20 Best Products For Sensitive Acne Prone Skin (2023 Updated)

If you have acne, please try this. I’ll never use anything else. I used to have hormonal, cystic acne before this. And, my 14-year-old son was being made fun of at school. I bought him some, and his skin cleared up within 2-3 days completely.

You’ll notice a difference if you leave it on overnight, even. I’m not sure what sorcery this is, but I’ve been using it for 7 years now and I hope they never discontinue it.

This cream has been a savior in the era of having to wear a mask. If I ever feel a breakout or any slight inflammation coming on, I make sure to apply on the area of concern. Although I usually have to reapply a few times to fully get rid of a zit or postule, I usually see the results within two days! So not quite a “magic potion” but definitely a great alternative to waiting it out and risk scarring.

A little really goes a long way.

I have been using this for a week or so and so far I’m liking what this product does to my face. First the gentle cleanser: its doesnt really lather up and get soapy like most, this one you rub all over and rinse off.

My face felt squeaky clean and hydrated. My face felts smoother and tighter, as well as healthier. Day- calming treatment you use in the mornings after you wash with the cleanser. It works very well at keeping my face hydrated all day as well as keeping it less oily.

Night- retinol treatment you apply at night after washing your face with the cleanser. It has everything for acne as well as retinol for my old age. This keeps my face moisturized all night and has me waking up with a bright and tight look.

No tired looking or saggy looking face in the morning. All these products work really well together and really help with my acne and keeping the oil at bay. These also are fragrance-free.

Just finished my 2nd bottle of this Acne Relief Calming Treatment Hydrator tonight. Really enjoying this one. Already purchased my 3rd one. I have combination skin and and get consistent mild acne on my chin, jawline and sometimes cheeks.

I’ve seen a noticeable difference in my skin texture and evenness with this Salicyclic Acid Serum. I was skeptical how it could be hydrating but I’ve used quite a bit at times and never noticed any dryness or tightness.

Not to make a horribly long review, but just so you know what to expect. the actual cleanser when you go to lather your face, don’t be shocked that it doesn’t look soapy or even feel like you have anything on your face, trust me you do.

The step 2 & 3 treatments do go a long way with a small amount. Don’t be scared to try this product, you won’t know what ACTUALLY works for you until you try it. You can’t base a beauty/self care product on what other people say.

I ordered from this product because I was having a bad acne breakouts and I wanted to have better liking skin. I was skeptical about it at first because I had never heard of the product and it didn’t have many reviews.

But after using this product, the results really speak for themselves. My skin has never been so clear and felt so healthy. Plus the steps are super simple to follow. I definitely recommend this if you have bad acne.

So I bought this trail since I saw an add on Tiktok since I had bad skin. Ever since I got this acne fighting duo, I’ve had pretty clear skin and my acne has been going away. The day cream smells and feels amazing while the night cream fights off the acne for you at night.

This product was recommended by the person who does my facials but it was kinda pricey at the salon. It’s a nice product to use before your moisturizer (and your vitamin c if you use it). It feels good on my face.

My skin feels smooth and supple. I would let it soak into your skin before applying your moisturizer. I love the way my face feels- very smooth and supple. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Walmart had this product.

I bought this because of concern with those lines, often called techno neck. It smells great – pleasant orange scent. It is thick cream, but sinks into the skin fast and doesn’t feel tacky. Maybe I don’t apply consistently enough and that’s why I’m not seeing a change, or maybe I need to apply every day AND night to neck and chest.

Who knows, but I’ve not seen changes noticeable yet. Quick fix would be Botox and threads, but I don’t want to do that. I’ll continue the application in hopes there will be small changes.

This may be 4 or 5 stars for some people, but I wasn’t able to use it long enough to know if there would be benefits. I used it once daily for 2 or 3 days and then morning and evening for one day. That’s when the redness and stinging began over a large area of m;y neck.

(Never used on chest). I had a sample of PCA balm on hand and applied 3 layers before I got some relief. My main concern is dry skin, but I have had problems with sunscreen brand that I used on my face as well with PCA body therapy.

I cannot find the invoice and don’e have the order number to return this.

I have never been a fan of Cetaphil’s standard line of cleansers, but I’m impressed by this newer addition to their lineup. It’s a nice morning cleanser and hasn’t given me any irritation even when I have to wear a face mask for 8 hours for the rest of the day.

I am knocking off one star for the texture. I would describe it as “stiff” coming out of the tube; it resists spreading at first. Going in with wet hands, lathering it a bit between my palms, and applying to an already-wet face solves that in my experience, but it may be offputting for some.

Also, this is fragrance-free with very low amounts of plant extracts – the smell is raw ingredients, a bit plasticky in nature. Doesn’t bother me and isn’t impacting my score, but that’s been showing up in a lot of reviews and it’s worth mentioning.

Even though this product works well, I have to rate it 3 stars. The cleanser is difficult to dispense because of how thick it is and it is hard to lather up/work up in my hands. You have to make sure you put some water on top of the cleanser and then rub your palms together to get it to foam up before you start washing your face.

I feel like it works very well on my skin, but it’s just tough to work with. Once I’m done washing my face, I still see “chunks” of cleanser in my hands because it didn’t activate enough to clean my face.

I think if the formula improved, I would be willing to give it a better rating. If you personally don’t mind having to work the cleanser in between your palms for a good while, then I recommend it. But I find that to be annoying.

As a preface I have inflammatory acne, very oily, sensitive skin with hyperpigmentation. Ive had acne since I was born (baby acne, rashes that progressed into what it is today). With that out the way, I really enjoy this face wash.

One thing I dont like about cleansers geared toward oilier, acne prone skin is they are too stripping and harsh. I have always wanted a cream based cleanser for my skin type as cleansers are not supposed to leave your skin dry and tight.

This checks off that box. Regarding the smell, honestly it smells like gasoline. I was taken aback by the smell at first but the more I use it (im on my 3rd month) the more I am accustomed to it. Also the smell doesnt linger on your skin.

It does lather up a bit (not like full on body wash or soap) and I appreciate that. It is cream based so it isnt going to lather like a gel based cleanser. I also use this with the matching moisturizer and THAT is amazing.

Also, remember everything has chemicals (like water) in it and its so much fear mongering going on. Its best to do your research on these “chemicals” everyone is so scared of to properly inform yourself on things to buy.

Just finished my 2nd bottle of this and I have to say it is definitely my favorite acne spot treatment, it doesn’t dry my skin and it gets rid of any breakouts within a day or 2 at most. The only 2 drawbacks is the smell, it smells awful, the int thing I can compare it to is tea tree oil, even though it doesn’t have tea tree oil in it.

The other thing is the cover on the bottle that only lets a tiny drop at a time come out, which is ok if you only have one little spot on your face but gets annoying when you are applying it to several spots or a larger area, it would be much better with a larger opening.

But other than that it is a great treatment for breakouts and very affordable. I plan on trying the other products in this line soon since I love this spot treagnent so much.

This is a great go to product when you have that emergency spot pop up. It won’t give you instant relief but you will see instant results. I only had to apply this once before bed before I saw a difference.

Strong scent of tea tree oil when you first apply but the smell dissipates quickly. I personally would not use this every day because it might be very drying but this is great for those spots that pop up out of the blue.

The only downside for me was the application. I personally used a Q-tip to apply so I didn’t take any stars off my rating. I will definitely continue to use this product with Burts Bee’s Acne solutions Spot Treatment Cream which is my favourite treatment.

Wow. okay honestly I started using Clearly around October and in the last 3 months I have with out a doubt noticed a difference; my skin texture has improved, there is less redness, it feels softer and overall more healthy.

However keep in mind it has taken time to notice a change, you really need to be patient with this product!! I was so nervous to try this at first as its not the cheapest option, but take it from someone who has went through sooo many different products and wasted sooo much money, that Clearly is honestly so worth it!! I keep ordering more and I am so excited to see how this will continue to improve my skin as the months go on.

I still break out! It has not completely stopped it but it is SO good at preventing acne from getting worse and making the whole break out/healing process speed up!! Works like magic overnight. In honesty I have been scared to write a review because I have tried sooo many things before and nothing has worked long term (worried I am gonna jinx it), but I have to admit Clearly Basics is the first product ever to actually make a noticeable difference everyday and I am really starting to believe that it will only continue to improve the more I stick with it.

I was excited to receive this 30 day acne system kit by Dr. Sandra Lee AKA Dr. Pimple Popper. I’ve been dealing with hormonal acne since I was 12 so I’m always looking for new products to help combat my breakouts.

I started this system right before that time of the month and noticed that my pimples healed a lot faster than normal. The Salicylic Acid Cleanser was a really runny so I had to keep it upside down to stop it from pouring out when I opened it.

But it’s a nice gel like texture that lathers nicely and didn’t leave my face dry. It had a bit of a chemical scent but it wasn’t too bad and didn’t last long. The BP lotion was really nice. It had a light creamy texture and didn’t have much of a scent.

The Retinol Serum is a light gel like texture with no scent. I could definitely see my hyperpigmentation marks lighten within the first few weeks of use. And lastly the Facial Moisturizer with Vitamin C.

I really enjoyed this moisturizer. It’s a light texture so it’s perfect for oily skin people like me. This system is very easy to use. The products are even marked so there’s no confusion with which order to use them in.

The only thing I disliked was that there was no SPF included. As much as I liked this system I do miss my long skincare routine and was excited to get back to it once I was finished testing out this system.

I would definitely purchase the moisturizer again. Overall I think this is a great set for people who don’t like long skincare routines or don’t have the time to do long skincare routines.

This and the matching face wash are incredible. So worth giving it a shot. I didn’t love it right away, had to play around with it to figure out how it would work with my skin but now I’m having the best skin I’ve had in years.

I use the face wash only 1x a day every day or every other day, the spot treatment I use every day or night. The spot treatment doesn’t work well under my makeup but it makes my skin look so good so I do use it during the day on my no-makeup days.

I look matte and clear all day without feeling that uncomfortable tightness that mattifiers usually cause. This spot treatment brings my blemishes down fast and makes my rough patches peel off and stay soft, it also fades dark post-blemish scars! And it’s so gentle and non-drying! The texture is weird though – kind of pasty and it pills, so just spread a pea-sized amount around the face quickly before it dries and then don’t rub it after.

I’ll never be without this!.

I am not a review person, but I felt very strongly about this. I really wanted to warn others of what happened to me. Some background with me – I have recently developed some annoying adult acne. I have a sulfur mask I use very successfully with smaller spots or spots that are just beginning.

I was on the hunt for something else to use for those bigger, annoying spots that just pop up. I had tried my sulfur mask on these types of spots before as well as the under-the-skin “blind” ones and just didn’t see many results.

So, I decided to try finding something that would work for those types of spots. I came across this and decided I’d try it out. I really wanted to like this. It sounded perfect in every way. I was slightly skeptical as I had used salicylic acid products before without having any results (no bad reaction – just no results).

I thought this would be better and different since it is from a more natural brand. I had heard great things about it, so I picked up a tube from Kohls. I applied it the first night after I got it home.

It felt fine. It applied really easily and the consistency was good. It blended right in. I applied it to 2 stubborn spots I had that my usual methods were not responding to. I placed a small dab in the center of each and then blended it in.

I went to sleep and when I woke up, I didn’t see any results really. No issues, but no improvement at all. I did see some dryness. I knew that was definitely a potential, so all I did was apply some aloe vera to moisturizer.

I was not going to give up yet. I knew products need time to work. I saw other reviews state it took a couple tries to start seeing results. I decided to use it a second time. BIG MISTAKE. I awake to see a NASTY chemical burn on the one spot.

It was absolutely awful. Ugly, scabby and very sore. I was devastated. The other spot oddly had no burn. just flaky skin from dryness. The other one was BURNED. I am extremely upset. Having an acne spot was nowhere near as bad as having a BURN on your face.

Now, I am struggling to find a good, safe product to use to heal this nasty burn. This is going to be real fun going to work on Monday, likely having to try to hide a terrible burn on my face. I cannot believe there are no warnings about this risk.

Yes, it says there could be sunburn risks. but that’s obvious. Sunscreen is a must in general! It also says not to use it in combination with other acne treatments. Also very obvious. This was the only treatment I was trying for these 2 spots.

It also says to start with once a day, then maybe try twice or three times and that some people may only be able to do it every other day due to the risk of dryness. I get that completely. That is why I was trying once a day first.

If I had still had just the dryness and NOT a nasty burn after the second try, I was going to go ahead and draw back to every other day while I tested the product to see if it even worked for me at all.

Now, I am completely DONE with it. I refuse to use it or any other products from Skinfix. I was going to try some others. not now. I am returning this to Kohls ASAP. Other users – BEWARE. Use EXTREME CAUTION with this.

The product says NOTHING about not using this for active spots. It actually says it can be used to treat and prevent acne spots. It does no such thing. It didn’t help anything at all. All it did was cause a terrible burn over a stubborn spot.

Now I am hoping that it doesn’t leave a permanent scar and I can get this cleaned up just as soon as possible. Good luck everyone – please be careful!.

This worked great when I was younger and works wonders now as well! A little goes a long ways. It feels clean and refreshing. My skin is nice and tight afterwards. Not over dried or either but I can tell a huge difference in my oiliness.

It really has helped keep my acne under control. If just starting a benzoyl peroxide treatment, use this every other night until you build a good tolerance. Do not use this to remove your makeup. Do not use this around the eye, nose, and mouth area as the skin is more thin and this could cause irritation.

Follow up with a good moisturizer and wear SPF. I had a sample bottle and it lasted me at least 4 months. It was tiny. A little goes a long way. Just bought the 8 oz bottle and I’m sure this could last me all year.

I will continue to buy this product probably for the rest of my life.

after finding this product i have to say i am a true believer that this stuff works. it doesn’t give you immediate results but after a few weeks of daily use you really see the difference! i don’t think any product has ever worked this well, prescription or non-prescription.

i do have to say tho that once you start using it, you do have to continue to use it. if you skip a period of time not washing your face with it, you’re liable to get some breakouts as i’ve noticed for myself.

i was also hesitant with the exfoliating beads in the wash due to my sensitive skin but thankfully, they haven’t been harsh or irritating at all. i’m very satisfied with this facial wash and will continue to use it, plain and simple.

I have combination oily skin, but recently, I have had a lot of breakouts and blackheads. Pores have also seem to have expanded even though I follow a strict skincare routine and have always had relatively good skin.

I have always used a benzoyl peroxide wash to keep acne away, but realized 1) it still wasn’t cleaning my skin properly, because I would wipe my face with toner and still see a SUPER dirty cotton pad, and 2) it was not tackling any of the blackheads, so I would always resort to my good ole extractor to do the job.

I always use a salicylic acid treatment, but not a face wash, so decided to try this (along with some other ones to test). THIS ONE IS THE BEST. I used it once, did some light scrubbing in my T-zone area, let it sit on my face for about 20 seconds while I was rinsing my conditioner from my hair, and then rinse it off.

When I applied toner, I still had a little bit of dirty stuff on the cotton pad, but this cleared the majority of my pores and I did not see a blackhead in sight! Please remember that I have combo oily skin, so if you are more on the dry side, I would not recommend using this very often or let it sit on your skin like I do.

I love this face wash!! I have been struggling with acne for so long and was trying various face washes over time that weren’t working or made it worse, but thankfully my mom found this one online! So we tried it for me, and it really has calmed my skin and helped my acne!!! I was also using the acne moisturizer from the same line for a while which was helpful too, but I eventually went to the dermatologist since my previous acne was scarring and she gave me a different medication.

Thankfully I can still continue the face wash though since I really think it helped my skin even without the acne moisturizer. This is the 3rd time we’ve purchased this face wash, and I don’t know if I’ll ever stop using this product lol, it’s so nice and so helpful!!! It also has a pleasant smell and a nice texture.

I love this product. I have battled with what dermatologist told me was cystic acne. I researched that Salicylic Acid would not help cystic acne. Well I’ve have used the facial cleanser for about 3 weeks now and my “cystic” acne has completely resolved.

My only negative thing to say is the smell of the actual cleanser is hard to get use and will catch you off guard at first. I wash my face twice daily with this cleanser and moisturize with Derma E Vitamin C Renewing Moisturizer in the morning and at night with Derma E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum and Derma E Vitamin C Intense Night Cream.

I’m 32 years old and this has been the best combination I have found OTC that actually works. I so happy and excited I finally have clear skin.

I started using this product last week because I noticed a few hormonal breakouts. I had a sample from a subscription so I thought why not give it a try? I only used it maybe 3 times at night and my face had broken out soooo bad from it.

I have combination skin because I have seborrhea and eczema. My skin is super dry in some parts and super oily in other parts but with both of those dermatitis’ it makes my skin pretty sensitive. I should have done some research before using this cleanser because now my skin looks like I just hit puberty.

My face has NEVER broken out this bad before and it seems like I just keep getting more and more cystic looking acne bumps as the day goes on. I definitely do not recommend this to anyone who has sensitive skin because my skin is also getting really dry, flaky, and itchy.

Not sure why it made me break out so much though. Do your research before you use it.

I love this product! I’m in my 50’s and still get hormonal pimples. I’ve been using this for years and it works without over drying. I bought the new large size with the pump to use in the shower. As other recent reviews have stated, the pump on the Value Size does not work properly whatsoever.

It is very disappointing to spend $50+ (with tax)on a product to find that when you go to use it, the size of a half of a pea comes out. I had to pump it 15 times just to get enough on the wash cloth.

Very frustrating. I’m going to transfer it to another bottle because the product itself is great, but this should have been tested prior to marketing it, as it obviously isn’t a fluke since others have stated the same thing.

Since it is new, there wasn’t other reviews when I bought it. The other sizes are awesome though, but avoid the large Value size. I had to deduct two points simply because the application (pump) does not work, and there is no excuse for putting it on the market when there is such an obvious flaw when going to use it.

That would be the equivalent of having an awesome lipstick whose bullet doesn’t roll up. However, the product is a very good product. Once they change the bottle to a working one, I’ll change the review to 5 stars.

I do recommend the Murad Anti-Aging Acne Time Release Acne Cleanser for people with skin breakouts, though! The Murad Acne Control Clarifying Cleanser in the regular and mini size work great and are in a tube with no application problems.

This Cleanser leaves your face with a feeling that is very cool and invigorating, while helping to getting rid of unwanted oil, and it does wonders for helping bumps to disappear.

I rarely use anything in my skin as a man, but I had a bad breakout and just so happened to receive a sample with a. Cologne purchase. I used it and got little bumps. I almost stopped using it, but looked at a review and found out it was called purging where it was actually flushing out all the oil and bumps in the process of being formed.

I bought a small bottle and continued using it. After a week, my bumps have cleared, and some big pores on my face magically disappeared also. I would not recommend using this if you have less than 2 weeks before a trip or so.

The “purging “ will continue but afterwards my skin is clearer than ever. If you are African American like me, please use the mattifying sunscreen also.
