i have dry, sensitive, cystic acne skin. my acne is hormonal as well so the past 1-2 years i’ve felt forced to accept the fact that no product will really be able to minimize the amount of acne i get due to the fact that it’s an under the surface type of problem.

i’ve been to dermatologists, i’ve tried retinoids, antibiotics, prescription topicals. a lot of which just ended up making my skin worse; either super irritated, red and dry, more acne, etc. so when i tell y’all that this is the best thing i have ever used and my skin is clearing up for the first time that i can remember.

even if i do get a new blemish/bump it goes away so quick. areas of cluster pimples i had for a month or two went away or were almost gone within a week of using this. NOW- i see a lot of ppl saying don’t use for sensitive skin.

i definitely have very reactive/sensitive skin and this is not bad on your skin. ultimately it 100% depends from person to person, just don’t not try it because you see reviews abt ppl saying so. i would recommend reading the ingredient list and feeling out for yourself if you know or think your skin might agree w those ingredients.

the one thing i will say is that every time i use it *it DOES make your skin tingle*. i think this sensation is possibly what /some/ people might interpret as burning. it even makes my skin slightly red upon application but i know both of these reactions are not bad for my skin bc both aspects go away within an hour or so of being on your skin, AND by the morning my skin tone is more even n doesn’t feel too dry or anything.

the first couple times i used i found my skin was a tiny bit flakey in a couple areas but was not accompanied by any redness or irritation (and it hasn’t done that anymore). my last thing is i’ve found it helpful to put it UNDER/before your moisturizer (i’ve read this can somewhat minimize the “harshness” of a product or ingredient if you have sensitive skin bc you’re diluting it a little w moisturizer layered on top).

i also use this all over my face for best results. only things i use for night time routine are this and ponds moisturizer! but bottom line what im trying to get across is don’t always listen to reviews since i have the same skincare traits as some other ppl that don’t like this product, but it has worked better than anything else i’ve tried.

find what types of ingredients your skin does like so you can really decide for yourself if something will work for you! :).

I bought this moisturizer on Amazon after previously using a $23 one that I finally used up. I wasn’t really expecting much as I think it only had 24 reviews but the majority were positive and for $10.

99 I decided to try it out. Firstly, it’s lightweight but hydrates my skin and this is important for me because heavy moisturizers just irritate my skin that is already acne prone and can lead to me breaking out.

Secondly, it has quality ingredients that are understandable and what I’ve been specifically looking for in a moisturizer, my last moisturizer had salicylic acid but didn’t offer many other beneficial ingredients that weren’t too harsh for the skin like this one.

I have been using this with the toner now and my dark spots are fading from a recent whitehead breakout I had which turned into a huge pimple and left a really dark mark behind, I I feel like the two combined are really benefiting my skin.

Lastly, this moisturizer is just everything my skin needs, it isn’t going to be for everyone and that’s a given with any product so remain open minded, but if you have normal skin (slightly oily around my t-zone and normal everywhere else) this could work for you and hopefully it does!.

Okay! so this is not a terrible product. but it is terrible for what it is advertised for. This is not moisturizing, but it’s really nice used after the salicylic acid toner. my steps go wash > toner > this “moisturizer”>heavy nighttime moisturizer.

I wake up with a legitimate difference in my skin so I know it’s working, just not in the way intended. I also only use it at night with a heavy moisturizer on top of it. more tips: this stuff doesn’t smell good.

Not the worst thing ever but not good. only use a SMALL AMOUNT. this stuff is like water on the skin. you need such a small amount or you’ll be trying to rub it into your skin all night. I have intense combination skin, extremely pity and extremely dry.

my dermatologist recommended this to me (that’s how u know it’s good lol). i have hormonal cystic acne, redness and dryness prone skin. my skin is very sensitive from doing topical retinoids in the past, so there’s not a whole lot that doesn’t irritate my skin.

ESPECIALLY acne-geared products. a lot are way too harsh for my skin; but obvi integral to my skincare routine to help w the cystic hormonal acne. i find that this is the only acne wash that doesn’t irritate my skin or make it feel overly dry.

i feel like my skin is never flakey after using like w other benzoyl peroxide products. surprisingly very gentle and while my acne is, again, hormone related as opposed to external factors; so it doesn’t make it magically all go away and it’s not like i never get additional acne.

but i would say 100% this helps keep it at bay and improves acne that i already have. i would say if u have acne prone skin you’ll probably want some sort of topical to use in addition to this, bc yes it does work very well for what it is AND the price point, but like i said it’s not gonna be a cure-all (more than likely, obvi everyone’s skin is diff).

i will say i can’t use this every day though. it’s more of a twice or three times a week type cleanser (for me anyways!), otherwise it would dry out my skin. also i get body acne and i sometimes use this as a body wash as well and find that it works wonders for that too.

This stuff actually works! I’ll preface this review by saying I have suffered with acne off and on since my teens. Closed comedones, whiteheads and blackheads. This stuff is a literal dream! I always have a bad reaction to SA and I think that may be an issue for a lot of people who think a face wash doesn’t work or breaks them out worse.

This has benzoyl peroxide at a whopping 4% which is higher than any other OTC wash. A little goes a long way. I’ve been suffering from a breakout and bad reaction to another wash and moisturizer so I scoured the web and Influenster looking for something that would work for me.

I took a chance and bought this. I’m speechless. I washed my face mid day, and that evening I looked in the mirror and my acne flare up had already significantly reduced. Used it again before bed, and I woke up without any new acne and my acne from the day before was almost non exsistent.

For $20 this is a now I can’t possibly live without it! I pair this with the cerave night moisturizer cream and my face is about two days away from being instagram worthy (without the makeup!) I don’t like to hype products I don’t feel strongly about but I would go to bat for this.

I’ve had acne since I was 12 and now I’m in my mid 20s. I’ve tried so many different face washes over the years, especially benzoyl peroxide based cleansers since it’s one of the best acne fighting ingredients.

I always thought that the higher the percentage of BPO, the better. Until my dermatologist told me a 4% BPO cleanser is just as effective as the 10% ones. The only difference is that 4% is way less irritating.

I was nervous to drop from 10% to 4% since I’ve been on 10% BPO cleansers for about 10 years, but wow I wish I would’ve known to sooner. This is THE most gentle BPO cleanser I have EVER encountered. My skin didn’t feel irritated or tight after washing it off, which was a first for me.

Of course, be sure to always follow up with a good moisturizer and spf to prevent your skin from getting irritated. I use the cerave ultralight weight spf moisturizer in the mornings and the cerave pm moisturizer at night! You really don’t need expensive and fancy name brand products to achieve the results you want.

I’d highly recommend this to anyone struggling with acne, whether you’re new to BPO cleansers or have been using them for years like me!.

My mother bought this for me awhile back and I used it for a while and totally forgot about it. The first time I ran out I didn’t get another because I didn’t see results then. Mind you, I was dumb and thinking that putting it on would cure everything even though I still fell asleep with makeup on, ate garbage food, and rarely washed my face.

I still eat garbage food, no one can take away salt and vinegar chips from me, but now I wash my face every morning, afternoon, and before I go to sleep and I rarely wear makeup. I ended up asking my mother to get me some again, and her excitement that I was actually taking decent care of myself for once led her to agreeing.

I use it every other night, since it’s a bit harsher than other treatments, and it’s almost unbelievable how clear my skin is. For reference, I used to have a large cluster of closed comedones (whiteheads) on my forehead that have since then gotten significantly smaller and there are way less.

A guy pal referred me to this product, saying that it was his holy grail product for breakouts. This product is an oldie, but a goodie. Consider this the OG when it comes to pimple patches. It’s an overnight spot treatment that clears up your angry red face bumps, and when you was it away in the morning, you feel a lot better about your situation.

The concept of it is different, it’s a pink paste-like clayish sediment that sits at the bottom of the bottle, with clear liquid that sits on top. Most importantly, DO NOT SHAKE THE BOTTLE TO MIX THE INGREDIENTS.

I repeat, DO NOT SHAKE THE BOTTLE. You take a clean q-tip (or cotton swab, for those in legal copyright branding), dip it into the pink stuff, dot it on your surface face blemishes, let it dry, go to bed, wake up and wash off.

I started buying this about 14 years ago, after I had my babies (twins) and hormones were wreaking havoc on my skin. I actually placed an order with Mario Badescu because their Healing Cream was recommended for hormonal acne in one of my magazines, and ordered this too.

The healing cream didn’t do much for me, but this stuff really works as it says it does. If you follow instructions, it absolutely reduces cystic type acne bumps, those painful ones under the surface, wonderfully.

If you put it on broken skin, does it burn? Heck yes. Do I still put it on popped whiteheads to dry them out, yes, I do. If a pimple is bad enough to put this on it, I’m not really caring if it peels the next day, although I don’t remember that being the case.

I think with stuff like this it’s easy to get carried away and use too much and put it all over, and that’s not what it’s made for. Some people complain about the size for the money, but it lasts a really long time, and almost all acne treatments are expensive.

If you want to stretch this stuff, I sometimes add a bit of witch hazel, and rubbing alcohol in the bottle when the liquid gets low. It doesn’t work as well, if the bottle is really low and you’re replacing all the liquid, but it still does the job better than any of the cheap versions of this stuff I’ve tried.

It’s been around since 1967, and THIS has been around since the 1960’s and is STILL the brands #1 best selling product @ $17 (Amazon) So it’s salicylic acid, sulfur, zinc oxide and (yes) calamine lotion.

It draws out the icky, exfoliates and cleans the pores. I added a photo so you could get somewhat of an idea what it is. You have to keep it upright so that it separates. You don’t shake it. You grab a Q-Tip and place it inside until you have some of the pink ointment on it.

Then all you do is put a dot on any surface blemishes you have before bed, and usually they are gone in the morning. Depends on how bad they are. I look like I have the chicken pox around that time of the month.

SPOILER ALERT: Differin gel is my skincare secret weapon. I guess it’s not a secret anymore, so I’ll share my experience with this magical aspect of my skincare routine. Retinoids are all the rave thanks to social media, but they truly have so many benefits for our skin.

Since using Differin gel I’ve noticed brighter skin tone, improved skin texture and appearance, and a decrease in fine lines. If anything, my skin is blemish-free and has a gorgeous dewy glow. At 32, I honestly think my skin looks better than it did in my 20s!!! My dermatologist recommended that I add Differin gel to my skincare routine instead of spending top dollar on Tretinoin (prescription strength retinoid).

Essentially, adapalene (the active ingredient in Differin gel) works very similarly to Tretinoin at a fraction of the cost. I typically buy Differin gel at Ulta (~$28 for the large tube) which lasts about 3 months.

I think the mistake that most people make is that they don’t understand the mechanism of action for the skincare products they choose or they are using the product improperly. Differin gel IS NOT A SPOT TREATMENT! You only need a pea size amount and spread it across your entire face — even if you don’t have acne.

Differin gel is marketed as an “acne treatment” but it has phenomenal anti-aging properties!!! I’ve noticed such a vast improvement in the overall look of my skin and I’m beyond impressed with the results.

The price point is affordable and I haven’t had any difficulty finding Differin gel even at my local CVS and Walgreens. Word to the wise–Just be careful around the eyes and start *slow*–My dermatologist said start Differin gel EVERY OTHER day at first then slowly increase to every day.

Make sure you’re using a good moisturizer too (you can sandwich it — moisturizer-Differin-moisturizer). Your skin really needs to get used to the retinoids in Differin which basically speed up your body’s ability to turn over your skin cells.

My personal experience has been great with Differin gel and I plan to keep it in my skincare routine indefinitely, especially because it’s not breaking the bank.

So about 3 days ago I woke up to the worst breakout I have ever had in my life. I barely had acne growing up and even as a young adult my skin was always clear. I am prone to getting those deep painful kinds of acne as well as the average surface level ones and while I still get them sometimes, I find that it is only when I travel or when there is a drastic change to my environment that triggers it.

In my regular life though? At this point I only get breakouts around my menstrual cycle but then my skin recovers very quickly afterwards ! I started using CeraVe Acne Control Gel four months ago. Before that, I’d been alternating between two products with AHA and BHA ingredients since 2017 (Skinceuticals’ Blemish + Age Defense and Jan Marini’s Bioclear Lotion).

So far, CeraVe’s product is working just as well for me, even though the active ingredient % is lower than what’s in the products I had used before. It has 2% salyclic acid. I didn’t experience any irritation, although my skin is used to this ingredient (was using 3.

I tried this at night to calm my oily nose, and brighten some dark spots after blemishes. In the next morning, the result I had expected appeared; the pores around my nose have been visibly minimized, and the blemish marks have been brightened! The elegant scent is also nice; but the lacking one star is for the stiff pump to avoid fine adjustment of the amount of usage; so I repeat the minimum push for adjustment!.

Edit: By the way! I found out that the Biotin supplement I have been taking of 10,000mcg (to grow out my hair) was making my acne worse! In some individuals with dry, flaky, and textured skin, biotin can cause more severe break outs especially if you normally are prone to acne.

It’s because it helps you produce more keratin and those with textured/acne prone skin already produce more keratin on their skin than the normal person. Just in case anyone else has been going through a similar problem!I have sensitive DRY skin that also gets cystic acne and extremely extremely bumpy texture.

I have struggled my whole life to find anything that works for me (and doesn’t make it WORSE). I have been using Cerave’s SA wash and their hydrating wash for the last year and that did help with the texture issue somewhat and the hydrating wasn’t helped with dryness but not my cystic acne! I picked this up on a whim (and due to desperation to be honest).

After the FIRST wash my current acne’s swelling reduced immensely and the deep buried acne started to surface. After my second wash using this product, (Warning, TMI ahead) all of my acne started leaking, oozing and the swelling continued to decrease rapidly over a couple hours! My skin texture and acne is SO much better, my complexion is brighter, and I really cannot believe it! Yes my skin is a bit dry (since it’s already normally dry and this can be very drying with repeated use) however it isn’t “tight”, red nor burning and I do moisturize, if curious, I use Dickinsons rose water/witch hazel and clean and clear dual action (the only moisturizer combo I have found so far that doesn’t break me out, high end products included bc I am allergic to Many things but most specifically sunscreen/spf!) So it isn’t a problem.

The results I’m getting from the face wash are well worth the extra moisturizing and I will be using it as a sort of “spot treatment wash” for the next couple days. Wow I just can’t emphasize enough how much this has CURED my truly problematic skin.

This product is amazing! I 100% recommend it. I had a breakout out all over my forehead, and I was upset because it came out of nowhere. I believe it may have been hormonal related, stress related, or both.

I had whiteheads that were painful and I had bumps that were red. The acne medication I’ve used for years, which was prescribed by a dermatologist, shockingly didn’t work this time around. I’m assuming maybe my skin got used to it, so I had to switch things up because I was really desperate and starting to feel pretty insecure.

As I was researching for a new acne cream that I could buy ASAP, I found this Neutrogena product. I was hesitant because I wasn’t sure if it was actually going to work and I saw a few other reviews discussing how they had a bad reaction to the product.

I personally didn’t have a bad reaction at all and I have sensitive skin. I noticed very very quick results, like within hours. However, since I had a large breakout with very inflamed acne, it took about a week with consistent use of the product for my whiteheads to completely disappear and red bumps to flatten.

My skin feels so smooth now and I’m really happy and grateful that I came across this product. It’s a must use! The product exceeded my expectations and I’ll definitely be continuing to purchase it from now on.

I have combination skin by the way and I’d also like to note that it does have a drying effect simply because that’s what it’s supposed to do, so as long as you have a good moisturizer you’ll be good to go! 😊.

I have to say this is by far the most effective acne facial cleanser I’ve ever used. It has 10% Benzoyl Peroxide as opposed to the 2 or 3% usually found in most similar face washes or spot treatments.

I also find it highly superior to products that have Salicylic Acid as the main ingredient for treating problematic skin. “Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne” also seems to aid somewhat in the gradual fading of dark spots, which I assume is another benefit of the higher B.

P. content. The one caveat I’ll say is that some people with sensitive skin may find this product too harsh or drying. You WILL feel at least a tingle when you use it, unlike most cleansers that basically feel like you’re slathering hand soap on your face.

There’s no questioning the potency of the potency of this products ingredients, for better or worse. If you’re like me and your skin just can’t seem to kick its acne addiction, I definitely recommend trying this for a little complexion rehab.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this lotion so much! Yes, it’s a bit expensive, but it’s worth every penny!! My skin craves this lotion! It does dry my skin out a bit bc I use it every day— I don’t apply it under my eyes or around my mouth.

It goes on so smoothly, and I feel refreshed after I put it on. The smell was a bit strong at first, but I’ve gotten used to it. It definitely controls the breakouts and helps keep my skin clear. Highly recommend!!.

Coming from someone with very acne prone skin and has been on contraceptive pills since 15 to battle it, this is a good cream! No cream is going to 100% stop or prevent spots but this one certainly doesn’t add to the mayhem.

A nice light cream, fast absorbing, that leaves my face feeling fresh afterwards. Would definitely recommend this for any other like me! I also have sensitive and combination skin and it works well overall.
