You don’t need a lot, 2 to 3 drops on an airbrush tin cup is all you need. Mix in well with your thinner of preference. I’ve found that it mixes well with water and rubbing alcohol. I spilled by accident my bottle of Tamiya retarder, didn’t want to pay 8-10 dollars for a 40ml bottle again, that’s less than 1.

Returning for a larger bottle of matte medium. It’s perfect not too runny, but not too thick for collage and journal work. Would also mix well with paints. I like the texture and it’s a good price, better if it were on sale.

Not everyone Carrie’s it though. Also like the bottle flat top so can store upside down.

A few comments, first if you apply in hot HUMID conditions, even watching thickness and application method, make sure it is really, really dry before top coating. It was dry to the touch and to a very light sand, but when top coated with Wet edge the primer spots stayed gummy for days.

Wound up sanding right back and starting again, much thinner coats (applied with a foam brush) and drier conditions. But the thinner coats mean it does not cover the TotalFair, which I really like, well at all.

I have a white hull and I am working on the 3rd coat of primer and the darkness of the total fair is still not covered. So, not too impressed. Perhaps it works beautifully in a climate controlled shop, but not in my boat shed.

I recently bought TotalBoat primer, wet edge top paint underdog bottom paint. I watched the video for application of top coat and other similar u-tube videos. they all said use high density foam rollers, the primer did not have an application video on your site.

when I received my items and looked through everything I was pleased to see all the extras that came with. One item I thought was odd was a 3/8 nap roller, I assumed maybe it was for the primer to fill minor scratches or pits because it was in same box as primer, against my better judgement I used the nap roller on the sides of my boat, as it set I noticed why I felt the nap roller was going to cause a problem.

It left an orange peel like texture, I assumed after the primer set I would be able to sand it smooth with a D/A sander, says it sets in 24-36 hours, my schedule allowed me 4 days for it to set, there were 3 very hot days of letting it sit and bake.

When I got home to sand the primed area, because of the thick layer of primer from the 3/8 nap roller, as I began to sand my paper and the primer started to gum. Not good!! So, I painted a small area with the Wetedge with a high density foam roller hoping it would cover and smooth out the orange peel look, it did not, but I did notice if I heavily over coated and let it run and drip It did help but not fix the problem.

The areas on the inside of the boat (btw,its a small stand up center console) that I only used a high density foam roller came out with an amazing mirror finish which is what I wanted for the outer sides.

Bottom line, with the nap roller that I used for the primer the results were not what I wanted, with only high density foam I got amazing results,but now I will have to re-do the outer sides right next year.

My problem is, my items came in 2 boxes the box with the primer had the 3/8 nap roller and no instruction for why, so I assumed it was for primer, was not, why would you send an item that ruins the finish? please contact me back.

I am preparing to do a complete topside paint job and wanted to do a small sample for experience. I laid up a 2×2 sheet of fiberglass, sanded and faired for the primer coat. The primer lays down in a thick even coat and was easy to sand before painting.

It does cover the small imperfections that may have been missed from fairing. Great product and excited to get to the topside project.

Sprayed it onto my steel bumpers prior to single stage paint and it went on well, I forgot to take a photo but its grey and paint stuck onto it. I like the idea of Ready to Spray, the can is almost half the weight of epoxy primer so its not a filler, just glue.

sprays great and covers good really helps with a great finish of base paint.

I am new to oil painting primer, so I cannot compare it to other brands, but I have been very pleased with it. I thought by purchasing pre-primed canvass that I was ready to paint. I was pleasantly surprised once I put a layer of primer on my canvas.

It came out smoother and whitener – a great base on which to paint. The primer dried overnight and was ready to paint on the next day. Applying oil paint was much easier and blending seemed to be enhanced.

On another canvas, I put a thin layer of the primer over my sketch. I was surprised that I was able to see the drawing through the primer. I will continue to use this primer even when my surface is already prepared.

I think this product was as advertised, but I just didn’t like it. It is very stinky. I have to put my boards out in the shop because my whole house just smells when I use it. It is also very difficult to clean up.

Worse than oil paint. I’m sure there are some additives that make it difficult. I had to work at getting it out of my brushes, and it took days to get it all off of my skin.

I’ve bought this product twice, once about eight years ago to cover a ceiling leak from my air condition unit on my mud room ceiling, and then recently to cover a living room ceiling stain caused by a minor roof leak.

I was very happy with this product for the mud room leak, but this product did a lousy job of matching the living room ceiling color this time. Instead of blending in with the original ceiling paint as it did in the mud room, this paint this time left a bright white round area that stands apart from the rest of the ceiling.

The original ceiling paint in both rooms is the same, so why this time this paint didn’t match up, was surprising and disappointing. I’ve seen others complain about how this paint worsened their stains and created more work.

I’d have to agree with them. Now I have to find something that actually does a better job of matching the rest of the ceiling paint that is already there. I lost my respect for this product.

As a professional remodeler, I use this stuff all the time. We often encounter roof damage resulting in brown water stains on gypsum board ceilings. These stains often show through fresh paint, even after several coats.

Stains are no match for Killz Upshot, though! It covers quickly and completely and after a brief drying period is ready for paint. The aerosol cannister makes for a quicker and cleaner repair and paint prep than traditional brush and roller methods.

The aerosol also drips less and covers textured surfaces much more thoroughly than brushes or rollers. It also saves over purchasing of primers in a can, as a single aerosol can of Upshot is enough to cover most stains.

For me, Killz Upshot is an invaluable tool to keep on hand for any paint project or roof repair.

A few months back a HVAC worker was doing maintenance in our attic and accidentally spilled water. The water came through the living room ceiling and left a big yellowish/ brownish stain. We were horrified.

KILZ Upshot to the rescue!! After using this product , we were uncertain if the stain would bleed through a new coat of ceiling paint. NO! There was no bleed through on our ceiling thanks to KILZ Upshot.

This is, as advertised, an exact color match for the dropper bottle of Uniform Grey. I’ve tried a lot of different primers, and the coverage on this one is better than anything I can remember using; one pass on each angle and it’s done.

I haven’t exhausted the can, but it’s heavier than I’m used to; I expect that means it has more paint than other stuff I’ve used. While the regular Army Painter paints require a buttload of shaking (I use a vortex mixer), this rattlecan only requires the amount of shaking you’d expect from a can of spray paint.

Taking the cap off for the first time requires a razor knife, which means it doesn’t accidentally come off in shipping.

I needed a black primer. I had been using Krylon or Rustoleum, whichever was available at the time at my local Walmart, but the nozzle always seemed to clog up about halfway through the can. There seems to be a spray paint shortage where I live, so I decided to try this out.

It was more expensive, but it sprays better and also appears to give a more even coating. It also works on some Reaper minis which don’t always take to spray paint primer. Worth it for me even tho it was more expensive.

I always get great service by the folks at Sunward Hobby. My order was delivered in only 2 days to bracebridge ont The paint is the larger can so it costs a little more but i can use it for other military hobby projects.

I did not prime before, and it covers really well and was pleased with the desert yellow color when dry. I let dry 24 hrs before handling and finishing my model. Great paint will buy again i highly recommend it.

Wax and grease remover strips it! lol! For whatever reason, I cannot get the same coverage or adhesion I get with the regular grey duplicolor. It has been almost a week now of drying in doors and the paint not only scraped off with my fingernail.

but it almost rubs off! It is painted over the standard grey duplicolor filler primer. I wanted some white on there to make the top coat pop but I just cannot get this stuff to dry. I would avoid this one if you can help it.

It is nice to have a white undercoat though.

I expected more from the Dupli-color name. This primer seemed to be more aerosol and carrier than actual primer. The body panel I sprayed would look completely wet and there would be no visible primer.

I had to do 4-5 coats before I could even tell I had sprayed anything at all. Spend the extra money on another brand.

Needed a white auto primer to go under a tri-coat pearl. This primer bonded and covered flawlessly to fender. I would have no issues buying and using again.

it’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. the primer comes in a metal can and you spray it through a nozzle that’s built into the can. after you get several coats on you can’t sand it. after you sand it you can recoat it and sand it again.

After you sand it again it’s ready for more primer and then you can sand it again. this is one sandable primer. I will use this in the future if I have time in between all that sanding. I will also recommend this product to all my friends and relatives to use on their cars motorcycles tractors bikes and some friends that have wagons.

This product is a sandable primer. It goes on thin and penetrates into hard to reach places. Add a thin layer, wait for it to dry and repeat. If it was thick like other primers it would gum up the sandpaper into globs.

Read product directions for best results.

Good paint. Nozzle has issue with the paint drying up in the hole. I use carb cleaner to remove the clog. Couldnt get any other thing to stick to my resin cast pieces.

The Army Painter Color Primer spray line can be very hit or miss on fashion and function. FASHION: I’ve read several articles and videos from The Army Painte suggesting that their color spray primer is as good for primer and base coat in one.

I have on many occasions use this to try speed painting units for wargaming to little to no success. More times than not I’ve had to apply a heavy overfishing to make sure the paint will matchif mistakes are made FUNCTION: As with all aerosol spray you want to have all conditions as optimal posible.

Not to hot, or cold, little humidity, not rainny etc. So as someone who has yet to master an airbrush more so due to hiuse limitations I space appx 5 m from my house to try and negate the smell if the paint to no effect.

Several times have I used different color sprays in several minutes on the same model and have hit less the desirable results with either the paint add in a textured effect to the model or spotty coverage.

Overall these paints are useful for those hard to achieve colors like yellow and using it as a base without having to work up or down and risk covering details.

I am only a casual user of Army Painter colored primers, but this gray is a nice mid tone to start any project from. I bought it when I couldn’t get hold of my usual “go to” grey (Vallejo). This was a bit darker, which I actually found better than the lighter gray tone Vallejo gives.

The finish was also smooth enough to allow for the use of Citadel Contrast paints without any difficulty. Will I buy it over the Vallejo? The jury is still out but I am impressed enough to give Army painter a closer look for any colored priming needs that might come up (I’m looking at you unpainted pile of Space Marines.

Purchased two cans on-line because the primer was not available in the store. Cans arrived the next day however were obviously old stock. Very dusty and questionable age. However completed purchase hoping the cans would work.

Neither of the cans would spray. Had to return to the store for a refund.

Absolutely brilliant. If you want a professional finish you can’t get any better than this product. Used it to restore some mag wheels that had a hard life. They now look like they just come off the production line.

Used this product 17 years ago to prime the bare metal on my FJ40 followed by acrylic top coat.No rust to this day.Also used it on the florpan under insulation and carpet. Same result

I thought I’d give this a try, as I prefer to coat all my painting surfaces with an added layer of gesso. The product is very easy to apply and a nice surface for my oil paints. The big issue, which other reviewers have stated, is the flimsy plastic tub and frustrating lid design! It’s almost impossible to get the threads started correctly when trying to replace the lid.

The tub is very thin and not rigid. I had to buy a new quart jar with lid to move the product into for storage. Michael! Please get a new vendor for the tub!!!.

I have been either buying or stretching my own canvases for years. I take the time to do several coats of regular gesso on top of the manufactured pre-primed gesso layers, and am consistently not satisfied with the results — the oil paint dulls and sinks in.

I love Michael Harding paint, and decided to give this a shot. It’s been a game changer. I do one coat of this on pre-primed canvas, then another coat on top of that (mixed with a *small* amount of acrylic paint to tint the white), and I wait a full day before I paint to give it time to dry.

The actually quality of the primer feels very nice — it does have a fume/smell that I wouldn’t be comfortable using anywhere but outside/very well ventilated space. I wear gloves, too. All in all, if you want brighter oil colors that don’t sink in, and you don’t want to shell out the cash or make your own oil primed canvases — this is for you! Highly recommend.

What I like about this: it’s creamy and flowy consistency. I pour it out of the jar and apply easily with a roller to the top and sides. That’s it’s main appeal to me. I honestly don’t notice a difference in color vs other gesso I use, I just prefer this consistency.

What I don’t like, as other reviewers have noted is the poor and thin plastic. The lid needs to be more rigid and easier to grasp. I had a heck of a time opening it and don’t screw it back on as tightly as I would like so I can open it again.

For my hands, the jar lid needs to be smaller as well as better made to more easily open and close. It has strong fumes so you definitely need a well ventilated space. I also have a HEPA filter going full blast until the fumes disappate.

Wow! I had to find a way to bring some life back to a house that was subjected to years of cigarette smoke inside. Not only was cigarette smoke but they were textured walls also. I couldn’t find anyone to clean these walls.

I remember using Killz before in my home and remembered the amazing coverage, so I gave it a try. Wow! It worked magic ! The walls went from yellow to bright white in one coat. And it took thr smell away with it! Of course we had to tear out the carpeting as well to completely vanish the smoke smell but this product is by far the most superior cover in have ever used.

It’s my go to for tough paint projects.

I’m so happy with Kilz Adhesion primer. I bought a house with walls and ceilings all painted with glossy paint. I like flat paint, so I’m repainting the whole house, but I have to use a primer first so that it sticks to the old glossy paint.

I read online reviews saying how good Kilz Adhesion is, so I gave it a try. It’s amazing. It goes on so smooth and opaque that I actually have fun painting it on, which is saying a lot! It just kind of slips on, does everything you want a perfect primer to do, and it holds tight.

You can’t scratch it off the wall with your fingernails after it dries. I love this primer and will only buy Kilz from now on.

I am currently working on a furniture project and wanted to prime before painting. A couple of the pieces were a combination of wood, plastic, and laminate so I needed a primer that would stick to the entire thing without chipping or peeling.

I was skeptical but bought the adhesion primer to give it a shot. This stuff is THICK, it has a batter like consistency but the application is surprisingly smooth. So far I’ve tried it on cured resin, plastic, glazed ceramic, my metal front door, laminated particle board, wood and I’m in love.

Once cured it is fully bonded to the surface. I tested it first on some shiny plastic/resin cabachons and I’ve never used something that worked so well. I didn’t etch or sand before application and it isn’t coming off.

This is an impressive product and I’ll be buying another gallon as soon as this one is gone.

Best primer on market. Worth every dime. Goes a long way when thinned. I restore furniture. Bought an antique bedroom set from an estate sale, stained cherry with thick varnish. I went straight to Kilz for two reasons; the set had highly detailed carvings too pain stakingly tedious to attempt a sander on and because it was covered in a 40 year old layer of nicotine from previous owner.

This went on like liquid glass out of a paint gun. Covered every nook effortlessly. I let it cure for 3 days, buffed with steal wool, then put the paint and clear coat down. Looks like we’ll get another 60 years out of it.

Ok first off I got the rustoleum automotive primer with the dark grey cap. The first problem is the color didn’t match the cap it sprayed black. The first problem I wouldn’t even mind if it wasn’t for how it stuck to my cars fender.

I sprayed it and let it sit 24 hours I knew it was gonna turn out bad the paint did not stick in a bunch of places and just completely wiped off with my hand completely ruined my project lots of sanding and I managed to save my ugly unpaintable fender.

Took the 3 cans I bought and exchanged them for some krylon rust preventer primer best primer I have used hands down will never use rustoleum ever again. Please trust me this junk sucks.

I’ve used a lot of different brands of primers over the years, I mainly restore farm equipment. By far the best adhesion to metal and it does get rather hard, fills good. I will buy again

As anyone who has used POR 15 knows, if you follow directions the product is GOING to do what is says it will do. on your skin, too. I asked around, of professional painters, and they recommended the tie-coat primer to go over the POR 15.

It works as advertised and you can top coat your color after it has set. For my ’66 Mustang rain rails I did a brush paint. DO follow directions or you will be disappointed and, naturally, it will be somebody else’s fault.
