20 Best Power Tool To Cut Blackberry Bushes (2023 Updated)

This is the best tool I’ve used to tame overgrown brush on my property. I was able to put on thick gloves and work through overgrown wild blackberry vines fairly quickly. Of course, it’s great for trimming hedges too, but I’m really impressed with how powerful it is on tougher jobs.

I will never be without one of these again. I’ve wasted hours upon hours before with loppers and other types of tools, this one gets the job done so much easier. It’s also pretty lightweight, so I don’t get any shoulder strain.

If you have a property to clear, do yourself a big favor and get one of these. It’s more powerful than you might think and useful for many things.

Pros: Light weight, cuts on both sides of the blade. Good value for someone that will not put too much stress on it , and not try to cut anything over 1/2″. Cons: Will not cut Stems/branches 3/4″. The slot in the stationary blade will allow a 3/4″ branch, but the moveable cutting blade is only 1/2″.

So regardless of the advertising, it’s capacity is 1/2″. If you keep pushing on a larger than 1/2″ stem it will eventually “Chew” it off leaving a very jagged edge on the stem, and taking a lot of time.

Just shut it off and cut the large stem with a pair of hand pruners, then finish with the trimmer. For normal light work it is ideal, but for heading back old overgrown shrubs you will need a loper as a accessory.

I used to own a 30″ Little Wonder trimmer that had two reciprocating blades, and would cut anything up to 1/2″ with ease, and fast. Also, the cord holding feature will not work on 10 AWG extension cords.

Minor problem just tape it to the handle. Bottom line: Great for a home owner that will use it maybe two times a year, and not cutting thick stems. (recommended).

I’m only giving three stars because the one screw was bent when I got it. First of all black and decker shouldn’t even put all screws in them until we put them in when we go to out the handle on it they should put them in a little plastic bag then it wouldn’t get bent like that.

It’s ashame because I can’t even out the handle on it until I get new screw for it. I already contact the black and decker company and told them about it. For the money I paid for I shouldn’t have to take out the bent screw to out new handle in so they should mail me new screws.

So I didn’t get a chance to use it yet.

I have a full size corded hedge trimmer. I hate it. I only have a few hedges and the time it takes to get everything organized to use it seems lime more of a hassle than it is worth, so my hedges usually get unruly.

I came across this little trimmer and decided to try it. It arrived 20 minutes ago. I slapped a 4 AH battery in it and finished about 10 minutes ago. Changing from the grass trimmer to the hedge trimmer was easy.

Just watch the grease when changing the blades. I was worried that it might not be able to handle the more branch like parts of the one hedge, but it was not an issue. With a 4 AH battery, it was still super light and easy to handle.

I like the shorter blade for the small hedges because I am working close and able to see the entire cutting area. I wasn’t worrying about a longer blade taking chunks out of the hedge next to the one I was working on.

I was able to get a nice shape to them very quicky. I had it on the shelf next to the trimmer that I am selling and the battery on the charger in no time. This is a game changer for me. This is the year my yard is going to look amazing thanks to the collection of Worx tools I have been gathering.

This tool arrived two days ago and I used it extensively to cut back the faded stems on about 50 feet of hostas and used the shrub trimmer on about 20 feet of low shrubs. It worked well. Certainly proving the adage that the right tool makes the job easier! I have two concerns – First, will the blades stay sharp ? Both blades worked well but will they stay sharp? Second, both blades had thick grease where the blade connects with the motor.

Will this last? Will it get gummy? I will try to update this review as time goes on. I see some criticisms about the strength of the motor. The 20V motors are simply not as powerful as a gas or even an electric motor – but I expected that to be in the case.

I found that the tool had the right power for the job. The first day that I used it, I thought that holding the safety button was a little annoying, but the second day, I didn’t even notice it. Bottom line – assuming it stays sharp, I am very satisfied with this purchase.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and used it to trim all of the shrubs around my house. The small size with the 8” blade is the perfect size. It doesn’t tire my arm as I cut a lot of shrubs. However, the blade needs to oscillate about twice as fast.

It’s rather slow so I can only move it at a very slow pace for it to cut adequately. The second drawback is the bottom plate that keeps the blade attached to the tool comes off very easily. It came unattached several times during use and the blade fell off.

One time a small spacer also fell off and it took me 20 minutes to find it so I could reattach the blade. I was not cutting anything approaching the thickness that should have caused a problem. So, the concept is just right – a small handheld hedge trimmer that doesn’t tire you out.

The cons are that it seems underpowered and the blade attachment cover needs to be better attached so it doesn’t come off during use and potentially cause lost parts.

I oder this product for my uncle for Father’s day and he was so excited! About it because he kept saying he had to buy one to keep his bushes cut and trim. He just thank me over and over telling me how he appreciate me.

Amazing tool. Running on the interchangeable 20 volt B+D Li-Ion batteries -which have excellent running time each -, the tool is light, with hand purchases that are comfortable. It’s super easy to wield and has great cutting power.

I could just wave it through Forsythia shrubs that I’d had to do time-consuming individual lopper cuts on before. It had no trouble pruning the smaller branches of our front-yard Rhododendron. I am VERY pleased.

It reduced an hour of yard work to minutes!.

This is a great little hedge trimmer. Powerful, versatile, easy to use, not heavy. I was able to trim some seriously overgrown hedges that had some nasty brambles throughout. Took me over an hour but the battery lasted and the machine performed consistently from start to finish.

I had to lift it above shoulder height to trim down the top of the hedge and it wasn’t so bad. Some larger branches got caught but I could free them easy enough. I consider my money well spent!.

I have a 15 year old privet hedge, 10 x 6 x 100, that I cut back and shape a few times each summer. This light weight trimmer carved through the hedge like it was butter. I had been using a much smaller, handed down, corded black and decker that was impossible to lug around and always managed to drop its cord.

This guy is light and strong. I hit a sale that threw in a second battery for free. I can easily get through the entire hedge with both batteries and have power left to shape up the rest of my shrubs.

I thought about going with a larger cordless trimmer like Toro but was turned off by its weight and price. For $99 plus a free second battery, it fit my needs at an excellent price.

I purchased the Black and Decker 24 inch, 40 Volt hedge trimmer after previously purchasing the companion string trimmer and blower/leaf vac. I have had great experiences with both of them, with the exception that the batteries take about 15 minutes longer to recharge than the run time on the string trimmer (25 – 35 minutes).

So one of my justifications for purchasing this unit was to get a third battery and charger. By purchasing the hedge trimmer, I got it for about $35 more than the cost of just a battery. Now I can run continually with any of the three units by rotating batteries.

(At least that is the justification that I gave my wife. Her reply was that now I’m not allowed to take breaks. My mistake there. ) I am very pleased with the trimmer, although I have only used it once to cut down some overgrown yews.

It powered through the rather tough branches easily. I didn’t use it on the 3/4″ branches that it is advertised for, but did cut right through many 1/2″ and smaller branches with little effort. The safety switch is the most convenient one that I have every used.

A plus there. The balance of the handle was very good. It was easy to maneuver around the bushes and keep in control. After using a corded B&D trimmer for 35 years (still runs well), it is nice not to have to worry about keeping the cord out of the blades.

The only negative was that there is a black plastic guard that snaps in front of the handle to provide additional protection. It is designed to have some give rather than breaking, and has come off once while in use.

I’m not sure that I had it fully snapped on, so that may have been operator error. However if it comes off again, it will be easy to add a small piece of tape to secure it. Other than that, this seems like a rock solid tool.

I expect to get at least 15 years use out of it, then turn it over to my grandkids.

Works very well. I have mobility issues with my wrists and hands, and this trimmer was easy to handle and hold. The handle and guard plate makes the trimmer safe to use. Nothings flew into my face during use.

All the diameter branches on our bushes were trimmed easily, including some smaller limbs from a tree. The battery is easy and fast to charge, and place in the machine. You keep the switch engaged during use.

Once you remove your finger then the machine stops cutting. This is a great feature for safety. Depressing the button is not difficult or hard on the fingers. With two hands this machine is light and easy to maneuver at various branch heights.

I’m a small woman and I give it a rating of five stars for it being easy to use with great results!.

Works great. I am a great grandmother and I can no longer handle a heavy weed eater. This is perfect for me to use. I received it yesterday, put together and charged it up, then used it yesterday evening.

I like this multi-function trimmer except the cart wheel is pretty “cheesy. ” It fell off the tool a couple times while trimming. Also, the product arrived quickly, but the box was open on one end and haphazardly taped shut.

The first thing I did was check to see everything was included in the box. Makes me think it was a return and not new.

YOU MUST PULL THE CHAINSAW BRAKE HANDLE BACK UNTIL IT CLICKS BEFORE IT WILL START ON FIRST USE. You have to snap it back fairly hard to get it to click. Not sure why the manual does not says this in bold letters.

A lot of reviews on HSN are saying the chainsaw does not work out of the box. I am sure this is the reason. It does not come with chain saw oil. Adjustable to 8 feet long if you want it that long. No other product at this price will give you this much reach and angle adjustment for a electric hedger that I could find.

Works well. I have not been able to use the chainsaw portion, but the hedge trimmer with telescoping pole is working well. I bought this because I have a bush at my house that is approx 8 feet around and 12 feet high.

With my old hedge trimmer, I was unable to reach the very top of the bush. With the telescoping pole, I am able to reach the very top, even though I still need to use the ladder. The hedge trimmer also seems to be more powerful than the one it replaced.

That isn’t what I use it for. Where I live (santa cruz mts. , california bay area) we have annual profusion of a dense week known as french/scotch “broom” which is very flammable and develops a tall and woody bush.

It is necessary to remove these for fire clearance regulation compliance. This hedge trimmer is very good for use as sort of a high-end bush whacker, on rugged terrain. String trimmers cannot handle the thicker broom, but this tool makes pretty fast work of it.

Two improvements I would like to see (neither are killer issues): make the shoulder strap longer (greater range of adjustment) with an anchor that can slide closer to the cut-head, for balance; make the telescoping mast extend MORE.

Good machine, works very well, gives you that extra reach when required. Our hedge is roughly 13 feet high. Changing lengths is very quick and easy. It’s a mite heavy when you’re working arms extended, but part of that might be attributed to being 75.

Overall a a really good buy, well worth the price. I would not hesitate to do it again.

I ordered 1 and the box arrived pre-opened and taped up in bad shape, so I sent it back and reordered another one. The second one arrived the same way and I sent that one back as well. It made me believe that these must be poor quality or performance because apparently these were 2 out of 2 that someone returned prior to me ordering.

Very inexpensive solution to a big problem for us. I wanted a pole hedge trimmer and looked around for something decent at a good price – we don’t need a professional-level tool, merely something to trim some hedges that live behind our home and get out of hand about once a year.

The battery in this unit lasts about 45 minutes of hard work, so it took two charges, but it worked perfectly. It hacked through some thorny and rough brush with ease. My only complaint is that it is top-heavy.

So, after about 30 minutes of sustained use, whatever arm is out front will be feeling it. Still, for $100, it really can’t be beat.

This cordless trimmer sure beats having to drag a power cord around and therefore my number one reason for getting it. The adjustable angle trimming head is also a very good feature. It seems to be a tad on the heavy side or seems so after carrying it for 15-20 minutes but I’m in my late 60’s and overweight, so that’s a factor.

I haven’t used it for periods longer than 30 minutes so I don’t know how long a battery charge lasts but I know it charges up fairly quickly. Having Xylosma hedges nearly 10 feet tall makes the pole feature with an extra few feet of reach another big plus.

The negatives for me are two-fold: First, the power trigger is locked until you release a thumb activated switch that automatically locks the trigger in the off position again once the trigger is released.

Secondly there is no way to lock the trigger into the on position. Needing to always unlock the trigger for power and not being able to lock the trigger into a power on position can be annoying at times.

The upside is that it improves your safety and conserves the battery life between charges. Maybe this contrary trigger setup is a Government requirement, don’t know. Despite this annoyance I’ve always gotten good service from Black & Decker tools and I think this cordless trimmer is a winner.

I love this pole trimmer. Yes it is obviously a little top heavy because the motor is at the top of the trimmer. Other than that it does a GREAT job. I was very disappointed though in the battery which came with it.

I was hoping that it was interchangeable with my 20 volt B & D hedge trimmer which has 2 good sized Lithium batteries. Then I would have back up batteries instead of waiting for it to be charging. Really felt that was pretty crappy of Black and Decker when they are BOTH 20 volts.

It’s kinda like screwing the consumer. Other than that I do like it and I am very happy I bought it. I do have some very tall shrubs to trim which makes it a ladderless job.

To be honest, I was a bit underwhelmed. First: it very top heavy. Which would not be so bad if it had a auto lock switch on the power button. If that was the case, both hands could be used to hold it toward the middle.

Which would make controlling its unbalanced weight, much easier. As it is, you need on hand to hold two switches. Second: For whatever reason, it just did not seem to cut that well. Unlike my regular cordless hedger, this one usually took multiple passes to successfully cut one area.

But, with some work and effort. It eventually got a job a regular hedger wouldn’t be able to reach. done. So, that might make be good enough, for most.

I had a less powerful pole trimmer that wouldn’t cut through the thicker branches so I replaced it with this one. Have not had any problems with insufficient power with this one. I have a number of tall evergreens and other tall shrubs and this one eats right through them, where as my old trimmer had to gnaw on them for a while before making any progress.

I have another trimmer that I use for shorter bushes and only use this one for tall bushes, since this one is considerable heavier. This trimmer is heavier than my old pole trimmer and I do notice it, especially when I have to use a ladder and extend the trimmer out to maximum reach, but it has reduced the time it takes to get the job done.

Now that I’m in my late 70’s, I probably notice the weight more now too. I’m sure I wouldn’t have noticed it 10 years ago, but it becomes very noticeable now after two or three hours using it fully extended.

Since I only have to do this 4 or 5 times a year, I can put up with the extra weight. Anyway, its a wonderful trimmer and it has reduced my cutting time in half. I give it a big 2 thumbs up.

Can’t believe I hadn’t purchased one of these earlier. Been paying a yard crew up to $400 each year to trip hollies, hedges and other buses in our townhouse yard which is very dense. Small but dense.

The dual hedger and separate pole trimmer are well made and easy to use. I use a 100′ electric cord and it covers the entire yard although I move it once — front and back. Others had complained about the weight of the telescoping unit but I’m 73 and 165 lbs and had no problems.

Wouldn’t want to do it all day but with about 6 trees roughly 12-15 feet tall it did the job. Had to use the first step of a ladder to get one that was a little taller but nothing dangerous. Well made, plastic to reduce weight, sharp blades cut up to about 3/4 inch.

Cut yard time to a couple hours instead of a couple of days. You won’t be sorry you gave it a try.

I’ve been using it for a few months now with and without the extension. I am the kind of guy that just wants to get out there and get the yard work done where as my wife loves to take her time shape and landscape.

Without the extension pole: my wife and I seem to like the maneuvering capability to shape our hedges and bushes compared to the old hedge trimmer that this one replaced. The extension cord can easily be tucked into the machine handle so it doesn’t get caught or disconnect while shaping.

With the extension pole: I do love the reaching capability and I have been able to ditch the ladder with this product. It is quite heavy on its full extension which will provide quite a work out. Once you get use to it, you’ll be fine.

My wife will take frequent breaks but agrees it is better than trying to over reach on a ladder. So overall: excellent product and I hope it will last for many seasons.

Having several tall trees on my property I have used various pole saws and pruners all having limited effectiveness and usually lots of problems. I’ve used the heavy steel branch loppers with ratchet that can be mounted on long poles, but these are extremely heavy and the rope pull always tend to bend the extension, so often more a hazard than help.

I gave this unit a try, and I was so surprised how effortlessly cutting was for most of the out of reach branches. Since the pulling ribbon is inside, the pole does not bend when cutting. Also the cutting head is very light, approx 2 pounds so there is little difficulty in balancing the extended pole overhead.

Also the cutting blade has a very full range of angle to get the best cut position. For those instances of some thicker branches it comes with an attachable saw blade.

Bought it sight unseen. Needed long reach, ability to cut through thick limbs, and no awkward cord to pull with one hand while trying to hold the shaft with the other (been there, done that. never again).

Had low expectations as seemed to be too good to be true. Man, was I pleasantly surprised. Works like a dream: easily cuts through thick limbs with loppers, light and easy to handle fully extended, smooth as silk and important to me, it lays flat (diagonally) in the standard 8 ft bed of my pickup.

Haven’t used saw blade yet. Only question now is how long will it last. Seems really well made and I have my fingers crossed. Great value. very pleased so far. Oh yeah, forgot something. I was skeptical about the clunky looking lopper angle adjustment feature.

I love it! Just visualize how you would cut a limb at any strong angle other than horizontlal. It is an outstanding feature.

The 20V hedge trimmer was bought to be a companion to the WORX string trimmer and leaf blower that my wife has been using for years. She used the hedge tool to trim a Red Turk’s Cap bush and dwarf citrus trees.

The tool made short work of the over-exuberant spring growth. I was impressed that the hedge trimmer cut through the aggressive Turk’s Cap branches, some of which were 3/8-inch in diameter. It did leave somewhat ragged ends on those fibrous branches, but it did cut through; cleaner cutting on the woodier citrus growth.

She, my wife, can handle the tool. And she, the tool, can handle the job. I am invested in battery-powered tools of another brand, so I initially explored a hedge trimmer compatible with those. But user reviews led me to favor this one.

Further examination of the intelligent design of WORX tools sealed the deal. The two-hand safety interlock of the hedge trimmer handles is appreciated. The multi-battery design for higher-voltage tools is interesting.

I’ve already followed up with the purchase of the NITRO Wet-Dry Vacuum to replace an ancient cord-powered unit, and I have my eye on the 5” Pruning chainsaw.

I have owned many Hedge Trimmers in the 20″ through 24′ size. The brands for example were Craftsman, Black & Decker, Toro, just to name a few. They were all 110v, not battery operated as is the WORX.

I found all these to be inferior to the WORX. They were noisy when running, regardless if the blades were oiled or not. None of them would cut branches much greater than 1/4″, not even the latest Toro.

The trimmers would keep bouncing off the 1/4″ branches and not make an even clean cut. The trimmers would just beat the branches to death. They all were awkward to use and heavier than the TORX. The TORX on the other hand cuts the best, even clean cuts I have done up to approximately 1/2″ or thicker branches.

The trimmer was quiet and I did not hear the blades banging together as did all of the 110v trimers. Cutting from any angle or side was no issue for the TORX trimmer. It is balanced perfectly for the user and much lighter than all the 110v’s I have owned.

I could not be happier for choosing the battery operated TORX for my trimming needs and this experience has caused me to purchase other TORX quality outdoor equipment. Thank you TORX for meeting the needs of customers like myself and other “DIY”.

After my wife cut the cord of our old hedge trimmer, we bought a battery-powered one. In spite of the battery; it can be maneuvered to different positions & it’s wt & drag is DEFINITELY less than the cord version.

HOWEVER – there seems to be Quality Control/warranty issues. ! of the 2 screws which are used to hold the trimmer shield was missing up receipt – & after 2 calls to customer service, I still have NOT received a missing screw (although the screw is used NUMEROUS places on the unit).

Screws for shield are not packaged WITH the shield in the manufacturing process, so getting a replacement screw is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT & unsuccessful a week short of a month at this time. Great product with poor production step.

Ive been waiting to ger my hands on the new 1800 watt version bolt buster for years, first I wanted to get the venom but after awhile changed my mind as this model has almost twice the amount if power for a lesser price.

It also comes with an entire assortment if coil sizes. too many times Ive suffered a seized rusty bolt or nut and resorted to those tiny mapp or propane gas torches! Well no more, this thing Rocks! Its already saved me a few times, it literally turns 17mm sized nuts to red hot in 10 seconds, used it on stabilizer links.

This new upgraded model cuts the time in half Im sure as Ive seen vids of the older model take up to a minute. Im lucky I was able to grab it at a very price and couldnt deny myself anymore. I want to next purchase the 96 in bearing buddy litz coil and the magna coil and see what applications theyll work on.

My neighbor has had one for more than a year. I wanted one since I first saw it in use. I had to talk myself into buying it, and I wish I had listened sooner. I actually used it on rusted suspension bolts and nuts the day it arrived it is amazing the difference between fasteners heated using the bolt buster and those heated using an acetylene torch.

Its so much faster at heating the nuts that the bolts dont get as hot so the nuts come off easier. The demonstration video at the bolt buster website is something very much worth the time. The first video is an ad.

Bolt Buster does an amazing job of Heating -Up Bolts, Nuts, and shafts that are seized by corrosion. It can accommodate varied sizes, and the leads can be configured to address even hard to reach fasteners.

As soon as I unpacked the trimmer I put it to good use. It took a little adjusting to get the balance of the longer type of trimmer. It Has a powerful motor, surprising being battery operated. Once I adapted myself to its need for its proper trimming.

Everything went along smoothly. Even when I extended the cutter to its full length and adjusted the angle of the head. The cut was as easy as standing on the ground…which I was. At 77ys I’m told to stay off ladders, grin.

I would have given this set up a 5 star rating if I could use the cutter without the extension so I could do lower cuts without the weight or long arm to contend with. Where I live I don’t have storage room for multiple trimmers.

This thing is too darn heavy to use. I have the regular cordless Worx hedge trimmer and love it, so I thought I’d buy this to avoid ladders and to be able to reach the top that I can’t reach even with a ladder.

I just tried this for the first time, and it’s just TOO heavy. It should include a strap that goes around the body like the Worx video from the UK. I just wasted my money on this thing, and I am not happy.

When people tell you it’s heavy, unlike my stubborn self. believe them. I’m a 71-year-old woman who pretty much does all my own lifting/carrying/etc. but this is just too hard. I gave up after about 10 minutes of trying and will have to hire someone.

Obviously someone at Worx knows this needs support to be useful since the UK video shows a strap, so what’s the deal, Lucille?.

I own more than 20 WORX products, most of which are gardening tools and none have ever disappointed me. They are reliable, well made and for me as a 70 year old woman, easy to handle. The tools are also easy to use right out of the box– no extensive reading materials are included.

Straightforward assembly instructions and explanations are included as well as any necessary attachments. I am more than happy with the WORX items I have purchased and am always on the lookout for other items that will make my gardening projects even more enjoyable.

As happy as I am with the tools and other products the Customer Service personnel is right up there with being so kind and so knowledgeable. They are such a credit to the company!.

Liked price, quick one step assembly, strength of materials. Disliked: weight. very heavy. Difficult to lift and hold if it is extended more than halfway if you want to trim tops of tall hedge on a ladder (yes I know you can fold out to a 90 degree but that only gives you 21 inches of blade or less).

Dislike opening in handle for cord hook. really have to force a thick coated cord thru the small opening. Dislike: blade is not very sharp, relies on brut force to cut. Dislike: strap is too short. instructions say to put over left shoulder.

To use properly due to the too heavy weight you need to put over shoulder AND neck (I would note the switch release is on one side only meaning it can only be used with the right hand. this restricted use) I’ll update this if I can figure out a more comfortable way to handle and use this tool.

What works: really good reach and great range of angle at the head. Price is also great. What DOESN’T work: 1. Quality is a concern, looks worn even upon opening the box which was re-taped, so that is a concern because it seems that the wrench is missing and the latch is not evident to hold the poles.

2. it is rather noisy, comes close to a gas motor and that was a surprise. 3. Heavy at front and the strap helps but is placed too far back to balance. Unless you are trimming high up, this is very awkward for where a normal hedger might function much more easily.

4. Cutting speed is notably slower than some battery units that top out at well over 3000 strokes per minute A better design would allow it to serve as a normal hedger and use poles to lengthen rather than having them built in.

The trimmer came packed in a strong box. It takes only a few minutes to assemble the shield and handle. I sprayed the blades with WD40 then went right to work on my bushes. This is a great trimmer. Very sharp and cut into heavy evergreens very well.

My last trimmer was also a Black and Decker and it lasted over 30 years. This new trimmer is easy to ues and it is well balanced. I have bad shoulders but this is light enough for me to use. Once it is running you do not need to keep pushing the lock button.

It will not fit back in the box, for storage, after the handle is installed. Too bad it does not include a blade shield. My old one does not fit as these blades are wider. Great trimmer.

Love This thing. Cuts through average bushes and hedges with ease, even used it on 3ft tall grass for an over grown lot to make it easier so the push mower so it wouldn’t get tangled up or bogged down.

Chewed through it all, blew my expectations out of the water!!! Great quality, love the blade design. Easy to lubricate blades. Batteries are cheap, and don’t run down quickly. Just blown Away with this Trimmer.

The hedge trimmer is solid and very well built. It makes the work of trimming hedges very easy because the motor is very powerful. It is lightweight and ergonomic. I should have bought this ages ago.

Zero stars if I could! This is the most frustrating string trimmer I have ever used. I have a whole set of Milwaukee lawn care tools that I like, but this trimmer is a joke. The line knots up in the trimmer head constantly, which means I’m spending most of my time manually resetting and rewinding the line in the spool.

It doesn’t auto feed. This happened right out the box so it’s not line type or technique. Also, I followed the manual instructions. I am attempting to cut regular weeds, nothing crazy. The good features of this trimmer are insignificant if it can’t complete the task.

I reached out to customer service but haven’t heard back. Is this a defect or is this just how this trimmer is? Either way it’s not working for me. I had to use my hedge trimmer to finish “weeding” my yard.

So disappointed in this expensive product that doesn’t work as advertised!.

After first use today, I was impressed with the power of this tool. At the same time I am very disappointed in a few things. First, there is no locking option for the safety trigger. It really wears out your thumb to have to hold it down for long periods.

A safety built into the main (bottom) power trigger would be a huge improvement. Second, the guard design causes debris to be directed up towards the users body and face. It covers you head to toe with whatever you are cutting.

I did find a full guard design (almost too large) but it seems it is only available on the European models/kits. I will be adding a cheap bolt on guard behind the one it came with to hopefully solve the problem.

But I really hate that I have to add on ugly junk to a brand new tool. This is the first Milwaukee tool I have purchased. Always heard great things and good reviews. As I said, it has a lot of power and what it is capable of is impressive which is why I gave 4 stars.
