20 Best Power Supply For Ryzen 5 5600X (2023 Updated)

Purchased this processor along with a new ASUS Tuf Gaming B550 Plus Wi FI MB, 32GB G Skill Ripjaws V32GB RAM, (and SATA DVD +/-rw) to upgrade an ATHLON II based machine. combine equipment to bring desktop up to today’s standards.

MB has many performance features, simple BIOS upgrades, and large RAM capacity. Processor is very fast, and has the ability to overclock, which I may pursue in the future, but do not need at the moment.

Processor also comes with a standard cooler, which manages standard processing temperatures with minimum work. No performance or temp issues are noted at all. RAM is also very stable and able to overclock.

very nice upgrade to 12 year old desktop computer, which now runs flawlessly. included drivers are latest, and all company web sites provide very good update support (including AMD monitor, which will compare current drivers with latest releases and update as needed.

Note: I built my current machine in 2010, which included DDRII, dual core, and existing IDE DVD burner. Updated to 600 watt PS and SSD in last few years, and very happy that I am able to continue with customizing my machine, which is much more stable and sure than the prebuilt machines offered in the big-box stores.

I recently bought a Steam Valve Index VR setup and started using it on my home theater PC (i7-6700 on an MSI Pro Carbon mobo with 16 gigs of ram and a GTX1080 GPU). I found that after running some games like Arizona Sunshine or Time Carnage VR, the CPU would spike up to 98-100% on all cores while the GPU was maxing out at about 45%.

I decided to rebuild the computer using this CPU, an ASRock B550 Taichi, and 32 gigs of ram. I kept the GPU since a graphics card will pretty much cost you an organ these days, and the 1080 is still a strong performer.

The 5600X is about 700 mhz faster than the 6700, has 2 additional cores and 4 more threads, a much newer architecture, and it made short work of load times! In addition to that, all cores peak at about 88%, and the GPU is now showing about 55% usage.

5600X and 6700 are both 65W chips, but it’s amazing what 4 or 5 years newer tech gets you! In the AMD lineup, for gaming, the 5600X is it. The 5800X is much more expensive for only modest gains (content creation tasks aside), and the 5900X or 5950X are waaaaay more expensive and very much aimed towards content creators.

The 5600X is probably the very best price:performance deal in computer chips in a very long time!.

You can spend days watching videos and reading reviews of the processor and it’s capabilities and I would assume if you are one of those people you won’t be here reading what this simpleton has to say about this processor.

I intentionally purchased this version as a nice performer, specifically to stay within my build budget and also maximize what computing power I could get out of this build. The balance in speed, cores, and features of the processor were ideal for my use case which is 1080 to 2K gaming, video editing and creation, and business needs.

The processor performs beautifully for what I need. Could I have more? Well sure, but all of that comes with added expense and you ultimately have to decide if you want a few more cores, or more speed and if that upgrade between processors is what’s best use of your money for you.

I find that this processor is one of the best values for the money and has been a solid performer. I’m absolutely thrilled. The bonus of you are trying to further pinch pennies is the included cooler.

While I did not use the included cooler, I cannot say how it performed but it does appear to be built well and would likely do a good job especially for the price depending on what you are asking of the processor.

You can always upgrade coolers at a later date if you wish.

What can I say about this CPU that hasn’t already been mentioned before? This is all you need unless you have a professional reason to have a stronger CPU (you will know if that’s the case), or if you’re willing to spend double the price of this to get on average 10% more performance in games.

By the time games truly utilize more than 6 cores you will need to upgrade this anyways. Single threaded perf is more important than core count for the average consumer. Dropped in replacement to replace a 2700x which I gave to someone for a budget build.

Performance in games is noticeably faster with a 3080 on 1440P high refresh rate. Less stuttering and way better 0. 1% and 1% lows. Couldn’t be happier. This will hold me over until Zen 6 / Lunar Lake at worst case scenario.

Avoid the 5600X unless it’s at true price parity with this, its at best %2 better which can be made up with PBO if you actually care about that.

Needed a new PSU as my former one was dying after 5yrs of use. It was my first time installing and swapping out a PSU, I did my fair research for seeking out a new one and how to setup. This one’s been in use for a month so far and has shown no signs of anything wrong or faulty.

Things have been going fine. My setup is a low-medium tier build, I got this to have a bit more power than required.

This is some high-quality power supply. Packed well, easy to install and very quiet. I honestly dont hear any difference when gaming or not gaming, its quiet all the time. I had no issues with the power supply so far MSI tomahawk, GTX 1660S, 16GB, AMD ryzen 3600, SSD+HDD.

Since it is modular, I could do cable management according to my case. I can only recommend it.

This was the last part I needed to upgrade in what has turned into an expensive music production system so I wanted it rock steady and 100% reliable. I had lived with my old and trusted PowerC but I was getting random shut downs and using Firewire it simply had to go.

It comes in a large HEAVY box but the CPU is quite small, standard I guess but the cables certainly are not there huge thick and PLENTY of them. YOU will not be short of cables with this and there all a good length to.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. It can even run fan less if you really have to NOT recommended.

I’ve been buying Seasonic since 1990 (and that original PSU is still going powering a Baby AT 486. touch wood!). Even when the PSUs have been branded Corsair or XFX I’ve always made sure that the OEM was Seasonic.

I’ve been a little alarmed of late to see that Seasonic have moved downmarket and are offering cheap yumcha-ish units. But as far as I can see (I respect the Warranty) the GX-650 is still a high quality unit with Japanese caps throughout.

I like the low noise switch too.

Overall, I would say if you got one with good silicone, then lucky you. I do not recommend this product and especially not if you want to overclock it. I dont think it would handle it very well, and would kill the processor in no time.

I have overclocked my 3600x and it seems fine, but now I am scared that it is going to go out on me too. I went against the grain, and all my friends called me crazy for going AMD and I just kept saying, watch and see, well now I am the one looking like an idiot because I have this ROG Strix board here but no processor for it, and used the computer for school.

Pretty messed up if I must say so. There are absolutely no bent pins, I always monitor thermals on my computers, so this is just a junky garbage processor,. I was thinking of getting one of the new 5600x processors too, but I do believe I’ll be going back to Intel, even if I have to buy a whole new board and processor, because I know AMD will not warranty this product.

It was bought on 6/3/2020 so its almoooost 5 months old, gee I have had disposable contacts last longer than that. Can’t afford to buy a new processor every five months. If AMD will allow a return for the same unit then I will change my overall review, but as of right now, 2 eggs and 2 eggs only, and thats mainly because I like newegg and the processor did get here fast, and was easy to install.

The rest of the experience with it was gargbage.

When I decided I wanted to build my family in North Carolina their own PC, I wanted to give them something with some punch, that wasn’t going to be too demanding to maintain, and a little more budget-friendly.

I also had not worked with AMD’s Ryzen products yet, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so. I knew the 2600 was the smart choice as it would give them the ability to do some more CPU-intensive tasks, and given the price at the time, it was the obvious choice.

I also chose the 2600 instead of the 2600X because I knew I could get a mild overclock and match the 2600X performance. This was also going to be my first air-cooled CPU (my first build was with an AIO and my second build is a custom loop), so I was eager to dive in.

Obviously, the CPU coming with a decent cooler was nice, although I later switched it out with a higher-performing Noctua cooler. It was a pleasant experience working with the 2600. Paired with an X470 ASUS Gaming-F board, it wasn’t that difficult to get the system up and running at stock settings.

It did take a bit to get a handle on the differences between BIOS settings on an AMD board versus an Intel board, but it wasn’t that bad and before long, I had dialed in a 4. 1Ghz overclock on the 2600.

4. 2 would boot, but no matter how much voltage I gave it, it couldn’t survive a stress test, so I settled on 4. 1, which was able to operate at 1. 3 volts (I believe; I could be wrong). With the Wraith Stealth cooler, temps would get around 70C or so, but that Noctua cooler knocked the overclocked temps down to a much nicer 60-65C.

Nearly a year later, there have been no reports of issues with the build and checking up on it during my vacation down there found everything to be in good condition once I cleaned things up a bit (they got a lecture about dusting and cleaning regularly).

I have nothing but nice things to say about the 2600 and Ryzen in general. No, it doesn’t clock as high as an Intel CPU, but for significantly cheaper, you still get solid performance. Nice job AMD!.

It itself is a decent CPU. But at the moment, there are no good motherboards to pair this which, heavily hampering it’s value proposition against it’s competitor, the 13600K, which it’s socket, the LGA 1700 socket, has matured to a point where there are good value offering for reputable brands.

This will most likely not be the case in the future, so don’t let this change your decision. Another issue is not supporting DDR4, which the 13600K does. So if you care about value, the 13600K is a no-brainer at the moment.

As for performance, according to AMD, it is roughly on par with Intel’s last gen 12900K! Usually this would be incredible, but remember, Intel isn’t playing around with 13th gen. Overall review: Due to it’s expensive adoption costs, and being a new platform, I would recommend a 13600K over this.

Im a terrible dad, I turned my kids GPUs that I bought into mining gear and now built them computers running off the 5600G. Ones 12 and the other is 6. They love Fortnite and Minecraft plus have a PS5, but theyre hooked on PC, but dont care about enthusiast level graphics and performance.

I was able to get Fortnite running 1080P epic with textures and view distance, shadows were down but anti aliasing was high and runs smooth like 45 FPS, so it can run 60 FPS with textures turned down, but not needed.

Minecraft was easily smooth and it ran Apex no problem. Luckily I can drop a GPU in later, but Yeesh by this time next year a 6600g might be out. Game performance seems to be on par with a 5700G. Ive been considering this setup for myself with the new GeForce Now offering a streaming service that provides RTX 3080 performance.

Its definitely worth a shot, resell value is so high. Itll only depreciate more than 10-20$ if you were to damage it. I have bought multiple of these, I have had no trouble with boards that were using 5000 series to begin with and Ive had no trouble with brand new boards, Ive had great luck with boards that were using 3000 series before, but only issues I had were when I bought used motherboards or refurbished motherboards.

I still have 3000 series chips to help with bios and all, but If youre building from scratch and youre buying a second hand or refurbished board, then good luck, my fail rate is like 60% with the boards, but to have backup boards to see that its not the CPUs fault.

Just pointing that out, because you can run into all kinds of stuff, cable loose, ram bad, psu gone bad, Ive had a case with a bad power button, to just swap everything over to another case to find out its just the power button.

I support second hand, I havent had any issues with second hand boards from trusted sellers on eBay, but I have from some of the so called top refurbishers found on Amazon and they can be found on eBay too, I dont believe theres much quality control happening on their end, when like new is Like Broken Actually and its why it was returned in the first place, then reboxed/refurbished whoops! Glob on the thermal paste strap on the easy diy fan and have some fun!.

I built a new system from scratch, and I wanted a powerful and versatile CPU that would handle a range of tasks gracefully and wouldn’t break the bank. I went with the Ryzen 5 5600G (integrated graphics) because I wasn’t ready to fork out the kind of money that GPU’s are fetching right now.

I paired this processer with an MSI B550 Mag Tomahawk mobo, 32 GB of G. Skill 3200 RAM, and an EVGA B5 series 750 Watt power supply. Before installing the cpu I flashed the motherboard BIOS as per the manufacturer’s instructions.

It was a simple and straightforward process. Upon completion of my build the system booted right up and has been running like a dream ever since (2-1/2 months). The Wraith Stealth cooler included with the cpu is extremely quiet, and keeps the temps low.

I use my machine for web browsing, word processing, video streaming, and heavy gaming. I don’t play the latest, greatest FPS games. My go-to games are Sniper: Ghost Warrior, Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, and 7 Days to Die.

I sometimes game for hours at a time, and pull a consistent 30 -35 fps in all my games at moderate settings. I think this is more than acceptable for integrated graphics. (For comparison, my 2-year-old Ryzen 5 3500U laptop with Vega graphics would pull around 11 fps at the same settings).

The highest my cpu temps have gotten is 70 degrees C (about 158 degrees F). The machine has been reliable and stable, with no issues at all. I call this Ryzen 5 5600G a winner, and I’m looking forward to being able to pair it with a powerhouse GPU once prices come down a bit.

This is a good workstation CPU/GPU. I use it for light video editing on Adobe Premier Pro, work from home and ultrawide gaming. I had the Ryzen 1600 since launch with a B350 Tomahawk, and the upgrade path was do-able to the Ryzen 5000 series with the bios update (1.

2. 0. 7). For several factors, I chose the Ryzen 5700G: Gaming: – have an ultrawide 21:9, so scaling CPU did not matter, rather no performance gains on expensive CPUs. – did not need extra threads after 8-core in gaming (actually 6-core 5600 would suffice).

– higher core clock frequency at 4. 56 GHz vs 3. 8 GHz on R1600, which gets better performance on single-core. Workstation: – Adobe Premier Pro; good performance gain. – RAM at 3200 MHz (with current, not able hit with R1600).

– 8-core is sufficient for my light use of video editing. Upgrade path: – allowed me to push my MB/RAM/6900XT, 5 more years with just one upgrade. – 50%+ gains previous CPU. – chose this over a used 3700x, because it has a GPU, with better performance.

– since I had PCIE-3. 0 on existing MB, 5600x series would not benefit me, as I would have to spend on PCIE-4. 0 MBs, which defeats the purpose of a one-item upgrade. – don’t judge, but I actually like Windows 11, so it’s a plus.

R1600 was not on the recommended list. Long term use: – past my 5 years excepted use (assuming PCIE-5. 0/DDR5 has matured), I plan on turning this machine into a server, which eventually be a greater lifespan than what I actually am using for.

If was only strictly gaming, I would have chosen R5600. But my preference has changed to light workstation use, so 5700G is the perfect CPU for me. Overall, chose this over because new and old CPUS, since it has a middle ground performance of 3700x5600x/5700x with a GPU.

This in-turn will give me a longer life as it will turn into a server for my HomeLab.

I was kinda nervous getting a power supply from a company that doesn’t normally make them but from my experience it seems to work just fine. Can’t confirm if it falls in with 80 Gold plus certification, but I’ve had no issues using it with my OC R9 3900xt and RX 5600xt.

The cables weren’t labeled well, they didn’t distinctly mark the difference between PCIe power cables and CPU power. The manual didn’t have any info except for Warnings and Disclaimers.

100% highest quality Japanese Nippon Chemi-Con solid state capacitors. Quality where it matters most. This would be sufficient for the most demanding of setups and coming with a ten year warranty how could you go wrong.

This my second unit after toasting a lesser 900w PSU whilst rendering I decided to trust Quality over Quantity. Having a PSU like this ensures that all hungry components are given the exact required power without having to worry of under voltage issues.

Nice quiet PSU. Plenty of connectors and long enough cables to use in a maxi tower. The bios monitor shows steady voltages even when I am using all 6 cores at 80%. Did my homework and I am glad I did.

This 500w EVGA performs admirably in my latest build.

The power supply works well for the current setup I have as well as it being 80+ White, although the lowest tier of efficiency, it performs adequately for its ranking. For the $50 price point its pretty good.

You could spend a little extra on a 80+ Bronze or higher, however, this power supply works as intended, if you dont have high expectations. This power supply is not efficient so your electric bill may have a slight increase, and you may experience some trouble with overclocking as I stated before, its not really efficient.

Arrived quickly using UPS (shipped from the shop – Vertex nano technology), cool ! It’s brand new, high quality, and it worked. Also BestBuy is really offering the lowest price, you can’t find this price in other sites.

I also love the semi-modular design, the fixed 24pin is always needed for me so it’s cool, and the optional pci-e cable really helped me to create more capacity and better cable management.

Compared to a CX-450 model we’ve been using for about 3 years this “refreshed” version of the CX-650 is slightly quieter and a little more efficient, mainly at low power loads where this one maintains better efficiency.

It’s only been in use a couple of weeks. Tried to trip it up with some demanding loads, and it remained solid and stable throughout. The test load included attaching 2 x USB portable HDDs in addition to the internal 1 x Sandisk 1TB SSD, and 1 x WD Red 3TB HDD, and 1 x Seagate 2TB HDDs, and 1 x Toshiba 6TB HDD.

Then select folders of videos totalling 40GB – 50GB and copy them simultaneously to and fro amongst all of the drives. During that transfer I launched a favorite game on max settings to ensure max power draw by the graphics card.

I didn’t notice any sign of sagging power or any other anomaly such as in-game stuttering or file copy slowdowns. The attached chart shows very stable voltages for 3. 3V, 5V and 12V. Importantly, there were no signs of overheating, either; thus, I’m satisfied the CX-650M is working as it should.

With all that HDD activity and my game running, eventually the CX650M’s cooling fan revved up after about 10 minutes. I should point out that the case has 2 x 120mm front intake fans, 1 x 140mm rear exhaust fan, and a Noctua cpu cooler.

Nothing is overclocked. The test continued for about 45 minutes of gaming and file copy/re-copy, and the cpu max. temperature was 64° C. There’s a standard 5-year warranty from Corsair. If you absolutely must have a top-drawer 10 year warranty then look to the more expensive model ranges.

We’ve been pleased with the CX-450 model that’s been in use for about 3 years, and look forward to this revised, improved CX-650M to work even better.

System is an I7-7700K @ 5. 2GHz, 2X GTx 460’s in SLI @ 750MHz , 6 hard drives, 6x 140mm Corsair RGB fans, Corsair H150I 360mm liquid cooled, custom video card cooling system,. I torture tested the system for 3 days Using OCCT’s PSU torture test, and believe me I was drawing 750 watts from the wall, I tortured it.

It performed very well, fan was not even always on its highest noise level. (HAD TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS STILL STABLE AFTER MOVING IT TO THE NEW CASE) Using my Automotive Oscilloscope Equipment I measured a 57 Amp draw on the 12v rail, and I measured a very nice, small ripple the whole time, this PSU should be stabil enough for a strong CPU / GPU with a hard Overclock without issues, only time will tell if it breaks down any after further torture.

I’ve been working both at home and out of an office since I bought my laptop last February, and there’s been a few times where I’ll forget to bring my charger going to and from my different workstations.

So I finally decided it would be best to get a 2nd charger to keep in my bag. Anyways, I first looked to my local laptop dealer (who I bought my Lenovo from) and they didn’t carry it, and I think I found other knockoff ones on Amazon, but I find Amazon a bit sketchy with electronics.

I didn’t expect Lenovo to sell this on their website, because I’ve never needed to go to the Lenovo website before, and I just assumed I’d need to go through a local dealer. But what really stood out too me was: 1 – How easy it was to find the exact item I was looking for.

It was very specific and clear, and I had complete confidence that I was getting what I needed, and that it was coming from a trusted source. 2 – How reasonably priced it was. I was expecting (and willing) to pay twice as much as what it was listed for.

I thought it would have been like buying something on Apple where they markup their proprietary accessories like crazy, but I was surprised it was less than $50. I was expecting $80, and was probably willing to pay as much as $100 for it.

And there was a discount and free shipping, so I was really pleased. Only downside was how long the shipping took (2 weeks). Longer than what I would have expected (I was hoping for 1 week or less), but whatever shipping was free and it’s not like I my original one was broken.

When it arrived I was pleased that it was the exact same size/shape and everything, because I’d rather not use a generic universal one, or one that was grandfathered from a newer or older model. Works perfectly/as expected.

I keep it in my bag for when I need to work out of an office workstation, and I keep my original plugged in at my desk at home. I’m so stupid for not doing this earlier, it makes things so much easier not having to worry about bringing it with me everywhere I went.

I never would have thought a charger would be a comfort item, but here we are. Anyways that’s my experience. I see a lot of people complain about the size (short cord, too boxy and heavy near the plug).

Both my workstations at home and the offices I work out of have power bars on the floor or table, so this has never been an issue with me. But yeah I can see how it would be annoying and frustrating if I needed to plug this in at a coffee shop or something, but so far this hasn’t been anything I would even have considered to be an issue in the 18 months since owning this current laptop.

I love the Lenovo laptop, but the chargers are seriously flawed. After a few years of owning a Lenovo Flex the charger gave out, trapping my daughter’s school work on a computer she could not turn on.

Tech assistance was nil because it would not power on, so I bought a new charger. All was well for a while, and there had been nothing wrong with the computer. Now one month later, the charger won’t charge again.

Lenovo chargers are flawed. I will have to switch to a different laptop brand.

In the busy-ness of leaving my daughter’s home in inland BC I forgot to pack my Lenovo wall adapter. I use the adapter with my Lenovo Ideapad 3, which I love sharing with my 5 year old granddaughter.

She loves to watch her Sue and Sam episodes via You Tube, and even knows how to enlarge the screen, pause and resume play, and skip the ads! I can count on the adapter to enable both of us to use the Ideapad whenever we want to without thinking that the battery might run low.

I can read or watch TV with her nearby. Thank you Lenovo!.

The service I received from DJ City was excellent. The only problem I have is with the actual power supply, which does not connect properly when it is plugged into the Behringer mixer. I have to fiddle with the power supply plug so as to get a proper connection, otherwise it does not power the mioxer.

It is important that it does connect properly, otherwise I cannot use it when I am using it for recording.

I took an educated guess, and I actually bought this item for a Phonic AM220 mixer. The plug is a tight fit in the socket to begin with. I think the plastic post is a tiny bit too big, but the shield and all of the pins are correct.

After a few goes it gets easier. And it works! I now have a working mixer again. You will not find a replacement PSU for the AM220 anywhere on the internet, and even the importers don’t respond to queries about it.

This item is your only hope.

I have only used it and the mixer once, for a live performance and it gave problems by constantly cutting power because the mixer’s mains input socket is so poor (small and no real input track for the PSU3’s mains plug) that the PSU3’s male input is necessarily flimsy.

When the mixer was working. all was well, but the constant power interruptions and the need to sort out the power supply was very off-putting for band and audience. I am unsure whether to blame the mixer or the PSU3; a pity, really, as the VFM potential is being under-whelmed.

This is being used in my sons gamin computer. Ryzen 5600x, 16 GB RAM, AMD RX570 Graphic Card. No issues. Very stable in the over 1 year we are using. Pros Stable, Price Cons Main 24 pin connector cable a bit stiff Recommended.

Most likely a decent product, good price for the features it promises. Unfortunately my unit was faulty. Even in idle it made a weird buzzing noise, which intensified under load. The first time the fan started spinning I thought the world had come to an end, but it was a faulty fan bearing making the noise.

Also the fan started spinning at quite the low temperatures, something to bear in mind if you are looking for a silent computer. All in all, not a very good purchase and I have since RMAd this and bought an EVGA powersupply instead.

I hope other have better luck with this product.

Great power supplies! I have the 650w and the 1000w versions. At first I had the 650w powering a Ryzen 5600x with an EVGA RTX 3080 FTW Ultra, two 5400 RPM HDD, two SSDs, and a ridiculous amount of RGB lights.

Had no issues running all of this. I happened to get an Intel I7- 10700KF for free, so I upgraded (side-graded?) my system to the 1000w model. Same GPU and lights, but i also added four more HDDs. I also overclocked the CPU and GPU since I have the extra headroom.

No issues at all with 1000w. The 650w will now go into my media center PC. The 1000w was a not brainier. With the discount and mail in rebate, I got it for the same price as many other brand’s 750w models.
