I’m laying in some supplies now, just in case, and Hormel Corned Beef Hash is one of my “go-to” choices. The food itself is outstanding, as is the promptness of delivery, but there are a couple of disappointments.

First, after adding the shipping costs, the price is not saving very much from a store trip. Second, the cans (or their contents) are getting smaller. Used to be the can contained 16 ounces of product, now it’s 14 ounces.

I don’t recall any price reduction to match the reduction in the amount of product, though. Looks like a stealth price increase.

What happened to this product?? No flavor at all, none. Very greasy, and. as an added bonus, gives you horrible gas for about two days after. I’ve eaten this for decades, loved to make a quick breakfast or burrito with it.

Now, it seriously smells like Alpo when cooked and is terrible. I won’t be buying it again. Sad, it’s something I’ve eaten my whole life.

For what this is, this is great. It’s a small can (but still makes a LOT), and it is more adaptable than I initially would have thought. Fried up of course it makes a typical easy hash good with eggs and hot sauce etc.

, old-school style. I’ve also microwaved it late at night when I was hungry and not in the mood to get into a fryfest; hey, it didn’t look quite normal, but it still was quite tasty that way too. I tend to get protein cravings late at night, and sometimes think in terms of the old diner type meals I’d have with my dad as a kid.

This hits that nostalgic spot easily and well.

Used to be much better, but product appears to have changed gradually over the years. Quality is so low that frying, baking. nothing will help this hash. The more we cooked it, the browner – not in a good way – the product became.

Water content is too high to make any crispiness at all. Would not recommend.

I love that this a four pack. I love that it arrives at my doorstep, I’m 68 and it’s difficult for me to tote and haul into the house from a detached garage. I love corned beef hash and wish I could have it everyday with a beautiful fried over easy egg and a slice of sourdough toast to sop up the egg yolk.

My entire family loves this brand because it has real substance even after frying it up. Add half an avocado and you’re ready to go.

Nearly 3 bucks is is starting to push it for hash, but if you like it, there’s no easy sub in. With eggs and grits/rice, its a breakfast fav. Best canned corned beef hash although M. Calender roast beef hash is equally good.

The product was as expected since the same item is frequently found in grocery stores. However, one of the cans (still within the carton) was badly dented to the point where I wondered whether the metal had been punctured.

After removing the product and filling the empty can with water to check for leaking, it appeared to be intact but was certainly considerably crushed.

Very tasty, good choice for breakfast. Enough for 3 servings in a can, or 2 large ones. Dosn’t seem as greasy as it use to be. You just put it in a fry pan, nothinh else, crisp it up, cook your eggs and you have breakfast ready.

Was happy to see this product online. Have ordered this 3 times for my husband. As for the price, at a local store 1 can is $2.59 for their brand, and $3.29 for Hormel. Thank you for the bargain!

This is the third time i purchased this product.It’s one of my favorite breakfast items. I’ve tried other brands. This brand lives up to it’s advertsing.

This is a canned product that truly tasted like its fresh counterpart! New Zealand beef is an excellent product There is quite a bit of fat in the cans, but it is easy to drain off after heating the beef up a bit.

Please consider adding this to your pantry, because it is simply delicious. Big Lots has the best price by far, as well. I fried some frozen (or fresh) hash brown potatoes, added some onion and then added this beef to make an exceedingly toothsome corned beef hash.

I saw this item in a local store and decided to give it a try. I use corned beef regularly and thought this might be a good change up. It costs a little more than the other corned beef brands but is well worth it as far as I am concerned.

There are many ways this product can be used. This product also has a long shelf life and therefore is a good item for your emergency food supply, and I keep a good many cans on hand at all times.

All the corned beef I’ve had in my life has been the authentic kind that was boiled in a pot. I thought I’d try this to see what it was like for convenience sake to make a simple sandwich with mustard.

This is no where near being actual sandwich-worthy corned beef. It is more like corned beef pate for spreading on a cracker while hiking the Appalachian Trail. Also, it’s imported from Brazil, so I’m concerned about the quality and safety standards.

That being said, it would make a perfectly acceptable survival ration. I won’t be repurchasing it.

I eat a lot of corned beef. Libby’s used to be the best – a 5 star product. Consumed it for decades. Most recent batch (expires December 2026) is much lower quality than previous ones. Looks like more fat, some skin, and not such a good taste.

More difficult to cut slices. Price was hiked around 20% overnight – yet quality slipped. Perhaps time to move on.

Used to be the best, but I opened my tin to find that 10% of the content was pure white fat. Cleaned it off and made a sandwich. Which tasted so fatty I almost gagged. Sandwich and remaining contents binned.

Perhaps i was just unlucky with this tin, but in this financial climate I can’t afford to simply hope for the best. Won’t be buying again.

This is a very poor product – it is not up to the standard to be sold in Waitrose. First of all, I was very disappointed to find this is a product of Brazil, I’d expect British corned beef from Waitrose.

Secondly, the texture is horrible. It has a rubbery consistency, which is unpleasant. And finally, the last jar I bought the key fell off so I was unable to open. It’s a shame Waitrose couldn’t produce their own corned beef, I’m sure it’d be nicer than this dross.

I received these as a substitute for the Smart Price corned beef which I think is very good and I don’t need to be picking out arteries and tendons from that corned beef. This corned beef is not on par and the quality is bad considering this is a big company and been around for years.

I don’t recommend as it is too much work extracting tendons and arteries, whilst cooking and eating I’ve had 2 tins and both been the same nonsense.

These are so great. You’re probably thinking “canned potatoes? Gross!” No way. They’re amazing. So easy and quick. Putting them with olive oil and salt and then air frying them is seriously delicious.

They get SO crunchy. You’re paying for the convenience a little but since you can get 10# of raw potatoes for $2. 50 but these are SO worth it.

I love using these New Potatoes for a variety of dishes. One easy dish is Fried Breakfast Potatoes. They are so easy to make you simply open a few cans of New Potatoes drain the liquid off then rinse them off and drain them again.

Melt some butter or oil (enough to cover the bottom) in a frying pan dump the Potatoes into the frying pan and add salt and pepper. Cook them over medium heat turning them every few minutes. You can cover them.

Let them cook until they start turning golden brown. You can also add onions and peppers if you have them.

Hands down one of the best canned items. Sooo versatile that these are a pantry staple. Perfect for almost any potato dish. No peeling slicing or dicing (if you choose to get that variation) they come whole, sliced or diced.

My favorites are to throw in soups or stews, mixed with other vegetables like their green beans, mashed and fried as breakfast potatoes!.

I had not opened ‘this’ container yet. I will be happy to follow up after the Coronavirus passes for those of us left (HA!). In the early stages of prepping I purchased small quantities of off the shelf canned and dry foods ($$$).

Once I had what I needed for 6-months, I started to replace those items with products that last for years. In this case several decades. Actually saves money. In case you might be looking for these products – no one has any left (as of March 2020)! Not Emergency Essentials, not Augason Farms, not Walmart.

I love these dehydrated potatoes for long term food storage and also for home made hamburger helper. Great in casseroles. Just place the needed amount of potatoes in warm water to hydrate them or drop as is into soups.

They hydrate very well. This product is very convenient and the price is well worth it. Walmart always give the best price on this. Take it from someone who tried to dehydrate potatoes myself that the process is very time-consuming.

And if you get the starch in your sinks you will ruin your plumbing just as I did. It is more convenient to buy it online at Walmart. Trust me on this one.

Awesome hash browns! I put a handful in a measuring cup, added cold water to cover them very well and put them in the microwave for two minutes. They rehydrated in five minutes. Drained and fried them in a touch of oil to go with my corned beef hash and eggs with mozzarella melted on top.

Totally excellent! Two negatives: The can was hard to open with my electric can opener. I wonder why? It opens everything else, but this is a heavy steel can. Also, the can was just over 2/3rds full.

Would rather the can reflect the amount of potatoes inside, because this is a huge can to store in very limited space. The cons do not affect product quality in any way, just convenience.

I love Allen’s Diced Potatoes. We’ve been eating these in our house for twenty years. They’re diced in such nice, even little pieces and the quality is great. No one would ever guess these were canned potatoes.

Our favorite way to prepare these is in a skillet with butter and garlic powder. But, they’re also great for stews and soups. Since they’re already diced, they save lots of time and energy. I love these potatoes.

Plenty of spuds for this potatoholic! The can is well filled. I divided them into 64-oz containers and put them at the back of my fridge to stay fresh, but use them fast so there’s no worry about spoilage.

I appreciate that the potatoes are not overcooked. All would be perfect except both cans I got so far have been pretty dented. They need to be more cushioned for shipping.

Allens Diced Potatoes are great in soups and chowders. This product saves time and money and is of high quality. At home, we pair these with teriyaki flavored boneless chicken thighs in a skillet with butter and garlic seasoning.

It is a most delicious one-pan meal. We loved Allens.

I’ve purchased these potatoes on occasion over the years and they have been fine but not when purchased through Walmart. I’ve read on line that Walmart is able to sell products cheaper because they purchase lesser quality products from these large manufacturers but paying a few pennies less is not more economical when I have to throw the entire can of potatoes out.

I still might buy the potatoes but not from Walmart since I don’t want to waste my money on something I have to throw away. These potatoes might be okay but not when purchased from Walmart.

Great product. I was surprised when I open the can not too greasy cooked it with cabbage and potatoes my husband loved it. I ordered 7 they came separately 1st one with 3 cans and 2nd one 4 cans shipping was from FedEx.

My go to brand for corned beef. Just saute witht onions and tomatoes and serve with rice!

Best corned beef brand in my opinion. Just sautee with garlic and add some Knorr liquid seasoning (shhh, that’s my secret). Perfect breakfast.
