20 Best Portable Ac For Pop Up Camper (2023 Updated)

This is an update of earlier review seen below. My issue with this unit was when started and set to desired temp the compressor would run for 3-8 min then cycle off, then 4 min later the compressor would kick back on, the fan would always keep running.

In Aug, here in Florida the compressor was just not running long enough to get the Travel Trailer down to desired temp between cycles. I then figured out if you set the thermostat to the coldest setting, 60° the compressor will continue to run without cycling, getting my ducted 24′ travel trailer cool very fast, probably from 95° to 72° in about 10 minutes.

Then I set it to my desired temp and it returns to cycling but maintains the desired temp. PREVIOUS REVIEW BELOW. I installed this 15k heat pump unit in a 2013 Fun Finder X215 WSK travel trailer with inside dimensions of 21’Lx7.

en though it never makes it to the set temp. The fan continues run but with the compressor off it just never gets down to the programed temp. Even if I set the temp at 69f with outside temp of 90 it will get down to only about 76, even when the sun goes down and outside temp is in mid 80s it still will cycle and only cool to the same 76 deg.

It gets the temp down pretty quick, just not as low as it seems it could if the compressor would just run longer. This is disappointing as this camper is pretty well foam insulated. I’ve not tried the heat pump yet but have run the dehumidifier option and that seems to do a good job.

For the most part it’s a Good cooling unit. However the concern or issue that I have is That the fan never goes off. We live in a very humid part of the country and When the compressor shuts down or in other words when it stops cooling the fans stays on.

What that ends up doing is pulling pulling humid air into the air to the area. Even in driving mode you have to set the temp colder than the room to work. So when the unit is cooling the humidity Gauge goes down.

Then when it’s too cold in the rv the unit stops cooling however the fan comes on. Humidity goes from 50% to 80% until the unit starts cooling again then back down to 50. haha crazy design so DO NOT BUY IF YOU LIVE IN or plan to use in HUMIDITY areas.

unfortunately as of now I tried to reach out to find a solution. There is none and rec pro dose not have a technical department to assist. For now we see the unit as an emergency Backup to our one we already had and works.

Debating on returning but not sure if I want to go through the hassle especially how the customer service was not to helpful already. That’s not counting pulling the unit out of it install. So for now just be aware and know that customer service can not help technically.

When I asked if I should just talk to the manufacturer they basically told me that will be super hard since it’s a product from Australia. I really really really really want to like this unit. I just hoped rec pro was a little bit more accommodating as well in something to help this feel better.

Product just installed and tested fine. Will keep 2022 Ford Transit Connect cool and comfortable. Given Ford Transit Connect has ridged roof, I used DIYVan (Hein) adapter/plate for Ford Transit Connect to make roof installation smooth.

Separately, it would be great for RecPro instructions to note that a Van install requires an interior board frame such that the inside Plenum Plastic Plate will not squeeze closed when tightening bolts.

Instructions note that bolts will crush an RV double panel roof, however, photos for a Single Panel Camper Van would be helpful as a Single Panel Van installation is different versus an RV installation.

(Pictures only refer to double pane RV-type roof). Need for boards is intuitive enough, but picture will help note the inside headroom reduction of Plenum (as space is very limited for Camper Van-type install).

Very Happy with product through home test phase. Not yet used for camping trip and rigors of high heat use, however, I anticipate no issues with this well-made product.

This model (NAC14KWHD3) is perfect for that bedroom in the house that is furthest from the furnace/central AC, and so it always extra HOT in the summer and extra COLD in the winter. Setup was super simple (although I must admit that I was stumped for a few minutes about how the window kit assembly actually was supposed to work – I think the instructions on that could be improved).

That aside, this unit cools my 12′ x 14′ guest bedroom extremely quickly, and I’m sure it would be suitable for a room nearly twice that size. Even with the fan speed only a level 2, it moves enough air to turn my ceiling fan when the ceiling fan is not even running.

🙂 I find that the large temp LEDs on the front face of the unit are super handy for a quick check of the temp setting at-a-glance from a distance, and also functions very nicely as a night-light (and you can turn it off from the remote if you find it too bright at night).

Lastly, I like that the exhaust hoses/window-kit take up only a fraction of my natural light coming in from the window, compared to the old window-AC which effectively blocked about 50% of my natural light thru the window making the room seem gloomy.

I adore this portable air conditioner! I really like how simple it was to install, how simple it was to use the remote control, and how strong the airflow was overall. The 12,000 BTU will undoubtedly cool down any space.

My bedroom cooled down instantly, and I relished every second of it! It is a highly contemporary piece that would complement any interior design and is surprisingly quiet. The ability to quickly convert from using this as an air conditioner to just using it as a fan is a huge benefit! Overall, we are really pleased with this unit, and Newair has truly created a product that will benefit a large number of individuals who don’t own standard air conditioning units.

Those units are really pricey, so if they aren’t in your current budget, this Newair 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner one will definitely work just as good if not better. The fact that it’s portable and so simple to move about simply made me love it more-it was precisely what we needed for the space in our bedroom!.

I recently got this portable AC/Heater and my husband and I LOVE it. It was super easy to set up. It only took a few minutes to attach the hoses and the window using the window kit that came with it.

Did I mention we didn’t even have to take out the screen for our window to do so? I LOVE that. The unit works super fast cooling down our room in just minutes to our preferred temperature and I can control it on the main unit as well as the remote control it comes with.

It is easy to move to different rooms because it has wheels on the bottom and with how easy it is to hook up to the window we can use it in our main living room during the day then move it to our bedroom to use at night.

We haven’t really used the heater part since it’s like 98 degrees here right now, but I did quickly test the heat setting and it worked great. Can’t wait to use it come winter. It does have a dehumidifier setting if you live where it’s humid.

We don’t so I love that with how it is designed the water is cycled through the machine to cool the coils and I don’t have to worry about draining it. Such a great AC unit. perfect for our needs, easy to set up, and works great! Thanks, Newair!.

First of all, do not be misled by the sleek look of the air conditioning unit. It has two large hoses in the accordion style used by clothes dryers, only much bigger and less flexible. When the unit is installed and ready to work, it looks like something more suited to a workshop or other industrial space than a living room or bedroom.

And because of those huge hoses, the unit must be placed close to a window – but not too close. It will need to placed about 2 feet away from the wall so as not to kink the hoses. So, big as this thing is all by itself, you have to add even more space when planning the location.

In my very small room, it is taking up a 2′ x 3′ footprint. I bought this air conditioner believing it was portable; it’s not. Not in any real sense of the word. At over 60 pounds, it’s a lot heavier than a window unit with the same BTU capacity, and even though it’s on wheels, the wheels don’t function well on carpeting (the instruction manual points this out), and the hoses must be reinstalled in the new window along with the unit, making it much more difficult to relocate than a standard window unit.

The frame that holds the hoses in place in the window is poorly designed and the manual suggests a permanent installation, including screwing the frame in place. This means either removing the frame at the end of the cooling season – not small matter if you’ve screwed it into your window frame – or dealing with an uninsulated and drafty frame throughout the winter.

It was designed to be left in place, as the manufacturer included plastic caps to seal off the hose openings. In terms of function, it isn’t as effective as the last window unit I had in that room – a small, inexpensive Frigidaire model.

I timed it yesterday and it took over two hours to lower the temperature by 10 degrees in a 10′ x 11′ room, with the assistance of a ceiling fan. The old Frigidaire did it in half the time, and without the fan as a backup.

The only advantage to this unit is it is quiet. Not extremely quiet, just quiet compared to most window units. If I had it to over again, I would NOT have purchased this air conditioner.

First, let me say this does a good job for its main function, I. e. ; cooling a fairly large area. We have it set up in a dining room that has large doorways leading to kitchen, living room and family room, and with ceiling fans helping to circulate the air, it definitely helps cool off the first floor.

That’s the pro. Here are the cons: 1) technically it is portable, but only insofar as you can roll it from room to room. Forget being able to take it up and down stairs. It’s quite large and bulky, and weighs more than the average person can carry alone.

Additionally, you have to be able to place giant vent tubing in a window, so you need a combination of window that opens to accommodate vent panel, a grounded outlet near the window, and a clear space for the cold air to circulate.

2) venting is awkward. There are two vents (air intake and exhaust), each one extends about 6 feet. While they are flexible, they have limitations and add to the bulk of the unit. Also, even though they are supposed to thread onto the end pieces that attach to the unit, they tend to pop off if you move it around or adjust the tubing.

3) window plate that attaches to vents lacks flexibility. The unit comes with a rectangular sturdy plastic frame that you place in the window for ventilation. There is also a smaller plastic piece that slides into the frame to adjust the width to fit different window sizes.

Except it’s not long enough to accommodate wider windows, and to adjust for narrower windows it has to be cut down with a saw. If you cut it down, you’re screwed if you want to move the unit to a wider window.

And if you have a window that slides horizontally or a crank out style, foggedaboutit. The window plate should have come with the type of flexible accordion panels that most a/c units have. As it stands, we’ve had to jury-rig the opening using duct tape and cardboard.

4) control panel: you get a nifty little remote control with digital readout to adjust your settings, which works great! But don’t lose it, because the unit itself only has a power switch and button to turn off the bright blue lights that burn into your dreams while you sleep unless you turn them off.

5) moisture collection drain valve: according to the manual, the unit isn’t really designed to use in high humidity environments. What?? Didn’t find that out until the unit shut down and we read that the moisture collection pan was full.

Ok, Only one problem: the drain plug is only about an inch above the base of the unit, so finding something that can catch the water and fits under the plug is a challenge. Or you can attach a hose… To sum up: the unit works well and cools a fairly large area, but for the cost, hassle and bulkiness of attacking vents, you could probably buy two window units that work just as well and take less time to install.

I bought this. Let it sit up right for way over 24 hours. When I went to use it it would turn on for a about 5 minutes and and then the compressor would shut off and blow hot air not cooling down the 192 square foot room I have.

I returned this and going to get my money back and get somthing else. I did not pay this money for a AC to blow hot air. yes I did have the AC part on not the heater.

I’m a cold sleeper, and this summer is sweltering. This thing blows ice cold and keeps my room at a gorgeous 66 degrees. Not one complaint.

Problems with the appliance on the 3rd, day. It’s was determined by the tech. non fixable. Still waiting to find out, what they’re going to do about it. Purchased the air conditioner June 26st, broke down 3 days latter.

They no longer make parts for this appliance. It’s deemed non fixable.

Pros: Works well at cooling room, sleek design doesn’t take up too much space. Cons: The hose attachment & window accessories are thin, cheap plastic garbage. Hose falls out, flimsy window parts, cheap crap from China.

Had to buy duct tape to keep together.

Installed it in a high ceiling living room that has never been cool. Today was over 100 and humid. it took the temperature down to 72. Hard to put a drip pan under the unit without proping it off of the floor.

Wish it had a built in drip pan. I ended up running a hose to the outside to catch the moisture.

Best perchance I ever made. I bought it for my attic because summertime gets highly humid and hot. Now that I have this in the attic, it cools the whole attic with en 10-15 minutes. This thing is 10 times better than the traditional AC.

This puts out an extraordinary amount of cool air. It has to be on low to not bother the cats. Also, if you’re in for a hot day, it has to be run throughout the day to keep the room cool for evening comfort.

We bought our home in 2015 and we love it so much, except for one thing- the master bedroom upstairs doesn’t get as cool as the rest of the house. My husband also likes to sleep as if we live in the arctic, it’s the only way he can sleep, so you can see where it would be rather problematic to have our room be so warm.

It is so powerful and effective that you immediately feel a noticeable difference when you open the door to enter (a nice cool breeze like entering an air conditioned store on a hot summer day) or when you open the door to enter the rest of the house (almost feels like leaving a nice cool store and entering a slightly less cool store, ha!).

We have central air conditioning so for this machine to be that powerful is rather impressive. I have strongly considered buying a second one to cool my main floor and give my central AC a break. On top of all the amazing features, it also helps protect my family with the UV-C technology.

I’m all for my kids interacting with germs to strengthen their immune system, but viruses can absolutely stay out of my home and I am so relieved knowing this not only keeps my family comfortable, but safer as well.

Lastly, this AC has been easy to use from the moment it was delivered on my doorstep. Installation and set-up was incredible quick and simple; you don’t even need to take the window screen off your window! (Which is so much better than a window AC because it continues to help keep unwanted insects out of my home and doesn’t alter the appearance from outside either.

) It took my husband about 10 minutes to get the AC installed and running. Since then, maintenance has been virtually non-existent. Even operating the AC has been simple- it has a nice modern touchpad, that is actually responsive, or if I am in bed I can access it using the remote.

The one and only thing I would change about this AC is my son’s infatuation with trying to turn it on and off constantly. But that’s only because this portable AC is so gosh darn cool.

I have been using the portable AC unit for several months now, which has save me a few times and my family this summer. Our electricity went out for several hours from a bad storm and our air conditioner had a leak over a weekend when we were eclipsing 100 degree temps during the day.

Luckily I had this AC unit to use. It worked very well hooked up to our solar generator to help us stay cool when our electric went out and really did well when we had a Freon leak in our house AC system.

Some things that I really like about the unit is it is mobile. I can move it around very easily from one room to the next to help cool off different areas of the house as needed. The attachments to allow the air to leave the house via window worked perfectly.

A few other extras that this unit sets itself a part from others is the reusable filter that is has and acts as a humidifier. I really like that the unit filters viruses in the air while also cooling the area.

Speaking of cooling. This unit covers around 600-800 square feet and does a very good job cooling rooms down quickly. When our AC went out during 100 degree days, our house was pushing 80 degrees until I connected the AC.

I could tell a instant cooling of the room once the unit started running. I would say the room cooled to about 70 degrees within 30 minutes. Installation was a breeze. Took me about 20 minutes once I set up the unit where I wanted it to go.

Honestly, the best features in my opinion is the reusable filter, low power consumption (awesome in the event of needing to use a generator), and is portable. It has some other features like a remote control and sensing capabilities, which are nice but what I like most is it is simple to use and install, cools and cleans the air quickly, and is built like a tank.

It is not cheaply made like other units. I highly recommend this unit to everyone especially with the heat waves we have had nationwide the past few years and electrical grid problems. Great back up when needed or even for camping!.

Bought a similarly older version from Costco which looks Exactly the same! Delonghi never bothered updating the model with features or make it efficient or quiet! 7200 BTU (SACC)/12500 BTU (ASHRAE) so you lose ~>40% efficiency, which is the worst thing about single hose portable A/C units compared to window A/C versions which is 100% efficient or dual hose portable A/C units which are more efficient.

It works in a 20×20 living room (400 Sq ft) but can’t cool it down enough as it’s slow and Only goes down to 64% for cool down. But the dehumidifier function works, just keep the draining hose hooked up and drain into a 10 Qt bucket next to it.

If it’s very humid, you’ll need to dump the water more frequently (i. e. ~1 hour’s operation ~1/2~3/4 bucket full of water on a very humid day). It’s NOT quiet so don’t use in your bedroom at night. The Eco mode isn’t that reliable.

It shows ‘green’ sometimes when it still feels humid. Doesn’t get ‘blue’ for the best condition often but it does happen, sometimes. You may need use to some light (painter’s) tape on the attachment section on the unit to keep it from getting detached as the hose link does NOT attach well! Consider getting a spare air hose if you plan on keeping it for a long time since it’s really Difficult finding the Correct, proper size tubing.

Be careful when using in one room and having another unit in another room in that you don’t use the outlets that’s on the same wall side since the electrical connection is most likely parallel to each other.

You’ll short circuit the outlets and trip the breaker which you’ll need to reset. Overall, it works but not efficiently and it’s noisy but don’t expect it make the room cold, just cool enough. Don’t forget to drain the water bucket! Slightly lower cost at Costco which does mark it on sale at times.

Unit was scuffed as expected with no other serious issues of note. Also, received 2 batteries. Packing was perfect. Remember AC units need to operate at warmer temperatures when yours arrives and you want to test.

Mine is functioning normally in a warm house environment, dare I say, as expected. Buttons and indicators are good. Charged both batteries to max and they are holding. Also, ran it with the AC adapter.

Haven’t had a chance to test it with the lithium setup in the camper yet. It’s cold in Michigan right now. We are going to cool a heavily customized, 10′ x 7′ A-liner Scout Lite and roughly 450 cu. ft.

Glorified spot cooler. I’ve been sitting here in 84 degree weather in my INSULATED van, window treatments on, windows closed, facing away from the sun & it’s barely cooling the van down. They say in their sponsored videos that it will cool a small space down.

like a tent but they show sprinter vans so it should cool that no problem. Well it doesn’t. I have a 2000 Ford e150 with the cab shut off so the ac only has to cool down the back which is no bigger than a 4 person tent.

I have tried it on rocket, cool on all speeds, & fan. Doesn’t really do anything except cool you off when you sit directly in front of it. They had to tell me that my van needs to be insulated in order for it to work.

well it is! Walls, windows, roof. I have 3 layers on my windows. They say on their videos that it’ll cool down a tent but tents aren’t insulated so how is that possible????? Marketing lies!!!! Beware buyer.

Wow impressed. I wish the instructions were better, I was left with several questions but I tend to overthink things and the unit is pretty intuitive. Oddly the hardest thing for me was getting the hoses threaded into the harness for them.

OK so I turned it on on regular mode it sent could actually immediately into a 9×11 room that was pretty warm about 85 degrees, vented out the window (love the foam with cutouts for putting the hoses in the window- nice touch) Hey this thing really works! An hour later it was a very cool room! Ran it on night mode and it stayed cool all night.

I am excited to try this tent camping (occasional)and in my future minivan micro rv and. traveliny with my dog in the car (cool air for her if I need to leave her for a bit in there)Very worth it!.

IšverstiShow in original languageI was trying to figure out where to send my photo showing how I use my Mark 2, I saw photos on your website from users. I think it’s a pretty unique use. We are allowed to bring pets to work and our office is normally really hot during the summer months.

My dog Brigham (female black lab) constantly pants because she is to hot. Even fans would not help. This product is a life saver. Literally. Now she gets a nice cool breeze and barely moves from her bed that sits under my desk.

I have a container to collect water and about once every 2 weeks I use a fish tank pump to pump out the water. I did put small filters on the intakes to prevent dog hair from entering the system. (she sheds a lot) Anyway.

Thanks for the great product. She loves it.

Don’t mind the noise, beats the heck out of generator noise. And — low wattage draw means I could even run it from the house batteries or a spare Jackery pack if I wanted to. I pipe the water exhaust into an Igloo 2gal drink cooler, easy as pie.

IšverstiShow in original languageProduct did not cool down the interior of my work area (truck) in the evening. This is a small area, but even oh high, the temperature did not change. Also, the battery did not charge with the adaptor for the cigarette outlet.

This has made this product useless for me.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleThis AC works fairly well but has a few design flaws that are irritating. The cold air flow coming out of the unit aims all the way to the left as you are facing it.

You have to rotate the unit to properly aim the cooled air toward the middle of the room which kinks the exhaust hose. The horizontal louvers are adjustable up and down, but that doesn’t solve the air flow direction.

Also, the control panel is on top of the unit, so you can’t tell the status unless you walk right over to the unit to view the top, rendering the remote less useful. Unlike other portable units I have used, the fan does cycle on and off as needed.

This saves energy, but I found it irritating at night because when the fan goes on and off, it is quite loud. Would be better to have some setting to keep fan on as compressor cycles on and off to keep constant white noise.

The overall noise of the unit is tolerable, but still quite loud, but that’s pretty much the case with all portable units. The compressor on/off cycling is a lot quieter than my old unit, which is nice.

It takes quite a while to cool my 12×17 bedroom, longer than I would like, but it eventually gets the job done. Warm air leaks from the exhaust hose where it connects to the unit, no matter how I try to adjust.

Overall, a fairly good, well-built unit, but could use some improvements.

Set up works for slider our smaller slider windows, although cut a piece of foam insulation to bind the plastic connector to create a tighter fit in the window which was easy to do. Helps us deal combat 80-100 degree heat from the heat domes that are coming more frequently.

Since our home is insulated, this unit helps us keep our three bedrooms from rising above mid 70s. We have use another small window 8000 BTU unit to keep the kitchen/living/dining from doing the same.

House square footage is 1700. Thankfully this is not an ongoing daily requirement as yet.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleI have a limited amount of space in my home office and it’s always hot. The only good thing I can say is this unit has a smaller footprint that most. But there are multiple engineering FAILS.

The window kit is a nightmare. It will not work on a right to left sliding window. Forget what the instructions and box photo shows. The vent hole is on the other end of the panel. So I had to cut it and rearrange the pieces and put it together with white duct tape.

Second there is nowhere near enough weather stripping especially for that horrible small piece. Not even close to filling the gap. Plus the vent hose is too short for high Windows. I put the unit on blocks so it’d reach.

That has to be the worst designed window kit of any portable AC on the market. Second, you can’t use the dry feature without running a hose. Seriously. So where am I going to run a garden hose in an office full of computers? Why doesn’t it just vent the moisture vapor to the outside? Why? I went through all that trouble to put it in! So I’m already disappointed.

I just hope it can actually cool the room when it’s 98° outside with the afternoon sun beating on my window. Crossing fingers. But wow, you guys really skimped in all the wrong ways on this unit. Either some product manager didn’t create realistic story boards or the engineers didn’t follow them.

Call me. You need a better PM.

IšverstiShow in original languageWell to start off, it’s not as quiet as they make it out to be. It’s actually VERY loud even on low. Also, it advertised that while in sleep mode the unit goes into quiet mode and maintains the temperature.

wrong ! both statements are NOT true at all. And last but not least, the exhaust plate that the hose hooks into was too wide for one window and too short for the other window. The exhaust hose doesn’t stay in the back of the unit all the time, it keeps popping off.

Overall in my opinion, it wasn’t worth what I paid for it. Wasn’t a good buy. Wished I had never bought it. Just another thing taking up space in my small studio apartment.

La livraison a été très rapide commande passée le lundi matin et je l’ai reçu le vendredi donc vraiment top. Le climatiseur est très simple d’utilisation et rafraîchi très bien la pièce. J’ai un grand salon avec cuisine américaine et la température est devenue très agréable ça va même jusqu’aux pièces les plus proches.

J’avais un peu peur pour le bruit car pour d’autres modèles c’est souvent le Point faible. Le bruit est très discret pas plus qu’un grand ventilateur je regarde même la télé sans monter le son davantage.

J’ai enlevé une étoile pour le Kit fenêtre qui est joint au climatiseur. Ça fonctionne uniquement pour les fenêtres mais pas pour des portes fenêtres je vais donc acheter un kit de calfeutrage pour vraiment que ça soit efficace.

It almost instantly cooled down our bedroom but does get a little noisy because of the built in compressor which is expected, but this hasnt deterred our sleep too much and weve already gotten used to the noise.

The noise is similar to sleeping with the washing machine or tally on, not ideal but you would just deal with the noise after sometime. If youre a medium to heavy sleeper then shouldnt be an issue for you.

Has not leaked in very humid coastal and so far in 2 years have never had to empty anything it has worked with evaporative cooling. This will be my third year with it. No wifi, prefer items without another thing to go wrong.

Much more substantial window attachment tube and panels than others I have purchased. Keeps very large br cool with a lot of glass alowing sun. My 3rd LG. Have had good luck with Honeywell but their tubes are so flimsy.

I have had the 14k btu portable ac unit for almost 3 years now and it’s still running great. Cleaning is easy. The noise level is acceptable but hopefully a quieter one would be better. I haven’t had any issues with it that I would need to contact support.

The exhaust equipment needs some improvement so that it’s stronger and more durable. Otherwise, it’s a good unit and something i would buy again.

I did a lot of research and settled on this AC because I generally like LG products and it had decent ratings. We bought it through a big box store and it took 1 month to arrive, it was being drop shipped and it kept getting delayed.

I purchased on June 20th, and it arrived July 13th. The first day we plugged it in, part of the exhaust fan cracked and make the most insanely loud noise to the point where it was un usable. We contacted LG since it was under warranty and they were happy to repair.

except the only authorized service technician in my area was booked until September 8th. Living in Maine, as you can imagine, I don’t need AC except for the months of July and August. so this was a total bust.

We returned the AC to the big box store and ended up buying a window unit off the shelf that works so much better anyway and was cheaper.

I needed one ASAP me and heat don’t mix. within 2 days I received it. I use it in my master bedroom this one is way better than the one i had. It completely keeps my room cool through the day at Comfortable Temperature.

I absolutely have no regrets in this purchase and at a good price. I highly recommend. Also read the directions before you use it FYI IT DOES SAY LET IT SET FOR 24 HRS OUT OF THE BOX.

Shipping was fast, the AC was dropped off at my doorstep only 2 days after my purchase.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleIt has only been several days, but this BD AC is working great! Our family room is bigger than recommended, but it is comfortable because the ceiling fan helps with circulating the cool air.

The noise from the AC fan is a bit loud but not too loud as we were able to watch TV and movies with no problems. The remote comes in handy especially when you want to activate the oscillating on the AC.

I have not tried the dehumidifier as we are in a dry state. We will also have to wait to winter to know if the heat works. Now a few things about installation. Although the instructions have you putting the sticky installation at the bottom of the window to close on top of the window kit, instead we used it on the top of the window panel part and the sides; a little more on the uneven part of the panel for better insulation.

Also, we could see daylight through the panel and hose connection and used decorative duct tape to seal it off. There was a slight problem connecting or screwing the caps to the hose, but it all worked out.

So far, so great!.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleIt’s a powerful little thing. It’s kind of loud but it gets the job done. My heat went out this past winter and it kept my entire house (1900 sq ft) at 73 degrees.

No joke. I just needed a small heater in the master bedroom. I’m so happy that I bought this. I originally bought it for my sunroom that my husband turned into his mancave. It’s cold in the winter and hot in the summer so this AC heater has been perfect and it came in handy during an emergency.

Wish I could give it 10 stars.

Heat was a little messy, because the water tank fills up very fast, & to drain it, u need a very slim pan that can slide under the unit, if you don’t have 1 & u try 2 drain the unit, u r going to soak out your floor! My remedy 2 this was I had built a platform about 4″ high & placed the unit on my platform, I cut down the drain hose {Clear tubing that came with the unit} 2 about 6-8″ & used a round ice cream container that is about 5″ tall, cut a small hole n it 4 the drain hose 2 just fit thru & down slightly n2 the bucket.

The drain hose slants downward at a small angle, the bucket is clear so I can c the water level n it. Thus far this has worked flawlessly n removing the water drainage that only happens on the heat setting.

After about 2-3 hours of use BEFORE I made up the ice cream bucket overflow, I was emptying the tank every 2-3 hours. Now that I’m using my DIY overflow container water trap, I have yet 2 need 2 empty it after 24 hours.

Personally I think the internal overflow tank is a wee bit 2 small, so u would get the FT {Full Tank} on the display after just a few hours heater use. Problem #2″ is the window bracket, they claim the minimum size window requirement is 20.

9″ this IS NOT true, my window is 30 inches wide, the bracket should have fit, it didn’t. The bracket is nicely made because it is metal & uses screws 2 secure the slider part of it from closing up. However, I could not use the slider, as the air outflow BLOCKS the slider from closing to that 20.

9″ setting. My window the closest I could close the slider 2 fit my window was about 33″, 3″ more than my window would allow. Problem #3: switches at the top of the unit needs 2 have a clear plastic hinged cover over them as they are 2 sensitive.

Having cats, they climb on top of the unit & because there is no cover, they end up changing settings or turning the unit off.

I bought this model specifically because it was the most powerful portable available for the money. It comes with the window hose, the window adapter and a remote control. Installation is relatively simple.

It takes but a few minutes. Portable AC is never as efficient as Window units because it has to move so much heat from inside the room – including its own – to the outside. The Box rating is 13,500 but in reality it’s less than 10,000 when compared to a Window Box AC.

The Unit’s build quality is high and it feels like a quality product, but the bottom line is: DOES IT WORK? YES – it can cool down an appropriately sized room, but it’s not as powerful as the DANBY 12,000 BTU window box AC I have.

The GE 13,500 can make most rooms comfortable, but definitely not “freezing cold”.

I bought this because my 551 sq ft apartment is always hot. This a/c has helped SO much! It says it cools up to 450sq ft but I don’t find that true. It will cool my bedroom (est 150-200sq ft) very quickly if I have the door closed.

The hose that comes with it is short so I can’t move it very far from the window but it is long enough to put in the door of bedroom/living room. It takes a bit longer to cool the living room (est 300 sq ft) but has never reached below 75.

I want to add that I do NOT use this with the central AC. I strictly use the portable ac with a fan. I do this because I’ve noticed it used a lot of electricity. When it turns on, the lights in my apartment flicker but I think that is normal.

Also, if you are wondering how easy set up is, I am a 21 yr old girl and dragged this up my second floor apartment (it is HEAVY) and set it up by myself in under an hour. #sweetstakes.

I purchased this air conditioner less than a year and it stopped working. This model has humidifier, cool, heat and fan selections. However when you change the selector to cool, it will run for a short period than turn off completely without any warning.

The other modes works fine but the cool is what you need in the summer but that mode does not work. I cannot recommend GE to my friends.

it also has issues. Within one year, I am asking for a replacement under warranty. Thankfully, the warranty is being fulfilled with free shipping, but I am being asked to write this positive review prior to shipment.

I am therefore trying to keep this as positive as possible, and anybody who reads this should understand my bias and the position I am in. The bottom line is that this unit did keep the room cool in a very hot summer and through a fire season.

The air in my area was unhealthy (per an air quality app) for a good two months. My state had a lot of fires this past year, and my air filters alone did not do the job of keeping the air in the home clean.

Running this air conditioner along with my hepa air filters did the job. It does hook up to a window via tubing, in a way that makes it portable. When I first got the unit, I found the installation overly complicated, clunky and stressful, with unclear directions.

If you need to email customer support, I would include videos of your issue to make it really clear what your issue is. There is also often a delay to hear back, but I recommend emailing frequently and making sure you stay courteous, and it may help with the speed of responses.

I wouldn’t recommend it for over 350 sqft It has trouble keeping up over 80 degrees in an area a little under 400Sqft. I think in general, portable units are less effective because the compressor is not outside a window.

I believe a 10000 Btu window unit would be more effective. The remote has never worked right, so I don’t use it. I am in my fourth summer of using it extensively, and it still works. The auto evaporation works well.

I’ve never had to empty the unit I have been unable to find what the starting wattage or amperage is. It only lists the running wattage. I am thinking of buying a generator and would like to know what size I would need to run it.

My husband bought this specific model roughly 4 years ago when we lived in an apartment with no AC. We used it for a year, then moved to a place with central air. Then this unit went to my mom’s little house when she didn’t have AC.

She used it for a year before moving. The unit sat in storage for almost two years and we recently pulled it out to loan to a friend with no AC in her apartment. This portable AC has been nothing less than excellent, reliable and it’s so well-made.

I like well engineered products and the fact that the exhaust hose is like a tough-made slinky that stores into the unit itself is fantastic because it means you don’t lose or break the part if you treat it well.

We did misplace the window kit parts that help you attach the unit to your window, but customer service was fast and easy and able to send us replacements in 2-days. I used the online chat and called in and the customer service reps were incredibly friendly and fast.

If they didn’t have an answer to a specific question, they told you, put you on a brief hold, and got the answer quickly. I cannot say enough good things about Newair. They really do support their products.

On a side note: I also own one of their wine fridges that holds 18 bottles. Two years with the wine fridge and not one issue. Thank you, Newair!.

Living in the Pacific Northwest, I got this for my home which had no air conditioner. After all the crazy heat waves we’ve had, I was looking for something that could keep me cool while I work from home.

This definitely fits the bill. It’s maybe about 3 feet high and a pretty slender fit, fitting perfectly in a narrow space I have in my bedroom. The setup was easy and I was able to connect it to my Google home without hassle.

It’s perfectly white, matching all the furniture I have, definitely not an eyesore like some air conditioners I looked at when I was shopping around. I have a 5 gallon bucket it drains into (you’ll have to provide your own, the air conditioner doesn’t come with one), and I empty it usually once a day I keep the air conditioner running the whole day.

With the Frigidaire app, I can turn off the quick glance light, which helps keep the room dark as I keep it on while I’m sleeping. The reason I didn’t give it a 5 is I wish I had the ability to turn off all the status lights on the top – they’re especially bright during the night, but luckily they’re on top of the air conditioner and I’m able to lay a sock over the flat surface to block the lights from bothering me while I sleep.

I’ve had it for over a year now and it works really well. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to have the ability to connect it to their smart home, and get an air conditioner that doesn’t look awful – it’s nice to look at.

I ordered a Frigidaire Gallery 13000 BTU Cool Connect portable air conditioner (with WiFi) from Home Depot and have used it for the last 3 weeks to cool a 350 sq. ft. attic room used as a gym. The room itself is well insulated but poorly cooled by the house AC.

I turn on the portable AC unit about an hour before I need it and it does a quite a good job cooling and maintaining a constant, comfortable temperature. Controlling it remotely by WiFi is very handy although the main panel and remote are easy to use if you are in the room.

I expect the TX summer will make it work a lot harder but so far so good. It does make a blowing sound but it hasn’t been so loud to be annoying. Installation was simple enough but I urge watching a YouTube video rather than just following the printed instructions in the box.

I added extra insulation and tape (beyond what came in the box) over the remaining small gaps at the window exhaust for a better seal. I also wrapped insulation around the exhaust hose in the 12 inches near the window as it felt warm – every little bit helps and I wasn’t bothered about looks.

The box arrived by FedEx in good condition and it started right up after installation. It is pretty heavy and bulky for one person so an extra hand might be appreciated.

The fact the the window kit has to be screwed into the window frame makes it so that the air conditioner is not portable. Once installed, the air conditioner has to stay where it is which means it’s not portable.

If this is what they consider portable, they might as well call the window units portable as well. Once it gets cold outside again and I have to unscrew everything for this unit, I wonder if I will even be able to reuse the window kit portion of this unit when it gets hot outside again.

Considering the cost of this unit, I should be able to reuse all the the pieces when I need them. Also, since the window kit is screwed into the window frame, I can’t ever close my window while it is installed – If I leave my apartment for the weekend, I have to trust that the hose piece (that goes from the unit to the window kit), stays in place.

I don’t trust that piece at all and I currently have the hose piece held in place with duct tape so it doesn’t fall out. This air conditioner was not at all what I was expecting. In addition, when I set the unit to 72 degrees, the app for this unit usually says my room is anywhere from 75 to 79 degrees and it rarely is at the desired temperature.

My room is cooler than before I had the unit but I definitely would not recommend this to anyone.

When I first got this up and running, started having the dreaded short-cycling issue. Adjusting the fan louvres seemed to solve that problem. Suspect that some of the cold air was being bounced back onto a poorly placed thermostat/temp sensor, causing a false reading.

Also, the owner’s manual states that in auto mode the fan will keep running when the compressor cycles off. Incorrect – the fan goes off, too. When manually going from cool to fan, the noise is barely noticeable.

When it all goes off at once, it’s somewhat jarring. Not to mention probably inefficient. Auto mode seems a bit erratic in general, so I don’t use it. However, this unit does cool fairly well, as long as actively managed and monitored.

Additionally, the vent hose is better designed than my last portable. Have had it a little over a week.

This AC unit has done so much to save us over the last couple of years. We live in the Puget Sound area, and it feels like each summer gets worse and worse in terms of heat, and none of the rentals we’ve lived in have any sort of installed AC.

We finally purchased this unit, and it is one of the best purchases we’ve ever made. It’s relatively easy to install and move around. The only downsides we’ve ever encountered are how loud it can be while we’re trying to sleep and the window mount doesn’t completely fit our current windows, but neither of those are deal breakers (especially since our current windows are EXTREMELY tall.

All in all, a great purchase.

We are using this unit to cool our 500 sq. ft. garage to keep our pets cool during the 112-115 degree heat we are experiencing here in Arizona. I didn’t think a unit this small and portable could do the job, but it can.

The only setup is making sure you have an exhaust vent so the hot air has someplace to go. The unit is a bit heavy for us old folk to lift, but it is on four wheels so it is easy to move around with ease.

Most important is the customer service you get from Newair. If you need help, they are there to assist you all the way. The old-fashioned customer service where they make sure you are completely satisfied.

If you’re lucky enough to speak with Elizabeth, consider yourself blessed. Now don’t you all be asking for her or she’ll never be able to get anything done – but that lady deserves a medal. :-).

I love LG. I think they don’t put out a product unless it is one of the best in its field, and that’s why I decided to trust them again when I needed an indoor air conditioner. The reviews of various companies all had good reviews, as this did, and it is otherwise hard to choose – so I just chose LG and I’m happy, so far, that I did.

I wanted an indoor unit specifically. My concerns with that type of unit were 1) do I have to empty water buildup, 2) efficiency or cooling ability 3) power consumption, specifically, will the cord get hot when on continuously for days.

So all three concerns are satisfied, cord/wall stays cool as does the unit, no water buildup or emptying (on cooling mode) to worry about at all, and unit pumps wonderfully freezing air into the room – quickly cooling a 400 ft space, and even supplying cool dry air to a larger space.

I am sufficiently impressed. If it never breaks and is always the same trusty unit that it is now, I would consider it perfect. The cons? Well, it is certainly louder than my old energy star window unit.

I don’t mind white noise at all though for sleeping, and it is not too loud for that. I would like a lower fan speed option, that is quieter, but I doubt other models are any quieter. I believe I read the fan has to run to wick the water buildup away – so a low setting simply might not be possible with an indoor unit of any kind.

In any case, it does have a low and high speed. Suggestion: the remote could use an led display light. You pick it up in the night to turn the fan to low, or turn it off – and you can’t see squat, start guessing, and hitting all the wrong buttons.

So, I just had to learn where each button is, no big deal, but light would be improvement. Overall, it has reliably and impressively cooled my space, sealed off my window perfectly, jumps to life every time I ask it to, and worked perfectly as advertised.

Would definitely recommend.

Though only having and using the product for a short time (less than 1 min) , and having to return it for reasons not concerned with the product’s functionality and quality in anyway. Machine itself is high quality, the hose and other attachments are of good quality; except for the window panels they were of lesser quality.

The window panels were easy to install together, but they were not created for all window types. And there was an issue because of having a distinctive different type of window. Basically the inside of that window had a hollow center, and the panels were not high enough to remain in that position properly.

A position that would have made the installment inside the window completely improper. Also, the panel design will allow for air to easily escape, and it could lead to negatively impacting temperature in the room.

We bought this unit to help cool a back bedroom that has a vaulted ceiling and a couple of exterior walls that get a lot of sun in the afternoon. Because the thermostat is located in the front of the house, it doesn’t register the realities of the back and so the built in A/C stays off even when it’s sweltering back here.

After setting up the unit (which did take some work since you need to hook up the exhaust to a window), we turned it on and immediately got some relief while sitting close to the unit (which was located next to my desk — remote work!).

The “Auto Swing” feature was appreciated from the get go, helping to move the cool air on and off my back and up into the room. For my use case, it’s been great. That said, the room is a little over 300 sq.

ft. and it takes a little time to feel the effects throughout the entire space — but it does happen eventually! I’m very much looking forward to a summer that does not force me out of my bedroom.

I am absolutely in love with this ac unit!!! Especially with the rv airflow kit. Hard to beat the heat in an rv living in Texas…. But this helps tremendously!!!

BRAND NEW it didn’t work and too far from dealer to fix. Cost alot to fix and no warranty if you have a mobile service fix it. I was much happier with my Dometic

Drop in replacement…but came with wiring from the reversing valve solenoid to the run capacitor not properly connected! Found it so was able to fix before on the road…but AirXcel could do better!
