20 Best Pool Finish For Salt Water Pool (2023 Updated)

I haven’t closed my pool yet so I haven’t used this product yet but I’ve ordered from Pool Geek several times this year and everything has always been delivered on time and the products are superior.

I have spent hundreds of dollars testing out just about every method to get rid of stains. Just a bit of a “past” tense of the issue. I started off the season with a nasty algae attack on my pool in the beginning of the season.

Like a nub (dummy) I threw WAY to much algicide at it. (STAY AWAY FROM COPPER BASED! At least cheap algicides!) I also had my pool deck pressure washed. I am pretty sure they used some sort of chemical that had bleach and some other stuff in it.

So I not only had the algicide, but some other unknowns. Because of this my metal levels in the pool sky rocketed. MY pool was crystal clear and then when I got my chlorine levels up BAM. Hello coffee looking pool linear.

Two bottles of this and the stain is gone! Now for me I did try a few other products some of which cost $40 a bottle. Don’t ask. BioGuard works a bit slower but when you spread it around the pool and do what the bottle says.

After a couple of days its as though the stain is completely gone. Further – Last year I also had metal issue but it was because of my faucet has hard water. Highly recommend you keep up with the metal count in your pool.

Even getting on a program to keep metal out “just in case. ” Understanding the variables that happen to the pool are extremely important. This way you can diagnose and eliminate the issue. This product works wonderfully.

The price, the speed, the value is right on the mark. You will need to use another product such as a filter aid to help eliminate metals entirely as this will mostly help with the stain itself.

So we’ve been having quite a warm fall here in Southern California. And with the warm weather comes algae blooms if you are not on top of your pool chemistry. Well, guess what happened, yep, a great ole algae bloom.

I dosed it with a lot (too much) of chemicals. Chemicals that raised the metals in my pool to the point I had purple staining my tile. NOT AGAIN. I found Pool Magnet Plus online and read the reviews.

Thought I’d give it a try and so glad I did. It didn’t happen overnight, but with a little work getting all of my other chemicals balance and constant cleaning of my pool filters, my water is crystal clear again.

Yippee!!If you are having a metal problem, I highly suggest giving this a try. It’s worth the money and will make that purple stain history.

This stuff is amazing and easy to use. If you have metal like iron in your well water that you used to fill your pool, when you add chlorine to the water it oxidizes the iron and turns your water an awful shade of brown.

Just dump Metalout in your pool water and turn on your pump. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t see a change until the next day. The next day my water was crystal clear. Then just pull your filter and rinse the iron out.

Easy peasy. It removes the iron stains on the pool liner along the waterline, too. I just put some metal out on a scrub brush and applied it to the stains. Magic! At least one thing was easy about owning a pool.

I disagree with the reviewer that said Jack’s Magic products do not work. To the contrary, I have found the Jacks Magic products to be some of the best available. Our water naturally contains high levels of iron, and Jack’s Pink Stuff helps the filtration system get rid of the iron, plus at higher doses, it will remove light staining.

Unlike other products I have tried, the Pink Stuff never causes the water to go cloudy. I also use Jack’s Magic Saphire Stuff after my pool is started up and everything is all in balance. The Saphire Stuff is an all-in-one product that keeps my pool sparkling!.

My review as a regular user of Jack’s pink is meant to clarify that this is NOT a product designed to remove existing stains on the side of a pool, rather, this is phosphonic acid, which will sequester iron particles in the water so that they do not dissipate and oxidize ONTO surfaces as a stain.

So you would use it on opening if you had known metals in your water to keep them from staining. Or following an ascorbic acid treatment to remove stains so that the particulate released during the stain removal did not end up RE-STAINING the surface.

It also needs to be maintained weekly in order to be effective or the metals can drop out of solution the next time your ph raises significantly or you shock with liquid chlorine. Jack’s has a different product (actually, several, depending on the type of metal stain, eg.

iron or copper etc. ) to actually treat stains that have precipitated onto surfaces. That said, sequestering metals in pool water will help avoid stains in the first place, and possibly lighten stains (eg.

on white stairs) through use. But it is not designed to remove stains. So the one star rating is not exactly accurate or fair. This product is considered among the better (albeit not cheaper) metal sequestrates on the market, and it does the job it is supposed to for me.

I live in the country and my water has a lot of ***. which makes the pool turn green. I wouldn’t mind but since I’m blonde, my hair takes on that ***. unless you’re ready for Cosplay, green is not a good color.

This stuff works like Magic (hahaha). I use about a 1/3 of the bottle, so it lasts for months. Came very well packaged. I’ll be purchasing again and highly recommend this and the seller.

We had a small crack in our inground pool and was losing a little bit of water every day. We used this and no more leaks! I highly recommend it!

This is a great product with good instructions. Saved us from spending hundreds of dollars sealing our pool tiles with a professional. This product does it’s job and our pool tile leak is no longer!

Fill my pool with well water that contains soluble iron (water is clear until it encounters chlorine then the iron settles out as an orange dust). This product does an excellent job of preventing the iron from precipitating out.

Water stays clear using this product after adding well water.

I have been using this product in my swim spa for several years. Better than any other sequestering agent I have tried. Definitely good stuff and really easy to use. Would buy it again. Good service and fast delivery.

Second year that I have used GLB products; Super Sequa sol, Stain Magnet,GLB shock sonic, and Algimecycin 600. Have just started to add Half bag of shock,praying it won’t turn that bluest green color.

I have been using EZ Pool for several years and it is by far the best system for my pool. I have never had any algae or staining problem since switch ing to it. 2 scoops a week along with 1 or 2 3″ chlorine tabs and that’s all that’s necessary.

I usually have my water tested about once a month but went 3 months from June to September without testing and then the calcium hardness and alkalinity were only slightly low.

Works great!! Water is crystal clear. No algea or cloudy water, Treat pool once a week. So easy. Just a couple scoops and two chlorine tablets in skimmer. No trips to the pool store for chemicals.

For the first part of last summer I tried just balancing the water and using chlorine tabs and shock weekly. The water was green and cloudy no matter what I did. I decided to go back to the EZ pool I had used previous years and once I did the pool was clear and clean the rest of the summer.

We replaced the motor in our jacuzzi & had to drain the jacuzzi to clean it. The water set for along time inside the spa before it was drained to be cleaned. The walls & floor were covered in alkaline & mineral deposits.

I tried bleach, lime away & nothing was working, we went to Leslie’s on Tenaya & Descale-it was recommended. I sprayed the full 32oz bottle inside the jacuzzi & let it stand for 45 min. WOW WOW WOW. it worked magic.

I hosed it off scrubbed a few places scooped the dirty water out of the bottom of the spa. Descale-it is fantastic. thanks for making this wonderful product & its made in the USA. thanks, Kathleen Wills.

Made tiles look worse! Ended up having tiles professionally cleaned. Try it on small area(preferably the drain area)before messing up whole pool like I did. Never again. Easy way tile and grout cleaner for future use.

I used this product on my glass shower doors. Prior to finding this I spent big bucks $$$$$ on many other so called glass cleaning products. None of them even touched the build-up on our glass shower doors.

This product worked however build-up was heavy so had to use this product in conjunction with steel wool super-fine grade pads. The work was tedious and took quite a while but results were well worth it the doors look brand NEW! Also, many products hurt the metal that surrounds the glass this does not harm metal framing.

I bought this by mistake, thinking I’d ordered “Yellow Treat”. Anyway, the 4# for $25 is a great price point and of course I tried it because it arrived and my pool was green from the Texas heat and rain this summer.

We have a small pool (patio home) which is about 13,000 gallons. I used the WHOLE 4#s trying to get the green out, and yes, I followed the instructions. You use 1# for 10,000 gallons. Again, I used the whole container and still had a green pool.

It was lighter green, to give it some points. But I immediately bought the Yellow Treat by United Chemical, which took a week to come in, so the pool was back to emerald green, used it once and the pool was clear the next day.

Also, you only use 5oz per 10,000 gallons so it goes alot further! I don’t work for Yellow Treat and get nothing for this share, but as a pool owner, and with the price of everything going up, I need products that work.

Now I order Yellow Treat BEFORE I throw out the bottle. Lesson learned.

Sorry guys and gals. I don’t review things normally. 20 year pool owner 35 years keeping family pool clean and balanced. Followed instructions, water is completely balanced. Added yellow out and watched my pool look worse than my pond.

Followed website instructions of adding pool shock (I’m up to 100$ worth now) and you can’t see my pool step at 12” now. Will be draining pool now. Do not use this product waste of time and money.

I had mustard algae all around the walls of my 15,000 gallon, salt water, pebble tec pool. I had shocked it so many times and it didn’t work. I scrubbed every day and often it wouldn’t come off or would just immediately return.

I got phosphates to 0, but still had this mustard algae all over the surface. Used this as a last ditch effort, whole pot sprinkled around edges, then shocked 10 mins later, ran pump 12 hours, and next day it’s as clear as anything!.

I like the Pristine products however this one didn’t do anything. I had hoped it would help with the cloudiness but it may have made it worse. I have an 18′ round and my kids couldn’t see each other under the water.

We recently converted our above ground fiberglass pool to salt water. We also have a remington solar chlorine-free sun shock water purifier that floats in our 7500 gallon pool. Since we have well water, we pretty much automatically have hard water combined with the copper from the pump and the purifier.

I noticed that pool was starting to get darker and darker but the water stayed clear. After researching what could cause such a discoloration in the fiberglass, I found this stuff. I wasn’t expecting much, maybe just to slow down the progression but this stuff is amazing!! I poured it over the steps where it was the darkest and minutes later it was sparkling white.

The pump ran for 2 hrs that night and every day over the past week. It has gone from being black with metal building to white with the very faintest of yellow staining. It has way exceeded my expectations! I didn’t expect this simple of a solution that’s for sure.

I feel like using it once or twice a season will keep the pool walls spotless. I wish I’d taken before and after pics just to show how dramatic of a change it produced! Will 100% buy again!.

The HTH Shock Advanced 1lb packs are a great shock to keep your pool clear and ready for use all year. One package of shock spread around the pool once a week is all it takes. The granules dissolve as desired without leaving any sitting on the bottom of the pool if it is evenly spread.

One package should cover approximately 13,000 gallons. However, one per week keeps my 18,000 gallon pool along with tablets keeps it clear with minimal effort. You will want to test your water and make sure you are balanced before using as a weekly treatment as initial treatments may require more than one bag.

Overall, a good quality shock that will keep weekly maintenance simple.

Used product on pool with algae, definitely after 3 days much improved. Too early to know long term, how much is needed? Does it continue to be effective? I have used one other anti-algae which was not effective.

Wonderful product at a great price. We were new to the pool things and this product is the only one we will ever use. It keeps our pool looking great.

We painted our pool with this. We have to paint it every 4-5 years. We have done this 4 times in the course of 20 years. This is the worst paint we have used. We followed all the directions. We have used rubber based paint each time we painted , and this paint did nothing but blister.

What a waist of money. My husband isn’t happy. The paint we used before wasn’t available anymore, so we resorted to this Never again. It wasn’t too wet and it wasn’t too hot. Like I said , we have done this enough times to know exactly what we are doing.

It’s just crappy paint. Very unhappy. The one star is because the color is nice. That’s it !.

I’ve refinished my fiberglass pool a couple of times and getting the right paint is important. Getting enough is very important so I overbought with six gallons, but not by much. The color I chose was Blue Ice.

I like this better than National and it’s easy to use comparably. All epoxy paints are like glue, but the consistency was even, the color even with multiple mixings and cans, and it set quickly in the Florida sun in less than 24 hours.

This paint does a good job. The only issue, which is probably due to the nature of epoxy paint, is that it is incredibly slick. Under water it is slippery as ice. You need to have some form of anti-slip grit mixed in for safety purposes.

But again, very good paint. I didn’t give 5 stars because there should be a warning in the description about how slick it is.

The shipment was in two packages: one arrived poorly packaged and dented cans. The other was lost in shipping. I had to put in a complaint in order to get my second shipment and when it came it, too, was poorly packed with dented cans, one of which was leaking paint inside the box.

eBay wanted me to return the leaky can and ask for a replacement. I’m not going to do that. Does eBay want me to send off a leaky can? I’m certainly not going to fix the leak and then send it off. don’t know how to fix a dented/leaky paint can.

Hopefully there’s enough paint left to finish my job.

Redoing a outside water fountain and needed a paint that would be under water 24/7, so pool paint would do the job……

We just recently installed the saltwater 5000, so no long term experience yet. Regarding the installation, the parts were generally decent quality but the instructions were pretty useless because they cover a range of options and don’t give enough detail for any one of them to clearly answer questions you’re likely to have.

The sand base / cove depth vs liner needs was the most annoying part. Why wouldn’t the liner manufacturer just state the exact dimension needed, from the liner attachment point on the wall, to the sand base (and cove dimensions)? You will not find this CRITICAL info anywhere.

The instructions say 2″ sand base, and 2-3″ sand base + 6″ cove. Pool factory blog says 3-4″ base. Turns out you’ll get the sand all perfect, get the liner installed, fill with 3″ water to realize you need much more sand.

Drain it, pull liner back, add sand, and maybe repeat this marriage eroding process several times while trying to guess the dimension the liner company knew all along. Sure would be easy for them to let us know in advance?.

This pool is amazingly awesome. The 54″ depth is definitely the way to go. And the actual size of the pool is pretty spacious. After getting it filled with water this pool its super sturdy and amazing quality compared to any other above ground pool.

I couldn’t be happier with this pool. Especially, as an alternative to a real in ground pool that was quoted at an astronomical price. It took us about 3 weekends to get up, and 2 tries to get the liner installed correctly.

The biggest issue we ran into were the instructions. They were absolutely horrific to follow and made to be universal for different pool types. Despite watching the installation video a number of times, there a lot of things we guessed through.

Since I live in Vegas, aka rock hard desert, I had a friend who owns an excavation company help dig down into the ground and thank goodness I did. It took them 12 hours nonstop to get everything dug up, leveled, and excess dirt hauled away.

We had the hole built about 15’x13′ and 24″ deep just to make sure we had plenty of space to build the pool. In hindsight that may have been a bit excessive. We were able to put some boards around the pool to prevent any pressure on the walls and back fill the hole with concrete, which was the cheapest option out here.

For the accessories I went with the 2hp pump, foam coves and walls, and floor covering. I highly recommend the high speed pump to ensure it can clean the pool efficiently. I typically keep it on the low setting and it keeps the pool super clean, even with all the dust here, and i havent noticed an change in my power bill.

Granted my bill is typically high regardless, since its so hot here. Also, get the lift gate service. 100% the way to go. The pallet was so heaviy, both me and the FedEx lady had to push and pull this up my driveway into the garage.

All in all I absolutely love this pool. Its the perfect alternative if you can have the real thing. Its a pain to build but super easy to manage on your own.

We are so very pleased with our new pool, and so glad that The Pool Factory had it in stock for immediate delivery. It arrived as promised, and the bit of extra freight for the unloading was worth every penny.

Pool companies here in our area were so busy that there was no way they could set one up, so we tackled it ourselves. The pump and filter system is fantastic and there’s no problem with this system getting all that water (about 14,000 gallons) all circulated.

We had a problem with the liner but folks at the Pool Factory corrected it immediately and very fairly. We purchased the extra insulation for the sides and we feel that this helps keep heat in the pool overnight.

I was a bit cautious about the resin pool as we use a salt water system but hey, no worries here.

Keeping my pool clean and clear is always a difficult balancing act. HTH Clarifier Advanced has made it that much easier to achieve sparkling clear water. Although the bottle says it is fast acting, it did take a couple of days for me to notice a significant difference in my pool water’s clarity.

The directions are extremely easy to follow. I used Clarifier Advanced about 8 hours after shocking my pool and using HTH Algae Guard. Since it is concentrated, you only have to use 2 oz for every 10,000 gallons of pool water.

This product did not affect my pool’s ph either.

I have been using HTH Pool Care Clarifier every swimming season for years. It helps make dull or cloudy pool water sparkle brilliantly after treatment. It is great for clearing up water and removing debris like dead algae and other organic matter after shocking.

I purchased this product along with some others after having our pool’s water tested and found out the levels in certain areas where off. Before agreeing to purchase the chemicals from the pool center I decided to try HTH brand.

What I purchased was 1/3 the price vs the store’s brand. I wasn’t sure how this would stack up, you know the old saying you get what you pay, well I’m happy to say that this product worked perfectly compared to the store brand.

I will now be purchasing all my chemicals from HTH.
