20 Best Pillow For Sleeping In A Recliner (2023 Updated)

I was pretty excited to try out a new pillow, as I am always looking for an improvement on my sleep. I put this pillow on my side of the bed and hoped for the best. Initial thoughts: it’s pretty low, I needed to put another pillow under it for it to be comfortable.

As soon as I put my memory foam pillow under it I was much more comfortable, it sort of conformed around my head and I was able to settle into it pretty nicely. Overall I think I slept pretty well with it so that’s a plus.

But definitely expect to have a second pillow for more support to go along with it. My only other complaint is when I first laid on it it was almost rattling like it was wrapped in something sort of plastic like.

I don’t know what that was about but I didn’t feel like it continued after I put it on top of my other pillow. Maybe just because I settled into it better I moved around less. I slept on my back and stomach using this pillow and didn’t feel uncomfortable doing so at all.

So I think I would recommend this!.

I am a pillow person and we normally have three or more on the bed just for me. I was excited to try this one since it was for all positions as well. I am an all over sleeper. I sleep on my stomach, back, and side all pending the night and how I am feeling I guess.

I have a side sleeper pillow that has the slight hole in the middle. This one does not. It is like a standard pillow. It feels super soft and squishy and I was worried it would be a little too soft for my liking.

However; it is dense at the same time allowing it to give some support while I am using it. It does keep its shape as well as far as not deflating. It is not memory foam so it will not shape to you. I also really love the size.

This was a King and it fit a king size pillow case with no issues. Overall, a great pillow.

Received this pillow gratis in return for my review. The pillow felt very much like it was filled with down or feathers, like he pillows I used when I was a kid in the 50s & 60s. That is a compliment.

Unfortunately for me, I found it is too soft for my current need for support when I sleep, regardless of my position at any given time. However, my wife now is using it loves it, her head is not near as heavy as mine and this pillow suits her needs perfectly throughout the night.

Bottom line is, and this is strictly my personal opinion, this pillow is best suited for those who are not in need of much head/neck support when they sleep; this pillow is perfect for them.

I am struggling with these pillows. Probably my fault as I didn`t realise that medium pillows are supposedly for back sleepers only. I am finding them soft and lumpy. They are also deeper than any pillows I have had and as I need 2 pillows to sleep well 2 of these is too high and 1 not high enough.

My husband is in love with his pillow and is getting a much better night sleep with it. It really does make a difference. No more headaches or neck pains, thank you very much. He is no longer punching a pillow during the night to get it to the right shape for his neck and head.

Linea 1. 0 feels great under neath my head. It’s been a long time that I’ve been looking for a real comfortable pillow and now I’ve found one. My recommendation is to all who have found it difficult in sleeping on a real good pillow to get a Linea 1.

I love these pillows! I received them as a gift for Christmas and I like them so much that I decided to buy these pillows as a gift for a family member. The firmness is just right when it comes to my head and neck.

Quality is good!.

I ordered 2 of these. I didn’t actually get 2 soft ones that I ordered I got a soft and a firm. To be fair I didn’t send them back as both seemed pretty comfortable. Neither of us have had a bad night’s sleep on them.

The firm one is really firm so if your wanting something softer it’s not for you. It does how ever hug your head as you lay on it. The soft one is really soft and your head sinks in but doesn’t leave you in an uncomfortable position it still holds you.

I would recommend both of these.

This pillow consists of 3 very thin pillows within an outer pillow case. There is no noticeable difference between the 3 pillows and they are not marked as to which may be the thickest. All 3 together hardly make up a substantial pillow.

I am using one of the 3 pillows underneath my normal pillow which had become flattened with time and this has helped to raise the old pillow slightly, but I would have been better off buying a thicker more plush pillow in the first place, at a far cheaper price.

I need big, thick, firm pillows to sleep on due to my sinus issues. This is neither big nor thick and offers no support at all. I thought it would fluff up once I’d taken it out of the bag, but sadly not.

What a horrible disappointment and waste of money.

As a side sleeper this backpacking pillow is almost exactly what I was looking for. The good: 1) it has an inch of crushed foam on top and the shell is comfortable and soft, so it feels good on the face.

2) It blows up thick enough to fill up the space between my shoulder and my head, allowing me to sleep on my side. It can also be less inflated for back sleeping. 3) the plastic bag inside can be pulled out if it springs a leak, meaning it’s easy to repair in the field.

(Mine hasn’t leaked yet in a dozen uses. ) 4) the valve fills easily and deflates easily–it has a one-way valve flap that you prop open to deflate, otherwise it keeps the air in even with the plug removed.

5) it squishes down into a nice included stuff sack and is fairly light. The not so good: 1) the plastic bag inside crinkles if you move your head around. Once you’ve found that perfect spot, though and lie still it stays quiet.

I think all inflatables will have this problem. 2) I think I would actually like the large size (I bought the medium to save weight) for extra comfort and to ease the slight feeling that my head will slide off.

The medium does fit perfectly in my mummy bag hood, though. 3) Exped quit making it. The closest they sell now seems to be the down version for more money.

I have not gone camping with this yet, as it is winter. Just inflating it and testing it at home, I can tell that this is exactly what will work great out on a backpacking trip. Time will tell as to how durable it will be, but it isn’t something that will be subjected to harsh conditions.

I got this one because I am a side sleeper and this is the thickest inflatable pillow I could find. I really like the pillow case too. I have used it about 10 nights so far and it is my favorite.

Recently upgraded my ancient mattress to a new hybrid mattress & decided to get new pillows to correspond with this. This Bear pillow is my favorite pillow; primarily because it is high loft & allows me to use only this pillow while sleeping on my back or side.

I also appreciate the phase change material that is on BOTH sides of the pillow. Most other pillows only put the cool material on one side of the pillow & although I use a pillow cover with it. Pillow is huge & substancial, has the perfect firmness for me.

Compared to similar cooling single piece memory foam pillows from BB & Serta this pillow has higher loft & cooling material on both sides. I also appreciate the mesh on the ends to hopefully dissipate warm air although I’m not sure of it’s effectiveness.

Although I bought me mattress from a different company this pillow has me regretting not giving Bear mattresses more consideration while purchasing. If you want an oversized high loft pillow please give this a try, easy return policy if you don’t like it.

I purchased this pillow on sale. Had I paid for full price, I may have regretted it. This pillow is strictly for side sleepers (as it’s described). Don’t bother trying to prop your head up whilst reading or looking at your phone because it’s too difficult to fold and/or maintain a proper support.

The “cooling” component seems to be somewhat acceptable, as I tend to sleep hot, but I didn’t notice a significant difference when compared with my former (unremarkable) pillow. Overall, this pillow does it’s job regarding side sleeping but would be considered overpriced if not on sale.

I ordered the bear pillow because it had high reviews for athletes and people with neck pain. I also ordered it because the website advertises free returns, but I should have read the fine print because this company makes you pay for return shipping.

The bear pillow was so uncomfortable I only used it a single night and absolutely had to return it. First of all, the regular sized bear pillow is way longer than a standard pillow, so it sticks out the end of a standard pillow case.

Second, it’s very dense, and the foam rebounds so quickly it feels bouncy. But “bouncy” is not how I would describe a pillow I want to sleep on. My head would have to be a lot heavier than it is to sink at all into the pillow, so it almost felt like laying my head on a couch cushion.

Not comfortable. And I had to pay out of pocket to ship it back for a refund. I had to make two trips to the post office because the box it was delivered in is considered “oversized” for shipping and would have cost over $70 to mail! So I had to take it home and pack it into a smaller box, which still cost $30 to ship back a $100 pillow.

All in all a frustrating and wasteful experience + one bad night of sleep trying to use this product.

I have been sleeping on the 2. 0 pillow for a little over a month and I really like it. It does a great job supporting my neck and head at, what I feel, is the right height for comfortable sleep. I bought this pillow to replace an expensive competitor pillow I used for about 7 months.

During those 7 months I was waking up with neck pains almost every day and I think it was due to the density causing my neck to not be aligned. Ever since I switched to the Bedgear Galaxy 2. 0 I’ve slept better and have not been waking up with neck pain.

The reason why I give this 4 stars and not 5 is that the “cooling” feature does not work if you use a pillow case, at all. The pillow I replaced had a cooling agent that worked, the galaxy cooling does not work.

I’m not saying it sleeps hot, just does not cool. Just be aware before buying. Overall I highly recommend this pillow if you can live without the cooling aspect.

I was so excited to receive the Galaxy 1. 0 pillow. I had tried it while looking for a mattress at a local store. The salesman put the pillow on the mattress I was trying. I had fallen in love with the pillow so much, I almost bought the mattress to get the pillow (which before I did any research, I was told the pillow was discontinued.

It was called the Dawn 1. 0). I came home and immediately researched the pillow and ordered the Galaxy 1. 0 which I was told was the new replaced Dawn 1. 0. When I received the pillows and slept on it during the night, I realized I couldn’t sleep.

It was WAY too hard for my head. It gave me a headache But what’s more, my lower back hurt me for the rest of the day. I put the pillow back in it’s plastic wrapping and back in the box and am waiting to hear how to return it.

I’m sure it’s a wonderful pillow for some. It just doesn’t work for me. Thank you.

This pillow is well-made, not too heavy, and is cool to the touch. I needed to exchange mine, as the 2. 0 wasn’t enough support around my neck. I have a smaller frame, and have used BedGear pillows before, but this 2.

0 seems to collapse more than the other models I have purchased before. Regardless, it’s a very well made pillow! I am excited that there’s a fit guarantee, so that I can exchange it for a pillow that fits me well.

I am a side sleeper so I need a high loft but really soft pillow. I had great expectations but unfortunately this pillow did not deliver. It is no where near soft enough. The “soft” insert was not very thick so what you get is what you are stuck with.

Every other insert just adds either height or more firmness no way to go softer. The soft insert needs to be at least twice as thick and there is no option to purchase additional filling. I was able to get it to a good height for me, but to do that you had to use the “firm” inserts.

An option should be given to customize your inserts for the price. For me the ideal would have been 2 soft insets on top and the medium on the bottom.

One of the best pillows i have seen and used. No smell, first of all, i did air it but there was no chemical or any type of smell to begin with. Second, the comfort. the pillow filling doesnt shift to either side, you go to bed and wake up with the same form, which i personally love.

I use only two layers, the firm and medium and it is perfect, no neck pain, no shoulder pain. Perfect alignemnt. i use the top soft layer to simoly cuddle cause it is so SO soft and cuddly. I have tried other products and always ended up with a bad product, but this one is a keeper.

I really love it and i plan to get more for the entire family. Also, the price range is just right, to where you dont feel like you need a loan to buy a pillow. So get it, and try it, it was worted for me.

I purchased Scandia Down pillows couple of years ago and decided to wash them recently. I washed them like any other down pillow I’ve ever owned but it took forever to dry (almost two days) and at the end they turned brown/yellow color, with unpleasant smell.

I called customer service and was told I’d have to send the pillows in for evaluation (pay myself for shipping) but from what they could tell, it was due to improper drying and all they could do was offer 30% discount on the replacement product.

They also told me that Scandia Down pillows should never be washed at home, although it doesn’t say that on the label, and since I did wash them myself, the warranty is no longer valid. Apparently, I had to call 1-800 number for washing instructions, which is basically send the pillows in to Scandia Down and have them professionally cleaned for $60/each.

The representative couldn’t tell me what’s different about their down/feather that the pillows can’t be washed at home like all other pillows. I have pillows from Parachute, Macy’s Hotel Collection, Brooklinen and never had issues washing them at home.

I would think a company like Scandia Down would go above and beyond to make a customer happy but obviously it wasn’t the case. I’ll be buying my bedding at Parachute from now on, especially since they have a beautiful new store in our neighborhood with great customer service, better pricing and better quality products.

Pillow was horrible. Flat and scarcely any volume that supported neck or head while in use. Very ineffective and extremely overpriced. Return policy also terrible, as the company refused the return because it had been taken out of its packaging.

Amazon would have never done this! Will never be shopping with this company again.

I purchased this pillow to add to others I have. Although I like the pillow it is not as firm as I expected. I have several firm Scandia pillows and I would say this is the softest even tough the others are old.

I ordered this online and next time I buy a pillow it will be in person.

Purchased the ComfortFit Curved pillow about a month ago and have been using it since. This is the first pillow I’ve used that hasn’t caused me neck pain right off the bat and didn’t cause me a headache due to pressure on my head.

I went curved because it was the one I was tested with in-store and immediately had comfort, likely due to having that “wrapped around” feel. Pillows often automatically cause me a stiff or sore neck through my adjustment period but I have yet to experience that with this pillow.

Pillows also usually are either too firm or soft and end up coming to a point where they either don’t support or are so firm they don’t “give” anymore and cause pressure on my head. I can’t wait to use this pillow with my mattress arrive at the end of the month for a complete experience.

Expensive but absolutely worth the cost. Only thing that bugs me is that the pillow cannot be washed but a protector will be getting purchased to ensure it’s longevity. I’d recommend going with standard sized pillows even with king mattresses – they just seem to be made different.

I was hoping that this pillow after 3 night no pillow case, just in open air would remove the horrible chemical smell. Nope I tried it on the 4th night to sleep. and talk about a stuffy head, sinus pain congestion and horrible headache in the middle of the night from the chemical smell.

I went back to my old pillows had to take allergy meds and slept perfectly on my old horrible neck hurting pillow. Also, if you have hot flash at night this pillow gets hot and your head starts sweating and will not cool off.

I even had the sleep number cool cover on that was supposed to help with wicking away the moisture. I do have to say the one positive if you can get past the chemical smell, sinus congestion, headache and hot feeling this pillow does give good support.

Also a suggestion for sleep number, if you could find a away to machine wash this pillow it might help with the smell. This pillow can not be washed at all because of the foam.

I had been having the same pillow for at least 8 years. It would go flat when I slept on my back or side (which are my 2 favorite sleeping positions). I knew I needed a new pillow and was kind of skeptical about this one thinking it may put too much of a strain on my neck and wake up with a headache, something I often did with my old pillow.

Well, it’s been at least a month and I am still LOVING this pillow. If you get your most restful sleep on you side and back you MUST get this pillow. I wake up with no pain in my neck or shoulders. It is wonderful.

And what makes it even better is if for some reason you don’t love it like me you can return it and don’t have to wait 30 days. I wpuld recommend giving it the 30 days, unless you really hate it, because it makes a difference.

And we havent even gotten our Sleep Number mattress yet so I can just about imagine how I’m going to feel once I start sleeping on that!.

I don’t understand what the complaining is all about with the foam fill and plastic bag insert? IT WORKS AND IT’S LIGHT WEIGHT! This is a luxury camp pillow and you will not regret the extra size when you put your head down.

I haven’t had any problems with durability and frankly I’m not concerned. I trust the R&D and materials that went into this pillow. I had been using a Fillo deluxe for years and the plastic bag insert has never failed.

Why the upgrade? Bigger and better for side sleeping and even on my back, it holds and supports more of my head being a more square shape. Yes, it’s expensive but given the years of use from my last Fillo, it was worth it.

Get it on sale with Moosejaw and it’s not so bad. Plus rewards. Plus excellent customer service. Oh, and best of all, the stuff sack is slightly more forgiving than my previous Fillo, which quite frankly, are ridiculous and unnecessarily too small and tight on tolerances to repack easily.

How many times I’ve wanted to throw it after bending fingernails cramming it it it’s stuff sack- too many! Treat yourself and your fingernails to the ultimate camping/backpacking/travel pillow.

Upon receiving this pillow, my first impression was “this might be exactly what I’m looking for. ” It inflated with just a few easy breathes, and then I let a little air out for my liking and with thickness I achieved, the pillow is perfect.

Very comfortable and it does feel like a “real” pillow. I then examined the inside and what I found was a bunch of small foam pieces that make up the pillow as I expected. Now for the potential issue… the air chamber or inflatable bag if you will is extremely thin.

I would compare it to that of a resealable type of sandwich bag. I don’t know how this is going to hold up for now or in the long run. I have not used it on the trail yet so time will tell. I know less weight is a goal for manufacturers but the bladder isn’t even comparable to the inflatables you find out there.

So, with that, 3 stars is all I can give it for now.

As side sleeping camper with broad shoulders, I really really wanted to love this pillow. Unfortunately, it seems that we are not meant to be. Keep in mind that pillows are probably one of the most subjective things you can review, so you may love it, but for me it didn’t work out.

First of all, the pillow feels hard, even when deflated significantly. Due to the shape, it feels like I’m sleeping on a balloon and I can feel my ear more than when I sleep on my other camping pillows.

I love the height of the pillow but for it to be reasonably comfortable, I have to deflate it so much that it’s the same height as a normal camping pillow. Which defeats the purpose of an extra high pillow for side sleepers.

If this was a super comfortable pillow, I could justify the 14 oz / 400 grams and the large size even when deflated, but when it’s not. I just can’t. For the price, this wasn’t a good buy for me. Sadly, I’ll be going back to my own aeros premium and keep putting clothes under it to make it higher.

I’ve cracked the code. The NEMO Fillo Pillow is the perfect mix of comfort, size, and weight. It feels like a travel memory foam pillow, but it’s much lighter and packs down smaller. I love the inch of doughy foam for comfort paired with the air chamber for height and shape.

The pillow case is soft on my face and can be machine washed when you get home. And one more pro-tip, the foam pocket is accessible so you could add more padding if you needed/wanted. My ultimate backpacking sleeping system for active side sleepers includes the NEMO Fillo Pillow, Western Mountaineering TerraLite bag, and NEMO Quasar 3D Insulated Sleeping Pad.

I am embarrassed by how much I love this pillow. Bought this pillow for camping as it was the best/most comfortable thing I could find in the sports store but after one night use on a packing camp, this has become my pillow for everything.

I normally sleep on my stomach or side but I’ve found this thing to be comfortable enough for me to actually get good sleep on my back even. The two biggest parts for me are the easy inflation adjustment (so I can make it thin to put my arm under for stomach sleep or not hurt my neck on back sleep, or thick to fill the shoulder gap on side sleep) and the soft cushion top to be easy on the cheek and ears.

Wherever I use it I just dial in the size (the valve makes inflation/deflation a lot easier than typical inflatables) and then I’m set for the night. I use it as my regular at home now even and on planes and in hotels when I’m traveling.

Travel is a great use because even on quick trips it defates and fits in my laptop bag. Also love that the she’ll is removable for washing. I will say the $40 price is more pricy then I would normally spend on a pillow even though I generally like nemo as a brand, but I do have to admit that I don’t regret this purchase at all.

I bought one a couple months ago and it is a game-changer. Easily the most comfortable backpacking pillow out there, even more than the Thermarest compressible pillow I also have and love. I have used it on one 3-nighter I just returned from – it was amazing as expected.

As some reviews mention, the only con is that (like most pillows) it can slide around a bit. I found a way to jerry-rig it from sliding completely off my pad but for the most part it stays nestled in the hood part of my sleeping bag.

If you really worry about it sliding away it seems easy enough to string some elastic around the back of your pad; I don’t think it’s that big an issue unless you have the pillow super pumped up. All in all, an amazing and durable (so far) pillow, easy to inflate and adjust, packable (difficult to get it into its stuff sack but still), and surprisingly versatile (I use it for backpacking, camping, road trips, flights, etc.

). BUY ONE while you can!.
