Best Paint Colours For North Facing Rooms (2024 Updated)

I have had this phone for a couple of months now and I must say that it rocks. It delivers a lot of bang for the buck. It’s pretty fast, and the battery life is amazing. There is only one major drawback and that is it does not support NFC.

When i got it i thought this wouldn’t be that big a deal but then I lost my Wells Fargo Bank Card. My previous LG Stylo supported NFC so i was able to get money out of the atm without my bank card and also make purchases at a register by tapping my phone and using Google Pay.

I cannot do that with this phone. it’s a good phone but if I had to do it over again I would have opted for one which supported NFC.

I was in the middle of a difficult move and have been very ill but I did open the samples today and I was absolutely compelled to tell you that as a person with an anaphylactic latex allergy, mast cell disease causing excessive reactions/chemical sensitivities that I can NOT get over how amazing your paint is.

I smelled absolutely nothing. I simply can not believe it. Not a single smell/reaction/issue. I’m not stable enough to paint quite yet, but the samples were both close enough and I will be ordering it.

This was our first experience using Ecos paint. It had a watery consistency that made it harder to use, and required three coats. The initial smell gave me a headache; and when we had to close the windows because of a neighbor burning rubbish, it gave me a terrible migraine headache.

However, we were very pleased with how fast it cured, with no odor the next day. Finished room looks beautiful. I would recommend this, but need someone else to do the painting who tolerates it when wet.

As a person with MCS and an extremely strong sense of smell – and strong reaction to very small amounts of air-borne chemicals, I absolutely love this paint! Even their semi-gloss for baseboards and furniture trim (i.

e. oil trim paint replacement it seems) had zero odor for me by the next day and probably on the same day. (I’ll be testing same day wall paint by painting myself if possible soon. ) This is hands-down the best paint I’ve (and we’ve) ever found and used !! Thanks Green Building Supply.

Over the years, I have tried an array of brands of paint but my go to brand since I bought my new home has been Sherwin-Williams. This was, however, my first experience with the HGTV Home Infinity Paint & Primer line from Sherwin-Williams.

We recently remodeled our powder room and ultimately chose to go with the Repose Gray color from this line. I stirred the paint thoroughly in the can prior to using as the directions stated. I love that this is a paint and primmer in one so we got to skip the priming part and were able to get right to painting the walls! We went from a dark brown color to this light gray color and I was so amazed at the coverage! Even after one coat of paint, the coverage was impressive.

The paint goes on super easy and smooth. I couldn’t wait to see the end result so I was pleased with how fast the paint dried. The Repose Gray color is absolutely beautiful! It is a light gray color that to me is true gray with no undertones which is exactly what I wanted.

I love this color so much that I will be painting my living room in this same color! I have children so I like how easy it is to wipe off any dirt that they may get on my walls! I have gotten so many compliments on my new bathroom makeover and everyone loved the color! This color goes great with any décor and would look fabulous in any area of your home.

This will now be my go to choice of paint! If you are looking for high quality paint, I definitely recommend this one by Sherwin-Williams.

Last year, I was involved in a fire and my children and I were forced to move back into my childhood home. We were so grateful to God, we had someplace else, to go. We have two bedrooms, upstairs and two bonus rooms on each side.

The rooms were so “blah” and it left me with a cruddy and depressed feeling. I saw the different colors Sherwin Williams had to offer and went crazy! The bedroom I was staying in was white and the walls looked old and worn but a fresh splash of paint turned it around completely.

Now my kids have the beautifully-colored rooms while I moved downstairs and could use a fresh layer of paint on the walls. It’s so dark and depressing and I just had a baby and let’s just say it’s not very pleasant to look at.

This house is over 30 years old, I first moved in when I was 5, I’m now 34 so we have A LOT of things to be updated. It’s amazing what the perfect shade of paint can do for your mood! Especially since will be pursuing another work from him nursing job, like I previously had.

Our kitchen and bathrooms all have 30+ year old wall paper. :(.

We had our house built 2 years ago, we only painted the main living room/kitchen area with a different type of HGTVSherwin Williams paint. That paint held up so good that we made sure to stick with that brand! So now we are finally getting to paint the rest of the house.

We’re turned our boring dungeon into Sunshine by using Honeycomb & Peppery (if you feel inspired by these colors). Since it’s an entry room to the house we wanted it to feel larger and this did exactly that.

We have dogs, so the bottom section of the walls would have needed primer with most other paints. We only needed two coats of color and we were done! Overall great product, and will definitely be using it again for future projects! Can’t wait to use the other colors we got to paint the rest of the house!.

I also disagree with the first review. I’ve used many paint brands, but recently we painted our entire home walls with Sherwin Williams “Super Paint” flat (Pure White). It’s decent. I’m used to applying 2 coats regardless of the brand and some rooms I use a primer coat first, regardless of the color I’m covering.

The last project was the master bathroom (medium muddy green, the darkest color by far). I was checking the Magnolia paint in the store (never used before) and decided to try the “Shiplap” matte. I just wanted a touch of color.

It’s very light, so I applied a quick primer coat. You could definitely see the color beneath the primer. I thought for sure I’d have to apply 2 coats of the “Magnolia Shiplap”. I was impressed. One coat was just fine.

I would definitely recommend this paint and will use again.

I’ve been painting for a few years now and this last job we gave BM Aura a go because the client was inclined to use it. I’ve got a good relationship with the owner of the local paint store who is always in touch with the BM rep in our area.

After prepping the walls we began to cut in and rolled immediately after, in about 15-20 minutes we noticed severe sagging all across the bottom and top essentially where the roller lines would stop even after feathering with a dry roller.

We applied it in different methods and even slightly diluted the paint with water after seeing that as a recommended action on a painter forum. Still sagged, not just at the top and bottom but also in random spots throughout the wall.

We had our buddy who owns the paint store come check it out and he was baffled at the subpar performance of the paint, and also notified us that it could potentially be a bad batch or an issue with them since they apparently changed the formula recently.

Regardless, making this paint look good is meticulous. It almost feels like putting Breakthrough on the walls. I’m a BM fan, but as of right now I’m vowing to only use Regal Select on these sorts of jobs.

BM recently reformulated Aura and it’s a noticeable square footage coverage downgrade. Sure, it covers extremely well from an opacity perspective, but since most situations call for two coats anyways I don’t care about slightly better opacity coverage if I’m losing meaningful square foot coverage.

That just means I need two gallons of very expensive paint where I used to need one.

My life long love affair with Farrow and Ball paint is over unfortunately. Their gloss paint used to be absolutely amazing in terms of quality and even if you weren’t that clever a painter this stuff made your interior woodwork look wonderful and I have never had to repaint.

This new oil free stuff is terrible and I feel they have a cheek to charge people the amount they do – after two undercoats with their own brand and three coats of gloss I’ve given up the will to live because my skirting boards look awful and I just cant be bothered to rub them down and paint them anymore! They look like I’ve painted them with nail varnish! This will be another company that goes down the tubes unless they sort this out.

I’ve been using and advocating F&B for over 30 years, justifying the price because the quality is so good. Not anymore. What a shame.

10 years of using Farrow and ball. I have wood panelling throughout my home. I wouldn’t use anything else. Yes compare to delux and cheaper brands which this can not be compared to because it is made by totally paint geniuses! All white has totally no pigment at all which creates its superior whiteness.

I have used their emulsion too for the same time frame and they are also the same. Comparing this to silicon well tbh It’s like comparing a Aston Martin to a KA.

Dries far too quickly. I used it on spindles and found that if you put it on thinly it leaves lines but put it on more thickly and it dribbles down but you can’t blend in the drips without scuffing the paint because its drying so quickly.

I tried different brushes, I tried stirring it for ages, my husband had a go with it but always the same problems. We gave up after 2 spindles and returned it. I’ve had to re-sand the spindles that I used this paint on.

Also, it claims to be a ‘soft, sympathetic’ shade of white but I would describe it as stark white.

Snow Day is a lovely white that plays well with other colors. I combined it with Shade trim in my little parlor (it’s too small to be a family room) and the paint alone was enough to transform a drab little room into a space we want to sit and read and pet our cats.

At first, I painted the entire room, trim and all, Shade, but it didn’t suit the room somehow. I went back and painted just the walls and ceiling in Snow Day, and it looks marvelous. Covering Shade took four coats of Snow Day simply because it is so dark.

So far, I’ve used Snow Day, Current Mood, Nairobi Blue, Whipped and Matcha Latte. They are all lovely colors, but what I love about Clare paints is their depth of color and how they are so very interesting.

I don’t look at Nairobi Blue and think, oh, that room is blue. It captures your attention and makes you think about things in nature that are that color and where you might have seen it before. It makes dark wood furniture glow and loves all blues, greens and teals, grays.

This company is terrific. I uploaded my color code and submitted my order. And less than a week later my paint arrived! Benjamin Moore paint is excellent quality!

Used the BM paint to do the doors on our total kitchen remodel. Extremely satisfied with this product.

I bought this as have used farrow and ball before and their paint is so good for cleaning. However, although this is advertised as washable and wipeable, it really isn’t. Before purchasing and paying for a painter, do a bit of research in to F&B paint finishes to see if this is for you.

It isn’t recommended from F&B for any high use areas. It isn’t shiny either, like a previous description says, more a chalky finish that is very porous and not wipeable. I will be re purchasing the same colour elsewhere, in modern emulsion – which is a paint that can be wiped over and does have a slight sheen to it.

So unfortunately it’s a redecorate for us, just a few months after finishing.

We decided to try Lick to redecorate the whole of our 2 bed flat (roughly 900 sq ft). We bought 8 cans of paint in total which mostly did the trick. We needed 2 coats of paint everywhere. Things we loved: -The samples.

So simple. Perfect match. Easily peeled on and off the wall and moved around the house. -The selection. A million paint samples is overwhelming, Lick has already curated a perfect blend of stunning trendy colours for you, so you don’t have to spend days choosing the perfect white, they’ve done that for you.

-Branding. Sexy right? Super cute and very appealing to the eye. Things we didn’t like: – Price. I mean come on, 8 cans wound up costing us £304. All in all the paint is nice, rolls on well and gets good coverage but is not some magical mixture that makes it twice as valuable as most other market paints.

– We weren’t sure how much we needed so wound up having to order 2/3 times, which made the wait to get paint quite frustrating. We also had some delays on our order so we wound up waiting 5 days to receive our second order when we were in the middle of the painting.

The flat was left a tip of course as we couldn’t put everything away until the job was done. – The tin itself, is cute. Lovely little handle. But the spout it worse than your average paint tin. Honestly, this didn’t bug us tremendously, but other reviews commented on how great the spout was, so thought it was worth highlighting.

All in all, we wouldn’t use Lick again unless we were doing a very small job i. e painting a set of drawers etc. It’s far easier and more economical for larger jobs, to pop down to your local paint shop to get what you need.

We were super excited to try the Lick product as I love your colours and everyone has been raving about how easy and well it applies. We found this wasn’t the case. First layer was very patchy. It took 3 layers to create a unified build up and admittedly the finished application looks great and has a beautiful matt quality but we found ourselves feeling lucky that it was only a small room we were painting and that we were only painting to a certain height.

I am extremely happy with the colour and cannot wait to get the room dressed as i know it is going to look spectacular and has really changed the entire feel of my basement guestroom / home office. We are just slightly underwhelmed with the actual painting experience after hearing so much hype.

I used to use another brand of paint until about about 22 years ago when I switched to Benjamin Moore on the advice of a professional painter. After all these years, I would never change from Benjamin Moore Paints, especially on the outside of my house.

It goes on smooth, dries well and looks fantastic! It’s durability in all types of weather never ceases to amaze me!.

We chose Nairobi Blue for our kids’ bedroom walls after comparing various shades of blue with Clare paint swatches. It’s a very pretty blue in natural light. The paint rolls on smoothly and there’s virtually no odor, especially when compared to the generic primer we used.

We turned on the room light to see better when we were painting and realized the paint looked more green than blue in artificial light, which was disappointing because we really wanted blue. This is still the case after the paint has dried.

The color is beautiful when it’s daytime and natural light lights up the room. We’re ok with it when we have to use the room lights instead. In retrospect, I think Frozen might have been a better choice – more of a sky blue that’s a lighter shade closer to white.

For perspective, we used this color for three of four walls with the last wall being an accent wall with a wallpaper mural. The mural will be dark and a lighter color would provide a better contrast.

Nairobi Blue is very pretty but it’s more water-like than sky-like if that makes sense.

I have used this colour throughout in my bedrooms and I really love this colour. The coverage is great and two coats is enough. It is a warm subtle colour and I highly recommend it. Well worth the expense.

I must say I was weary of paying so much for a tin of paint (especially as my dad works for Johnston’s paint, and yes he doesn’t let me forget it) however this product really does deliver. I also used the mid tones primer before which goes on a green colour.

Two coats of the top coat and it covers amazing. Such lovely hints of grey, beige, lilac. Used the modern emulsion as it’s gone on the stairs and so far very impressed.

Used this to paint an old wardrobe. So pleased with the results, the wardrobe looks brand new!! Everyone who’s seen it can’t believe how good the coverage is. Would highly recommend. We used the recommended primer alongside it, so can’t comment on what it would be like without but I’d suggest investing in it.

Bought this for a chimney breast wall that was not in great condition. Had previously been daubed in a dark pink/red and not done well. Had plenty of The Hague Blue for the job in hand, so just got on with it.

Covered instantly and brilliantly, no need for a second coat. Looks amazing in any light, from any angle. Would highly recommend !.

I’ve seen that a previous reviewer gave the product 1 * however my experience of this paint is quite different. Bought on 3 for 2 and did a large feature wall behind my bed along with 2 large alcoves.

I still have 1/3 of a tin left and returned 2 that didn’t get opened. I can honestly say this is the best paint I’ve ever used. The pigmentation is amazing, the coverage amazing, it’s too early to comment on colour fading but I can say that I marked the wall when putting the furniture back together and it wiped clean off.

It has a lovely chalky Matt finish and I’m so so pleased with the result that I’d consider swapping permanently to this paint. I’ve always used Dulux but fell in love with Farrow and Ball Hague blue.

So deviated but Dulux may never get me back now. other than Dulux Pure brilliant white. Although I dont reccomend the kitchen clean easy white it was like trying to paint with jelly. Farrow and Ball paint also goes a long long way.

Incredible colour, it took me a while to find that perfect colour for my feature wall and this fits the bill beyond all expectations. It paints very evenly, two coats and the wall is perfect. It’s very “Matt” no sheen, almost chalkboard texture, but such depth of colour I’ve paired this with Dulux Pebble Shore and it is a great combination.

It’s an expensive paint, but it shines through. Probably the nicest paint I’ve ever bought and used.

Coatings marketed as paint and primer are misleading including the Ben Moore Regal line. This is a decent paint but not a $60 per gallon paint. I had several discussions with the product technical support group and they were quite helpful however by their own admission said to achieve satisfactory results a primer is recommended and generally two color coats required.

Didn’t come close to the 400 to 450 square foot coverage stated in the specs.

Purchased this base 4 paint in Emerald Isle color, both 1 gallon and a sample for my son to see before committing. I noticed that the sample seemed thin and I could see every brush stroke on the wall.

This was not the case on my daughter’s room using the same paint, but a base 1. Went ahead and purchased a gallon of each (pink for her). My daughter’s room barely needed a second coat. However, on the very first cut with the green, I could see the brush strokes again.

Rolled on the first coat and hoped it would blend when dry. Nope. Every roller line could be seen and lots of spots with no paint coverage, like it just pulled away. Tried a second coat, same result.

I had just enough to try a 3rd coat the next day with everything dry. Slightly better, but still many spots with poor coverage. It is either the color or the base 4 paint since I did not have the problem with the base 1 “Pretty Pink”.

Either way, for the price, this should not require 4 coats of paint. I’d never buy this again. Behr is less expensive and I painted every room in my last house with no issues. Stay away.

Finding latex free paint that isn’t oil based enamel is 1. Not a thing 2. Color on swatch isn’t color you get 3. Kills brain cells with the smell 4. Takes WEEKS to off gas 5. Kills brain cells. Painting a 12×12 room use to take me days because of the need for ventilation and it killed brain cells- you see a theme here? This is reason alone to use ECOS paints! However, I have a class 1 latex allergy- like anaphylaxis reaction from a rubber band snapping in the same room, multiple epi pens, tube down the throat, medication for days BAD! We discovered this while painting our home 12 years ago with interior latex paint.

Shortly after we discovered that latex free interior paint really wasn’t a thing, but enamel based paint was…. we only painted when we did new construction- which was very little. Our walls were left “primer gray†for years because of the lack of safe options.

Fast forward 10 years and enter ECOS paint- game change and literally “LIFE-SAVINGâ€. We recently purchased our dream home. Needing some tlc, we’ve been able to remodel without having to worry about alternative wall covering or gassing out the place.

ECOS us allowed us to make our home OURS in every way!.

This paint was delivered packaged very well and in perfect condition. When wet it looked like it didn’t match the color specified however when it dried it was EXACTLY the same color as the paint swatch I got from Sherwin Williams.

It looks beautiful, there was almost no odor at all and it dried fast. I highly recommend it! I have a lot of chemical sensitivities especially to paint, and I had no reaction at all. It’s more expensive than the paint stores and worth every penny to be safe.

I will order the paint for my whole house from ecospaints. The color matching is impressive.

The paint smells like airplane glue when you are applying it and I got quite sick over the fumes. I was lead to believe that there would not be any fumes and that’s why I invested so much money into two gallons of it.

The false advertising on their site states “non-toxic” and I was lead to believe that in good faith. This is unfair and also not on the up and up. A big disappointment and no better than paint you can buy anywhere.

They make sure to put no refunds when purchasing the product.
