20 Best Non Dairy Milk For Hot Chocolate (2023 Updated)

I initially bought these for my 10 year old son, who stopped growing, but he didn’t care for the taste. Then my 16 year old Autistic son tried them and LOVES THEM!! We bought original and chocolate. The chocolate seems a little bit intense with the chocolate flavor, but we just add a bit of coconut milk to it to lessen the intensity.

The original is good on it’s own and very good over cereal according to my teen. Now my 10 year old says it is growing on him and he likes it now. We will probably keep ordering since they both need the extra nutrition! Thanks for the great product!.

My toddler doesn’t seem to love it (I’m really hoping she warms up to it later) but I love it! My husband (not dairy free) described it as tasting like a protein shake. My first drink of it was a little strange as it wasn’t quite what I was expecting but I really like it now and even crave it! And I love all the good ingredients! I haven’t tried the original yet because that one has banana which I hate haha.

But if the banana flavor is masked I might like that one too! You can’t taste the blueberries, spinach, or seaweed in the chocolate one though!.

When I think of consuming milk, I choose almond, coconut and oat milks. Almond breeze milk is a thinner consistency than coconut or oat milk and definitely the preferred milk of choice for my 18 year old son’s homemade protein drinks.

It tastes great, doesn’t have an odd aftertaste and makes my coffee, oatmeal, smoothies and cereals just right! I’ll even use it in place of water when I make my children pancakes. I usually pick up a few boxes of original and vanilla Almond Breeze milk to stock my fridge and pantry.

I’ve thought about making my own almond milk, but the process seems a bit too tedious for me. In turn, picking up a box of Almond Breeze milk keeps things simple and easy. I love that I can stock a number of boxes in my pantry unrefrigerated until I’m ready to consume.

It’s also easy for me to find this product in the stores I frequent, like Target, Sprouts, Stater Bros. , Ralphs and Vons.

I’ve been using this milk alternative for almost a year now. I’ve opted in after trying Silk and Trader Joe’s versions, which are both good too. But this one is such a great balance that I’ll drink it entirely by itself.

It tastes even better with cereals. I’m a huge fan and highly recommend. Only side note is that I recommend using a different milk to cook. I do use this for making scrambled eggs and I think it slightly sweetens it, but in other foods, that wouldn’t be a preference for me personally.

this is my favorite non dairy milk. sometimes i use the vanilla one with pancakes and other baked sweets but the unsweetened one here is so versatile, it mixes well with mac and cheese and doesn’t have a noticeable taste.

this is so great for cookies. i love making chocolate milk with this brand and i’ve never even liked drinking regular milk. love this brand especially this larger size. i keep a bottle of this at work for my coffee every day.

We’ve tried a great many cocoas over the years and this is the best one yet. Even better that it’s vegan. The vast majority are sickly sweet, but this has just the right amount of sweetness, but is still extra chocolatey.

If you like good cocoa, give this one a try. You won’t be disappointed.

I used to love hot chocolate around the holidays. My brothers and I would play out in the slow for hours and the only way to get us back inside was to call us in for hot chocolate. My dairy sensitivity started about 6 years ago and I’ve been completely lactose intolerant since about 4 years ago.

I was so excited to see a dairy free (and completely vegan) hot chocolate product, but I was weary to taste it. Well take it from a long-time hot chocolate connoisseur. it’s pretty close to the real hot chocolate I had as a kid.

I make it with water and add some of my favorite dairy-free creamer to give it that creamy consistency. I have yet to try it with nut milk instead of water. But I LOVE this product- wish I could be a product ambassador, that’s how much I love and recommend it.

Honesty, I’m disappointed in this product. I had high hopes for it. However, the product is almost too sweet for my liking. I use half the amount, just to tolerate it. The drinking chocolate powder does not mix well- In hot or cold liquids.

The chocolate powder clumps &/or floats on top. I haven’t tried using my immersion blender to see if that would help at all, but wish that I didn’t even have to consider doing that. Needless to say, I won’t be repurchasing this product.

Tastes amazing and does what it says! BUT, it is quite clearly expensive. If you can stand caking of unsweetened baking cocoa in your hot chocolate, it is much cheaper to buy baking cocoa and the sweetener separately.

Otherwise, the best sugarfree hot chocolate I’ve had. One more note, the seal didn’t work for me but it could be a manufacture fluke so I’ll give benefit of the doubt. (first time I’ve encountered this with this brand).

my 5-year ol son loves it!. i started giving this to him when he started summer camp where he was physically active for 6. 5 hours per day (2 hours of tennis in the morning and 2 hours swim and dive in the afternoon and 2.

5 hours of enrichment class in between) monday thru friday for 7 weeks without missing a day… i continue to give it to him now that he started kindergarten. it is the one thing he consumes off from his lunch box without fail.

he says it tastes great and makes him feel full. My son is not good at eating independently yet, so I do not feel bad if he does not consume all his snacks and lunch because of the nutrional value this milk offers.

He is a SEA thalassemia carrier; hence cow’s milk is contraindicated. Almond and Soy milk are great alternatives to get his daily calcium and protein daily intake. Another wonderful thing is, It is shelf-stable, I am able to stock up and Walmart has the best price out there.

It is packaged in a skinny container with a straw attached to it — makes it easy and convenient for my son’s age and his tiny hands.

I’ve been purchasing Silk Chocolate Soy Milk for a couple years and it’s great in my coffee. Makes a a soy mocha treat! I especially like these small containers since I only have to open a little bit at a time.

Each individual one lasts for about 4 or 5 cups of coffee (instead of regular cream).

Soo good. I love it. Plant based. I like silk beverages. Great for drinking just like that, baking, and for granola. Buy it on sale . Awesome products. I always like silk.

Only unsweetened almond milk I will buy! 10 year fan, will not switch brands! Delicious flavor and touch of vanilla. I hate the taste of cow’s milk (although I love plain Greek yogurt) and plain cow’s milk does awful things to my GI tract and hormonal cycle.

Silk almond milk makes me feel great and Target always has it in stock for a great price! I use it in smoothies and add a splash or two to coffee. I like it in cereal too. Glad the sodium is lower in this than other brands and no oil or sugar like some other non-dairy milk options.

I am the biggest fan of silk dark chocolate almond milk. My husband bought a carton and noone in the house liked it. Not wanting to see it go to waste I gave it another try. Now I drink about a carton every 2-3 days.

Ive noticed how my skin has become much more clear since I stopped drinking cows milk. My digestion has significantly improved and I don’t feel as bloted and full as I did drinking cows milk. I absolutly HAVE to have silk if I eat anything thats full of carbs.

Love that it has a natural higher calcium content. 440 mg per 8oz. Love that it it has no sugar or cholesterol. I could so easily meet my calcium requirements without calcium supplements which can cause coronary artery disease.

I have osteoporosis, so don’t want to consume tons of dairy either. It made me extremely constipated. That resolved itself when I stopped using it. Flavor, you can get used to. Which I actually liked it better than milk.

Cost is ridiculous though.

Has the mouthfeel of regular milk, not too thick and oily like some dairy-free alternatives. Maybe the tiniest bit sweeter than cow’s milk, almost like a lactose-free milk. There is the slightest tinge of pea flavor, but you really have to think about it.

It doesn’t bother me, I find this milk quite tasty. The photo on the site shows cartons with straws, but the one I bought has the updated packaging with screw-on lids. It’s a bit pricey, but worth it as an occasional treat when I’m craving something milky.

My kids love the taste and flavor I ripple and just like their other mom dairy favorites, we like to keep these stocked for lunch and snack. We fell in love with Ripple when they first started and we continue to buy it often.

However the delivery made me realize that maybe this isn’t the best option as it was delivered in 98* weather and I walked outside to pick it up as soon as it was delivered however the box was so hot that so was the milk.

Ever had hot almond milk? It’s bitter. We will not be drinking this milk unfortunately. Other than that I recommend you do buy it in store or same day delivery refrigerated.

I’m so glad Swiss Miss finally came out with a non dairy hot chocolate! It’s affordable and it tastes just like the original. I can’t tell the difference. It’s soo good that I get a monthly subscription from Amazon.

I always make mine with Chobani vanilla oat milk and sometimes top it off with some vegan whipped cream. Its deliciously good! Its not thin like some reviews said. With any kind of hot drink, you can’t put it in a huge mug and expect it to have a strong taste.

I never made mine with water though, so maybe that was why. I don’t know. A regular size mug will suffice. Try it, and taste for yourself.

I am thrilled that someone finally came out with a non-dairy hot chocolate and this Swiss Miss one is amazing!! Does it taste just like the dairy version? Probably not, but if you’re like me and allergic or sensitive to dairy and are used to the alternatives (and can’t really remember what the real stuff tastes like anyway), you’ll love this.

I don’t taste coconut in it, like I often do with coconut milk based products. I add candy canes to it and it tastes like peppermint hot chocolate should. I’ve made it with water and with oat milk and it’s good both ways, but I prefer water because plant based mills can alter the taste.

I just really love having even the option to be able to have hot cocoa without getting sinus issues so please never stop making it or carrying it!.

I bought 5 of these on special offer. Can’t help but think there has been some kind of production problem as it is indistinguishable from a slightly musty water. Tried it with cereal and tasted like water, so tried it in coffee which tasted like black coffee.

The only way I can enjoy a cup of tea is with this milk, I’ve tried so many and been a KOKO customer for years. The unsweetened is my favourite and I prefer the UHT to the fresh version. I highly recommend especially if you’re struggling to find a milk that doesn’t overpower your tea.

I don’t drink milk so can’t say what it is like for that but I’ve used the milk to bake with and it’s really good to use. It’s not over powering with coconut flavour so makes it a good all rounder.

Our favourite milk, I buy 6 cartons a week with our shopping. We gave up dairy milk last year and my sons hated plant milk initially but they have come round and now enjoy this with cereal and drinks.

Fab price too, usually bought for £1. 25 which is a lot lower than most plant mills. Doesn’t split in hot drinks like many others!!! Plus the taste is quite pleasant and is one of the few that I can drink on its own.

The taste had a slight sweetness due to the grape which I think is gorgeous, then there’s a slight coconut taste but not overpowering to those that dislike coconut (like my son). It just adds a lovely creaminess 😋 🎩🖤.

We buy these by the box at Costco. It has a clean taste, the beverage isn’t too sweet, and the flavor is absolutely perfect for cereal, hot chocolate, and piña coladas! I don’t recommend baking with it, and it isn’t quite creamy enough for coconut rice, but it’s a regular staple in our house.

This coconut milk is pretty good, if a little watery. Shaking well before every use helps that tendency, as well as the one towards small bits of congealed coconut milk floating in the watery stuff. Shaking keeps the milk at a proper thickness and texture.

All the negative reviews – There are different types of coconut milk; milk you cook with (thick, creamy, un-refrigerated, and has more fat); THIS is a milk alternative to use in coffee/tea, drink by itself, use in cereals, etc.

It’s not meant for cooking, which is why I think the bad reviews are from, they selected the wrong type. About this: I’m allergic to soy, almonds, lactose intolerant, but want less calories and fat than the new fad of oat milk.

I’ve been using this coconut milk for hears. I use it smoothies, drink it alone, use it my coffee, etc. I drink this every day. I hate coconut, but as others have noted, it doesn’t have an overwhelming coconut taste or smell which is perfect for me.

I am reviewing a coconut milk and am not proud of it. If you like the taste and texture of real coconut milk, this white liquid will disappoint you. This unsweetened “coconut milk” has no discernible coconut taste or any taste at all really.

Pretty sure this product is simply water that has been thickened with coconut flour/starch, in a commercial kitchen/lab, in the northwestern USA. Not buying again. My quest for coconut milk that tastes like, and is made from coconuts continues.

I think that people are confused about the product they’re buying. This is a dairy substitute, used the same way milk is used. Cow’s milk is not used in curry or piña coladas. If you need coconut milk to follow a specific recipe (and as a former bartender, I’m sure your piña colada recipe calls for coco Lopez) make sure you follow the specific recipe recommendations.

So Delicious coconut milk is an amazing milk substitute and the only “milk†three out of five of my family members can and will drink.

Raaka chocolate is one of my favorite brands! I’ve seen them at whole foods but it’s also cheaper to buy directly from Raaka. com. They have all these different flavors and you can tell the cacao is high quality from the taste of the bars.

They don’t over roast. The packaging is beautiful. Overall obsessed. A must have in my pantry at all times.

It has a great texture when melted in the moth. It was chocolaty with just the hint of strawberry. Once you chew the strawberry and coconut, you get a fantastic taste of strawberry.

YUM THIS CHOCOLATE IS AMAZING. If you eat vegan this is one of my go to chocolates. I love a rich dark chocolate to end the night after a clean meal. Highly recommend and they are worth paying the price for.

You should know that I am very picky about chocolate. I appreciate all kinds of chocolate, except white chocolate which is pure garbage, but I only eat (or drink) good chocolate. I am not giving this hot cocoa 5 stars because they use great ingredients; obviously corn syrup solids are a cheap cop-out.

I am giving this cocoa five stars because this is the only cocoa I have ever had that tastes like real chocolate. If you are afraid of trying this cocoa because you do not like dark chocolate, I would like to assure you that this is most certainly not a dark chocolate flavor, and even my coworkers who are strictly milk chocolate lovers and were reluctant to try it were easily converted after one sip.

It simply tastes exactly the way you expect chocolate to taste. I have tried Starbucks, Ghirardelli, powder, melting cubes, Land O’ Lakes, and several European brands of hot chocolate, but somehow none of them get that pure chocolate taste into their cocoa the way “Dark Chocolate Sensation” does.

I literally have no explanation for WHY this simple cocoa is the best of all cocoas. It just is. Should they ever change or discontinue it, I will leave the planet. Dear Swiss Miss, I would reconsider marketing this as dark chocolate; people who know what varying degrees of dark chocolate taste like will expect this to taste like some version of dark chocolate when it doesn’t, and your customers who “hate dark chocolate” are missing out on something they will enjoy.

I’m off dairy for the Winter. The struggle is REAL. BUT this is the BEST dairy substitute (full fat version) so far. I have tasted almond, coconut milk, rice milk, soy milk as subs for coffee and this has made its way to the #1 (dairy substitute) coffee creamer spot.

NOTHING will ever replace the taste of creamer in your coffee but if you are looking for a sub, but this makes drinking coffee with non-dairy creamer complete again. You complete mmmmmY coffee? definitely worth a try.

Love that it’s Gluten-Free, Non-GMO, Glyphosate-free, just wish is that they also had an ORGANIC option. Hopefully soon!.

Oatly is the gold standard oatmilk brand, and Oatly Full Fat is the gold standard of Oatly. Seriously, before trying oatmilk I had tried every almond, macadamia, soy, rice, coconut, hemp, pea milk out there.

Once I tasted Oatly I knew I had finally ended my search. It’s creamy, but not in an “ew this has thickeners” way. The oat taste is mild and complimentary. It performs AMAZINGLY in coffee and tea, in fact this spring Starbucks will roll out Oatly to all of its stores nationwide, that’s right, instead of making their own proprietary oatmilk as they did with soy, coconut, and almond Starbucks decided to go with Oatly brand; why? after looking in to Oatly’s process it looks like they have a patented process that they’ve been using since the 70s.

That would explain why other brands like Silk and even Califia don’t come close. If you’ve been considering oatmilk or alternative milks: this is the one. I also recommend their ice creams.
