I haven’t used hair rollers since college. My hair has gotten very thin over the years from using curling irons so I decided to use hair rollers again these are perfect for my hair my curls are really tight the next day and they’re very comfortable to sleep in my curls come out really great when I wet the tip with leave-in conditioner and best of all I don’t even have to roll my hair every night the curls often last 3-4 days best $8 I’ve spent and saves me money from going to the beautician!! Flimsy plastic clasps makes using these rollers difficult. The old school version of these curlers had a more substantial clasp. I spent way too much time trying to close each curler that I’d placed in my hair.

I have chemical free-natural, dense, tightly curled African American hair that is about bra strap length when straightened. I used these curlformers with no holding product or gel, only leave-in and grease, set the curlers and air dried over night.

To be sure they set I sat under my hooded dryer for 30 mins. I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome of my smooth, ringlet/spiral curls that lasted a week. This was my first time using these and they are pretty easy to use.

I would recommend these for people with short to medium hair. I have very long hair and when I wrapped my hair on these thin rollers my hair came out looking like an afro! No way to wrap looser (as advertised for softer larger curls) because end need to be wrapped tight to keep on curler and then the rest is spiraled down thin curler resulting in Shirley Temple ringlets that spring like a slinky toy.

My hair went from 20″ long to 6 inches long! If curlers were larger in diameter would be great as easy to sleep on and easy to curl.

I already have another package of these curlers. These are a bit wider but that’s not a big deal. What makes me laugh is the same product, same package the new ones says “4 bonus curlers!!” Funny the exact same number of curlers were in my other package.

I do 50s hairstyles where the curls have to be very good and these are perfect. It comes with 2 different sizes and I use the smaller ones in the back and the bigger ones towards the front. The small ones are dark brown and the big ones are light brown.

Ive been curious about these for a long time. So glad i tried these out. Much better than the snap on foam rollers. The plastic ones would always snap off in my sleep and I’d have one or 2 straight strands and the rest curly!!! So annoying!! I LOVE THESE and would highly recommend! More comfortable too and you get more strong wavy curls.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents as I just used the ones I have today, and am back looking for a second set. Yes, these are velcro rollers and you have to use a little care putting them in and taking them out.

The upside is they hold in place well, and the resulting curls are bump and distortion free. You do have to take care not to put too much hair on one roller–which is why I’m back for another set. Even though my hair is not very thick or long, one set is not sufficient.

But I love that you can “heat up” the metal core with either a curling iron or blow drier after the rollers are in, and that adds a little oomph to the result. I’m no hairdresser. But these work for me to get a nice, relaxed curl with little fuss or muss.

I have a couple of silk heatless curlers that I like to use and work nicely with my long, baby fine hair, but they don’t stay in place all that well, and I feel as if I am continually adjusting them.

One is just a long cylinder that requires a large clip to anchor it at the midline and the other is the segmented type with a flat part between the two cylinders, and I use two smaller clips to anchor the flat portion near each temple.

Apparently if I had thick enough hair, I would be able to remove the clips once I had my hair rolled, up. But in my case, the roller slides out of my hair if allowed to move around. I thought these shorter individual rods might work better.

The fabric is a satin polyester so these curlers are not as soft, smooth and luxurious feeling as my silk curlers. They also don’t allow my hair to dry as quickly. The fabric is white with grey marbling + just a hint of pink which I don’t find very attractive.

In fact, I initially thought the curlers were dirty! (of course, they are not). The core is a foam rod. The curlers are closed with a snap and I guess it is just me, since no-one else has mentioned it, but I had a heck of a time getting them undone, even with the little fabric tabs to help.

One or two curlers were easy to open, but the others were so tight I didn’t think I would ever get them apart. I had to get help to get one of them out of my hair. I tried snapping and unsnapping each curler several times hoping to loosen them up, but that didn’t really work.

The curlers don’t stay in my hair very well, even when linked together, but that is probably due to how thin and fine my hair really is. I rolled my just slightly damp hair and they are comfortable enough to sleep in, but they moved down so much that the curls were just in the lower half of the length of my hair.

The curled part of my hair was not completely dry, but once I removed the curlers it dried in just a few minutes and the curls were very nice and lasted through the day (with finger combing only and some hairspray as my hair takes a curl readily but doesn’t hold it).

These might work better for someone with thicker hair than mine (and stronger fingers). The fabric is not of the best quality, and is fairly coarse, but the rollers are decently made with straight seams, and although plastic, the snaps are holding up well.

There are a few loose threads here and there. The curlers arrived nicely packaged and there are some instructions and hints for use on the back. The current price of $14. 00 seems a bit high for what they are.

This is a great curling tool! I’ve never been able to get such a nice curl before from a heat less product. It gives you beautiful modern looking curls, and the tool itself has so much flexibility. You can use it to do as tight or as loose of a curl as you want.

I used two of the strips together to form a looser curl, and this method worked for me. Another advantage to this product is how comfortable it is to sleep in. I’ve never had such a restful nights sleep with any other heatless curling method in my life except for this one.

The only thing to be careful of when using this is making sure the ends of your hair don’t get crimped. If it gets folded into the end too messily it will dry that way and cause excess frizz. Other than that, it’s a perfect product!.

I bought this on amazon because I dont want to destroy my super baby fine hair from using curling irons. Its also very time consuming for me. I washed my hair and applied curl cream and allowed to air dry a good amount and then I wrapped my hair in the octocurl.

I only had to leave it on for 1hr 1/2 and it was already curled pretty good. I absolutely love this thing!! My hair looks so voluminous and bouncy and no frizz. It was very easy to use and didn’t take hardly any time.

I was able to do it in 15 mins. I’m also very pleased with the price. Octocurl is definitely worth the $24 dollars I paid for it.

I don’t think this is a bad product, I just have others that work better. This product poses a great idea of heatless curls- I found that application of the curling device was easy enough and I was able to comfortably sleep with it on.

The disaster came when I tried to take my hair out of the curling headpiece. It really tugged at my hair and caused a lot of pain.

I have them in my hair now so update as soon as they are dry. The curlformers are $60 and while pricey they look awesome on the videos I have watched. They are easy to use so far. You divide your damp hair into 4 sections.

Take the stick that comes with it and use a mouse or a gel like cream then pull the curler through with the stick on your hair. Then you either sit for a few hours or sit under a blow dryer for 45 minutes.

Update: use the whole 8 hours. The curls are gorgeous but you have to break them up. But the curls are everything. I love this product.

Used as teen and never had hair breakage from them. NEVER could find size wanted in ANY store— finally saw on line. These are the only rollers that dont break off hair when rolling hair not wet!! Hair sets in beautiful curl in about an hour therefore I need not sleep in them.

I wear my natural hair at all times & these rollers does what I want.

I used to steal these from my Grandmother. They stay in very well. You do have to wait for your hair to dry and you look kind of like a goober wearing them, but they’re inexpensive and they do the trick.

I love it! I am a pretty restless sleeper, but it still stays put through the night. I have pretty fine, limp hair naturally. The only way I get any kind of body to my hair is blow drying or sleeping with it in a bun, which gives body but not prettiness.

Lol. I put this in the night before and my hair was like 90% dry, if it had been a little wetter I think the curls would have been tighter. It took me a few tries to get it just right- you have to be careful when you are wrapping the second side because I pulled too hard and unwrapped the side I had already wrapped, so it does take a little finesse.

I tie the two ends together at the back of my head to keep it tighter/ more secure for sleeping. It is pretty comfortable, at first I was trying to lay very “properly” if that makes sense to avoid messing it up or knocking it loose, but honestly I got tired of that and just laid normally and if it is tied securely, it should stay put.

Obviously it is not as comfortable as sleeping with nothing on your head, but waking up to curls like this is 100% worth it and I have no trouble sleeping. Low effort, no heat damage curls= WIN.

I have three young kids, so I do not have time to use a curling iron and all that bull in the mornings. I love this. It’s actually super comfy to sleep in! My husband laughs at me but idgaf – the waves are amazing so he can take his self-buzzed haircut and bite me.

When I wrap my hair, I do it like a French braid. I take a strand, wrap it around with some extra left out, then add the next strand into it and keep wrapping. I’ve found the hair stays in place better that way.

I also use a third scrunchie to hold the ends together under my chin because it stays better for sleeping. Seriously. I love this stupid looking thing!.

I’ve used this for 2 nights so far and it works nicely. The waves it produces are beautiful. I use Aegean oil on my hair at night and then put this on. I’ve seen others use hairspray or dampen their hair before using this.

You may need to find the most comfortable location on your head for it depending on whether you sleep on your side or back but, it’s cushioned and works just as well if you move it back from your ears bit.

I watched how to use it on YouTube and it was fairly easy to use. One side is coming out flatter for me but, maybe I’m doing something weird that’s causing that.

Because the rollers themselves are completely smooth, they can’t hold the hair long enough to attach the cover – advertised as magnetic – but there is nothing magnetic about the plastic. The cover fits tightly – but by the time it is attached, hair has escaped.

These rollers are excellent, they are light and easy to use without the need of pins or grips. They always give a great result.

I had never used curlers like these before and was excited to try them out on my daughter’s straight hair. The directions that came with the curlers weren’t clear or detailed enough for me to figure out how to use them, so I had to find a tutorial video online.

Perhaps photo/picture instructions would help. Once I watched the video, they were very easy to use. Half of the curlers coil clockwise (the green and purple) and half coil counterclockwise (the pink and blue) so you are supposed to use one type on one side of your head and the other type on the other side, but the directions didn’t explain that.

I tried using these curlers on my daughter’s hair (which is just past her shoulders and medium thickness) when it was dry, but they seem to work much better on damp hair. She complained that they pulled her hair sometimes as I was putting them in, but they slide on easier on damp hair.

They are easier to use and create much better curls when starting off with damp hair. I also can’t imagine how anyone could sleep in these, as the packaging suggests. They are way too bulky and lumpy.

I think using them on damp hair and drying the hair with a hair dryer or letting it air dry before removing the curlers works best. After putting the 2 pieces of the stick tool together, you slide one of the curlers all the way down onto the stick and hook a small section of hair into the hook end of the stick.

Then you pull the hair through the curler and it springs loose from the stick and stays securely around the hair. Once the hair is dry, they easily pull right out. These probably work best on hair that is shoulder length or slightly longer since the curlers aren’t too long and the ends of my daughter’s hair stuck out at the ends of the curlers if I put them in too close to her scalp.

Also, if your hair is particularly thick, the 16 curlers might not be enough to curl your entire head since you put fairly small sections of hair into each one. I don’t think I’d be able to put these in my own hair myself because it would be a little awkward, especially when trying to do the back of my head, but they are easy to put in someone else’s hair.

I would recommend these curlers to anyone looking for a quick and convenient way to curl their hair at home.

The Hot Tools Professional Long Ribbon Hair Curlers are really cool and fun to use. I myself have long hair and love to have curls on special outings. These are really simple to use. It comes with a long stick to put through the curlers and grab hair to pull your hair through.

I like the fact that they don’t have to be hot to make like spirals curls. I also love the fact that they came in a few different colors. The also are a soft material so they don’t hurt your head or pull your hair while using.

These are very innovative and really cool. I would definitely recommend these to people with long hair to have some beautiful curls with out all the hot mess.

Pro- great product. Put on damp hair for couple hours and curls were tighter than I wanted. I used 2 blue together and pink alone so to get larger curl. After I took out I slept on hair overnight and next day perfect curls.

They needed time to relax. If I wanted same day curl I would use more hair on each curler. Looked nice. Con – Package has small plastic piece covering zipper. Hard to see. Must cut off before unzipping.

I didn’t see at first and broke zipper. Returned for new set.

I have all sizes (rollers) , and I use them to prevent my hair from protecting heat using the flat iron. I will set my hair (weave) using styling foam (Göt2b Glued styling mousse) and flexi-rods during the night while asleep and hair is air drying out from the mousse.

In the morning I have beautiful curls allowing my weave to have a beautiful, first day curl as I received after my weave installment and style. I use these twice a week. The curls lasts for days. In between fexi-rod sets, I’ll pin curl my hair to maintain those curls created by the rods.

They’re comfortable to sleep in as well. I recommend these flexi-rods. I would also purchase a set of 10 due to my granddaughter playing with them and eventually losing them lol to replace. However they are available from small to very huge sizes to create big or small curls, or to create variety of size curls.

or if I don’t have enough of say large purple,large pink flexi-rods. I’d use these ,but using more hair and not rolling the hair tightly but created the same size curl as if I used the bigger sized flexi-rods.

This styling type rollers are the best. During my Junior High School days in the late 80s we had to use either those plastic rollers with the cap to secure them in place and was difficult to sleep in, or use the sponge foam rollers and use the clamp that was attached for secure in place, but always had a line within the curls.

With flexi-rods you create flawless spirals or just lovely curls that’ll hold all day long or depending on the weather; rain mists will cause the curls to fall, but in a wave pattern. I went to London England and the weather in the U.

K. has a lot of rainy/fog days. I used the flexi-rods the night before for styling for I was attending a family member funeral service. My flawless curls lasted for 4 hours, before falling into waves.

I received so many compliments. I suggest to use flexi-rods for curls and to use heated hair curling items once/twice weekly in between fexi-rod sets.

First of all, my hair is finer than baby butt hair, naturally straight, and very silky. It also isn’t thick so I usually curl it to give it some volume and life, but as all girls with fine hair know, heat is especially hard on our locks.

So these flexible rollers were exactly what I was looking for. I put them in my hair on wash day, usually after my hair has air dried with mousse (the curls don’t form for me unless there is some sort of mousse or gel in my hair).

Around bedtime, I just spray large sections lightly with water as I wrap my hair around them. These take a while to dry so I leave them in over night. They aren’t too uncomfortable to sleep in, and I make sure to part my hair in the back and arrange the rollers so that there aren’t any on the very back so that there is at least one sleeping position where you aren’t laying directly on them.

Also, a super fluffy down pillow helps make it easier to sleep with them. The curls are incredibly tight when I first take them out in the morning, but I let them settle while I do morning skincare/makeup/get dressed.

Then I spray them with an ultra fine mist hair spray and flip them around to help them settle naturally and they’re done! These curls stay in my hair as long as ones that I use heat tools to achieve without too much difference in the final style.

I think you have less control over what they end up looking like, but I’m okay with that. I wash my hair two to three times a week and use these almost every time. They are definitely part of my routine now.

They are really easy to learn how to use and they don’t take long at all, it takes me less then fifteen minutes to do my whole head. I love these curling rods and will definitely replace them when they wear out!.

These are a great tool and the perfect alternative to the hot curling irons usually needed for the “long curl” look that’s so popular. I bought three sets for my 11 and 12 year old granddaughters and they love them! My sister and I are hair stylists and recommend them to our clients who have younger kids who are discovering new hair styles.

Do give my hair more volume! Need much less product in my hair–just spray before setting each curler , and go! My hair does look shinier–it’s soft and bouncy and my highlights are accented more. Carrying case is great for storing curlers and clips, and travel.

Tip: I leave my curlers in a lo-o-o-ng time–once as long as 2 hours after shampooing and blow drying! The curl does get tighter with extended time, but the heat goes away after 15 mins or so–so does not hurt hair.

Cons: One of the dots fell off after a week of use You have to dig the clips into your scalp to get them to stay. The clips seem cheap and breakable. The curlers are heavy in fine hair. Curlers DO get HOT HOT if you don’t grab them right off the post as soon as the dot turns white.

However, they did not burn my scalp. Lots of compliments on my hair since first using these curlers!.

Pluses: Very well made and heats up in just a few minutes. You can put in the rollers, do your makeup or other task for a few minutes, and have curls that last. My hair is fine and straight, so curls aren’t easy to achieve with other brands of hot rollers.

Using these rollers has cut my hair styling time by 10-15 minutes, and with better results. Minuses: The clips are barely sturdy enough to hold in the larger rollers. I may try using two clips to see if that helps.

The rollers get hot enough to be uncomfortable on the scalp in some places (my hair is thin), so I tuck a tissue under the roller if needed and that works fine.
