20 Best No Bite Nail Polish (2023 Updated)

I have been battling my son’s nail biting habit for years, but this product has deterred him from biting his nail for a month now and I could see the nails growing back , which were left to bare skin before.

Once the nail coats are applied, you can’t eat with hands or lick fingers. It’s best to use cutlery, else you will get the bitter taste. The only concern is hope the solution is really non toxic as it says on the packaging, as it will get in your mouth without you knowing it.

This is the only method that has helped my son so far. Follow exactly as it says on instructions and apply every 2 days. I have stopped using it after 2 weeks, but am ready to use it again if I see any signs of bitting.

Works well, tastes terrible. The only bad thing about this item, is it starts coming off from being under hot water for a long time. Still totally worth it, would recommend.

This is a neutral review. I think it’s wrong to blame la product like this if you don’t successfully stop biting ur nails after using this. This isn’t the real problem. Truly take the time to ask yourself why you are biting your nails in the first place.

I used to tell myself, “idk, out of boredom probably. ” Which actually meant, “I might have an idea but I’m genuinely unsure and avoiding wanting to find out bc it could be an issue I’m not ready to face or deal with right now.

” It’s a bad habit you formed yourself over time. something that started off harmless then progressively got worse until you realize it’s a problem. Mind over matter— especially when they’re self-soothing bad habits.

You either consciously or subconsciously, but nonetheless still trained yourself into doing it, which means you can absolutely train yourself to reverse/stop the habit. Might sound cheesy but it’s true— Don’t underestimate your power and strength.

I bought this for my husband who chews his nails so badly that he is in constant pain. During high stress times it’s worse so with the pandemic and political unrest and all of the stresses in the world, he’d reached a point where we needed a solution fast.

We gave this a shot and within a couple of weeks of constant use, he has nails that come to the end of his natural mail bed, and almost a little extra!! He is proudly showing me his nail growth progress every day and I’m proud that he has been diligent about reapplying this as often as needed.

I tried it out myself despite not really needing it, and I must say, this WILL train you to keep your fingers out of your mouth! Great training tool for adults and kiddos who need an extra reminder (especially during COVID times) to keep hands away from your mouth— the bitterness is truly day-ruining and a great deterrent! It’s potent and lasts as long as the polish does, but of course this chips and flakes off like any other regular clear polish, so it’s important to remove and reapply every few days until the habit is broken.

This will take diligence, patience and hard work, so not a miracle cure, but a great tool for those willing to put in the effort. I love that it’s clear so my husband doesn’t think twice about wearing this on his hands, but it does make it tough to tell where it’s been applied and where it needs reapplying.

You just have to get into a routine with it.

I always love having my nails on my hands and feet on point and looking beautiful. But my son on the other hand just loves biting his nails and cuticles until they are just raw and bleeding. Seeing this I just had to intervene and get him the Orly No Bite 0.

3oz. I explained to him that most women when meeting a man almost always look at a mans teeth, nails and overall grooming. I told his that the Orly No Bite, would not only get him to stop putting his fingers in his mouth but would also help him stop his nail biting.

Of course he was definitely hesitant at first, but did not like the idea of having to “polish” his nails. But I just pushed him along. AMAZING!!! My daughter has been a nail biter for over 8 years!!! Her anxiety has gotten the best of her and left her hands looking haggard and just HORRIBLE. I tried no bite, cayenne pepper, lemon, vinegar, even the dentist provided a $50 no bite nail solution.

The reason I gave 4 stars thus far is because I have not had it long enough to see long term progress. Bought this for my 4 year old son whom bites his nails to the quick. I believe the habit has also caused infections in his mouth.

I applied it and and as soon as he put his hand in his mouth he cried “Mommy it’s nasty!!!” We had a good no nail biting day lol. The product dries quickly (almost instantly). I could see the one bottle lasting for quite a while.

I bought this on the basis of reviews. I have been a nail biter for most of my life from teenage onward. I am now in my low 70’s. Often I bit down to the quick and sometimes my fingers bled because of it.

I have tried many preparations, as well as having fake nails applied to help me let my nails grow. No success beyond a few weeks. I did manage to stop biting the fingers on my right hand a few years ago but it was hard to stop biting my left.

Then I found this and applied it first near the end of September 2022. Now it is the first week of November and my nails are growing nicely. I often bit them to the quick, but now there is 3mm of free nail on each finger.

I don’t know why some found it did not work. What I found is that the liquid dries really fast, faster than nail polish. But you have to be careful when handling food etc because the nasty taste seems to transfer to it if it touches the food.

It is not impossible to deal with but it is a really nasty taste that I want to avoid. I think if you are determined to stop biting, this will work as a great assistant. But it needs you to be determined.

First off: I’m not giving this 5 stars because we loved it. My 12 year old daughter gnaws her nails to nothing and I found this product on Amazon. She was excited to try it, and she hated it. She didn’t leave it on for one night.

I’m giving this 5 stars because it is exactly as described, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. I tried it myself on my pinky nail. The taste is chemical and bitter and hangs in the back of your throat.

She said she “couldn’t sleep” after getting the taste in her mouth and couldn’t hang. It’s effective. Nasty, but effective. Rinsing your mouth helps, but it hangs in there. Personally I’d use it happily if I had a nail-biting problem.

It also has a pretty, glossy sheen, but seems like it’d scrape off fairly easily if you can’t stop cannibalizing yourself. I can see this being a remarkable tool for thumb-suckers and for those of you that can tolerate some punishment in the form of the nastiest, most bitter funk that has ever been crafted into nail polish form.

Tastes like ass, but it’s spot on for what it is. If your little one (mine is old enough that I can’t very well force her to use this), had a thumb-sucking issue, or you, the adult, can’t keep your chewed up snags out ya mouth, give this a go.

I’ve been a nail biter for as long as I can remember (probably almost 20 years). This is the only thing that has worked in deterring me from biting. The taste is awful but the really effective part is that the taste lingers.

I’m on my second bottle and I’m actually having to cut and file my nails nowadays and it’s an amazing feeling and it’s thanks to this!! The only thing that i could complain about is that it does require reapplication maybe every other day or so but I don’t find that to be too difficult.

Y’all this product works too good, I’ve been biting my nails since very little due to anxiety and stress, and could never grow them out to do cute stuff with them. I bought this at a 5 below after wanting to try it for a while and it works crazy good, however, you will never want to put your fingers in your mouth ever again cause this stuff is nasty! So forget eating hotdogs, pizza, wings, other finger foods since you’ll be basically tasting the polish.

I’ll end it with the takeaways, this will be the best thing to stop you from biting them nails and also avoid licking your fingers(so a bonus on manners) and it leaves a nice gloss on top of your regular polish!.

My mom and I were sick of my kids either biting their nails or touching their mouth CONSTANTLY with their fingers! (I have 1 biter and 1 face toucher) Applied the product (told them what I was doing of course as I’m not evil and sick!) My mom took my 9 year old to soccer practice and watched from the sidelines until my daughter ran up and said, “What is the active ingredient in this? Poop? Because that is what it tastes like!” My mom smiled and sat back and watched as her fingers slowly inched to her mouth and quickly retreated 🙂 My other daughter “claims” she didn’t need it (she’s NOT a nail biter, but does put her fingers to her lips to pick away.

My 4 year old has been sucking her thumb since she was a few weeks old. We assumed we could break the habit as she got older but it has just gotten worse. We tried a variety of strategies including wearing gloves, verbal praise when she wasn’t sucking thumb, a coin reward system, punishment (ie turning off TV/movie if sucking her thumb).

I swore I would never use hot sauce or something like this but her teeth are definitely being pushed inward because of it so I was feeling desperate. I researched several products and for the price and results, I 100% recommend this and wish I had tried it sooner.

We put it on her Sunday afternoon and she sucked her thumb twice that afternoon but hasn’t sucked her thumb in 2 days. I know that doesnt sound like much but she sucks her thumb anytime her hands are idle and we probably ask her at least 50 times a day to take her thumb out.

My experience: I often don’t like doing my own manis as I find that even with base top coat, regular Polish doesn’t last more than a day for me before chipping. Wow have I been pleasantly surprised. This is a buttery, creamy nail polish formula.

It glides on beautifully is easy to apply. Chuffed to bits is a gorgeous opaque periwinkle blue color that is well pigmented. I applied two even coats a top coat noticed full color opacity. I’ve been wearing these for a few days have noticed minimal to no chipping.

This is a huge win for me as I always get angry with chipped nails after one day of wear. Overall: I’m in LOVE with this londontown lakur! I always have a hard time maintaining at home manis because they chip so easily but not this one.

It’s a clean formula, long wearing, beautifully pigmented nail polish. Retails for $16 which is pricy but we’ll worth the investment when it’s hard to find long lasting polish. 5/5.

This was my first bottle of Londontown fingernail polish. I was very disappointed with Honeymoon Lakur. The picture of it was a beautiful shade of pink, as shone in the picture of it attached to this review.

What came in the bottle appeared to be lilac but when I put it on my nails it was GRAY with bluish tinge. Also, the Lakur did not spread well. The second coat gummed up and was very splotchy leaving some areas of the nail unpainted.

I think something was wrong with the formulation used for this batch as there have been so many good reviews of your fingernail polishes. I did purchase your Duplex Base & Top coat with the purchase of Honeymoon and it smoothed out the the shoddy two coat color application of the Honeymoon Lakur.

I have purchased your nail cream, Kur Remover as well and I am very pleased with them. However, I feel the Honeymoon polish Lakur was mislabled and was not properly prepared. I do feel a corrected bottle of Honeymoon should be sent to me.

I have bitten my fingernails until they bleed for over 45 years. I have tried everything including medication and 15 years of yoga. Finally I did a Vipassana retreat. (Look it up) That helped me enough to enable treatments like this to actually work but you need to do 3 things: 1.

Do a Vipassana retreat. Its free and amazingly powerful. 2. Identify the precursor behaviours to biting. For me it was using my fingers to feel the fingernail edges looking for rough spots. Then I would bite them.

I had to practice stopping that behaviour and this helped me reduce my biting. I carried a smooth grade fingernail file at all times and used that whenever I found myself feeling the ends of my fingernails for rough bits to bite.

Onychophagia (nail biting) is a psychological condition centered around a lack of impulse control and anxiety. Its now in the DSMV manual for psychological conditions and it is treatable and curable.

3. Finally if you do the first two then buy this product and for the first month at least use it everyday. There are only two good products of this type on the market. Mavala and Bye Bite. Both are similar and work the same and will make the difference in the end.

These products dry out the cuticle and skin around the nail and unless you also use some hand moisturiser you will start biting that skin instead. Also put it on after you eat breakfast and floss or you will have it in your mouth all morning.

Not at night because it is weaker by the morning and you will get it in your mouth at breakfast. If necessary also buy some cheap clear thin plastic disposable sandwich making kitchen gloves so when you cook or eat with your fingers you wont get it on your food or in your mouth.

So far I have white ends on 8 out of 10 fingers after four weeks and have had to cut and file them for the first time. Good luck. Andrew.

This product is definitely effective! I used it to help me stop biting my nails. It tastes horrible- like bitter acidic soap. I definitely did not want to put my fingers in my mouth and if I accidentally did I would know it for a good 15 minutes after.

It does have a rather glossy finish which I like because it gives a clean polished look but might not be everyone’s cup of tea. My one negative is that the cap gathered a lot of product inside of it and eventually became dried out and stuck shut.

I had to use hot water to loosen it up enough to open.

Our little thumb sucker said she wanted to stop as she started losing her baby teeth (she is 5 3/4 years old). Shes been sucking her thumb in utero (when she was in my tummy)! With the help of this product she stopped within a couple of weeks! Expect that your child will be grumpy when they are in the process to stop thumb sucking and theyll be grumpy afterwards too; they are losing their comforter!! Be super kind to them, super patient with them, praise them lots and give lots of cuddles, tell them they can do it, and that they are doing well! I have symmetrical OCD which manifests in my being a habitual nail biter. I have never had long, natural nails. I saw an ad for Dermelect and checked out their site. I’ve used RESIST since January 2021.

I only used it for a few weeks before beginning to use their Nail Remedy treatments. I haven’t bitten a single nail since January 14th. How this product inhibited a decades long issue is beyond me, but it works.

Lifelong naul biter and I have tried many anti biting products. It has a nice shine and a bad taste to discourage biting. It is not as tough as some products that mess it the taste of the food if you touch it.

Think it can be useful in breaking the habit if you can get through the time period to break a bad habit.

Resist tastes awful, is long-lasting and was just what I needed to stop mindlessly chewing on my nails while watching TV. My nails have grown so well that I can proudly wear colored lacquer again. (I gave a bottle to my brother who is also a chewer, his nails are improving too!).

I have been using Trind nail repair on and off since I was a teenager. It really works! Especially helpful when I use nail polish often and my nails turn more brittle than they already are. Since I have only been wearing nude sheer polishes the past years, I wanted to try this pink edition of nail repair.

I’m not blown away by the look of it and it’s not as pretty as my Essie sheer nude/pink colors but it’s not terrible either. I use a thin layer otherwise it can get streaky. Btw it’s a very light/pale pink color, but if you apply it thinly it’s very sheer.

Trind Nail repair is the only product that has allowed my nails to grow to any length. The only problem? They grow out so nice that I get lazy and dont use it – back to square one ‍️!

Such a great product for brittle and weak nails! transformed my nails completely whitin the first few weeks. Recommend it!

I tried out six different nail polishes from ella+mila: a white, an orange, a yellow (this one!), a pink, a purple, and a blue. Of the lot, the pink and the yellow went on super thin. The other polishes only needed 1-2 coats, but the yellow and pink needed at least 2 (if you are applying a white coat on the bottom) or 3-4 (if you are applying directly to the nail).

If you apply a white coat: the yellow is vivid and beautiful, just as pictured. However, it is matte, so you will need a glossy clear top-coat to make your fingernails look like the picture. If you don’t apply a white coat: the yellow will be more.

banana pudding. Like, it’s pretty banana pudding in the first place even with the white, but it’s even more banana pudding now. And you have to add multiple, multiple layers. We used 3 and wished we had time for 4 because, seriously, this nail polish is the thinnest I have ever used.

Trying shaking the bottle between each coat, because that seems to help it thicken a little. Once again, it is matte, so you will need a glossy clear top-coat to make your fingernails even remotely look like the picture provided.

Regardless of which method you choose, you will need multiple coats, and you will need to wait 20-min between each coat, or the yellow will streak and remove nail polish below it or mix with the white nail polish (if you didn’t wait 20-min) into this weird tie-die effect.

This is frustrating because this yellow requires you to add so many layers. One positive: It’s been several days since we’ve painted our nails, and the yellow is one of the few that hasn’t chipped yet.

You can’t go wrong with Ella and Mika and this polish is no exception. I love that Ella and Mika is completely vegan and cruelty free. Their products are also very top quality. This polish has a really good clear base so you can put a light coating on for just a little sparkle.

You can also put on multiple coats to really dazzle things up. It also looks very pretty when you apply it over other colors because every color of the rainbow is in the polish. I have even put it on as a top coat on nail stickers.

I am reviewing the color ‘Nightdream’ I love the deep red hue of this color nail polish. It reminds me of a blood red,which I love! It has a nice wide brush that glides over nails in 2 swipes. I had to do 2 coats because it wasn’t good enough for me with just 1 coat.

This isn’t the actual color I’m reviewing I couldn’t find the tag for it. But they look similar. The one I have is Gaia. It’s more red/orange/with brown tones. I’ve noticed the color is very popular in style at the moment, especially in the lipstick category.

It’s truly really pretty, the picture doesn’t exactly do it justice. Overall this brand the color exceeded my expectations— I didn’t think I was going to even like it. But the exact opposite happened!! I’m in love.

It glides on nicely, so easy to use, you also can just use one coat, it covers, or it can be built up with more coats. I did 4 coats because I wanted to see if it would dry or how long it would take.

Yes it did dry and amazingly enough only took 1minute under the nail lamp/dryer. I am going to go check out more colors. I hope the price tag won’t break my bank. 😅 I received this one in my Ipsy subscription box.

Best base coat ever. Fight me. I use a nail-strengthening base coat and then this one on top. It fills all ridges on my nails and makes my polish go so nicely on top of my nails. Looks like a professional did my polish.

This is the perfect polish/shade for a your nails but better look. It looks so natural, almost undetectable, but enhances your fingernails, much like a filter does on social media platforms. I can’t speak to the effectiveness of it as a treatment, but it does fill ridges and provide a nice matte canvas for polish, if desired.

I may be late to the OPI Mexico City Collection’s Spring 2020 release, but at least I finally found that rad yellow creme! With my pale, pink-toned skin, finding a yellow that is saturated without leaning too dark, pastel, or neon — AND has a 3-coat (or less) formula — is a real challenge.

I got my hands on this color after stumbling into an Amazon sale (the “Buy at least $20 worth of these selected items, get $5 off” kind? It was the first time I tried it out!) where a few of the OPI Mexico City colors were included.

I had heard about this color for a while, and watched nail polish swatchers on YouTube include it in their side-by-side yellow polish comparisons every season, but I could never find it in-stock at a reasonable shipping rate until that sale.

Score! As you can see from my photo, it’s a slightly lighter yellow, but it works like a standard yellow on my fair skin when compared to darker shades. It pops in just the right way! Plus, its formula is 3 coats maximum for full opacity, which is hard to achieve with yellow polish at any price point.

(Don’t you hate it when a color of polish is sold as the brand’s “standard primary color,” only to find out it takes 4 or 5 streaky coats to achieve that color? So many polish brands do that with yellow and white, even at the salon level.

No, thank you!) I’ve been in in a real yellow mood this summer, so I’m so happy to find a great color that works for me in 3 coats and doesn’t chip easily after a few days!.

Firstly: I will start by saying that, I have used this top coat (religiously), for probably 10 (ish) years, and don’t plan to stop! Secondly: This top coat is pretty amazing (in my eyes) in just about all areas.

It is one of the few top coats I have used that dries PROPERLY, and in a pleasantly quick amount of time. It’s kind of like mani-magic, if you ask me! I am also a fan of the fact that, you don’t need a large amount of this polish to get full coverage, which makes one bottle go a long way! Thirdly: I use this a lot just on my plain natural nails, but when I use it as a top coat over a colored polish, I am able to apply it without the base polish being 100% dry.

and it doesn’t at all affect or ruin anything! Which is great for someone who is impatient, like myself 😂. It also seems to have a big impact on the base polish (that take forever to dry) by speeding up the entire drying time as well as lessening the chances of the smudges that happen when you over-trust the appropriate dryness of the polish.

Fourthly: One small issue I do have, though. if you use too much (or more than two coats), especially over base polishes, it can easily peel off. and always at the most convenient times! (NOT!) Other than that, I pretty much always love the results.

I’m a big fan of OPI nail polishes. Yes, they do cost more than some other brands; but I find the OPI polish lasts longer on my nails vs some of the cheaper brands. Recently purchased Bubble Bath, and I love the color.

I think it would look great on most skin tones. My only complaint (but not a deal breaker) is that it takes around 3-4 coats to get the color shown in the pictures. One coat comes across as a pretty sheer pink, and I still wasn’t completely satisfied using two coats (which is what I typically use for other colors).

Would definitely recommend though.

It can work! I say can, because my son wanted to break the habit but didn’t have the tool to help remind him when he absent-mindedly nite his nails. So he agreed to get help by applying Mavala on his nails.

Initially, the product has to be applied every two-three days. I kept monitoring and my son will tell me if it started to wear off for reapplication. After about 3-4 weeks (this would varies for individuals), my son has broken the habit! Hurray!.

I bought Mavala Stop at my local Ulta after noticing that my two year old daughter was beginning to bite her nails. A former nail-biter myself, I wouldn’t wish this awful habit on anyone. I tested this product on myself before applying it to my daughter’s nails, and WOW.

it’s disgusting and the flavor lingered in my mouth for 10+ minutes after licking my nail. My daughter was pretty persistent with trying to continue biting her nails after I applied this, but she eventually stopped putting her nails in her mouth 4-5 days after I started applying it.

It’s been a week since I bought this product, and I haven’t seen her bite for 2 days. I ended up applying every night before bed due to her persistence, even though the product says to apply every other day.

I can see why Mavala Stop is not recommended for kids under 3. My daughter still eats with her fingers and had difficulty trying to eat with this on her nails. She was pretty upset, and I ended up having to revert back to feeding her myself for quite a few meals.

I plan to re-apply every few days for the next few weeks to make sure this habit doesn’t come back. She even asks for her “mani” these days (which is just me applying this bitter nastiness to her nails.

My son sucks his thumb so bad that we have spent 4000$ on appliances because of the damage he’s done to his teeth. Our next step is braces but because the habit is so bad they refuse until he stops sucking his thumb.

I got this product to try I mean 12 bucks is not to bad. Wow has this stuff helped he can’t stand the taste. As long as it’s on he will not get his thumb anywhere close to his mouth. I highly recommend!.

I can not fully describe my love for this polish but I will try to lol. I refuse to wear anything else. 1. The shade is amazing. It’s sheer but with two coats you get a beautiful clear/pinky color that gives your nails a beautiful healthy tint.

2. The formula is nice and thin but not runny. It layers beautifully. Has a decently dry down time. And it’s water permeable, meaning water can penetrate it. (I’m Muslim and its important that water be able to touch every part of our hands nails when washing our hands) 3.

It wears a lot better than most other polishes I used to wear. I can go a week with no chips. (I wear gloves when cooking washing dishes though) 4. It’s just beautiful. It’s so classy and pretty. It gives you a clean polished look and can go with anything.

I actually purchased the “don’t leaf me hanging” color which is olive green, but I’m assuming this is newer since it’s not an option. This color is incredible, very fall-worthy as well as Christmas-y.

The bottle lid is great for application due to the grip, and the formulation of this polish spreads smoothly, all making for great application. Two coats was more than enough for coverage. I have found this product can be an easier chipper, but I’m pretty tough on my hands/nails.

This polish came off my skin super easy as well. I’d definitely purchase this brand again!.

I actually purchased the breathable color Cherry Bomb, buuuut that wasn’t an option to select! Cherry Bomb is a bright, true red shade that I can see working for a wide range of skin tones because it isn’t too orange or too blue of a red.

Fair, medium deep skin tones will all wear this shade well and because this formula is breathable, it is halal too! Because it is so vibrant, this will be a fabulous summer red, but it’s vintage-looking enough to wear in other seasons as well.

Think classic pinup red, but with more spirit! The formula applies evenly and is very pigmented, and it dries down quickly to a glossy finish. Because this is such a strong color, I did have some staining after removal but IMO this shade is worth it.

This color gives me life!.

This product is my favorite. This product really does work, and has been helping me stop my nasty nail-biting habits! For those of you curious of the taste, this products tastes like very strong nail polish.

It tastes almost similar to nail polish remover (if anyone even knows what that tastes like haha). I’ve noticed other reviewers don’t mention the taste, so I hope that helps other customers! The biggest concern I have for this product is what has already been said – the taste of this product simply doesn’t stay for very long.

This is no issue to me, I simply apply it on everyday like routine which is why I’m not too particularly bothered by this con. However, I do wash my hands often and this causes the product to eventually wear off within one day of use.

So for people like me who must be clean at all times, expect to apply this deterrent every single morning. Otherwise, you would expect this product to stay for 2~3 days before having to apply it again.

However, this product does fulfill its purpose and my nails have started to grow in! I’m very happy with my results! :).

If I could give this 10 stars, I would! My husband and my son are both nail biters we found this and began using it right away. Within a week my husband’s cuticles were all healed and healthy. My son’s nails were finally growing!! It was awesome!! It’s helped them break their nasty habit!! Highly recommend.

Im not sure if this is a kid safe product but we have used it with our child and never had any issues. The taste is AWFUL! Advice* don’t eat with your hands after applying this and definitely be prepared to reapply 1-2x through the day.

The thin formula is easy to apply to the nail, and even looks quite nice alone for a natural manicured look. The brush is nice and wide, making it easy to get big even strokes on the nail. It also dries within only 5 or so minutes! Once dry, polishes from any brand layer on beautifully.

It also can be layered on in order to help fill nail ridges, bumps, or what-have you. The base also has a very very light reddish tint which helps neutralize any yellow staining from heavy polish use.

PRO TIP: Be sure to paint the tips of your nails, brushing it perpendicular to the front tip of your nail. my polish lasts three weeks and never chips from my fingertips because of this (for topcoat, use Poshe – it is hands down the best.
