Best Neutral Opi Gel Colors (2024 Updated)

I may be late to the OPI Mexico City Collection’s Spring 2020 release, but at least I finally found that rad yellow creme! With my pale, pink-toned skin, finding a yellow that is saturated without leaning too dark, pastel, or neon — AND has a 3-coat (or less) formula — is a real challenge.

I got my hands on this color after stumbling into an Amazon sale (the “Buy at least $20 worth of these selected items, get $5 off” kind? It was the first time I tried it out!) where a few of the OPI Mexico City colors were included.

I had heard about this color for a while, and watched nail polish swatchers on YouTube include it in their side-by-side yellow polish comparisons every season, but I could never find it in-stock at a reasonable shipping rate until that sale.

Score! As you can see from my photo, it’s a slightly lighter yellow, but it works like a standard yellow on my fair skin when compared to darker shades. It pops in just the right way! Plus, its formula is 3 coats maximum for full opacity, which is hard to achieve with yellow polish at any price point.

(Don’t you hate it when a color of polish is sold as the brand’s “standard primary color,” only to find out it takes 4 or 5 streaky coats to achieve that color? So many polish brands do that with yellow and white, even at the salon level.

No, thank you!) I’ve been in in a real yellow mood this summer, so I’m so happy to find a great color that works for me in 3 coats and doesn’t chip easily after a few days!.

Firstly: I will start by saying that, I have used this top coat (religiously), for probably 10 (ish) years, and don’t plan to stop! Secondly: This top coat is pretty amazing (in my eyes) in just about all areas.

It is one of the few top coats I have used that dries PROPERLY, and in a pleasantly quick amount of time. It’s kind of like mani-magic, if you ask me! I am also a fan of the fact that, you don’t need a large amount of this polish to get full coverage, which makes one bottle go a long way! Thirdly: I use this a lot just on my plain natural nails, but when I use it as a top coat over a colored polish, I am able to apply it without the base polish being 100% dry.

and it doesn’t at all affect or ruin anything! Which is great for someone who is impatient, like myself 😂. It also seems to have a big impact on the base polish (that take forever to dry) by speeding up the entire drying time as well as lessening the chances of the smudges that happen when you over-trust the appropriate dryness of the polish.

Fourthly: One small issue I do have, though. if you use too much (or more than two coats), especially over base polishes, it can easily peel off. and always at the most convenient times! (NOT!) Other than that, I pretty much always love the results.

I’m a big fan of OPI nail polishes. Yes, they do cost more than some other brands; but I find the OPI polish lasts longer on my nails vs some of the cheaper brands. Recently purchased Bubble Bath, and I love the color.

I think it would look great on most skin tones. My only complaint (but not a deal breaker) is that it takes around 3-4 coats to get the color shown in the pictures. One coat comes across as a pretty sheer pink, and I still wasn’t completely satisfied using two coats (which is what I typically use for other colors).

Would definitely recommend though.

I am so shocked to see so many reviewers saying this doesn’t work for them. I guess I’m very fortunate. I have NEVER found a polish or acrylic that works for me until this one. Polish usually chips within 24 hrs and acrylics lift within 7 days.

I had a nail technician tell me it’s because I have very oily nail beds. But the OPI Infinite Shine system has done wonders for my nails! I’m terribly impatient and usually have a hard time sitting still until polish dries.

This dries so quickly it’s never a problem. I can do my fingers and toes an hour before bed and wake up to shiny nails with no sheet marks at all. I can easily go a week on my fingers and 3 weeks on my toes without needing any touch ups at all.

When I do have a little wear on the tips I just use a very fine grit buffing block and knock the shine off, put a new coat of polish on over the existing polish and top off with the top coat and it looks like I have a brand new manicure! I will also say this is the most forgiving top coat I’ve ever used.

If I accidentally touch the polish and have a little smudge the top coat smoothes it right out. It also gives my nails strength. It’s nothing for me to break a couple of nails a day when not wearing polish.

With this I rarely break a nail. My favorite nail product of all time!.

Based on the reviews of Rosy Future OPI nail lacquer I was excited and looking forward to receiving my new nail polish. Wow! What a shock it turned out to be. One coat looked good and I should have stopped right there.

Thinking it would look even better with two coats I eagerly added a second as it was easy to apply. One coat gave a beautiful sheer iridescent shimmering look. Adding a second coat gave me neon nails that resembled fluorescent lights.

I will continue to use the Rosy Future but only one coat. I am disappointed because I think a manicure with two coats of polish lasts longer. But, the look with one coat is acceptable with top coat layers.

This polish is not the winner that I expected but at the same time it is not a total loss either. I would recommend the Rosy Future because of its versatility. For those who like a sheer iridescent look it’s a winner.

For those who like neon nails it’s also a winner. Enjoy your new nail polish! The pictures show two coats of polish but do not depict how bright the color really is. 8-14-21 UPDATE: The more I use Rosy Future the more I like it.

I have been using it for 2 years now. It has become my favorite light-neutral pink.

Incentivized for the Opi infinite shine campaign on #influenster through #Ulta. com. I was glad to find all the shades I was looking for through the Ulta. com app but had a hiccup with customer service I had never encountered before that got me a little ruffled.

It was quickly shipped but with excessively poor packing that damaged the chrome paint on the bottles. Which I am fortunate was the only issue cause the way they packed it could easily have broken everything in it.

To which I wrote CS and they did not seem to care. So I expect nothing will change. I am not real happy with the downside I have seen shipping and handling customer care from Ulta lately. Onto the actual polish.

It’s a lovely shade of light pink with no nude/ brown town to it. Just above ballet slipper. Though it looked a little more watery than I prefer, it did not run at all and I had good control with each layer.

I tried a thin on and a thicker one to check coverage. You can get good coverage with one layer done thickly. If that is your preference. Dry time isn’t to long, either. By the time you get through coat one, you may be ready to do coat two.

It’s not matte or satin but not a super shiny color either. Just a pretty petal pink for spring.

I’ve always been a big fan of purples, so I’m so glad that they’re back on-trend at last. This duo is gorgeous – two subtly holographic shades perfect for A/W, and I’d also wear the lighter one in the summer.

The brush is brilliant and although it initially looks square, it fans out and gives me a perfect cuticle line. If you read some of my other reviews for nail varnish, you’ll see that I favoured Nails Inc for a long time, but it was always chipping after only a day – I thought it was me! I started using my OPI varnishes again and now get about 5 days’ wear with no chipping and no top coat reapplication, that includes a weekly session of netball! On some colours, the first coat looks a bit wishy-washy, but once the second coat is applied, you get perfect coverage that lasts.

I’ve now come back to OPI with a vengeance and have gifted or returned (sorry QVC) all my Nails Inc sets. I’m sticking to OPI from now on.

This nail file is awesome! I don’t think I’ll ever go back to regular nail files. I used to use the regular revlon nail files but I wanted something a little nicer. I bought this a year ago and it’s still holding up! I’ve heard that crystal/glass files do eventually break down but a file lasting this long is amazing! I find that it files much smoother and easier.

It doesn’t wear down and unlike regular nail files or Emery boards you can use it over and over. The only two things are that sometimes if you go back and forth (which I know you shouldn’t, but. ) it can catch and be a little painful or weird feeling.

TIP: Wash with a little soapy water then lay dry outside of it’s tube in between uses or every couple of uses. The file is super porous and bacteria can get trapped leaving it to smell very strongly of vomit.

Only real downside. It’s an extra step I take just to keep the file nice and avoid putting old bacteria on my nails. I figure if I treat it nice, it’ll treat me nice.

OPI is my go to nail polish when I do my own nails at home. The color options are fantastic and this shade Throw Me a Kiss is so pretty. You have to see this shade in person. It’s an iridescent light pink.

I tested it without a base coat so even with three coats I can still see the whites of my nail underneath. Next time I try this I will put a base coat underneath. I work with my hands everyday and nail polish does tend to chip pretty easily for me.

I tried this without a top coat and it did chip within 2 days. I also did try it with the OPI top coat and it did last about 5 days for me which is great. I love changing up my nail colors especially in the spring and summer and I do recommend this shade.

It is neutral and goes with everything, but also has that shine that gives it that little extra touch of being different.

The thin formula is easy to apply to the nail, and even looks quite nice alone for a natural manicured look. The brush is nice and wide, making it easy to get big even strokes on the nail. It also dries within only 5 or so minutes! Once dry, polishes from any brand layer on beautifully.

It also can be layered on in order to help fill nail ridges, bumps, or what-have you. The base also has a very very light reddish tint which helps neutralize any yellow staining from heavy polish use.

PRO TIP: Be sure to paint the tips of your nails, brushing it perpendicular to the front tip of your nail. my polish lasts three weeks and never chips from my fingertips because of this (for topcoat, use Poshe – it is hands down the best.

).

This polish on Ulta’s website is described as a pearlescent pink polish with a light pink base and pearlescent shimmer. To me this is a very light springy pink that is translucent so you can see a color variation between where your nail is white and where it is pink and it has lots of silver glitter in it.

The effect isn’t bad but I personally dislike having polish be transparent enough to see that difference. If that doesn’t bother you it applied evenly and it took two coats to get the true effect with my shorter nails.

I will note that the polish in spite of 15 minute dry times with each layer did dent easily. It lasted an average amount of time compared with other big name polish brands like Sally Hansen or Zoya and independent makers.

But for $13 I don’t think it’s worth the money, since you could get a polish that is stunning for that much money with the same application and wear time.

So these opi infinite shine polishes are suppose to be used in a 3 step system to make them last longer on the nails. You prime, polish, and then finish off with the top coat. I ended up buying the the primer and top coat.

The color I bought was pixel dust. It was a beautiful pink shimmer that looked almost metallic on the nails. The polish was easy to apply and dried pretty quickly. The claims are that if use use this polish with the base and top coat it will stay on your nails for up to 11 days.

I did not find this to be a case. After a couple days, my nails started to chip like usual. In all fairness though , I wash my hands several times a day which can cause polish to chip faster. I didn’t find it to chip any faster than any other brand of polish I have used.

Regardless of the chipping, I will continue to use and probably end up buying more colors.

I’d like to preface by saying that I almost exclusively buy OPI polishes. I really like the idea behind the XBox collab: women in gaming. The shade I picked up was Pixel Dust and I had no idea what I was getting into when I ordered it online.

This nail polish is so sparkly and metallic it is almost unreal. The first day I had my nails painted, I was already getting compliments on the color. Just like all other OPI polishes, the wand has a wide brush which I like.

The only thing that I dislike about this polish is that there is so much glitter that my nail still feels textured after I put 2 topcoats on.

I’ve used OPI products since I was a little girl. It’s long been a favorite nail care brand of my mother’s. She went through many years where she would only wear I’m not really a waitress, I still associate that color with that ideal woman we always wanted to be when we grew up.

So, when I was offered to participate in this cashback campaign, even though I had never used any of the infinite shine products, I knew I would love it. It’s even better than I thought!!! Alpine Snow is an old favorite color of mine but the blue color: To Be Continued is new to me.

TBC is a beautiful light baby blue that is mesmerizing! It would work in literally every season and I do think it would be beautiful on most skin tones. The OPI formula has always been a winner. Opaque in 2 coats, dries fairly quickly, and I’m really loving how shiny these are even before a top coat! 10/10 definitely would recommend and I plan to purchase many more colors from this line! #OPIInfiniteShinexUlta #ulta.

I love reds, but they are not flattering to my skin, and after trying out quite a few polishes which promised to be on the cool side, I found this one of OPI’s, Madame President, to be nearly perfect.

I had no trouble with the application or durability, used 2 coats for beautiful coverage. I really like the OPI’s formula for the Infinite Shine line. Compared to some other OPI reds, it is softer, a bit lighter than OPI by Popular Vote, and cooler in tone than OPI Red, but it is closer to OPI Red than to OPI by Popular Vote.

I also have tried OPI’s Defy Explanation, and found that too warm. Cha-Ching Cherry is also warmer, but brighter, not quite as muted as Defy Explanation. OPI’s 15 Minutes of Flame, while containing some cooler notes, appears warmer because of the gold aspect of the metallic tones in it.

It’s beautiful, but not attractive on me. As a summer woman, I am ash-brown haired, with greenish blue eyes, and look best in dusty, or grayed versions of blue-greens, purples, lilacs, lavenders, medium blues, pinks, mauves, silver-grays, etc.

, but look washed out in royal blue, navy, red, emerald, black, hot pink, and look positively ghastly in the clear bright warm colors such as the corals, oranges, browns, tomato reds or the muted autumn earth tones.

Hope this helps someone else who’d like a slightly softer, blued red nail polish!.

I bought this to help my nails recover from the false nails which I had applied/removed over Christmas. The removal was awful and has damaged my nail bed. So, I invested in this set, as I wanted to heal them.

I already wear Nail Envy and had originally wanted this set in pink, but only the beige was available. I bought it anyway, as the value for money is brilliant! This set is so understated that you could wear this nail system in a work environment where nail polish is frowned upon, especially if you put Nail Envy Matte on as the last step.

I really like it, the first coat ‘1’, has a very subtle sparkle to it that I like and my nails are slowly recovering. Thank you QVCUK and OPI, as always, brilliant!.

This one was quite impressive. I really liked the color, so I thought I would try, though I generally don’t bother with even a clear coat. I am always cleaning, working in the garage or some other random thing and beating up my hands.

This stuff is hanging on for dear life, and I just used one coat, by itself. Most pertinent to me, is that it isn’t chipping. That is why I don’t even wear clear coats, generally. If I sense one bit of a potential chip, I take to picking it all off.

This product more or less faded around the edges and never chipped. The color is very cool – it looks completely different in different lights. I would definitely purchase more from this range.

This month, I’ve really been submerging into the vast world of nail polish. I’ve ALWAYS had a proclivity for DIY nails/art, but since I FINALLY figured out how to grow out my nails – I’ve been highly dedicated to it.

I like a lot of Indie polishes (like makeup, some of the shades formulas are supreme to that of Commercial Industry Leaders). Over the course of the past few months, I’ve really been using a lot of O•P•I nail lacquers.

Finally trying their opaque white on a whim, I totally realized how reliable this brand is. I can wear this polish on my nails for three weeks or more with zero chipping. I can achieve a desirable, fully-opaque look in a solid two coats, the brush is exemplary uniform throughout every bottle, the formula dries expeditiously – I don’t have to wait HOURS in fear of a hopeless disaster.

Not to mention, this brand offers so many color possibilities for any nail combo. So far, I’ve never been disappointed by this brand. I just did a Valentine’s Day nail look using the opaque white shade (the newest addition to my collection).

I’ve had the best experience using it, it’s been a cinch to maintain.

Funny Bunny Nail Polish – @opi Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The best nail color to ever exist. Do you ever struggle with your nail color selection when going to the nail salon? For me it used to be a whole ordeal.

Seriously. “But Bri there are other terrible things going on in the world and THIS gives you anxiety?” Yes, it’s pathetic, but at least I’m self aware. This is what I constantly do, even to this day: I make my nail appointment, get to the salon 30 minutes prior and then proceed to sit in my car for 30 minutes scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram trying to see what color is trending and what would look good on my hands/toes.

Rich Kids of Beverly Hills Dorothy Wang said it best: “Choosing a nail color is harder than applying to college” and truer words have yet to be spoken. One thing is for certain, I found my go-to, ride-or-die color: Funny Bunny.

It’s a soft white without being an obnoxious white-out white. Some people describe it as a “milky white. ” But the one thing you need to know, it’s a universal color that will flatter every skin tone, look professional and match with any outfit.

Consider this color the Louis Vuitton monogram print of the nail world (since we all know that the classic monogram print goes with everything. if you disagree, gtfo). I work in the luxury industry, where professionalism is key.

You will spot me rocking neutrals most of the year, with the occasional bright pink or glitter for holidays or vacations. But you can count on me wearing this nail color 90% of the year. If you haven’t tried it yet, you need to.

Every nail salon carries this color, it’s popular among all. It also comes in gel and SNS (which is what I get). #BriBuysEverything #BriBoughtItFirst so you can decide if you need it.

I find that this product works best especially for leg pain. In some of my past jobs I was a pharmacy tech and a bank teller where you spent long long hours on your feet this was a literal godsend. It relieves muscular pain perfectly but you do need to take the lowest dose possible because NSAIDs can be very damaging to both your kidneys and your liver.

The dosage is one capsule every 4 to 6 hours and if your pain doesn’t respond to that two capsules can be used. If it still doesn’t work, I would contact your doctor. Each capsule contains 20 mg of potassium which is probably why it helps your leg muscles so much, as leg muscles respond very well to both potassium and magnesium.

I definitely recommend this product.

The OPI system (base coat, two color coats top coat) is the BEST system you will find anywhere for nail protection, colors, shine, and promoting nail growth. HOWEVER. You only get to use 2/3rds of any bottle! Each bottle thickens and makes for a nasty manicure by the time you get to the last third of a bottle.

The top coat is the worst!! Almost half the bottle is wasted as the product thickens quickly. This is also not cost effective. My advice: Get a less-expensive base top coat to use with OPI lacquer color coat.

It may not last as long as the full OPI system (10 – 14 days), but you will achieve similar outstanding results.

If you’re looking for the best nail polish, you must use the OPI collections. The base top coat from OPI are the best!!! They help your nails look like you got them done at the nail salon. You literally can’t go wrong using this brand and top coat.

It is pricey for $13 on one bottle but if you know how to use it wisely and not over apply the top coat, then it can last a long time for you. Just don’t store your polish near direct sunlight or heat.

It needs to be stored in a cool place and preferably in dark place so polish doesn’t dry out. This helps my nail polish last 3 weeks, before you start to see chipping. I will keep buying this brand. I bought it as a bundle that saves you about $4 ($22.

50 for base top) otherwise you’re paying for 1 at $13 each. You need both to help keep your nails looking like it was done at the nail salon. Plus infinite shine by OPI is really the best than the regular OPI base top coat.

I have been a fan of this nail lacquer since my husband got me some by accident for a gift. I fell in love quickly with it and the color and how it shined. So I went and got this color and I have fallen in love with it.

Now my husband knows I love purple but I also love green he got me a green one and now I have this one. Let me tell you it drys super quick with out a uv lamp but with it it takes seconds. The colors are amazing and I am about to go buy it in all my favorite colors.

I will also say I am recovering from surgery and this color nor the application process didn’t disappoint me and as it was an abdominal surgery so stay bent over a long time is not an option. So this nail product just became my favorite go to’s so I suggest giving the a try.

I use the Infinite gel polish set. It has the base coat and the top coat that come in a set and the color comes separately. This product as a whole set is ok. It does not stay on my fingernails very well at all.

On my toenails is stays for a month or longer, but that is the case with all polishes on my toes. I’m not sure that the price is necessarily worth it. I hear people rave about OPI, but in an at home manicure, it doesn’t fair well for me compared to cheaper options.

After a manicure, by the next morning, the tips are already rubbed off a good bit. By that night quite a bit of polish is missing from the tips. It doesn’t come close to lasting the “up to 2 weeks” it advertises.

I treated myself to this duo. The pink was a tad difficult to put on – slightly sticky with hidden, very, very tiny “pieces” in it. It takes about 2- 3 coats to get it right. Once on, it’s lovely. An iridescent quality that has a luxury to it that’s not some sort of cheap glitter effect and that all ages can wear as a result.

However, one slight problem – despite using OPI base and OPI top coat, it hardly stays on a day without chipping. Not an issue I usually have with OPI. It’s no big deal – as due to the texture, and colour, you can just paint back over it and you honestly cannot tell you have done it, as you can when with some other brands and colours.

My understanding is that OPI is also animal cruelty free which is a big deal for me. So, overall – in my view – fiddly and a tad expensive – but very pretty and with an effect I’ve not come across before.

It’s uplifting and very summery.

this was only my second time using gel polish, and i’ll never use another brand. opi’s gel polish is lightweight and apply easily like their normal polishes which is amazing compared to the very thick gel i’ve tried previously.

this specific color is a little bit sheer which is to be expected with sparkly shades. the color payoff is gorgeous and it lasted well. it didn’t start chipping until right around the 1 1/2 week mark but it was very minimal.

the gel soaked off SO easily. i soaked for 15 mins in acetone and most of the polish on each nail came off in one layer and minimal scraping had to be done. my nails were still flexible with this gel (which i prefer) and not rock hard like they would be with some other gel brands.

i can’t wait to buy more colors of this gel!!.

I received this polish complimentary for testing purposes. Initially, I was a little daunted by the bold colour as I much prefer darker tones but this really is a beautiful shade for Autumn and I was bowled over with the pop of colour it added to my usually dark outfits.

The bottles are beautiful and a welcome addition to my dressing table. Also, I absolutely love the cute and clever names OPI give all their shades! On to the polish itself. I’m traditionally a gel girl but was becoming increasingly tired of having the same shade for 2-3 weeks.

OPI polish offers a salon quality manicure at home that can be changed on a whim. I paired this polish with OPI base and top coat and was super impressed with its salon finish and durability. I would definitely invest in the base and top coat for best results.

Application is easy and the coverage is great. I’ve found thin coats are key for a quick drying smudge free finish – I needed to switch things up after years of gel application. Things can get a little smudgey if the polish is applied to thick and given how good the coverage is, it’s really isn’t necessary.

Two things layers are more than adequate and I’m currently chip free 6 days in. Overall strongly recommend, I’m investing in some more shades and waving goodbye to gels this Autumn/Winter.
