20 Best Neck Pillows For Travel (2023 Updated)

Had this neck pillow about 3 months. Upon receipt, the zipper never worked to remove the cover for washing. Shortly after arrival, one of the string pulls came out. Was able to re-attach. Now one of the other seams is coming apart.

Don’t know if my product defective or not. I was hoping for a pillow that would last a while. If you are looking for a disposable neck pillow, this will work. It’s comfortable and my doctor likes the results.

Now looking for another pillow to help support my neck.

I have at least six travel pillows. I am constantly looking for one that works. Finally I found it. I like the good support, the dip for the neck in the back and that it folds up into a small bag.

Bought this for a 14 hour international flight and it was great. Folds up small and expands nicely. I got a full night’s sleep thanks to this great inexpensive purchase.

IšverstiShow in original languageOne of the best travel pillows I’ve bought. I’ve only gotten to use it a couple of times, but I’ve finally been able to avoid getting neck pain or having my head bob continuously during plane or train trips.

The pillow is very soft and easy to adjust around your neck. It felt a bit unnatural at first, but I was eventually able to fall asleep. The best part was not waking up from a sudden head bob. I could only use the pillow for short naps because it would get a little bit warm, but I’m sure that extra warmth would be great for colder environments.

Overall, it’s the best pillow to have if you’re in a situation where you have to sleep sitting upright.

My head doesn’t bob, my neck doesn’t hurt, my hair isn’t messed up! I am loving this pillow and I haven’t even travelled anywhere yet. This will be perfect for my redeye flight. I also like how soft it is and the fleece will be nice as I find airplanes cold.

And for those open mouth sleepers. just bring the fleece up a bit and cover your mouth. All your problems solved with this amazing pillow. If you commute, buy it. If you travel, buy it.

Easy to put on and also very easy to just slide it around when I wanted to tilt my head the other way, didn’t have to take the whole thing off as I worried I might. I’d also like to note that their customer service is second to none, I reached out after an issue with an order and they immediately corrected it even though it was my error not theirs.

I never sleep on planes. Even those long flights from LA to Europe. I just can’t sleep. I’ve tried a few different travel pillows and they don’t really support my neck well enough, so I wake up every time I start to nod off.

It’s frustrating and exhausting. So when we were planning a trip to South Africa (30 hours total travel, including a layover in London) I knew I was going to have to figure out how to sleep. This travel pillow was a game changer.

It’s very soft, breathable, and firm enough to hold up your neck and head. It also sits a bit higher, so it sort of cradles you in a comfy position. I slept for 7 hours straight. That has never happened.

I arrived bright eyed and ready to high the ground running, instead of exhausted and needing to waste a day catching up. Win! I loaned it to my son last night. He was flying back to NY from LA on a redeye and needed to head straight to work shortly after arrival.

He called me this morning to tell me he slept the entire flight. This is a great travel pillow.

18 hour flight with this wasn’t so miserable. It is sturdy, but soft and can roll into a travel bag. It attaches to the seat so it secures your neck. No more bobbing your head as it falls forward or to the sides.

This was sort of an impulse buy for an upcoming trip to Europe. I wasn’t convinced it would be worth the price, but I got to try it out on a long car trip recently and I’m completely sold. Can’t lie – it’s the dorkiest-looking thing ever, especially when it’s turned around backwards (which in my opinion is the only way to wear it), but it’s so awesomely comfortable you won’t care.

Not only did it let me sleep, but it even helped a lot with my mild car sickness since it stopped my head bobbing around as the car moved. It made what is normally a long, miserable car ride so much more bearable, so here’s hoping it can work its magic for a trans-Atlantic flight.

Short version: a little pricey, definitely weird-looking, but crazy comfortable. If you travel, you need one.

I decided to purchase this pillow for some upcoming LONG flights. My head tends to fall to the side or hang forward when I doze on a plane. From the picture, it appeared as if the back was thinner than the rest.

I didn’t find that true on mine, so that was a bit disappointing. However, I have been using it at home for the past few weeks and it does a great job keeping my head from going side to side & hanging forward.

I love the fact that it totally wraps around & “doubles up” to provide extra support where needed (I am 5’4″ and have almost 12 extra inches for the wrap / double effect). While it is not as plush as some others & is not memory foam, it is quite comfortable.

I am quite hopeful for this pillow becoming my plane snoozing buddy!.

I don’t know if this is the exact same pillow, but I purchase a wrap travel pillow on Amazon, for my sister, for Christmas. She’s a rep in NY travels all the time. What makes this neck pillow so great is that is gives your entire head full support, even if your head falls forward, your chin is supported so you won’t have a sore neck, shoulders, and back.

Other travels pillows don’t do that. Of course I tried it at home. I took a mini nap and found it very comfortable. She loves it! It has a zipper so she can throw it the cover in the wash too.

This is a great product. I use it while I do my meditation, so I do not get the neck cricks. It sure helps my medtation to not hae to worry about holdingup my very full brain :} I like that one side is fuzzier and the other side is smooth, which will be good for wintertime/summertime switching it up.

I’ve had two long-haul trips with this pillow so far and I had the best naps ever, the closest to getting some proper sleep on the plane. The key feature of this product is its strapping to a fixed object (the head rest of your plane seat) so you support your neck/cheeks on something that doesn’t move with you as you doze off.

It’s akin to resting your head on a good friend’s shoulder as you nap, and that friend doesn’t move an inch to disturb you. This is in contrast to many of the conventional doughnut-shaped travel pillows that simply hang around the user’s neck.

The pillow is easy to attach to the head rest, as shown in the promotional videos. Once attached, it’s secure and didn’t slip out while I was nodding off. Adjusting the height of the pillow was also easy — it’s a combination of the head rest’s position and how the pillow’s straps are used.

Packing is easy too. I followed the instructions and rolled it up like a cinnamon roll. When compressed like this, it fits well into the case provided, without having to squeeze very hard and worry about bursting seams of the case! The compressed size is smaller than a football, so it’s really easy to carry.

Needless to say, once taken out of the case, the memory foam sprung back to its original shape. The washable cover seems easy enough to remove too (though I haven’t done it yet). A small side pocket in the cover for storing small personal items is also a nice touch.

Just one caveat: this pillow won’t work if you’re flying short-haul with budget airlines, whose planes usually do not have proper head rest on seats.

This was great on a five-hour flight. I must admit I felt quite superior with my compact, covered neck pillow when I saw other travelers with the standard pillows hanging off of their bags, exposed to everything around them.

I wish there were more colors available, but that’s not a big deal. The pillow cover and the carrying case have both been through the washer twice now (I hung the carry case to dry). They came out looking perfect.

This pillow’s size is advertised as 13 x 12. I measured the one I received because it looked so small. It’s finished size is actually 12 (W) x 11 (L). I contacted Bucky an they indicated that the 13 x 12 is the size of the pillow when it is empty and filling it with hulls reduces these dimensions.

I believe that this is misleading, especially in a time when a lot of shopping is conducted on line where you cannot see items in person and rely on the descriptions to be accurate. I am a small person, so the pillow still works for me, even though it is smaller than most.

However, I think that it would be entirely too small for a large person. I also did not receive the BuckyBag referenced in the description. It is a good quality pillow. I gave it less than 5 stars because of its size, and I’m not a fan of misleading advertising.

Tthe misleading size and the missing BuckyBag are my biggest complaints.

I purchased this because my old buckwheat pillow was feeling flat. I liked the idea of the removable cover & the ability to adjust how much buckwheat would be in my pillow. I was looking forward to receiving this, but was surprised when I went to put it around the back of my neck, the U shape of the pillow was so small that it was uncomfortable.

I removed the pillow from it’s cover & it was slightly better, but still too snug. I made the mistake of buying a pillow based on reviews, instead of looking at the photo of the pillow. The pillow has ended up being something I can’t even use.

While the quality of the fabric and construction of the pillow are nice, the pillow itself is too hard and bulky. Most significantly, the neck indentation is entirely too small, even for a frail old woman, to fit comfortably.

I’ve been living abroad since 2010 and took long-distance flights several times a year. Trust me when I say: many flights and many travel pillows. This is BY FAR the best and most supportive pillow I have ever bought.

It is incredibly comfortable and I always sleep like a baby arriving far more refreshed than I ever could have hoped for.

I accidentally ordered two of this product, and have been trying to return one through their site for an entire month now. They are terrible at responding and when they do, they use all of these ridiculous excuses as to why it’s taking them so long to get to you (in attempt to see if you’ll give up, I bet).

First, I had to fill out a return form and submit it. A week later they responded to my literally return form saying “you need to fill out a return form here” …like ok. Clearly a bot. I confirmed I had filled out the form and directed them to “see below” to which they apologized and told me that “Returned items must be in the original packaging, including any accessories, manuals, and documentation with no signs of use and in a perfect state.

” I told them I had not even touched the package because it was a duplicate so it was still in the “perfect state” they needed it to be in. Then they said they would follow up with a return label shortly.

That was a month ago, I have followed up countless times and every time I get a response it’s like “so sorry, we’re working on this” yeah right. These people are crooks. I want my $100 back thank you.

I used this neck pillow to help with upright sleeping during recovery from an accident and it worked wonderfully! It provided excellent close support around my neck and the fact that each side is slightly different in size/height gave the option for different sleep positions to maximise comfort.

It also compacts down nicely for travel. I definitely recommend!.

I ordered the current version of the inflatable travel neck pillow and am quite disappointed. The fabric is thinner, fuzzy on one side and more slick on the other side. The inflatable bladder plastic is thinner than my plastic kitchen bags and I expect it to end up punctured after a few uses.

My previous neck pillow rolled in on itself into a sleeve on the pillow, making it easy to store. The new one comes with a small stuff sack that could be lost very quickly. Nothing else will enclose the neck pillow.

On the business side, I never got a receipt for my purchase even though I was told they sent it. They refused my PayPal account. I paid for special shipping, but missed the shipping deadline because the information on the website had a west coast address, but shipping was in the midwest.

I did not get my product in time for my trip. And, the pillow is about 3″” in diameter and 6″” long. The shipping box was 19″”x9″”x4″”. What a waste.

I have had mine for about 20 years! It has accompanied me on numerous tavels and, most recently, I used it like a regular pillow travelling Amtrak Coach from Seattle to New York, curled up on two seats at night! The bladder has finally sprung a leak and I am happy that I can purchase a new bladder so cheaply.

The outer ‘glove’ is soft and washable. I love that it folds up so small, taking up very little space in my carry-on and is supportive and comfortable. I see people lugging around non-inflatable neck pillows that are not washable and I feel quite smug that mine is tucked away inside my bag! I am a 5′ 3″” 135lb female and it is just perfect for me! I highly recommend it!.

These are the latest additions to our travel pillow stash. Works out well as road trip pillows! Small enough, comfy, packable, soft, washable. Exactly what we need. You must have two. They’re handy and great for lumbar support.

The pillows still work well in supporting your head. Thought it was going to pack down, but it did not. Actually, it cradled my head and gave just enough neck support. Like having a pillow hug your head.

Wife and I love them. There is enough filling that you don’t end up resting your head on something hard. The stuff sack is the right size that you can use it to rest your head on if you don’t need the whole pillow.

These are nice travel pillows but the stuff sack seems unnecessary. The pillows are not that much bigger than the stuff sacks and it’s very hard to get the pillow back in the sack. So the sack is really just an extra item to keep track of.

I will go with the bigger pillow with the attached stuff sack next time.

Yes I am pleased very much with my neck pillow. I have had one for many years and finally its about warren out. I hope to get one more as my wife has taken this one over, please get them back in stock.

We love our large drift camp pillows. It is designed to be extremely functional. The memory foam is fully adjustable via a zipper in the casing. I love the pillow with all the stuffing! My husband thought it was too ‘fluffy’ so he was able to remove some of the memory foam and make it exactly the way he likes it.

We take it with us every where we go. If we’re traveling long distances in the car it makes for an extremely comfortable nap for the passengers. It is so so so much better than a neck pillow. We went to a rainy soccer game and we forgot our stadium chairs but because we travel with our pillow, we simply switched from the cloth covering to the water resistant cover and used it to sit on the wet benches.

We were so comfortable and it kept us and the pillow completely dry (for the long drive home). When picnicking, if we need more seating, we switch the pillow to the water resistant cover and we sit on it on the ground and it keeps us comfortable and dry regardless of the ground conditions.

Oh yea, we also use it in our teardrop trailer to get some very restful sleep. This pillow is so versatile and well designed!.

I bought this for tent camping and I am loving more and more each time I use it. The pillow case system is genius! You won’t lose either pillow case when you’re not using. Extremely comfy pillow. For those saying it is too firm, you can unzip and remove some stuffing to customize your fit.

I removed enough to fill a large Ziploc and it is perfect! This pillow packs down to o approx the same size as a nalgene bottle.

What can I say other than this pillow is likely my favorite addition to my gear. It’s so comfortable and this size fits perfectly into the pillow hood in my big Agnes sleeping bag. I’ll be getting the larger one for next season for car camping when I have my big air mattress and regular bedding and not using a sleeping bag.

I prefer this pillow to my pillows at home.

Bought this for a baby shower that is “woodland” themed. My cousin is having a girl so looking for woodland themed items that are still girly, is tough. This was the perfect combination of woodland and girly.

I got this so that my baby’s head would be supported in the car seat. It’s not only functional, it’s also adorable! She should be able to use it for a while (she’s 3 months now). So cute!

Bought this for my nephew, who’s almost 6 months old, for Easter. Can’t wait to see if this works for napping in the car seat. The ears on the elephant may get in the way, or they may be a good for teething.

For at least a dozen years, I’ve gifted this pillow to my adult daughter. She has come to rely solely on it for being able to find some relief for her neck pain. She has had back issues and severe neck pain since her teen years, due to her spinal formation.

After, then, being injured in an automobile accident, she found it impossible to find any comfort at all. The original pillow has been a lifesaver, and each year she relies on getting a new one, which I gladly purchase for her.

There are similar configurations of neck pillows out there, but none of them can come close to doing what this one does. Please, never stop manufacturing Tempur-Pedic travel pillows. God bless.

Incredibly stiff / uncomfortable and small. Wife and I both agreed it felt like we were being choked. Stopped wearing it after an hour on a 10hr red eye flight. Horrible purchase. If they offered sizes, this would be considered an extra small.

Maybe it’s good for a child but not a grown adult. We own a tempurpedic mattress topper and pillows and love them. The travel pillow was the biggest waste of money I’ve spent in years. Shocked they even sell this product.

AVOID!.

I had an old tempur pedic travel pillow that I used for years and was really amazing, unfortunately that pillow was lost and I ordered 2 new ones to replace my old one. The new pillows don’t come near to the quality and feel of the old one.

The new pillows feels like a cheap knockoff from malls or catalogs. the foam they use is super soft not firm, and is just plain horrible, I called customer service and their reply was since its just a pillow there is no return policy or no satisfaction guarantee.

Stay away from this pillow, its not worth paying the extra money.

It would be easy to dismiss the “x shape” part of the pillow as cheap marketing copy. It’s not. This pillow is wonderful because that little indentation makes this pillow perfect for both back sleeping (the back of your skull rests right in the indent and keeps your neck aligned) as well as side sleeping (your ear rests over the indent but the raised sides support your head, also keeping your neck aligned).

I loved my previous UL pillow but as an active sleeper, every night was a game of deflating the pillow to lie on my back, only to reinflate it to lie on my side. I wrote that off as just part of the experience.

No such thing here. I’ve started recommending this pillow to everyone.

This replaced a Thermarest Pillow that sprung a leak at the valve after a few uses. I’ve used this pillow for over 30 nights and it keeps air as it’s supposed to. It’s smaller but provides comfort. If you’re a princess and the pea sleeper this isn’t for you, however, if you want something to provide cushion that packs small and is very light, it’s a good Chinese made minimalist pillow.

Btw, backcountry customer support was awesome. They replaced my Thermarest with this at no charge and passed the warranty date. That makes for a loyal shopper who will come back for bigger transactions.

This is my first inflatable pillow and it’s one of the cheapest so maybe there are better ones out there. However, I’ve used it for two weeks and I like it. It is super light and compact. Therefore, perfect for backpacking.

It’s so light it always moves as soon as I sit up and I have to grope for it. It’s basically a pillow-shaped balloon so I don’t recommend using it outside a tent. You could lose it in a light breeze.

It’s more comfortable and less noisy wrapped in a t-shirt but I’m used to it now so I don’t bother.

Very well made and worth the money. I know I could have gotten something similar for less but the quality was not the same. Plus you get your own little pouch to carry it in and keep it clean and compact.

I felt like my neck was pushed forward to much, as did my husband. I had such high hopes for this neck pillow. I love everything about it, except I couldn’t use it as intended. Ended up using it for lumbar support and returned it when I came back from my trip.

Boucle by definition is a fabric knitted or woven of uneven yarn with a surface of loops and curls giving a thick knobbly effect.

Very disappointed!.

I picked up a couple of these neck pillows to use instead of the cheap inflatable ones that we’ve been using. I really liked the way they felt (the material on the outside and the beads on the inside).

Unfortunately, they’re just too big to use in an airplane seat. No matter what we tried, we couldn’t get them adjusted to make them comfortable. The problem is that they are so big behind your neck that they push your neck and head too far forward from the seat, making it uncomfortable.

On the positive side, they are “convertible”. That is, you can convert them from being a neck pillow to being a small rectangular pillow. This is actually kind of genius and easy to do once you figure it out.

With this, you have a small travel pillow, which is actually kind of nice to have in the car for a road trip. If you need a small, comfortable travel pillow, I’d definitely recommend it for that purpose.

Great little pillow for napping in car or use on Airplane. The best option is that it is convertible. You can use it for airplane seats or convert it into a regular pillow (rectangular shape). The filling is comfortable, it forms around your neck/head very well.

I would buy another one for my wife when i see them on sale. Best Purchase ever !! BTW, I bought this pillow online but saw it in the store first. If you have an outlet store near you, it would be a better price if you buy it in the store.

This pillow is the best ever. I lost mine and bought another that I don’t like so since this is on sale and shipping is free I am indulging myself. It switches easily between the pillow types. It’s not too hard and not too soft.

I like the filling material. Molds to your neck nicely. Please don’t discontinue this! The loop at the top is perfect for a carabiner clip so you can carry it outside your carryon. Love it. Love it!!.

I bought this neck pillow to use when lying back in my recliner because I suffer from chronic tension headaches and disc issues in my neck. I was looking for a way to keep my head and neck aligned, and I decided to try this bone-shaped pillow.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the pillow. It is one solid piece of firm memory foam with a soft cover that unzips for washing. The pillow is the perfect shape, and it helps me to be more comfortable when relaxing and watching TV.

Bought this for my son’s gaming chair and it didn’t fit. Tried it on my office chair as well as my daughter’s and it wouldn’t fit any of them. Had to return it.
