20 Best Navigation System For Truckers (2023 Updated)

I recently bought a Lowrance HDS Live 9” unit to replace a Lowrance HDS Gen 3 unit on my saltwater bay boat. After one trip to the Gulf of Mexico, I am pleased with the HDS Live unit and how Fish Reveal works.

It was quite easy to target fish on submerged rigs with the 3 in 1 transducer so I will give this unit a rating of 5! However, my rating for Lowrance is at best a 3 based on the lack of support from Lowrance technical staff! I have owned Lowrance / Eagle units since 1981 starting with the paper graphs.

Most of my units ran great but I did have significant problems with a few sonars and the support from Lowrance was less than acceptable!!! I will only discuss my HDS Gen 3 unit in this review. Beginning last year, my HDS Gen 3 unit started having sonar issues for both chirp and down imaging.

The sonar would stop working or just index at a slow rate plus periodic touch screen problems. I was able to resolve issue sometimes with soft / hard resets / touch screen recalibration. I finally called Lowrance technical support.

The technician told be my transducer had failed and it needed to be replaced. Based on my internet research, I absolutely did not believe this was the problem and I was able to evaluate the HDS Gen 3 unit on my other boat confirming that the HDS Gen 3 unit was the problem, not the transducer! I also visited a local dealer in SW Arkansas to confirm my thoughts, too.

This HDS Gen 3 unit was bought in September 2016 as part of a Skeeter Bay Boat purchase. I was extremely disappointed that this unit failed in 5-6 years. My expectation was for this unit to run for many years without any problems.

I have other Lowrance units that run 10 times the hours of the HDS Gen 3 unit without any problems. I am extremely disappointed with Lowrance technical support, and this is something you should consider before buying a Lowrance system.

I considered Humminbird and Garmin but chose Lowrance because of their reputation. Unfortunately I was disappointed. Support from Lowrance is simply nonexistent. On trying to pair my Power Poles ( as Lowrance advertised as a feature) I had issues.

I have worked in IT and Telecom for over 30 years so I should have found this easy. I followed written and YouTube instructions and it didn’t work. After two hours on the phone I was transferred to Level 2 Support.

After 45 minutes on the phone with them I was asked “What brand of Power Pole are you trying to connect?”. I told them that I was trying to connect the only brand that Lowrance will interface with but the model is a Blade.

Over three hours in I gave up. The Live mapping is FAR WORSE than anything on the market. I had and used Insight Genesis service. I have a Humminbird Helix 7 ($600) that is far better than this $3400 HDS Live.

The HDS units sow 8’ contour lines over the top of shore lines that are 4’ out of the water (zoom into photos). If Lowrance had tested this on the water for 10 minutes they would know the Live mapping is not ready for release.

They advertise the ability to interface your cell phone. It works but they don’t tell you that you cannot respond to text messages if you have an iPhone. To their credit: the side imaging is very good.

Fish reveal is very good and makes the most of the available screen size. As the industry leader Lowrance should hold themselves to a higher standard. People work hard for money that these graphs cost and they deserve a working product that has good support.

I purchased this unit for its large screen as my eyesight has been declining. I really like that part. I also knew from the start that the units auto-plot capabilities would require purchasing the upgraded maps.

This is an important feature in my opinion. Some things about this unit are very disappointing. Garmin brags about the ‘free’ ActiveCaptain app that they provide with this, however I found that it has very poor map and charting capability by itself.

I had wanted to use the app for pre-planning my outing, but it was of no real use for that. Garmin points to the extra cost Navionics app for better capability. I tried Navionics free trial and found that I could create a route there, then transfer to ActiveCaptain, and then finally transfer to the Chartplotter.

Very klunky way to get the job done. And, after paying significant money for the Chartplotter, I really don’t like the idea of paying an additional subscription for Navionics. This really hurts my satisfaction with the whole package.

Another failure is that while the chartplotter has wifi capability, it insists on being the hub, so you cannot connect to your home wifi and upload routes from your living room (again, I like to preplan my outings and I really didn’t want to sit in the boat to accomplish this).

My desire is that once I get on the water, I am just following the routes I had planned for the day, overriding only if scomething else grabs my attention. Finally, Navionics would be great if I could run it on my laptop and then upload remotely to the chartplotter.

But, there is no laptop version. Remember, I’m somewhat eyesight challenged so large screens are important. Pls make the chartplotter internet-connected rather than just wifi-connected, so I can work on my routes or updating software from anywhere.

My thermostat can do it, so my expensive chartplotter needs to catch up on that level of technology. It is behind the times in this respect.

I looked at several fish finder / chart plotter combos. This had the most features I was looking for. I like Garmin anyway. It was pretty easy to install and set up. There were only a couple of issues.

First, there are numerous expandable features, but it was difficult to determine what features are installed on this specific unit. Associated with that was the manual. It mentions all the features, but adds (if equipped).

This made things complicated, especially for someone new to fish finders / chart plotters. Lastly, was the Clear Vu screen is not as clear as the sample shows. I’ve tried adjusting contrast and brightness, but it is still too dark.

I compared the fish finding feature with an older fish finder and was amazed at the extreme close comparison. So far, I have enjoyed the Garmin, but it will take time to learn how to use it effectively.

My wife and I agree it is a learning curve and this gives us both something to grow into. I would recommend this product, but caution you to examine all the features and what comes with the specific unit.

The transducer will make the difference. Take time to see which transducer fits what you want and buy the full unit accordingly.

First, installation was a bit of a pain but it ended up great. I power it with a 20V 2ah DeWalt battery and it works just fine even if they do not recommand it. Lasts about 8 hours. I was not gonna carry a super heavy lead-acid battery in a kayak that is already loaded with camping gear.

Being that I do a lot of kayak camping-fishing trips on large water bodies having a GPS/tracker was a must for me. Just got back from a trip and that feature has been great for not getting lost in difficult situations.

The user frendliness reminded me of an old Garmin GPS, not great. Far from Google map. Menus are a little difficult to get used to but. Contour mapping is nice. Sonar is great and powerfull. Could follow my jig all the way down 150′ of water easy.

So far Clearview has been useless. You can not see any fishes on that mode. Wich is the point of a ”fish finder”. Split screen is awesome. Another con is that when you need to bring it inside your house to add waypoints or else you will need an extra power cord at $50, Ouch! So all in all it is very good but I could have done without the extra cost of CV.

I installed this on my 13 foot boat for Gulf coast creeks and shallow water fishing. The chart for this device is like a blank sheet of paper, it does not have land, water or navigation markers. The only information the chart will display is where you have been, the depth contours that your device recorded or from the Garmin Active Captain application which shares depth contours from other users.

I use my cellphone apps such as Google Maps and Navionics for the big picture if I am in unfamiliar areas. Depth and voltage alarms are very handy. The fish-finder display options are as detailed as most inshore fishing could require.

The screen size is the smallest I would use on any boat, easy to see and interpret at a glance while moving. Very satisfied.

The Bad Elf is a great sturdy GPS unit with a long battery life. I am very pleased with the classic LCD display which is functional and saves battery. There are only three cons that I can think of, two of which are minor annoyances and should not be a major issue for anyone.

1. No GLONASS: This is one of the few modern “GPS” units on the market that only use GPS and not a combination of GPS and GLONASS. This means that the acquisition time and tracking, while good, is not as good as it could have been.

Bad Elf does produce another unit with GLONASS, but it is not easily available and it costs about 50% more, which is completely over-priced for such an ordinary feature. 2. Scratch-Sensitive Screen: The plastic clear display is not in anyway scratch resistant.

It would be better if the protective sticker that came with it were completely transparent without inscriptions, such that users could leave it intact to protect the display. Or better yet, throw in a screen protector, or make the screen more scratch resistant.

3. Mini-USB not Micro-USB: The unit still uses the obsolete mini-USB adapter, which is almost unused nowadays. That means users have to always remember to carry an extra mini-USB cable on long trips, just for the GPS, rather than to share the micro-USB cable that we normally carry for all our other gadgets.

This is a good little product and although there are cheaper GPS items available that work with IOS devices, the fact that the Bad elf pro has a LCD Display that makes it actually the easiest device to use without any device connected really won me over as this made it more versatile.

Another Great bonus was that even though most sellers only mention that can be used with IOS devices, I have managed with a little bit of work by downloading a Bluetooth GPS app & playing with settings that it works very well with Android devices too.

if fact some android apps seem to give more info than the Bad elfs own GPS software. Although a good product I do believe that the Value for money is not as good as it could be, if it wasn’t for the LCD display displaying the info I personally required I would have definitely opted for a cheaper competittor.

The one thing that is missing is a POI (Points of interest) button that could be used indervidually without the need for using constant Datalogging. This for me would be valuble. Although this product good and acurate, I personilly found that My HTC Windows phone which has its own GPS chip built in was just as good.

This I believe is a testament to the quality of HTC phones but this does greatly improve the accuracy of any IOS device which is this products target market. This is also aimed at pilots & Boating community so the weather proof & durability of the bad elf is obviously abonus.

Overall is a great product which I believe is a very well designed & quality made product, that is aimed at a specialist market is great but the price is definately in the top end of the GPS reciever market.

I have no regrets though. A+++.

Bought the blue version of the Instinct Solar. I come from as a long time Fitbit watch owner and a more recent Apple Watch owner. My original Fitbit is the Fitbit Versa (1st generation), which is square shaped and fairly simple tech.

It provided what I needed, which were steps, date and time, water proof for common usage. It allowed me around 3 days’ worth of battery life. It is square shaped. It was free from work, otherwise, it would not have been my first choice for a watch.

I bought my wife an Apple Watch Series 6 to wear, but after several months she stopped wearing it and went back to her own Fitbit watch. She explained she was tired of having to recharge the Apple Watch every day.

She preferred her Fitbit watch that lasted 6 days before a recharge. I took the Apple Watch thinking I would make better use out of it as a techie, but I also ran into the issue of it required a recharge every day or every 1.

5 days at most. It was not recommended by Apple to be worn while showering even though if you go swimming Apple states that is acceptable. I literally was afraid of looking at the Apple Watch Series 6 due to the battery drain.

The inconvenience of having to remember to charge the watch before I sleep to monitor my sleep, remembering to take the watch off before jumping into the shower, and multiple other issues just wore me down too.

The sleep data for Apple Watch Series 6 is nothing close to Fitbit sleep data and anything more advanced, you have to buy from third party app developers. I could not find anything free that was similar to Fitbit and especially not something where you could just pay a one time fee.

I preferred a circle shaped watch anyways. I did some research on what was available out there that would not cost an arm and leg to purchase but had all the bells and whistle. My criteria were: – Long battery life.

– Steps count, heart rate, sleep monitoring. – Some kind of GPS feature. – Not super expensive, but not a cheap throw-away watch either. – Can take a little bit beating but doesn’t have to be military grade ruggedness.

– Circle watch and looks good (obviously). I know that “smartwatches” will not last as long as a non-smartwatch, unless the battery replacement is simple, LCD screen will last for a long time, etc. This Garmin Instinct Solar seems to fit all my wishes at this price range.

The battery life is crazy good, I mean enable everything including the pulse ox and you should get at least a week+ worth of battery life easily. This is with the watch not absorbing any sunlight at all.

It has a simple GPS, nothing fancy, but I bike ride and will be using an external dedicated GPS device for routes. I just want something for casual hiking and biking, nothing serious. I can wear this to sleep, the sleep data mimics close to Fitbit’s details.

Really nice and it’s built-in to the watch, you do not have to make a separate purchase. I do not know how accurate ANY of the watches’ heart rate are, but wearing the Fitbit, Apple Watch, and Garmin working out, the rates show to be within 15 beats of each other.

Take that for what its worth, I don’t need the accuracy for any critical medical monitoring conditions. I read that external heart rate monitor strap would make the readings accurate, so I am considering to get that should I need it later (5K/10K running, etc).

There’s a lot of other features from this watch that I have not yet used, so that is just a bonus goodie for me. I have used Garmin to connect to Strava, the data recorded is great and as expected (same with Apple Watch and Fitbit), no complaints there.

I wear this watch showering, sleeping and everything in between. The recharge of the watch is fast too, if I am standing around working, I plug in the watch and I think within 30 minutes I can get a full charge from 50% (I never really paid attention how long it takes to fully charge).

There’s got to be something not that great about this watch, you ask? Otherwise, why the 4 stars instead of 5 stars? Yes, the PULSE OX feature is a bit flaky. At night, it seems to measure the oxygen level all over the range.

As log as 80, and as high as 100. I wore the Apple Watch Series 6 and my wife’s Fitbit Luxe, they all had above 90 range. Now, one thing I am starting to realize is how you need to wear the Garmin Instinct Solar and online research also confirms.

You have to wear the watch higher on the wrist, it cannot be loose. When you sleep, just slide it up the wrist and make sure it’s tightly pressed against your skin. I need a few more sample nights to test, but I had one night where it was 85 or higher, the next night it was 90 or higher.

I’ll sleep on it a few more nights and then see, but looks hopeful now that I have the watch tightened a bit more against the skin. If you measure the Pulse Ox manually, it is always 95 or higher, this is as expected.

Overall, highly recommended watch. I would buy again!.

I literally spent hours researching this watch compared to the Vivoactive 4. Bought the Instinct Solar. So far I really like the fact that it’s not a touch screen. Love the battery life through the solar charging function.

Definitely reminds you of a really cool 80’s retro style watch. The only gripe I have is that, due to the solar charging element inside the watch face, the notifications window is really small. I can’t even think about being able to read a text on the screen without wearing glasses due to it’s small size.

So it basically just notifies me of an incoming message. I’m forced to view it on my phone. Other than that it’s a really nice watch. However, this “shortcoming” allowed myself to justify buying the Vivoactive 4 also, a week later.

So now I have two new Garmin watches. Both very different but I love them both. It’s nice to have a backup for differing styles and moods but If I was absolutely forced to choose one, like on the off chance my wife would happen to see this review (LOL).

I’d have to go with the Vivoactive 4. Can’t go wrong with Garmin. Been a loyalist for years.

This and a 942 are perfect for my flybridge/salon helm positions. The selection of screens – all of any one choice, or combos of sonar, nav chart, radar, give me exactly what I need. I had Fantom radar installed at the same time, and it’s a great pairing.

Enlarging the target size makes the Fantom so much more useful. Old conventional sonar provides a great picture on this MFD. 100% happy, except having to switch from built in manual to screens and back takes more effort that I prefer.

A paper manual I could take home and study would be preferable. Helm occupies dash in front of helm chair, 1242 is flush mounted off the the left, sunshade would be helpful. 942 in salon is very bright.

Bought 2018, delighted with improvement over 15 year old competitor model.

I have the 942 in cabin, 1242 on flybridge of coastal trawler. Works great with Fantom Radar and older transducer. Excellent for navigation, clear sonar track, radar images. Lots of options to set personal preferences, like extended boat heading marker, enlarged target image and tracking.

Screen is bright – radar does good job of picking out daymarks, small private buoys if looking for cover in a sudden fog, using chart for tracking course – essential for MOB recovery. It gives me everything I need on the screen at one time – helps me spend more time as visual lookout, less time playing with the screen.

Garmin product combination recommended by mechanic and electronic installer over other brands.

I CAUGHT 40 WALLEYES IN 2020 FROM MY BOAT. INSTALLED MY HELIX THIS SPRING AND BOATED OVER 180 WALLEYES THIS YEAR. THE SIDE IMAGING HAS BEEN GREAT FOR FINDING WEED EDGES, FISH CRIBS, ROCKS, ETC. THE CLARITY OF THE DOWN IMAGING AND 2D SONAR HAS BEEN INCREDIBLE FOR IDENTIFYING FISH.

THE NEW LAKEMASTER MAPS YOU CAN RUN ON THIS UNIT PROVIDE GREAT DETAIL. I LOVE THE 3 BUTTONS THAT CAN BE USED TO PRESET VIEWS. I HAVE ONE ON MY LAKE MAP SHOWING MY WAYPOINTS AND DETAILED CONTOUR LINES, THE SECOND IS MY SIDE IMAGING AND THE THIRD IS A SPLIT SCREEN BETWEEN DOWN IMAGING AND 2D SONAR.

I BOUNCE BACK AND FORTH CONSTANTLY BETWEEN THESE VIEWS. I HAVE AN ICE CONVERSION KIT ON ORDER SO I CAN USE MY UNIT FOR ICE FISHING. I ALSO HAVE A 360 UNIVERAL MOUNT ON ORDER THAT I HOPE TO HAVE MOUNTED ON MY BOAT FOR THE 2022 WALLEYE OPENER.

I’VE SPENT HOURS RIDING AROUND WITHOUT WETTING A LINE JUST PLAYING WITH MY ELECTRONICS AND LEARNING THE WATER. ALSO CATCHING A LOT OF CRAPPIES JUST BECAUSE I SEE THESE BIG SCHOOLS MOVING UNDER MY BOAT THROUGHOUT THE WATER COLUMN.

I’M STILL LEARNING THE CAPABILITIES OF MY UNIT WHILE BOATING A GOOD NUMBER OF FISH. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

I’ve been running Humminbird helix units solely on my boat for over six years now. I am a guide and can’t have units not work every day of the open water season. I have never had a issue with any helix unit ever.

Not once, regardless of conditions. I also uses both my helix 7 and 10’s for ice fishing. No issues there either. The guy below with power issues had a wire or two crossed…. There’s lots of great brands out there, I’ve used them and some buddies still have them.

For me hummingbirds are the best. Ease of use, great mapping options, easy networking within the boat, and clear, deadly accurate sonar images. I rely on my birds to provide my clients with great trips and help me provide for my family, they’ve never let us down.

My first fishfinder was a simple Humminbird Piranha. Did the job, but I wanted more. Got a great deal on a different maker’s 7 inch top of the line. Big mistake. Never worked properly. Terrible, incomprehensible manual.

A lemon. Dumped it for a Helix 7 MSI G4. WOW! What a difference. Way better than the other fishfinder. Incredible sonar. The Summary Guide got me started quickly, and the simulations are terrific. Easy to set up and easy to use.

Wish I had stuck with Humminbird all along.

The G80 GPS screen is excellent to use, responsive and clear during the daylight. The distance is super accurate as well (Checked with Bushnell laser). I’m excited to get to the range and use the training aid features given the GPS and maps side of the tool work so well.

Golfbox had this to me in 2 days, super happy with the price and the speed of delivery!.

It’s obviously not a full trackman style product but provides good solid information to help develop steady, repetitive golf swing figures. The course GPS is also very good although hardly any courses in my area appear with the white surrounds often used on Garmin advertising.

This makes it a little trickier to make out the fairway shapes when using the Garmin in bright lighting conditions. I did bring this up with Garmin but it fell on death ears.

Very easy to set up and use. The launch monitor function is great for making practice sessions at the range much more informative. On the course the GPS function is so easy to use and very accurate. Perfect if you don’t want to wear a GPS watch.

The holster is on my caddie at all times and was simple to fit using the kit provided. Overall the quality of the Garmin equipment is well worth the money.

This is the last GPS model Garmin made that was useful for me. The battery contacts don. t last vey long, the power button won’t either, but they work great when they are in good shape. It has some useless frills (I know when to fish and hunt, but thanks anyway) but still fundamentally tells me where I am, interacts with mapping programs, and doesn’t have all junk (really, I didn’t buy this thing to plot a cross-country mountain bike trip) the added to subsequent models.

Garmin missed the big boat by becoming, like Trimble, too specialized for their own good. They have been left behind by the BYOD (Bring your own device) GPS companies and in my opinion have only one way of staying relevant – become one of the few iOS compatible survey grade GPS companies.

But they won’t. Listen Garmin- we need an affordable, GNSS device with 1-2 m accuracy that simply collects points or paths, has a decent screen and takes topo chips. Bluetooth to IOS would be nice. That is all.

I had a 60CSx since when they came out. But lost it last year while on an Iowa deer hunt. Drove to a big retailer and bought a 64st to get through my hunt. I found myself cursing it daily. I kept picturing the engineering team at Garmin sitting at a big round table and some dope standing up stating “I have a great idea for the new model! Let’s make the user push 5 buttons to do the same thing as the 60 CSx takes only 3 to do.

” It drove me crazy stumbling to my treestands in the dark while trying to navigate the ridiculous 64st screen. No thanks! I am a very patient person and write good reviews 90% of the time. But I have nothing good to say about the 64st other than it has more functions than the 60CSx.

But that comes at a price, as I found it draining the batteries significantly faster. New st at $400 or a used 60CSx at $100. Easy choice for me!.

Just used the new Garmin on a trip to Florida. It was so easy to use and keep us on track. Even places that we are familiar with when approached from a different starting point makes it so easy to find the best routes.

I also appreciate having a dedicated GPS, rather than fumbling with my smart phone that is usually in my pocket or busy with another app. The only complaint I have is the voice is a bit to demanding, sounds like my wife.

(Just kidding). This is my third Garmin over many years, and am very pleased with the product.

This GPS, while it looks good from the specs & box, has several design shortcomings. The box says that it supports XP, Vista, and 7 or OSX. Given this, I have to use my old laptop because every recent machine I have has had Ubuntu Linux put on it.

(You never know how bad windows is until you don’t have to use it anymore. ) I figured that since OSX is supported, that it’d ‘just work’ on LInux since OSX is based on BSD Unix. Unfortunately, this is not the case, even though the update process simply downloads a file and copies it to the GPS, which shows up on the system as a USB Mass Storage Device.

(For the non-technical people reading this, it’s about the same difficulty as downloading a file from the internet onto a USB flash drive. ) The download on Garmin’s site lists the minimum required OS as Vista – no support for XP.

I finally got it installed by using a few tricks I know and updated it to the latest maps. Gave it a test run by going to a buddy’s for a meeting – I’m glad I did! Dave lives out in the country. He has a city mailing address though.

I learned by this that technically, he lives in the neighboring village. The GPS wasn’t smart enough to look for an address match half a mile outside the city and instead gave me absolute jibberish for destination options.

Calling support was an exercise in frustration. After over half an hour, the guy told me that my friend lives in the village rather than the city. (Strange that google maps finds his address no problem when entered in the city, as does the post office.

) When I expressed frustration at the lack of OS support, he told me that they don’t want to update the box from when the GPS was first released. He also told me flat out that the updates will probably work with XP for ‘a while yet’, but that they’ll discontinue it at some point, whenever the usage numbers get too low for them to ‘bother with’.

Same sentiments regarding Linux support – I guess 60 million PCs running an OS isn’t enough for Garmin to care about. While researching options to make it work with Linux, I learned that there are options out there to install 3rd party maps onto the GPS.

However, the support guy told me that if I overwrite the wrong file on the GPS, it will destroy it. When I mentioned that I’d taken a backup of the file system in case something bad did happen in the future, he told me that a lot of the areas cannot be written to more than once.

In short, if a file is corrupted, you’re out of luck. They do this ‘to prevent people from pirating the software’. This makes 0 sense as one can copy the software from the device as much as you want – you just can’t fix yourself it if something goes wrong.

To me, this is nothing but a blatant way to prevent knowledgeable people from repairing their own devices. Instead of taking me from road A to road B to road C to his house, it was trying to divert me through small towns and down side-streets.

No idea how long it would’ve taken me to get there how it wanted me to go because I was afraid of getting lost, even though I knew the way. The battery was charged for 12 hours after I got the device.

It gave a low battery warning about 20 minutes after the first time I used it, which means that you basically have to have it connected to your car battery all the time. The map did not follow my vehicle as I was driving like other GPS units I’ve seen, instead displaying the map at the first turn I took.

It was like this for many miles until I turned the thing off out of frustration & disgust. It knew where I was from the directions it kept trying to give me, but the display just didn’t update. I’m very thankful that I tried this out when I did and did not wait until I needed it for a trip.

My local Staples store couldn’t have been nicer about my returning it. This is the first negative review I’ve written for a long time. Part of it is probably due to the fact that I’ve badly wanted a GPS for a very long time and that this unit was such a monumental disappointment.

Bought this product to use abroad on a rental car – it worked out much the same cost to buy this one as to hire one for that period of time. Also, because the inbuilt satnav on my own car was 8 years out of date and would have cost 350 to update with a new CD! Overall, it’s far better to use than my inbuilt (Mercedes) one – primarily because it’s touch-screen rather than paddle-controlled, but also because it’s so much easier and quicker to locate precise addresses, even if you don’t know the postcode.

Its ability to pronounce road names, particularly in Spain, is not good – but can be very amusing at times! It’s proved generally very accurate in choosing and navigating the best route – and is very quick to adjust to route changes.

It would be improved by a single button to return to the top-level menu; it can be quite tedious if you’re down several levels and have to press the back button repeatedly to get back to the main menu (particularly when the device is attached to the windscreen; so that can only be done when the car is stopped and the seat belt released, in my case).

If I was buying again, I would probably spend a bit more and buy the version that incorporates traffic into its route calculations, but that limitation aside, I’m very pleased with the device and would recommend it.

This is a very useful tool for me. Of course your mileage may vary. As an average golfer who doesn’t have access to professional level equipment things like club head speed and distance were always very directional guesses for me.

The launch monitor feature has allowed me to better understand, with more certainty, the more technical aspects of my swing which adds confidence on the course. On to the GPS. I do not belong to a club and my local munis/public’s are usually packed so I play whatever and wherever I can.

This means I’m usually playing a course for the first of second time with no context on where anything really is. The GPS is great at being able to help me navigate the various courses. I haven’t used the other features yet of the device but have heard they can be a bit gimicky.

In my opinion, if you use this as an aide and take it with a grain of salt you won’t be disappointed.
