20 Best Mountain Bike Light For Night Riding (2023 Updated)

This is the cutest little, high techy looking light I’ve ever seen, small enough to make an excellent helmet light, which is how I use it. But, in spite of an unexplained photo of the light on a helmet via a mounting bracket, no mounting bracket is included.

I had to then had to wait for the bracket in a seperate order. The battery pack also of good quality. In spite of my frustration I would definitely recommend this light.

I bought this for an all night ride. I charged fully and tested that it worked. It failed on the highest setting after approximately 35 minutes. On the second lap it failed after about 50 minutes on 2nd highest setting.

Subsequent testing (running indoors) gives run time on highest setting at around 1hr 30. I guess this is probably JUST okay to not send it back but nowhere near good enough to recommend it.

Nothing short of brilliant. Super bright at a great price in a vey manageable size. I think the best thing about this generation of the Magishine is how easily it all mounts to a headstrap, that’s both the lamp and the battery.

So I can wear this walking the dog, cross country skiing or riding my bike as a head lamp and not worry about a cable dangling around my head or shoulders. I love this light.

I’m very happy with this light after only one ride. I knew within the first few minutes that it will be sufficient to ride for the next winter seasons, paired with the Niterider Pro 1400 Race light mounted on my helmet.

The 2800 Enduro light has great coverage and is simple to operate with the included handlebar remote. There are four brightness levels and the lowest is definitely sufficient for singletrack and fire road ascents.

The stronger levels are fine for quick singletrack descents. However, the helmet light is necessary for seeing where your eyes are pointing, and for really letting loose to bomb steep hills. Also, if you get a flat or drop a chain, you’ll be able to repair in the dark without unclipping your light from the handlebar mount and trying to position it on some nearby branch or rock to repair hands-free.

Unfortunately, I didn’t realize this particular light does not include a helmet mount. This is because the handlebar remote, which is cabled long enough to fit a 800mm bar (in case you were wondering), would need to be secured somehow on top of your helmet if the light was helmet mounted.

If unsecured, the remote would flail around. The following is also a major drawback to the light: the remote cable ONLY extends from the right side of the main light housing and the remote cable is not really long enough to re-route to the left side of your bars and be close enough to your left thumb for easy operation.

It really only works on the right side of your bars if you’re running longer width bars. So, you better have some real estate and the right setup on the right bar side to accommodate the remote. Another drawback to the light (which is complained about in many other Niterider light reviews on various sites online) is the quality of the mounts.

These mounts are definitely all plastic, and not necessarily strong composite plastic. While the handlebar mount clamp will fit both 35mm and 31. 8mm bars (there are two different length screws included), and the clamp is highly configurable and comes with a non-slip rubber insert, it overall still feels pretty cheap and there are hex head pivot screws that you should definitely avoid over-torquing at all costs 🙂 And, even when feeling tightened adequately, the pivots feel like there’s an unacceptable amount of play – i.

e, the My hope is that the compromise is that the mount will ben or break easily in a serious crash, hopefully saving the light itself, and the mounts are obviously easily replaceable, where as the light is expensive.

I’ve read, though, that Niterider is pretty good about replacing light accessories that fail. Another couple drawbacks, which are really nitpicking at this point, are: • The power meter on the top of the light housing, consisting of four tiny square green lights in a strip, is quite difficult to read and guage while riding because Niterider uses the internal glow from the LEDs to illuminate the red brightness level selector button adjacent to the level meter lights, which then bleeds through the small green lights and inadvertently also makes them slightly illuminate – even though one or two might be off because the battery level has dropped.

• Last small drawback is the battery pack cable connection point to the light cable. The connection is maintained by uni-directional black connector heads which are male and female oriented, with a slightly raised notch that only allows the connection when both the connectors are very strictly aligned with each other.

The male pin connector has the notch and must be inserted into the female connector. The problem I encountered is that both connectors (though there are VERY small tactile raised ridges on both connector housings that help indicate alignment) are colored matte black, which makes them impossible to see without direct light (no gloss finish, so reflective light won’t even work), and the connection fit is quite tight to maintain water resistance.

So, in a dark environment, you’d be fumbling around to re-connect the light and battery pack cables if for some reason you had to disconnect or the main light got disconnected in a wipeout. Both of these scenarios are fortunately improbable, though, so the issue has only occurred to me when swapping the battery pack and light to another bike in my dimly lit garage.

It was more annoying than anything else. So far I haven’t tested out the full duration of the battery pack, as I only rode for two solid hours and I still had two small green power meter lights illuminated, while switching between brightness levels to preserve battery longevity.

I’m not going to go out riding without charging the battery pack to full, so I have to assume at minimum the light will definitely last for three hours with good brightness level management. **I have not tested this light in rain yet, although it’s supposed to be pretty water resistant.

Wanna see the terrain you’re riding? This is the tool. Cheap? Not even. But, this thing opens an entire new world of riding. Turn the woods into day. at night. I’ve ridden other NiteRider products, and all are high quality.

This unit is no different. Glad I purchased. would purchase again without a second thought.

Bought the light thinking to give Niterider just one more chance. I’ve purchased over 1500 dollars in lights from them. Charged the new light as directed. Went out about a month ago and light worked good and after 2 hours of riding the battery indicator said I still had more then half life so I didn’t charge.

I went out again and 1 hour into the ride it dropped off quickly to zero battery left. ??? I guess this is how these lights work. My riding friend who won the same light at a raffle verified this. Came back home and recharged the next day.

Went out the following day and nothing. Got home that night and put it on the charger, it said it was charging but it never did. I tried again and nothing. Sent it back to Niterider and they sent me a new charger, same problem, would not charge.

Sent back the charger and they sent me another charger that doesn’t go to this light. By now I am beyond frustrated as I should of known better as I’ve had the similar issues with Niterider before. I talked to customer service who was very helpful and they asked me to send back the whole unit which I did.

Got the new unit a few days ago and the wire going into the light is coming out!I called customer service again and asked for a total refund but they only offered a replacement light so I sent my light back again, what a hassle.

Still waiting on getting my third light from them. PROS: Long battery life, Low battery indicator, Rechargable CONS: Poor Quality BEST USES: Night commute, Front headlight.

I purchased the NiteRider Lumiina Boost 1000 from REI using my end of year dividends. I noticed that this model was on sale in a number of other cycling stores, including about 40% less cost on Amazon.

I paid REI full retail for this, $30 – $40 dollars above what I could have paid otherwise – but I wouldn’t have upgraded my existing NiteRider 600 headlight if it wasn’t basically a free purchase via the dividend.

The OLED 600 is still going strong – I wanted more lumens and duration. Light and mount are solid – I already used an older OED 600 so I know the functions. The new light is brighter at all levels, and has significantly more duration at the lower lumens levels.

But, to get “boost” mode – the full 1000 lumens – a “double click” on the single toggle button is prescribed. The toggle is supposed to turn from “blue” to “red and blue. ” I am not able to make this happen, no matter how many double-clicks I try.

So now it’s an overpriced 750 lumen headlight. Perhaps there’s a reason prices were slashed on this specific light at other retailers.

In my testing, I found that the battery life does not seem to match manufacture advertising. Big surprise right?! I also wasn’t blown away by the amounts of light it put out for the price point. With that being said, it is pretty light.

I’m not sure if it’s light enough to be used as a mounted helmet lamp, but it isn’t too heavy even for that application. I was super disappointed to find out that in order for NiteLink to work you need to purchase a controller to link all of your lights that are compatible with that technology which in my opinion is just flat out greedy.

I would have prefer if I was just able to link my front light with my tail light without the need for an additional accessory which also clutters your handlebar. Last thing I want to note is that the USB Type-C charging is also pretty slow despite the advantages of Type-C charging speeds over micro USB.

Overall it’s a good lamp, just a bit overpriced. I would just get the one without the NiteLink if I could do it all over again and save some cash.

This light is great. I’ve used it all winter the last 2 years for my commute, that includes an unlit bike path through tree cover, so pretty dark. This is as much light as I need. Also good for riding mtb trails when paired with a helmet light.

On the standard setting it’s good for a couple hours. The low setting is good for when you just need a light for visibility to cars. The mount is sturdy, adjust from old skinny handlebars to new fat handlebars, and doesn’t slip.

Charges fast. The only drawback, same as most bike lights, is it does not have a shaped beam with a cutoff so you don’t blind oncoming riders, the only reason I would consider a different light.

In a world where quality bikes & gear have gotten ridiculously pricey this light set offers very good quality & performance at a thankfully reasonable cost. On lesser expensive lights like these the flaps covering the USB port are decent but over time will possibly leak.

I place a small piece of duct tape over them when not charging batteries to extend product life. Easy. All things considered these lights are a great value for the $$. Time will tell as of their durability and/if warranty is solid if needed.

Using these lights as giving me an added feeling of safety when I am on my bike. If I have to ride in the evening hours the lights illuminate brightly so drivers can see me clearly. The design of both lights are slick and aesthetically pleasing, the quality of the lights is superb, and the feeling of security and safety is priceless.

Very bright and easy to attach to bikes. I purchased five of them and they all work great. Don’t waste your money on the cheap ones. I purchased the cheap ones and they were garbage. Hope this helps.

First off I just want to state that this is a really bright light at 600 lumens. Other reviewers state that it is not intuitive but it really is. A single press of the button will turn on the light, each additional single press of the button will cycle you through the different light modes and lastly, a single press and hold will turn the light off.

Another reviewer stated using a knob to select modes but adding a knob will only add an additional component that would be susceptible to breakage. The only negative about this light is that it is front-heavy from the pivot point, that means that the light will tilt forward and down when subjected to riding on rough roads or bumps and will require readjustment from time to time but that is only a minor inconvenience with all the pro’s this light offers.

The rubber attachment strap helps the light to absorb the shock of rough roads but comes at the cost of the light tilting. Regardless of all this I highly recommend this light.

I have used this for over a year now. I would not recommend this light. My biggest issue is that the battery sucks and won’t lost a day, certainly not more than one day. Second issue is the design. Selecting a light pattern and turning off the light is not intuitive.

My biggest issue is that the battery does not last long at all. As in, there is just enough juice to last one day of riding while having the daylight lights on. There have been *many* times after a day of riding my bike around, right as I’m coming home *at night* the light just … dies.

At the most dangerous time. You HAVE to remember to take it off your bike and plug it in EVERY time after a ride. And even if you do, you can’t count on it to last the whole day if you’re running the daytime lights.

My other issue is the button design. I really dislike having to repeatedly press the one button it has to cycle through like 7 settings to find the one I want. This is the same issue with headlamps and lanterns and all sorts of outdoor gear.

I wish manufacturers would use some kind of twist knob with a visual icons of the light patterns to select, paired with an on/off button.

I don’t ride after dark so I can’t say how these would perform at night. However, the red tail light is BRIGHT so I’m sure it would be great. The headlight is also pretty bright so would make you visible at night, but I’m not sure how well it would light up the road.

They both have several modes, with varying brightness and flashing. The modes don’t seem to quite match the instructions but you can cycle through them to see what you like. The mounting system is just a rubber strap, rather than a screw-on clamp.

It remains to be seen how long that will last under a product that is used outdoors. It does allow flexibility as to where you can mount it. My handlebars already have a bell and camera mount so the front light is mounted sideways on the head tube.

I have a small bag under the seat so the rear light is mounted on the seat stay. Charging is as easy as charging a phone. I have only charged them once so I am not sure if the battery life of one charge will be as advertised.

Both lights have low-battery indications. The construction seems to be rainproof although they do not seem to be advertised as such. For example, the charging ports have rubber plugs to keep out dust and rain.

I bought this light to make my New York City commute safer now that daylight savings time has ended. The salesperson recommended a 650 lumens unit as more than adequate for the urban environment, and I have to agree.

It lights the road up well, and makes me very visible on the flash mode. As others have noted, the weak spot of this unit is the mount. It doesn’t hold the light securely, and I ended up dropping it on the sidewalk.

While the case is very strong, the light managed to land right on the bottom part where the mounting slots reside. One of the slots broke off, and now the light is even less secure. Other than that problem, I think the light is great for my needs.

Very good mid priced light set. Strap for the rear light is heavy rubber, and it should last a long time. I like that the light can be removed from the mount for charging. I have only used the front light once on a short ride.

It is very bright, however it lacks the ability to pivot the light side-to-side. So if you need to mount it off center, your light pattern will be off center. The effect is worse if your bars are angled back as you move from center.

Probably not a big deal for most users. Final thing. please please let’s stop manufacturing new things that use USB-B connectors. If it was USB-C, I would give it 5 stars.

The biggest problems that I have with bike lights are a) they get stolen and b) they run out of batteries unexpectedly. The ease of removing this light fixes the first problem, as I just quickly grab it every time I’m coming inside.

The second problem is fixed by the fact that the power button has a light indicating green for full power, yellow for running low, and red for charge it now. Now, I am safer more often. A good light.

Noticeable, yet affordable and easy for anyone to add to their bicycle and ride during the day or night. The brightness of the rear/front is a sure attention getter and the front lights are bright enough for any unlit road.

The rear light holds well to a bicycle storage pack on the back of my bike. I cant say enough great things about this set it really is awesome.

Looks good , compact and sturdy the lights & 6 modes are intense and fit the purpose satisfied with it and will recommend hope this pricey replacement last longer than DYZI that collapsed just 4mths.

Overall I like these lights. I use them on my ten speed for daylight running lights. I don’t think they would be remotely adequate for night riding. They are not expensive, they are rechargeable, and they are easy to operate.

Pressing the lens twice turns them on, then one press each to cycle through the flashing modes. The lights also have a fully charged indicator. My only complaints are I’m not sure 20 and 10 lumens is bright enough.

I sometimes feel a little underpowered. Also the supplied bans can be a little short in length depending on where you’re mounting them on the bike. I wish the bands were a little longer.

Pro: Solid built quality, compact, sleek design, relatively light weight, very affordable, comes with two micro-USB charge cables, has full charge indicator, three light modes for front and back, easy to turn on, bright to be seen, comes with third replacement harness band.

Con: Front light projection is mediocre. Not easy to remove light off band to charge if one’s bike has wide diameter frame and handle bar.

I own a Cycletorch taillight and it works great. I bought a set from this ebay ad and the taillight switch didn’t work very well and the front light switch was better but not perfect. I returned the lights without any hassle.

I own the Solas 250 and found it almost too bright in some situations. It also drains its battery a bit quickly for my taste. But there is a lot I love about it. So I got a couple Solas 100s for my wife and son.

They are still very visible even in daylight, but the battery seems to last a lot longer. Both the 100 and 250 have a single button to select flashing and turn on/off, but oddly the sequences are different.

Both are small and light, strap easily to a seat tube and are pretty easy to remove for charging. Both provide plenty of visibility in just about any light conditions short of direct backlighting by the sun.

My on caution: make very sure the light has snapped solidly back into its mounting bracket if you charge it off the bike. I was careless about that and my 250 came loose when I hit a bump in traffic.

(Sad crunching noise as a car ran over it. ) I ordered a new one that night, and mooched my wife’s 100 until it arrived. For any conditions short of commuting in, fog or snowstorms (I do that), the 100 is plenty of light and gives you a good run time per charge.

I charge the light at home. I cycle an hour in the morning to work with the light on fast flash (4 hr run time). I cycle home an hour at night with it on steady low (40 hr run time). When I turn the light off it indicates that it needs to be recharged.

The light is only a month old so should be at optimum battery performance for holding its charge. Very annoying to have to charge it every day. Would be good if it had a flash mode that wasn’t as bright so that it didn’t blind cyclists behind you at night.

Both the pulse flash and fast flash are very bright to following cyclists at night. Great for the day but too bright at night. The extreme/pulse final flash of the fast flash seems to use up the battery life so eliminating the pulse would also extend the run time so that it lasted longer.

I wouldn’t recommend.

Great light for urban commuting. Provides solid visibility both in daylight and at night. At daytime, I only use the regular light, no laser lanes. Laser lanes at night give me reassurance that idiot drivers know how much space to leave (doesn’t mean they respect it, but at least they know).

Battery life leads a bit to be desired. I have a 20 minute commute each way (about 2 miles with lights) and I’m charging the battery after 2-3 days of commuting roundtrip. Also, my light is not even a year old and the charging port has failed.

I’ve reached out to NR for assistance and am awaiting a response. If it weren’t for the lousy battery life and the premature charging failure, this would be a perfect light.

Easy on – easy off plus it’s rechargeable!! The light is very bright and has different modes, including flashing. This is the third one I have bought – very satisfied!!

I have used it in the blinking mode during the day for saftey. So fa it has worked well. After charging, I used it several days for 40 to 50 minute rides before it needed recharging. The elastic attachment system is a little clunky, but it works and is easy and fast to attach and detach.

I haven’t used it at night yet, but the bright mode seems very bright.

My friend ordered one and showed it to me. We both were immediately impressed with the magnetic close on the box! Nobody does this! Most just look for the cheapest way to package something. The literature took a playful creative approach and the light feels good,looks good, and works well.

I’m going to buy another for my bike (the first one was for my son’s bike). I wonder what else they make?.

I think the lights themselves are great! I love the magnet snap on and snap off ability. Plus the lights are big and bright. What I don’t like is how they connect to my bike. The lights tend to slip down because I can’t get the band tight enough with the hole I can use on the handlebar.

The holes on either side make it too small or to big. It could be an improvement to have the band be an inch longer and a few more holes. That improvement would allow the lights to fit a variety of different bikes.

As it is now, I’m vary limited to where I can place my lights. I’m unable to place the brake light under my seat because my seat is all the way down and the band is to small to fit around the frame of the bike.

I’m still glad I got them. I just wish they fit better.

Bought sets for me, husband, and 20-something son who bikes the streets of Chicago (we’re in the burbs). I’ve done a lot night riding and even winter riding and I like to say the rear light is the most important light in general.

Holy cow, the rear light is BRIGHT. My husband had the rear light on flash mode through a nighttime ride in the burbs with me riding behind. I had to have him put on steady mode because the flash mode was like a strobe light – a bit much for the burbs but think it’s for nighttime rides in Chicago.

Glad my son has this rear light – well-suited for a bright, busy urban environment.

Lovely look to these items. Charging is simple and easy. Pieces are interchangeable which is cool/good. The rubber strapping needs to be more robust. I’ve broken one of the four purchased already. The locking mechanism needs to be harder too, while the rotation of the light to turn it on needs to be easier, and separate from the mechanism that unlocks the light from the frame (know what I mean?).

I’ve dropped one a few times – luckily it was on and flashing so I circled back and found it.

Really nice combo here with the headlight and tail light. Headlight is super bright and has a nice pattern and road coverage. Adjustable light intensity is nice too depending on how much light you need.

You will be really visable to traffic! The adjustable rubber straps that come with it are great and secure. Attaching to your bike is easy. I like the different size straps included. I used one to attached the tail light to the rear of my helmet.

USB rechargeable headlight and tail light is great! No more wasting batteries. Just be sure to keep it charged as I have found that after a week or so of no use, it did lose its charge. Charges quick though and seems to last.

This is my second Cycle Torch Shark headlight. One for me, one for my little son. Provide a very bright and wide light, long lasting battery. Very sturdy, aluminum case, easy to recharge. The little tail light is a great bonus.

It worths every single penny of it.

This is a great product of quality and at a reasonable price, from the box it was packaged in to the bonus taillight, 5 light modes and the taillight has 4 I believe, the front offers a strobe which I use for daytime.

This whole package is a Big Bang for your buck. If I had to pick one thing that could use an upgrade it would be the headlight mount it is a bit sloppy,(loose), but Im very satisfied and I will absolutely recommend this light.

I use the light primarily on flash for daytime rides to get the attention of oncoming traffic. It has a bright flash that does a good job. It would be nice if the light would return to daytime flash after being turned off and turn back on for next ride, but it doesn’t.

You must go through the extra steps to get back to daytime flash each time. Also, the mount is not adequate to keep the light in position. To use the control button while riding without reaiming the light requires two hands, which leaves no hands for steering the bike! Maybe someone will develop an after market mount that will firmly mount the light.

It would be a great light if it had an adequate mount!.

Excellent product for both day and night time riding. Very small and lightweight and straps easily onto handlebars. Has a total of 8 lighting modes. Can be easily seen in daytime and is very effective when riding at night on unlit roads.

Battery life is great (depending on which mode you’re in) and conveniently charges via any micro usb cable. Takeaway: It’s rugged and tough with a water resistant design. Very small and super bright.

This little light is just what I need on my trike, for the times I get caught out unexpectedly after dark. I also use it when I have to ride in traffic during the day, the daylight strobe function gets the attention of car drivers.

I sit low on the trike, so this light makes me stand out for safety. It’s bright enough for my needs, since I don’t ride terribly fast. A regular bike commuter who’s out every night might prefer one of their brighter, more powerful lights.

I like the low “walking” mode for times when only a little light is needed (within RV parks, etc. ). USB charging is SO handy, I just plug it into my phone car charger.

This is a great little light. Very easy to mount, is very clear and easy to see. The brake light function works so well, you would think it is hard wired. Very highly recommend.

Very effective rear light, perfect to locate just under saddle allowing reassuring comfort knowing you can be seen both in daylight and night time. Easy to use and powerful for such a small unit.

This is a well made, solid product. I bought it for primarily grating cheese. This does the job well, but although I managed to grate the cheese, I found it very difficult to keep fingers away from the grater when the cheese was smaller.

so a few grated fingers too! ok, so must take care at this point,however, I also like to grate Garlic, which I can do on my Microplane. this is definately a no no with this. !!!.

I was skeptical when I Purchased this lights. Small and slim but very bright for their size. Fits very snugged in the bike. And they are rechargeable. Awesome purchase and I already recommended them to some of my friends.

I was looking for a brighter light set for road biking then my Blackburn’s and decided to give these a try. I was surprised as to how bright they are and they seem to be of decent quality. Came with two charging cables and mounting o-rings.

Great light, arrives in just under two weeks. I was expecting it to be in a plain box like some I had seen on You Tube, but was glad to see it packaged in a proper see through display box, the sort of thing you see hung in a cycle store.

One of the reasons I chose the Vastfire was the handlebar clamp. Some other makes came under criticism for poor quality, or even breaking. No problems with this one, it is very robust and holds the light steady.

The light is released by pushing in a small tab on the side, then slide the light forward. Nice to see that the screw is stainless steel, so no worries about rusting. The light itself is very well made, gives a good bright light which on a narrow lane would light both verges.

The photo shows it on full brightness, but I usually only ride with it on the first or second setting. as these are bright enough for road use. Importantly, I have not been flashed by oncoming cars, so it would seem that it doe’s not dazzle others.

Battery life seems to be very good, cant quote how long as I haven’t run them right down. I charge them by plugging the light into my Amazon Kindle adapter. One I found was, you don’t have to keep pushing the on/off button to cycle through the settings in order to turn it off, just press and hold and it turns off after a couple of seconds.

I often ride at night on unlit roads and green lanes, and have found it to be quite up to the job, and excellent value. The photo shows it on full brightness.

20. 000 Lumen, is a lie! This is the first thing i must say. This lamp, only produces about 700lumen, and this is way more than sufficient for a city night ride, in areas where public lights are not very powerful.

For night ride, in absolute dark envoirement, i would advise the use of a more powerful headlamp, with a wider range. Contruction is very good for the money, it stays for about 1/houers full power non stpo, and then, it just goes down dead.

Little heavy, not very practical for fast riding situations, where bumps may deteriorate it’s support. I was able to hear some inside noise, due to battery shaking. An issue to correct in the future.

Overall appreciation is very positive, although the not positive aspects already mentioned above.

I can honestly recommend this product. I also have an earlier version with another style of clamp which was a pain. The clamp finally broke but this version with an upgraded clamp works better. There are enough lumens even in minimum setting and batteries hold up at least over 3 hours commuting to work 15 minutes at a time.

Another plus are the replaceable batteries which can be replaced for premium ones at some stage, I suspect the original chinese batteries will not last forever. The on off switch is quite sensitive which could be a problem.

Once it had turned the light on in my jacket pocket on a coat rack at work for some time and the pocket was quite hot, I don’t know if it could eventually have melt or set the jacket on fire.

Mit dem 99mini Pure 25 gibt es keinen Vergleich. Er hat keine Fernbeleuchtung, aber damit braucht man sie nicht.

Ich fahre einen focus mk3 mit halogen Scheinwerfern und die supernova steht dem Licht meines Autos in nichts nach , eher im Gegenteil.

Ich kann die Lampe definitiv empfehlen auch für den e8000.

Awesome product! I love the fact that the front light can double as a hand torch. The beam from the front torch is very bright! It can be easily adjusted by turning the casing which focuses the beam.

The on/off is a simple soft-touch button on the rear of the torch at the base. I’ve been using the product on and off now for probably a month. The fixings have all stayed in place despite my commute going over some very bumpy roads! I would recommend these lights to others and I would buy again.

When I converted to flat handlebars on my road bikes I needed a solution to mounting a headlight because the Light and Motion lights I had used for years only fit on round bars. Trek’s Blendr mount is the slickest, cleanest mount available.

I ride with a group early in the morning and lights are required. Most of the riders have Trek Project One bikes and some also use the Bontrager Blendr light and mount. We do the same ride each morning.

It is about 90 minutes in length and I run the light mostly on the lowest solid (non flashing) setting, switching to a more powerful mode for about ten minutes while we are on a dark bike trail; the rest of the ride on low.

I charge the light after each ride. In only two seasons I have had five lights fail. They last a few weeks or months. Each time the shop has exchanged the lights. This week it happened again, another failure.

The light stops working during a ride and no longer will take a charge, just suddenly stops working completely. Other riders in our group also have had Bontrager light failures. The previous Light and Motion lights I used lasted for several seasons.

Based on my experience I cannot recommend the lights. However, I will keep using them because they are the only option to use with Blendr. I now carry an extra Ion Pro in my jersey pocket because I know the light on my handlebars will fail, based on experience.

When they work, they work great and I love the clean mounting via Blendr. But unless you are using them on a Blendr mount, I would get a different brand for sure.

Owned for two years after being recommended in a shop. Previously had two or three Exposures which were good, but always packed up after a year. This performs beyond what I expected given the fairly modest lumen count, but the guy in the shop convinced me that the lumen number isn’t the whole story, in the same way that some 1.

2 litre cars are faster and more economical than other 1. 5 litre cars. With all that said, if they bought out a more powerful version I’d be first in the queue. Two years use on road and MTB including many really really wet rides and a crash big enough to rip it off the bars, snapping the bracket and sending the light spinning down the path.

yeah, ouch! Still going strong. Charges quickly enough and lasts easily for 2 to 3 hour rides. Rarely need the highest setting. Won’t pair to a wahoo.
