20 Best Motor Oil For High Mileage Vehicle (2023 Updated)

I’ve honestly used a number of different oil brands in my F250 now; there’s really only a few brands that can go the distance with my twin turbocharged F250 Super Duty! All the others seem to break down and lose their viscosity rather quickly! Castor is my go-to for my trucks oil every time to keep that motor protected and allow it to run at the highest peak it can possibly run on at all times! Of course the only place that never lets me down in knowing that what I need for my truck, including the motor oil when it’s calling for it! Is Oreilly’s every time! Hands down no doubt about it!!.

2013 Malibu eco 60,000 miles. Because of the known issue with the weak piston rings and severe blow by on the 2. 4L engines, I was adding about 2. 5 quarts of oil in 5000 miles. Check oil every 500 miles.

Switched to mobile 1 full synthetic at about 35000 miles. Nothing changed. Changed to Pennzoil at 45000 miles. Used about a quart and a half in 5000 miles. Changed to Castrol edge titanium full synthetic at 55000.

Always Used same weight. 5w30. It has used less than a quart in 5000 miles and although it’s hard to measure by eye it does look like less blow by from port on valve cover when hot at idle. Looks like this is the new oil for the Malibu from here on out.

My comments is not on the product BUT the delivery. There was a leak in one of the plastic container. You can see the stain on the brown box before opening. They must know because they place plastic liner to contain the leak; also the invoice, oil stained, in the box has somebody’s name and different price.

Since there was still good amount oil left I choose not to return. Too messy. Took pictures of the stained box. Should have replaced the leaking container.

I’ve got a ’91 Nissan Pathfinder with 305,000 miles on it and this is what I use. She’s still running the same as ever, so this stuff seems okay to me! Also, this oil was recommended to me by a mechanic that I truly trust (I know everyone says this), but he had nothing to gain being retired and living 4 states away from me.

I also use it in my BMW with 235,000 miles.

Castrol Synthetic oil is a proven quality. No much that I need to say about that. I been using Castrol oil for decates and never disapoint me. Neverless, I always change the engine oil at or less than 3,000 miles.

Don’t follow some manufactures or dealers guideline of changing the oil every 5,000 miles. Another thing is that I always change it myself because I don’t trust the mechanic shops.

Excellent synthetic oil. Most auto manufactures recommend 5W-30 oil only because they do not know where that vehicle will be operated. Areas with brutal winter temperatures like the northern states require a lighter 5W oil.

This is not the case in the south where temperatures only require a 10W weight oil. 5W weight oil is to thin for engines operated in milder climates as in the southern states. Unless you operate your vehicle in extreme cold, use 10W-30, you can’t go wrong.

Better yet, if you operate your vehicle in consistent mild climates, a staight weight oil like 30 weight will give more reliable protection without the viscosity enhancers which can break down leaving the oil’s viscosity at its lowest point.

In example, 10W-40 can break down to a staight 10 weight oil.

I have always used Castrol motor oils in my vehicles. When I purchased my 2014 Chevy Impala 3. 6L V6, a directed engine that requires synthetic oil type, I tried Castrol Edge. Normally you are required to change your oil at 3,000 miles.

The factory specifications calls for 5w-30 but I chose to go slightly thicker with 10w-30 because of the extreme Texas heat. After pulling the dip stick around this point the oil hasn’t really changed color and the reading was still full.

I didn’t change the oil just yet. Then so on I performed only weekly checks to ensure the levels were normal. I was able to go 6340 miles on this oil change and I noticed less oil burn off. I was amazed.

My engine performs excellent under extreme temperatures and runs quiet. I would definitely recommend this oil to anyone. This product is a MONEY saver!!!! The price for the quality, extended protection, and the power when you need it is A1!!! Do not cheap out with a good oil for your engine, it is not worth it!!.

I have used Mobile 1 since 1978 and it has been the best oil I could buy. It saved my butt on Christmas morning as there was a huge snowstorm Xmas morning in 83′. Expressways were shut down due to high winds, drifting snow and temperatures at -30 F.

We spent Xmas eve at an emergency storm shelter. That morning, out of 50-80 cars, trucks & buses. My car and one other were the only ones that would start. Mobile 1 oil does not thicken in extreme cold weather like conventional oil.

My engines never had sludge build up like other cars and I typically keep my cars to 200K miles.

The opposite of convenient. I have been doing the same thing with the same product with every other auto parts store for many years. The longest it ever took to get the – it’s ready to be picked up has been 30 minutes, until Oreillys.

It not only took several hours for someone to walk 20 feet over a jug of oil, they sent the email minutes before they closed, so I had to wait for something every other place had. When I did pick up the oil, the guy was a jerk.

I will never be back. In a nutshell – you are employed by lazy people who give people like me many reasons to go anywhere but your place to shop. You should all do 2 things as far as I’m concerned. Be ashamed, and find a new line of work.

I’ve used Mobil 1 from Auto Zone since I bought my 2016 Mazda CX-5. It’s performing like the day I bought it. Mobil One can be bought anywhere, but, when you buy from Auto zone you get mare than the others.

I usually buy a 5 quart container and filter. The one time I couldn’t get the 5 quart container, AutoZone gave me 5 one quart containers for the same price. Additionally the filter that came with the deal was out so they upgraded me to a better filter.

I’m a veteran and they applied the 10% discount to an already good deal.

been using this oil for years in my classic vehicles, works well, no sludge when changing or removing valve covers, easy to pour, sometimes requires a funnel depending on the entrance area of the vehicle, especially if pouring through the rocker/valve covers if they do not have a large hole as the cap and neck on the bottle is larger than many of the older oil quart bottles.

The packaging is an attractive grey colour, easy on the eyes and easy to locate in the store. Package is great size for storing on the shelf in a workshop, actually can place many next to each other as the shape is rectangular, not round which wastes space regarding packaging and storage.

I believe the oil actually likes and prefers to be allowed to flow between the space between the bearings and crankshaft, which is quite a smell space , but it is not opposed to flow around the pistons and between the camshaft and lifters, and also inside the lifters up to the rockers.

Very smart oil, I have had some that were not pleased to lubricate as many areas and had to replace them. This oils does flow well thru the hole in the bottom pan after removing the drain plug, even though it really doesn’t want to exit the engine, it would prefer to continue working.

I have also placed this oil in a squirt can to oil other mechanical entities, and of course it is quite happy to assist in areas other than just engines, like linkages, hinges, etc. I find this oil is also compatible with oil filters, flowing through easily, not leaking out, but that would really be the function of the filter, sticking well but easily traveling through the filter pleats.

One major issue is the mess that occurs if the can is knocked over with the cap off.

If you change your own oil and want a good brand name oil like Mobil. This is the oil for you. The oil is rated for 5000 miles and the container is five quarts. I like to change my own oil in all my vehicles I own The oil lubricates the internal parts to your vehicle for up to 5000 miles and when I replace the oil after 4000 miles of wear and tear The oil looks and feels like you can leave it in the vehicle another 1,000 miles I change the oil and oil filter every 4,000 miles and my vehicles last for years, don’t smoke or burn any oil.

Use a good quality oil like Mobil products and you will have a reliable oil in your motor while you are driving.

Wal-Mart warehouse via internet sales still carried this hard to find item still – I’m sure when the warehouse is empty Wal-Mart won’t offer it either, they along with other stores have dropped it off the store shelves.

So thank you Wal-Mart for having such a big Warehouse and a great staff from internet to the guys that use muscles in getting the product to the door step in record time. My Son can still drive his American made great old truck for a while longer knowing Wal-Mart could cover the engine needs for a little while longer before the oil industry has everyone using Synthetic oils in your older conventional oil engines and find out that it will make your seals and inlets plug.

If you’ve got an old Jeep, especially one with a 4. 7 HO, this is the best oil for it. Those engines tend to sludge up and this tends to fight it. Just don’t push it all the way to the 5000 mile mark between changes.

They had the best price on Liqui Moly oil! I couldn’t even assemble the kit cheaper if I wanted to. Others may have Liqi Moly kits but they use a cheap filter. I was impressed that I ordered the oil change kit around 11:00 am and Fed Ex arrived the next day with my parts.

I will continue to use FCP for may parts purchases when possible. FCP Euro has made a fan out of me!.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleI purchased my VW Golf MK6 TDI at 19k miles not long ago. I had it for less than one. Change the oil at 25k miles with Liqui Moly. I noticed the difference when I turned the car on, and also when you start to get going.

The car ran quieter and way smoother with Liqui Moly. My car has a DPF so with this oil the filter will last long as well. When I purchased the car, it was running on castrol, but didn’t what type/formula the dealer put in.

Great oil. would buy again.

I have used Redline 5/30 on my 2006 MIni Cooper S. for the past few years. It has 77,200 miles, and recently had the Valve cover gasket replaced. My Mechanic, was surprised to see the cleanliness of engine once he took off the cover.

He was so impress, he took these photos for my and wanted to know my replacement intervals. I replace the oil on average every 5 thousand miles. Redline ‘s cleaning capability is amazing.

A friend of mine told me about Red Line oil and was not sure about purchasing it due to cost. I am very happy that I purchased the Red Line oil and used it for our 2010 Ford Fusion, 2004 Lexus LS430, 1950 Oldsmobile 88 Rocket and 2020 Toyota Tundra.

The 2010 Ford Fusion was running good, and once I put Red Line oil in it the engine could not be happier! Never going back to any other oil. I am sold. Jeff.

This is a really top quality oil. I changed to Redline 5w30 in my brand new camaro at 1600km. Wasn’t really expecting too much difference from the factory original Mobil 1 oil but immediately after the change, the engne was noticeable smoother and quieter.

A ticking sound at idle just completely dissappeared! It climbs the rev range so smoothly. This is an expensive oil, but if you love your car and want it to last, its hard to go past this oil. I will keep using this oil at my next oil change.

I worked for Mobil and ExxonMobil in their Lubricants and Lubrication Sciences RD for 22 of my 41 years in this line of work. Mobil always had a no compromise attitude about MOBIL 1 engine oils. This one is their Premier Product in the MOBIL 1 engine oil line – you can be guaranteed it is great ! ! !I witnessed two BMW 318i vehicles run on Mobil 1 for over 1 million miles back during the 1990s and when the engines were torn down afterwards, the lubricated parts all appeared actually like brand new – still had the original machining marks ! ! ! Now that is great testament to a great engine oil ! ! !.

Bought my 2011 Nissan Frontier in 2014 with 48,000 miles. Used Ester oil until it became 15. 00 qt. Savey mechanic said use Mobil 1 full synthetic high mileage up to 20,000 miles. Glad I did, my truck now has 202,700 miles on it and actually runs better then the ester oil did.

When I took it in this last time the mechanic said he could not believe how clean my engine was for the amount of miles it had!!! Let me know my engine is still strong. Of course the dealership tried to get me to trade it in.

2012 Jeep Liberty with 248,000 Miles. Have been using Mobil 1 synthetic oil since day one. Mobile one high mileage full synthetic since 100,000 Miles. I changed the oil every 6,000 miles and use a K&N or Mobil 1 synthetic oil filter.

I do add one quart of Lucas full synthetic oil stabilizer on every oil change. Combination of full synthetic Mobil 1 and Lucas I feel like I can get 500,000 miles on my vehicle. I would recommend this oil to anyone who has a high mileage vehicle.

The tests dont prove the longevity and cleaning aspects of engine oilsMy review:I went on this quest on YouTube and forums online to find the best synthetic 5W30 for my Tacoma. I checked out Home Deliveries USA Basics and Shell Rotella as well as this Mobil 1 and Supertech.

All are great oils, I found that the Shell oil had slightly miniscule more harmful metals than Mobil 1 but less than Home Deliveries USA oil. I also learned these companies will take out or add different things to have the SN plus badge which may take away from the longevity of the lubricating or cleaning qualities.

Home Deliveries USA doesnt have a write up for their oil like most other companies including Wal-Mart which is supposed to be the same Warren oil. For that simple fact I took it out of my choices. Home Deliveries USA and Wal-Mart are known to find the cheaper oils to resell and may end up changing in the future from Warren.

Mobil 1 is a trusted name and has all the requirements of a synthetic oil anyone should need. I have not experienced burning or loss of oil in either of my vehicles, one of which has 270,000 miles on it.

I dont run my oil 10 or 20,000 miles or whatever people are doing lately. I change my oil between 3 and 5000 miles which I know for certain is good and healthy maintenance to keep my engine running clean and strong.

I recommend that for everyone regardless of what these companies are claiming. I trust myself and my maintenance schedule. None of these companies are going to replace my engine if what they are claiming is false.

Mobil 1 is the oil Toyota uses from the factory and this along with my small research is enough for me.

IšverstiShow in original language1998 Tacoma, I used to drive this truck for 250miles/day, Using Castrol-GTX/3000miles. Soon as it reached 1500miles, gpm went from 20 to 17. I tried every things that people recommended on the internet to improve gpm.

sparkplug changed every 25k-30kmiles(do not use Bosh Platinum, just OEM Nippon Denso plug). Nothing worked. Soon as I switched over to Mobil1 Sync with OEM oil filter. My truck drove better, smoother, quieter and gpm remain @20gpm until the next oil changed which is 10Kmiles.

You can see the Viscosity of the oil remain the same, just darker. So I switched all my whole family vehicles(5 Toyotas, sedan-truck-van-SUV) to used this type of oil since 2000. Since I maintenance all vehicles myself, this 10kmiles oil change save me a lots of times and $$$$.

Let me tell you an impressive story about this oil. I gave my son the truck for his college years, in 4year. When the truck did not run(because of the MAF sensor clogged), he called me to come checked the truck, there was no oil on the dipstick.

DRIED!!!! Soon as I cleaned the MAF, I cranked the engine, it started right away. there is no issue with the engine. I still driving it now. over 200kmiles/24yrs still running like new. why buy new vehicles since mine run and looks like new plus paid off.

I would say this is the best oil out there in the market. It keeps your engine quiet & sometimes you can’t even tell you car running. It also gives you better gas mileage & horsepower. Car runs very smooth & it doesn’t burn oil at all.

I didn’t know oil makes that much difference. I will continue to use this oils & I will order this from summit racing cause they have the best price & fast delivery.

My 2006 Hummer H3 with 200K+ miles runs smoother than ever with this stuff. I’ve been using it for quite some time now. Be sure to follow Royal Purple’s instructions on their site when switching to their oil for optimal results.

This oil brought my dog back to life. It was amazing how he’s been dead as hell for 8 years then a crusty dog skeleton just climbs out of the ground like that. Highly recommend if you’ve ever killed something or someone I’m not judging.

This stuff seems to work like it has synthetic properties even though it’s “premium conventional” oil; in fact it seems to make my 383,000 mile (yes you read that right) 99 Nissan Maxima’s engine run smoother than the full synethetic I tried at my last oil change, and I still don’t have to change it at any less than about 8,000 miles.

One more thing–there are a LOT of people on the review thread for this product mistaking this for Mobil 1 full synthetic oil which it is NOT–it’s not even a blend–it’s a “premium full conventional” oil, but it works as well as full synethetic at least in my opinion for a MUCH cheaper price.

I own a Cub Cadet GT3200 tractor with a 25 HP Kohler engine. I have used Mobil 1 since breaking in the tractor. Today my dealer replaced a blown head casket and I have un retouched photos of the inside on this engine.

Amazing as to the cleanliness. I would like to send them to you so you could use them in a commercial.

with this only being conventional High Mileage Oil It still gets twice the amount of miles between changes of the standard 10w/30 Mobil motor oil. Toyota Tercels with normal motor oil you have to change them between after 2500 to 3200 driving miles.

upgrading to the high mileage over 75k on motor has also extended between oil changes to between and after 5500 to 6800 miles as I look at the condition of the oil on the rags when checking the oil on my 1997 Toyota Tercel ce starts getting dark at 5500 and darker at 6500 change you oil as you see fit between 5500 to 7000 k using this oil.

I used this in a 2011 Buick Lucerne 3. 9 as it doesn’t see a lot of highway runs. The shorter runs are hard on conventional oils, and I like that this is good for a year or 12,000 miles. This car sees 7500 miles a year or so, so I figure this lets me change it once a year, and it’ll be alright.

It gets one good highway run a month or so, and there’s no condensation on the oil cap, so it does burn off that water. I waited to change the spark plugs too so I could see how much quieter and smoother the engine was just from the oil.

There was some improvement, but it was on factory plugs, so that helped a lot. Highway fuel mileage has increased (measured AND trip computer) by ~1. 5mpg, and city up by over 2mpg. If you’re looking to use an oil for a vehicle with not a lot of miles on it that would fall inside this 12,000 mile a year OCI, this could be the oil you’re looking for.

I’ve been using Amsoil for 26 years. This is my second 3. 5 eco boost Ford PU. I tow either an 18’ enclosed trailer with up to 5 motorcycles a 22’ IO deck boat. Oil pressure stays the same regardless of ambient temperature or load.

Oil temperature and engine temperature are the same bob tail or towing. I change the oil every 5K miles. No turbo issues or cam phaser issues with my 2014 or 2020. I also use Amsoil in my boat and motorcycles.

No consumption or indications of issues. Yes, it costs a bit more but peace of mind is worth it.

I have been using Valvoline every sense I was a young man. It has never failed me. I drove one of my vehicles to 178,000 miles , had a manifold leveling. After taking off the manifold the mechanic ask me what type oil I used, I told him valvoline.

He said it was one of the cleanest motors inside that he has worked on. I use ,Valvoline in everything I have, cars, trucks, motorcycles, and 4 wheelers. I will never use anything else.

As a buyer of a one owner used Ford Ranger (2009 V-6) with 75, 000 mile went with Valvoline Max semi-synthetic 5-30W. I go around 3000 miles with Motocraft oil filter. As a matter of fact my final trucking job before retiring included our account the Ford Plant in St.

Paul Minnesota. That’s where this truck was made and I worked out of there at times. We hauled the engines ,tranny’s and tires to plant and spotted trailers there. The plant is closed,I am retied but proudly drive a Ranger we helped build.

Trust Valvoline 100%.

I’ve used this for my 2005 Chevy Tahoe when it had 150k mile and now I just picked it up for my 2013 Dodge Charger v6 with a little over 100k miles. I wouldn’t do full synthetic unless you got 180-200k miles so anything under that, I recommend “Synthetic Blend!” And valvoline is my only choice when it comes to oil! I also combine it with an STP high mileage filter too!.

I sold that to buy a 73 Camara rebuilt that engine. I met my wife and now needed a family car so I moved up to 1977 ford Ltd building high milage again. I next bought 2 ford escorts followed by 2 ford are star mini vans putting on over 160,000 miles on and over 175,000 miles on th he other.

I now drive a 2005 Ford Explorer and currently have over 230,000 miles on it. I’ve listed all the vehicles because I’ve used nothing but Quaker State Oil in all these vehicles. None of my engines have ever burned any oil.

I’ve changed oil in my son and daughters vehicles since they started driving and still change the oil in our vehicles using nothing but Quaker State Oil in those as. I would say I’ve driven between 750,000 miles to 1 million miles on nothing but Quaker State Oil without an engine breakdown.

I’ve just recently started using the high milage Quaker State Oil and am just as pleased with the results as before. I’ve used quaker state oil in my motorcycle as well as lawnmowers and snowblowers.

I have no reason not to recommend quaker state oils to anyone. A truely great product being recommend by a well satisfied customer. Thank you Quaker State.

IšverstiShow in original languageI’ve been using the Defy High Mileage in an ’08 4 cylinder with 100K on her. The first few oil changes the oil was like water (thin) and very had a very “dirty” appearance.

During that time I also noticed a very slight “burning oil” scent in the exhaust. 1st Oil change with Defy- oil was still “oil consistency”. 2nd Oil change with Defy- consistency AND cleanliness had improved.

I purposely tried sniffing out the “burning oil” scent- and since then- none detected. I’m a believer in this product now- Unlike many products that “Promise A Lot”. this product has proven itself!.

Have used QS DEFY since they hit 75000 miles. My problem is. That with over 220000 miles on my vehicles I sometimes have to add a half quart to a quart between oil changes. Which I expect. Problem is if I only need a half or even a quart.

I don’t want to have to buy a 5 quart jug, just to get a quart. But for the last couple months the only way I can QS defy motor oil, is in the 5 quart jug. Do you not put in quart bottles any more? Starting to think I may have to change brands.

So I can get oil when I just need a quart. I have always recommended QS products to everyone. But now, Why should you recommend a product, when you know you may not be able to find it when you need it.

Or the quantity, you need when you need it.

I’ve used mobile 1 since I can remember. My Z just turned 202k. Been running mobil 1 in it since I purchased it with 25k on it. I’m very tentative about how I change oil as well, I drain, refill with new, run it for a few minutes to clean out what’s still in the cooler, block & lines etc, because I just don’t believe in dropping the plug and draining what’s in the pan.

Then after it’s run with the new oil I drain it and use compressed air thru the oil filter Orpheus to completely rid every drop of oil remaining in the system. People poke fun and say I’m crazy, but they then wonder why my vehicles last ridiculously amounts of mileage never requiring repairs.

I’ve done this with all my vehicles and it’s proof that it works, and Mobile 1 products are what they say they are. Ive disassembled engines after running mobile 1 products and am always amazed how clean they appear internally.

Laugh all u want about my method, but my odometer always tells the tale and dispells the haters. Mobil 1 products are the ONLY products I will ever use in my vehicles, hands down no question.

What can I say about synthetic motor oil? Aside from the color of the container and the pretty label, it didn’t look any different than other synthetic oils on the shelf. Since my vehicle is “mobile”, I purchased the “Mobil” oil.

Wasn’t too concerned about the mispelling because the pronunciation was the same whether the “e” was there or not. The price did make me question why I have a vehicle that requires synthetic motor oil.

Holy boogers it is pricey. Nonetheless, I’m almost certain the cost is worth it, or I’m just as stupid as everyone else buying “the best” synthetic motor oil. Well, I bought 2 quarts, a big oil conglomerate made $20, it’s in my engine, and my engine didn’t complain.

Surely, it would have spit it back in my face had the flavor been off or it was expired and stinky like warm sour cream. The truth is that I was so excited to put this oil in my engine that I forgot to put the oil cap back on.

200 miles later, I went to check the oil and low and behold the cap was sitting right there on the fan shroud. Silly me, I’m an idiot. But gosh darnit, my engine is full of oil, it’s running the same as it did before, and I’m sure this oil had nothing to do with it except raise the oil line on the dipstick.

This brand is top notch for your vehicle. It has a proprietary ingredient that elevated it’s performance above the others. It will properly lubricate your car, prevent the viscosity from changing to a disadvantageous thickness.

Cleans your engine. Works while you put your vehicle under stressful working conditions or if you are a daily driver. Helps engine to last much longer. It really works. If you haven’t been using it by now, start.

You will notice a difference. The price you pay for this is worth it down the road when you don’t get a CEL costing your hundreds, if not thousands. Helped my old 03 pilot get to 316650 miles with OEM tranny and engine, that’s a rare sight with that year.

No problems when I sold it. I told them to keep it going, use Mobile 1.
