20 Best Lower East Side Bars (2023 Updated)

These steps are awesome. I don’t really need them for myself, but my wife is somewhat vertically challenged and absolutely loves them. This was the Jeep upgrade she instead upon. And they were extremely easy to install.

Just read the instructions and follow their recommendation on what goes where first, etc. I only had to remove the first one once. LOL! Yep, I did that. And finally, they look awesome on my 4-door Jeep Wrangler.

My wife loves them. It’s Her Jeep. Aesthetically looks great. Assembly required multiple parts. However, all clearly labeled front/middle/rear. That’s was my job. Definitely would NOT TAKE OFF-ROAD where BOULDERS or skid plate needed.

They’re not designed for it and would get destroyed. Trails and dirt roads are enough.

I received two sets of these and ended up buying a set of Barricade rails instead. The first set showed up, and were clearly damaged at the manufacturer prior to packaging. Powder coat was scratched and one had a big dent in it.

Extreme Terrain was very helpful and sent a new set out right away. Second set had similar damage. Again from the manufacturer. Extreme Terrain was great and very helpful, I did not want to try again with anything form ICI so Extreme Terrain let me exchange for a set of Barricade Rails which were fine.

The look of the ICI steps is nice and it looked like they would work great as step, but the manufacturer needs to handle their product better. Also, the ICI steps are not very durable, they metal is pretty thin and should not be confused with a product that would hold up to any offroad abuse.

Light, good range of sizes (widths) and they provide a comfortable amount of flex with a very ergonomic flare angle which sits well with the natural position of your hands but there are a few negatives worthy of note.

They come in rather poor packaging, no protection offered by Easton at all, so you are reliant on the retailer for protection in transit – not ideal for carbon bars so check when you receive them that they are safe to use.

The plastic bag offered by Easton is quite poor at this price point. The other negative though, is that there is only one hole on the right hand side of the bars for the internal routing of the Di2 cable, no hole on the left.

Running Di2 internally is fine if you have a dumb lever (shifter) but if you want to use both shifters, left and right, how do you get the Di2 cable across to the left shifter? Easton suggested you run externally from right to left, really?!! crazy oversight in the assumption only the one shifter is used because its a gravel bar for a gravel bike.

Other than this, good set of bars with a school boy error leaving many would-be-purchasers of the bars scratching their heads – “do I drill the bars?”.

I have just received my new EA70 AX 16D handlebar and the first feeling is rather a disappointment. The product features and the specification claims a Di2 compatibility and bar end junction compatibility in the right side, but there are no prepared hole at all.

Not on any of the sides. So I either have to return it to the retailer or have to make the holes by myself. The form and width looks to be perfect for me, but I still want to use my Di2 groupset, thus I need the compatibility.

I’ve been using “flat” bars on my cross-country mountain bike (hardtail) for a LONG time and since I’m getting a little older, I decided to try a riser bar in order to get a more comfortable riding position.

I was interested in one that offered MAX strength, yet still lightweight, so the EA50 seemed perfect. I’m a big rider, 220lbs, I’ve been riding longer than most people have been alive, and the added width and height of this bar compared to my previous Ritchey WCS comp bar makes the EA50 a life saver for me.

So much happier after installing this bar. I also installed one on my wife’s bike!.

These Bars are 750mm wide. I purchased the hi rise which is 40mm high at 200 grams. There are cut marks every 10mm up to 210mm. Nice vivid graphics. I have not been out on the trail with these yet. The quality is excellent.

This bar is super sharp looking on my new Trek Fuel EX9. The green highlights on the bar are a great match for my bike color. The front end definitely shaved some grams (if your counting) with the swap from the stock bar/stem to the Easton Haven bar/stem.

Very happy with this new upgrade.

So far so good. I got the windham bend due to it being my favorite bend. I am switching over from renthal due to them bending in a very minor tip over. I have ran the pro taper bars on my woods bikes and never bent them.

NOTE: the protaper windham bend is the exact same bent the only difference that I noticed is that the bars are about a 1/4 to half an inch shorter on each side. I like this compared to my renthals because it me feel like I have control.

I will still run renthal on my other bikes but for this one only protaper right now. i like both bars but feel the protaper will be the best option for the bike that i have them on now.

It’s a great set of handlebars. I got the blue color and it matches great with the rest of my WR250R. I got the CR High Bend and it fits well, for reference I’m 6’0 w/ average arm length. Originally got it to replace my stock bars that got bent in a minor lowside.

Haven’t gotten into the same crash but I did tip over and the bars are totally fine. One caveat is that it seems that my hand guards don’t fit, the handlebar holes at the end are too small. Somewhat disappointed that they don’t fit my guards (Acerbis Rally) that fit on the stock bars, hope I can find a set that fit.

Lovely looking bars. They are perfect for retro bikes. However, they look and measure wider than expected. I’m going to look for some narrower bars as a result.

The bars are good value and are comfortable to ride on the drop is not to deep for me

Classy looking old school bars, and pretty light weight, too.

I have bought a few pairs of these bars from Sogma, great product and they hide your cables so easy. Not like some other high end internal router bars, you will have no issues at all internally routing these with plenty space and hides your cables really well.

Bars are aero and look amazing on the bike whilst still being comfortable either on the tops, hoods or drops. Great bars and really really lightweight. I will definitely be buying these for my next bike!.

Got this bar as an upgrade. Feels top notch quality and really looks the business too. Good flat top side, with nicely shaped drops. Only reason its dropped a star is that is DOES NOT have any holes/cutouts for internal cable routing option, so cables have to lie under the bar tape in a very thin groove to use.

Not a big issue, just not a full 5* for this product. On a side note, Vanilla work really helpful with delivery information and communication. Very helpful shop – thanks guys and gals.

Bar is a good shape with flat top and shallow drop. There is a very shallow cable groove under the flat portion, but nothing else. I bought the 40cm bar (C-C). There is just enough space on the centre section for a Garmin mount, but it’s tight for some light brackets (my Lezyne mount wouldn’t fit).

The bars are comfortable as they aren’t super-stiff and as a result don’t transmit every road imperfection, which is good. I did fully tape them as comfort is my priority now.

I bought these handlebars to replace the factory ‘buckhorn’ bars on my 1979 Honda CM400T. (I don’t know what Honda was thinking when they designed that ‘buckhorn’ bend but they are truly terrible. ) Anyway with these new bars the transformation to the riding experience of this machine is night to day.

One important note, like other reviewers have noted, the pullback on these bars is NOT 6. 5 ” but closer to 3. 5-4″ (I knew this before I ordered). If you are replacing ‘buckhorns’ you may need a set of bar risers depending on your height and your personal preference.

These are not high-end handlebars (nor would you expect that for the asking price) but like most Emgo products I have purchased they are decent quality and represent good value.

Bought these for my 1980 KZ440, as I wasn’t a fan of the ape-hangers they came with. These bars are great, as they have a similar bend to sport-bars but are longer, which accommodated all the original controls that needed to be put on.

The bars arrived in perfect shape and finish, albeit slightly poking out of the box for shipping. But given that it arrived in solid shape, that didn’t matter much.

I bought these to replace the stock bars on my V65 Sabre so I could have a little more sporty seating position on the bike. I didn’t want to spend too much, and these were a cheap way of trying out a more ergonomic position.

I ordered the satin black bars, and the finish on them was much better than anticipated. Combined with shortening the forks by an inch, these bars help give the big cat the true muscle bike look and feel that was lurking below it’s cruiser-esque styling.

I got this bar because I realized that the 8-year-old position of my road bike was causing neck pain after even short rides. I needed a more upright position, and using these bars with a Nitto “Periscopa” stem–bars in inverted position–fixed that.

I got the ultra-narrow version because I do a fair bit of city riding. Be warned–there’s not a lot of room for shifters and brake levers on these bars–but they *will* accept “reverse” levers. That’s what I used, and the combination of those levers and these bars is wonderfully comfortable.

Great bars, exactly as I’d expected. Alas, after a week of riding, they didn’t prove to be the exact wrist angle I need. the search continues for the perfect handle bar. Not at all a fault of the design – the bars are exactly as advertised.

Bought one, liked it enough to buy one for another bike. If you have a hybrid-style bike that never really felt fun to ride, I recommend trying a swept-back bar like this. Completely changes the feel for the better.

I love the 35 mm diameter. Very stiff and I like the look. Serves the same purpose as a flat top for me. It is a different color black than my Trentacinquinte stem, but not a big deal.

The new fatter bar grips well and is noticeably stiffer. Cool matching stems, mine is black, black. The shorter reach feels out of place on this bar but otherwise comfortable. Typical DEDA high quality.

light yet sturdy handle bar. I have never used a carbon handle bar before because I was sceptical of it’s strength. This handle bar removes all that.

Flat bar on Trek city bike was promoting neck pain; change to Metropolis bar solved the problem, and no more neck pain! Hand position also an improvement, esp. for this type of bicycle, where speed is probably not an issue.

Can’t believe I found this FSA bar for a very good price. Tjis is perfect for my new hardtail mtb.

I used this mustache handlebar while restoring KONA cargo bike. Very nice feel and nostalgic look. Well made handlebar but like most will scratch easy.

These bars should provide the extra height I need for the comfort I am looking for. The only issue I had is that the ends were a little short for all of the switches and stuff on my 2016 Monster 1200.

Everything fits OK but just barely.

It took awhile to receive them, but it was worth the wait. Look great on my Triumph Scrambler.

Made a switch to an MX bar on my KFX 450R. Was having a tough time choosing the right one. Representative went through all the options with me and the bars we landed on couldn’t fit the bill any better.

These bars are the perfect rise and length and Very Light! I wish I had a scale to weigh them but I can assure you if you purchase them weight will not be an issue. Super Happy with this purchase.

Bought this bar as a middle-ground (both price and weight) option for my wife’s hardtail that I’m currently building. A great bar so far considering the price to weight tradeoff, and it looks great on the bike.

PROS: Lightweight, Ergonomic Design, Price, Strong Construction CONS: Moderate Weight.

This is my first time trying this product and I opted for the sea salt caramel flavor because I LOVE caramel. I wanted to love these as I like the idea of a yogurt-based sweet, frozen treat, but these are NOT caramel flavored, they are butterscotch flavored.

The main difference between caramel and butterscotch is that butterscotch is made with brown sugar, which is represented in the ingredients. I’ve never cared for butterscotch so, therefore, will not be purchasing these again.

I WILL be trying another flavor though, as that was my only complaint about them. On another note, I do wish there were more of a variety (perhaps more fruit flavors) of flavors besides the many chocolate options, as I can’t eat chocolate.

The birthday cake flavor will probably be my next foray into Yasso bars. Looking forward to it!.

Stiff, light, superior craftsmanship. I only ride Thomson gear so this review may come across as biased. These handlebars have a feel them unlike many of the alloy road bars I have used (looking at you EA70s).

Excellent finish, stem markings for adjustment, and provide super feedback even on rough roads.

I have owned several carbon bars over the years. (FSA, Easton). This bar is at least as well made – to my non-expert eye. It is comfortable up top and the underside has a deep enough well to fully “hide” your cables without the loss of integrity that comes with internal routing.

Coupled with a Thomson X2 stem I expect years of worry free riding.

Superb quality. Good in criterium and drag sprint.

Avid cyclists know that some say handlebars with risers on road and gravel bikes are just ugly. Others love them! It really depends on what kind of fit you are looking for. The drop on these, accompanied by the 15 mm rise, place the flat top on the bar higher by 15 mmm, while effectively raising the drop to 115 mm compared to a bar with a similar drop but no riser.

If those are the changes you are looking for, this one’s for you! The flare is not as pronounced as with some of the other brands and adjusting Shimano shifters to feel just right from the drops as well as the hoods is possible, as long as the reach suits your hands.

The curvature in the flared drop in itself does not present a problem as it is smooth and subtle. A lot of gravel bars have popped up on the market, some with extreme designs. This bar from Specialized manages to add to comfort while maintaining a stylish flair, while offering the flare you need for better control on gravel or road.

This handlebar is sold through distributors all over the country (and I am sure, around the world). The drop was designed to be 103 mm as stated on every reseller website, with information from Specialized.

However this company that prides it self in engineering and charges premium prices by boasting about the same could not get 103 versus 130 right. These handlebars have a drop of 130 mm, NOT the industry-distinguishing 103mm claimed.

It’s not just a typo either, the packaging lists the drop at 103 and the description talks about the comfortable shallow drop. Did someone drop the ball in design and engineering, manufacturing, quality control? Seems to be all three! Response to me from Specialized was that AFTER I notified them they checked and yes, it is 130 mm.

But then, no solution, they signed off with a “happy peddling”. In other words “you customers don’t matter and you pay the price for our mistakes”. So confidence inspiring! :).

Have run several different sets of bars. Some were too stiff others felt too flexible. These are just right. Their great for those thrashing days and provide the feel you need. They also are just right for those long days in the saddle.

Just completed a 55 mile ride on them. Not sure how Enve managed to make a set of bars that work no matter what you do but they did. Thought they were pricey till I rode with them.

I got these because the stock carbon bars from my 130/120 mtn bike felt too flexible. I was skeptical about such stout bars on a mid travel, but I was trying to firm up my front end. Probably not as much dampening over fast chatter as my original bars.

More solid though. I cut them to 800.

Solid bar choice. First off the bar was packaged really well. It comes with an ENTIRE sheet of different colored logo stickers for your bars. That way you can color match so everything looks good on your setup.

The black color is flawless and the bar feels really good. Great attention to detail by Enve, who come thru with a solid bar.

I got this bar to replace an old bar on an 80’s era bike. I’d been shopping for a bar with very specific dimensions regarding reach, drop and width. This bar fit the mold exactly and I couldn’t have been happier with the price! For the weight weenies this is probably a tad heavy: mine was in the 240g range for the 44m wide.

But for what I was looking for, all I cared about were the dimensions for comfort on longer rides. I can hang out in the drops on this for 30+ minutes at a time (in a headwind) and be perfectly comfortable.

Riding on the flattened tops is also super comfortable. And the short reach makes chilling on the hoods much easier on the neck and shoulders. This is of course all relative to my old bar, but it was a pretty standard dimension race bar.

I’d recommend this bar to anybody looking for a good compromise between performance (weight) and comfort. and for the price in Jenson it simply cannot be beat. I’ve already got 2 buddes who tried my bar and have ditched their $150+ bars and bought this one instead.

PROS: Width, price, Comfort, Reach, Drop CONS: none.

The weight is 315g for 380mm (c-c) size. Heavy! But if you don’t mind, can be a good option. PROS: Strong Construction, Good Design CONS: Heavy.

These handlebars help fix numb hands from long hours of riding, and gives you more to ‘grab’ for climbing. The shallow reach/drops also help address shoulder/neck pain and discomfort. I’m not a racer anymore, so helped fix my problem of less flexibility as time goes on.
