20 Best Low Sodium Hot Sauce (2023 Updated)

This sauce has an amazing amount of unique flavor. It almost has a mustard quality. I love the complexity of flavors and its subtle heat means you can use it on nearly everything. I’ve written a few reviews tonight and have become a broken record about my disdain for watery sauces.

This one isn’t one of those. It is substantial which allows its subtlety to hold up wherever it’s used. This sauce needs to be tried and reviewed by many, many more people. It seems to be an under-the-radar find right now.

It deserves to be at the top of the lists. I can assure you it will always have a place in our fridge.

Honestly I’m at a loss with this one because it is so robust and you can practically put it on everything. The jalapeno for the initial bite, the habanero for the sneak attack, but balanced by the pineapple and turmeric.

I’ve put this on tacos, sandwiches, burgers, anything really. Totally worth a whirl.

Fantastic flavor. Turmeric and other ingredients make a healthy, delicious sauce for sandwiches chips eggs …just about anything. I hope HEATONIST can carry the slightly hotter black label version too.

The creator of this sauce is a great guy and serves accolades.

Several years ago, I bought my first bottle of hot sauce, Ring Of Fire. I loved it, devoured it and then the store I bought it from closed and moved out of Toronto. Luckily I found it on the site and made a big order or several hot sauces, but it was all about getting back together with Ring Of Fire.

It’s really the top hot sauce for me and I promise to never be apart from it again. Also, all of the mango and pineapple hot sauces are 10 out of 10.

What a nice sauce! This is a moderately spicy (at least for me) sauce that has a nice little bit of heat. I would consider this as a go-to everyday sauce. It goes well with a lot of things, steak, chicken, pork, etc.

A little bit of smokiness would not be good for some ethnic dishes, but overall a really good sauce.

Excellent flavour, medium heat. Really enriches the taste of your dish, I use it in Shepherd’s Pie for a new twist on classic comfort food. You could probably even use this as a salsa for nachos. Highly recommend.

Keep this in stock at all times!!! (Would have included a pic, but I ate all the Shepherd’s Pie cuz Ring of Fire’s Garden Fresh made it so delicious).

This was a decent sauce. It wasn’t all that spicy, but had a lot of flavor. My issue is that I didn’t like the turmeric flavor as much as I thought I would. If you like turmeric a lot, this is definitely a great sauce for you.

My only other complaint is that it’s a very thick sauce, and a bit tough to get out of the bottle. That would be more acceptable for a super spicy sauce, but this ain’t it.

This sauce is fantastic. It literally can be used on anything. I mix it in when my soup, chili, and also squirt into a nice fry sauce! I add it to hot dogs and I add to my eggs. There literally isn’t anything of which I wouldn’t add this to.

It’s not so over powering that you cannot taste the ghost pepper flavor, that’s the feature that takes it over the top for me. The heat (while hot) doesn’t kill the beautiful pepper flavor.

Ever since I discovered this hot sauce in the US in 2019, I instantly fell in love. It was the perfect “everyday” hot sauce for me, just the right amount of heat without it being overpowering, and with distinctive flavours that doesn’t just bleed away into the heat.

The fresh and natural ingredients that Melinda’s uses in their sauce is huge too, and I hope more hot sauce manufacturers follow their lead. But I was having a hell of a time trying to find this brand for sale in Canada.

Chilly to the rescue! And not only do they stock this brand for us Canadians, they sell it at a great price and with good expiry dates. I ordered in Nov. 2020 and received a bottle with an expiry date of May 2022.

It won’t last past 2021, but it’s good to know that Chilly isn’t selling old stock that’s close to expiring.

First time ordering groceries from local WM store to be delivered, and free as a WM member. Very nice, and quick! Needed more hot sauce and the very positive reviews for this brand caught my attention so thought I’d give it a try.

The reviews were dead-on. love this sauce! Definitely a bit more “tangy” than other hot sauces, and not too hot. Other hot sauces tend to have little flavor and only add the “hot”, but this one is different.

Highly recommend.

I now realise that my life before discovering Cholula Hot Sauce was meaningless, being devoid of direction and purpose. Now, all has changed. My direction is straight to the Mexican aisle of Waitrose and my purpose is to consume as much Cholula as possible.

I’m currently getting through one bottle every two days. I put it on everything, including my hair when taking a shower – it is that good! You really must try it.

Try Cholula but beware it is addicting! I actually tried Cholula Original Hot Sauce in a restaurant on an omelet and I just loved it. Hot sauce has been in attendance at every meal except cereal, which we don’t eat anyway.

Our fridge has seen a brand evolution, of sorts. Certain brands did not even pass the fingertip test, yeah, we can’t risk it. We have had some bad flavor profiles. For me, Cholula has the perfect level of lingering heat and peppery flavor, with a bit of a tart.

Sometimes I like an extreme hot experience, but I am not a fan of hot sauce that burns your tonsils off before you know you ate it. Cholula is good for anytime.

Just like The Bomb beyond Insanity this one is a real scorcher that hits the tongue like a red hot tattoo gun. I have tasted what 1 and 2 million scollville taste like and this one felt hotter ( underated) If you want to test your taste buds assuming you have any left this one will hit just with 2-3 drops.

If you’re looking for some really hot sauce, this is it. This should be labeled as poison. You should need a weapon’s permit to purchase this little devil. I am entirely satisfied with this, as it is even hotter than the “beyond insanity” one.

WARNING: Should you buy this sauce and try it, I recommend you take a touthpick and barely touch the sauce with it. Then gently touch your finger with the said touthpick and taste just a tiny pixel of the sauce.

You will then be in full knowledge of how strong this sauce is, saving you a trip to your local forensic doctor.

Taste much better than Beyond Insanity but still kind of bitter. The heat is pretty strong, it sneaks on you and I could still feel some warmth about 45 minutes later.

This is my way of fighting cold and sore throat. From raw varieties of spicy peppers to dried and hot sauces. I drizzle Chili Habanero sauce to our salads, and everyday breakfast, lunch and dinner. Yes! I would buy this again but bigger size and different flavours.

El Yucateco Green Hot Sauce Bottle, Chile Habanero, 4 Ounce.

I really like that this version of El Yucateco does not have added food coloring. I must admit that I am a slight weakling when it comes to spicy foods, so the extra hot rating scare me a bit. However, this was not too spicy for me but still quite spicy.

I like that this doesn’t have a huge vinegar flavor. It has a smoky taste that I enjoy. There is a taste to the habanero that is not my favorite but the other flavor profiles are worth it. The bottle is easy to pour and gives the right amount each time.

amazing flavor and strong heat. I bought it on a whim but its quickly becoming a staple for me. the taste is distinct from other hot sauces like Louisiana or even Valentina’s. writing this review is making my mouth water! I’ve started eating it plain and wow is the heat intense.

Love the taste off this hot sauce. It is similar in flavor to Baron’s West Indian hot sauce from St. Lucias. It is made with scotch bonnet chilies which are as hot as habaneros but with a subtly different aroma and flavor.

Perfect accompaniment for Jamaican food.

This sauce is fantastic! No meal would be complete without it. It’s mild enough to add to a meal after it’s cooked, and hot enough to cook with.

I’ve tried other products by Melinda (ghost pepper sauce and scorpion pepper sauce) and love them. I saw this on sale so figured I’d try. Its not my favorite hot sauce, but it’s not bad. It says “Extra Hot” but is a bit weak in my opinion.

The flavor isn’t my favorite. Again, not bad but I probably wouldn’t buy this one again.

Love this hot hot hot sauce. Melinda’s delivers again with this flavorful and super spicy sauce. It really compliments chicken tacos or enchiladas. Yummy! Good value for the price. I buy this again and again when I empty a bottle.

I like hot sauces, this was a good flavourful option but honestly did not hit me with as much heat as I was hoping for so I was not that satisfied. There are other options and I found didn’t live up to my expectations and wasn’t worth what I paid as it is fairly expensive.

There are cheaper, better tasting options out there.

The sweetness and savory mix of tropical fruit and spices pair well with just about any food I put this sauce on. I have used this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and 100% love the flavor this brings out.

Great for heat lovers that want as much heat as they do flavor. This is personally my gold standard for sauces.

Love this hot sauce. If you enjoy sweet and spicy, I’m sure you will to. Goes great with most things that could use some hot sauce. I eat a lot of rice bowls and it’s fantastic for them. Asian bowls.

Great flavor, super high quality product. The heat level is great for my whole family with different palates. I typically add it during the final cooking phase of my breakfast burritos and pulled pork to add flavor and a little heat.

I feel a little bad giving this product 2 Stars because Dave’s is such a good brand and Chilly Chile’s is such a great vendor. But this sauce is an imposter. Yes, it’s brutally hot. Yes, it’s tasty once you survive the high.

(And I did indeed experience a brief psychedelic splendor from consuming way too much of this hell fire. ) But look at the ingredients. It’s basically a Habanero sauce artificially enflamed with extract.

Ask yourself what you’re looking for. If it’s Habanero flavor, get a Habanero sauce without extract and enjoy the milder heat. If it’s brutal burn you want, get a Reaper sauce and enjoy its extreme heat.

If you want the Habanero flavor AND its medium-burn isn’t enough for your tongue’s poor pain receptors, consider a sauce blending multiple types of peppers, such as a Habanero/Reaper blend made by Torchbearer.

But if you, brave traveler, really want a purely Habanero taste with the chance to see through time. actually yes this product is exactly what you’re looking for. Also probably good for cooking industrial sized batches of soup or stew.

Just read the label and follow its instructions: ONLY USE DILUTED. Or, whatever, go ahead and make the same mistake I did (over and over. and over again) and consume it at full strength. Just make sure to use a utensil to get it out of the bottle.

you cannot pour single drops from this sucker since it’s so thick. It’ll clump out in a grape-sized mistake. You know what? Never mind. 3 Stars, not 2. Will (attempt to) finish the bottle but not re-order.

I’m not sure what the Scoville unit rating is on this, but I can tell you that about one tablespoon of it is enough to put quite a bit of kick to an entire 13x9x2 inch casserole dish. I love it. I use this and/or Dave’s Ghost Pepper sauce in practically everything I cook.

It’s not for the faint of tongue, though. This sauce burns. And wash your hands after use, because there’s no drip mechanism – the sauce just pours out, so be careful, or you’ll end up adding too much and turning your food into rocket fuel.

Delicious, and spicy enough for even diehard spicy food nuts like me to be satisfied with the heat. But if you want something that will set you on fire, get Satan’s Blood extract. That stuff isn’t made for pouring.

You dip a toothpick in it & use just what sticks to the toothpick to spice up an entire dish.

My wife and I like Dave’s Hurtin Habanero sauce. However, its spicy level is so much less than what I expected from a Habanero sauce. My wife likes this sauce, but she does not like hot sauces and chooses the MILD sauce at Taco Bell.

I like FIRE sauce and eat raw Habanero sliver slices with every bite of food during a meal if I have them available. I had to give this sauce a 1-Star rating because the manufacturer is really deceptive, the sauce does not live up to its name unless you get it in your eyes or I suppose on your privates.

This is the best hot sauce I’ve had. It goes on everything, but it especially tastes good on breakfast foods. It is the perfect spice level and is so tasty. I couldn’t recommend this enough! I am never disappointed when it comes to Louisiana hot sauce!.

This is an absolute staple in our kitchen! So deliciously spicy – but not so spicy you can’t enjoy your meal! Absolutely recommend Louisiana hot sauce to any and every one! A must on any soul food dish!.

If you love SPICE. You can’t live without Goya Hot Sauce. Nothing beats this Hot Sauce. It’s a staple at our house. It gives any dish a perfect little kick that isn’t over the top. It’s a great value and you can almost find it anywhere.

You will not be disappointed. Trust me.

My fav go to hit sauce. Great on pretty much everything. We even make our own custom hot sauce by adding chopped up tomatoes, onions and cilantro. Yum!

This is one of my favorite hot sauces! The flavor if it is really good and has the perfect amount of spicyness to it, not overwhelming at all. It goes with anything too! I eat it with soup, eggs, tacos, pizza, and so much more!.

I first tasted Melinda’s Hot sauce in Belize in the mid 1980’s and have been a faithful customer ever since. I lived in Punta Gorda, Belize for a few years and remember driving up the Hummingbird highway (not really a highway then) and past her farm.

I stopped in a few times to visit and was impressed. In those days it was referred to as “Belizian hot sauce”. There were others, but everyone knew you were asking for her hotsauce. I usually buy the mild by the gallon and have for years since everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Earlier in the year I decided to purchase one of her “collections” and found the Smoked Habanero … now it has become the favorite. The Smoked Habanero make everything taste better.

This is my favorite hot sauce!! Love the flavor and the consistency of the sauce. This sauce has just the right amount of heat and all the flavor. This is my favorite sauce to put on both eggs and pizza!! So good on pizza.

Put some of this in a bowl of chili and the flavors are outstanding. Honestly though put it on pizza and you’ll never use anything again. I have hot sauce that ranges in heat and flavor from your average Tabasco to some of the hottest Carolina Reaper and as far as flavor and taste this is the best!!.

After traveling to Belize and enjoying Marie Sharp’s products there, I’ve been looking for them here in the USA. Finding them online is wonderful! These products are so good. I use the Season-All (Red Recado / Annatto / Achiote Paste) to marinade chicken.

I use the hot sauce on everything (I like the Mango and Original Mild – but I haven’t tried them all). The mango has great flavor and is a little sweet. The Original has such good flavor – I like the mild so I can use more of it without the heat overpowering.

This is one of my all time favorite hot sauces! The smokey, spicy, sweet blend is just perfect! I use it on almost everything I cook! It can be on the spicier side if you are sensitive to heat. I happen to love very spicy foods.

the only downfall is that aside from online the only store that carries it near me is Vallarta. I wish more stores carried it! If you love chipotle you will LOVE this hot sauce!!!.

Some folks want only heat; makes no difference, just so it is HOT. Not me. I like hot, yes, but it also has to have FLAVOR! This product adds heat, certainly, but the flavor is DISTINCTLY Mexican. The product is VERY thick and concentrated, and honestly when I can get no more out of the bottle I dribble in some water, shake it up, and continue to use it! Try a few drops on your Chimichanga, Mexican wrap or Burrito!!.

i think this sauce has some kind of addicting drugs in it,cause i cannot stop eating this! LOL 🙂 it’s better then any chipottle sauce i have ever tasted. i love hot spicy food and i have tried ALL hot sauces in the world lol but this stuff is really amazing! its NOT very “Hot”, but it is does have a mid-heat to it.

the richness and the smokyness,with the sweet undertones of this sauce is so good! its NOT an “all in one” sauce because it does have a Bold taste to it,so i would say that it cannot be mixed with “EVERYTHING” cause its not one of those “plain” hot sauces that can be added to anything.

this is a semi thick rich smoky hot and spicy sauce that i would die for(its really that good!) i would use this on allmost anything thats fried and needs a dip or hamburgers etc. think about it as a spicy BBQ sauce.

but the BEST bbq sauce in the world! i also us it as a replacement for anywhere ketchup is needed. you guys really must try this :-).
