20 Best Low Lying Fog Machine (2023 Updated)

This is great if you’re indoors with no ceiling fans or wind current going on. This is not powerful enough to handle outside with the wind. It does work outside if conditions are good. It blows enough fog to look very cool, however, I tried it on stage during performance and there’s so many elements happening it didn’t work well.

Using ice over dry ice is a nice plus, however the con is emptying out the water afterwards, they give you a bladder to help but its still messy. Pack a towel or rags. You must use low flying fog juice to maximize its low stay.

It’s awesome when it rolls down stairs. I have 2 of these i use all the time. And worse case you can use it as a normal fogger. Water based fluid only.

We just received our ADJ Mister Kool II. We tried it out this past weekend with the recommended “Kool Fog(dense fog juice)” and it worked extremely well. This system is so much easier than operating an old-school dry ice machine.

Living in a rural area, dry ice is hard to attain. I will say, I wish the system used water based haze instead of oil based, but still works extremely well.

Don’t get it twisted, you MUST use DRY ICE with this unit. Regular ice does not stay to the ground no matter if you use kool fog or froggy’s low lying fog. I use dry ice and froggy’s quick blast fog juice it seems to work better.

Also using it outdoors is a joke unless there is NO WIND AT ALL. The amount each blast puts out is short so it does not make a HUGE amount of low lying fog. If you want it to be huge you have to bite the bullet and get the Chauvet Nimbus or ADJ Entour Ice, the smaller ADJ Entour Chill is about the same as this unit and its a waste of money if you need to do a full production scale dry ice performance.

This machine is absolutely fantastic. The price tag is high but what you get with this unit makes it a great value purchase. There are so many good points to mention with this machine and in all honesty i can’t find a bad thing to say about it.

I’ll list some of the main points below. Build Quality: The machine is built really well, it comes permanently fixed into it’s own flight case, the lid comes off and it stays in the bottom part (on the castors).

The case is built specifically around the unit keeping it solid and compact. It’s exactly what you expect from a case, and this comes included, there are no extra purchases for a case or trolley. The castors are just right, not cheap and sticky, but they’ve kept the size small to keep the unit compact.

I’ve wheeled it over grass and rough surfaces without issue. the inner case of the unit is tough plastic, there’s a nice seal around the lid to keep the fog from spilling through through the gap. all of the components of the unit have been designed with simplicity and and durability in mind from my experience.

Output: I love the output of the machine. It’s even and constant. I’ve not used it in huge venues but when accommodating venues with 200-250 capacity this machine fills the space in the middle quite quickly.

I used it in a smaller room for a first dance, the output was at 50% and the room was comfortably filled in around 10-15 seconds. I use the machine without the included hose to create that puffy effect, and i’m yet to use the hose and nozzle, but i’m sure it will create a nice low carpet.

Without the hose, it’s a higher fog though, naturally, it doesn’t go above waist height. I tried the same venue with 70% output before the event and the jump in output was huge. I can only imagine that 100% would be enough to fill any dancefloor or stage space.

I poured 10KG of dry ice into the basket and on 50% it lasted just over 3 minutes, of course the effect lingered for a while after too. Ease of use: Compared to other dry ice machines, this one is dead simple.

the water is pumped up to the ice rather than the ice being dropped into the water. You plug it in, fill it up with water (tap water is fine) and let it heat. It takes my machine just under an hour to heat the water to 80 degrees from room temperature.

the display on the back tells you how hot your water currently is, so gives you a good idea how long you have to wait. you then load the dry ice into the basket and place it into the machine. when you want to start the machine, it’s either one button press on the machine or if you’re controlling via dmx, start it via that.

That’s it. The capacity of the basket is 12kg so if it’s being used for a first dance or similar, there will be no need to refill the machine halfway through. The fact that the water is held in a seperate chamber to the ice means that you can put the ice in a while before you need to use it, and it will dissipate at a much slower rate than other machines.

I operate this machine whilst announcing B&G and playing first dance and launching confetti, so this machine is a godsend. Draining the machine is easy too. There’s a little drainage tap at the bottom of the unit, flick it open and it takes probably around 5 mins to drain fully.

Just to clarify, as i was confused with watching some videos of people with this unit. The purchase of this machine includes: The machine including it’s flight case lid The castors on the bottom The hose and nozzle At least 1 Powercon cable (standard job) The unit is relatively heavy, but managable by one person, i can lift it in/out of the van without too much effort.

When filled it is seriously heavy so be cautious of venues where you have to take it upstairs then fill, make sure you can drain it before taking it downstairs, your body will thank you. Overall it’s a great unit and a worthwhile investment.

Talking about income per square foot, this machine earns a lot considering it’s small size. It’s tough, reliable and simple, which is perfect for busy wedding DJs that want to add an extra service. Would 100% recommend!.

Everything advertised about this machine was accurate! The fog output is amazing and fast! I filled a 5000 sq ft ballroom in about a minute this past weekend doing a Fairy Tale Wedding at Disney’s Swan & Dolphin Resort.

Blows away the Nimbus & Cumulus.

So one thing is for sure, if you are trying to match the same fog output and the low-lying capability of this thing, a bunch of smaller cheaper models paired together wont event come close. Buy once and don’t look back! This thing is sweet, with its own flight case already build-in you roll up and plug-n-play!.

This is the best fog machine I have every purchased. Very powerful. Great fog output and color. Makes my events look like a professional is doing them. Great investment.

This is a small unit. It heats up quick and puts out a nice little fog. It takes about a minute to charge up between “breaths”. Not sure that the fog solution that comes with it, is an issue, or if it just doesn’t put out the thickest fog because of its size.

I will experiment with different mixes. But for the price, if you’re just looking for a fun effects generator for personal home use, great product. If you’re using in a professional capacity, better put out a little more coin.

Pretty disappointed in the item. The fog is fine, but it is advertised as having a wireless “timer”. It’s not a timer. It is just a wireless remote. I bought it because I was under the impression it came with I timer.

The machine does me no good if I can’t set it up to run on its own.

pros- the price and the fact that it came within days cons- the fog is not thick, you have to keep pressing the button every 25 sec. by the time you press the button again, the first sign of fog has disappeared.

I thought the fog would be continuance on its own. I expected a room full of fog. Luckily I tried it first and saw it wasn’t going to work and was able to go purchase two more smaller ones for less than what I paid for the Rockville.

I will be requesting a refund.

Nice because its a smaller footprint but the output is still very good. Very simple to use and easy to setup. It does have DMX control option which I use. For my application the manual remote is not an option and I hate those wireless remotes as far as reliability.

These are great for club and small to medium sized venues. If you were going to use it outdoors you would need more than one.

After 5 years of steady weekend use, my Antari Z-1200 II had clogged up to the point of no output. I looked into buying a new heater element for it, but the cost of the Antari heater core was more than an entirely new Chauvet Hurricane 1600.

I decided to give the Chauvet a try. I gave it a quick test before taking it to a gig. It worked great at home. I liked how the container was illuminated to indicate when it was warming up and when it was ready.

20 minutes into the gig it stopped heating up. It still tried to produce fog for a while before shutting the pump off. This resulted in spewing fog juice out of the nozzle since it wasn’t hot enough to vaporize.

I sent it back in exchange for a new one. I took it to a gig and the same exact failure happened. It stopped heating up after 20 minutes. The light stays red the whole time which means the controller was calling for heat.

I suspect what’s happening is the core is overheating thus tripping a safety thermal trip- much like a circuit breaker. I returned the second one for credit and went back to Antari. Fool me once. I give it two stars because I like the design, and the illuminated tank.

it just need to actually work reliably. I give KPODJ 5 stars for their excellent handling of the returns.

I’m giving it 3 stars because for the price it did perform, but note; this is definitely a very lower-end model. It is built well and everything has a good solid feel and is simple to set-up and use.

It comes with enough fog fluid to fill the entire tank up and a bit left over and I used very little during the time it was operating. It did put out good thick fog, but unfortunately, it didn’t operate very long, maybe 8-10 minutes, before overheating and shutting itself down.

It took about 15 minutes to cool down enough to start again, but only worked for about 3-4 minutes, then shut down again and so on. It seemed to take longer to cool down and put out fog for less time each time cycle.

I bought the unit to produce fog for a studio photo shoot, which it did in a limited capacity, so the shoot was quite hindered by the start/stop overheating issues of the unit. I was paying a model and studio time and had 3 other photographers there, so needless to say we were quite disappointed that we didn’t get the shots we had hoped for.

Again, for very light and minimal usage this unit will be okay.

I had a different brand smoke machine before which broke after a while. Got this as a replacement and it really pumps out the smoke. I m only a novice user but this is easy to use and puts out a lovely consistent smoke.

This was a needed upgrade / replacement from the Led softeen ,. this is a monster of machine really is surprisingly good. using with dense fluid iI achieve outdoor Coverage my 30m by 30m garden space with a nice haze for my various lasers light n effects after couple blasts from this beast.

Overall: I took the first one out the box and hit the button and it Sprayed smoke for about 3 seconds. I took another 3 or 4 minutes to reset. The colors where assume looking for the time it lasted really couldn’t enjoy the effect.

I bought to of these so I figured maybe this one was defected. So I took the other one out the box and it would not even come on. Very disappointed in this product.

My audience probably enjoyed the views better than I did. I placed it behind my DJ booth aligned with a global truss tower and hit the remote anytime I wanted the blast of fog to shoot up! Love the colors, no drips, love the wireless remote.

I highly recommend it if you’re on the fence. I am considering a second one to use as the newly weds make their grand entrance – Place one on each side of the entrance.

All and all, great product. Use 4 with my DJ service. Just be sure to wipe down the unit, like any other equipment, keep it clean and it’ll last longer. Mine reach an 12ft ceiling no problem. Just one unit in a bar with a small stage is enough.

I black out my lights and use my strobe and the strobe effect button on the included remote at the same time. Everyone loves it. Do the same while djing weddings with my entire strobe n Volcano set up and the entire venue screamed.

Add in lasers. its Awesome. But if you know how to use your lights, adding this is a Plus!.

I bought this fog machine in October, 2015 after my Chauvett and ADJ 1200 fog machines died. I generally just use fog machines for halloween vignettes. The pumps in those earlier machines stopped working after sitting unused waiting for next halloween (I think the fog juice clogs the pump when it sits unused for an extended period).

This VF1300, however, just requires that you keep fog juice in the reservoir when storing it and run it a couple of times during the year. So after 5 years, its still generating fog like it was new. My only complaint is that the ADJ timer for the machine has become undependable and erratic so I need to buy a new one.

But this fog machine is top notch and dependable. Great buy.

I bought this as a replacement for my old smoke machine. Just awesome. Easy to use and set up and more to the point it’s a nice clean looking professional machine. The amount of smoke delivered has a good distance projection and as much as you need with the press of the button.

I use the wireless remote control so i don’t have trailing leads all over the place.

I as a professional DJ I use had one fog machine and for the quality I already another one to create more fog for huge places. I highly recommend this product to everyone. The performance is amazing the utilizacion is awesome, the setup more easy cannot be.

The R720L fog machine produces a very thick fog. The unit warms faster than any fog machine I have used in the past and the led lights are great. The unit is advertised to have a remote “timer” but this is not the case.

The remote allows you to control the fog from a distance but if you are looking to a machine that can shoot fog at timed intervals this is not the unit for it. Other than that this unit is fantastic.

The unit itself isn’t all that large considering it’s a 40,000 cfm machine with integrated LEDs. It’s fairly heavy but still easy enough to transport. My previous experience with fog machines has been the 10,000 cfm size such as the Eliminator Lighting Turbo Fog 1000 Fogger.

This ADJ Fog Fury Pro puts out an impressive mass of fog and the colored lights add to the coolness. The warm up time is rather long but the blast this thing delivers is worth the wait. It can be operated via the built-in controls or the wireless remote.

I cannot attest to it’s longevity but so far I love this thing! It was the cheapest fogger of this output I could find.

There is no good location for this on the unit and in most places that this type of equipment is used, I would expect it to be lost or broken in about 2 weeks (machine will still function on DMX though) I bought 2 NIB and 1 was faulty (control issue) They can develop leaks Verdict I wouldn’t recommend this product, so why did I buy 2? Well, they were more compact and easier to use inverted than competitors versions and with excellent smoke/light output, so just what I needed for a specific job.

Also when the remotes and receivers are lost or broken, I will just use them on DMX.

Bought this product to attempt the Dance on Clouds effect for a wedding and it did NOT perform. I used dry ice and the recommended fluid and it put out a good amount of fog at first but did not last but a few seconds.

Then the heater cut out and had to warm back up after about 45 seconds. I have a normal fog machine and it lasts longer than that when putting out smoke. Do not recommend this product. It May work for other things but not as it suggests.

Raté ! Le système DMX n’a qu’un seul canal et donc aucune fonction intervallomètre alors que ça ne coûtait rien au fabricant de mettre 3 canaux. C’est vraiment mesquin. Une occasion ratée de proposer une machine vraiment moderne.

Chacun devra bricoler une scène réglable dans son logiciel dmx pour faire son propre intervallomètre.

This is the best most affordable continuous fogger sold! If you need lots of thick fog that never ends this is the machine g for you. I own three of these fog machines and would not consider buying any other.

This machine can be operated through DMX or has an extremely good control of that comes with it.

I really like the timed duration automatic operation of this unit. You set the output, how many minutes you want between sprays, and how many seconds you want it to spray each time. All you have to do is set it , turn it on and feed it juice when its thirsty.

When used with the Chauvet fog solution it creates tons of fog. I had two 800 watt foggers by an off brand and this one fogger out produces both of them. I like that it draws only 10 amps maximum on a 120 volt circuit.

When the heater is not up to temp it will pause fogging operation until the heater is ready, but even from cold startup it takes only about 2 minutes to reach operating temp and just a matter of seconds if already warm.

It was a little more than I wanted to pay ( because I am thrifty, or cheap maybe ) but it performs and it is worth it.

Bought this having read the reviews, however after a couple of uses have found it not as good as my previous fog/smoke machine despite the wattage and output being more. Fog produced doesn’t seem to pick up the lighting effects in the same fashion.

Could be the output level and the area coverage means that it fails to pick up moving heads situated near to it whereas my previous 900w smoke machine gave less distance and hence the drift of fog was more towards the lighting effects.

Power cable supplied is very much on the short side!.

This is my second unit. I used them running on continuous in my front yard at Halloween. Both run through homemade chillers made from 5 gal buckets. They put out an amazing amount of fog all not. People are always amazed by it and the kids love the low lying fog in our grave yard.

I bought several of these since I had some of this model previously. They have apparently updated the model, and made a few cosmetic changes. One of those changes is a shorter cord for the fog controller.

Much shorter! The cord used to be probably 10 ft long, and now it is more like 6. So you can’t get very far away from the machine to hit the fog button. Another change must be an internal one since I’ve had trouble with all of these actually producing fog reliably.

The instruction manual now tells you if you have problems you are to rotate the fog machine 45 degrees. That works for a little bit and then it quits shooting fog until you rock it back and forth. They have taken a solid fog machine and turned it into junk.

This fog machine was a huuuuuuuge success. Ya see, I incorporated it into a concrete sculpture for a group installation we had. I easily mounted it into an eight inch diameter concrete cylinder and faced it to blow out the top opening.

It was incredible how people responded to it. It has a trigger button attached to a long cord. It worked perfectly and every push was a holler. I WILL be buying more stuff from this company. I have a million ideas and the success I experienced with this one made it easy for me.

I ran constant fog for days and days now and still on the first tank full of fluid. Less than a liter easily. It’s water based, so it’s safe for indoor use which is where I used it. It will not set off any smoke detectors because if it didn’t for me, it won’t for you.

Buy, buy, buy and enjoy pushing that button.

As the description says at the bottom, where I didnt read it, it does say that the remote control is Permanently Wired. That translates to, You cant use a timed remote. You have to push a button on the wired remote every time you want fog from this machine.

I dont usually stand there with the remote in hand. Rather, I have several Timer Controls which plug into what I thought was the standard portal. This thing is impractical unless you plan on standjng there with it.

My bad for not reading the entire description. I saw Wired Remote Control and thought it was the typical version, not a Wireless Remote, which I already have and dont use because I want my foggers on timers! So would I recommend this? No.

Is it a good value? Not if I cant use it how I want to. Is it enjoyable? Uh, no.
