I’m using it on an ebike so I wanted a solid mount that didn’t shift. The rubber mounts on many bike headlights aren’t good enough, and the light changes direction frequently. This light is solid and doesn’t shift.

The quick release, mounts underneath as the top section is for the Garmin cycling computer, takes a few minutes to get use to and then you’re golden. I’ve used the mount in reduced light and it’s fine, a reassuring click when it’s ready for use.

I don’t have it slaved to the cycling computer, so it doesn’t varying intensity to the bike’s speed. I just manually change it, and that works fine, nice broad beam.

This Garmin bike lamp doesn’t disappoint! The sensor that dims the intensity based on lighting conditions is a great feature, not to mention it’s ability to connect to the bike computer. I use my GoPro handlebar mount for the lamp, which makes slotting it in super convenient with gloves in winter.

Garmin makes some well thought-out products. I already own the Varia bike radar and the Fenix 6s Pro. My experience with those made me upgrade from my old & relatively mundane/fiddly Lezyne lamp.

I like this light! It is bright and simple to use. It can be paired with your garmin cycling computer or used manually as I have been using. It has great battery life in manual mode daylight flash mode 26 hours.

Awesome as I have been using it mostly during the day to be seen by motorists. It pairs easily as well but doesn’t last very long which is a downfall as that is the reason for this smart light. I am pleased with my purchase though.

Absolutely love this watch. It looks like an elegant analogue watch, the brass colour face is really nice. And then incoming – a notification! And then someone says wow! I didn’t realise it was a smart watch! It’s fantastic, tracks sleep, heart rate, breath rate, body battery, and you can reply to texts (texts only though) with some present responses.

I like that I can see all my notifications come through and read them on the watch, even when my phones in the other room. It’s also really subtle – I feel like it can often be obvious when people are flicking through messages on smart watches.

Doesn’t have as many features and ones with digital faces, but I don’t miss anything. I mostly just love that it looks analogue, and then the hands move and the led text pops up and its smart. Would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a professional looking analogue watch but also wants smart watch features.

(Garmin support is also fantastic if you do have any issues). And such great value for money compared to other smart watches.

Having thought long and hard about getting a smartwatch, I’m very pleased that I went for this hybrid model. It looks very smart and it’s comfortable to wear, even with my small wrists. There is a wide of range of widgets which can be displayed and for a first time user, the garmin app is very straightforward to use and adjust the settings.

Battery life is respectable; I charge it up twice a week and it takes about one and half hours. I really like the way the clock hands move out of the way of the alert screen. 🙂 Now that I’ve used it for a few weeks, I only have two very small gripes: 1) the battery level indicator is tiny and it only shows on the clock widget.

It’d be nice if the app highlighted the watch battery indicator as well. 2) The touchscreen isn’t as responsive as it could be, but that is well documented and I knew that when I bought it. It means you aren’t constantly ‘waking’ it, but it can take a couple of goes to wake when you want to check an alert.

Overall, I’m very pleased with this product!.

I really wanted this watch. My husband and son got me this watch for Christmas and it is a piece of junk! They sent a used watch, the screen doesn’t work, hold a charge and that clear information they show you in the picture is not true, it is so blurred and bled out that you cant read it.

The box looks like it was torn and has some type of mold or water damage. I WISH I COULD LOAD PICTURES. YOU WOULD BE SHOCKED. THESE WATCHES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-RETURNABLE. DO NOT BUY THIS WATCH.

After using Fitbits for a couple years and their shelf life only having about a year each I finally upgraded to a Garmin thinking it would be better quality for the price. For the first 5 months it’s been great.

It’s a stylish watch and has all the features I’m looking for in a daily activity tracker. My main issue is it staying connected. It will randomly disconnect and has a lot of trouble reconnecting to my phone.

This last time my watch died and when I charged it and it finally came back on it was lagging a day behind. I’ve been working to get it reconnected for the past 3 days with no luck. Support has been mostly helpful with ways to get it resynced but nothing that has worked so far.

I love this watch but for the price point you pay it should not be having basic Bluetooth connection issues.

I upgraded from the slightly more basic Vivomove HR and this is sadly not worth the money. I was after a nice looking timepiece that would also allow me to track my fitness and keep track of smartphone notifications.

I *really* like the look of this watch, in particular the analogue face (and have received many compliments on my watch) however functionality is where it falls down for me. Here are the top 3 shortfalls for me: 1.

The watch face notifications are hard to see outdoors on the rose gold face. If it is sunny, you have to be able to shade it effectively to read the screen. This is not easy to do while cycling! 2. The Bluetooth range is short, so it continuously drops out (even at home) and doesn’t reliably reconnect (to my iPhone) when it gets back in range.

I regularly have to manually reconnect it in settings on my phone once I notice I haven’t had any watch activity for some time (and realise it is because it is not connected). There is a setting where you can get a notification when your watch drops in/out of range from your phone, however I had to disable this as it was so annoying getting notifications constantly when moving about my house.

3. GPS (needs to pair with phone for this as this is not inbuilt) is not reliable either – the signal regularly drops out or is lost with no sign of this until you finish your run/cycle to find that you have not been tracking as anticipated.

So annoying!.

I decided to get rid of the ugly iWatch and get something that looks better and simpler to use as I wanted a much longer battery life. I can not fault this watch at all! I actually love it! I usually have my phone with me so I did not really need the iWatch.

This does all the fitness tracking and health monitoring I need and tells me a quick overview. It is also very easy to read the time and date and quite versatile. It doesn’t do all the pay options using the iWatch does but I just use my phone for contactless payment instead! Not really a biggy!! I also love that it caters for small wrists and big wrists.

I am quite tiny and it still can go smaller. My mum has larger wrists and there was still ample room to expand. Overall really pleased.

I was very excited to finally try out the Fenix 7 sapphire solar because I’ve had the 6X for the last 2 years and watched ALL the YouTube videos comparing the 7 to the Epix 2. I kept going back and forth between the two.

Almost ALL the videos mention the dimness of the sapphire screen but I knew I had to actually see it for myself to make up my mind. Sadly, the screen was even worse than I was expecting. Especially on cloudy days the screen acted more like a mirror and was insanely reflective.

Having to reorient my wrist plus activate the backlight to be able to read the watch at a glance was fairly annoying for a almost $1,000 watch. Now the features and the GPS accuracy and tracking were wonderful, and I was very pleased! It sensed my pace changes MUCH faster than my 6X which was refreshing! I HATE looking down at my watch KNOWING that I’m going at least a certain pace and the pace on my watch is like 2-3 minutes per mile slower just because I’m running near some trees! The 6X drives me nuts with stuff like that, and seems to take forever to catch up to my actual pace in addition to having fairly inaccurate GPS data! The 7 has definitely upgraded on GPS performance and accuracy and sensitivity which was very nice! Lastly though, the battery was pretty poor, and once again is a FAR cry from Garmin’s “estimates”.

It was down to “low battery” in less than 5 days. I had the screen brightness set to 50%, HAD TO to semi compensate for the screen dimness. I used the all systems on for 3 of my 6 activities and then the multi band for 3 of the 6.

I know the multiband sucks up more juice but was testing the accuracy. The solar charging did almost nothing, and I was fairly intentional about exposing it to the sun as much as I could. That feature was not near as helpful as I had hoped or thought.

It’s seems more a marketing gimmick than anything. Granted if all you did was just sit in a chair all day every day directly in the sun not doing any activities with the screen brightness turned off, and turned off almost every other feature the watch has, then you might get close to the “estimates” of 11 days, or “up to 14 with solar charging”.

I’m returning after testing it out till low battery. This has solidified in my experience that the Sapphire Solar version is not worth the extra $100. The sapphire makes the screen way too dim AND reflective, and is pretty distracting.

I only wish the Multiband option was available on the non-sapphire models. I’m trying out the Epix 2 Sapphire next because I’ve read and seen that the amoled display more than breaks through the sapphire lense and you can’t really even tell it’s there.

If I can get all the features I like and be able to read the screen really well and still get better battery life than the 7s, then it’s really a no brainer to me. The 7s Sapphire Solar is simply not worth close to $1,000 to me.

I have owned a Fenix 5s sapphire glass for the past 5 years on my left wrist which has flower and lace tattoo. Never did I have a problem. I wanted to upgrade to the 7s solar so I did. My biggest regret is that I sold my 5S already.

Once I got my watch it never wanted to read my heart rate but maybe for 2 to 30 minutes out of the day. Very sporadic if it would catch your heart rate. So I returned it and got another one thinking it was something wrong with Watch.

Shortly after getting a new one I realized it was doing the same thing. My husband and brought to my attention he wondered if there was a chance it had something to do with my tattoo. So I moved the watch to my right wrist ( which I am not a fan of) but it is never not read the heart rate since.

So I’m guessing we clearly found out that it is the tattoo that it will not read through. Although the watch is beautiful it is pretty useless if it doesn’t read my heart rate. I have since brought it to Garmins attention.

It seems like this day and age you would want to make sure it works through tattoos means everybody has them. I guess they changed the lights on the back from the 5 to the 7 and that is why the five works for me but the 7 didn’t.

I purchased this a few weeks ago. As with any new product from Garmin, it has its ups and downs. I love the functionality – all except one thing. Wifi connection – it doesn’t stay connected long enough to download large apps (Spotify) from Garmin connect I cannot get spotify to download to the watch.

I don’t know if Garmin connect or the wifi on the watch needs an upgrade. My watch connects to the 2. 4ghz wifi both at home and on another network, but Garmin Connect does not recognize the watch connecting to wifi.

Everytime I go to load Spotify on the watch it says I am not connected to wifi in Garmin Connect. I’m a tech savy person and have worked thru all the upper level garmin support documents and with support a couple of times now.

Of course, no one else is reporting this problem. I had an early Garmin 645 music and never could get the the music to work with that either. I’ve tried the ski app and some of the women’s features and like that.

The ski app is very cool as long as it doen’t turn off by inadvertant button pushes with gloves, but that is probably more user error than device error. I.

The camera is cool but there’s some hidden downsides you don’t expect until going through it like me. My last comment is probably the most critical to this review. Buy one battery length because the cases only fit one size and it sucks to lug an extra case along with needing to swap it over.

The extended battery has/had one real case option when I bought mine in the fall of 2020. It is the Ulanzi metal case. For the small batteries you get about half (45 mins one the 360 Camera. The Extended is 1 1/2 hours)The extended battery has two metal tabs that flip out but the mounting spot of the tab feels and looks like a weak point and when mounting the tabs bend inwards when tightening due to the fitment of the female side having too much play.

I would suggest roughing it out with multiple battery swap outs with the cons of the larger battery being what I listed in this review and extra bulk, case price, and extra weight (every ounce counts when in your head)but there is no case for the manufacturer for the extended battery has no lens protector for its aftermarket case and you may not be able to fit 3m covers over the lens while at the same time swapping back to the small battery and case with the stronger protector that is both thicker and distributes the shock through the case not the camera.

Lastly I had rarely used the camera and had it scratch up due to the lens being exposed. I went to remove the scratch with a felt too dremmel bit and buffer. I accidentally heated it up to much and cracked the lens when I went pretty slowly, gently, and carefully.

They offer no repair service for the 360 camera mod; nor do they offer just a lens for a diy. The replacement is $100 and they must know 80% of the cameras will develop a scratched lens with in a small time frame.

Poor judgment on their customer service to have people that are spending a big chunk of money on getting a camera to need to completely replace something over a piece of glass. Imagine it like as if a cracked, or simply scratched, phone screen caused you to have to replace your entire phone at full cost.

I have the 360 1r for 3 months now and haven’t been able to get a quality video. The problem I was having was flickering in the video and blur, I also had trouble with the camera freezing, a few problems with the screen turning white and vignetting There were also problems in their desktop app which gave me an error message when I tried to download them.

I had contacted support which was terrible, it was like dealing with a form letter. I had sent them copies of the videos and the only thing they came up with was to shoot at 1/200 of a second and from their analysis or the video, there was nothing wrong.

I still get blurring and flickering. I’m sure other people had a good experience with this camera but if you do it’s a major problem. I bought this camera because of the Leica Lens (which I found out the cheaper models of Leica use lenses made in China).

And also because it had 5k and was more expensive and, I felt you get what you pay for. I had watched all the YouTube reviews but found out later most Youtubers won’t really give bad reviews only a sprinkling of things that the company can improve on.

They do get free products from the company and get a portion of the sale if you buy it from a link on their website even though they tell you they’re independent. To sum this up, I wasted over 500 dollars on this camera when I could have bought the Go Pro and saved money or even bought a gamble and used my phone which has much better quality than the Insta360 1R.

This is my second Insta360: I also have the Pro I. First, let me alert B&H customers that for the Pro II to function, you *must* have 6 microSD cards installed. As far as I can tell, this key fact is not indicated on B&H’s product page.

In trying to test the device yesterday, I wasted a lot of time before I was able to learn from Insta360’s helpline (thank you, Cindy!) that this was the cause of my error message about not having a storage device, despite the fact that I had an SD card installed.

So, if you buy the camera, be sure to purchase the 6 mandatory microSD cards at the same time if you don’t already have them. Like the SD card, they must be V30 certified, so pay attention to that, too.

Regarding the performance, the Pro II has some improvements over the Pro I, but I have noticed something disappointing as well: even with SanDisk Extreme PRO level cards (170 MB/s), it takes an inordinate amount of time for the Pro II to write the data of an 8k pano shot JPEG+RAW to the disks.

With the Pro I, I could take a shot, and the camera was ready for the next shot within a minute. With the Pro II, it takes an average of 3-4 minutes. (In case anyone is wondering, I had the camera’s onboard real-time stitching feature turned off.

) If you have a lot of shots to take, this will really slow you down. That said, the quality of the 8k panos is quite nice, and there is no competing device in the same price range.

The SSD is fast and a large capacity. Even if according to specification, it is slower than the internal SSD on my laptop, I cannot really tell the difference. I use it for running Virtual Machine and software development.

Where I had trouble is with Samsung Portable SSD software and Samsung Magician. I installed the Portable SSD software and got some very weird issues: I was NOT using encryption and the SSD start losing some changes.

When I swap the SSD to another machine, folder or files created done on that machine were not appearing on the original machine. At one point, I reformatted the drive and it continues reporting the old folder, even though they were completely inaccessible.

After I finally removed the Samsung Portable software, the problem went away. That software is only require for using encryption. Another issue was with Samsung Magician software. It updated the firmware, which was good.

I had it for over a month and strangely, the laptop was no longer able to sleep, took me a while to figure out that the issue was with the external SSD. Uninstalling Samsung Magician fix the issue. None of Samsung software is required for basic use.

But it was time consuming to troubleshot and figure out that Samsung software cause more harm than good.

I like this external SSD a lot. It’s really small and light – the size of a credit card but about half a cm deep. If you can get one of these for under £80 that’s a great bargain, but probably worth the regular price of about £120.

It works much better than I expected. The Samsung T7 is an ideal way for Mac Mini owners to add lots of fast storage very economically. It’s only about half the speed of the Mac’s insanely fast internal SSD, but the t7 is still seriously fast, and better performance than you really need even for very demanding tasks.

I thought that video editing might require a much more expensive Thunderbolt 3 external SSD, but the T7’s USB C / USB 3. 2 seems fine. To get the fastest performance of 1 GB per second, be sure to plug the T7 drive into a USB C port on the Mac Mini using the usb C to usb C cable (small plug both ends), rather than the larger USB A socket with the cable which has a bigger plug on one end.

If you use the usb A port it will only run at usb 3. 1 speed of 500MB per second, which is also very fast but you’ll appreciate going twice the speed when copying large video files etc. To be honest, 500mb per second is pretty amazing, so if your computer only has usb 3.

1 don’t worry about that too much, it’s still really fast, but you’d get the same performance with the older, cheaper Samsung T5 SSD.

I bought the Instinct 2 Solar to replace my 735 XT, which I had used happily for triathlon training and racing for many years. When it looked like the 735 might not last much longer, and I saw that it was discontinued, I looked for a replacement.

I had received an email from Garmin touting the Instinct 2 and decided to buy it just over a month ago for the following reasons: 1. Better battery life plus solar charging. 2. More rugged. 3. More accurate GPS.

The battery life is indeed better and it recharges very quickly, but I am not convinced that it would last 29 days without GPS usage. After such a short time I can’t judge how rugged it is or how accurate the GPS, but I am willing to believe those claims.

A pleasant surprise is that the Instinct 2 pairs with my smart bike trainer. I have been using the timer for ice treatments and stretching and the sleep monitoring functions, which I did not do with the 735.

Like the 735 and maybe all such watches, the Instinct 2 does not do a great job counting laps in the pool; it always misses a few turns, understating the distance and distorting the overall statistics.

My only real complaint is that with its abundance of features I personally do not need, it is a bit more complicated to use than the 735 for simple workouts. Also, the display is harder to read during a run or pool swim during rest through swim goggles) with the tiny numbers in the small circle in the upper right-hand corner.

I liked the 735 display better, even though the Instinct 2 has more pixels. To accommodate all the features, Garmin has added a third button on the left side of the watch; since that reduces the spacing, it is harder to change screens during a run.

They also added a function to enable or disable the lap key, essential when doing interval workouts or measuring distances along a hiking route. I could not figure out why I could not measure laps until I called the always super-helpful Garmin support team, who told me about this function, which is inexplicably not included in the full-length manual.

In summary, I love being able to record and view all my training statistics with this watch, and am getting used to accessing the functions I need, but it is not a perfect 5 for the reasons mentioned above.

Purchased this upgraded edition of the Instinct Solar as soon as it appeared. The feature additions were exactly what I was looking for without having to go with the high-end touchscreen devices. This device checks all the boxes for me.

Battery life is exceptional (best-in-class) and a must-have feature for my usage which includes many all-day or multi-day excursions. This device features more satellite system integration so tracking is extremely accurate and fast to acquire.

The menu system is logical and intuitive and operation is quick and responsive. (Garmin has come a long way in making their devices functional and intuitive from their disastrous past implementations, IMHO).

I really appreciate the variety of built-in sports applications – I use many of them, and like that I can add/subtract them easily as my list changes by seasons. The addition of Pulse Ox, V02 max, and other health features aligns this device with the higher-end devices as a great price-point.

Finally, I appreciate the addition of safety features such as Incident Detection. Note, however, that one must be prepared for false alerts, and know how to cancel them – this is not described in the manual nor online so you have 15 seconds to figure it out the first time it happens! Don’t worry though, if you send a false alert the device gives you the option to send a follow-up “I’m Okay” message (if you participate in a lot of activities that involve a lot of motion you will end up exercising this feature – but, I think it is worth the peace-of-mind if something bad does occur).

So far, operation has been near flawless, although I have had experience with Garmin’s connect system going down, and other device/fw bugs, with other Garmin devices, so not holding my breath. Garmin Connect app is top notch and phone integration is also near perfection.

Bottom line: if you need extended (potentially infinite) battery life for longer excursions, and are looking for a fully-loaded fitness/activity/health tracking instrument, this is IMHO the best there is.

It’s a great smart watch, most likely the best rugged on the market in that price range, I specifically chose a Garmin smart watch for its connectivity with inReach and the ability to trigger the SOS from a distance of the inReach device (like when being ejected from your bicycle in a crash with inReach on the bike).

However, the battery life claim is way overstated. I get 9 to 10 days with reduced sensors use and without triggering any fitness or GPS tracking function. Reduced sensor means only tracking HR 24/7 and PulsOx when sleeping, with a backlight at 10% (default is 20%) and the ABC sensor on.

The claim of 28 days battery life is certainly if you do not use any sensor and don’t use the watch for what it is intended, so if you need a solar watch only, my “other” solar watch has been working for over 20 years only on light recharge (there isn’t even a charging port on it).

A staggering difference is that it recharges on indoor light, the Garmin does not at all. It is disapointing considering the “other” technology is at least 20 years older than the solar panels on the Garmin watch.

I turned off the temperature sensor as like my “other” watch, it is pretty much useless since it records the watch internal temperature, which is warmed up by your body heat, rather than the external temperature, unless you take it off your wrist.

One thing I do find frustrating about the Garmin is that you can’t schedule to turn off the bluetooth connectivity. To turn it off you have to go to the BT menu (which is very well designed) and turn it off manually, we should be able to schedule that just like an alarm, for example to avoid BT EMF exposure near the head while sleeping.

Garmin if you are listening, please and thank you. I love that you can program most if the watch from the phone app, this is extremely useful compared to the previous model and the Connect app gives useful health tracking information.

This adapter uses a Realtek 88x2bu USB WiFi chip, which is a decent performer in MS Windows. But Realtek driver support for Linux is known to be poor to nonexistent, and no drivers are built into the standard kernel releases (such as found in Ubuntu, Debian, Raspberry Pi OS, etc.

). If you buy this intending to use it with a Linux, you will be dependent on community build repos which are generally maintained only by one heroic person and often fall behind the latest OS releases, or get orphaned until someone else picks up the development.

For example I can’t install this on my Raspberry Pi 4 with the Octopi distro, because the maintainer hasn’t built a driver package for the latest Raspberry Pi OS. I did manage to get it working on a Intel-based Ubuntu 21.

04 machine but only after several hours of web searching and then having to build and install the kernel module myself from a Github repo. If you plan to use this only with Windows (and possibly MacOS) then these are quite good devices.

But avoid for Linux.

This item is supposed to work with Windows 10, but it does not. The small applet that should have installed did not show up anywhere even though the installation completed. I could see in my the device manager that the item was installed and listed as working, but there was no mechanism or software that would allow me to log into my wifi network.

I tried installing from the enclosed disk AND went to the website and downloaded the most current installer. Neither one worked. Even the WPS function simply did nothing. This item is useless unless you need a small paperweight.

I would give it a “zero” if that was an option.

I had to order two of these, the first one broke pretty easily due to a pet sitting on it while my laptop was on my bed which bent the USB connector completely out of the plastic Chassis, however I don’t blame the product for that, although could be slightly more durable.

When it works, it works really well. My room is situated one floor above and across the house and it picks up 3-4 bars most of the time, with 300Mbps internet I usually get 8-12MB/s download speed at this range which I think is fine.

However recently this Adapter started causing blue screens at random times if the internet connection dropped too low, which did not happen with other WiFi adapters I used. Not sure if this is due to driver conflicts on my system or with the adapter itself, but when it does work it works well.

Will not work, as it is incompatible with WiFi 6, even while stating it’ll work with all Orbi routers (a bald face lie!) Went to Best Buy to order a new mesh WiFi 6 system to update our lodge, pool and RV area.

Bought the AX4200, and this, which states it is compatible with all Orbi systems. That, however, is a bald face lie. It will only work with WiFi 5 and below. It will not work with any WiFi 6 systems.

Unmitigated disaster on Netgear’s part! Why would you upgrade to provide WiFi 6 mesh network, and not upgrade your outdoor satellite as well?!?! This has soured me on Netgear, do not buy in intended to use with WiFi 6.

This is the second outdoor Ordi WiFi extender I purchased. The first one was purchased several years ago and it is functioning beautifully extending my wifi for 300 ft. in my yard. I needed a second one for my back yard.

These extend my Orbi Wifi system which has been working great for several years. I now have a more reliable Wifi in my house and around my property. I contacted the Netgear technical assistance several years ago and they were helpful.

The setup and startup was easy. Almost too easy. I used all of the auto guided setups and it attached and started working without a problem. I thought, it automatically names itself the same as your network and at that point I could no longer communicate with the unit.

So I restarted and did the process manually and named it as an extension, which then worked without a problem. I attached to my starlink network and not an Orbi one that can be managed by Orbi. Other than that it works great.

Have about a 200′ bubble around my house and shop now.

I live in Central Idaho and often cycle, ski and paddle solo off the cell phone grid. Accordingly, I sought a cycling specific computer with off-grid live tracking and map navigation. After researching various Garmin products, and calling Garmin Customer Support, I purchased an In-Reach Mini2 and an Edge 1040.

The Mini2 provides the off-grid live tracking as well as off-grid texting to family and friends, and SOS to emergency services. After initial setup, I did call Garmin Customer Support to complete the integration and syncing of both devices with each other, with the Garmin apps (2), and with my laptop.

In addition, I use Strava, so I had to get both devices set up to report activities to Strava, create routes, and then upload routes to the Edge 1040. The Garmin Customer Support rep was absolutely awesome; he helped me through the process, and then we tested all the integration across devices and platforms.

Once I understood the difference between Glances and Widgets on the Edge, I added a Widget screen for the In-Reach Mini2 so now I can operate the Mini2 through the Edge provided the Mini2 is turned on.

This works seamlessly! Although I wish there was a single cycling specific computer with In-Reach capability, the combination of both units works well. The Edge 1040 is very capable, although I don’t use all the power and training functions.

The screen is sharp, and it’s easy to swipe pages from stats to map to profile to etc. All these pages (glances?) are customizable (data fields/screen). I’m quite pleased. Suggestion for Garmin: please include 2 inserts and 2 mounts in the Bundle package so that the unit can be installed on at least 2 bikes.

Also, the rubber protector should also come with the bundle, and not require a separate cost and order. Cool stuff, and it’s now much safer to ride off grid.

I live in Central Idaho and often cycle, ski and paddle solo off the cell phone grid. Accordingly, I sought a cycling specific computer with off-grid live tracking and map navigation. After researching various Garmin products, and calling Garmin Customer Support, I purchased an In-Reach Mini2 and an Edge 1040.

The Mini2 provides the off-grid live tracking as well as off-grid texting to family and friends, and SOS to emergency services. After initial setup, I did call Garmin Customer Support to complete the integration and syncing of both devices with each other, with the Garmin apps (2), and with my laptop.

In addition, I use Strava, so I had to get both devices set up to report activities to Strava, create routes, and then upload routes to the Edge 1040. The Garmin Customer Support rep was absolutely awesome; he helped me through the process, and then we tested all the integration across devices and platforms.

Second time posting this review because it was deleted the first time. I purchased the Edge 1040 Solar and it’s got loads of problems. The Navigation looks better post track, but it’s off on the road.

It’s not even close to pre-populated routes, misses turn queues all the time, etc. So you’ve got to stare at the map the whole time or you’re gonna miss turns. There’s also a serious problem around % Grade.

The Edge 1040 averages the grade over at least 1000-2000 feet of distance. So you’ll be halfway up a hill before it reflects a change in grade. Or you’ll be 1000-2000 feet up a long shallow grade before it registers on the Edge 1040.

Likewise you’ll be on the top of a hill and the Edge 1040 will say that you’re still on an 8% grade. I contacted support about this and the feedback I got says that this isn’t a priority and may not be fixed ‘until a future version of Edge’.

So if you’ve used previous generations like the Edge 1000, don’t upgrade. Using the 1040 for training won’t help you. It’ll actually hurt your performance on hills and climbs if you ever relied on knowing the grade to trim your power output to the terrain.

I’ll add that the Climb screen is interesting but without an accurate real time grade being displayed it is literally a useless graphic that tells you what the grade WAS 2000 feet ago as you struggle up a 14% climb.

If support has you replace it, beware that all the rides you’ve done, all the custom screens, all the routes, everything you’ve done on your Edge 1040, will be lost. There’s no transfer of any of that.

If you don’t need the battery life from this thing, skip it. None of the reviewers or youtube influencers who reviewed this device cover these issues. Also they don’t publish the MAC address of the device anywhere in the setup section so you can’t secure your WiFi network without an air sniffer to sus that out on your own.

This product is a fail.

We recently tested & reviewed your Smooth Five gimbal and we would like to provide some feedback. Starting with the pros, the design had a nice and pleasing aesthetic. We also enjoyed the many functions/features of the Smooth Five, including “All Mode.

” The rotation of the gimbal was also smooth and aesthetically pleasing. There are however some cons to the Smooth Five. When I try using the device for short periods of time (5-10 minutes) outdoor in 90+ degrees Fahrenheit temperature, we discovered that the gimbal would not function properly and the record mode and it keep flashing on mode function , I have to hold to shut down.

It also would not correctly function with the app, and fail to record. In conclusion, we would rate the product at a 7. 5 / 10. The product had several pros & cons and overall, I may recommend this product to others in the near future.

1. Took the gimbal out to a national park with my IPhone 13 Pro Max. Balanced it at home which was fairly easy and took some good test. footage. At the park it was clear over a longer period of time the 13 pro max is too heavy for this gimbal.

Even after properly balancing without my case, as I shot video in landscape mode the gimbal repeatedly put itself into the portrait orientation. It would not correct itself back. This happened over a dozen times on simple videos and it was completely frustrating as the only way to fix it was to restart the gimbal.

Several shots were ruined in this way. 2. Most of the function buttons found on the gimbal can only be used by 3rd party apps. Filmic Pro has support but costs $14. 99 with in app purchases and is still buggy.

The native Cami app by Zhiyun is even worse. I couldn’t get the gimbal to work inside the app at times. I ended up just using turn Apple cam app but I lost most of the functions of the gimbal. Only power, mode, and the control switch work without 3rd party apps.

3. You cannot use an external microphone with this gimbal. The end of the phone rests next to the gimbal, blocking the lightening charging port. There is no way around this. 4. Battery life is terrible.

I only had the gimbal on and off for 1. 5 hours this morning before it died. On time maybe only 30 mins. Rest no my time was trying to configure or get the gimbal to work properly. It’s obvious the weight of the camera completely drained the battery as the motors were working in overdrive to work the phone.

The gimbal does give you nice smooth video cinematic style when functioning. But the gimmicky app, plus the inability to function flawlessly with my 13 Pro Max is the reason im returning this. If you are a professional videographer with the 13 Pro max this will give you headaches.

Do not recommend.

I really like my Smooth 5 smart phone gimbel. I am new to smartphone videography and this is my first gimbel. I suggest that you check out YouTube videos on smart phone videgraphy and gimbels before you make any purchases.

I had first considered the DJI OM5, but when I learned about limitations of the DJI on the low to high crane shot, I decided to buy the slightly more expensive Smooth 5. I had a little trouble initially trying to use the gimbel – it kept going into standby mode.

After watching tutorial videos I found that I was operating it backward – the roll axis motor should be on the side toward the operator. My only complaints and one star deduction are for the fairly limited manual and the less than stellar apps.

There are two Zhiyun apps to use, ZY-Cami and Sta-Cam. Again, check out YouTube videos for what you need and how they work. From my research, a paid app, such as Filmic Pro ($14. 95) will be best with this gimbel, but it’s not yet compatible.

I am using this sensor on a speed bike set on a set of CycleOps rollers. I wanted something simple and efficient to give me info on distance, speed and calories burnt. However, often it does not connect to the app, so I find myself refreshing the app and rotating the pedals by hand before I sit on the bike, to see if it connects.

In addition, it seems it calculates the average speed including the times you stop, so if you stop at the lights, your average speed will be lower than the actual average speed you put on while pedaling.

I usually ride in the morning while preparing breakfast, so some times I need to stop to get something out of the oven or whatever, and get back on the bike. I know that my average speed is at least 30 Km/h, but because I stopped a couple of times the other day, it went down to 22! Other drawbacks are that the Garmin app will not update your ride as you ride in real time, and after you’re done pedaling, there is no option to pull up the data and you have to wait several minutes for it to come up.

For a Garmin, I find these glitches all too disappointing. Had I purchased an inferior brand, I wouldn’t be so upset, but it really falls short of pleasing, considering all the technology available nowadays, and considering that one would expect Garmin to do the best.

Well reviewed sensor set -Sigma had the best price on the web and arrived quickly, so great service Sigma. Bought them to use with an old carrera road bike on a ‘dumb’ elite chronos elastogel trainer to improve my fitness and lose weight over winter.

The trick with the sensors is to find the right software to pair them with, Trialed Cyclemeter – whilst paired the data screens were very clunky. Then used Wahoo connect a free app that worked well but gave limnite doptions.

Have started the Wahoo Systm Trial and this picks up the sensors and uses the speed sensor as a virualpower meter so impressed with the product.

I gave 5 stars for the following main reasons. Stabilizations works great. The 5 gimbal modes can immediately be switched by a button right on the unit, rather than having to go into an app (eg. DJI Osmo).

Mounting/balancing is instant via an adjustable clamp which is set once. Torch (pointing forward) position works great (not so on DJI Osmo 3,4). There are other buttons and wheels which work variably, depending on iOS/Android and app used.

Smooth joystick. Excellent manual including clear diagrams how each motor works, for each of the 5 gimbal modes. Very helpful for understanding how the various modes work. There are other nice features that I have read about, but have not tried yet.

IšverstiShow in original languageInternet speed tests now consistently show poorer results when this device is plugged in. No idea why. Our son set this up for us. All the blue leds are on, as they apparently should be.

The differences are not huge, but they are not in this units favour – plugged in they are around 10 for download and 7 for upload. Unplugged? 14/9. Both sets of figures are poor. We only began to notice over the later part of lockdown, so the amount of traffic may have something to do with it.

The online manual is a horrifying mess, the exact and precise opposite of plug and play. Looking at it makes my heart sink. Even if you do set it up correctly, plainly it doesnt necessarily stay that way.

Resoundingly NOT recommended. And I challenge all those who thought this was beneficial to at least try switching it off and see what happens.

IšverstiShow in original languagePlug it in near the router, press the WPS button on the router snd the WPS on the TP-Link, wait about 30 seconds, repeat the procedure for the 5ghz frequency (if you have it, if not dont bother).

Move it then to a socket not too far away from the router, wait a couple of moments and job done. Much easier than I expected; took no more than 10 minutes to set up. Instructions are very clear and easy to follow.

Coverage is excellent: the erratic signal from the router is perfect now in those parts where it would come and go and be regularly interfered with by neighbouring routers. As I move around the house, devices switch automatically from the original router to the extender and back.

Doubtless, there will be some situations, eg big house and/or many and thick walls, where the coverage might not be adequate (buy a mesh system for that, perhaps), but for most domestic users this gadget will be more than enough.

Only a small criticism: the device is larger than the pictures suggest and you need to ensure enough space around the wall socket when the aerials are extended.

Picked up this guy instead with zero expectations after my last experience. This was up and running in about 5 min. App set up was very easy and quick. Seems to be working just fine at first glance. Signal in the kids rooms has gone from weak to strong and videos are downloading fine where they wouldn’t before.

One device isn’t connecting (Roku) but that’s the only hassle so far.
