20 Best Lotions For Chemo Patients (2023 Updated)

Newly diagnosed with contact dermatitis, primarily a sensitivity to ingredients in fragrance. The moisturizing, ceramides, and lack of fragrance and harsh additives makes this a life saver. When not in an active reaction, I use a more oily skin friendly moisturizer in the mornings, and this moisturizer at night; let the ceramides do their thing overnight after cleansing.

When I’m in a reaction and my skin is sensitive, itchy, bumpy, red, &/or peeling, this is my morning, night, and occasionally mid-day moisturizer. The application of CeraVe followed by Vaseline has saved my skin.

It not only keeps my skin moisturized so it can heal itself, rather than drying out and peeling to heal over several weeks like it does when using only allergy medications and my regular moisturizer, but the CeraVe alone (let alone in combination with Vaseline) seems to create a degree of barrier between my skin and irritants; I have very different reactions to being around certain household chemicals while using this moisturizer than prior.

+ No fragrance added and very little scent from the ingredients. Highly moisturizing, but it doesn’t make me break out like some very moisturizing products do. – If you are visibly oil prone, this may not be the daily/morning moisturizer for you, unless you have a good regimen to combat oil.

I bought a cerave cleanser a while back that came with a sample of lotion that was just labeled “moisturizing lotion”. I did a number on my face overusing a harsh active ingredient and needed something gentle while it healed.

I pulled out the little sample bottle of moisturizing lotion I’d had in the drawer forever and started using it, only to realize that I LOVED it. It sank into my skin immediately, made it feel hydrated but not gunky, AND it’s one of the few products I’ve ever used that hydrated my undereyes in a way that made them look smoother and less crinkly.

I thought I’d found my holy grail face moisturizer in an inexpensive multipurpose lotion. I just went to buy more and all I could find was this one, labeled “daily moisturizing lotion”. The new version is NOTHING like the old one, feels greasier, doesn’t absorb or hydrate as well as the old one, leaves a film, and does nothing for my undereyes where the old one was amazing.

I don’t see why companies have to ruin a perfectly good product that people love and replace it with a worse one. Please bring the old formula back!.

I was using another “HG” drugstore face lotion for years but the formula changed suddenly and I started having horrible breakouts. I have never in my life had an issue with breakouts so I knew it I had to find something asap.

Desperate, I bought this after watching Dr Dray on YouTube and seeing how much she recommends this brand. In just three days of using this lotion, the redness around my nose and cheeks has all but vanished and my face feels supple and smooth.

It’s super lightweight and not tacky, which is what I need in the summer. My breakouts have already started to improve as well. Extremely happy with this so far and hoping the improvement in my skin continues since this lotion is very affordable.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. The very first thing I noticed when I opened the lotion fully was the scent. It’s very subtle, but it quickly became one of my favorite scents– almost reminiscent of baby powder.

The lotion came out very smoothly and rubbed in well, which was a definite plus. The packaging itself is very simple and elegant, and I enjoy the look of it overall. The only downside I noticed is that the inside of the lid gets messy pretty quickly after use, but it’s easy to clean so it isn’t a big deal in the slightest.

Overall, I can definitely see this becoming a part of my daily routine– I love the way my skin feels after just the first time using it.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. My toddler has sensitive skin so I usually buy fragrance free lotions for him. This body lotion has a very light scent that disappears completely after about 30 minutes so it did not irritate his skin.

I also used the lotion on myself and found it to be really moisturizing on my extremely dry places such as my elbows, hands and feet. The body lotion has a thin consistency that absorbs quickly into your skin and does not leave a sticky or heavy feeling.

My skin feels soft for the whole day and I only need to reapply the lotion on my hands and elbows to keep them moisturized.

I’ve used this lotion for several years and loved it. This is the first time that I noticed instantly that it wouldn’t absorb completely into my skin (hands). It leaves an “oily” residue that just won’t absorb and it’s making a mess of my phone screen and tablet screen.

Greasy fingerprints everywhere. Also, my hands are dryer. Not soft anymore. I know on the back of the bottle it has said for a long time that some ingredients are “imported. ” Whatever change you made this time Curel….

I’m done. I’m tired of so many companies using cheaper ingredients and or outsourcing, yet still keeping your prices the same while quality suffers and WE are stuck with an inferior product. Life’s too short and I’m not going to throw my money away on your products anymore while you cut corners.

Loyal customers know when a product has changed and when it changes, it’s never a good change and it’s never done to “improve” a product for the customer, it’s done so you can make more money by using inferior ingredients.

I Love Fragrance but when my skin is super dry especially when my psoriasis acts up I use this. It’s extra hydrating, it goes deep into the layers of the skin to hydrate a lot deeper than other brands.

I love that it’s dermatology approved. My skin feels so healthy after even one use. It heals as it relieves dry skin symptoms like itching dry dusty white skin after rubbing it in is gone just like that.

Nothing showed through except my beautiful pigments of skin no more dusty powder look. It also stayed nice hydrated for 9hrs before I had to reapply.

Love that it’s fragrance-free. It’s on the richer side (not a thin lotion, but not a thick cream). Absorbs well. I use it year-round and it works well for winter. Sometimes I do use something thicker on my knuckles, elbows, and heels though.

Been Lindi Body Lotion user for about 5 years. A friend gave to me while on chemo and have continued to use. Dry skin issues are no more! Have gifted Lindi to friends on chemo and always appreciated.

While a little pricey these days, watch for the 40% sale and it makes it a little more wallet friendly.

My hands are so dry, they are like dragon skin. I was putting a name brand lotion on every hour and it would still dry right out. It would be like wind burned winter hands and they would burn the more lotion that was applied.

I am a Nurse also. This has helped so much. I am not applying lotion all day, but adding thin sun gloves to keep the moisture in adds to products ability to provide maximum benefit. N 05/19/2021.

Just as it says, this lotion is soothing and hydrating. So great for the type of general dryness chemo brings. It makes a great massage lotion too, for feet and hands, as it is not sticky and seems to glide over the skin for a while before really soaking in.

Using this on a young adult male, post chemo, and he loves the smell! That’s part of the ‘soothing’ quality as well.

Curel Ultra Healing is the ONLY lotion I use. It has a clean scent that doesn’t interfere with my perfume. I can’t think of anything to improve upon. The value is amazing! I put this lotion on my legs and arms in the morning and I don’t have to reapply! In the evening; they are STILL soft and moisturized! This is great for that dry, itchy winter skin or in the summer when you have had a bit too much sun.

I have such dry skin. Like superrrr dry all the time. I bought this on a whim because it was decently priced and it’s a good size bottle. I liked the consistency of this lotion and how easily it absorbs into the skin.

It didn’t really cure my dry skin but it was alright. I would consider repurchasing in the future.

For years, I couldn’t break through the dry-looking, scaly skin on my legs. Didn’t matter what moisturizer or exfoliant I tried or how many emollient and oily products I applied. I tried Uradin Lotion 10, and it has eliminated that perpetually dusty look.

My legs (and other parts) are soft, smooth, and glowy–even without oil. I use it kind of as a serum a lot of the time. I’ll apply a modest amount, let it sink in, and finish with an emollient moisturizer.

All Isdin products I’ve tried have what I consider to be intense fragrance. I don’t love that aspect, but the quality performance of Uradin Lotion 10 is high enough that I can overlook it.

What can I say? Well I love more than just one of their products. Always Packaged with kindness and care. I believe Lovely skin tries very hard getting to we the concerned, and or aging products that are natural.

I received a free sample of Hand to Heal, an herbal cream for use after chemotherapy to help with the drying effects of chemo on your hands and feet, from Influenster and CamWell Botanical, in return for my honest review of same.

I had no idea how persistent the chemotherapy would be and for how long after the treatment stopped that I would feel the effects of it. 3 years later and I still feel parched, like I can never get enough hydration in my body.

I tried this cream from CamWell and have found it really does make my skin feel better. It took a few weeks of daily use, and there is a pretty awful smell associated with the cream which made it hard to use every day, but with persistence I was able to rehydrate my dry skin.

I am not sure why things that are so good for us tend to have bad smells associated with them, but this one is well worth the investment of time it took to get past the smell. My hands and feet now feel more normal and not as scratchy as they were before using this cream.

I would recommend to others as long as they are not overly affected by odors. I don’t think I could have handled the smell while I was actively receiving chemo injections because even the slightest smell made me nauseous at the time.

However, now that I am past the chemo and the cancer is in remission, I would definitely recommend to other cancer patients whose skin was dry like mine.

I received this hand cream from influenster. I just got home yesterday after having my second hip replacement. Ever since my cancer treatment in 2012 my skin has been having some rough periods. I was told I developed psoriatic arthritis and I get a lot of cracking in the palms of my hands in addition to other places on my body.

Anyhow, since the surgery I am toe touch weight bearing which means I have to put all my weight on my left leg and of course the palms of my hands on the walker. I was getting a lot of pain in my palms.

I remembered I had this cream I put it on the sore spots and they had literally instant relief. The only downfall of this product is the scent. Even though it’s not strong it is not pleasant. I’m going to keep using this and I will do a follow-up review.

I’m not sure who thought a brown color that smells off putting would be a good thing, but yes, this product is brown. When I was doing chemo, I would not have tolerated the smell and the look of it what so ever.

That being said this product hydrates my hands very well. But I looked at the price and quite honestly $25 for a small bottle is highway robbery. Cancer is hard enough, I know so many cancer patients who struggle with finances while undergoing treatment and you’re going to market a product that helps people in some of the hardest times of their life – to price it this high for such a small bottle should be criminal.

Any one who has undergone chemotherapy understands the side effects it not only has on your body but also your skin. This hand to heal cream is an excellent product to calm hand to foot syndrome, neuropathy, heal damage to the skin and hydrates dry cracked feet/hands.

My hand and feet we extremely dry and no other creams have helped speed the process of healing other then Camwell. The only reason I rated this product 4 stars is because at first it does have a strange scent but over time you will get use to it because this cream does work in the long run! To all the comments about the bad smell, this product is formulated with the active ingredient: lactic acid. Lactic acid is traditionally derived from sour milk. Lactic acid works as an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) to gently exfoliate dead skin and also as a humectant drawing water into the skin for hydration.

Cleopatra of Egypt would bathe in goat’s milk to get the same effect. It’s not fair to rate a product poorly if you are not educated on how it works. Sometimes ingredients in their natural form do not smell pleasant.

I appreciate that the company does not add artificial fragrance to this product making it suitable for various skin types.

I bought this product because I break out on my upper body and have some acne scars I would like to fade. I cannot testify to how well the product works at this moment because I have only been using it for a couple days.

However please listen to the reviews that say this stuff stinks. It literally smells like rotten milk. I thought the other reviews were exaggerating and that I would be able to handle it and that is not the case.

I have to put my fenty or sol de Janeiro body butter over top of the areas I put the lotion on (arms, shoulders, back, chest, and of course hands) or else I’ll smell it while I’m trying to sleep. The stench will seep through my clothes it’s so strong.

I may write another review on the efficiency of the product after I have finished the bottle or start to see results whichever comes first.

It’s shocking how good this product is. I have KP on my arms and a dermatitis on my legs that I’ve been struggling to treat. After applying this to my arms one time, I noticed an improvement in the texture and color of my skin.

It’s taken longer to see results on my legs, but it’s definitely helping. Be aware: this is an exfoliating product. Slight tingling is normal at first if you’re not used to using chemical exfoliants.

Also the smell is a bit unpleasant but not too overpowering. My only cons are the scent and that they don’t make this product available in a larger bottle.

My dermatologist recommended this product for my thin skin and excessive bruising on my arms. I initially used the cream, which I love, but with my arthritic hands, it is sometimes hard to squeeze out of the tube.

The pump is so much easier, and the lotion is very rich and moisturizing. My arms are so much softer, with very rare bruising. I must be honest that it is winter and my arms are covered most of the time, so I hope I have the same results this summer.

Also, I have always used moisturizer on my arms daily, but with this addition, they are definitely better. The texture of my 69 year old sun damaged arms is softer.

Curel is a brand name known for its dry skin solutions. I am very price conscious and haven’t purchased Curel in the past because there are other brands who claim to have the same results, yet at a lower price.

I haven’t found my “ultimate cure” lotion yet, and was pleased to try Curel Ultra Healing Intensive Lotion. My first impression was that the lotion was very thin and had little substance when applying it.

Other lotions are thick and seem to work into the cracks and crevices of my dry skin. The Curel Ultra Healing was thin and didn’t seem to go into my dry skin cracks as well. After applying, I expected to feel some protective layer to hold the moisture into my dry skin areas, yet didn’t see or feel any added protection.

I have now used the Curel Ultra Healing Lotion for two days and have seen no remarkable results to my dry skin. I would recommend it as a regular skin lotion, yet see no “ultra healing” properties to my dry and cracked skin.

Unexpectedly, for the first time in my life, all of my body experiences extremely dry skin and itch. That means it’s flaky, dry like wood and some part like old age skin that in the morning my skin so badly get hurts, and in the middle of the night because of the dryness and itches I MUST put something on that! I tried several lotions that were used for dry skin highly creamy, or contain coco butter special for relieve skin, or hydrating lotions but none work.

I tried to use normal body oil, or even the skin therapy body oil coca butter on my skin first and then lotion still didn’t work (all of these were good only for 2-3 hours)! Until I tried this last night, and AMAZINGLY IT HELPED A LOT! My skin is NOT as flaky or dry like wood as it was; the time between each application of lotion is getting way much longer and I can feel how som part of my skin got VERY SOFT AND SMOOTH! The itch is getting much better! By the way the lotion is not oily and it will absorb by the skin.

I have been enjoying CeraVE Daily Moisturizing Lotion for Normal to Dry Skin several years because the formula provides hydration to my face without ever clogging my pores. Although I wish CeraVe was cruelty-free, I find myself continually repurchasing many of their items because they work well with my skin.

I’m never left feeling greasy because this lotion has dimethicone. Dimethicone is a silicone-based ingredient that provides skin with a silky smooth texture, helps seal your natural moisture barrier, and fills in fine lines and wrinkles.

This instant blurring effect combined with a balanced level of moisture makes this lotion a perfect lotion for the face since you only need a little bit if you have more oily skin. I even use the cream formula of CeraVe in the tub that’s also meant for body, on my face and never have had any breakouts from these formulas.

When using this lotion, remember a little goes a long way, wash your hands before applying, and use it on your neck/chest area. This lotion is lightweight, water-based, has glycerin which will lock in moisture, has no fragrance which can avoid irritation, and has several different ceramides.

I’ve got normal skin that leans more dry in the winter and oily in the summer. I am acne prone and have recently finished six months of acne medication. I have used this before and during my treatment, and will continue to use it as long as it’s made! When I’m doing my skincare, I typically alternate between using a salicylic acid toner, a retinol, a niacinamide serum, and a hyaluronic acid serum (depending on what my skin needs).

If I’m using my toner, I apply the toner to clean, dry skin and then apply this moisturizer on top. If I’m using my retinol or either serum, I mix them into this moisturizer and apply it as one concoction onto damp skin.

When I’m moisturizing my body, I apply it while my body is still wet coming out of the shower. I also use this moisturizer as a prep for my makeup! Overall, I absolutely love this moisturizer! It is basic in a good way! It has a gentle, non-scented formula that I can use on my face and body.

It looks great under makeup and always keeps my skin hydrated. This moisturizer sinks in perfectly without leaving behind a greasy, oily, or sticky residue. My skin can also breathe through this moisturizer, which I’ve never found in a moisturizer that simultaneously checks my other boxes! Another great feat, it’s drugstore pricing in simple/functional packaging.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone looking for a classic moisturizer!.

I have used all face lotions, body lotions, creams, oils, serums. I suffer from eczema, cystic acne, dry/oily, rough patch, large pores, blackheads, skin. I purchased all the expensive name brand treatments, subscription, prescriptions.

Nothing worked. It wasn’t until I turned 25 that I started to get acne and I went on a product binge to try and save my skin. After a couple years of going broke and overloading my pores, I finally saw a dermatologist and I started Acutance.

(Oof 😵‍💫. It worked) the only lotion my derma recommended that was budget friendly was Cereve. He said it wouldn’t clog the pores, no scents, no harsh chemicals and was safe to use on my extremely sensitive skin.

It’s been 3 years since my Acutance treatment and I still only use Cereve. The lotion is light but hydrating and I appreciate not having a eucalyptus plant shoved up my nose. You don’t need artificial fragrances on your skin people! 😂👍🤌.

If you are familiar with CeraVe you will LOVE this EltaMD product. True to its name it is very moisture rich and has a lovely texture that melts into your skin. The scent is scant (if you’re familiar with Dove white soap that soap has more of a smell) if noticeable at all and it is definitely for those with super dry or sensitive skin.

My dermatologist was quite intrigued when I showed it to her. As it is not as widely available as CeraVe this may not be a brand everyone knows but once you’ll try it you may never look back. My one complaint is the tube format.

Tubes always mean some waste (think toothpaste). Hopefully EltaMD will consider a larger format like a tub.

You can trust the “MD” in this body crème. Not only does it make my skin feel soft and supple; it also has improved the texture of my skin, with daily use. Skin thins as we age, but EtnaMD’s formula strengthens your skin.

I love this stuff! My skin had gone really dry with patches of keratosis pilaris. After spending way too much money on various moisturizers from the drugstore, I added this to my last order figuring I’d try one last product.

I love EltaMD’s face moisturizers, foaming face wash and sun block so I figured this might be fairly decent. Within three days my skin was feeling much softer. Two weeks later all the patches of dry skin and keratosis pilaris were gone.

It goes on smooth and isn’t greasy or sticky. Highly recommend.

I have had problems with dry crusty heels for years and have tried many products without improvement. U-Lactin works! I put it on my foot at bedtime, wrap the affected area in Saran Wrap and cover with a sock.

Next morning, remove covering, shower and remove dead skin cells with pumice stone. Rub on more lotion, without using Saran Wrap, for your daily activities. I have done this for one week and have 98% improvement.

I’m thinking another week and I’ll be 100% improved. This is truly a product that works!.

Decades ago my dermatologist recommended lotion containing 10% urea for my hands. U-LACTIN fits that criterion. I’ve been using such ever since, with excellent results. Last year, while visiting my daughter who is 25 yrs younger, she remarked on the softness of my hands.

As a pharmacist this is the best lotion I have found. My patients have done very well with U-LACTIN. No fragrance, No alcohol. Some lotions will actually make your dry skin worse. They may be greasy or may absorb too quickly.

U-LACTIN feels great when applied and for a long time after applied. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. You will not be disappointed.

This is great fragrance free moisturizing lotion. It goes on smooth and the texture isn’t super thick but it definitely goes on feeling like a heavier moisturizer so if you prefer light moisturizers that sink in super fast I wouldn’t recommend this one.

However it works great during the winter and especially helps keep my feet moisturized year round. Also helps a lot when you’re pregnant, kept my skin from being itchy when my belly grew during the third trimester.

Nice thick cream, slightly scented. I use it after bathing and the next morning my skin feels so smooth and hydrated. I especially like the packaging: instead of 1 big tube you get 3 sachets (60ml) made with recycled paper, so it’s sustainable and always fresh!.

This cream is fine for what it does, I gave an extra star for the eco friendly packaging. It’s lightweight and quickly absorbs into skin, however it leaves a little bit of a waxy residue. My biggest complaint is the smell.

It smells like cherry vanilla, not rose and I didn’t find it particularly pleasant.

I love the smell of cinnamon so bought this. It does cause skin to redden as it’s it quite strong. I mixed it with coconut oil and applied it that way the next time. I smelled like a giant cinnamon Altoid mint and avoided the redness reaction.
