20 Best Lotion For Fake Tan (2023 Updated)

This stuff is FANTASTIC. I used this for a trip to Disney world because I don’t like to get actual sun damage, but I do like to look a wee bit tan. My skin looked gorgeous – but some notes on use do follow below.

First, exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate. Scrub your a** off. I wish I would have done a better job on and under my chest, as well as on my heels. Make sure to scrub the dry parts of your body like knees and elbows, knuckles and hands really well.

Before you apply, slather your knees and elbows as well as other dry spots like heels with a generous amount of lotion. Let that rest about 10 minutes and don’t rub it off. For best results, use a tanning lotion applicator mitt and rub in circles.

Apply so that you can feel enough lotion to be smoothly applying to your body, but not so much that you can feel your hand slipping around. Rub in as well as you can. Take your time. Patience is key.

Do the larger parts of your body first – legs, arms, and torso – then the smaller parts like face, neck, hands, and feet. YOU WILL NOT SEE ANY COLOR AT ALL. None whatsoever. When this bottle says it takes 2 days for your tan to really appear, it isn’t kidding.

I don’t recommend showering after the first 8 hours at all if you want a really dark tan; just let it go until the next night. When you do wash, make sure you use a scrub or exfoliate lightly on your dry spots and underarms.

However, pretty much immediately (maybe a max of an hour) after applying to your hands and feet, rinse with water and the juice of a lemon on your palms as well as toenails and fingernails using a nail brush.

Trust me when I say you pretty much have to choose between kinda pale fingertips/toes or kinda orange fintertips/toes and the kinda pale ones are way less noticeable. The scent of this stuff is classic self-tanner, to me it’s no more no less gross than the others.

I will say: apply this no more than 2 days before you want to use it, because especially if you’ll be sweating or if your clothes rub you (like my bra did on my underbust area), I do think it only lasts about 3 days.

However, it’s still deserving of a great rating because it’s not at all orange and looks genuinely like a real tan. I did apply lightly and following all the tips above, so I think my results were particularly good as well.

Super duper recommend this stuff for anyone looking for a natural, golden tan without all the sun damage! Not super long lasting but it does work great, look gorgeous, and resemble genuine sun-kissed skin.

I am familiar with a wide variety of sunless tanning products available. I like lotion-style self-tanning products because I find them to be less sticky and easier to apply. I apply them regularly and am familiar with various methods of application.

I would consider myself good at putting the products on. The Bronze Tan self-tanning lotion is easy to work with and has produced noticeable results. I used my hands for the application so that I can have more precision.

The lotion does have a nice smell on application but ends up with a slight self-tanner smell after time passes. Proper skin preparation and even application are very important with this lotion as it will streak or it lays heavy in areas that were covered more than others.

I thought that I applied it evenly everywhere. However, on the inside of my forearm, I had heavy streaking. I also had streaks around my ankles and feet. My skin changed 3 shades darker. It had a slightly orange hue that did not look natural in sunlight.

The tan lasted for five days as described. I then used the shower technique with this lotion (put it on after the shower still wet/damp) I tried this cream directly after a shower without drying off and I had better results.

I did not get as tan but the color was pretty and natural. I did not have streaks as I did before. I will continue to use this lotion dry and update with use.

I have tried several different self tanning lotions in the past and I always ended up with streaks, hands that looked like I used a self tanner, I smelled like I used a self tanner or the tanner just didn’t look natural.

I have finally found the best self tanner out there–all my problems have been solved! I was a little skeptical when I first went to try this–it just looks like lotion–I used it on my face, arms and legs.

I didn’t use a mitt to apply it, just used my hands. After applying I waited 10 minutes for it to dry and then I put on a WHITE t-shirt, I was a little nervous, but had no stains on my shirt. I didn’t really pay attention to how my tan looked until later that night and was so surprised because it just looked so natural.

I didn’t have any streaks or lines, everything just looked so natural. In fact, people are like, you are so tan–did you just go on vacation! This tanner smells pretty good, just has a slight undertone of the tanning smell.

You don’t need a lot to get some good color. Also, the tanner doesn’t flake off or look weird–I plan on applying this weekly, just to keep my color up. Overall, I am very impressed with this lotion and plan on buying more and using it a lot!!.

Y’all, I am not kidding. This is my absolute favorite product. I used to go to tanning beds when I was younger until I actually saw my skin beginning to age. Unfortunately, I developed some sun damage on my face.

I started using this self-tanner, and it has been amazing! They sell a spray and a lotion, but the lotion is the holy grail of self-tanner. Exfoliate your entire body and then apply this lotion. Wait a few hours and then wash it off.

Reapply every 5 days or so, and you will look bronze and glorious all summer with NO skin damage! The only bad part about this product is that it doesn’t smell great. It’s not streaky and it’s NOTHING like those awful Sally Hansen ones if you’ve had the misfortune to try them.

I used a tanning bed for several years until I started noticing what it was doing to my skin, especially on my chest area. Living in the South we wear summer clothing 8-9 months out of the year so if your not tanned you feel like an outcast.

Last summer I tried the self tanner, Tan Physics which is a great product. I can honestly say that I believe Fake Bake is just as good. It gives you a nice color. It’s a dark lotion so you can see where you are applying it.

It does have a little smell but nothing I can’t handle. I put it on at night after I shower and by morning the smell is gone. I put on an application about twice a week because I tan either at the pool or beach on the weekends.

This lotion enhances my tan. I have been very impressed with this self tanner and will continue to use it. I just purchased my 2nd bottle so that I will have a spare when my 1st has been used up. I am very please with this product.

Honestly, I don’t understand how some people do not like this self tanner. It is THE best color and doesn’t streak for me. People, USE the mitt, do not try and apply this with gloves or bare hands. As long as you shower, exfoliate and apply this to completely dry skin you will not have any issues.

I am olive toned complexion so the color guard works better for me than most. Try a little bit at a time and really learn to buff with the mitt. Overall, I always come back to fake bake. Absolutely love this original lotion and the smell is very bearable compared to other self tanners.

I was hesitant at first about this tanning lotion since this was the first product from this line, but after using the lotion on multiple different occasions throughout the year, I can honestly say this lotion is truly the best out there.

This product really does give you a nice yet subtle tan without the hassle of a mousse or tanning mitts. It does not leave you with an orange-y tint either which is what I was initially afraid of when first applying the product since so many other lotions on the market today end up turning you too “fake” looking and streaky, but i can honestly say this lotion does the opposite which is so REFRESHING to see.

My only complaint is the after smell: Initially the Sandalwood smell is pleasant when first applied onto the skin, but after a couple of days, I do notice that the tan starts smelling like your typical “tanning lotion” which I was hoping wouldn’t happen with this formula! That said, this could just be the way my body is reacting to the lotion as it seems like other reviews do not mention having the same issue with the smell as I do so probs dependent on the user at the end of the day.

Either way, the tan smell is not unbearable or too noticeable IMO, so I would say this product is a 10/10 for me and something I will always keep in my bathroom for year around use!.

lol like the title says the self tanning cream is AMAZING. I’ve been self tanning for about 10 years now so you can imagine I’ve tried them all – Loving Tan, St. Tropez, Bondi Sands, GloPro Tan, St. Moriz, Vita Liberata, professional spray tans, you name it.

Although I like the mousse for the fact that it’s an instant, extra dark bronze, nothing beats the lasting power of this lotion. I used to tan every Sunday night with my ultra dark mousse, shower the next morning as you should, and I would get a strong 2-3 days out of it before it started patching on my hands, inside arms, neck, and feet.

I cannot recommend this self tanning lotion enough – I’ve gone through about 6 bottles so far and always keep 3 on hand. It’s creamy, easy to blend, smells nice, and most importantly, gives you a good, buildable tan that lasts through everyday showers and baths for a good week.

I also really like that you don’t have to use a mitt, just make sure to wash your palms otherwise those will turn dark. The color it gives it very sun kissed, definitely more of a warm based tan but NOT ORANGE.

I am naturally a very, very pale, pink tone, usually a step up from the lightest generic foundation, so the first night I apply I don’t see a huge difference but you can tell my overall tone is a little darker and a lot more even.

The second application the following night is when the magic happens – this is when it matches my dark tanning mousse that I love. After using it two nights in a row I will switch to a regular lotion for a couple nights and then maybe use the self tanning cream one more time before I totally exfoliate my body and start over.

The packaging is to die for and the ingredients are incredible, it actually leaves your skin feels hydrated unlike my other mousse self tanners. The last thing I’m going to say is I just purchased the self tanning drops and have used those a couple of times on my face – love, and have been mixing them with the lotion to get a deeper bronze, again, LOVE.

I’ve only used that routine twice now and I am noticeably darker than when I just use the lotion, and I haven’t broken out from the drops yet either. I’m sure they will become just as much as a staple in my routine as the lotion.

My absolute favorite tanning product to date!!! Very hydrating, doesn’t smell bad, doesn’t have to be showered off the next day, no streaking or unevenness, very real looking, doesn’t stain the hands, doesn’t stain clothes or bedding, and incredibly easy and hassle free.

It offers great buildable color if you aren’t looking for an intense mouse type dark tan which might only be able to be achieved with that type of product but it is soo amazing, I don’t see myself ever going without this product and am so grateful to find such an easy to use tanner.

12 face product as other face tanners dried my skin out and this is the only one I have found that doesn’t do that so bonus for me on not having to wear foundation any longer. I paid for this product in full and have no affiliation with this brand and normally do not write reviews but its that good and I couldn’t not take the chance to hype it up in case someone is on the fence about buying it.

This facial self tanner has everything you could want in a self tanner. The smell dissipates after it is rubbed in and the cream absorb nicely. I used it in place of my normal moisturizer and I didn’t feel like the moisture was lacking.

This left a nice, natural-looking glow, however it was very subtle so it took a few applications to achieve my desired result. I will say it is very pricey for what it does, although it was light and didn’t have the drawbacks of most high street self tanners.

I probably wouldn’t purchase this in full size given the price because the same results can be achieved with more affordable products.

If I don’t use a fake tan on my face I look ill! But I can never find a good time to apply it ie when I know my face definitely won’t be touching anything eg my hand or a pillow. The Sisley cream is brilliant in this respect because I put it on in the morning underneath my moisturiser & there’s no fuss whatsoever.

It loses one star because it recommends that you use it 3-4x per week but that’s just not enough because it washes off too easily so I need to use it every day in order to maintain a nice light tan. It loses the second star because it’s overpriced imo.

(Doesn’t stop me buying it obviously – just makes it sting a bit when I do!!).

I received a 4ml size version of this from SpaceNK. I’m not a fan of tanning products but after some time decided to give it a try. I have pale skin but the colour is white so you don’t really see it going on.

It doesn’t really have a strong scent which I like but isn’t as moisturising as I like (although is fine once I apply my spf over it). You really don’t need much and a subtle, natural tan develops fairly quickly.

I won’t be buying as it’s not my thing and isn’t hydrating enough. However, that the 4ml size lasted for weeks, it’s actually very good value for money.

This is a great self tanner works as well as the expensive brands bought from Sephora. I was extremely hesitant about putting a self tanner all over my body when I was wet so I just did my legs since I could eat pants and cover them up if they looked crazy, but Jergens knocked it out of the park with this product.

I didn’t have any streaks on my legs whatsoever but did have a little splotchiness near my heels. The next time I used Jergens tanner I put moisturizer on my heels, knees, hands and wrists before applying tanner once it was applied I then used a bath towel to lightly rub/buff my wrist so the color would blend nicely with the palms of my hands.

Moisturizing and buffing worked like a charm drastically helped and I was left with a beautiful natural tan that had no orange color to it like so many self tanners do. Another plus is so many self tanners smell tank and within a few hours leave you with a strong odor after it’s applied and started to work, but this product smells great.

Lastly, it did not stain my clothes and I got dressed within 5 minutes of applying. So if you’re in the mood for a tan but do not have hours to sit in the sun, this is the product for you trust me, you won’t be disappointed!.

I always get the Medium-Deep self tanners so I don’t have to use as much on my fair skin. I’m outdoors quite a bit, but having to be covered to do yard work I don’t get much sun. I also used to tan in beds back in highschool and am currently dealing with damage from doing so.

SO, sunless tanning has become an obsession of mine (ones that last, are affordable, and don’t require a specialist) I stumbled across this looking through new tanning options and the in shower lotion intrigued me.

Usually application would be at night in old clothes to prevent smearing etc, but this!! This stuff is absolutely amazing!! I’ve only used it 3 times in 2 weeks to see how the tan builds up, and you can see for yourself the #beforeandafter of this! It also uses such a small amount to cover your body after shower, this product has truly blown my mind! I HIGHLY recommend trying this stuff! No patchiness, not orange, and I truly look naturally tan!.

I was an hardcore fan of the regular moisturizer firming in med-dark since it came out. Decided to try this wet one. Game changer! I feel it worked faster. My skin is super soft. I’ve been using it daily for a week and I don’t know if I’m hallucinating but I didn’t have to shave midweek.

Shaved a week later because of some stubble that wasn’t even that noticeable but have an event. Fragrance is very subtle and pleasant. Don’t know if the regular moisturizer changed fragrance wise but that ome smelled A LOT (not bad but just too much).

I am definitely staying with this wet moisturizer from now on. I’ve been using it on my legs since my arms are tanned from swimming. Inner wrist shows my normal skin color.

I have this one and the spray version, and I love them both. Believe me when I say I have tried EVERY brand of self tanner out there. drugstore and High end. This one gives you instant color that STAYS and does not smell at all! It is great to put on last minute before going out if you are feeling pale, because unlike the other brands it will not look orange as it develops and will not have an odor.

Between this one and the spray version, I do like the spray better though!.

I’ve purchased many self tanning lotions and this one has worked the best for me. Never turns me orange and the lotion is never a dark hidious green when I open it. Yay!!!

Works well, I was scared at first because of how dark it is but it rubs in good gradually builds up. I like the smell too. Make sure you rub it in as soon as it touches your skin because it stains very fast.

When applying to your face I recommend moisturizing right after to even out the color. I received mine in the fall 2016 Beautycon box.

The scent of the lotion is light and pleasant, almost a tropical scent. I was able to use about a quarter size amount for one of my legs. I was initially concerned about the color of the lotion, but this helped me spread it evenly.

I noticed a slight difference after application. It wasn’t until later that day when I noticed a real difference. The tan is a natural color. A week later I still have that sun kissed look. I would recommend Jergans Natural Glow Instant Sun.

I was using jergens natural glow firming for over 6 years then they changed the scent. The smell was OK but so strong it was overbearing for me. So I searched for a new sunless tanner tried many different brands.

Came across this and the smell is light not overbearing and I like it has a tint to the lotion you know where you are applying the product. I did try the mouse but did not like the consistency was drying for my skin type.

I hope they don’t discontinue this or change the scent because this is by far in my opinion the best self tanner that I have tried.

Overall, this is a great product. No weird smells or streaky color, just a beautiful tan. It didn’t rub off on my clothes and after using it 4 days ago the color is still going strong. My only complaint is that the lotion is a bit greasy.

Not overly, just enough for me to notice and stick to my sheets a bit. But for the instant color, and the tan that remains after washing it off, I think it’s worth it. I love that it isnt an overpowering smell, as well as how it glides on smooth.

I was initially excited to use this product, so I could keep a bit of summer with me through the fall. I have used other gradual self-tanners, but really loved the idea of a kinder and more conscious option.

I selected a pretty light one because obviously the idea of being too tan is pretty terrifying. My legs are pretty light, so I was disappointed when I didn’t see results after days and days of use. Perhaps I didn’t select one dark enough, and that would totally be on me, but I ended up being pretty disappointed.

The other disappointing quality was that the smell isn’t pleasant. It isn’t awful but, if I’m putting a product on my body, it should either smell like nothing or it should have a pleasant fragrance, and unfortunately this was not the case.

Who doesn’t love a sun kissed glow? Especially when summer is ending and you just don’t want to let it go! B. tan just shut up and sun kiss me helps to give you a natural looking tan and doesn’t make you look fake at all.

The mitt helps to evenly spread the tanner and not stain your hands and it help reach every where you need to. The tanner of course like any other has a “tanning” smell to it but it’s subtle and fades with time.

I’m definitely loving b. tan and will recommend it to any looking to glow!.

I have like ghost pale skin. I also do not tan naturally, never have. I tried this for several weeks with no noticeable effect. I did not use any other products while using this (minus normal showering and did not shave within 48 hours of use) I wasn’t expecting much anyway but not even a light peach to my ghost white.

I do love the brand and will continue to use other products made by them. This is just not a product I will use again.

I have very fair skin that doesn’t tan easily; my skin just burns and becomes red in the sun, so I thought this would be the perfect solution. It takes a couple of applications (usually a few days, I apply once a day) to start noticing any color.

It’s not full coverage or heavy so it looks more natural, but it can be streaky and patchy, especially on the back of your legs, knees, and top of your feet. The biggest problem with this lotion is that it colors other surfaces orange.

It stains bed sheets, light colored clothing, towels, and natural nails (nails with no polish on them). It does seem to wash out after a couple of washes, but I wish it was completely transfer-free. I also don’t care for the fragrance, and it can feel greasy.

It’s suppose to smell like coconut oil but personally, I smell buttered popcorn! Overall, this lotion is just okay if you want to color your legs quickly, but it’s not the best product and I don’t think I will be purchasing it again next summer due to all of these negative factors.

I used to use this daily before there were a million other brands that created similar self tan products. And I will choose any of the other new brands of Jergens now. Using this daily, it would only give my skin a very light shade darker.

Not even noticeable at all. And I was very fair skinned. The positives of the product: with food circular motion application, I never had streaks. As with any self tan, you have to be careful around elbows, knees, hands and feet.

Best advice for those areas is too use a less dense foundation makeup brush and lightly blend the lotion into those areas using the brush. This also never made me orange so that’s a plus! And it doesn’t leave that gross self tanner smell either.

Maybe this could work for someone that wants a very light glow, but for me I want something that is actually going to make me a couple shades more tan.

I first tried this product 3 years ago. I wanted a lotion that I could afford (in my very small budget) because I have super dry skin. I also wanted it to be self tanning to help me not look so pasty during the winter months.

Not only is this brand affordable but it also moisturizes my skin without leaving it feeling greasy and it gives your skin a nice radiant and clean look. Consistency is key with this lotion in order for you to be tan if you have a more fair tone color or lighter skin like myself but it doesn’t take long to see results! Your skin gradually looks more tan and even without all of the cons of other self tanners.

PLUS. Helps your skin looking smoothe and gives you a nice clean glow to your face without actually having to put on tons of makeup! This is definitely worth buying and adding into your daily skin care routine! OH! I almost forgot.

I have tried almost every lotion out there over the years thinking that someone will eventually get it all right in ONE bottle. To say I was crazy happy is a understatement! The first thing I noticed when I opened the tube was the smell, it took me back to sandy beaches and tropical drinks.

Smells like coconuts and sugar! I love that the lotion itself isn’t colored, as I applied it felt like silk and was a smooth application. I do like to use my finger to apply, no mitt, ( I use a nail brush to scrub my hands after applying) and the reason is that it gives me a sense of the real quality and texture, as well as the smell that usually makes me toss it quickly.

With this lotion, you will have no worries. It also didn’t stain my clothing, sheets, etc. NO orange glow with this, no one would never guess it was a sunless tanner. What I’ve noticed since using this everyday, and yes it sounds crazy, but it also has softened the wrinkling we all get on our neck.

I’m in my 40’s and don’t have a huge amount of wrinkles, but I hate the few I have on my neck, but this is a miracle in a bottle, so to speak. I will always leave a honest review , doesn’t matter if it is good OR bad.

As for myself I love everything about this🌴.

Prior to application, I took a shower and used the exfoliating mitt all over and shaved. Then after drying off, I applied the tanning lotion with the tanning mitt. I just put it on as I would normal lotion.

I’ve only ever used foaming self-tanner, which is way more difficult to spread evenly. The only place that this tanner appeared uneven was on my elbows and the top of my foot/ankle where I have dry areas.

I did exfoliate and apply lotion to those areas prior, but will try to avoid those areas better next time. Doesn’t look bad at all though compared to the foaming tanners I’ve used!!My skin (as you can see) is normally very white with red undertones, and kind of veiny so a tan does me so good!! I did one later all over, then about 8 hrs later as the color fully developed (since the lotion is white initially), I did another application on my arms and legs.

The photos attached were taken after that second application, the following morning. THE TAN DID NOT RUB OFF ON MY CLOTHES OR ON MY WHITE SHEETS! So amazing. I’m very happy with the confidence-boosting results 🤩.

So far I have used the body tanning lotion, face tanning lotion, tan extend lotion and hand mitt. I haven’t really needed the exfoliator, immediate tan lotion and brush. I have followed what some users have done putting on the lotions at night.

I shave my legs that morning and don’t put any lotions on during the day. I wash my face right before application. So far works great that way. I have used the tanning lotions on my face, chest, back, arms and legs.

The arms and legs last the longest. I wash my face twice a day so that fades more quickly. I have fair skin tone and the dark is a natural tan color for me. I just washed the mitt for the first time.

I used it for a few weeks without washing on both face and body. I didn’t wash my hands very well after using it the first time and it tinted under my fingernails even though I used the mitt. So make sure you wash your nails for sure after application.

I have shaved my legs in between applications and some color seems to stay despite shaving. The color fades naturally. I have noticed a little color transfer on pressure points of clothing such as elastic legs and on shoulders with bra straps.

This is the best sunless tanning product I have found. I like it.

I am in love with this body bronzer! Beautiful color that isn’t orange or shimmery at all. Gel formula is super easy and quick to apply and blend with an applicator mitt. No streaks or weird color build-up on ankles/feet that I’ve experienced with other brands.

I hate using DHA self-tanners, so I’ve been looking for the perfect wash-off bronzer and THIS IS IT. The price is affordable, the color is lovely and it applies evenly and doesn’t transfer. The only downside is that I don’t care for the fragrance, but at least it’s better than that unmistakable self-tanner smell.

I use this on my legs in the summer and I feel confident wearing shorts and skirts. My legs are super pale and white and this color is so nice and bronze without shimmer – just right without looking fake.

I’m so impressed with this product and so glad I found it online. I’ve tried a lot of other bronzers and this one is the best. FYI – shipping took almost two weeks so keep that in mind.

So far I love this self tanner! I have to admit I was a bit skeptical hearing this self tanner wouldn’t leave a smell as it processed but they’ve done a really great job at perfecting it! There is definitely a strong coconut smell but it’s so much better than the strong self tanner smell.

The color goes on great too, although I’d like to try the ultra dark on my skin. The dark goes on nice but would like to see a bit more color. I also love the feel of this lotion! It doesn’t feel sticky, doesn’t bother me throughout the day as I have it on.

That used to deter me from putting self tanners on more frequently was the way it felt and smelled during the day or as I slept. This goes on smooth and I almost forget I have to shower to wash it off.

I have tried over 40 self tanners in search for a relatively inexpensive subtle self tanner for my legs, which don’t match my naturally darker arms (even in winter). I am very selective about self tanners and have tried the cheapest to the most expenive.

Once or twice a week I always use B. Tan ‘Drop it Like’ on my face, which I absolutely adore (B. tan drops are nearly a perfect match for my medium-toned olive face and legs too, but for some reason B.

Tan drops and mousses don’t last as long on my legs – may be my skin there). I prefer drops to use my own moisturizer and control color depth (I use fewer drops on feet). I am so glad I tried this on my legs and not sure why I never tried this till now (also wondered why Ulta doesn’t carry?).

On me, I saw noticeable nice color after 1 applic and stopped at day 2. The color produced was a bronzy brown, no orange on me, minimal yellow (though my legs are naturally sallow this time of year so any tinges of yellow may just be my natural tone).

I really like the moisturizing aspect of a cream self tanner for winter. I exfoliate well the night before, and during application I wear surgical gloves. I did feet last w/less product. Easy application, helpful pump, no guide (which I prefer), and no mess or drama whatsoever.

I didn’t notice any transfer on clothes or sheets but used dark/old ones to be safe. Next day I noticed no streaks/missed spots. Cream blends well and I liked the scent which was not overpowering on me.

I notice a very subtle ‘self tanner smell’ next morning, though this doesn’t bother me and it went away. My skin feels great and the nice color (while not a perfect color match to arms but good) seems to have staying power, hardly any rubbing off on a white tissue after warm showers.

This is a real plus to me because personally it grosses me out when I test a tanner by wiping my legs and seeing so much come off on the white tissue after a couple showers. So far (day 3) this has been fading slowly and evenly.

My husband complimented my 50 year old tanned legs. This will not be for people who want to be super dark but I personally prefer to be less tan w/a no drama/mess product.

I received this from TopBox in exchange for my review. I’ve tried Hawaiian Tropic products before and always liked them, so I had high hopes for this! Unfortunately I was disappointed and won’t be using it anymore.

I prepped my skin as directed in the instructions, and applied the product the first night. Once it dried down completely I put some loose clothes on again, and waited to see if there was any tan like colour.

I was surprised that the next day I didn’t notice any difference! So I waited a couple more days and prepped my skin by exfoliating (which I do often anyways) then applying some just on my legs to really see if it did anything.

Within an hour or so I had some orange splotches on my knees and streaks on my legs. It looked terrible! I was very careful with application, making sure I applied evenly, but it was no use. The next day I tried exfoliating the splotches and streaks to try to remove them a bit, and they wouldn’t budge.

So I’ve had streaks orange legs for a few days now and am hoping it fades quickly. I love the scent of Hawaiian Tropic stuff, but that’s the only thing I liked about this product unfortunately. I can’t recommend it, but hope others didn’t have the same experience!.

This does go on smooth, and it smells great right out of the bottle, like a warm summer beach day. I was hopeful, based on other reviews, that it wouldn’t have that weird self-tanner smell. Initially it appeared that would be the case, but as this dried down, that smell was there and pretty strong.

It wears off, but takes a while to get to that point. I used this lotion at night after my first application, knowing that was the case and although it is still there in the morning, it is much more faint and tolerable.

The color is indeed gradual and provides a nice even color. You have to be careful to blend well on more dry areas and tops of feet, or you will get orange streaks! I have sensitive skin, but found this easily gentle enough to use on my face as well without any issues.

Overall this is a great product and one that I will continue using!.

This product has a strong smell of cocoa butter which for me is very annoying. It does not moisturize the skin at all, it is a body cream that gradually transforms. Of course, the first day the skin looks tanned, but then the skin becomes stained and that’s the most unpleasant thing.

I love this product ! Although only thing with gradual tan is that you can’t see where you apply it so you could wake up the next day patchy. the smell is okay not the best. but it’s really affordable and easy to use !✨💋.

These drops do the job – not necessarily the same job every time, but the job nonetheless. I’ve used this product as an introduction to tan drops about 7-8 times and I do really like it, but I’ve had issues with consistency.

I use it the same each time, but every resulting tan turns out slightly different from the last – sometimes my hands are extremely orange and splotchy even after washing several times during and post application, sometimes my face is unevenly tan, and sometimes there are random splotches on my legs and/or arms.

This could most definitely be user error, but I’ve consistently used the same method each time and feel like the result is always a surprise. Perhaps if I used less drops for a more subtle tan, the results would be perfect.

I first had difficulty with the tan taking on my legs as much as my upper body, but now I just do my legs twice and it works well. PROS: Easy and quick application with little to no residual smell. Love that you can mix it with whatever lotion you like.

No post-application stickiness and dries very quickly. Way less streaky than mousse tans I’ve tried. You can easily control the level of tan you prefer – you can use it for a dark all-over tan or use it to touch up a slightly faded tan in one area.

I usually do my entire body and then do my face/chest again with less drops on day 3 or 4. Lasts a surprising amount of time (usually about 7+ days for me with proper moisturizing and exfoliation). CONS: Difficult to see where you’ve previously applied product which can result in random splotches.

Relatively inconsistent. Bottle doesn’t last as long as you’d hope. Can turn hands orange even after several washes – I definitely recommend latex gloves for body and using a brush for hand application.

I’m almost through my 3rd bottle of these. Ive used two medium and one dark. Medium is my preferred color, it looks very natural with my light neutral-warm skin tone. The only drawback I find with this product is a common complaint – if I use it too many days in a row on my face, my chin and cheeks will have breakouts.

I take extra steps to combat this as well so it doesn’t happen as often. I put on my moisturizer and then apply about 3 drops to my face and rub it in well, and then a couple for my neck so it matches my face.

I’ll mix with my Sol Body Gradual Tanning lotion for my arms and hands (these areas obviously hold color better than my face that I wash and exfoliate frequently. ) I have never been splotchy, streaky, or orange with this.

And if I was, it was my sloppy application. I truly love this product. I don’t think I’ll ever use another tanning product again. Within 4-6 hours I can look in the mirror and see the difference. It’s so satisfying to put this on in the morning, and then take your make up off at night and have your skin be darker than your foundation, haha!.

I saw the tiktok video about using tanning drops as a highlighter and decided to give this trend a try. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of tanning drops before. I chose this brand first over the more expensive brands because of the decent reviews and affordable price.

Well. It works! I’ve been using the medium drops on my face 2x/ week for two weeks now. I mix four drops with my collagen cream and apply to my face at night. On one of those nights I make sure to exfoliate first.

My natural skin tone is very pale with red and pink undertones and prone to freckles and I burn instead of tanning (think Irish red head). After one use of these drops I have a nice natural glow. After two uses I look like a have a fresh tan.

Once I was happy with the results on my face I decided to use them on my whole body next. First application I was very conservative and used maybe 5 drops mixed in with my CeraVe lotion. I didn’t notice much of a difference.

But when I reapplied two days later the color development was much more noticeable. So much so my knees looked a little silly. I guess I overdid it on that spot. Be aware the drops are clear so its hard to tell if you missed a spot.

Do wear gloves or be prepared to wash your hands with soap right after applying. The one area I got a bit of orange stain was my nails.

I’m on a vacation with my husband in the Dominican for our 5th anniversary, and I bought some of this before our trip. I used it on Monday, and kept using it throughout the week…only just yesterday did I realize that the painful and extremely itchy rash that has developed on my arms was caused by this oil.

Nothing like this has EVER happened to me before, and it was my first time using this product. I’m obviously not near my home, so I can’t just go to the doctor. The concierge at the resort at which we are staying called a pharmacy to have some hydrocortisone cream delivered for me.

It cost us $40 for a tiny tube. We fly home tomorrow and I’m not sure I’ll have enough to last me until I get home. I’m very upset as this has definitely affected our vacation. I’m miserable and it’s all because of this oil.

I’m seeing now that there are tons of reviews all over the internet where people are saying this have them a horrible rash. Even if I had seen them, I probably still would have purchased this, because I have used Sun Bum products in the past with no issue, and am not allergic to ANYthing.

So instead of enjoying my last day in paradise, I am in pain and so very itchy. Even the cream doesn’t really totally relieve it. I really feel like this product should be removed from shelves until something is figured out.

I will be telling every one of my friends to steer clear of this. I really wish I hadn’t used it, but it’s too late now and I’m stuck with this agonizing rash. Please do better.

I’m on a trip with my husband in the Dominican Republic and I’ve been using this oil since Monday. I am covered in an extremely itchy and burning rash, mostly on my arms and chest. I have never reacted like this to ANYthing, so my first thought wasn’t even to blame the oil.

I bought it for this trip so that I could get a nice tan; haven’t used it before. I’ve always tanned easily so the bumpy rash that developed scared me. I haven’t been in the sun like I used to in my younger days, and assumed that I’ve just become sensitive to the sun or that the sun down here is stronger or something.

Continued using this, but kept my arms out of the sun today. now I’m seeing it start to develop on my legs where I used it. I’ve been using aloe, taking an antihistamine and ibuprofen, not realizing I was just doing this to myself! Taking a shower now to wash it off, and I’ll be returning it and making sure others know that this rash is a possibility.

I have to reiterate that I DO NOT have sensitive skin and have never reacted like this to any other product. Very frustrated that I’m taking home a rash instead of a tan. :(.

I found this stuff on the ulta website and despite mixed reviews decided to give it a try. I took this stuff with me to South Padre in hopes of laying on the beach and getting a nice tan but this stuff did not work for me at all.

Mostly because I couldn’t get it to absorb into my skin. I followed the instructions, applied sunscreen first then after giving that a few minutes to dry I applied this lotion. It just made a mess all over my swimsuit and towel.

I thought maybe the sunscreen was preventing it from absorbing completely so I tried applying this before the sunscreen and still couldn’t get it to absorb. And it has a really bad smell. Smells like cocoa butter and chocolate.

I would have returned it but I ordered it online because there’s no ulta store near me and mailing it back is more hassle than it’s worth so I ended up throwing it away and buying some banana boat tanning oil.

As a girl who needs to be about 3 shades darker than my natural skin tone at all times to be happy but also a huge stickler about sun filters and avoiding damage, I have spent my way through a small arsenal of UV-less tanning products (in addition to regular spray tans 2x per month).

Here’s my take: Pros: odor isn’t amazing, but better than most and it fades quickly. I’m pretty sensitive to smells can’t sleep in strongly scented products and I can apply this pretty close to bed time and not have a problem.

It blends well and is very easy to apply, in part because it’s super fluid (viscosity more like a serum than a lotion). It’s definitely a gradual but shows up. I keep a nice even 3 shades deeper using every other day.

In arm and leg baring season I usually keep a spray tan, one about every 10-12 days. This is the PERFECT compliment for that because it doesn’t affect the existing tan and it provides a nice base before you get sprayed and helps them last longer and the fading process between visits much more even and so much less noticeable and without any areas of stark contrast.

Cons: flip side of the very fluid texture, it can be a little tough to control and messy. I usually have a few stray drops on the floor to clean up after an application. The biggest downer, and what loses a star for me is it is ironically, very drying and provides no benefit as a moisturizer.

It’s difficult to avoid some drying from DHA but my legs get downright ashy (the tan making the dry skin a little more obvious) if I don’t alternate a “real” moisturizer in some days. On the whole though, probably the best gradual tan/spray tan maintenance product I’ve found and if then could work in some emollient to help the drying it would be pretty close to perfect.

This is the first time I have written a review on Sephora for a product, but I had to come here to rave about this Tan-Luxe self tanner. I am a pale girl with Irish skin who has been searching for years for a way to get a safe tan.

I tried Mystic Tan back in the day, plenty of different self tanning creams and, most recently, airbrush spray tans. I got tired of going on a vacation with a fresh spray tan, only to find it fading as soon as I got a massage or put any sort of oil-based product on my body.

Sunscreen lotion pools, seawater, and various body lotions and creams did the same thing. I always come home with LESS color than I had when I left for the trip. I was so sick of wasting money on spray tans that faded almost immediately, so I decided to try some new self tanners.

I was drawn to this one because it sounded like it was actually moisturizing, which I also need badly as I’m very dry. I have been thrilled with this product and will never go back to spray tanning, since I can achieve the same color with this lotion and not require an additional moisturizer on top of it.

After most showers, I squeeze some of this on a tanning mitt (also critical, I’ve learned) and rub it quickly over my legs, arms, shoulders, and neck. I believe it actually has some oil in it(?) so it is a bit drippy but it also feels hydrating.

It dries fast, I throw clothes on and am on my way. No big prep time or dry time required. The color is great. And I can then reapply whenever I want to boost it or just maintain. There smell is no different from other lotions as it develops, but I don’t mind it at all.

It’s not super fruity or flowery to cover up the tanner smell. If you don’t have time to mess around with tanning prep and spray tan annoyances, this is the lotion for you. I’m so glad I finally found it after all this time!.

First off, when this tan goes well, it’s really nice. The colour is lovely, I have very fair skin and one use gives me a natural medium glow that I really like. It develops quickly, in 2 hours (not very “gradual” at all but whatever) so it’s perfect if you don’t have 4/6 hours to sit and tan or if you don’t want to do it overnight.

On that note, don’t use this product overnight. You need to RUN to the bath quicker than you can say tan luxe if you see it developing patchy anywhere. Because when this product is patchy, it’s extremely bad news for you.

Like, “don’t leave the house until youve sloughed your body in every chemical under the sun to get it off” bad. Under any circumstances, do NOT follow the vague instructions on the bottle or use this like other gradual tans.

You can’t just slap this on with your hands like a moisturiser. I learned this the hard way. Moisturise beforehand. Everywhere. If you have any dry patches, don’t even bother. Use a glove or mitt to apply it and be extremely wary of your hands and feet or you’ll look like you just cleaned up badly after a murder.

Use a thick hand cream and do not let it touch your nails under any circumstances, unless you want to spend hours picking off the top layer of skin on your fingertips with nail clippers. Don’t ask. If it goes wrong, trying to remove this tan is a full time job.

I’m going to finish the bottle, because it was expensive and I’d like to give it a better shot. But I don’t think I’ll buy this again. It’s nice, when it goes right, but It’s more high effort than a regular self tan, which is kind of the opposite of what a gradual tan should be.

I’d avoid unless you have a body-care routine that a marble statue would envy. The influencers really got me with this one.

Gross. If you’re looking for a self tanner than this product is for you. If you have pale skin this product in NOT for you. I’m naturally tanned and bought as a “tan extender” because I’m starting to do some indoor tanning.

This lotion straight up turned my hands and body a horrible oompa loopma streaky orange. WASH YOUR HANDS 10X AFTER APPLICATION. I washed and they still stained!I thought the smell was horrible too. Wasn’t for me, might be everything someone else is looking for.

IM SO OBSESSED I FOUND THIS AMAZING PRODUCT! It literally keeps my tan on soooo much longer and smells absolutely incredible!!!!! I use the same brand this brand of the mousse and oil self tanner and this i use in between applications and seen a huge difference of how much longer it lasts and stays on even longer!!!! Im so happy i love this so much!!!!!.

Great self tan, good size bottle, good packaging. Smells really nice too, doesn’t take long to dry not messy to put on. Just make sure you wash your hands after applying. No complaints here, would recommend, fast delivery.

I have very fair skin that doesn’t tan easily; my skin just burns and becomes red in the sun, so I thought this would be the perfect solution. It takes a couple of applications (usually a few days, I apply once a day) to start noticing any color.

It’s not full coverage or heavy so it looks more natural, but it can be streaky and patchy, especially on the back of your legs, knees, and top of your feet. The biggest problem with this lotion is that it colors other surfaces orange.

It stains bed sheets, light colored clothing, towels, and natural nails (nails with no polish on them). It does seem to wash out after a couple of washes, but I wish it was completely transfer-free. I also don’t care for the fragrance, and it can feel greasy.

It’s suppose to smell like coconut oil but personally, I smell buttered popcorn! Overall, this lotion is just okay if you want to color your legs quickly, but it’s not the best product and I don’t think I will be purchasing it again next summer due to all of these negative factors.

So for anyone who might be reading this, it is going to be a little extensive. I have a story to tell before my actual review. So…. a few weeks back I saw Shawn presenting Bondi Sands Self Tanner – it was a set of 2 with the mitt and I thought that it was interesting that a company from Australia, who I had never heard of before, had developed this self-tanner because they know tanning! Fast forward a few weeks past that and I am out shopping with my Mom.

We stop at one of my fav drugstores that starts with an R, (store with a door) as the QVC hosts always say, and I noticed this exact Bondi Sands name, the Gradual Tanning Milk and I remembered the name from when Shawn was presenting the self-tanner, so I bought this.

It was the same price as QVC but my bottle is 13. 2 ounces, so a tiny bit bigger. Now to my review…. whew!! I hate self-tanners. I have tried SO many of them and find them a pain, as well as the whole process of it all…am I right ladies? I live in sunny Southern CA but sometimes need a little color before spring/summer really hits hot.

So here it is, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this gradual tanning milk lotion!!! It is the BEST self- tanning product I personally have ever tried!! It goes on so easily just like a regular body lotion and smells great until about an hour or 2, and then that same awful “smell” comes through, just not AS strong so I do not mind as much.

My hubby said last night that he could not smell it on me. I usually use this around 6pm and by the time I go to bed around 11pm I already see a tan forming! It is NOT orangey, streaky, sticky nor has it gotten on my sheets or clothes!! This is a win-win and I can see why it is on waitlist now.

So I have used it twice and sat outside on my large patio the next day, to start getting even more color and I am overjoyed! Cannot say enough about this fabulous product!.

Exactly what I hoped for. I am a Bondi Sands convert. Every other brand seems to have a really strong fragrance that lingers on my sheets etc. and gives me a headache. This has a very subtle (but delicious) cocoa butter scent.

I can only smell it if I put my nose right up to it (and it smells like actual cocoa butter, not a synthetic fragrance). It goes on really smooth and buttery, isn’t sticky or tacky, and leaves my skin soft.

P. S. Something people don’t seem to understand about “self-tanner smell”. any smell that develops AFTER the product has been on your skin for a while is YOUR skin interacting with the DHA, and it’s different for everyone.

With my skin it’s a sourdough-ish smell. For some people (ahem other review) it’s gym socks. That is unfortunate for you but don’t blame it on the product!.

i tan really easily in the summer but have become obsessive about spf these past few years because of skin cancer/aging concerns. the downside of that is i look like a ghost in the summer time. i exfoliated well, used a different moisturizer on my knees/hands/elbows, waited for that to soak in, and then applied the gradual tanner and woke up the next day with a healthy glow and honestly, no real noticeable streaks (i wasn’t perfect with my application either).

there’s a noticeable smell but it’s not too pungent IMO – kinda smells like the milk after you eat cocoa puffs lol, so not as offensive as the jergen’s natural glow. if your goal is to have a dark tan/noticeable color, go with an express self tanner.

if your goal is to get a slightly sunkissed glow, go with this stuff! i’m quite satisfied!.

I’ve tried many self-Tanners. And it’s hard to find that “Right Fit” of scent, look and last ability. I saw so many great reviews for this! And I was excited to try it! For me though, I’m not a fan of the scent.

( for reference, I like Tanwise for their scent better as well as look, Banana Boat USED to be my go-too before they made it white instead of the natural looking tan) so! After trying this though, the scent is way too much.

To me, it’s a burnt citrusy smell. If that doesn’t bother you, then, you might like it! As far as the color goes, it’s a lighter tan, how’s on smoothly. But for me, I can’t get past that initial burnt Orange peel scent.

( I’m more of a Vanilla/ Cocoa Butter girl) But if yiu like citrus! I’m sure you’ll enjoy this!.

I like this self tanning lotion and have purchased it twice. It has a nice color when applying so that you have instant bronze colir and can see any streaks or areas you need to blend better. I don’t like the smell of the lotion but the smell doesn’t last.

I didn’t use it my face since I have face drops. The lotion isn’t sticky or tacky and it didn’t transfer on anything.

I never write reviews but this product was so worth it! I’m EXTREMELY pale, I’m convinced I have no melonin in my skin at all, I cant tan in the sun or beds. This product was a miracle for an upcoming wedding.

Not orange, not streaky. Some spots may be a little brassy at first but washes off in the shower leaving a nice golden hue. First I exfoliated and shaved, waited an hour for my pores to close and then applied the lotion as directed in circular motions with the gloves on.

My skin is on the dryer side, and I have “strawberry dots” on my upper legs so I was worried this wouldnt work like many other products but it DID! I’m so happy. The smell at first is strong but over night it goes away! I only did my first coat in the PM as recommended and I still love the color already.

I will be applying my second coat tonight. Definitely make sure to apply lotion on your feet, that’s the only place it came out a little weird but its fixable. Product is a little oily at first but your skin soaks it up.

10/10 I would recommend to anyone who has trouble tanning and is really pale and afraid to use self tanners.
