20 Best Lotion For Bumpy Skin (2023 Updated)

This product was EXTREMELY disappointing. I typically LOVE Gold Bond products. I was excited to have a lotion that I didn’t have to pump or squeeze out of a container. Unfortunately this lotion was horrible.

If you don’t rub it into your skin enough it leaves a sticky residue similarly to half-dried glue on your skin. If you do rub it in there is still an odd, somewhat dry texture to your skin. It also has an interesting smell to it.

I will certainly not be purchasing this again. If I could I return it!.

KERATOSIS PILARIS. Yeah. Kp is one of my biggest insecurities honestly. I hate that my arms are red more than the actual bumps. I use a lot of kind to treat and it is effective or not or pricy. Today I want to share AmLaction lotion product because of the more affordable price.

($13) and easy to buy at Walmarl, Target, Walgreen. First, I was verry nervous to buy this because there were so many people complaining about the smell. Lol. Yep. I thought it would be unbearable, but dont worry it is slight and goes away after few minutes.

Apply 2 times daily and within 3 days. I have felt my skin is softer and smoother, and by the third areas affected with KP started to see improvement. Of couse I will combine with other exfloliate scrub.

But beleived me. It is a great product, plz dont be intimidated to try it! And BIG NOITCED -Always use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterward.

Paula’s Choice 10% AHA is a game changer if you have Keratosis Pilaris! I had no clue that a lotion could be the answer to taking those annoying, tiny red bumps away. I don’t always get/have them, they disappeared for years and suddenly came back.

I dove right in on the research and this lotion was mentioned a lot. Having to get it shipped from the States and pay for it in American dollars stopped me from buying it for awhile, but I did not regret it! With continuous use, it takes my bumps away within days, you only need a little bit as it spreads very well.

I have had my current bottle for 6 months +. Now, I only use it on the parts of my skin that have KP, but still worth the money. If you have chicken skin and want something that works, Paula’s Choice is for you!.

Used it throughout 2021, a big tube that lasts well. Definitely saw and felt significant improvement in skin smoothness- both on tricky areas (elbows, knees) but also everywhere else. Am a bit addicted.

Love the strength of this product- unless you hit shaved or irritated skin (ouch!). First day of sunshine I slathered my usual SPF30 thickly everywhere and got on with my day. OMG, worst sunburn of my life! Still blotchy and peeling weeks later (legs, arms).

Clearly my new baby soft skin needs to be right out of the sun and under a thick layer of SPF50+. Be more careful than you usually are- like 4 times more!.

I mostly deal with some bumps uneven texture on my arms, and whenever I use this I notice a huge difference in my skins texture and appearance. I apply this at night, and since my skin is on the dry side I let this soak in for a couple minutes, and then top with a thicker moisturizer, and when I wake up the next morning my arms feel so smooth 🙌🏻✨ A couple things to note-There is a slight scent to this product when it’s first applied, but once it’s dried and soaked into the skin it’s unnoticeable! You’ll also want to use this on non-shave days.

Your skin is more easily irritated after hair removal and using this on freshly shaven legs may cause a stinging sensation. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that struggles with KP or just bumpiness uneven texture on their body.

Use it consistently to see the best results 🙌🏻.

Due to the design of the opening when squeezed usually too much is released. An improved design of the opening that would better control the flow of the oil would be very convenient. Which is the reason for only 4 stars.

Pretty disappointed. Cerave reaaally needs to specify which products are for face and which are for body. There’s zero indication on the bottle that says it’s for your body – it uses the same wording as most of cerave’s other products.

So you can’t tell when you buy the product in the store. I’ve been putting this on my face and wondering why my skin has been exponentially more oily even when only using a tiny bit. I saw the product in the store thinking it was for people like me and was like “yes! Something for textured faces!” But that’s not the case and I’ve only found out once coming to the website.

Please change your packaging to note which products go where. I strongly don’t recommend putting this product on your face unless you want your skin to be an ocean of oil. It doesn’t absorb into the skin well, and I’ve used who knows how many blotting sheets and paper towels trying to dry my face off from oils.

I probably look like I’m constantly sweating to all the people I work with haha. So I’m giving this a solid one star for how bad it is on the face. BUT my arms are super rough and have lots of little bumps, so I’m going to try using it on my body like it’s intended and see what happens.

I’m much more optimistic about how that will turn out since I’ve now heard that it’s really good for that. Then I’ll write another review for that experience.

I really liked this lotion but there were some catches for me. This lotion started to irritate my skin a lot and purge a little too harshly. It could be the way my skin is but I do get a little irritated from this.

I wouldn’t say it’s unbearable though. It’s tricky how I feel because initially I feel hydrated and I know I’m getting exfoliating benefits but if I use it everyday it dries my skin way too much so i’d have to alternate with a different moisturizer which means another moisturizer to buy and have on hand.

I feel they could’ve done better with this one, however, there’s no way it’s the worst out there or even close to being bad. Still has a nice texture, good ingredients, and ceramides. I would say it’s best suited for oily skin.

I like that it’s non comedogenic so you probably can use this on your face too!.

This lotion and face wash gave me my confidence back. I’m in my 30s with dry, sensitive skin, as well as KP on top of it. For the past few years my skin has been getting worse and worse. (I moved around and changed climates a lot).

I ended up spending tons of money on different foundations and primers thinking that eventually one would look decent on my face, but my face always ended up looking textured and patchy. I tried Curology and that barely seemed to help and I haven’t been impressed with Ceraves other products in the past, but I ended up trying this on a whim after reading how SA helps KA and not only has it helped clear up my KA, it has helped with my acne scars and bumpy face texture.

I wish I had known about this sooner. I recommend for those out there with dry skin to also purchase some Vaseline or thick face cream and apply it a few times a week. At least, that was my regimen and I’m quite happy with it.

Pic is of my bump-free arm which is now smooth as a baby’s butt. This cream is my go-to body exfoliator. Throw out those harsh, physical scrubs guys because this is honestly all you need. Simple and straightforward ingredients, fragrance free, noncomedogenic.

I currently only need to use this on rough patches (knees, elbows, feet) or the occasional (fortnightly) exfoliation of my legs and arms or butt/back. SA is also great for acne and breaking up oil and dead skin cells clogging the skin, so it’s beneficial for those battling body breakouts.

I do not use this as a moisturiser, for that I prefer the Cerave Moisturising Cream. It is primarily an exfoliant, and BHAs aren’t necessary for everyday use on normal skin. For most skin types, when accompanied by a gentle, hydration-focused routine, you’ll have baby soft skin in no time.

I applied this to my sister’s Keratosis Polaris (chicken skin) on her arms an hour after showering at night (it is best used on skin that’s had time to dry properly) and once more in the morning every day.

This treatment has smoothed out her skin too and had a great effect on her mental health because of it. Be cautioned it does contain Salicylic Acid which is a BHA or chemical exfoliant, and therefore it is important to stay sun safe and use sunscreen every day when using this product.

Which we should all be doing anyway, so no skin off my back there (haha, get it?. I’ll let myself out).

i have keratosis pilaris pretty extensively, and as such my main priority for body products is reducing and smoothing my skin bumps. and after a long time trying many other products such as Amlactin etc, i have been using Cerave SA Cream solely for a couple of years and have no desire to try anything else.

i use it all over my body immediately after showering. it is a really solid, fatty cream that doesn’t just disappear immediately like lotions. there are areas of my body that are lesser affected by KP, or i should say, they were, but the cream made those lesser bumps completely disappear.

in the more heavily affected areas with larger bumps, it can’t completely remove them, but it smooths them and prevents the bumps from getting red and irritated. at one point recently the SA Cream was out of stock for a long time and i had to switch to the Cerave SA Lotion, which you’d think would be similar enough, but within days, my bumps were returning in some areas and my skin was itchy and irritated from where they grew.

i was really afraid that they had discontinued the cream and even emailed their customer service to ask them to bring it back! the SA Cream is the only thing for me, i have used countless tubs of it, and i will never stop using it.

plus also i never have to fear dry skin.

Time to review this one. I have been using this cream on my arms,legs and most of the body for more than two weeks now. I like how thick it is, it does a great job moisturising my dry skin. The cream coats the skin,leaving a non sticky but smooth layer,which helps to moisturise and exfoliate the skin for 24h, so 10points for moisturising! It did a very good job with keratosis pilaris on my arms,all the bumps are gone, it also removed the tiny red dots from my bum :).

As you can see in the video, my legs need some more treatment, I am not sure if it can completely heal strawberry legs. The scent is almost nonexistent, a little medical, but you don’t smell like farmacy after using this.

Actually I am very happy that I tried this one, and no doubt will continue buying it, it just really does a great job softening and moisturising my skin, even if it can’t completely heal the strawberry legs(they are completely soft but you can still see the tiny red dots).

Amazing body lotion. My skin is so soft and it’s getting back a healthy glow. It’s not too thick and not too thin like a mid weight cream. It spreads easy and absorbs quickly without a sticky residue.

The best part is it exfoliates without AHA’s so it doesn’t leave skin sensitive and vulnerable to sunlight. The best way to use any cream with urea is to apply it to slightly damp skin right out of the shower when your pores are already open.

You’ll avoid stickiness and residue while maximizing the exfoliating and moisture properties urea has to offer. I recommend this to everyone who’s looking to achieve healthy glowing skin!.

I had patches of bumpy skin and ingrown hair on my arms and legs, so I bought this after seeing Dr. Dray recommend it. I’ve been using it daily for a month and have seen significant improvement in the appearance of my skin.

Not only does this formula offer gentle exfoliation without irritation, it also does a great job of keeping my skin moisturized. It comes out in a creamy consistency and isn’t so thick that it becomes difficult to apply.

The only thing is that some part of the cream becomes solidified (?) so sometimes there are solid chunks of it mixed in when you pump it out. Also, if you rub your skin after applying this, it may pill (tiny white particles), so it’s best to apply it at night.

I agree with other reviewers that this lotion has an unpleasant, tacky texture. Additionally, after a few hours the lotion starts pilling which is awkward and weird and sort of makes me feel like i need to take a shower right away to wash all the tiny globs of lotion off.

However, on the bright side it has no unpleasant odor and does seem to be doing a decent job of helping exfoliate the stubborn Keratosis Pilaris off my skin. If i can get past the issue of the gross way it feels I may continue to use this lotion.

I probably will try other products to see if I can find one with a better texture though.

I use this product on my face, upper arms, shoulders and upper chest. I’m in my mid thirties and have suffered from hormonal and cystic acne for 20+ years, this product has cut my breakouts by 95%. I still get the very occasional pimple but they are smaller and less noticeable.

My pores are visibly smaller, less blackheads and almost no whiteheads. I started using it on my upper body because it makes my skin feel so soft and amazing! Just came to purchase another bottle to make sure I don’t run out.

I have been using this for about 1 month so far and I like it. My skin is dry and acne-prone. For me, this lotion does not seem to prevent acne but it does seem to help get rid of new spots quicker than the regular CeraVe lotion.

The first week or so that I used it, it did sting a bit after application as my skin was not used to the salicylic acid. So if you have sensitive skin I highly recommend patch testing this product.

I’ve only been using the product for 2 evenings but it does seem to help to reduce the appearance of dry, flaky skin. I find it non-irritating. I don’t tend to like the feeling of lotion, and the transfer of it to other objects, so I only use it at night.

I did wake up today with 3 peculiar prominent small light brown patches that were not there before – on my left hand, right arm and right side of my torso. It’s now evening & the tiny one on the fleshy part under my thumb has faded.

It would be interesting to know why this happened. I’ll continue to use the product & recommend it unless more brown patches show up, or if the ones that have cropped up don’t subside.

I have had those dry little bumps on the back if my arms for YEARS!! I tried all different ways to smooth them out. Drinking enough water helped but they never totally disappeared until now! This stuff is amazing! You don’t need a lot of product which is great.

Since it contains alpha hydroxy I highly recommend using a sunscreen if your going sleeveless to prevent burning. Don’t wait years like I did. Buy this now!.

I’ve tried all of the amlactin lotions, and this one is my favorite, although I found that they all work. This one seems to work the best and is the thickest, so I like to wear it at night. It is very moisturizing and while it does have a slight smell to it that is very distinct, it works well to keep the skin bumps at bay.

The smell never bothered me much, it was just a little odd.

This is the best version of Amlactin I have tried. The regular kind smells really bad, the ultra smoothing doesn’t smell great but it is a much more neutral smell. I like to use it on my upper arms and it seems to help smooth it a little.

Where it noticed the most difference is using it on my feet! It makes them so soft!.

This product will definitely exfoliate dry skin, just don’t use it daily, as it is strong & will do the job fast & with conservative usage. I use it all over my body, focusing on arms, hands, legs and feet.

I’d recommend using it only once or twice a week to start in order to gauge how it works for you. I have fairly dry, flakey skin that isn’t helped any by the dry air in Alberta! I have found this product quickly takes the flakes away much faster & more effectively than Paula’s Choice 10% AHA body lotion, which I had been using daily.

I’m going to stick with this Glytone Exfoliating lotion from now on. This product is even amazing at exfoliating thick flaking heels, although you may not notice it until you shower – if you gently use fingernails & pads of fingers, or a foot file, you’ll see a bunch of old thick skin come away to quickly reveal a much improved skin texture.

My hands and wrists are often extra dry & flakey due to cleaning and frequent hand washing. When I first bought this product, I used it nightly for a few days & ended up with redness and a bit of almost rawness at one wrist.

I don’t blame the product however, as I was using it just as I had with the other lower AHA percentage lotion (nightly). Once or twice a week will do – again because it is very effective & faster working.

I highly recommend this product to anyone with flakey skin. Just go slow with it. I have no problems with it when I use it once or twice a week instead of nightly.

I have normal skin with no issues although a little dry. I Love the glytone exfoliating body lotion! The texture is creamy and stays moist on your skin all day. No smell which is great. You can mix it with a a little scented essential oil.

I have seen a little improvement in my overall skin texture. To get the most out of the benefits of this lotion apply right after a shower and use full strength without anything added at least every other day.

It’s great on dry feet. Use every night and morning. Then put your socks on.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PRODUCT!! Definitely a holy grail in my skincare routine, and much better than the normal moisturizing lotion. The SA, (salicylic acid), completely transformed my skin. As an exfoliant, it’s gentle enough for everyday use and doesn’t irritate my skin at all.

My skin gets very dry, especially during the winter, with dry patches throughout my arms and back. This is the only product that’s helped clear them up completely! Also, I have really dry feet, and I put this on to soothe them up and always does the job.

It’s completely unscented, which I love, and lighter than most creams. Also, you’ll feel it actually absorbed into your skin, and not just sitting on top of it. Even during the summer, when I’m sweating I don’t feel slippery.

This cream will also help even out your skin, and make it all supple. I use it daily, day and night, right after I get out of the shower. During the night, I mix it with my favorite body oils for even extra hydration.

This normally only lasts me for about a month to two months. For the price, I find this completely worth it. I’ve repurchased this several times and will continue to do so.

I picked up this product along with Cereve Resurfacing Retinol Serum at ulta. I actually got it for a friend with thinning skin that’s prone to scabbing. After two days of using this on my face even my hands began to heal, from painful splitting due to dry skin.

My face has had open wounds, they began at the end of my lips. They hadn’t healed completely in almost a year. This was after applying triple antibiotic cream all day! I really can’t tell what it’s done to my normal skin tissue but it’s cleared up my splitting, cracking painful skin issues.

Even with blood transfusions nothing helped completely heal my lips or fingertips. I was sleeping in medicated Band-Aids and nothing. For the first time in almost a year I can touch my lips without it hurting.

I do realize that if I discontinue usage my skin will probably start splitting again but I’m not spending hundreds of dollars either. I would recommend this to everyone, but if you have skin issues you have nothing to lose at least trying this product.

I wish I could of said I liked this cream, but I do believe it may have been making my skin break out more. I’ve struggled with acne since the age of 15. I’m now almost 30 and in the past two years despite the pandemic, my acne has cleared up minus the few hormonal bumps here and there.

I’ve been using Cerave products for about a year now, I really do love the foaming face cleanser and right now I’m currently trying the acne cleanser. I got this cream because I’ve had rough feeling bumpy skin, the cream itself is very thick and oily feeling so I would suggest only using a pea size or (2) amount, otherwise this will feel caked on your face all day.

While using this product I did tend to break out a little more than usual these days so I’ve decided to stop using it and returned it. If you have acne prone skin, and you tend to feel more oily- I wouldn’t recommend this cream.

Currently I’m using the Cerave resurfacing retinol serum and my face is feeling great, hardly any bumps and rough skin.

Reading about this product, my first impression was that it claims to deliver an awful lot more than your average body lotion. I don’t suffer from Keratosis Pilaris so can’t comment on that, however it has had a remarkable effect on ingrown hairs under my arms and on my bikini line.

It hasn’t eradicated them completely, but the difference is noticeable. My skin feels softer too. As instructed, I applied the cream daily. It’s lightly fragranced, not too thick, absorbs fairly quickly and didn’t irritate my sensitive skin.

Though not an issue during the winter months, I noticed that sun exposure should be limited after use. It’s quite a pricey product, but it does come in a generous sized tube which should last a while.

I’ve been using this for nearly 6 months now and I definitely noticed a difference in my skin. I don’t have many problems, to begin with but on my legs especially I suffered from these little bumps that don’t go away and I also had so many of these little coily hairs stuck under my skin that I often had to pluck out with tweezers.

Now I no longer have any bumps or ingrown hairs and I don’t even use this product religiously or anything, maybe once a week or so (I’m still on my first 200 ml tube!). What I like about this product is that a little goes a long way (hence why I’m still using the same tube).

I only use it on my arms and legs/thighs and it really doesn’t take much at all. I also love that it’s very hydrating and leaves the skin very soft and glowy. I give it 4 stars and not 5 for two reasons: first because I’m not in love with the smell.

For the most part, it smells nice but there’s a hint of something ammonia-y in there. It’s nothing so bad that it’ll make me stop using the lotion but it’s something I noticed. Second, because it’s a little pricy.

With my rate of consumption, it’s not a problem, however, if this were a product that I used on a daily basis I would certainly consider cheaper alternatives. Also a side note: I feel like this brand doesn’t do a good job at explaining the difference between their range of products.

It took me quite a long time to pick this one out because all the other lotions/creams seem to do the exact same thing. In short: great lotion, no longer suffering from bumps/ingrown hairs on legs, will repurchase.

I ordered the glycolic acid lotion and body scrub and have really noticed a difference in the skin on my arms. However, the thing that prompted me to write a review was the customer service that I experienced.

The pump on the lotion that I received did not work- not a huge issue, I could still unscrew the cap and use the lotion, but that ended up being sort of cumbersome and I found I was losing a lot of product to my own clumsiness.

I sent an email requesting a replacement pump and they immediately reached back out to apologizing for the inconvenience. Then, a couple of days later I received and ENTIRE NEW BOTTLE of the lotion! I can’t wait to see the results after an more extended period of time using the product.

And I’ll definitely be making future purchases from SLMD because of this over-and-above customer service response to my issue.

I thoroughly enjoy the lotion for my skin. Please my skin feeling moisturized and smooth. The only drawback and I’m glad it’s not just me but the pump doesn’t work. I’ve never gotten it to work once I bought it from Target and I couldn’t turn it to where the nozzle would pop up so I could pump.

And scene from these reviews. I’m not the only one with that issue. I’m sad that I can’t find this this lotion on Target’s website anymore, but I’m glad that you still sell it here. If you could put this maybe in a tube or improve the pump that would be great.

I think a tube would be a much better solution.

Generally I have good skin but my arms, hands and legs are dry yet I can’t take greasy lotions. Almost a year ago I got what I would call a rash of some kind on my arms and legs. Two dermatologists could not tell what it was.

After biopsying the dermatologist said it was a reaction to a medicine. So I tried everything three doctors told me to do. it did not go away. So I bought the SLMD Glycolic Acid Body Lotion. After a couple of days my skin was softer than it had ever been.

My hands looked younger than they have. My skin felt like I had spent days at a spa. The rash started becoming greatly lessened. Putting the lotion on my arms it felt like dead skin was coming off quickly (fast results) so I wiped it with a towel and applied more lotion.

I ran to Target to buy some more but they were out but I was able to get the facial cleanser. Now I’m ordering more lotion as well as two or three other new products. I LOVE every one of them! I am still using my original face acne kit too! I wish I had found you all years ago! xoxo.
