20 Best Longboard For Heavy Riders (2023 Updated)

I was looking for a beginner board and this one seemed to fit the bill. It’s decently springy and I can carve pretty well, but, like others have mentioned, after riding just a couple times the grip tape is already separating from the deck in a few places.

You’d really think that’d be addressed after the first five million people mentioned it. I can also see where some corners were cut on finishing the bottom of the deck, as the paint/stain lines are kinda rough and is actually missing in one small spot.

I’m probably the only one that’ll ever notice, but it’s hard to miss if you’re looking at it. The decks are nothing special but, again, good for a starter board. Overall it’s a solid board and I’d buy again, but be aware of those little manufacturing/quality things.

Got the tidal drop-down so I could ride with my son. Reviews seemed pretty good and the price was almost too good to be true. Honestly with as cheap as this board was I wasn’t sure what to expect, I’ve seen some pretty suspect boards in that price range.

Anyhow, got it Saturday and I’ve taken it on a few rides now, hit some pretty descent hills and a couple hard turns and I have been pleasantly surprised. The board handled very well, no speed wobbles and it held pretty tight on the turns, my strava app had me topping out at 21 mph downhill.

I had borrowed a buddies drop-down Land Yatch for a couple months and was cruising around on and honestly I felt like the tidal was pretty comparable if not slightly better, of course the land yatch had been broken in.

The quality if the deck is great, love the finish, I did clean up the grip tape a little bit. I also bought Reds Bearings but I’ve just been ridding on the original bearings for now, there ABEC9’s which I know doesn’t necessarily mean a whole lot, but the ride was pretty smooth.

We’ll see how the board holds up, but for now I am super happy with the purchase and that price is unbeatable for what I got =).

Great board at a great price, and arrived pretty quickly! My one complaint is that the shrink-wrap is around the board with the wheels/trucks installed through it. This means that to get the plastic completely off, I will have to take it apart and put it back together.

Might as well have come unassembled. The plastic is also to thick/tough to just tear off & leave whatever is sandwiched between. You really have to either disassemble or use a blade and hope the plastic that’s stuck in between doesn’t cause problems.

This longboard was my first ever longboard and is honestly is worth every dollar. I rode this thing for 2-3 years before upgrading just the wood deck. I still use the metal trucks on my newest board and they have never failed me.

I now ride a boosted board and always think back to this exact board. If you’re going to buy a board buy this one.

Very good stable board, great turning radius. Only one withdraw is; the wheels and bearings need up graded, they are on the slow side. None the less great board specially for a beginner!

Great board for the price. Bearings are quite fast and the ride is smooth and easy to maneuver. Only reason I did not give it a five-star is the grip tape is not secured 100%. There are a couple of corner edges that will not stick down and the workmanship of the grip tape cutting was a little bit poor.

I don’t think you can beat what you get for the price though.

This is the 3rd board I got from Backfire. I really like Backfire’s quality and their service. I normally ride the two electric boards with my kid together and had a lot of fun, but if I am in the mood for a non-electric one day, I would like to do some push.

The longboard is good , but i think that only the board itself worth some money. The rest is ok but i would suggest to change it immediately. After 15 min riding a rumbling noise from the bearings or trunks.

The bearings itself should be change because you cannot really cruise with the stock ones. Overall for that amount of money is a steal.

Purchased a couple of these longboards last year for my teenagers. Excellent quality, wood, and hardware. After a year, the boards are still going strong. Easy Pay is the Way!!!

I got my long board when I was living in Arizona and it was the best decision! I use it to go and from classes and sometimes when I want to go around campus. My friends have used my board as well and they loved it so much they bought one too! I would definitely buy it again if i had to.

Nice cruiser board. Lightweight, kinda wish it was 8-ply. Seems like it should be for such a wide board.

This is a very fun board! I love the stability and the Plow Kings will roll over anything. Ordering from Evo was great. I did it over the phone because I was having trouble entering a coupon online and the guy on the phone was really cool and made the order for me very easy.

Love it! Came within 4 days. This board is awesome. Makes long distance or just cruising very fun and easy. You really underestimate how 1 inch closer to the ground than normal boards makes such a big difference.

Also, dig the art a lot! i hope she makes more designs.

Super smooth ride. Virtually no protection to the nose and tail tho- so paint does go fast. Rides as advertised really no complaints there. A bit heavy for a daily board but great for city riding

In short, this is a great longboard and will likely exceed your expectations. For context, I have had this longboard for three months and I have very heavily used it and I will be replacing the trucks and wheels so I figured I would write a review on what you are getting.

The complete is perfect for beginners as it allows a platform for the beginner to explore different types of skating, as you can use its kicktails for freestyle and dance, its large space to comfortably cruise, and it can handle speeds reasonable weel at least 25mph as thats the fastest I have gone with it, though I am not sure of its limits.

The deck itself is the best part. Its very flexible and yet very durable as I have been really not nice to it, yet the deck still holds up with very minimal loss of performance. You will find that the spray on sugar grip wears more quickly than you expect, though it still retains decent grip for me.

Everything else, the trucks, wheels, and bearings are decent in performance and durability even after proper maintenance. For advanced riders I would recommend just ordering the deck and building the rest with components of your liking, however for beginners the complete will satisfy just fine.

If you’re getting the complete as a beginner I would recommend looking into nose guards especially if you are trying to learn freestyle tricks. Also look into some drop through shock pads as well as washers with rubber on the face to replace with the washers it comes with.

All of these I personally have on my board and it has significantly improved the life of the deck. As I said before for advanced riders, just get the deck as it is very very good and hard to find something like it anywhere else.

Overall it is a fantastic first board with tons of life.

I was really eager to get my hands on my new swallowtail board, only to be completely disappointed. The greatest problem I have with bearings. Default bearings are unusable completely. Forget about them.

The wheels can roll for 2-3 seconds at most, and I needed to lose them to get only about 5-6 seconds of rolling freely. No matter how much I lose them, I couldn’t get more of them. And they don’t have some middle point at all, either they wobble so dangerously getting up to 5-6 seconds of free-rolling, or they are too tightened so they don’t wobble but neither rolls.

A horror. I needed to replace the bearings with bones reds and the difference is amazing. Now I have over 60 seconds of rolling without a wobble or other weird noises from the wheels. But still not a great ride.

Curving is not good, and the board is not flexible from my point of view. But that’s my personal opinion, unlike the problem of the bearings. I understand a company can’t install some expensive bearings for the price of this longboard, but if you are selling a complete longboard, please put at least bearings that are able to roll.

On top of that, when I put the board on the plain ground, my top left and bottom right wheels don’t touch the ground but hang in the air instead. I bought a cheap Oxelo drop mini longboard for my kid 2 months ago, and even it is also a cheap board, it is several classes up compared to this longboard, and I have been constantly mocked by my kid for it.

I can only say I regret my purchase.

If you want a stable, comfortable easy to turn and ride downhill or street longboard, you get one with the Hana. Nice wheel sets, and the trucks just roll when you lean into them. The trucks hit a magic spot deep into a turn that actually rebounds you if you want it to.

The area is soft and nice like a sweet spot. Bamboo has to be the ultimate board, because it feels so good and looks even better. Master longboard with no wheel to board grinding due to board cutouts at the wheel area.

This is way good and I found some nice short rolling hills in my neighborhood. You lower body will thank you for taking up a sport that will do away with the pain of sitting in retirement, I’m 69. Wear pads, even if you don’t think you should, I bruised or cracked a rib, going down on a footfault, and elbow and hand guards would have let me catch myself.

Only a bruise, I did my first downhill today, and it was great fun. Ya whoa!.

Bought 2, one for each grandson. They love them. Great price, solid boards. They arrived before the scheduled date. Win win.

The skateboard rides super smooth and my kid loves it ! This skateboard has yet to have anything break with my kid riding it for hours everyday !

First experience with a longboard, but it seems like it is high quality and meets my expectations. Several websites listed this as one of the best boards, for the value. The finish is good, length is true, bearings glide nicely, and the tape is good to go.

My daughter is so happy about the board. Easy to ride and yet can amazingly fast. Couldn’t have purchased a better long board!

Very convenient for my son and he loved it. He’s been riding it almost everyday. I would recommend this for anyone who’s looking to begin skating. With the durable wheels my son can perform amazing tricks and he’s very good at it.

We bought our 11 year old daughter this long board after our older daughter got her into longboarding. Our older daughter spent $150 for her board, but our youngest didn’t want to deplete quite as much of her savings for one.

After checking around, she chose this one. We ordered it on-line so it came as a surprise to see how wide it is. I suppose we should have looked at the specs. For someone who wants an extra wide long board, this is perfect.

With that said, the quality is quite good for the price. The ride is smooth and sturdy. This is a good first long board for someone just getting into it and not sure if they’ll like it or not.

My son loves this board. For the price, it’s a solid entry level long board. No complaints regarding the quality of the board, trucks or wheels. Wheels were a bit over tightened but once loosened, ABEC 7’s were able to spin freely.

Would purchase again.

The board is very big it reaches his shoulders. My 12yo grandson loved it. He’s has used a regular skateboard at the skate park ramps. He’s not a beginner, I say about a medium skater. He asked for pads after he rode it, it’s fast, going down hill.

And I didn’t make any adjustments to it. It’s only been a week and it looks a little worn, scratches on wheels and the side of the board.

The longboard came a day before it was supposed to so the shipping was fast. Everything about the board is great except when I got it, one of the wheels barely moved. All we had to do was loosen it up a bit and now it’s fine.

Also, this board is kind of loud and makes a dragging sound when I ride it really fast. But for beginners and those who want to use it for cruising, this board would be a great choice!.

Great price, bought a package of ABEC 9s but not necessary, I skated with the Stock ABEC 7s and they are good. The board has great flex, nice length, I’m 70″ tall, its 44″ so its just over my stomach in length.

The wheels are my only concern because they wear down kind of easy but without much effort I managed to accidentally run over a pretty good sized rock and I did not wipe out. I totally recommend this board and anything else QUEST has to offer.

I’m a new ridder. And was looking up all kinds of details. like wheel size shape and of course boards. Its great! I am very happy. No complaints 1st day #) and you can’t beat the price! And arrived a lot sooner than expected.

I’ve had this board for about a year now and it’s still holding up just fine. it’s wheels are soft enough to ride somewhat smoothly, the bearings are also decent quality and spin well. Unfortunately, it can’t do the sharpest of turns, but if that doesn’t bother you or travel longer distances and don’t have to turn very often this is definitely a great board for you.

We have 2 of these boards in my family. Extremely smooth ride. Low road vibration, possibly from the soft wheels. Wheels also roll well. Low deck height and slight concave is very comfortable, especially for pushing.

I like the spray on grip for cruising and pushing. It’s less grippy than most grip tapes, but plenty adequate. I experimented with different wheels, bearings, and drop through risers, but couldn’t improve the board over the stock configuration, except for installing bushings appropriate for our weight (orange Orangatang Nipples, 130 lb).

So I weigh 210 pounds, I’m 6 feet tall and this board is a blast. It has a deep concave which I thought I wouldn’t like but it really locks you into place. The board does have a little amount of flex which is perfect so it isn’t super stiff but enough to go down curbs and little drops comfortably.

The clear “grip tape” or the recycled glass they use is really great. SUPER ROUGH and really won’t let your feet move around at all. I now prefer this over regular grip tape. Very comfortable ride experience and I can’t believe how far one push gets me.

If you are looking for a comfortable board from a nice eco-friendly company this one is great. Honestly, I would recommend this board to any of my friends.

Just got my tidal 41 complete and it is amazing. The trucks were a little tight right out of the box but after I loosened them up a bit, this board is sick. I have a certain road with a slight hill and a speed sign at the bottom that is pretty fun.

On my old board (Retrospec rift 41, which I totally love and shred daily), I have only been able to reach 18 mph on the sign, after practice on that particular hill (it’s not very steep at all, and you really gotta send it).

However with this board, I got 19 just cruising, not even trying. That doesn’t sound like much but the fastest I have ever seen any longboarder go thru that sign was 19 after several tries. This board weighs a solid 8ish lbs and is super sturdy but maneuverable.

I was going gentle with it today, since it was my first day on it and I haven’t quite broken it in yet, but this board is definitely quick. It’s great for downhill (I haven’t really tried to slide much on it yet, and my wheels still have that glossy shell, but my rift slides great despite those super grippy wheels), and great for carving/cruising.

The road is super smooth under those wheels and it takes bumps nicely. Not only does this board ride nice, it’s gorgeous! I would totally recommend buying this board.

I’ve been cruising on a typical longboard for most of my life, but have always been eyeing a Hamboard. I’m so glad I finally made the investment. This board is a pro at tight turns and is so much fun to ride.

I love goofing around on it seeing what fun tricks I can do (hanging ten, riding backward, walking the board, etc. ) My partner loves the board too. Sometimes I’m a nice girlfriend and I let him ride it for part of our shredding sessions.

The bottom line is if you’ve been thinking of getting this board in search for riding waves on pavement, just do it!.

How fun! Truly, the build, the trucks, the smoothness, maneuverability, and responsiveness exceeds any expectations. Purchased for my 15 yr old daughter, but the family quickly demanded their own time with the HHop! We’ve since added a FISH to the stable, as well as the street paddles.

I absolutely love the manufactured grippy deck surface which allows the classic vibe to show off its heritage. Too cool!.

Very well made and high quality board ! Worth the price and investment for a unique surfskate feeling. It is almost like an hybrid feeling of surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding. Very nice ! Kids like the large size of the board too ! Good way to pratice longboarding skill too ! Wheels ok but would like to have bigger.
