What the heck?.

First off, size. I’m 6’ tall, 165 lbs w/pant size 32-32. Medium bottoms fit perfect. Hope this helps everyone gauge the size charts. Second, I’m a remodel carpenter. I’m inside(never too hot wearing these) and outside(never really reasonably cold) wearing these.

If you are looking for an old school base layer that is affordable and really works, these are it.

Excellent! Purchased for my girlfriend’s son since he works outdoors in all kinds of weather. He says they are super comfortable and warm. Wish they had more colors, but that’s no factor. Just buy a couple of these!!.

I like the thickness and warmth of these but they have too much material at the top. Unless you are planning on wearing them pulled up to your armpits they are gonna bunch up or fold over your pants

I hate cold weather and these keep me warm. I do wish the material was a little heavier. But even as thin as they are, they still keep me warm. I bought the tops and the bottoms but with the heavy winter coat I have, I usually dont use the tops unless it gets in the 20s or below.

I recommend you buy them one size larger than normal. I dont like things that fit too tight.

The quality of the product is awesome. The material is soft and flexible. The fitting too is amazing. Happy with the purchase! Go for it 🙂

It’s not very warm in extremely cold climate say below 7-8 degrees.. additional layering is required.. however other wise very good product for normal to cold climate conditions

This is the worst product I have ever purchased. The store person has misguided me to buy this product for the purpose required

i will not say this about any other L L bean products that i own but i believe the manufacture of these thermal’s were defective or at least badly designed. to the point the waist band does not fit snug unlike other bean thermals I own [ or others in general ].

though they seem warm enough the product does not stay up on your legs without falling down ,again due to a weak and poorly designed waist band i returned them !.

My husband loves these! He’s cold all the time from chemo & radiation treatments from cancer. He beat it! Yay! I buy these every year. Good quality! Not itchy, just warm.

I don’t know if mine are from a bad lot, or if this is to be expected. The front part of these pants will not pull up to my waist without putting indue pressure on my crotch. I wind up feeling as if I have air in my rear and a feeling of uneven fit.

They are otherwise ok. I have written to customer service as well, and awaiting a reply. I’m fairly average in build, and have worn Bean thermal pants for over a decade. These are of a different material than in the past though.

More of a fabric, where the previous once were more like a tights material. They are warm and do the job. I don’t think a larger size would help my issue.

I purchased these for my husband who works outside. He has had many baselayers to place under jeans. I liked that these were lined with what felt to be a brushed fleece, and he commented that they were very warm.

However, after 1 day of use the elastic within the waist band started to twist and fold over on itself. It was very hard to get it to lay flat, and once we did, after normal quick use it re-twisted. It is uncomfortable secondary to this, and flattening takes a good amount of effort to have it just happen again.

Unfortunately, secondary to this I am returning both pairs that I purchased. Hopefully Land’s End can fix this product flaw. Otherwise, they are a great baselayer if you can contend with the twisted and bumpy elastic.

Ran into a very strange sizing issue. The ankles of the pants were very tight and not stretchy at all, which was strange given that there was relatively forgiving elastic at the waist. My husband has size 10.

5 feet, which is not altogether that large or unusual a size, yet he could not get the pants on because his feet could not slip past the ankles. As a result, he couldn’t even try them on, which was a shame given that the material did seem nice and the length would have probably fit well.

He did check the measurements carefully before selecting the size too, and while the circumference of the ankles weren’t included, and we wouldn’t have expected that to be there either, we also wouldn’t have expected that part of the garment to be that unforgivingly tight.

Once again, this is a case where given the unusual sizing, it would have been nice for that unusual measurement to be included or some other disclaimer, or for the return shipping to be free. Neither is the case.

Unless you have pretty small feet, this probably won’t fit.

This is my second pair purchase. This garment is light weight knit. It is very comfortable and breathable however I would take care when wearing or washing as it does snag easily, however it is still exceptional quality silk.

The ecru is like a pale yellow and the shale is a beautiful metallic like colored blue… very beautiful blue. I ordered these in men sizes bcz the women are sold out and it still works wonderful just down- sized for a fitted fit.

I would definitely recommend!.

My son was very pleased with this thermal top. Because he hasn’t had a chance to use it, uncertain if it is thermal enough for where he is stationed. It came before he was sent to new station so very pleased with shipping.

I was unable to order on my phone and was helped by friendly customer service. My daughter is in the military and recommended U. S. Patriot and I’m glad she did.

I’ve bought and returned nearly $200 in thermal underwear due to poor fit or just not warm enough. Wish the quality was a bit better, as the 1st pair the waistband had torn away from the legging straight out of the package.

Customer service sent a replacement with no hassles. These keep my legs warm when driving a forklift for 12hrs in a unheated warehouse where other brands like heatcore and rockface weren’t enough and cost more.

These long johns are superb for the winter cold. They are just snug enough to fit well, elastic enough to slide easily over the feet, and absolutely far better then any major brands I have had in many years.

And they don’t sag!! I have ordered another set in case global warming fails to happen again, like it did last winter. For this performance, they are well worth the price. JB.

I bought these for my Dad, & he loves them, & said they keep him warm. Polyester/Viscose is superior to Polyester/Cotton, as it allows any perspiration to evaporate. Where as Thermal Polyester/Cotton traps perspiration, making your skin cold & damp.

Fell apart first wash poor quality

Bought 2 pair for my husband, well pleased as he is getting full benefit in this cold weather.

Excellent fitting long underwear. They are literally underwear that is long. Simple as that. Because of the size confusion I bought a few in Medium and a few in Large. I typically wear a size Small in US sizes for underwear as I have a 30 inch waist.

The Medium was perfect. a tiny bit snug but I like that. The Large fit good but it was just a little too loose for me. They are great for lounging around the house!.

When I sleep I cant stand loose clothing, but it gets cold down here in Australia in WInter. I typically wear a size Large for underwear so the Xtra Large in these was perfect. They are great for lounging around and sleepwear.

I love the “sport thermal pants”. They fit great, material is really comfortable for a stretch fit in all areas. I live in northern New England, walk everyday through the winter, and need comfortable and functional clothing.

The one and only issue I have is that when I tried to get a second pair, they were not available in any of the three colors in my size; so I’m a bit disappointed. I get two or three e-mails from Jockey everyday with 30% off deals, and can’t get the item I want.

Sizing is spot on. Very comfortable. Fit snug and secure, while still allowing you to move with ease. Most importantly, they keep you warm without any sweating or odor. Just think of them as Men’s Pantyhose without the fuss.

I love them, got myself three more. Don’t judge.

It’s a really fantastic pair of thermals. They perform well compared to a traditional long John. Got them for a great price around the holidays. Would highly recommend you check out all jockey products.

They really deliver on quality and exceed in comfort wear.

I don’t think there was a label in these, but they feel like pure wool, the soft non-scratchy kind like lamb’s wool but probably not merino wool. The sizing runs pretty small relative to the typical US sizes; these size Large are more like US Medium at most.

Especially if they shrink upon washing, they could become more like size Small. But they are cozy. There was no specific washing instructions, but I plan to wash in cold water by hand, and air dry no heat.

This quality of wool long underwear at this price is a great value.

Very nice construction, and nicely warm for a medium weight [not itchy] wool underwear. Sizing is about 1/2 size too small. I got a XL and its that much too small. But i love wearing them; very comfortable and highly recommended–if you like wool!.

I purchased a similar product last year. It was Italian Wool and they were by far the finest base layer I’ve ever owned, till now. These seem to be a little heavier. I would not hesitate to order these.

They were new in the package as were the matching tops.

Garments as described. Very warm and the color is perfect. Note: runs a little larger than most thermal garments. My son is 16 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 172 pounds. XL normally fits him well with a tad bit of room for growth (yes, this kid is still growing).

these thermals, though very warm, they are thick and fit more like a sweat suit than an underlayer. If it was worn as a warm up suit it would be fine (sew the fly closed) but as under garments, it is a little bulky because it’s thicker than regular fleece lined thermals and it’s a little larger.

3XL tops are ample in size, fit is a 3XL; bottoms on the other hand have good fit in leg length & waist band but are very small in the “butt area” Need significant more room in the back. 4xl would have to big of waist band.

Warm, lightweight, high quality military fleece thermal undershirt at a very reasonable price. I wear this out walking in cold weather and it keeps you very warm. It is comfortable and very well made.

These seem to be well made , and fit nicely. I also have the shirt. They are very thin. They don’t keep you any where near as warm as the Nike Combat Hyper Warm products that I also have. I think they are very overpriced.

These make outstanding leggings. They are so comfortable, durable, and easy to wash. And they are great under jeans in the winter, or under any slacks. I have 3 pair.

Other than a very high waist, these are awesome. Very Light and warm. Not for extreme cold though.

Disappointing! These run extremely long in the rise and there’s not enough spandex for a body hugging fit. I bought an XS – the waistband sits just under my bustline but the length was spot on. I’m 4’11’ and under 100lbs.

Folding it over is not an option because it’s uncomfortable and the minimal spandex throughout the bottom makes it feel baggy. I expected these to fit like a legging and it makes me feel like I’m wearing granny long johns.

They’re not the warmest. I wore these under my jeans when the weather was in single digits and teens and my legs were still cold. If I could return these after having worn them, I would.

The Thermaskin products made from Sri Lanka this year, not just this Heat Under Pants, but also the Both the Thermaskin Turtleneck and also the Scoop Neck, they all have a much thinner and see through material compared to the same Thermaskin Crew Neck made in the Philippines, and they’re all actually from the same recent purchase and they arrived all at the same time.

The Thermaskin ones from Sri Lanka feel cold when you put them on also. They also feel more stretchy (which is not too bad on the pants but it is on the tops) so I am afraid that they’ll stretch even more after I wash them and wear them.

It’s definitely Not the same material. And they feel a bit larger than a medium size, not by much by enough they not as close to my skin and they bunch under my clothes. So I am returning them all, except for the crew neck.

The Underpants, also Thermaskin, fit fine and I like the waistband, but they’re too long. I’m 5’9″ and they’re dragging and cover half of my feet in length when standing up. I do not understand why all of these differences in all the Thermaskin products since they’re all advertised as Thermaskin with the same material composition.

Also, I am upset because I am missing the Cami one that I also ordered, all together at the same time. I’ve never had an item missing from LE.

Lands’ End has some pants in talls, so I know they know that not everyone is average or petite height – either in inseam or rise/torso. So I guess the bulk of their customers are average or petite so they just aren’t as interested in expanding business with tall customers.

(Even the curvy sizes don’t fit me properly, and regular sizes are a no-go due to waist being too large, so crotch droops, and then can still be tight in hips – are you listening, Lands’ End?) But in this, they offer petite but no tall? I can hem, but I can’t add fabric, so that’s really not logical.

I am only 5’9″ – the short end of tall. A 28″ inseam is not enough for me, let alone the taller ladies out there. That’s one. Second, they just aren’t shaped for people like me. The waistband is nice and thick, but proportionally, it’s just huge and either needs a drawstring or some other sizing options.

I tried a size L (knowingly ordered larger than my size to try to make up for length) and took up the waist and center back seam. A ton. I don’t need them super snug because I mostly wear lined pants in winter and these would either be for trousers/dressier pants or for lounging at home.

Then I tried the size M. I still took them up 4. 5″ in the waist. (Back center seam needs it but I didn’t bother making it even) Yet the width of the legs fits fine. They are still too short, but at least they are stretchy enough that they don’t pull down from the waist just because I bent my knees, and the waistband is stretchy enough that they can still be pulled down over my hips even after taking up the waist.

I’m 120 lbs, fairly thin, I guess, but still consider myself to have somewhat of a curvy shape, as I have broad shoulders, narrow torso/waist, and wider hips/carry weight in my thighs – and am longer in torso/rise and legs than “average”.

I’m 50 years old, I don’t want to get all my clothes at the Gap because that is the only place that ever fits. They are sort of like fabric you might find in a slip, so most pants would likely not “stick” to them.

I can’t have much on my torso in the way of layers due to dysautonomia, but also have Raynaud’s and need my legs warm – and live in a walking city, so don’t get around by car. And of course they are polyester, and usually synthetics are good at holding heat.

I got the lilac paisley or whatever it’s called – that seems most like flesh tone out of the options, which makes sense to me. If I wore light-colored or thinner pants, it would be the necessary alterations that would be more likely to show through, not the actual color of the layering pants.

It’s annoying to never find anything that fits properly, and having to patch things together to avoid paying more than the cost of the item for an alteration while still having lumps at the seams is also annoying.

But that’s the only way these worked out for me. I can wear them casually around the building or wear them under dark-colored, loose pants that are thin. Wish I’d had them for holiday dinners this season.

I don’t know how to answer would I recommend them, because it’s less about the product and more about the fit/function and the size/shape of my friend who needed a recommendation. Can’t generalize these things.

I have 4 wool power products now. I wanted to have something that would replace my Varusteleeka long merino underwear. I thought that this would fit the bill. I ordered small ( I am 31/32 waist. Stil very loose.

They also get quite loose very quickly so when putting on pants they ride up. Wish they has extra mall or were tighter. More like wearing boxers than briefs. So if you like it loose they are great.

This is the first pair of boxers I have ever purchased and I’m surprised how I quickly fell in love with them. The fit and comfort is spot on and the quality is noticeable well made. I will be taking these in the boreal forest with me for a month.

Great leggings- beats any other I’ve had here in the UK (you won’t find this kind of quality stitching & fabric from the likes of Montane or Rab- truly built for the cold. ) Fit is exactly as described- not too large or too small.

You can invert them to get some extra use out of them if they start to smell (which will be a necessity on trips lasting more than a week in the snow. ) Extremely comfortable with a mesh-like feeling against the skin that will ensure you don’t feel sweaty, but still feel warm.

The first day out in these I was a happy customer. After 3 days of use there is ALREADY a hole forming in the crotch area, and not on a seam. 3 days? Come on. I either got a dud pair, or this stuff is WAY OVERPRICED.

Disappointed is an understatement of underwear.

warm and comfortable. size is a bit of an issue as they are very long in the leg and a bit strange fit on your waist. Seem not quite as durable as my old woolpower long johns in pine green. Time will tell.

I used this as a base layer during skying and crosscountry skying and the great thing is that it is warm enough when staying still but also breathable enough when moving fast so you don’t swet. Amazing product.

Sleek and fit under slimmer fitting pants of any kind nicely with no bulking. Great for up to about -10c under regular jeans. I wouldn’t wear them in colder weather than that if you are going to stay outdoors for a lengthy period of time though.

Quick draw fly is awesome and I love how you don’t realize you have them on after awhile. None of that annoying adjustment and bulkiness that you get from most styles of long underwear. Highly recommend for layering just not colder weather than -15c or nasty windchill days unless you have snow pants to put on.

Lol. I would buy another pair in a heart beat though just because they fit so great.

I’m getting old and I need a light layer at night. These are perfect for me. Soft waistband (I’m a 34″ waist and the large are perfect). The ankles are tapered with an elastic bottom, which keeps the pant from riding up my leg.

Very soft, slightly stylish and perfect weight. I love and would highly recommend.

Great fitting products as usual from TJ. Just beware. they will start to deteriorate after 8-10 wears. I love TJ products but the material that makes them so comfortable does not hold up for extended use.

Some say not worth the money, but it depends on your budget. Great products, but may not be worth the price in the long game.

So, off the bat, when they say long underwear they mean *underwear*, not leggings!! This is the same fabric at the same thickness as the underwear, so it’s fairly thin and see-through. I wasn’t entirely sure if that was the case when I bought them but yup, it’s underwear fabric.

Good to wear with a dress or beneath pants, but not as pants themselves (especially in the cold). So far I’ve worn them to work under dress pants and at home under sweatpants and they add a nice extra layer of warmth.

Also pleased with the fit, am a 2x-3x in undies and did 3x for these and they fit perfectly except for being a little longer than I’d like as a 5’4 gal. Still, they’re under pants so not a huge deal if they bunch at my ankles a little.

I purchased several pairs of long underwear. These long underwear have become my wardrobe staple! I wear them around the house, wear them to sleep in, and I wear them as traditional long underwear under my clothes when I go out.

I am very sensitive to tight clothes and scratchy fabrics, and these undies do not bind and have a lovely smooth feel. Not to forget the adorable prints! I’ve become a meundies long undies hoarder! :D.

Dear LU, where have you been all my life? Especially when tunics over leggings were having their high school moment. Like everything at MU, these are wicked soft. I wear them mostly as leggings because they’re just THAT comfortable (and LA isn’t exactly snowy).

Unlike other leggings I’ve tried, they’re not contriscting, but at the same time the band stays in place so they don’t slip down. All around super comfy and versatile.
