I like to wear stripes, typically subdued stripes, and this tie works when I am wearing a solid suit. I have not been able to find this exact color. It is great!

While tracking the package, I noticed that it was stating that it weighed 10. 6 lbs. This was confusing because it was a 12lb shot out. Once it got here it read something different. The coach says that it does “feel” 12lbs.
So, in the future, I would recommend that a “true” weight assessment be made. But it turned out fine.

A very sweet bouquet of caramel, vanilla, and toffee. Nutmeg and oak flow throughout providing additional layering. Overall the aromas are bright and enjoyable and hard to dislike. Although the nose is overall mild in intensity, it still has a satisfying impact despite its 86 proof.
Its creamy mouthfeel nicely compliments the bourbon’s sweeter notes of honey and orange. Spice is layered throughout and seasoned oak provides a sturdy base. It’s well balanced and pleasant. A pop of heat followed by a mild dryness powers the finish.
Caramel and spice trail off giving way to a hint of smoke on the backend that is gratifying but fleeting. Nicely constructed and a fitting end to this bourbon.

I really can’t say enough about this bourbon. I’m far from an expert on good bourbon, but I know when it’s good and bad. I’ve had fair but cheap (Evan Williams), good (Elijah Craig), pretty good, but so smooth it didn’t seem like bourbon (Four Roses)and decent but not great (Old Forrester).
Longbranch is full-bodied and smooth, but you know you’re drinking bourbon. Unlike Evan Williams or Four Roses, it has a nice mouth feel and you know you’re drinking bourbon. It also has a burn at the end, but unlike Old Forrester, it isn’t harsh and almost like drinking ethanol.
It has a really good balance. It’s spicy and sweet but really very well balanced overall. While the price point is about $40, it’s worth it to splurge for a good bourbon. I’m sure there are better bourbons out there, and Evan Williams at 1/4 of the price is okay, but sometimes you want something that makes you feel like you’re drinking a high-end bourbon at a reasonable price.
This is it. I haven’t had Pappy, but I’ve had Weller. It was good, but I wasn’t super impressed. I’m very impressed with this regardless of the celebrity attached to it. Yes, McConaughey is the face of it, and if he brings you to it, great.
But I didn’t rate this based on that. I rated it based on taste. They did a great job and it’s worth a try. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Simply amazing. However, I will start with Cons: aroma/nose is not impressive; if you are looking for a classical Wild Turkey “bourbon kick” – it is not there. Pros: it is absolutely delicious – sweet like nothing else, almost too sweet.
Charcoal (mesquite?) is, theoretically, smoothing the taste. It is not always true, but very true in this case. Smoothest bourbon I ever tasted. I cannot think of a better bourbon if you want to introduce your non-bourbon friend (or any lady :-)) to the world of bourbon.
I am a Wild Turkey fan, drinking 101 as my daily bourbon for sipping and mixing. The Longbranch version of WT mash bill is equally tasty but smoother and less jarring since the proof is only 86. I get vanilla and maple syrup on the nose and quite a bit of spice, I call it cinnamon, on the pallet.
If you like WT products, I think you’ll like Longbranch for its flavors and sipability. If you want WT with a kick, you may find this dissapointing and want to stick with the 101 expression of the mash bill.

Jim Beam white label is a slightly better than bottom shelf whiskey. It’s true whiskey, none of that “natural flavors” garbage on their label, because it’s 100% bourbon whiskey. Just keep in mind that this is a mixing bourbon, not for drinking neat.
I cannot shoot this without a chaser, it makes me want to vomit. Having said all of this, Jim Beam white label doesn’t try to fool anyone into believing that it is more than what it is. If you can sip neat and truly enjoy, all the more power to you.
and to be honest, I’m somewhat jealous, lol. But as a mixer, this is unbelievable! The harshness makes it difficult for the sugars of other beverages to completely mask. When I have a whiskey and coke, I want to taste that whiskey, and you get a nice punch to your coke from this.
I prefer the black label to this for mixing, but you still can’t go wrong if you mix with this instead. My rating is based on mixability, price, and good times.
I bought it based off of the many reviews praising this liquid. Unfortunately it’s only barley worth the ~$20 I paid. My Benchmark for any double oak is Woodford’s Reserve and this is not even close to that fine nectar.
To be fair the second tasting, closely following the first was not as offensive as the initial shock of the first sips. On the nose, this bright and spikey with hints of methanol, perhaps spearmint if you have a good imagination.
On the pallet, the frontend it over charred oak and the afterburner is a heavy mix of of something almost unnatural. Pros: Inexpensive – AKA cheap No afterburn Cons: Too much alcohol taste No true notes of flavor.
I am hoping that a (5) FIVE STAR rating is Excellent / Best not the worst. LOL -☺☺ My sweet tooth “sippin” liquor of preference is a brand that can relate to royalty and has a green label and BAG. I had a sample of Jim Beam Honey Bourbon Whiskey from a friend of mine and OMG !!! I was amazed at the taste, the smooth warm flow on the pallet, the taste buds exploded, and I savored the flavor.
I had to go and get a bottle. Not a question about it. I now have that on my list as a favorite. In “MY” humble opinion, Jim Beam Honey Bourbon Whiskey is a “Home Run” to a baseball player, a “Hole-in-One” to a golfer, a “300 Game” to a bowler, a “No Hitter” to a pitcher, a “Royal Flush” to a poker player, a “Jackpot” to a slot machine player, and last but not least – an “ACE” serve to a tennis player.
I am very impressed. I love the smell of the sweetness. A long slow “sniff” with your eyes closed is so soothing to my inner soul. Then, a smooth pour in a “sippin” glass is such a reward and just a wonderful kicked back feeling, like a man out of debt.

I buy the Jim beam fire for my wife because she loves it & says it’s really smooth. We have had a difficult time locating it and have checked several liquor stores. They all say it’s on back order. Anyway, I was able to find two bottles at yet another liquor store.
I poured my wife a glass over ice which is how she likes it. She thought I gave her something else. She said it doesn’t even taste like Jim beam fire. Did you change your recipe?, if so, PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK!!!!! she said it’s awful !!!! It doesn’t taste the same!!!.

I really thought I’d enjoy this, the standard Double Oaked is one of my favorite bourbons, and easily the best for the price. I prefer it to the select. Possibly it’s the fact I had it immediately following a fish fry, and the lemon caused the unpleasant taste on my palette, I prefer my bourbon neat.
I’ll give it another go tomorrow. On the front was a vinegar (not burn) tang. It killed any other flavors. Nothing complex. I’ll take the pancakes and maple syrup from the standard Double Oaked. That being said, there is zero burn to this and if you give it a minute on the back end was one of the best Kentucky hugs I’ve had recently.
I’ll give it a shot when my palette is more ready, if I still taste the vinegar, I’ll try it with a cigar.
I love this bourbon – as expected. I had read blogs about it for months and decided to try it. Just don’t order it through Liqour Bar. The Bourbon was $38. That’s a fairly competetive price. But the shipping was as much as the bourbon.
I didn’t notice that until I had already clicked “Purchase”. I tried to cancel the order within one minute but they instantly wanted a 15% re-stocking fee. Apparently somone had sprinted to the shelf, pulled the product and started the shipping process within 45 seconds? C’mon.
So, HIGH marks for the bourbon and LOW marks for this company. The bottle was packed appropriately and arrived unharmed within a couple of weeks. But it’s WAY cheaper to just find it in your area and go pick up a bottle.
Nose: Apple, vanilla, brown sugar, feeling rich and sweet. Also a little rye with some hint of oak. With water, there’s more vanilla with caramel. Palate: A little harsh, not unbearable but somehow the sting on the tongue and palate feels too long.
Prominent oak at the same time. There’s a note of malty sweetness. With some drops of water, the aggression on the tongue is suppressed, feeling like pepper. The liquor tastes a lot sweeter. Finish: Dry, apple, no astringency.
Feeling clean. Comment: This bourbon has beautiful nose. It’s a nice orderly demonstration of everything it has to offer. With that impressive maroon color, it builds up high expectation before you taste.
Unfortunately, this turns out to be a simple bourbon without too much depth to overcome the harshness on the palate. Note, this is not to say it’s a bad drink. This is still a decent bourbon if it’s slightly watered down or with rock.
Then you get an easy plain sweet dram without any unpleasant feelings. However, such a character normally makes me associate with mixer. It also makes me wonder why bother such a specific proof number, and feel the product is a bit over priced compared to other very good bourbons in $2x range.

During the early part of the Coronavirus Pandemic it was difficult to find rubbing alcohol on store shelves. As a substitute I bought a low price bottle of bourbon and it happened to be Benchmark #8.
During Christmas I was running low on my regular choice of bourbon so I just gave the Benchmark a try. WOW!!! Don’t let brand name and price drive your taste buds! This is great bourbon! I have since served it to guests who are also bourbon/whiskey aficionados.
I don’t tell them what brand it is until after serving them a drink. In every case they too are impressed and really like the smoothness of Benchmark #8. If you haven’t tried this brand before do give it a chance.
I especially like it in mixed drinks and it is perfect for Eggnog. It is a bargain basement bourbon with a top shelf flavor. It is well worth your time!!!.

/George T. but it isn’t a Slouch! It needs to be tamed down a tad bit with a little bit of air or water. There are some vintage (BTAC) vibes faintly hiding deep in the back of the dram. There’s something special about this mash bill #1 pour, especially for the overall value.
It has some harsh rough edges because of it’s youthful age, but you wont find a Cask Strength Whiskey at this proof to price point.
I have had many Bourbons. More than I can count. The whiskey bourbon craze is overhyped. Why ? Any how majority are way overprice. Take Bullet real popular but not that good. Not real expensive but more than the cheaper brands.
The price keeps going up on everything. Benchmark can be crank on ice flash of water if you want. Benchmark can make a very good mixed drink. Whiskey styles made turtle their nose because the 1. 75 L is in a plastic bottle.
It does not matter ! Yellowstone whiskey……. popular because of the TV show. Every now and then go buy yourself a good whiskey. But always keep a bottle of Benchmark around for every day. Hope the price does not go up.

I really enjoy the OF 100. You get a nice punch of flavor for $25. I definitely get the cornbread, cinnamon, vanilla, and just a touch of dark chocolate. The finish is medium and slightly spicy. The obvious competitors are Wild Turkey 101, Evan Williams BIB, and Old Grand Dad 100.
The Old Forester 100 is not “better” or “worse” than those other offerings. It’s just different. I would say that the back end bite is a bit smoother than WT 101 and on par with OGD 100 & EV BIB. Would I buy it again? Absolutely.
Anything is subjective to specific tastes. film, desserts, and bourbon also gets added to the list. Old Forester 100 (OF100) has been a consistent top pick in my bourbon journey. The flavor profile is just right.
just the right amount of sweetness and spice for my palate and when you add in price and availability, it’s perfect. Palates differ and some people don’t like it but OF has been knocking it out of the park lately with this and their 1920 and it’s a definite ‘must try’ for anyone getting into bourbon.
You don’t need to buy the liter or 750 but instead try an airline bottle or a pint. even a pour at a bar. and pour it over some ice. If you don’t like it, you haven’t lost much.
Going by reviews from expert tasters I had high expectations. I really wanted to like it, but for me it didn’t work. I’m still a noob at bourbon so my palette might be missing something, but I never felt a distinct flavor come through.
As if the flavor was there, but bunched up at the gate unable to get to the starting line. The body seemed thin and the finish bitter and short. At the same time there wasn’t anything especially bad about it either.
It did have a nice clean and balanced taste overall.

Very happy about the Dirty bucks. I went with a 9D and the fit is spot on. Pleasantly surprised by the overall leather quality and construction. Definitely Alden level or better. I have only 2 minor disappointments.
The leather quality used for the lining seems to not be on par with the leather upper. I know that brands usually use cheaper leather for the lining, but it’s quite noticeable on this pair. The laces, and particularly the plastic tip, look cheap (it’s easy to change so not really an issue, but it would be great to have laces that match the overall feel of quality of the shoes).
Overall and especially considering the price, this is an amazing pair of shoes. The packaging feels very premium as well (although I’d prefer something slightly more eco-friendly).
I bought these on Final Sale without ever trying any pair of Grant Stone shoes before as I´m located outside the US. For half of the price I had to take my chances. Before purchasing, I contacted Wyatt to get a sizing proposal.
The response was very quick and nice too. So upon his recommendation I picked these in 7D. The length of the shoes are just perfect. My toes have enough room in the front. But unfortunately the upper part covering the instep is too tight.
Anyway, I consider myself having a regular width and instep. In UK size I usually wear 6,5UK which should be equivalent to 7,5US. In my case a 7E I assume would just be perfect. But beside all of that the quality and the make of the shoes are just great.
You never know, maybe Grant Stone will surprise me with a special offer ;). Waiting to hear from you guys!.

Asked the bartender at Lazy Dog what their most requested bourbons were the other night. There so many marginal products out there, I usually stick with Makers/46 or on a really good night Blanton’s.
That evening I tried a Tin Cup again (it was still ok) then tried Basil Hayden’s. Have to say, Basil Hayden’s was impressive. Basil Hayden’s is much closer to the quality and finish of a Blanton’s. Its much smoother than Makers or 46.
There is one issue; Basil Hayden’s isn’t easy to find. When you do, I’d suggest picking up an extra.
As a Sevierville resident, I recently purchased an admittedly excellent locally-made bourbon that set me back $60. 00. With gas prices rising daily and every commodity becoming unaffordable or unavailable, I’ve decided I must cut back to protect my budget.
“So long JD Single Barrel. Goodbye Makers’ 46”. I have reached the point where I must either change hobbies or conserve. Basil Hayden’s Bourbon is tasty, smooth, and affordable. I only hope that, by posting this review, I’ve not made it all disappear from Total Wine’s well-stocked shelves.
This is a good one for those that are either new to bourbon drinking or just want a nice flavor regardless of the proof/price ratio. Because it is lower proof, it’s not a “value” buy. but it definitely is nice tasting and smooth.
On the nose, it’s not very strong. Maybe a hint of sweetness and floral. But on the palate it is very noticeably caramel, and so very smooth. A smokey finish that lingers but wouldn’t call quite call it a long finish.
I bought this with the intent of comparing to Four Roses Small Batch because they’re similar priced and I drink a lot of the 4R. After having tasted it, though, it’s apples and oranges comparison. I like both.
I can see enjoying this one when not in the mood for a strong powerful bourbon. The lower proof, however, is a drawback.

I have mixed feelings on this. It’s a good whisky. Not top shelf quality but good. It has lots of oak in it (American white oak it seems), dry, not too sweet. But it also has what I perceive to be some artificial maple syrup and rum flavor.
I personally don’t mind the rum but the artificial maple flavor is too cloying for my tastes, kind of ruins it. The main note in this seems to be vanilla, not too strong, I feel it helps give it some good complexity.
Also almost some very subtle hazelnut note, in a good way. I don’t perceive this whisky to be old but it’s not too extremely young either. I’d guess maybe it was aged only 1 year, maybe 1. 5 years.
Well huh. I’m a bit let down. FIrst is the aroma. almost non-existent. Then the drink itself. drink it neat I find no flavor on my tongue until i swallow it. then the flaor hits the back of your tongue with a spicy cinnamon caramel kind of flavor with a spicy warm finish.
All of the flavor is captured on the back of your tongue and it leaves a warm tingle there for quite a while. Sitting on my tongue before downing it it almost seems like water. very bland and nothing, but it all hits as it goes down.
Kinda weird. all in all its kind of flavorless until you swallow it. For me it was a let down for sure. Not on my must have or buy again list.
The original. Still made in small batches to exacting standards. Knob was one of the first bourbons I had when I started taking whiskey seriously, and it’s still a kicker. No-nonsense, flint-hard nose: slickly-polished oak furniture, cinnamon stick, cracked rye, wet cornmeal, hard candies.
Bang! A lean whiskey that gets in your mouth and explodes with rye spice and cinnamon candy, a sharp wedge that opens you right up. The finish echoes: oak, a dying fire, clean and almost crisp. Emphatic, bright, and swift.
Value Pick(UB Collection,Finalist,Great Value,Tried & True Award)- The nose is distinctly floral and fruity with notes of red fruits and peaches. Powerfully spicy and woodsy in the mouth with hints of smoke, cigar box and tobacco leaf that lingers long on the palate.
– Smells of sweet corn, buttered popcorn and pistachio nuts in the early stages; later whiffs pick up well-endowed scents of sauteed butter, oaky vanilla, beeswax and linseed oil. Palate entry is full-bodied, sweet and honeyed; at midpalate the taste profile turns drier, more intensely grainy-mashy and breakfast cereal-like.
Finishes with notes of nougat, almonds, candy bar, and oak. Best Buy. – Paul (6/1/2005) – 90-95: Superb/Highly Recommended.
Just the last few years I’ve gotten into whiskey and bourbon even some scotch. More of a whiskey bourbon drinker tried several always trying different brand names and batches. Like knob Creek from the beginning and I always seem to come back to it.
The aroma and flavor is fantastic and smells like Maple and oak but does not have a sweet taste which I prefer. Being a hundred proof it has just a little bit more warming sensation going down in a great aftertaste.
Never use that as a mixer it’s too good of whiskey. This is a whiskey best enjoyed smelling and sipping not drink, mix, or do shots of. enjoy pouring a couple shots swirl and smell it for about 5 minutes before sipping.
Try to make it last at least 30 minutes. It’s a great nightcap!.
Bright, bold & spicy – I did a head-to-head of 5 or 6 whiskeys I considered cheap enough to use as cocktail mixers, and this came out on top. The only thing I have that comes close for the money is Rittenhouse Rye.
I give the KC9 the edge over the Rittenhouse, *and* if you buy the 1. 75L it’s cheaper per ounce. I particularly love KC9 in cocktails where the whiskey is the main attraction, like an Old Fashioned, Manhattan or Boulevardier (aka “Negroni with whiskey instead of gin”) — its bold spiciness and relatively high proof enhance those cocktails, vs.
many whiskeys in my runoff (ex. Bulleit, Elijah Craig SB, Buffalo Trace, Evan Williams BiB) that mostly disappear into the background. An aside: of those I just listed, the EW BiB is the only one I consider worthy of sipping neat.
That’s an even better value I always keep in stock. I just don’t use it for mixing, it’s more of a good “daily drinker” at a substantially lower price point than this KC9. Back to the Knob Creek 9yr: I get caramel apple, floral & nutty notes, plus black pepper & cinnamon that carry through to a long finish.
The bold, intense flavor holds up well to ice, or when I’m in the right mood I’ll nurse it neat for some spicy drama. My “price-blind” score for this would be ~4 stars (mostly because I’m rarely in the mood to drink it neat instead of in a cocktail), but it easily jumps up to 5 stars when I factor in the price.
Highly recommended. at some point I’ll try the higher priced Knob Creek offerings, but IMO you just can’t beat this @ the 1. 75L price.

I just bought a 75 dollar bottle of heavens door and it was trash compared to the 45 dollar knob creek. Honestly the 1 star reviews seem a bit harsh. I saw someone compare buffalo trace? Well sure buffalo is different, but you cant always find that.
this bottle of alcohol won an award in 2016 for international competition with spirit. So thats something.

I’m new to bourbon. About 1 year, and I have been very successful finding bourbons that I enjoy. I drink bourbon with water (not ready for neat). Larceny seemed like it was worth trying since it is significantly less expensive that what I have been buying.
Nose extremely sweet neat. More muted and smoother with water, but not as sweet or pleasant. Honey/toffee ? The taste really surprised me, I expected something special or at least good. Bitter, astringent, tart, acidic.
Very unpleasant aftertaste with a strong alcohol burn (mouth & throat). Basically I find it undrinkable, and will try to pass it on to a neighbor. The bourbons I have most enjoyed (so far) include: Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Whisky, 93 Proof Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
Four Roses Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Contradiction Bourbon, Smooth Ambler, 92 proof (if I’m liking the spicey/peppery finish).
It’s clear from the price you’re not looking for something to change your outlook. I personally don’t ascribe to price = better, as Eagle Rare is one of my favorites, but as it’s name denotes it can be hard to find.
I find Larceny to be a deep step down but, it’s not bad, it’s not a “cheap bourbon” it is still enjoyable and not a hangover enducing rail whiskey. It has a quality to it for the price. It’s my go to $25 bottle.
The One stars reviews all have a problem with people saying it’s a great find for the price, which means they immediately want to rate it poorly. For $25, give it a try for yourself, cause honestly, that’s who’s opinion matters.
I remember buying this maybe as recently as 2 years ago. I probably started buying it in 2015 or 2016. I bought it again a month ago after about 2 years and it tasted horrible. I’m not sure if they drastically altered the formula or if some sort of cleaning solvent wasn’t distilled out of the product.
I took a sip and poured the rest out. Not an issue of taste it just smelled and tasted like cleaning products smell. Not saying this out of bitterness against the brand (I miss the old taste) but mostly confusion.
