20 Best Long Range Bluetooth Receiver (2023 Updated)

First off, the range is as advertised. I attached the device to a pair of outs on my UAD Apollo 16 and streamed live performances of the band via Bluetooth over 100 from my studio to the front porch of the house.

Even though you can attach 2 devices of the same type at once, they will not be in sync with each other in the standard Bluetooth format. I dont know if thats the case with the more modern aptx low latency mode as I dont have any devices that new.

But this device can turn any audio source, analog or digital, in to Bluetooth and do so quite well. Im sure Ill buy another one or 2 of these as gifts. I highly recommend this device if you want Bluetooth at further than 30-ish feet or just want to add BT capability to an older tv or stereo.

Theres many possible uses as it can operate as a receiver or transmitter. And at $50 brand new, it wont break the bank.

Great working unit. As far as the range is concerned it is far better than regular Bluetooth, but as long as they’re objects in the path of the signa,l the range is reduced. As far as unobstructed straight line range superior.

I did add the larger antenna, improvement was marginal. They’re alot of creative ways to use this unit, but fro long range maybe Wi-Fi is better.

I was pleased that the distance I get on my earbuds will reach my entire property inside and out, from my basement, through walls even. The only problem is that it is not in perfect sync with the video.

there is a slight delay in the audio making it impossible to use for my live performance music show, which is why I purchased it. It can be distracting watching music or sports, things that you want to have video and audio in time with each other.

If you want it for good reception, as I said at the start, it is awesome. I also like that it is both a transmitter and a receiver.

Much smaller than it looks in the picture, but the design is awesome; small and sleek. The screen displays info that you definitely would want to know if you care. Playing Tidal and their hi-fi and hi-fi plus items sound amazing!! Definitely sounds like a CD, at least.

I also use another streamer (not auris) which is wired (not wi-fi) and there is no difference at all. Haven’t tested the range, so can’t comment on that. This auris unit is connected to my yamaha receiver at my home office and the phone is always in that room while streaming, so range is not an issue for me.

Have got nothing to say about the DAC either. ESS Sabre DACs are known to be good. Generally you won’t find DACs this good on a bluetooth streamer, so no complaints there. Wasn’t expecting much with this purchase and I thought that I will need to return it and go for McIntosh MB20 eventually.

Boy, I was blown away!! I don’t think MB20 will sound better than this blueMe Pro (at 1/3rd the price of MB20 anyways). Overall, this is unit is built with solid components and hopefully will last for a while as well.

The bluMe Pro recently replaced a Logitech Bluetooth adapter in my component stereo system. When I replaced my analog preamp with a digital preamp at the start of the year, the limitations of the Bluetooth adapter were more apparent with it’s analog-only output.

The bluMe Pro brought up my cell phone and tablet sources to a higher level sound quality. It serves as a source expansion to my existing dedicated streamer/server, which streams a limited number of radio stations with online broadcasts over the internet, as well as serves music files saved at various resolutions on my solid state drive.

Before the Bluetooth was relegated to background music duty. Now Bluetooth is nice enough complement the server.

I just recently bought Denon AVR-S540BT receiver and not to happy with the quality of sound. I use to have a Denon about 20 years ago, loved it, but lost it when was traveling for hurricane and vehicle was stolen, so was the receiver.

Since then always wanted another Denon. When I purchased a home a few years ago previous owner left a Sony about 20 years old. I have the Sony in my garage. I recently was donated a pair of Cerwin Vegas E-712 plus I have a pair Bose 301, figured I would buy a Denon for these, I have this in the house.

For one could not set up receiver with my bigger TV in living room, had to use my smaller TV from the bedroom because of HDMI ARC. Question, can I now put back the original bigger TV to receiver or was that just for setting up.

Also it just didn’t sound right, I played with the setting for speakers, bass, treble, HZ, etc. The older Sony receiver in garage sounds much better than this new Denon receiver, the older Sony had more bass and much more crisp sound.

I feel I wasted my money, maybe that’s just how receivers are made today, feel like I should have purchased an older receiver from ebay or something. I’m kinda embarrassed to show off. I did show the difference to my brother and dad, we all were impressed with the old Sony receiver.

What is the problem here, why doesn’t a new receiver sound as good as a older one, is Sony that much better? Also the speakers in the house are much better than in the garage, and garage still sounded better.

I even brought the speakers from the house in garage and hooked up to Sony receiver and was impressed, saying that’s how the one inside should sound.

5 stars @ $350. Typical Denon — which is to say very good. Relatively low power, but great for a smaller room. Hard to beat at this price point. Now, please don’t interpret this as meaning this isn’t a worthwhile product.

It is. What it lacks is MORE than 5. 1 channels and it also lacks more than 70 watts of horsepower. However, if this is for your “smallish” room or, in our case, our bedroom, you will be pleased. If you are looking for the control center of your big bad home theater set up, you will be disappointed.

To step up, and I mean step UP, you will have to at least double your budget — more likely triple it. My impression is that Denon and Marantz are the real deal. I have a much more expensive Marantz in the home theater room, but this unit is, hmm, “Marantz-lite” — highly recommended.

This receiver works fine, but it seems like it was designed only to work, not with any enjoyment in mind. I hate it. You can connect your phone to use as a remote, but if you do that while playing something else, it automatically switches to bluetooth input.

If you like listening to radio, forget it- it’ll do presets, but there’s no intuitive way to keep track of them. Also doesn’t have incremental tuning, so you’re stuck with only the stations the receiver can find.

It has a feature that puts it to sleep automatically, but not in any smart way, it’s just a timer that starts when you turn the unit on. The controls on the front of the unit are annoyingly minimal, so you need to use the remote or the app for a lot of functions.

The remote is not particularly intuitive or useful, and the phone app is basically just a touchscreen version of the remote. I know this is just a cheap receiver, built to a pricepoint to fill a spot in the lineup.

If you use it just to do one or two things, like watch movies and listen to CDs, it’s fine. I guess technically it has a lot of functionality for how cheap it is. I bought it because it fits in a cabinet that I needed it to fit in (I know, stupid parameter).

The problem is that the user interface is not at all thoughtful, so all of that supposed functionality is just frustrating to use. If you plan to listen to radio and/or stream music (spotify), keep looking.

I’ll buy something else soon, it’ll either be smarter- as in a wifi-equipped unit- or a vintage receiver.

I am posting this review after 7 months. I purchased this to power my Edison XS. Very powerful. You can never play more than 80 pc of the volume. Music never gets distorted and it feel like a home theatre.

It is pricey but once u have it ,you do not have to look further.

Works perfectly and the range is great. App is kind of problematic though… Hopefully I will not need it much as I have the receiver plugged in a semi-permanent setup.

It’s a step up from my earlier headphone amp, a Grado RA-1, in that there is no background noise and the volume adjustment does not affect the L/R balance.

Biggest issue for me is that, paired with a set of Monoprice TWE earbuds, the sound is still delayed and doesn’t match up with the speaker’s lips. It’s close enough that I’ll keep it and use it with my exercise equipment, where I’m not paying that much attention anyway.

If I was just sitting and watching TV it would drive me nuts. I couldn’t get it to work with the optical output from my 10yo TV but quit trying when I was successful with the headphone jack on the AV receiver.

The portability is nice, saving me from trying to find a scarce power supply in the AV cabinet, just taking it down and giving it a charge occasionally. The cords included are also helpful.

I have had difficulty finding a Bluetooth transmitter that works with all my devices. I tried one Major brand, that worked with my Monoprice speaker and Tuinyo headphones, but not my JBL Flip5 speaker.

I tried another brand that worked with the Flip5, but not the headphones or the Monoprice speaker. I then tried the Monoprice Premium Bluetooth 5 Transmitter/Receiver and it worked with everything! It is small enough to tuck behind the wall mounted TV and I leave it plugged in to a USB charger.

It reconnects with paired devices as soon as they are turned on. No button presses on the transmitter are required. We use it for a bedroom TV and it’s range easily covers the bedroom/ensuite area. It will also connect to 2 devices at the same time.

If it keeps working as well as it is now, I highly recommend it.

This is an amazing piece of equipment right here. I started off needing a stereo for my drum rehearsal room yet couldn’t find anything that would allow headphones and speakers. With Bluetooth I am able to utilize the BT transmitter for that reason alone was nice.

I found I needed a TV to be able to operate all the functions of an AV receiver. Also it allows me to find internet radio stations as well as having a DVD player to watch music/drum videos, going through the TV I’m able to use ARC HDMI to run everything through the receiver for top quality sound and image with the many HDMI inputs.

The HEOS is amazing, yet you do have to have a WiFi or internet connection so this system would not do well without it in that aspect. Still many other functions work fine through the ARC or HDMI hook ups from game, Blu-Ray/DVD, phono, CD player, even cassette tapes.

So still discovering things with it but when it came to setting up the surround speakers for 5. 1 up to 7. 2 which I don’t need at the moment due to the room being 9 ft x 5 ft. The Audyssey system set up my sound for me in such a small room making the sound unbelievable in every square inch of the room although standing next to a speaker it obvious yet closing your eyes it’s difficult to determine where the sound emits from as the sound envelopes you.

My late 70’s model Technics SL-1700 never sounded better with Pink Floyd’s Darkside of the Moon to be the first music I played then to the crispness of Dream Theater Images and Words even at negative decibels.

As there are many options for speakers for surround sound I have yet to get zone 2 set up for the living room home theater being able to use the app remote to operate the system at the same time for a different purpose while also using the stereo in my drum room.

The owners man is a bit difficult to go through yet it has everything ya need it’s just ya gotta know what your looking for to be able to find it. ( I think that made sense) Overall I’m blown away by what I got.

Denon AVR-S750, yes there are newer models but I feel as if I found a space shuttle and just learning to flying it.

I previously owned a Denon and loved it, but wanted to upgrade. I was swayed by forums online and switched to their lead competitor. Underwhelmed by the hollow sound and facing lip sync problems, I returned that and purchased the Denon AVR-S750.

I am so happy with the Denon! First, it sounds incredible. I am pushing Jamo 803’s and C83. It simply sounds incredible, crisp, loud, and you can hear amazing detail and clarity. The room calibration was a breeze.

The operating system is very plain/basic, but it works. Think of Denon as the Apple of receivers. What they put out just works every time (except for the app, that is awful). I am using this with a Sony 950H TV, Apple 4K TV, Blu Ray Player, Roku, Nintendo Switch and legacy systems (even the old GameCube works great).

Each work flawlessly. The picture quality is better running through the AVR first then to the TV. I buy a lot of electronics refurbished and enjoy the cost savings. Denon does a great job. The unit came packed very nice.

Everything was like new. You would not be able to tell it was refurbished other than the fact the antenna included had a velcro cable tie rather than the black metal. I looked closely over everything, immediately did a factory reset and then updated the software.

I am not sure why this unit was returned, but my gain.

Along with this excellent AVR-S750H, I own a Denon AVR-X4300H and a Denon AVR-S660H and all three of them along with 10 HEOS speakers throughout our home makes for easy listening and in three of the rooms, easy viewing of film and television! I have had home theater systems by Onkyo (THX), Pioneer Elite and now Denon and Denon is the finest setup yet! Without hesitation I can and do, highly recommend Denon to family and friends.

This latest addition to our home entertainment was easy to set up and get going and as with our other two Denon AVRs, I am able to play not only my Pandora, SiriusXM and Amazon UHD selections in any room and any configuration with ease but that ability also includes CDs and vinyl! You can believe me when I say Denon is number one in our home.

I bought this to replace a 12-year-old Denon receiver that I was pretty happy with, but I wanted a receiver with a phono pre-amp and line in, which few receivers had 12 years ago. I didn’t expect the dramatic improvement in sound that the Yamaha offers.

I mainly use it to listen to classical and jazz recordings, some recent SACDs, but most are older CDs and LPs, plus a few mp3s and even old cassettes. This receiver has settings appropriate for any of these sources.

I am especially impressed with the “enhancement” setting which dramatically improves mp3s and cassettes that had compressed frequency range. But it is also very impressive with high end recordings. With SACDs I use the “pure direct” setting which provides a highly accurate reproduction of the original recording.

I don’t use this receiver much for movies and videos, but it has done a wonderful job with streaming movies in 4k and 5. 1 or 5. 1. 2 sound. As many online reviews have concluded, you have to pay a lot more to get anything better than this receiver.

The only possible drawback I can think of is that this is a very complicated piece of equipment with so many options and settings that are not always easy to figure out. In order to fully understand them, you really need the complete manual, which is only available online.

The brief quick-start guide that comes with the receiver hardly explains any of the options. That means that even a month after getting this receiver, I still refer to the nearly 400-page manual several times a week to refresh my memory as to what a given setting actually does.

It’s not perfect but its a pretty decent AV receiver. It was time to replace my old Yamaha audio receiver which finally gave up the ghost, the power section had issues and kept turning off. So I wanted to get a replacement that handled HDMI switching which my old one did not do and settled on this one.

First thing I noticed out of the box was how much lighter in weight this one was compared to my old receiver. I don’t view this as a plus though. I see that as lesser power driving capabilities but I’m going to assume all the brands are lightening up in this area unless you want to go real high end of the scale.

I’d consider this one in the mid range of the Yamaha line. It seems plenty loud enough but all the sound fields seem a little flat and tinny to me but I haven’t adjusted any of the built in eq settings yet.

I’m hoping I can tweak them a little more to my liking yet. It only has one optical digital input which is a con for me but I made it work. I’d like to see at least one more. I used that 1 optical input as the sound feed from my TV for the rare times I use the antenna signal from the TV tuner or for anything I would input directly to the TV inputs.

By doing this I was forced to use an analog audio input from my 400 disc CD jukebox, yes I still occasionally listen to Cd’s,so a second optical input would have been very nice for that. The setup menus I felt were ok, nothing pretty to look at but functional.

A few settings are not very clear in what they do unless you dig into the manual so a note on the screen would be helpful on a few of these settings. The full manual has to be downloaded online, no paper copy, not a surprise these days.

My biggest issue ,which caused a few days of hair pulling is related to the HDMI inputs 1-3 on the receiver. My ATT Uverse DVR set-top box was initially connected to HDMI input 1. EVERY time the system was powered up the uverse box would soft reset itself and you had to wait for it several minutes to come back up again.

I tried changing cables, forcing a hard reset of the Uverse stb so it reloaded its firmware. I tried turning off the HDMI control and ARC functions of the Yamaha receiver ,all were no help. I was thinking it was just a coincidence and maybe the box had just failed and was about to call ATT for a replacement.

I tried one last thing. I moved the cable to HDMI input 4 on the Yamaha and voila , it worked normally. I’m not sure what is different about the HDMI inputs 1-3 on the receiver, I have to dig into the manual to see what it says, but those 3 inputs are grouped separately on the back of the receiver.

But one thing is certain, ATT Uverse boxes do not play nice with them. For now I don’t have anything connected to those 3 inputs.

It is a powerful and full featured audio receiver, and I tried to give it the proper time to get over bugs and issues I was having. But nothing would fix or paper over the hdmi 2. 1 bugs and audio issues stemming from the lack of bandwidth on any of the ports.

I even made sure to get the manufactured after september date model and it still had the same bandwidth limiting features. My results were the same as anykne else trying new formats such as 4k 120, VRR, Atmos, and 8k 60.

There were direct communications that these issues would be fixed via future firmware updates but the problem lies in the hardware, not the sotfware. It simply cannot do 4k 120 with any premium sound or Dolby Vision.

It does do 4k 60 perfectly fine, as well as premium audio formats such as DTS:X and Atmos. Unfortunately, the money sunk does not give you all the advertised options, and waiting for firmware updates to fix hardware problems will be a dead end.

The advice I have is just what everyone else has done at this point. wait. either buy an Onkyo TX RZ50 (available from best buy as well, just never in stock) or lower your expectations for your high-end setup.

I have zero complaints with the audio processing and power to play my 7. 2 system.

First I have to say that the sound quality and performance of the unit itself is great. Clear sound and sufficient power for my Epicures and surround system. The AtmosX brings a new dimension to watching suitable movies.

I have switched to the 4k upscaling in the Denon now rather than the Samsung 65″ 9000series as the Denon quality and smoothness seems significantly superior. Unfortunately that is where the joy ends.

The AVRs software is buggy: even in the store demo, the Denons were having trouble losing the signal from the HDMI inputs requiring to be power cycled. Connecting via Bluetooth and the X2400 lost complete all inputs from the HDMI and remained dead for the rest of the demo: I should have taken it as a sign, but put it down to their complex in-store setup in store with 6 receivers all chained together to one screen and driven from one BluRay.

After listening, I decided on the X4400H for its better music sound quality and clearly better build than the 2400/3300. The icing on the cake was the salesperson advised I could use the HEOS speakers for my rear surround, thus being able to eliminate the wiring issues I face in rental apartments.

(I move a lot) (BTW: I have not found how to do this and believe it is not correct except for the basic AVR unit – happy to hear otherwise. ) So now the software: – Setup software I found actually to be quite good and well guided.

– The Audyssey setup was also fine but 8 Measurement points ! Com’on Denon – others do it with one. Thankfully you get the option to stop after 3 points. I wonder if these other measurements are really adding any noticeable difference to the setup.

-Regular issue when switching between HDMI sources that there is no input. As seen also on the store demo unit (Now I understand the big sign asking not to change any settings at the store). Power cycling normally fixes the issue.

I have since found that using the HEOS app instead of the remote or input selector dial fixes this issue 99% of the time. (go figure??) – Regular no audio input even though Video signal is coming through.

Again power cycle, change to anotehr input and then back using the App resolves the issue. – Separate Apps for the receiver (AVR Remote) and the Network sources/ network outputs (HEOS). Surely these could be integrated into one App ? Denon Please get with it?? -HEOS App itself is far from intuitive.

Pay particular attention to which ‘room’ you are in if you are also connected to HEOS speakers on the same Network. I think it would be great if Denon could get some end user feedback on this sucker as the functionality is basically OK, except.

-HEOS App fails to find the receiver from time to time (even though the AVR Remote connects fine). It can find the HEOS speakers I bought to use for the mentioned wireless rear surrounds. 🙁 , but not the receiver.

Solution use the AVR App cursor control and the onscreen display. -I have not worked how to play back video sources form my DLNA complaint server system. I run also an Emby server on top, but cant connect to either for Video.

The music files are all accessible and the HiRes and lossless files are all streamed and decoded flawlessly. Another gap in the HEOS App or a hidden connectivity I have not found yet ? Workaround is to use the 3y old Samsung TV to access the files and pass the audio back to the Receiver.

Yes: I have downloaded and installed latest firmware available. Hopefully further updates will resolve these issues. In the meantime I am sorry I could not recommend this unit. So all in all: The receiver does a great job when it is in operation.

just getting it there is so frustrating being never sure if what you select will work. Really I spent nearly 2G for this ? Background: I have had an old Sony 5. 1 Receiver that has served me reliably for nearly 2 decades without fault.

I upgraded to the Pioneer VSX1123 which I was happy until I moved after which it developed an intermittent fault: ‘A’ speakers play all the time even when B selected. Intermittent output to surround channels.

Pioneer service cant find the issue due to its intermittent nature and my guess is short time operation. after two services, this unit was consigned to the trash. ;-( The store I purchased Denon also had Pioneer / Onkyo, Marantz(not a fan).

The Onkyo was in my view the best sounding and much better value for money on their deep discounted sale but due to past reliability issue I was unwilling to consider. (Onkyo and Pioneer are the same company and I have read there is minimal differences in the equipment inside) If the store had Yamaha I would be seriously considering taking the Denon back for a trade.

I bought the x6300h brand new in mid-2017 (July) at an amazing price of around £1250. It stayed in its box new, untouched, and unused in storage for pretty much a full year due to a lengthy house purchase and move.

Thankfully, it had a 2 year manufacturer warranty by Denon as luck would have it, my x6300h was defective out of the box with one of the malfunctioning soundboard issues that had, as I subsequently learned through research on the internet, had afflicted a number of batches for this model.

Denon did their thing and got my new AVR sent (I dropped it in at a local authorised Denon retailer) off to an authorised repairer, whom solved the issue with a complete replacement of the soundboard.

Once back in pristine condition and now fully working, the sound is absolutely phenomenal. I run a 7. 2. 4 configuration primarily for Dolby Atmos and DTS: X, plus getting the benefits of their new upmixing technologies, Dolby Surround and DTS: Neural X.

The sound stage has a beautifully dynamic, nuanced, and well balanced sound and completely obliterates the often harsh sound that my previous Onkyo TX-NR626 – admittedly a decent budget receiver and was great for £250, but no comparison with the x6300h.

Audyssey’s flagship XT32 room correction is phenomenal and far better than the basic MultEQ on my Onkyo. Also, this AVR has plenty of power in the amps for me. Audyssey is one of the reasons I went for Denon as many other brands have ditched Audyssey for other room correction technologies.

A great all in one system, and if the x6300h is anything to go by, then I’m sure its successors in both the x6400h and x6500h are well worth the money!.

I gave my niece and her husband my Onkyo 1009 AVR and I purchased the Denon AVR-X8500H and never looked back. ! This bad boy has 15 channels but only 13 can be used at one time, so I’m hooked up to 11 channels at the moment, with two large Polk floor standing speakers that are bi-amped and 9 satellite speakers and one sub, this is perfect for my apartment.

One thing that caught my attention about the Denon was when I compared it to the big Integra DRX-R1. 1, the two front channels on the Integra are strapped with two AKM 4490 Dacs while the other channels are using the AKM 4458 Dacs and only 3 SHARC DSP chips.

The Denon X8500H is fired up with 4 SHARC, 4th generation DSP chips, with the AL(alpha) 32 processing chips which supports the 192 kHz multi-channel sampling rate designed for the Blu-ray discs on every channel.

! Then they strapped this bad boy for the BEST possible soundstage and dynamic range, with the reference AK4490EQ DAC on EVERY CHANNEL, the method to this madness is totally different. My center speaker has NEVER sounded like this before and my little satellites have ALL come ALIVE, these little guys are performing like they are on steroids.

!!! The DSP sound processing is on the money, this unit is worth EVERY penny as far as I’m concerned. Wheater it’s Blu-ray, CD, USB or Streaming I get a different presentation every time. Denon is correct when they call this a listening experience.

I originally bought a refurbished Denon AVR 540. I only bought it over the Yamaha because the Yamaha was unavailable in the US. After struggling to set the Denon up for about a week the Yamahas suddenly showed up for a very short period of time, and I managed to get one from BB.

I sent the Denon back to the refurbish shop where the technicians could again pretend to fix it. The Yamaha has been so easy to set up, and so far is flawless. The Denon had serious HDMI issues. It would change inputs on it’s own, TV would just turn off, I’d be watching Roku through the receiver and all of a sudden it would switch to DVD, etc.

The Yamaha works as planned. I hit the button for TV, the receiver comes on, the tv comes on, the Satellite comes on. If I activate the bluetooth on my iPad the receiver comes on, it switches to bluetooth, and it starts playing (if I’ve activated Pandora, etc).

I can listen to BT or FM while watching sports. If I hit the DVD button the receiver comes on, the DVD player comes on, the TV comes on (not necessary for me, as I only use the DVD player as a CD player) The sound is fine.

This setup is in our bedroom, with a 43″ Samsung 8000 series TV, with 3 Paradigm Atom speakers across the front, a very cheap Monoprice 8″ subwoofer, and no surround speakers. Not nearly an audio or videophile system, but great for a bedroom.

The Yamaha handles the processing for a 3. 1 channel system beautifully. The auto speaker setup was easy, fast, and effective. The unit is very adjustable. You can change the volume display from the actual db setting to the relative setting (0=100) which always seems easier and more useful.

You can program the extra bass and the compressed music enhancer to come on with appropriate sources. This is a great secondary theater receiver, and a great for the price unit for a main theater. I would think about how much expansion I might need in the future, and how much of the current and future Surround processing I think I’d utilize, as this unit is not the current state of the art, and not very accomodating to many more inputs than I am utilizing.

But for my purposes it is perfect.

After using it for the last few months, I can safely say that it’s worth the money! However, it does have it’s quirks. For example. I had an issue with it cutting back on after 3-5 minutes after powering the unit off.

So I ended up having to turn off the HDMI control setting so the system isn’t randomly turning back on (seemed to do the trick). I guess the other devices are interfering with it somehow. Even turned the bluetooth off on both the receiver and other devices, but that didn’t seem to work.

Also had an issue where it will sometimes randomly change to another audio input setting on the receiver when changing the t. v. audio input (on my Sony t. v. ), back to the receiver audio setting. There’s also a long delay (20-30 seconds) on the receiver when cutting it back on (because I’ll often just switch to the t.

v. speakers late at night so it’s not loud when watching t. v. ). All in all I would recommend. Plenty of sound settings, and tons of customization on the receiver. Although it will take you awhile to get used to it if you’re a novice with newer audio receivers.

Thinking about taking this one back seeing as it may be defective. Or, these particular Yamaha receivers might just have bugs.

Great entry-level AVR for both movies and music. I run a simple 2. 0 setup with Polk Series III floorstanding speakers. I decided to upgrade my old, non-HDMI AVR for two reasons: 1) better sound quality for my 320 kbps music streaming, and 2) the ability to finally play audio from my Samsung Q60 TV through my stereo 2.

0 setup (which also lacked an optical audio input). I also game on an Xbox One X and wanted to make sure that the AVR would be capable of smoothly passing through 4K HDR content. This receiver excels at all aspects.

The music quality is surprisingly improved, particularly with the Compressed Music Enhancer function. I always thought all receivers would sound basically the same when it comes to simple music playback in stereo, but there’s a noticeable improvement to my ears in terms of both detail and clarity.

So far I prefer using the STRAIGHT preset in combination with Compressed Music Enhancer for listening to albums. On the 0-97 scale, I find 50-60 is generally loud enough for reasonable listening in my ~ 700 sq.

ft. apartment living room. On the video side, I was able to get the HDMI ARC function working surprisingly quickly. I have the Xbox plugged into HDMI 1 on the AVR, and another cable running from HDMI Out on the AVR to my TV’s HDMI ARC input.

This lets me send consistent 4K HDR video signals from my Xbox, through the AVR and to the TV without any distortion or lag, and returns the audio through the speakers. Even though I don’t have a surround setup, I typically use the Surround Decoder along with the Game preset for pretty good results.

Audio from shows and movies streamed from my TV’s various apps (Netflix, HBO etc. ) also works well. I debated forsaking the video stuff and just getting a higher quality stereo amplifier, but the ability of this AVR to coordinate with my Samsung TV’s Anynet+ features for media switching is what sealed the deal for me.

Using the HDMI Arc setup described above, and after enabling HDMI control on this AVR, the AVR automatically 1) switches to TV audio whenever it detects a streaming app, 2) switches to the audio and video signals coming from the Xbox whenever I start it up, and 3) automatically switches to the audio channel I have my Chromecast Audio plugged into whenever I feel like listening to music.

The AVR also passes the audio and video from my Xbox through while powered off – and the TV automatically switches on its onboard speakers when the AVR is powered off, no manual digging into TV settings required! The only potential drawback in terms of functionality is that using this ARC setup, the TV doesn’t automatically switch in and out of Game Mode depending on the media source, since it’s all being routed into the TV via the same single HDMI input.

I don’t mind leaving Game Mode on for movie streaming, but for those that would, you could alternatively connect your game system into another TV input rather than pass it through the AVR (though the game’s audio would still be returned via ARC to your external speakers).

The only other drawback so far is the YPAO calibration. It was easy to connect the mic and run the quick calibration, but the results were just awful! For some reason it turned my right (front) speaker down by 10dB, making music sound horribly tinny.

I manually went in and restored it, now everything sounds great. I was hoping it’d automatically give me a more fine-tuned calibration on the order of a couple dB (without me having to figure it out by trial and error), but oh well.

Overall a fantastic product, especially at this price.

Well I wrote a lengthy review and ebay deleted it because it wanted authentication so it made me sign in again. So I lost it. Long story short: -I have owned this for 25 months I can’t say I’ve used it every day for these past 2 years, but I use it at least once a week.

And this is always is on when my stereo is on, so it’s powered for hours at a time almost every single week since August ’19. -I hooked this up to the stereo receiver I set up in my garage so I could stream music from my phone while I am on my driveway working on cars and doing yardwork.

My stereo sits on top of a refrigerator on top of one of the small speakers -I have used it for 8 hours straight in the middle of the summer for days at a time when temps are 90*F and higher with both high and low humidity.

-I have used this for a few hours at a time when temps around 20*F as I am shoveling snow. -And every temp between those numbers, -Line of sight range is maybe 40-50ft -Signal can pass thru 3 inside walls of a house no problem (about 20ft) -Range thru an outside wall with 1 layer of brick is about 25-30ft -Range thru that same wall and 4 ft of concrete is maybe 10ft.

-If I am walking around my car on the driveway, the signal will break up. So in my opinion the signal can travel about 20-25ft thru the 1 wall with brick but can’t do that AND go thru a medium sized car without breaking up as you move.

Sometimes if I set my phone on the roof of my car or on the dashboard it is ok, but passing thru car sheetmetal is not something it likes to do. **I don’t know if that’s due to the signal strength of the device or my Samsung phone.

-Audio quality is great! I use the optical output on the BlueDento to the stereo and the audio I hear over the speakers is identical to what I hear via my Harmon Kardon speakers connected to my Mac Pro tower when I stream music from the exact same sources (Audacy and Youtube) -I originally bought this because it was the only unit at the time that offered both digital coaxial AND optical outputs, and it was $90 less than the Audioengine unit.

A superb sounding little device, true hi-fi quality. Perhaps a slightly narrower soundstage than CD but none the less a brilliant listen and the more I use it the more I like it. I find myself listening to it all day without getting tired.

I have in fact recommended this to several friends and I will be purchasing a couple more for my kids. I use Apple Music so I have several thousand albums on my iCloud and what a fantastic way to play them.

The inbuilt DAC is superior to using your iPhone through headphones also. What an absolute bargain this is but please beware that the price on eBay in the UK doesnt include 20% vat and is only added on when you come to pay for it.

This little device is definitely a hi-fi kind. I connected it to my hi-fi system and use it for everyday, casual listening. For active listening I have another, real DAC, which is far better, but also about 10 times more expensive.

Of course I made an A-B comparison between the two, which may seem unfair considering their prices, but BluDento surprised me in a good way. I find it sounds natural, which I really like. In the last few years I’ve had four different and very well rated dacs and I got rid of them because they sounded artificial to me.

This is simply not the case with cheap BluDento, its sound is more analog like. Although it lacks the finest details, the soundstage recreation is good, even better in depth than in width, at least in my system.

I connect three different sources to BluDento, depending on which one I use at a given time. Switching Bluetooth connections between devices is flawless. The only significant drawback of this device is the low sound output level, so you should turn up the volume on the amp or preamp.

If only one optical digital input were added for use as a regular dac, it would be even better.

I had a similar device for my TV which was connected to my Yamaha home theatre with receiver, so I know how this product works and what I am buying. Unfortunately Fiio – BTA30 Pro was out of stock even in FIIO India website.

But now I am happy I got it from HPZ. About the product, great build quality, improved sound quality, Versatility King. Easy recommended for it’s various features it offers. I don’t think there is a product like BTA-30 in India.

Having a coaxial cable is a nice addition apart from optical cable ports. I got for a good deal of 9669 INR. Highly recommended if you watch TV with Bluetooth headphones and you play music on home theatre from mobile.

There is no equal and a one time purchase.

Was looking out for something that works like schiit sys to switch audio b/w my logitech bluettoth receiver and laptop audio. Came across this and one of the best decisions i have made is to purchase this.

Has bluetooth built in along with a dac to stearm hi res audio through usb to solve my use case in a better and efficient way. Doesn’t hurt the pocket though. Only limitation for me is i am unable to stream hi res audio through my iphone.

Except that every thing works perfect.

Basically using this as a bluetooth receiver + audio input switch with (app-based) remote, outputting digital to a little miniDSP digital crossover. It is incredibly hard to find a device with this capability and this is working well.

(Will someone please make a basic 2-channel DAC with built-in and app-configurable digital crossover + stereo digital output for subwoofer!).

Really decent build quality. I set this amplifier up today. It has excellent high frequency response but the bass lacks substance and not enough inputs. I utilized a Midas Mixer (Pro Audio) to utilize the tape, CD, FM Tuner, Phonograph for my garage setup.

Decent detail and depth the HF definition is very good. Im utilizing the Advent Baby II Speakers which have an outstanding treble/mid response but lack substantial bass. I added the BBE Sonic Maximizer to sharpen up the system for a larger soundstage.

The system sounds great.

When you call an amp a “Tube” amp, and claim it doesn’t harshly “clip” like a solid state amp, i. e. amp reaches it’s power limits and starts distorting, you’re talking about a TUBE output section, the part of the amp powering the speakers.

They slip in the comment in the video this is a “Hybrid” amp, meaning part solid state, part tube. This usually means the output section is solid state, and the PRE-AMP section is tube, with possibly a tube rectifier converting AC wall power.

This design does NOT benefit from “soft” tube clipping if the output section is actually solid state. Specs show good performance, but no better than a typical solid state output section amp with much higher output power.

The attraction of this amp is it just looks cool and you can claim it’s a “tube amp” for the novelty of it.

AMAZING little amp for the price. Plenty of power. (I run six large speaker cabinets through a splitter). Warm tone. Very compact. Gripes are few (Can’t use headphones and speakers at the same time. “Balance” knob doesn’t do much.

) Overall? Doubtful you could find a better product for this price ANYWHERE,.

I too was looking for a way to make my turntable more accessible. It’s been sitting behind a door in my little TV stand, down low to the floor and really a pain to use. I’m 55 and have been lugging some vinyl around with me since middle school that I wanted to start playing again.

So I pulled it out, moved it across the room to my bookshelf, and hooked this gadget up to it. I have an Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB turntable and a Pioneer VSX-LX104 receiver. Setup was pretty easy once I figured out which setting to use on the turntable.

Paired right away. Using the HD setting creates a lag but it’s audio only so that doesn’t matter. Connects right away when I turn it on and even powers up the receiver on the correct input setting. There’s probably some signal degredarion using wireless over wires, but after decades of concerts and headphone usage my hearing probably isn’t what it used to be, and man the convenience is awesome! I find some albums sound better than others, but there may be other factors involved there.

I’m always looking for better but as an audio layman, I haven’t found anything that boasts better specs. Range isn’t an issue for me because I’m just going across a small room. The voice menu is pretty cool.

I had to dig up a USB power adapter though, as it doesn’t come with one. Overall I’m very pleased. I’m even buying vinyl again!.

It works ok for listening to music. I was slightly annoyed that the plug is only USB, and they don’t include a way to plug that into a socket. Luckily I had a spare one, but seriously that’s lame. Also there is a static noise that occurs every now and then in between songs.

It doesn’t occur when I play music from the same device when plugged directly into the amp, only when using this Bluetooth device. Also the static happens unpredictably, and not all the time, nor in between the same songs.

It’s annoying, but I guess I can live with it.

An incredible device. Range: Put it on my third floor in the middle of Washington DC. It covered the whole house including the basement. Found one dead spot where even conventional radios don’t work.

Sound: Waaaay better than the same material from my Android smart phone. Clearly the higher bit rate delivers. This is to good Bose earphones. I’m sorely tempted to hook this thing up to a serious audio system and see if it’s a good way to tap internet audio.

Latency: Didn’t test with a TV but I suspect the lip sync won’t be perfect. There’s a noticeable delay if I compare what’s coming through the earphones with what’s coming directly through a hard wired audio monitor.

Instructions: Well the sorta covers the basics and syncing was uneventful. Separate “manuals” is four languages are included. Cons: Kinda miss not getting a power supply. They give you a USB power adapter cable, but it,s up to you to provide the USB power supply.

Wish the gadget had a bit more heft or a way to keep it from wagging around on the cables. Would have appreciated at least one 3. 5mm stereo jack to male RCA plugs cable. But they do provide and recommend optical cables.

Conclusion: Lots of headroom in the audio. Just plain works once you get the right cables and power supply. 100 foot range is sweet. Not cheap but for once you get something for your money!.

Once we decided to finally replace our wonderful but aging 1980 Kenwood receiver, we were faced with a serious dilemma: what to replace it with? There are plenty of expensive high-end stereo receivers out there, but are they *really* worth it? Maybe if cost were no object, I wouldn’t care, but most of us have to do other things with our money, like eat or have a roof over their heads.

Most of the searches put this receiver at the top of the list, which annoyed me. Mostly because I had (spoiler: past tense) a long-standing issue with Sony dating back to the 1980s. My spouse convinced me to finally put it to rest and order this receiver.

Boy, am I glad that we did. First off, it sounds just as good as our Kenwood, and takes up about 40% of the space. It has a real phono input, and three aux inputs, one of which is perfect for a tape deck.

I would’ve preferred two tape inputs for dubbing, but en external box works just as well. The look is very clean, and there aren’t a lot of unnecessary frills. I do have one or two nitpicks, though. The biggest is the connection for the FM antenna, which looks more like s fan connector on a motherboard than a real set of screw terminals or a coax connection.

I’m STILL trying to figure out how I’m going to patch in a better antenna. Also, I miss having AM. Yeah, I know, but there are still a few really good AM stations out there, and it’d be nice to have the option to listen to them.

HD FM would also be nice, but again I’m nitpicking. Overall, I’ve not seen a better value out there. We’ve had plenty of gear over the years from every manufacturer, and I’d put this Sony receiver up against any of them.

Once I got over my snit with Sony, ir became obvious stat hey still care about good stereo music.

The previous reviews are much more technical than this will be I’m sure. However…if you’re looking for a very clean, fairly powerful, beautiful sounding modern receiver with a retro feel and sound, then this is for you.

This replaced an early 70’s Harmon that finally gave up one channel (still getting g it repaired eventually) and I chose this one to run my turntables. I’m currently running a Pioneer PL15D with a Technics tone arm, Dual head, and Shure cartridge and with the built in preamp for turntables, this thing is as clean as it’s ever been.

Doesn’t matter if I’m running vintage 70’s rock or new production grunge vinyl…it all is clean as can be. This receiver has all the modern fun things like Bluetooth and usb but with the sound and warmth of a vintage receiver.

Dare I say it almost sounds tubish? It’s got that much warmth. You do have to crank it a bit to get it loud but it handles it just fine. Read the review about the board and certain features being found on more expensive receivers.

Absolutely spot on. I’m currently running a pair of Fisher 15” towers and a pair of 12” Fisher towers off it and it does very well with them (both sets are OG 8 ohm setups with the white woofers made in Japan).

Honestly, this is the best bang for your buck. I was thinking “eh, it’s cheap…I’ll run it until I find a vintage marantz or something”. Nope. Not even looking at this point. There’s simply no need. It’s the best of both worlds as far as modern and vintage tone go.

Just buy it. You’ll love it. Now, it is fairly niche though…if you’re not wanting a 2 channel old school style receiver and instead wanting some Dolby 15. 9. 2. 1 or whatever super duper surround sound with built in prostate massager, this isn’t it.

This is more retro than anything. If you’re wanting to use it for it’s intended use, you’ll be more than happy with it. I can really see this being amazing with some JBL bookshelf or smaller tower speakers in a den or office too.

It would sound incredible.

I had an old Sony receiver that was amazing. It crapped out on me after 35 years. I’ve been trying to get it fixed for the last six months. I would’ve paid anywhere from $200 to $300 to get it fixed but nobody would fix it locally.

So I stuffed it in the garage and decided to buy a new unit. I bought this BASIC unit right before Christmas so that when family VISITED over the holidays, I would have something to play music from my phone.

Although this unit is basic the sound it pushes out is crisp and I’m very pleased with it. Other features that I like is the ability to connect two pair of speakers to the unit, and of course the ability to connect a Bluetooth device to it without having to use the aux with a RCA jack.

I also like the simple operations but that comes with some cons because I don’t have the pro logic or cinema options for a center speaker or two rear speakers. However, this unit will hold me over until supplies for receivers are back to normal.

And for the price of 170, I think it was worth the investment. I really don’t have anything bad to say about the unit because the value for what I got is worth it. I will say though, had there been other options to fulfill all of my needs, I probably would not have purchased this unit but rather invested in a unit that cost twice as much.

Great value for the money is all I can say.

I purchased an Aria Me and Oasis Plus about 2 years ago because I have significant high frequency hearing loss. These help me watch movies and improve my ability to understand dialogue. I can adjust the headset volume independent of the TV volume, allowing others to hear the TV at comfortable sound levels.

My wife has an Aria Podio. We will transmit to both headsets simultaneously while on our boat, thus not blasting out the marina. My 89 year old father in-law also has high frequency hearing loss and has to set the TV volume very high to hear it.

I let him try my headset and he was pretty amazed with how much better he could hear the dialogue. Therefore I purchased an Aria Me and Oasis B as a Christmas gift. I created a custom hearing profile for him and set it up, and he loves it.

His wife likes it too since she can have the TV sound set to a more reasonable level. We also paired it to his cell phone and he can more easily talk on the phone.

Exactly what I needed, as my TV wasn’t as smart as I needed it to be no Bluetooth, but thanks to Advantree now I have excellent Bluetooth connection to my Ear buds and my Bose over ear headphones too.

With the bypass feature I have my soundbar connected too. Everything works together so good. simple installation, excellent range for sure. only for location purposes I had to get a longer Optical cable other than that.

EXCELLENT product and Great Customer Service too. Highly recommend this company and their products, as I searched far send wide and found just what I needed right here. Hope this review helps someone who is also searching.

Doesn’t work with streaming services on TVs that don’t have the ability to control digital audio. Dolby digital has been around a longer than Bluetooth so why sell a product that’s not compatible. Wish I knew this before buying.

Product itself seems pretty decent but sort of useless with my Sony Bravia TV. Whole reason to buy one of these is older TVs don’t have Bluetooth. Useless product in my opinion.

If you are thinking of saving a few bucks on a cheaper blue tooth receiver, don’t got down that path. Believe me, I am the consummate bargain hunter, which includes quality for the price ratio. This Audioengine B1 is superb.

I was so happy when I plugged it in and my home theater (and life) instantly improved by a quantum leap. I tried every cord, speaker and gimmick to make my laptop sound decent when I am streaming movies through my projector on a big screen.

Everything was a flop, and the sound was embarrassing when I had guests over. Now with the B1 plugged into the AUX of my receiver, 8 speakers engage ferociously and that big, deep sound excitement is part of my Netflix, Amazon or other streaming experience.

World Wide Stereo was so so profesh and super fast. Even the packaging put a smile on my face when I fished it out of the sea of Amazon boxes I get each week. Bravo.

I was using a 30 dollar USB receiver with a limited range and limited connectivity (no more than two devices could connect to it). It became a hassle, so I read a review in Wirecutter that recommended Aundioengine B1 as their best rated product in the audiophile range.

Once installed, the difference in the sound was astonishing (Peachtree Nova amp; Revel Performa speakers). Now I can take my sound source around the house without dropping the signal or the sound quality, and can also connect many devices.

I am extremely happy with my purchase. One recommendation: I had initially connected the Audioengine B1 to the amp as the source of power, but had a lot of noise. I then connected it directly to the power outlet and now it is silent, as it should be.

Great buy.

After lusting after Marantz for years, and waiting for the 4K issue with their chip sets to resolve, I finally took the leap in to a higher end receiver to take full advantage of 4k via HDMI 2. 2, 8k upscaling, and all the other features packed into this unit.

I’ve owned the SR6015 AVR for close to 3 months now, and the time has flown by while I’ve been enjoying this unit. I upgraded my TV to 55″ Samsung LED 4K in 2019 and set my sights on a receiver immediately after.

Bought this unit to replace an ~2007 Yamaha receiver, and the difference is night and day. Screen display is bright and vibrant through the 4K upscaling, but I’m noticing some issues of blending between shades of black and gray, as well as colors in general.

I’ll keep adjusting settings, but I may wind up replacing the TV to something more on par with the quality of this receiver as opposed to the mid-tier Samsung I currently have. Audyssey set up was a breeze, and even with an off-center seating/viewing configuration, Audyssey did a great job calibrating the offset that audio separation of the channels is clearly distinguishable and consistent in volume.

I bought a pair of Sony Atmos add-on speakers as much for the price as the convenience, since I’m currently shopping for a new set of speakers. Currently connected to a pair of NHT 2. 1s, Super Center, and Super 1 surrounds.

After 20 years, these things still sound amazing but I want to upgrade L&R fronts for integrated Atmos. Bass is supported by a 300-watt Polk audio powered sub, also on the agenda to be upgraded. All HDMI’s throughout are Audioquest Carbon 8K, and all 5 front speakers are connected by Monster Z2.

It’s great for movies, gaming on the PS4 is seamless with no discernable lag, and the playback of streaming 4K via the Samsung UHD Player is amazing. I haven’t purchased any 4K source materials yet, but I’m eager to see this perform with actual hardcoded materials, as opposed to compressed signal.

While it’s currently connected via Wi-Fi, I’m not using any of the features like Pandora or Spotfiy, just because I don’t want to stop watching movies with the new audio. So far, I haven’t found anything I’m disappointed about in performance, but I do wish the little Marantz circle lit up like their other receivers.

I love home theater. My main HT room sports for audio a Marantz pre-pro 7702 mk2 and an Outlaw Audio 7900. Dual SVS 12″ PB12-Plus Subwoofers. Mirage HDT Home-Theater Speaker System with 2 additional surrounds.

I have loved the sound of my Marantz pre-pro for all HT experiences there, from 4k streaming to the Oppo UDP-203 BD player. That is why this review is so sad for me to write. In our bedroom we have a 65″ 4k Sony 90J smart TV.

Speaker system is a DefTech ProCinema 800 with 2 extra surrounds and an additional DefTech matching sub. Had used a Pioneer L105 and last year replaced that with a Sony STR-DN1080 receiver. I was frankly very impressed with all aspects of the Sony receiver and was frankly surprised at its performance.

Well, an HDMI port (the eARC channel no less) developed issues in that it would not pass through streaming audio from the TV to the receiver. It was the receiver as tested with another older receiver.

Sony was great and it is being repaired now. But I got the envies for a better experience for the bedroom HT so I went out and bought this Marantz SR7015. I was frankly really excited about setting this thing up and experiencing Valhalla in the lesser HT room.

Long story short. incredibly disappointed with the performance of this receiver. Ran the Audessey setup multiple times. Tried to then do the settlings manually. Admittedly clear dialog, but the sound was actually somewhat anemic.

Surround effects not impressive at all and seemed to muddle through the surrounds as opposed to establishing a clear surround field. Experimented with it for 2 days and finally could not justify the tremendous cost outlay for the return I was getting.

Again, I love my Marantz pre-pro in the main room, but as much as I wanted to like this unit I simply could not. The much less expensive Sony receiver was louder, punchier, more accurate and just a more fun experience to me.

We brought it back today. Much of HT audio is subjective and this experience certainly qualifies as that. But I have to say that while it may fit the bill for many, I did later see similar experiences on web reviews for this unit.

I hope if you buy it you will love it. But for me, it just was not in the cards.

I recently purchased the Marantz SR6015 about a week ago. So far, I am pretty blown away by it. My setup consists of two B&W 603 S2 fronts and a B&W HTM6 S2 center, and a Rythmik sub. I was previously using a Denon X4300H as my receiver, which actually has more power than this one.

Even though the Denon had more power, the quality of sound from the 6015 is just so much better. I find the dialog from the Marntz is very clear and easier to understand. The bass out of my fronts is more impactful, and individual sounds just really stand out.

I am using my receiver using ARC, so I can’t comment on the video performance. Setup of the receiver is dead simple. Just plug in your speakers and inputs to the appropriate spot and you are good to go.

The Audyssey software does a good job detecting the speakers and setting the appropriate distances. I would recommend buying the MultiEq app that gives you some extra control customizing the Audyssey configuration.

My one complaint with the Marantz, is that it has such a small front display. I noticed the higher end models have second hidden display in the front. I really wish they would have added it here as well.

I was debating getting an Anthem receiver, but hearing how hard they are to setup (and seeing the Best Buy associate having a problem using it) I decided to go with Marantz instead.

This receiver has many things going for it. EARC support, Dolby atmos and vision support, assignable terminals, etc, however I believe the spec of 145w can trick people into thinking they’re getting more than reality.

Let me explain Sony rates this receiver 145 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 1ch THD 0. 9%). A couple things to note, this receiver does NOT support 4ohm, so if you need that look elsewhere. Secondly, while most brands include a rating for their receivers based on 8ohm, 20hz, 2 channel driven, Sony only gives its rating at 6ohms impedance, 1kHz starting frequency, and 1 channel driven.

What this means is if you intend to use this as a 7 channel system, at 6 ohms, the maximum theoretical watts per channel you can expect is 20 watts per channel. Expect less if you use 8 ohm speakers.

Not to mention that 1kHz starting frequency will yield higher wattage results, so also expect less if you have things going down to 20Hz. This receiver is also passively cooled and will throttle itself <5 watts under heavy loads.

The distortion level THD (Total harmonic distortion), is also quite high. 0. 5% is considered great, but Sony is rating this at 0. 9%. This is worrisome for loud music listening. I would suggest not going beyond volume 60 for this reason.

Enough with the rating, what about the experience setting up and using the receiver? The setup is fairly straight forward, although it is disappointing to see Sony still using push pin speaker terminals on the latter 5 channels, but it isn’t a huge deal.

Getting through the setup screen is fairly easy, and it does come with a calibration microphone that gives a simple measurement of speaker level and distance. Other brands have better and more advanced calibration methods, but this one gets the job done.

My biggest gripe is the microphone itself. In the two years I’ve owned this receiver, I’ve had to replace the microphone 3 times, as it breaks very easily. It will look fine, but the receiver will refuse to accept the input, so I’d suggest being very delicate if you get this receiver.

The rest of the setup is pretty straight forward, nothing to complain about. My next complaint comes with the GUI of this receiver. It only provides you with basic adjustments. If you want to adjust every setting, you will have to use the receiver screen, which is pretty disappointing looking at other manufacturers that have moved away from that style of configuration to complete onscreen controls.

In 2022, I would not recommend this product. For the price, the competition delivers higher wattage per channel, less harmonic distortion, HDMI 2. 1 support, full onscreen control, and a much better calibration system.

I was interested in a budget home theater sound system. Having gone through several soundbars at different price points and not enjoying the sound experience, it was time to research in store. If you’re in the North Dartmouth store, I always lean on Jayden for advice on all things Sony.

I gave Jayden my budget and wanted equipment that would play nicely with my 85″ Sony X900H (purchased in March 2021). He pointed me towards this receiver, and I have been happy so far. I have a Xfinity 4K DVR and an XBOX Series X running to this receiver with no issues.

The only issue I have had so far is running my Apple TV 4K (1st GEN 64GB) through to this. For reasons I can’t explain, I get green flashes across my screen when I have Apple TV in Dolby Vision. I tried several fixes (including several HDMI cables), but the only fix was running the Apple TV to my TV (input 4).

That aside this is one nice receiver. Movies sound incredible and so does normal TV broadcasts. It is not a huge receiver compared to let’s say a Marantz, Denon or JVC to name a few. That’s something I like because my entertainment center is just able to accept this receiver.

Along with this receiver Jayden pointed me towards these Sony speakers as well. Front towers are model #SSCS3, Center channel model #SSCS8, Rear bookshelf’s model #SSCS5 and Dolby Atmos Elevation model #SSCSE.

I am using my own subwoofer (Martin Logan Dynamo 500). Overall, a really nice system that didn’t cost me a lot of money but is delivering BIG TIME! And if you catch the sales correctly, you can score all this for a better price than I did! I honestly highly recommend everything listed here in my review.

Here’s the thing, the receiver has a limited feature set, and that has caused some reviewers to rate it poorly. The problem with their view is that this is a budget friendly set, that has very good features for the money.

What can you expect from this? Well you can run this in a 5. 1. 2 configuration for your Dolby Atmos or DTS-X needs, or you can run it in a 7. 2 setup for a more immersive experience with a larger stage.

You do not get pre amps and only a limited number of the connector support banana plugs. You get a sound tuning Mic that works fairly well with the receiver, and a visual interface for your TV, so you can see your speaker configuration right on screen and tweak the levels for all of them.

As for the sound, well I find the entire setup sounds far better than the Bose 900, bass, and rear speaker package. Yet I paid exactly the same price as I would have for the Bose 900 and have far more flexibility with the speakers I purchased in that package.

Overall, if you’re looking to build out a decent entry level Atmos setup, this is probably your best option and you will most likely enjoy what it delivers.

Don’t let the look’s fool you , like me. This Onkyo Stereo Receiver lacks the tone quality. The Bass controls does not go up to 10 dB , and the Treble only goes up to 6dB. So your not getting the full tone control plus their is no Loudness control.

So this Receiver lacks sound quality. And I was using this with my beautiful sounding Polk Speakers and My Polk Sub Still It’s a piece of junk. The older Onkyo Stereo Receiver are much better from the 90’s.

Just hooked the unit up to my Klipsch R-15 speakers and Yamaha subwoofer. So far my impressions are that this unit is made extremely well and is very user friendly. Not too many bells and whistles, just enough for a basic hi-fi setup which I like.

Phono input, subwoofer output and Bluetooth connectivity were musts for me. Bluetooth connects very quickly! Equalizer and balance works fine. My only complaint like other people is that the unit isn’t the most powerful.

I wouldn’t recommend using this with anything other than bookshelf speakers. And it’s not that it won’t get loud, it does, I just don’t like how close I got to the maximum volume. But if you’re looking for a well built, pure sounding unit for a living room this will serve you well.

Can’t wait to listen to my record collection through this system. Ultimately satisfied with my decision.

This is a straightforward stereo receiver, which can handle analog and fiber optic and bluetooth digital inputs. The sound quality is excellent. I can’t comment on the radio, since I don’t use it. Easy to set up and use.

Awesome range, easy to connect. Love that it saves up to 8 devices. As a DJ I love to use it when setting up and breaking down. Or just when I need an interlude and I am not mixing.

It internal scan says it is in working condition and on but doesn’t work. These receivers have a remote function- was it turned off and you didn’t send me the controls. Also, top and bottom came scratched, which makes it look like someone had it installed somewhere.
