20 Best Logs For Mushroom Plugs (2023 Updated)

This is my 4th mushroom kit from this company. The first one I bought at Walmart and it grew one flush then nothing else, my 2nd two were from Amazon and they were the pink oysters. Both of those arrived in bad condition.

They were not kept at the right temperature and had already had mushroom growth that was soggy and rotting. My 4th kit, came from my Social Nature coupon that I used at Target. Redeeming the coupon was a huge hassle and took forever.

The register kept saying that the coupon could not be used even though it said “redeem at Target”. It took a manager to come and reduce one of my other items by $20 then add the mushroom grow kit in.

The problem wasn’t with Target, it was with the coupon. Anyhow, I bought the last mushroom grow kit on the shelf, brought it home and opened it up. Ugh. Again, I see old rotting mushroom growth. Extremely disappointed! I follow the directions and after several days, there is still no growth, no pinning, nothing.

So 3 out of 4 mushroom grow kits from this company have failed. I don’t necessarily think that the product is bad from this company, I think the 2nd hand seller are not keeping the kits at cool enough storage and by the time they are making it to the consumer, they’re already spoiled with rotting mushroom growth.

This is something Back to the Roots needs to address with sellers like Target and Amazon. My kit from Walmart was the only one that gave me a flush of mushrooms. I have used grow kits from other sellers with much better results.

Overall, the product might be okay for kids but if you’re wanting to get into mushroom growing as a hobby, the results from these kits may likely be discouraging. So, no I can not recommend these. I really wanted to like this product but I don’t.

If you buy a kit, open the box in the store and make sure there is no soggy old growth on the substrate. You should only see a block of compressed sawdust that is white with mycelium. If you see a blob of soggy growth and a yellow or tea colored liquid all over inside the bag, don’t buy it.

You have to try these! The instructions were really easy to follow and getting these started was a breeze. Then we just had to sit and wait. It didn’t take as long as we thought to start seeing growth from them.

It was interesting watching them go through the process of growing since it’s not something you normally get to see. When they were big enough to start cutting and eating we thought hese fresh mushrooms tasted way better than store bought.

I’m not going to mark them down for it, but I wish we could grow more. The instructions included how to cut and continue growing more, but it never did reproduce. When I contacted the company to see why they were very nice but explained that sometimes it can and sometimes it can’t and they only gaurentee one growth cycle.

There was nothing we could do to make it grow more.

My kit was actually missing directions and the little spray bottle which was disappointint. I am on the 7th day and unable to stand the box upright yet because the water leaks everywhere. I don’t believe these are normal issues and am willing to overloom it because the kit is growing some amazing mushrooms.

The directions can be found on their website and have better video directions than any paper directions would be. It is soo much fun to watch them grow. They are dense and there is a lot of them growing.

I have never eaten an oyster mushroom but am looking forward to it in a couple more days or so. I highly recommend this kit to grow some mushrooms.

So many 1 stars and 5 stars. How can that be? It’s the all or nothing aspect of starting and keeping a fire going. Some can do it, some can’t. Why? Because too many people don’t know how to burn Bio Blocks.

They are a heavy, dense wood product made of compressed saw dust and nothing more. As such they don’t have any sharp edges or air pocket like real firewood has. They are the equivalent of a carved piece of hard wood as opposed to a rough split log.

They look easy to light because they’re small, but it takes lots of sustained high temperature heat directly on the blocks to get them lighted. If you think some rolled up papers and a few sticks are going to do it you’ll be unsuccessful.

Wax starter blocks or fat wood and lots of kindling are item your going to have to use. Once you get the block burning, and I mean really burning, you’ll understand the 5 star reviews. They’re long burning, very hot, and put out very little smoke.

If your not getting those results, we’ll, your not doing it right. It’s operator error, not an inferior product. So take others comments on how to start the blocks on fire and do what they say. If you’re an impatient type that want a quick and easy wax log fire, please don’t buy Bio Blocks!.

Tried this for the first time. Followed the easy, straightforward directions and it was a complete failure. The first time lighting the package, only burnt the package off the log and didn’t even start the log itself.

Tried three more times with paper and kindling, with only a small corner of the log burning for a short time and going out. This took over 2hrs. Gave up for the night. Next morning I saw it crumbled a little bit in the one corner so I broke it into smaller pieces.

Got that lit the first time, but it just didn’t burn hot enough. Tiny little flame for about 2hrs with only half the log burnt. I thought it went out, so I gave up, but it had started smoldering. Didnt realize for about an hour until it started to smell, and my god it was horrible.

I opened the fireplace doors to try and put it out. But because there was no heat to carry the smoke up, it all flooded into my house and nearly chocked my out. As soon as I touched it to disperse the ashes, it made it worse! I had to shovel half a smoldering log into a bucket and out the door.

My house stank so bad I had every door and window open for an hour in the frigid cold and my house still stinks horribly. Never again with this product. My chimney is pretty clean and I thought this might be preventative maintenance, but it made it worse.

It’s done more harm than good.

These work very well. I was skeptical, and also did some research on how to burn the log. I didn’t like the videos I found, because they were not burning well and I just don’t think the people knew what they were doing.

I did find this one how to video for another product, and he knew what he was doing. I burn fires alot in the winter, so I made sure to have a fire several days in a row. Then on the night I used the log, I got a nice size fire rolling for about a half hr.

Then I threw the log in, box and all. I did open the ends of the box tho. I let it burn for the next hr to hr and a half. I stoked it a few times. The next day I woke up and the wasn’t any weird scents coming from the fireplace anymore.

I can’t wait to use the product again.

Horrible product!! Would not stay lit no matter what I did!! Says it works like any other fire log but it doesn’t!! When I finally got it burning (by doing the exact opposite of what the instructions say) it made some heat, but not sure it helped at all.

Instructions are vauge and only cover use in a fireplace, but says can be used in a wood burner.

Paul Stamets provides in depth sections on everything from permaculture methods, best types of substrate to use, descriptions including current research of popular medicinal mushrooms, and mycoremediation.

For anyone interested in mycology, mushrooms and cultivation there is an immense amount of tips and tricks in this book to get you started growing or expand your current operation.

Paul Stamits is the godfather of mycology. This was his first book, from the most experienced person in mycology at the time. He has yet to be surpassed in the field. This book covers many species and how to cultivate them.

Stamits has experience cultivating all of these species and is forthcoming with tips and tricks. It is an excellent reference, which I have consulted many times as I organize various mushroom species in my garden.

I would recommend it.

This book has very detailed information that would be invaluable for someone who is setting up a large scale commercial gourmet mushroom growing operation. The level of information is thorough, detailed, and so specific that it is a great resource for those type of users.

However, for someone who intends to grow mushrooms on a small scale at home, it is overkill. It is not an easy read to get the information you need in an quick, efficient way. I will use this book as a reference, but I will find another source for the information I need to set up my small scale home mushroom growing operation.

Oh, ~ so many options to this gardening curiosity. Compelling enough for me to cut down a tree, drill holes in the logs, plug, ‘wax’ and now wait for nine months for my first Shiitake mushrooms. With crossed fingers, I continue reading this fun to flip pages of so many alternatives for both amateur and professionals alike venturing into the world of mushrooms.

Wonderful book, valuable resource. I first came across it at my library; then realized I had to have a copy to use as a reference. This text is right up there with Paul Stamet’s books. Even if you don’t plan to grow mushrooms, this book gives the reader a fascinating glimpse into a major part of our biosphere; one that is intimately enmeshed with and essential for all other life.

This is the best new book on growing mushrooms. It includes both high and low tech instructions for growing mushrooms. Very thorough, and much better than older “classic” books. I don’t think you will disappointed after purchasing this book.

As a lover of nice big fire, I of course have run into one of the primary concerns being how quickly I can get my fire started and burning nice and hot, especially in the Michigan winter months. I have tried many different fire starters, kindling and logs to accomplish my task and found each to have a unique set of frustrations.

This particular log however was one of the easier ones to use and really got my fire going. This log catches easily after lighting the paper and burns long and consistent at the core of a fire. I was able to have my fire up and burning hot enough to sit outside in December without suffering frostbite, so I can definitively say this is an absolute go to on my list of necessities for bonfires and camping.

Overall the log is easy starting, catches quick and produces good light and heat, it has a nice burn time for my use (about 3 hours for me), it doesn’t produce any chemical smell as I have seen with other logs and when burnt with your favorite wood, it wont overpower the smell of the burning wood.

This is a great value comparative to other logs and I will be keeping them on hand for all my future fires.

The Pine Mountain Quantum Firelog was easy to light and it stay lit at the first attempt. We used the firelog in our indoor fireplace and our log lasted around 3 hours, which is over the listed 2. 5 hours.

I was surprised at how much easier clean-up was after using the firelog versus the messy ash and debris clean-up from burning wood. The brightness level is satisfactory and the log definitely smells cleaner than wood or other logs when it is burned indoors, but the amount of heat projected falls short compared to a traditional wood fire.

I am very pleased with this product. This product would be ideal for those looking for a cleaner burning solution, quicker clean-up, or those wanting the visual effect of a fire.

I liked this firelog to start my fires very quickly. I have abundent of wood in the backyard with lot of trees and branches falling each year. But it’s always a hassle to quick start the fire. But with the Pine Mountain firelogs, I am able to quickly start my fire, and the log burns for a while good 2-3 hours with good amount of heat.

I also then towards the end, add my regular other wood to get them start burning quickly and keep the heat going for a while. Price is also reasonable compared to other brands. no complaints.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. Received this in the mail about a week ago and finally had the chance to use it last night since the temperature was a little chilly.

We put it under some sticks from around the yard to get them to burn. I am never too fond of these as some burn as long as stayed and many do not. This one said 3 hours. I didn’t time it exactly three hours, but after two and a half hours, it was still going and we were all inside after the three hour mark hit so I can’t be total certain.

It wasn’t a strong pine smell, but it was not a chemical smell either. It did take a little while for it to get going, but once it did, it had no problem catching the other sticks on fire. I don’t know if the price is justified, as I have used cheaper ones that worked just as well.

But maybe the lack of chemical smell is worth it. I will try these again in the future as so far I have had no bad experience with this brand.

This java log lit easily and quickly became an intense, bright, warm burn. However, that only lasted about 20-30 minutes and then the flames became tiny and dull and the heat was reduced to nothing. The remainder of the burn was like this, as if it was a dying flame.

To add insult to injury, it only burned for just under 2. 5 hours. We started it early to see it through to hopefully the full 4 hours (give or take) but ended up with a dull flame that fizzled out before the night really got started.

So incredibly disappointing for a log that is in the higher price range.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. The log smells like a chocolatey coffee explosion. It definitely gives off the aroma of a dark roast brewing. In my opinion, it does not start as easy as Dura-flame logs.

Once we got it going, though it did burn for a long time! I really did enjoy the smell though and it did eventually get the other wood burning.

The logs were adequate. Some of the outside bark was peeling off and yellowed which made it appear as though it were a faux finish. The authentic look I had expected was somewhat lacking, for the price I expected a better quality.

I was sitting my outside the fireplace in an oil rubbed bronze basket. So, I made sure to position the 2 lesser quality logs in the back away from viewing.

These logs are fantastic! They are substantial, clean, and look better than I even imagined they would! They stacked beautifully and add to the updated look of my fireplace.

Needed for a small Fire Place Mantel Surround that has a beautiful Branches with Candles insert. The logs are placed in front to hide the base and fill the 6 inch gap from floor to where branches begin.

It is exactly what I was looking for. Perfect decorative logs that enhance and complete the entire Fireplace.

I bought this for my chef husband. We are really excited to get this going. Upon opening the box I realized there is no explanation of what it was or how to use it. If I had shipped this to a friend they would be like, “Thanks for the firewood.

” I did receive an email with detailed instructions on how to use it, but I think it would be useful to at least leave a QR code inside for the gift receiver to be able to look up the information themselves.

My partner loves this gift – it was completely unexpected and one of the favorite things ever received. We love mushrooms at all meals and this grants him some investment in the recipes. Really clever item.

I gave this as a Secret Santa Gift to my brother-in-law. He likes to cook and garden. I wanted to get him a gift that he would enjoy, but not have already bought for himself. When he opened the gift, he freaked out and said, “Yes! This is why I don’t put anything on my wish list!”.

I wanted to love this. I grow mushrooms all the time, and this seemed like a fun, easy way to get my nephew into gardening a little. But it was a bust. I purchased a test kit to try out before gifting him one, and I’m glad I did.

There were full grown and dried mushrooms in the box outside of the substrate, not a great sign but not necessarily a problem, so I soaked it and cared for it according to the directions (which were simple and clear enough that I think kids could follow them,) and a few pinned but only a sparse scattering that didn’t mature.

Since in theory it’s a two crop box I opened the other side and tried again, with the same extremely disappointing results. Maybe the kit I got was really old, but I’d guess it’s more likely that these are produced in batches large enough that the occasional kit with poorly distributed spores makes it out into the world.

For that reason I’m giving two stars even though I got zero mushrooms out of it. Oysters are easy to grow typically, (I have 3 other varieties going currently) and impressive, so I can imagine the successful kits are a lot of fun.

It’s a great idea. It’s just a bummer to get a dud, so I’ll figure something else out for the kid but I wouldn’t steer anyone away from this product if they wanted to give it a try.

These are excellent quality mushrooms and I love the convenience of using them dried since I can pull them out of the cupboard whever I need them. I usually use them in a miso soup and they completely transform the soup into a much more complex tasting dish.

Plus I know I’m getting all the properties of a super food in this little package. I also enjoy Eden’s Maitake mushrooms.

Use these lil beauties in all my soups for a A great flavor base. Made a rich pea soup without meat by just cooking 3 of these in the soup and chopping when soft. I discard stems as too tough.

These logs are great! Love the burn time and the heat they emit. Perfect when you want to build a quick fire and easy to use. The package comes with fatwood, plus I like to use a small all natural pod starter as well.

Once lit, they burn great and make a perfect fire. I enjoy the all natural aspect of these logs, the low ash and smoke free features. They are packaged nicely and easy to carry. Will buy again.

We had underestimated how much wood we would need for our ski place. In an attempt to shore up our supply, we bought several packs of the Green Mountain Firewood. We were so impressed with how easy it was to start, how much more heat it gave off than the kiln dried wood we had, and how neatly it burned.

We will definitely be stocking up on more.

We love these mushrooms and have been buying them for many years. Easy storage makes it available for a number of cooking recipes. We keep a case from BJ’s on hand all the time. In fact last night my wife made dinner with them added to lemon chicken and pasta.

These are my go to mushrooms. I use them often in tuna casserole, omelets, pizza, and more. They are tasty and they are beautiful looking mushrooms. Highly recommend this brand.

While not as tasty as fresh mushrooms, or baby Bella’s, these are useful. The amount of mushrooms per can is of good value, despite the water in them. Recommended using with butter on a fry pan, salt and pepper.

I purchased this particular csl only because the duraflame csl was out of stock. I should of known why there was an abundance of the Pine Mountain creosote buster csl’s on the shelves and no other csl products! My fireplace has been burning since mid November since my chimney has been swept.

I had no open flame just days worth of glowing hot coals not 30 minutes worth as directed, tossed csl still in the paper as directed, closed the insert door as directed, opened flue all the way as directed.

Five hours later this product has only smoldered the entire time. Every other csl has burned in approximately 90 minutes to completion. Twelve hours later this product is a little more than halfway completely burned and out completely! I’m if maybe the one I purchased was a dud or if I should of just tossed $15 cash into my fireplace.

Waste of money!.

Great! But you must make sure that the fire is super hot and burning a lot BEFORE you try to burn it. You may have to poke it to keep it burning. It is hallow. It worked great and after I used it, a lot less smoke and cleaner fires.

These logs are good. They are smaller than original creosote logs for chimney in houses but they are mighty. We buy burn them diligently to help our outside wood burner.

I carried this pack of four logs up a mountain last night to have a fire while camping. I followed the instructions exactly for 3 of the logs and it would not catch, even though it was not raining or windy and the logs and fire pit were completely dry.

The wrapping would burn but the log itself wouldn’t stay lit, so I just had a bare log that smoked continually without maintaining a flame independently. I even tried holding it on top of a direct flame from my camping stove for a full 5 minutes – it still wouldn’t catch.

We gave up and built a fire with leaves and branches in the area (which worked better than these logs). Once we had a sizeable fire, I put one of these logs in it, and somehow it finally burned. Went through all 4 logs in about 6 hours, and I thought they burned decently well.

So if you’re gonna buy these, make sure you start the fire with starter and real wood first. Not sure why, but they don’t catch the way they’re supposed to and don’t burn for as long as they’re supposed to (to keep a decent sized fire).

I bought a box of these in anticipation of a crackling fire during the Christmas season. The first log was not only completely silent, it went out after the paper wrapper finished burning! I had to re-light it by stuffing gift wrap under it until it finally caught fire.

Same thing with the 2nd log, dead silence, only this one stayed lit at least. I’m not talking faint or subtle crackles either, these things are mute. Not impressed.

These logs are super convenient and easy to use. You leave the log in the bag and just light it. They burn clean and the crackle logs sound like real wood. Don’t get me wrong…real wood is lovely but there are definite cons to using it like having to dry it out, bugs and the mess.

Highly recommend Duraflame logs if you want the ease and convenience with the sound of a beautiful fire crackling away. These also last for a few hours!.

Purchased to create a calm, relaxing atmosphere around the fireplace with the family for a special occasion and these worked perfectly. If you’re looking for a fire burning longer than a couple of hours, at most, then these are NOT the logs for you.

They worked exactly as described, they produce a nice flame that spreads evenly the length of the log, without the fear of embers popping out of the fireplace or having to use a poker to keep it going.

just get to sit back and enjoy the view. I would definitely purchase again!!.

I purchased this kidney liquid gold for my dog Lucas back in February. Lucas had stage 2 kidney disease and was diagnosed in October he would be healthy for a month and then have really almost end of life moments for about 5 days so we would try pedialyte, probiotics appetite stimulants because he wouldn’t want to eat and was really depressed he was urinating and Drinking a lot of water so I was extremely attentive of him and then he would bounce back about a week later.

Lucas also had heart disease and had been taking medication for about almost 2 years. My Lucas was 17 years old and the last 6 months were a roller coaster with his health but he kept fighting he was so strong and I kept helping him with everything from medication to food and anything he wanted or needed to be comfortable.

When I recieve the liquid gold Lucas was having a terrible week, he was eating small bits of food a day he wasn’t drinking alot of water anymore and he was completely refusing his medicine we had to shove it in his mouth but he was refusing to continue to live.

I knew his kidney disease had progressed but it was in a matter of 2 weeks that Lucas lost all his weight and then the last 5 days he refused everything I even had to feed him with a syringe some soup of chicken I had made to get something in his belly.

I bought the drops I payed expedited shipping and gave him the drops for about 2 days after reading such amazing reviews and similar symptoms other pets were experiencing. Previous to buying the drops I had controlled and changed his meals and just took his health day by day to make him as happy and comfortable as I could because I knew my time with Lucas was nearing.

At this point his kidney disease and heart failure had reached its limit and my Lucas was just really tired and old. Lucas passed on 2/20/2022 he barked randomly all night and we went to him every single time to give him love and attention.

He took one deep breath in my sisters arms at 7:35 am and his beautiful soul left his sick and tired body. ❤️ What comes after this is the reason why I am mainly writing this review, as I didn’t get to truly experience the liquid gold I’m sure it would’ve worked if I found it sooner or his kidney disease didn’t progress so fast but I have to understand that Lucas was 17 and he fought so hard every time on his own to continue living watching him loose his eyesight amongst many other things and still being brave to continue his daily routine was something I will never forget and truly amazing to witness and be part of loving someone so much.

I eventually reached out to customer care to see if I could return the product to them because I didn’t want it to go to waste and truly rather have another pet use it since it was basically brand new.

I explained to them what had happened and they told me they would process a refund and I didn’t have to return it to them. This was so kind of them and I thanked them because they really didn’t have to do this but it goes to show what kind of ethics they have within their company.

About 2 weeks later I just received a beautiful card from pet well being about my loss and it really made me feel so special and truly the best customer experience I’ve ever received. I just want to say thank you! Loosing Lucas has been really hard but watching him suffer and be so not himself anymore was definitely harder to watch and for my angel to go through that it wasn’t fair to him he was the best companion and friend in my life.

He will always be and he is missed every day my house is so lonely and quiet. Lucas is now with my dad and his cousin oso who passed when he was 13. I know my Lucas is happy and young again❤️ Thank you again at everyone at pet well-being!!.

My female started “snorting/snoring ” noises since we moved into a new home and area. She’s always has a slight nasal sound when she sniffed things when we first adopted her at age two but it was getting worst.

It was so loud that some nights when she came into the bedroom I could her her sitting at the door of the room!!!! The Vet had thought it was asthma at first, and asked why it wasn’t in her records from her previous Vet, well because she didn’t have asthmas that’s why ,and I I kept telling him it was a nasal sound, finally on her last visit he heard hear snorting/snoring and admitted it was a nasal issue and not a lung issue.

I had also gotten a newsletter from one of my cat magazines that mentioned sometimes “snoring” wasn’t just snoring but either a nasal polyp or swollen/mucus from allergies, which I had told him from the beginning months and months ago.

It was NOT a wheezing from her chest but a snoring from her nose as I kept trying to tell him which is my my last Vet didn’t have it in her records that were sent to the new clinic. I had been with my previous Vet over 20 years and trusted her.

The Vet had put her on Antibiotics and Steroids twice and it worked but as he said she can’t keep doing that as it can lead to pancreatitis and diabetes, neither do I want. but it was painful to listen to her nasal sounds.

I would find the injections would wear off in about a month and a half. I was praying it wasn’t a polyp as those need invasive surgery but it responded to the Vet’s injections so I figured it was more a mucus issue that a polyp issue thankfully.

I saw an ad for Nettel-Brightright in one of my Petwellbeing news letters as I had signed up when the Vet said he thought it was asthma so I had tried the throat and lung drops, but it wasn’t clearing up, and figured I had nothing to lose, Finally her snorting/snoring has become so much less as I continue to give her the Nettle-Eyebright Gold drops and most days nothing at all, I’m hoping it will continue long after her last injection wear off as I do not want her getting Pancreatitis.

The Vet and I are still trying to figure out what she might be having an allergic reactions to, he even suggested having the home’s ducts cleaned which we did it helped a bit but not as much as we’d hoped.

We figure there must be different pollens in the new location that we didn’t have at the last one and we plan to have the carpets cleaned in the spring when we can take them to the RV while it’s being done.

I am just grateful I have found something to help her and won’t have to risk her health with more steroid shots and the allergy medications I have read up on have some very serious side effects, so I want to avoid them if possible too.

our beloved 13-year-old longhair developed megacolon 6 months ago. she had a 5-day hospital stay, we nearly lost her, it was awful. it’s been a very tricky and emotional time trying to medically manage her and she just hasn’t been herself.

I’ve been trying to find the magical combination of meds and supplements for her, it’s a long road but adding this product has brought noticeable relief. We’ve tried miralax, different types of fiber, lactulose, probiotics, CBD, prescription fiber foods.

we’ve tried everything for her. Cisapride and psyllium has helped the most along with the probiotics and CBD, but I suspect the prescribed cisapride gives her stomach cramps and psyllium makes her bloated and she stops eating after having a very tiny amount for a few days.

She is VERY finicky and picky and there is no way to manually medicate her without us both hating each other, so this product was tricky to get into her at first. I initially gave up, but got creative in the last few weeks.

and I’ve seen such a great change in her since. the two big things is that she’s eating more and sleeping more comfortably, and I believe this is helping her colon health in general. I write a long review because navigating her condition has been so frustrating and I hope to just be able to help someone else that is reading.

to give the drops to her, I fill two #5 gelatin capsules (3 drops each), split a pill pocket in half and wrap up the capsules. I THEN roll the treats in nutritional yeast to make them irresistible for her, she won’t really go for the pill pockets on their own.

I’ve been able to give them to her every day for almost 3 weeks! what I noticed is that it keeps her colon lubricated, and her poop is wetter on the outside. it doesn’t help with the actual stool softness, so her stool is still on the hard side and I am working on that.

I have a feeling that she is tolerating psyllium better when paired with these drops, but time will tell. If your kitty is beside herself because of constipation, this is really worth a try! this won’t be a complete solution for megacolon but is great when paired with other remedies.

My mom is on a restricted diet and apparently oyster mushrooms are allowed. I could not find fresh in my area. Thank goodness Spice Jungle had the dried. I froze the batch I received so I can take out and use only as much as needed.

I rehydrated a handful of the frozen dried mushrooms in hot water. Diced and tossed them with some garlic ghee with about a pound of sliced new potatoes. Roasted the whole thing in a 425ª F oven until carmelized.

So good. The mushrooms had a wonderful flavor/texture and took on a garlicky/onion flavor from the ghee. The oyster mushrooms were so wonderful with the roasted potatoes. I will be keeping this a staple in my kitchen.

I find the texture of the oyster mushrooms to be tough and the flavor slightly inferior. I used them in an old Slovakian mushroom gravy called Machonka with sauerkraut juice. I’ll try soaking the rest longer, although I’m pretty sure I soaked and cooked them adequately.

I had never bought dried mushrooms before and it’s possible I did something wrong in the re-hydration process, but they were sort of “chewy” and I probably won’t ever use anything but fresh from now on.

But the flavors were good!.

Can’t find details to contact the seller privately, so here it is. Nice packaging, easy and clear instructions to follow. Although there was no x on the pack as described. Shame that even after following the instructions all that grew was a green mould.

Will keep ‘watering’ it for another week but doubt anything will grow. Was it a faulty batch? Very Dissaponting.
