14 Best Locking Sand For Pavers (2023 Updated)

It was not good. Paver sand was used as first time application for newly applied pavers. Followed application directions but experienced severe clouding of pavers after drying plus some streaking. The paver sand between the pavers appeared strong however.

To our surprise it required a second complete power washing which eliminated some, but not all of the clouding and left all of the streaking. It plus some of the paver sand between the pavers. We now need to do a third power washing which may or may not completely work, plus manually apply more paver sand in that lost from the second power washing.

It has now become a very expensive and time consuming effort. I can’t imagine going back to this product again. After 24.

This is a wonderful product, BUT. the color is way off. I ordered Camel and it was much lighter than expected but fortunately it looked nice. I felt the bag was mistakenly mismarked and that it contained light beige rather than Camel (yes it was that light).

The company was wonderful and offered me a 15% discount on my next purchase. I still needed to finish my project so in accordance with the color chart and what I already had between the pavers, the most accurate choice to make was the Ivory, because on the color chart it shows as a beige color.

Unfortunately the Ivory turned out to be a bright white and I had to then buy a concrete stain to darken it to beige to match what I first put in. So my conclusion is, this is absolutely wonderful product but their color chart is way off and it’s very easy to make a mistake when ordering, so please be aware.

If they make their color chart more accurate, I would give it 5 stars.

I recently added Dominator polymeric sand and LG+ sealer. I am a novice and found the products easy to apply and my 5 gallons would have gone the 2000sq feet. It is just a labor intensive and time consuming process.

Sealer was sprayed with simple household sprayer and lightly backrolled. Watering the sand was most challenging. Too much or little water and it will not cure right and I had some movement of the sand due water runoff so some think areas and others thin.

Its been a week since completion and I now hope the product holds up the five years. My rating is based on product application not on product quality over time. Protect your home, grass, sidewalk. The pre-work power-washing, and adding paper and masking tape took most of the time.

That and sweeping the sand into the grooves. So far I recommend. Hope I can do same in 5 years. I only needed 1 bucket of sand but opened both so I can not return – that is a waste of my money.

They look great for price! It is plastic and they snap together. I covered my entire deck with them and put outdoor seatings all around deck with side tables and I’m very pleased. Weather hasn’t hurt or faded in very hot sun.

Paid too much elsewhere, so I’m waiting for restocking here to put in yard under patio tables and chairs for comfort and bugs. I did use glue thru each strip so I can pick up in one piece and hang them on wall hooks in garage off season.

I like them enough to wait to purchase more. Looks great also.

I put 2 cases together in an area for temporary use of our firepit. I have gotten compliments on how they look and enhance the look of my firepit.

Product has performed exactly as advertised. The 1st application dried so quickly that I was able start the second coat immediately after finishing the 1st. The pavers have a very nice clean semi-gloss appearance.

I used six 1-gal bottles to apply 2 sealant coats to a 600’sq patio. I’d buy this product again, the next time I have to power wash my patio.

Used this epoxy sealant for my driveway. It solidified the polymeric sand and sealed the pavers leaving a satin finish. Hope it lasts…

I applied 2 coat 4″ brush application to 31 year old 16′ x 16′ brick patio paving stones, they have never been sealed before, they now look like new. Great Product. Used a brush instead of a tank sprayer, less waste of product by brushing.

This sand is very fine, smooth, and soft. I have purchased 25 lbs of this sand for various projects, and It works for me every time, I love it!

I ordered this and had it delivered really wish I hadn’t done that. Once it got here I realized how hard it was for them to ship it. Absolutely, not problems with the product.

Initially, I failed to purchase this product at the Sauve Street outlet (Montreal) because they had none “in stock”. I had to settle with a local brand of “Kiln Dried Sand” by A. Boudrias Inc. and thought that I had scored a real deal because the Home Depot site listed it a only $3.

00, which was cheaper than the Quikrete Sand listed at $6. 85! However, I inexplicably needed to pay $9. 18, at the cash for the A. Boudrias stuff! I bought it anyway and came home, opened the well-sealed bag of this A.

Boudrias, so-called “Kiln-Dried” crap, and discovered that it was soaking wet and it must have contained at least 5% to 10% water! They must have mistakingly placed the sand in a sauna and not a kiln.

The next day I was able to find the Quikrete sand at HomeDepot’s St. Henri outlet and was delighted with the quality of their sand! Super Fine Grain & Very Dry!!! Great buy!.

We used this sand to fill in our offset patio umbrella base. The sand itself was quite sandy. Small, dry, coarse … a lot like sand. Not suitable for consumption (learned that the hard way).

Amazing Sand for the SandBox! It is the color of Ft. Lauderdale beach sand but Really soft. It’s great for making sand castles or digging. My son loves it. It’s a really great price. It’s a better price then most others and a better quality product as well.

Very disappointed. This is nothing like sand, it’s finely crushed gravel, the dust is not good for kids to breath in. Do not buy this sand. Literally scraped my own knuckles on the grounded rocks hu just running my hand through it.

Brought sand for childs sand box was more than enough. So much it was on my front porch. So I had needed an exfoliation I had some dead skin and was treating it with aquaphor and went on porch the wind blew sand right to my face and I rub it and it helped clear my face.

I had no irritation from it. But don’t go slathering it on you face unless an adult lol.

Liked these bags for filling a kid’s sandbox so that we could have nice clean sand. Needed 40 of these 50-lb bags to fill our 6×6 sandbox which is about 9 in deep, so took two runs to farm & fleet but the guys in the yard were great at helping me load them in the truck bed.

Sand seems really soft and good for packing. Only downfall is all the garbage from 40 of these empty bags.

We bought some of this sand for our kids new sandbox. My son was wearing jeans while he played in it and my daughter hand on leggings. His pants were fine- I could brush the sand right off of his jeans.

My daughters leggings, however, were horribly stained. I guess we’ll have to have “Sandbox clothes” that they only wear when they are out there.

In the process of adding a patio, I came across this product. We just installed it and we don’t know how it’s gonna look like a couple of years from now but it cut our workload considerably. We didn’t have to buy and move tones of gravels but just these super lightweight panels.

Fits easily, cuts easily and makes the work more enjoyable. Also you don’t have to dig lots of earth. We finished our 10×12 patio in a couple of hours.

I live in a townhouse with no backyard access (other than through the house), so I used these to spare myself having to get all the limestone screening and sand into the backyard. these made my life so much easier! Once you have leveled the dirt, you simply need to lay down 1/2″ of sand and then throw these over top.

For the sand, I recommend using kiln dried all-purpose sand as it is less prone to freeze/thaw cycles due to the reduced moisture content in the sand. These are very light and in only a few hours my 140 sq ft walkway was ready for pavers.

Bought this for filling the base on our portable basketball hoop, as it’s a very good price. Nearly half the price of tube sand. Was 32 degrees out when I picked it up, so the sand was still pliable.

Any colder though and it would have been frozen. Even with sealed plastic bags it was damp sand, so I can only assume that it was packaged that way. Makes it a little difficult to fill through a 2-inch hole due to it clumping.

Would prefer it dry.

The sand worked great for what I needed it for. But it is not 60lb bags as they stated. I bought 6 bags they varied between 26 and 35lbs. For the price that’s not my complaint. The time for me to go back and get 4 more bags to complete the task I needed them for is my issue.

Overall it’s worth it just get more than you think you need.

I bought this sand for my daughters sandbox and every bag was wet when we picked it up. It took several days to dry out and when it did, the sand became clumpy and GRAY! I took a bucket of the sand and put water in it and it is so dirty! I’m going to have to take all the sand out, wash it, let it dry and then refill her box.

Best tube sand I ever did buy. The traction with these bad boys vs literally anything else of the same weight is lightyears difference. This is the most beautiful and fine tube sand money can buy. Mined from the most quality of sand dunes in the area, highly recommend.

Let me tell you, that bag was HEAVY! Worked for what I need it for. Was sand. what can I say. A little more of a grainy bigger chunk sand. not like beach or sandbox sand. I was using it to fill something that needed weight.

Like I said, worked for me.

Big help in the empty truck bed aiding traction in Wisconsin winters. Whatever the packaging material is made of doesn’t allow the tubes to slide all over tbe place.

By far the best sand for spreading on ice covered walkways and driveways; bare none. The bag is easy open and resealable to use what you need and ready for next time. Just wished they would sell it also in a smaller weight; bucket maybe.

Keep it warm inside before use and it sticks to ice like dry glue. Not a ” play sand” and not recommended to be used as ” a play sand. “.

We put a mailbox post in a garbage can and poured in 3 bags of tube sand. Then I thought “oh no!” will it turn into concrete when wet? I called Nelson’s and was assured that Quikrete was just the brand name.

Tube sand is just sand. What a relief! 🙂 BTW, note the warning on the package (i. e. , wear eye protection and use a NIOSH respirator mask) if you open the package and have direct contact with the sand.

I wish they lined these bags with plastic or wax or something because they’re so cheap they’re literally as thin as a lunch paper bag. Once you put it in your car truck whatever you’re going to have cement powder everywhere if you accidentally hit it then it leaks cement everywhere.

I was in the middle of my project but it was going to rain so I covered the bags outside with the cement pan mixing tray and the next day the cement was already hardened the rain must have splashed underneath and got somehow into the cement bags again if they were lined with wax or plastic the water wouldn’t be absorbed so easily.

Otherwise this product is super easy to use.

I use this cement for all my fencing needs. The general rule is 2 bags for 3 holes. (The holes are 7 inches wide and 24 inches deep, the post used is 2-3/8 inches outer diameter). Never fill a hole all the way up with concrete when setting your posts, fill hole 4 inches from top of soil.

Doing this doesn’t allow the post to be “pushed” out of the ground over the years which makes the fence lean over.
