A lock miter router bit is a tool used to cut a variety of different materials. It can be used to cut wood, plastic, metal, and even stone. The bit is designed to create a clean, precise, and consistent cut.
The router bit can be used to create a variety of different shapes and sizes. It is a versatile tool that can be used for a variety of different projects.
The Freud 2-3/4-inch lock miter bit produces locking miter joints in a snap. Ideal for humidors and jewelry boxes, this bit allows you to run one board vertically and run the piece to be joined horizontally.
This precision-ground carbide bit is made with added titanium, making it virtually impervious to chemical attack. The bit is computer balanced to ensure vibration-free operation at speeds that are a safe margin above the typical 22,000 rpm of most routers.
For use on CNC and other automatic routers as well as hand-held and table-mounted portable routers, this bit cuts all composition materials, plywood, hardwood, and soft wood. The overall diameter of the bit is 2-3/4-inch; the shank diameter is 1/2-inch.
Recently purchased the larger version of the bit to build some box newelposts out of three-quarter inch quartersawn white oak. Setting the bit up to the right height and getting the fence the right distance took quite some time, and I burnt through a lot of practice stock to get it dialed in but once dialed in the miters fit together perfectly.
I would suggest to have your boards as perfectly flat as possible (as with any routing work) and if you don’t own a jointer probably best to pay to have somebody surface your boards. Make sure that when you are planing all your material to your desired thickness that you also do so to quite a bit of test material.
Even on my second run using a different thickness I probably had to make about 12 test cuts so plan ahead. I used this on a router table mounted as a tablesaw extension. The Instructions included or not very helpful, check out the instructions for the similar rockler bit online as that is what I ultimately used to help dial it in.
This bit was more than I expected. Good quality and good fit. It took me about 15 minutes to set it up even without a template. I did run a couple pieces of oak through it and saved those back for my set up jigs.
Recommend this bit for anyone who needs a miter lock.
The Lock Miter Bit works well. It does take a little time to get it set properly. There were no directions on set up, this would be helpful. I do like the joint it makes.
Use the reversible 45 lock miter glue joint router bit to join boards at 90. The interlocking 45 cuts will produce extremely strong joints without having to struggle to keep the boards in place during clamping.
Additionally, it will provide extra gluing surface resulting in an extremely strong and durable joint. It can be little tricky at first but when positioned properly, the bit will cut both pieces of stock without having to adjust the bit.
Align the center of the cutter with the center of the stock when the stock is in the horizontal position and in the vertical position. Then, cut one piece horizontally and the second one vertically and the joint should line up perfectly.
Instructions are available from the manufacturer upon request.
The bit worked very good for my project with plywood. However, it worked even better when I compared it’s performance on solid wood. Proper set-up (which takes some time) is key for both materials. A set up jig might have made the set up process faster/better.
I bought the cheaper competitors bit before this one. I couldnt get a good joint. But this bit worked great right out of the package the very first time. Worth the extra money. If your on a budget Yonico bits are a great value for the money and way cheaper than Rockler.
The bit tore and burned on cross grain cuts. I was cutting white oak, but the performance of the bit was disappointing. It was useless for the work I purchased it for.

I’m very happy with this bit. It runs very smoothly in my table ( solid, cast-iron top and good fence ). I’d recommend the woodsmith review article (and a youtube video that turned me onto the bit), because the bit doesn’t come with good instructions.
For example, the bit height graphic gave the wrong height dimension ( I think). set up took only a few tries for heigand for the fence settings. Save some scrap pieces for setup Glue-up went well – I was working with a maple plywood, and made sure to spread glue evenly over each side.
Little squeeze-out and clean, strong joint as a result. Very little wear on the bit, should last a long time.
Guys, Tools Plus gets a five star rating as well for having a very comprehensive stock of specialized router bits at good prices and fast delivery. This bit performed very well on hard maple. Very pleased with this Freud product and Tools Plus.
This bit performed as I expected it to. It was easy to set up and, once tuned in, made cuts resulting in tight joints. Several pending projects, involving the fabrication of a fairly large number of drawers, will now be much easier to do, and will, I believe, have better results.
Diablo’s Panel Pilot Router Bits outlast high-speed steel bits many times before sharpening. The drill through point allows self-starting, and the pilot acts as a guide for template work. Featuring TiCo carbide with titanium, these bits provide a long cutting life and ultra-fine finish.

Attempted to use this to rabbet at maximal depth. Instead of rabbeting the edge, I got a mess about 48″ long that terminated in a totally used up bit. It looks as if the cutting edges are completely gone and the coating is burned off.
Astonishingly bad or incomprehensibly complicated to use.
Needed this bit to complete a piece to match other edges. Worked out perfectly. Pay attention to the measurements of the bit when purchasing so you don’t “under cut” the material to be removed.
K10 and K20 grade carbide for clean cutting action. Final sharpening with 600 – 800 grit diamond wheels. The interlocking fingers of our Lock Miter Router Bit provide a strong mechanical locking action that makes it much easier to clamp.
There is no tendency for the joint to slide out of alignment under clamping pressure, and the wedged tenons tighten up nicely for a strong corner joint. The increased long grain gluing surface also helps to strengthen the joint over a basic rabbet or butt joint.
To machine, run one part resting against the table, and the corresponding part vertically against the fence.
Here is what you need to know; your equipment must be perfectly set up, your wood must be perfectly straight with out any cupping or twist, you must also be an experienced woodworker. I spent the better part of a day attempting to get this bit aligned.
I ran out of scrap pieces and time. I used the alignment tool but that did not help. I have Christmas gifts that need made. Will run to one of the box stores and get a straight 45 degree bit.
First the router bit is well made and deserves 5 stars. I would caution you that this type of glue joint has limitations. Yes, it aligns the corner perfectly if the setup is accurate but remember that end grain to end grain which this configuration provides does not provide a strong glue joint.
The strength of the joint is limited if it is not backed up by a supplementary means.
Route interlocking 45 degree miters on stock between 3/4″ and 1″ thick. This large router bit has a diameter of 2-3/4″ and a 1/2″ shank. Use the reversible 45° lock miter glue joint router bit to join boards at 90°.
The interlocking 45° cuts will produce extremely strong joints without having to struggle to keep the boards in place during clamping.
Note: Lock miter bits only work properly on solid wood.
After experimenting with this bit and being careful with measuring the results were absolutely “spot on”. The cut was sharp and clean every time. I had to adjust the feedthrough rate by telling the operating human-based bi-ped to slow down a little and let the bit do it’s job.
After giving myself a couple of dope smocks the results were excellent.
I enjoyed this concept. I was trying to join an octagon. It did not work. It did set up nicely with a setup block I purchased from rocker for $9. I am unable to use this for what I needed it for. I did try using scraps for a 90 box corner and this worked well.
If you are making square boxes, this it great. If you are trying to join flat, angled pieces, do not try it.
I was a little skiptable at first, but after using it during a project I am totally impressed. All and all it makes the project so much easier to assemble when glueing. I must say, use a scrap stock to set your fence just right.

Simply set the center of the stock to the center of the bit. Then, cut one piece horizontally and the second one vertically. Ideal for use with 3/4″ stock. Two flute carbide cutters & 1/2″ shank.
I was able to use this bit for the first time today in my little woodshop. It made doing 90’s so fast and simple. It really speed up my work and added a quality to my joints that i was missing. I also used it to edge join several boards together and it also was easy and produced a nice strong joint.
I would highly recommend this router bit to anyone! NiteWolfe Creations.
You can spend 2 to 3x the cost for a similar bit and you will not get better performance. The challenge is setting the height and fence to get the proper cut. I found a good article that explained how to do this but you can’t include that in the review—- (dumb because it would help sales) that said there are some good articles that will help in understanding this critical aspect.
Create rock-solid interlocking corner joints with Freud Lock Miter Bits. For 90 degree joints use the 99-034 or 99-035 bits. These bits are designed to rout one piece horizontally on the router table and the other piece standing vertical.
For precise 45 degree joints us the 99-043 set with one bit routing the tongue and the other bit routing the groove. For routing solid hardwood or softwood on table mounted routers or CNC machines only.

Set your router bit to the precise height every time for accurate lock miter joints! Simply bring the router bit up through the table and align the jig with the cutting edge of the bit. Jig works for 3/4″ stock on one side and 5/8″ stock on the other.
Made of durable HDPE and measures 2″ x 3-7/8″ x 3/4″. ,Hardware > Tools,Rockler.
Brother bought me a 45 degree lock miter bit, so I bought this jig to help me set it up on my router table. While this jig is made for the “Rockler Bit” was hoping I could get it close and then be able to make the adjustments.
This does get it close. Just would like to have the jig marked with what side is 3/4″ and which is 5/8′. There are some great YouTube videos on how to set up a lock miter bit helped me a great deal with the fine adjustments that needed to be made.
to really get the fine measurement that needed my next purchase will be the Wixey™ Mini Digital Height Gauge available from Rockler.

The rail and stile door’s joint restricts the amount of profile design that you can cut into the frame, but with miter joint your options are limitless.
This everything I need for a home printer that is used occasionally. Duplex printing, scanner with sheet feeder and a reasonable sized paper tray. It’s compact and I like the way it’s in off-white rather than black like so many printers seem to be these days.
Only complaint is the cost of the printer cartridges.
This a great printer. It’s fast and pretty quiet with very good print quality. Scans are quick and accurate. This by far the best multi-function printer I have

The Dremel 692 Six-Piece Router Bit Set comes with bits made from high-grade steel and packaged in a reusable plastic case. This kit is for use with the 335 plunge router and 231 shaper/router attachments.
This Dremel router bit set is ideal for mortising in wood or other soft materials or for inlaying work. The variety of bit shapes included in this set enhance your accuracy and control while using your router.
These bits are sub par. No bearings, not that sharp out of the package (cause excessive tearout), and lose what edge they have very quickly in hardwood. I am not exactly sure what these bits were designed for, but you should just save yourself some money and buy some cheap 1/4″ shank router bits.
I picked up a set of cheap ones with 20 pieces that were A LOT better than these for $30. If you really need the smaller sizes, you can buy them separately for less than these. So, to summarize, low quality, high price, NOT recommended.
Join boards at a 90 degree angle with an interlocking profile for a perfectly aligning joints. Silver induction brazing for maximum strength and durability. Build-up and Heat Resistant Teflon Coating.
While experimenting with setting up this cutter before committing to several hundred feet of cherry. we tried the bit on some red oak. We ran about 8′ and were making multiple passes when the cutter lost two of the three teeth.
I have sent the pics to Infinity and asked about single pass or multiple pass using this tool. I included some pics of the missing teeth. I was told single pass was correct which is contrary to what it says on the box.
I asked if the cutter was warrantied and received no reply. In fact I sent several emails to infinity and never received a reply. I didn’t want to leave a negative review, However when customer service is non-responsive I felt compelled to do so.
Tools fail, I get that. But to simply ignore a customer, INEXCUSABLE. !.
The jig came ahead of schedule and is well made. One curious thing that the video doesn’t speak to is that the jig protrudes below the bottom of the bit by just about 1/16 inch. One would think that it should be flush.
I have not tried it yet but will very soon so maybe that is built into the physical workings of the jig on the bit. Yet i remain a bit suspicious until I see the results.
This product solves one of the main problems keeping me and I believe many other people from using lock miter joints more. The setup. This intuitive center line jig makes the set up quick and easy allowing you to get more done with great results.
For over 125 years the name “Bosch” has been associated with forward-looking technology and trailblazing inventions that have made history. Bosch does business all over the world and is active in the most wide-ranging sectors.
Here you can find out more about our business sectors and divisions in Germany.
Through experience I have now learned, sets like this are put together without a full range of popular router bits you may require. I have just had to purchase a 1/4 flush trim bit, 25. 4mm long with the bearing guide, this was the only reason I bought the set!! An extra 12 cost for the additional router bit! The set does come along with one type I did require but only with a 13mm cutter in length, simply not long enough to shape a 22mm fence slat.
Extremely poor quality bits with the Bosch logo. The bit got burnt out within minutes of use on 9mm plywood. I used another brand and it cut like a pro.
1/2″ Shank, 2″ Cutter Diameter, 3/4″ Cutter Height, 2-3/8″ Overall Length, 45 degree Angle, For Stock 3/8″ to 3/4″ – Our famous Lock Miter Jr. Router Bit will make super strong boxes and columns between 3/8″ and 3/4″ thick.
This is a well made product n0 doubt. I did have problem with setup as most others have. School is still out on wether it is the go to tool bit when making quarter sawn table legs or the like. I had to use quarter sawn Douglas Fir for this project.
Cutting the profile with the stock flat on the table top works well. Cutting the stock in the vertical position not so fine. Douglas Fir is edge soft and it is hard to preserve that knife edge in the vertical, hence one doesn’t get satisfactory results along the length (rip out).
I had tried table saw ripping at 45 and got better results albeit the narrow stock made for dangerous ripping. Some have advised that you need to adhere a guide fixed to the edge so as to preserve it.
I may try that. You are well advised to use their edge cutting and assembly sequence described in their instructions.
Inspected and happy with item. I have not yet used the bit. I have a big project I will be doing so I am worried that the edge will not hold its cutting strength. Hoping the router bit is better quality than other Infinity products.
I purchased this bit because of special pricing that was offered, but the bait and switch tactics has left me wishing I would have stayed with only Rockler. Based on comments from others they won’t buy from Infinity because of customer service.
I agree the customer service will likely ruin the company.
I bought this bit along with the Master Jig and all I can say is wow. For everything I’ve seen and read about how hard it is to setup a lock miter router bit, this setup made it a breeze. I grabbed some scrap plywood, measure and mark it, and ran it.
Tight miter joints are a hallmark of fine woodworking, and this bit will cut them in spades. Once cut, the miters interlock mechanically, and clamping is easy since the parts can’t slide around. There is also more gluing area, so the joint is stronger than a straight miter.
Machining parts with the Lock Miter Bit is easywith the bit height set, one part is cut horizontally on the router table, while the corresponding part is cut vertically. The bit is ideal for joining drawer boxes, cabinet parts, and for building 4-sided columns.
To make setting the cutter height easy and fool-proof, use the Rockler Router Bit Set-up Jig (53817, sold separately) to center the bit on your stock.
1/2″ Shank, 1-3/8″|2″ Cutter Diameter, 7/8″|1″ Cutter Height, 45 degree Angle, For Stock 1/2″ to 3/4″ – This Lapped Miter Joint Router Bit Set is excellent for carcass construction in MDF and laminate materials.
I purchased a set of Lapped Miter Joint bits and set up blocks from Infinity 2 to 3 years ago and due to changes in priorities I have just started to attempt to use the bits. I also purchase an Infinity Coping sled at the same time.
This was after I purchased a lock miter bit only to find that the this bit did not work with plywood, however this had not been stated in the documentation. The lapped miter bit is so difficult to set up it is useless.
I am attempting to use the bit on 5/8 Baltic Burch plywood and have reviewed and followed all the directions shown in the documentation and video. I have installed a fence on my router table that provides finite parallel adjustment and I have been unable to create usable joints in spite of extensive hours of trying.
If you can provide some advice on using this bit fine, if not I will give up and use another method for my project.
Don’t have a great deal of use on the bit set as of yet, tho’ more projects are planned. Like most things branded Infinity, I find them to be of good to excellent quality tho’ some are more pricey than I’d like and there is a learning curve but on the boxes and drawers I’ made with them I have had good results and find the setup blocks to be an invaluable time saver.
Best advice is to proceed slowly and accurately with setup and you’ll be a lot happier with the resulting joints. No real downside but I don’t hand out 5 stars until I get a lot more use out of products for longer range evaluations.
I’ve seen too many high ratings from guys who just opened the box and looked at their new toys.
Was building a box to hold all my bits. Picked this up because it is intended for ply. Worked great on Baltic birch. You only have to clamp one way. I slowed my speed down a bit because I was not using a coping sled.
At 24000, it has some good pull (they’re pretty big). Dropped it down a notch in speed and took my time. Great results! Box came out square.
A lock miter router bit is a specialized tool used to create precise, clean cuts in woodworking projects. When used correctly, this type of bit can create incredibly strong and sturdy joints. While there are many different brands and styles of lock miter router bits available, they all work in essentially the same way.
To use a lock miter router bit, first, the woodworker must create a series of cuts in the wood. These cuts must be perfectly aligned in order for the lock miter bit to work correctly. Once the cuts are made, the woodworker then inserts the router bit into the router and locks it in place.
Next, the woodworker slowly and carefully guides the router along the cut lines. The router should be moved slowly and evenly in order to create a clean, precise cut. Once the router has reached the end of the cut line, the woodworker can then remove the router bit and admire the clean, precise cuts that have been made.
