20 Best Living Room Chair For Back Pain Sufferers (2023 Updated)

These chairs are nice! First off, they do not smell. Second, they take only a few minutes to assemble. Third, I am a 5’2″ woman who unpacked the boxes by “rolling” them, and then assembled the recliners without help.

Fourth, they are comfortable and roomy enough. One friend reclined on one of them, and she is about 5’4, 240 pounds. She said it was comfortable. Fifth, they are good for small spaces. I looked all over for an appropriate sofa for my small living room.

I was using a futon couch that was about 6′ long and couldn’t spare more than about 75″. I like traditional furniture and spent a lot of time looking at sofas that were either too long or much too short.

Finally, I thought, “Buy recliners!” I didn’t know if I would have enough room for recliners, either until I came across these. They are both big enough and small enough.

I can’t say enough about how great these chairs are. No one believes me when I tell them what we spent because they are such a great deal! I bought two for my teenage son’s bedroom makeover and he and his friends love gaming while sitting in these.

They fit perfectly under his loft bed and are super comfortable. Love love love!.

Comfy recliner. I sit in this chair every day to watch tv and relax. I’m 5’7. The chair fits me no problem. I could see how it would problematic if I were any taller. The assembly was very easy. The reclining mechanisms are sturdy and have had no problems.

Once I paid for the chair it took a month to have it delivered. I so enjoyed this ever-so-comfy chair for two months until the reclining motor sputtered to a faltering death. I called Coleman and they graciously offered to facilitate the filing of the warranty claim with Ashley Furniture for me.

Had to turn the chair on its head to get a photo of the numbers needed for the claim but mission accomplished. A month later I received a battered box from China containing a new back with the neck and lumbar motor which never was the problem but we replaced it anyway.

(I was advised to hire a professional furniture repair company to do the actual installation and they would reimburse me up to $150. My son did it for free. ) The motor for the base was not included in the box, however.

I emailed Coleman about this and was told it would be shipped (from China) three weeks later. So I waited for a month to get the chair, used it for 2 months, then it is taking another 2 months to get the chair functional again (if indeed that DOES fix it).

Wish I had never bought it. I thought I was buying American. Will do better research next time. Coleman has been very helpful. It’s the product that’s the problem, not the retailer.

We bought 2 of these. Easy to assemble. They smell AWFUL; it’s a chemical smell that is coming from whatever is inside the upholstery. We left them in a storage shed for 2 days because they smelled too badly to bring them in.

In places, the finish on the wood is very sloppy, patchy, and uneven. We noticed it when we were putting the chairs together, but we don’t see it now. Still, it would have made a better impression to have been evenly finished.

When the chairs have finished off-gasing, they’ll be great. We love the size and style. Cheaper online by far, and free shipping (buying in the store incurs a shipping charge as well as a higher price up front for the chairs) so I suggest buying from the website.

I looked everywhere for chairs for our living room and could not find anything I liked. I had sat in the brown leather sidewinder chairs at one store and they were very comfortable. So. I took a risk and ordered the taupe chairs hoping they would match.

They are perfect for our space and super comfy. My teenage boys even approve!.

I am a retired internist with very bad osteoarthritis and spinal problems. I purchased the chair and in putting it together, one of the small Phillips screws that fastened the final armrest had a remnant metal shard in the cross of the screw and when I tried to screw it in place, it wouldn’t turn, Then it popped out and it landed down into the glidepath and I went through a horrible ordeal trying to safely get the screw out of the glide so it wouldn’t damage anything.

Virtually any object that gets to the glidepath can Potentially damage a very expensive investment. Please be more careful with the preparation of your hardware! The standard pad that I purchased is not thick enough and although it is very comforting and I do enjoy it.

It’s making my sciatica act up because it’s not “sumptuous” enough. I purchased this because my cousins have one each in Florida and when I visited them they were different than the one I got now. Overall, I’m satisfied but for the money spent, I would expect more quality in the coverings and the padding.

I know you have More options for these things I’m Critiquing but because I have cats, I didn’t want to spend more $ running the risk of them destroying it overtime. In any event, overall, I’m very happy I made the purchase.

Great piece of furniture. It quickly became my favorite recliner and match beautifuly the rest of my Scandinavian furniture. Strongly recommend it.

Although these are pricey, they are without a doubt the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat on. The only downside to any of these models is the hardware. If certain components break, there are absolutely no replacements available.

The factory will not supply you with any replacement parts except for the cable assembly.

This is not leather! Another Made in China deception/lie. It’s not the main seating in the living room and will hardly ever be used. That’s a good thing since the ‘pleather” is very thin and I’m sure won’t last long.

I recently purchased a brand-new leather high back executive office chair for $200 less than this and the quality is far superior to this chair, and it is genuine leather! The seat is also very shallow and I’m only 5’10 190lbs.

The chair appears to be well built and of good workmanship. However, it is uncomfortable for me. My purpose was to buy a reading chair where I could sit for extended times and simply read. The chair back does not sit fully upright and the seat slops heavily to the back, much like an Adirondack chair.

It may be a great chair to lean back and take a nap but as a sitting and reading chair, it is not comfortable at all, at least for me. I bought this online so I did not have the opportunity to sit in it before purchasing.

If you’re looking for a lounge chair for a younger adult, this may be a good choice. If you’re looking for a nice, comfortable upright chair, this may not be the best choice for you.

The chair looks great, however, if anyone sitting in the chair weighs more than 50 pounds the screws from the swivel to the chair touch each other creating an unpleasant bump as you swivel. Either shorter screws or some sort of spacers might correct the problem.

Well, I wanted to be fair, and have used this chair for several months. I am quite dissatisfied with the chair, and will be returning it to Walmart just as soon as I figure out how to do it. I purchased the chair and a service policy online, and it took four or five tries just to get the order placed.

That should have been a warning, but I persisted and the big box with the chair parts arrived on my front doorstep a few days later. OK – opened the box, and everything looks fine. Read the instructions and all of the parts needed for assembly were there.

The chair parts didn’t fit together too well, but with some perseverance I was finally able to get all of the bolt holes and padded back, seat and sides together. The ottoman portion of the chair does not work like a traditional recliner, and has a black plastic handle on the lower right side of the chair that you lift forward and up to raise the lower section so you can rest your legs.

Weird, and not easy to actuate. Now – the recliner feature – FAIL. The chair doesn’t actually recline, but it will tilt back if you apply pressure to the chair back. And as soon as you lean forward, the chair springs forward with you.

Not a recliner – more of a spring back chair. There is a small plastic knob on the left side of the chair that is evidently there so you can “lock” the reclined chair in position. FAIL. That never worked, as the locking force of the knob is easily overwhelmed by the spring back nature of the chair.

Hoo-boy. this was getting tiresome. I really wanted a recliner, not a tilting chair (that does not tilt back more than 15 degrees or so. ) that is darn near useless. So I thought that maybe this chair could be used as an office chair.

For what it was advertised, and what I paid – this “Coaster Leatherette Swivel Rocker” is a FAIL. My next call will be to Walmart. com to arrange a return. Sigh.

We really love this chair. We purchased it to replace a worn out 10-year old massage recliner. We actually prefer this to our previous recliner. It has a much smaller footprint than our previous recliner, but is equally comfortable.

The footrest is separate from the chair. On our old recliner the footrest was a part of the chair and every time you wanted to get in or out of the chair you had to electrically raise or lower the footrest.

The chair seat is slightly lower to the ground which makes it much easier to sit in with your feet on the floor (and work on my laptop, for example). Once we learned how to simply push on the arms to adjust the chair back, that was easy to do.

We pretty much used our previous chair just for the massage function. This chair we also use when we just want to sit.

I love the chair is very comfortable and I like how it looks. The chair has vibrating massage on upper back, lumbar, thighs and legs through the footstool. It arrived very quickly and in perfect condition.

The only thing that I had trouble with was the vibrating massage. My recliner came with a couple of the wires detached and the vibration couldn’t be turned on with the remote. I took the wires out from the back of the chair and fixed.

It was not a big deal, I would buy the chair again even with that minor issue. Also, it doesn’t have heat but that’s not important to me so I don’t mind.

Quick delivery and delivery people brought it to where it was going to sit. Minimal assembly needed, though a second pay of hands is helpful. Soft faux leather. Super comfy chair that surrounds you. The back pad heats up well though is only situated in the lower back.

The controls are very simple to use and the added massage in the foot stool is an added bonus. There are only two things that mark it down for me personally- (though for what I paid I couldn’t ask for more and if I had more funds I would have upgraded) – One, vibration.

Beware if you have wooden floors or live above others. I have been told that it sounds like my washing machine is on a half hour spin cycle. Thank goodness I have great neighbours! Two, It would be nice to have more control buttons to individually select where you need the vibration.

Overall, a great product for a reasonable price. Really comfy and good massage action. If your budget is small (I had 200) then you can’t go wrong with this chair. Really soothing, strong massage, super comfy.

This pair of antigravity chairs make number 7 and 8 in our collection. We have a summer room and a winter room where we spend our time X two houses. Just can’t sit any where else. We got our first two many years ago and they were a Godsend to my aching (retail store owner) days of standing on hard floors.

We are in our 60s/70s now and the chairs are even more important. Gave on to our son in law who is a builder. He LOVES it too. Great to know there is a place in your own home where you can get absolute relief.

It’s extremely comfortable and relaxing as billed. Easy to assemble too. I was a little startled by the size of it. You do give exact measurements, but I had a zero gravity chair before that fit in a particular space and I was assuming this would do the same.

Unfortunately not. It is very tall when upright and presents a bit of barrier entering the room. But the furniture has been moved around, and I am getting used to its size. Once I am in it the size doesn’t matter anyway.

The chair has a fabulous motor to operate a very comforting and relaxing chair. The positions with the lumber area as well as the leg area are incredible for my body’s kinestheology The hair trigger touch joy stick which alters the positions feels fragile.

Meaning I hope that it does not break. My chair is a month old so it may take time to know if it will continue to function properly. You must have the memory foam or you are wasting the comfort of it.

The memory foam is extra as is the leather which seems ridiculous. It took three visits from a company to set it up with little recourse except to make yourself available for each visit until the chair was set up properly.

The company selling the chair was helpful in communicating with the company that ultimately set it up. I am enjoying using it and it’s functionality is very relaxing. It is a very handsome looking chair so it fits with my other furniture.

Exactly what I needed. It’s my work chair/pc chair/ gaming chair all in one. Very comfortable and I’m a larger guy. Padding is decent and feels durable. If you are budget restricted then this will be a decent buy.

It doesn’t disappoint. However if you do have the extra available I’m sure there may be something more “plush” around. But a solid 4/5 stars. Simple assembly and 2 days in I’m loving it.

I bought this chair about a week ago for my wife to breastfeed our son in as she was getting bad back pain. After using it for a week she already feels a lot better. The chair was very easy to put together, it only took me about 20 minutes.

On close inspection you can tell that its obviously not worth 100s of pounds but for the money I think it’s good quality. The chair reclines back and slides forward which is a nice feature, you can adjust how freely it does that with a knob on the side.

My only criticism at first was that the chair and the foot stool only rest on their respective stands which I thought might fall off if you pick up the chair or footstool. However the stand is wedged on to the chair/footstool pretty solidly so I don’t think it would fall off by accident.

This recliner is very comfortable. It supports the lower back well and the footrest is sturdy. I wish it didn’t have black metal arms (for aesthetic reasons). Also, the “cream” colour has a tad too much yellow in it (think Eggnog rather than vanilla ice cream).

Otherwise, decent quality and good value for the money.

Absolutely wonderful! Perfect size, and we put it together in about five minutes. The fabric is very nice. Cushion is firm but very comfortable. Highly recommend. Massage is awesome!! I’ll be ordering one more.

I had a cheaper version of this zero gravity chair for ten years and finally spent the money to get the luxury model. Absolutely love it. I upgraded with the memory foam and so glad I did. This should last for the next 15 years.

The only drawback is that I am only 5′ 4″ and my arms are a bit short to reach the manual level to bring the chair back up. Looks beautiful, though, and not much to deal with.

Since I spent ages researching before I bought this chair, I’ll answer all of the questions I was asking. DELIVERY: arrived a day earlier than the first of the two dates indicated. Arrived safely-packaged in one box.

BOX: so large the delivery man had to squeee it through my standard-sized front gate and, as I had anticipated, it had to be left outside my front door. There is no way in which it could have been taken through a usual doorway.

Double French doors would be ok. UNPACKING MOVING: the box was very heavy, and had to be cut open to allow the contents into the house. Another person would have made the job much easier, but I’m used to working out how to do heavy jobs single-handed.

Careful cutting (box is sturdy and so watch your hands!), removal from the box of the relatively light backrest and then levering and sliding did the trick. I wouldn’t have been able to get the chair upstairs on my own.

SETTING UP: simple, obvious and took five minutes. COMFORT: the backrest is very soft and comfortable; the seat is not as soft as my other faux-leather chairs, but is not bad. I’m six feet three inches tall, and so expected the recliner extension to be far too short–they always are– and this, of course, is the case.

It ends behind my kneecaps in the usual way, but adding an additional footstool makes it comfortable. The angle of sitting when upright is a little steep for someone of my height, but you can push the backrest and so that it is fine.

SIZE AND RELIABILITY: I weigh ten and a half stone and so am not anticipating any problems with the chair’s strength; however, it does seem very robust. I am slim (waist 34 inches) and the seat is wide enough for someone a few inches larger, being about 44 centimetres between the middles of the arm-rests.

MASSAGE FUNCTION: I love it! Brilliant! Varied and responsive with many settings. Because I’m tall the ‘leg’ section massages my thigh area, of course. But that doesn’t matter. HEATER: works perfectly.

SWING: the chair swivels freely, as most do. Don’t look for it to be semi-fixed. SUMMARY: although its seat isn’t as soft as the softest ones I’ve known, I love this chair, and am hoping it will last well.

Other than that I like the comfort, massage and the lumbar heat is good.

I like how easy this chair is to use. It’s simple in design, very comfortable, and looks good. It has 3 “locking” positions which makes it easy to go from the sitting position into a semi-reclining position or a fully reclining position.

There are no levers to pull or push – just place your hands on the arm rests and lean back or forward into your desired position. The package includes the chair back and four legs. The back snaps onto the brackets at the rear of the seat – the legs screw into the threads imbedded in the chair’s corners.

Only 27 inches wide and 34 inches deep, the back requires an additional 18 inches of clearance behind the chair in it’s fully reclining position,.

I ordered this because I needed something small for my living room. It took a long time to deliver and the massager didn’t work. I emailed and they took months to send me a new device. The device didn’t hook up and work either.

I left it alone because it is small and fit perfectly in my tiny living room. It’s cute and reclines back. It’s comfortable just never worked. I’m actually going to see if they will return it because now I regret not pushing them more to fix it but because the original complaint took months I gave up.

This recliner is nice. I’ve paid twice the amount for other chairs and this one is just as nice. It looks and feels like it cost a lot more. I didn’t know I was ordering a power chair, but now that I’ve got it, that’s nice, too.

The mechanism is smooth and really easy to operate. It goes from a totally upright position easily to a totally flat position with a simple push of the button. You can stop the button at any time when you’re at the position you want.

The chair comes in two pieces. The bottom/seat section is heavy, as it should be for stability. I put the chair together by myself with one simple step…insert the metal tabs on the chair back into the metal slots on the back of the seat.

The recliner is impressive, especially for the cost. I will probably buy a second one soon.

We purchased a lovely couch and matching chair that is so perfect for our smaller living room. It is off-white but easily cleaned. The deliver was effortless; they came at the beginning of the scheduled time and were in and out in a flash.

Saleswoman Tracee was super helpful and spent a lot of time helping us pick out the furniture.

Bought this chair as my first furniture purchase and it is great! The sales rep explained the entire process to me throughout my time there and any extra questions that I had. The chair is a great addition to my apartment living space and eventually my home as well.

Already had to have one replaced due to squeaking. Sofa is not made with springs but a suspension system that is difficult to work on. I might have to call on one of my matching chairs. Every once in a while I hear the same squeak as the chair and that is how it started on the sofa.

Seat cushion sunken already and I have had this item less than 30 days. Poor quality. Not worth the money.

Pros: Incredibly comfortable recliner. Great leg, lumbar, back, and head support. If you’re in the market for a traditional recliner for napping or watching TV, this is about perfect. Considerations: This is massive.

It takes up so much more space than it seems to in the showroom, and many of the Room & Board pictures do not have it far enough away from the wall to recline. You will need it to be about 65 inches away from the wall, and if it’s on a swivel base you will knock anything close to it over.

Also, its positions are great for TV, napping, maybe reading. They’re not great for talking or conversation, because you will be leaned too far back. So if you plan to have this next to a couch, it should be alright.

Across from a couch doesn’t work. Cons: Leather quality and finishing was bad. We ordered blue leather, and it was an entirely different shade than the color we chose at the showroom – expected rich navy blue, got pale grey blue.

And the arms arrived crushed, with the sides showing considerable drooping and loosely applied leather. Ultimately returned this because it took up so much more space than expected; we wanted a chair for lounging and talking, not TV; the leather was not what we ordered, and poorly applied.

We bought a pair of Wyntons in Urbino Smoke, graphite steel swivel, curved arms. They’re really well-made, and recline easily and smoothly. My husband is 6′ and he loves his (maybe a little too much).

I’m 5′, and the head rest pillow hits me in a way that pitches my head forward, when in the fully upright position. It’s less of a problem when reclined. I do think the curved arms are a good choice for short people, because my arms can rest without raising at the shoulder.

I ordered the Urbino Smoke because it was in stock. To my eye, it’s the sort of gray that leans a little blue in certain light. The light pebbling looks durable and is likely a good choice given the constant motion of a recliner, but personal taste is for something with a more worn patina.

I probably should have returned these given the price, but chances are slim to none that a recliner exists that is both well-made AND comfortable for short people.

When I saw that the Urbino leather was described as “cat resistant”, I was skeptical. As it turns out, it is completely true. Not in the sense that my cats are unable to scratch it. rather, they seem rather disenchanted with the leather, which in turn motivates them to leave it alone.

I on the other hand am completely in love with the leather. It is soft, and the chair is comfortable. I have the electric recline option, and am very pleased with the smoothness of the reclining action, as well as the ability to hold the recline at a midpoint.

I also got the swivel base. Makes the chair very versatile indeed. The only thing I’m slightly displeased about is the recliner control and USB port. It’s rather floppy. If I pull out a USB cable, the entire assembly comes out.
