20 Best Liver Treats For Dogs (2023 Updated)

So happy that I came across these. My cat has both small cell gi lymphoma as well as pancreatitis, and this has affected his diet and food allowances greatly. I was having a very hard time finding a treat for him that was a single novel protein source that he liked.

He loves these! The bites are a little large (as they’re probably more often fed as dog treats) so breaking them can be a little tough, but otherwise they have been great. Shipping took quite a while, but I will continue to buy them as long as he approves.

We have been using this brand for my dog food for a few years now. I’ve been looking for a local small business. Ompany which cares about their quality and ingredients and this company does it all. They provide great products with good ingredients.

I could not get my Maltese/Yorkie mix to eat anything. I think I tried every brand and flavor out there. My other dog Payton would pretty much eat anything except beef flavored food and treats. I bought Purina Pro Plan shedded lamb and brown rice.

Maddie still wasn’t quite satisfied, so I ordered Stella & Chewy’s lamb liver freeze dried raw dog treats. I put a few pieces in a colander wet them then cut some up and put it on the bottom of their bowls then add the dry food, I cut up a little more of freeze dried liver and put on top.

She goes crazy over this I have to tell her to slow down. Payton loves it too. Thank Chewy for resolving this 6+ month nightmare with Maddie.

This is my second time ordering this freeze dried beef heart treat. I order a lot of Stella and chewy products but this one by far was the worst. Half the pack was only chunks of fat! I found out when i squished it.

And it was soft like butter. Chunks of white greasy fat! I figured a little on some are ok but he had already ate like 20% off the bag and realized pretty much the rest of the pack was just squishy white clumps of fat.

Won’t be purchasing this one anymore. Feels like it was scraps that they put in here and called it treats.

My 2 little 13-lb terrier mixes love these Stella and Chewy’s chicken hearts. The problem is that they only like certain pieces, the pieces that are odd looking with stuff hanging, not the perfect looking little hearts.

I always fill the bowl with the entire bag, and when they are done, what’s remaining in the bowl are the perfect little hearts. They pick them out what they want. I have been ordering them online, and most bags arrived filled with perfect little hearts.

I need to start buying them at the store, and pick out the ugly ones for my girls. Luckily, the rescue where one of my girls came from doesn’t mind taking her leftover treats. I send them a box of these leftover treats and other leftover treats.

I love these treats. **BUYER BEWARE** they’re training treats. Ok? Big. Small. Sometimes slivers. At the very bottom, sprinkle-like and great as an occasional food topper. The big ones are supposed to be broken down even further.

Why? Because liver treats in quantities larger than a SMALL HANDFUL per DAY (for a dog around 40-50 lbs) can lead to vitamin A toxicity. Yeah. Don’t poison your dog based on the glutinous habits of us humans, my dude.

This is a great secondary reward solution during training as well, and can be considered “high value” depending on the individual interest of the dog you are working with. Give the chicken breast treats a try if you’re not vibing with this option.

I’ve had a bad batch before – it’s not the end of the world, contact Chewy if you run into this. They have fantastic customer service! Stewart is a high quality brand but they’re not immune to suboptimal climate and storage methods incurred by the merchant (CHEWY).

We’ve been a Stewart customer for 4 years and counting. I have 0 complaints. The price is. pricey, but well worth it. Seriously, have you SEEN the ingredients lists for other dog treats? I promise you they are longer than 1 ingredient in total, which is more than my dog (and yours) needs.

I got this freeze dried chicken liver for healthy, high-value (in training terms) treats and these fit the bill, but they’ve been even more useful to get my dogs to eat their regular meals. The chicken liver is a bit more crumbly than the beef liver, so I prefer to cut the beef liver into smaller pieces for training.

Since the chicken is easy to crumble, it has solved different eating problems for both of my dogs. The older one lost interest in his food after being sick, but adding this chicken liver helped him get back to gobbling up his food like the old days.

My younger dog is kind of afraid of food bowls (she’s a bit quirky!) but she decides the bowl isn’t so bad if a few pieces of chicken liver are crumbled over her regular food – which is much better than pouring her food onto the floor or a large tray! Now both dogs eat up their meals fairly quickly and it’s so much easier to entice them with some healthy chicken liver than anything else I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a LOT of things to get them to eat)!.

I’ve been using this product for several years and its always been high quality chicken breast. In June I got a 14. 8 oz tub and immediately upon opening was hit with a rancid odor. The pieces were not white like normal but were a beige/tan color and lots of greasy fat globules on the breast meat.

My dog turned his nose up at them which is not normal when it comes to chicken treats. Chewy kindly sent another 14. 8 oz container but the same rancid smell and discolored treats were present. Neither package was left out in the heat by me.

I just threw them away.

These treats are my secret weapon for crate training, recall training, and I get instant rapt attention if I just touch the container. The Schipperke and Lab love these. I like the fact that there are small chunks for the former, and bigger pieces for the latter.

If there’s powder at the bottom, it’s a great kibble enhancer. The original container is a pain because the top is hard to reseal, so I decant them right away. If they are exposed to air or humidity, they age very rapidly.

It’s a spendy treat because they are freeze dried organ meat, but if my vet uses them, and my pups crave them, then I’m all in.

These liver wafers can be broken into 1/8 inch squares larger slabs. They’re perfect for training or treating. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Baxter Boo shipped promptly, I’m their new devoted customer.

I discovered Bare Bites at Zoom Room Huntington Beach while training my dog. They called it doggie crack – and they are not wrong. My pets will do anything at anytime for Bare Bites. I have introduced my neighbor to it as she is training a new puppy – and she responds the same way.

Yesss! Good job on Baxter Boo for picking up this product. I won a bag of these in a holiday gift basket and my dogs went crazy for them. Since then I have been trying to figure out where to get them.

Now only available in Ohio and they don’t bother to return customer inquiry messages on their website. but if you don’t have a product to sell anymore who cares about treating customers right and returning messages right? Bil-jac has copied the carton design as well as larger bags and jacked up the price so it appears they sold all but the local business to them.

Shame they had a good product for a good price. Don’t think I will be trying it since the price is nothing special anymore. Also because bil-Jac had their own recipe before they bought out the competition so no idea if it’s as good or safe just because it looks the same.

They bought the market not the recipe.

We’ve used these for years for all of our dogs, and they LOVE them! It’s the perfect training treat! We also use them for those who aren’t on medication that way no one misses out. I just went to buy more and can’t find them, which is very disappointing.

I’m sure there are many others in the same position who use these treats daily to reward their pups. Please bring these back!!!.

It would have been 5stars but your product of hollywood stars treats last MONTH WAS SOLD FOR. 99CENTS and the price has gone up to $4. 00 a box. I would like to know why such an increase. I’m 67 yr. old on SSI and my service dog has seizures and the only way he will take his medicine is when i press his pill into one of the treats 2x a day.

My LB’s arrived, and they were immediately sniffed out by 2 of my dogs. The bits are largish, but they cut easily with a knife to make smaller training treats–my purpose for buying them. There is some powder residue, but nothing alarming, and it merely needs to be sprinkled over food.

Daisey, an English Setter, (the equivalent of ‘Mikey’ on the Life cereal commercials) does not like much, and she turned her nose up to these. My other three (English Setter, Am. Bulldog. Pitbull) love them.

If you are a one-dog household with a “Mikey” you might want to try a smaller size. If your dog does not like it, donate the balance to your local shelter where they are sure to be enjoyed. Dexter is our newest addition: an 8 mo old pitbull mix that someone dumped on our county backroad.

The training treats are primarily for him.

My Sweet little girl loves the Liver Bits. She can’t wait to devour them. Making her sit, stay and leave it until I give her the OK! Once she hears OK she can’t get to the treat fast enough. The leave it part is the hardest for her and with a stare until I say OK.

These are Mojo’s favorite treats EVER. He’s a big fan, and would likely eat the whole bag, given his choice. They’re the perfect size for behavior rewards or just for a quick “good dog” treat.

My dog like these and she gets two a day. They are excellent for health and she even likes the taste as they have been kept cool and crispy.

These are great. I had to laugh when I read the review about the the bucket not filled all the way, since this is by weight, not volume; and the one about the smell, that too. If I had a dog’s nose I don’t know if I’d be grateful or horrifed, but mine love these.

I even break them up in kibble size bits and sprinkle them up on their food on days they’re picky or not feeling 100%. About the company’s customer service, these shouldn’t be in the review of the product, so those ought to push up the overall rating.

Love these, they are great for working with my dog on various training. You can break them into small sizes so that there is still room for a fully balanced meal but it keeps him motivated. No smell, no stains, just natural beef liver – great product, highly recommend it.

These are my dogs absolute fav treats. He is very food motivated so great for training purposes. I luv that there is only one ingredient LIVER. My vet recommended these. Crumps are simple the best Liver treat on the market Definitely try them.

My 1 year old Saint Bernard absolutely loves every single product by Crumps! He literally drools for them. I love this company because almost every product is single ingredient. And the products which have multiple ingredients, still contain ingredients you can pronounce and know they are healthy for your dog.

My dog is the pickiest eater and sometimes there’s rhyme or reason to which treats she loves and doesn’t. She’s refused a couple of other brands of very similar treats when the pet stores around me are out of stock.

I gave up on trying to substitute Pure Bites since it’s not worth trying to find out if she’ll like a bag of $15 dollar goodies, so this brand has been a staple for years. I typically rotate the chicken breast or beef liver and that keeps her pretty happy.

Considering how picky she is with food, I can’t imagine that any other dog would turn these down or not go crazy over them. Definitely recommend.

I have to be honest, these kind of gross me out. They are completely dry, and smell meaty, I just don’t like the thought of them I guess. However, the dogs love them and they are single ingredient, so I deal.

They come in a huge bag that lasts a long time, and the crumbles at the bottom can be used as a food topper. I add these to “freezies” (penguin toy made for making frozen treats), which I give to the pups so they leave us alone during dinner.

I also use during training as a high-value treat. They work well and are very motivating!.

My picky long haired cats love this combination treat. Let me rephrase, both cats love the freeze dried chicken bits, but the younger longer haired cat VIOLENTLY LOVES the duck bits. Like will pounce over the other cat to get his piece and then steal hers while he’s at it.

This is not his typical behavior but it’s all in good fun. We throw the duck bits across the room and down the hall to watch him go chasing the treat. There may be a few kids bowling pins set up at the end of the hallway sometimes.

My 4 year old rescued domesticated feral cat loves the Whole Life Just One freeze dried chicken treats! We have a nightly ritual now; as soon as I turn off the living room TV and walk into my bedroom, I find him there, sitting on one of the perches of the 6′ tall cat “tree” in front of the exterior door to the back deck.

He waits patiently (most of the time) for me to place pieces of the treats on each of the perches, then begins eating the treats on each perch. He always saves the treats on the highest perch for a snack in the middle of the night.

These are great and healthy treats for him. The only drawback is that in the smaller packages the treats can arrive crumbled. That isn’t too bad, though, because the outdoor cats love it when I pour them onto the dry cat food that I put out for them.

I’ve learned that the best way to buy these treats is to buy the larger packages, because the treats are vacuumed sealed and hardly crumbled at all.

These treats used to be awesome but lately, in last six months or so, they have become hard and brittle. Larger dogs might do ok but small animals will have a hard time chewing these rock hard treats.

There are two versions of the treats, even if you chop them up. One is a softer cubed version – these are the good ones. The other version is shredded salmon and is overdried. The last three bags I’ve gotten I’ve had to toss about 1/4 of the bag.

There is no way to tell what type you’ll get when you order from Chewy’s. I’ve even contacted customer service to try to send the cubed version only but this doesn’t work. After this last bag of throwaways I’m forced to look for an alternate.

Too bad.

I’m usually very satisfied with everything I order from Chewy. Not with this item. I have previously purchased (many times) the small bags of this item. They were great–nice cubes. This large bag was three-quarters powder.

The rest were pulverized little, tiny bits. How am I supposed to treat a German shepherd with that? Wound-up throwing most of the contents away. Had to sift the tiny bits out with a fine mesh strainer.

It looks like they swept-up the powder that was left behind from the real pieces and filled this bag with it. Very disappointed.

I bought one of every kind of treat that was available on the site to see what my dogs liked and didn’t like. So far, they love every package I have opened! The interesting thing is that none of the treats or the Bully Sticks have any odor.

If you have smelled other Bully Sticks, you know how important this is! You can tell that all of the products are really fresh and they are packaged so nicely. The plastic zip bags that they come in actually work perfectly time and time again and the material used is really thick and hearty.

That is a nice change from most treats sold by others. I can’t say enough about how good they must taste. Our GoldenDoodle Litter of puppies are easy to train with the training size treats and they all sit at attention and look up to see what they are getting next! It is such a bonus to be able to put a handful of any of your treats in my pocket and not have them leave a stain in the pocket.

The treats are super clean, no odor, no staining and your fingers are clean after you handle them! So many things to love about these treats! I also love the fact that everything is natural and only one ingredient is used!.

We LOVE these treats. Continuing with the “nite-nite” gizzard review, these and the Hearty Bites are number 2 in our nightly routine. After turkey gizzards are completely enjoyed for putting away their toys, it’s a dash outside to tend to final business then patiently waiting at the back door with backsides wagging for the Beef Heart and Hearty Bites treats while I lock up then off to their beds and treat 3 before the lights go out.

Their final trip outside every night used to take a long, long time with all they had to smell and inspect, but they love the treats waiting for them inside so much that they’ve replaced the routine smell and inspect with a quiet, but fierce warning howl of their presence to any night creatures as they hurry back inside.

They are hysterical. I tried to substitute a left over treat from pre-Campfire days, but they both dropped the treat and went right back outside — and stayed. The quality of Campfire treats is well above any others and worth every cent.

I was looking for a low fat jerky treat made in the USA for my 8 year old rescue. She really loves jerky but unfortunately they are typically high in fat. She was having some pancreas issues and high fat treats are a no go.

I wanted a safe option for her but could only find low fat jerky made in china which I refuse to do. Came across the campfire treats website and decided to give this mom and pop shop a try. I was a little concerned when I got the treats because they are crunchy.

My girl loves chewy treats so I didn’t think she would eat these. She really loves them and I can feel good knowing they are made in the USA with no ingredients that will hurt her. Give them a try. I bet your dog will love them.

I originally bought these for my dog as healthy training treats. While sitting at my desk one day, my cat hopped up and started chewing on the bag. I figured why not? It’s just salmon. I broke it into smaller chunks and couldn’t do it fast enough.

Wanted to try something new for my older dog. the smell is overpowering but the dog loves these treats. They provide so much nutrition as well. He struggles with cognition and motor issues but since giving him these treats, he’s improved greatly.

I bought these to get an order to the free shipping benefit – who knew they would now be his absolute favorite treat! They are pricey – but my fussy old (15) boy grabs them out of my hand on days when he won’t eat anything else! At this point in his life, whatever he likes, he gets.

Pull this bag out of the drawer and EVERYone is present. 2 cats meowing and the dog staring. What crumbs the cats miss, the dog cleans up, so that’s convenient. My only problem is, I have not been able to re-up on this product, so I have been having to purchase other brands.

Luckily, all that I have purchased have been equally good quality and sourced from the USA. Don’t be fooled by the light packaging, even if you get the largest bag. Just a few nibbles for each is plenty for the hoard of fuzzies.

My puppy (mini golden doodle) loves these treats, I am assuming for the flavor. However, as the person who most of the time cannot break them apart and has to take a knife out to cut it into smaller pieces, it’s kinda a pain.

They are hard dry blocks so now I take some time out of my day to cut them up into smaller more manageable pieces for my small dog. It means more dishes for me wash and the crumbs create a mess, but he likes them and they are supposed to be good for him.

**Bigger dogs will likely not have these issues. I would have preferred a smaller size and softer for puppies but they are still good. I will be buying more when I run out :D.

My chihuahua is very old and no longer has teeth so I always look for soft alternatives. He LOVES the chicken morsels from this company, they are so soft and melt in the mouth! I could easily crush the chicken ones with my fingers and sprinkle it on his food too.

I wanted him to have different flavors to enjoy and ordered these beef liver ones, but these are MUCH harder and I cannot crush it up in my hand either. He loves the smell of the treats so I’m sure they probably taste great for dogs! It’s just different than what we have come to expect of the freeze dried treats.

My dogs love these treats! They are part of their daily treats. I limit them to a couple a day because they only weigh 17 and 20 lbs and they get other good treats throughout the day.

For an all-natural, dehydrated product that keeps your dogs digestive systems healthy, my toy poodle and papillon love and devour these threats with relish! Great as a reward for doing pee-pees in the correct location or for performing commands correctly on call.

My dog loves these treats. We play a little ‘hide and seek’ game with a few of them every night and, after his walk and his meals, it’s the highlight of his day. Lou never lets me forget to do it. I can’t recommend them highly enough — Kiwi Kitchens is our favourite brand.

My review is simple. I was looking for a healthy snack for my three cats. I gave these a try and thought they were a bust since two of my cats immediately walked away. My cat Belle really loves them to the point that at morning treat time, she sits in front of the drawer where I keep them.

The other two haven’t given them a second thought since their original sniff. With that in mind, I’ll add that Belle (who likes these treats) also has a palate for many other things the other two don’t sniff twice at.

That might tell you your chances of your feline enjoying them. Just fyi, I keep buying them! I can’t deny Belle one of her life’s pleasures!.

Our 10-year male cat was a picky eater before he was diagnosed with diabetes in 2021. I switched to high protein, but then he’d walk away from the bowl. Sometimes he’d circle back, sometimes not. I put the chips on top of, but also push them into the moist food.

He will finish most of moist food, usually about 3 oz.

Dr. Tim’s liver treat is a wonderful liver treat that I mix into my treat pouch to give my poodle a more intense flavored treat on our walks or training sessions. It’s a very healthy treat, which I chop up into smaller pieces given it’s a freeze dried treat and do not want to give her too many.

I do carry water in case she gets thirsty.

I’ve been buying something very similar at a local grocery store, but I ran out before my shopping trip. In desperation, I checked Chewy because my AutoShip was coming up. And I found these! They are exactly what my dogs LOVE! They aren’t long-lasting, at least not with my dogs, but they love them.

It must be really hit or miss whether this works for your dog or not. I saw tons of positive reviews but also several about upset stomach and diarrhea which I chose to ignore since my dog doesn’t have a sensitive stomach.

However, several hours after eating this my dog is having diarrhea all over the place. Would not recommend since so many others have had the same.

We tried so many different ways to crate train our 50lb rescue pup and these were the ticket! She only gets these treats when we put her in her crate when we leave the house. We joke that it’s a $1 toll to leave the house but it is 100% worth it.

She pouts when we have to give her something else when we run out. A word of caution: these might not be the best if your dog tends to eat treats without chewing them all the way. We stopped giving them to our hound mix because he tends to eat the entire thing in two bites and it doesn’t digest well.

This review is for Fromm Crunchy Os “Smokin’ CheesePlosions” treat (since I couldn’t find the approach tag). Wow these smell GOOD!! Almost like a potato chip for a person 😄. I like the Fromm brand, so I was happy to discover this treat is made by them.

I like the ingredients too, I just wish it didn’t rely so heavily on the legumes/starches. My dogs love them.

My 6month old corgi is obsessed with these. When he sees me putting on my shoes to leave the house, he gets in his crate to wait for these treats. They are bigger than the other Fromm types of treats, so these are not good for training.

But we will always keep a steady supply of these since our boy loves them so much!.

Love these! the ingredients are natural and simple and won’t upset the diets of puppies during training if many are used. Love the size too. They are great for training because of the size and because dogs LOVE liver.

I use these for general training but I use freeze dried liver for rewarding potty outside when first housebreaking. You want to pull out all the stops when it comes to housebreaking :).

My dogs are used to the Thrive Liver Treats as they are given as a reward from the vet. I thought I would look them up because I have a Beagle who suffers with Epilepsy and we have to be careful with his diet.

He particularly enjoyed the Fish treats though our Labrador was not keen but he is fussy. The Duck and Chicken treats are slices of dried meat. The dogs loved these as a tasty, crunchy treat. The liver and fish treats are cut into smaller pieces which are ideal for training and play.

We have an hour in the evening when we play with the small treats either training or hiding the treats which keeps the dogs amused for ages both in the house and out in the garden or both! Even at the ages of 8 and almost 11 the dogs are just as eager to learn new tricks or perform the old ones for these treats.
