I have a long history with Apple products, including the Apple TV, all the way back to the first generation, yes, the large Mac mini looking one, all the way up to the previous 1080p version (not current 1080p version).

I have a Roku 4K as my primary display, but was not using an Apple TV on this as I really like the Roku layout, the abundance of apps, and it’s generally flawless. I had a theater room with a projector, 110” screen, 7.

2. 2 Atmos, but it was 1080 (where my 1080p Apple TV lived). Well, I moved and combined my theater to my living room and now just use the 4K and figured I’d also upgrade to the new 4K Apple TV. I had not really wanted the new one, as the 1080p version was literally perfect, and from my viewing distance, the 55” 4K looked phenomenal with 1080 OR 4K, so I initially held off…until I wanted to try Dobly Atmos audio & use my AirPods Max.

Fast Forward to replacing the 1080p Apple TV with the newest 4K model and holy cow, the increase in speed, the new remote (it’s worth it alone to just upgrade the remote), AirPods instant connection/transfer, Apple Music integration, Home Pod integration…it’s awesome.

Again, I had no desire at all to replace my old 1080p version because I didn’t really feel the updates would be worth the $179 price tag, but for real, it’s worth every bit of that and more. I have found myself discovering old music that’s been updated with Atmos via Apple Music and it sounds incredible (something Roku can’t do).

I now have the hub that Roku was for my theater, but with the added benefit of including the Apple stuff I use all the time on my iPhone & iPad Pro (Apple Music, movies purchased or digitally redeemed when I bought 4K or BluRay copies, private listening via AirPods, instant log-in and account connection via iCloud Keychain…the list just goes and goes).

If you are a diehard Apple user, this really does make more sense than a Roku, and I LOVE my Roku. But there is no going back for me. Again, this new model has absolutely been the best home theater upgrade I’ve done is years and I really didn’t *think* I wanted one, even going as far as asking why anyone would…then I bought mine.

Probably one of the best features is all of my older movies redeemed with Digital Copy are now in 4K, contain the Atmos tracks and I no longer need to use my Xbox One S as a dedicated BluRay / 4K player UNLESS I don’t have a digital copy of that film.

That means I can sell or trade in my physical discs of those movies, putting some money back in my pocket and potentially paying for the Apple TV just by doing that. If you’re on the fence about buying one like I was, just get it.

Picture quality is obviously amazing (and to be fair, this higher end Roku 4K provides identical replay quality – 4K @ 60hz), Atmos support system wide is awesome, AirPods connectivity is awesome, the new remote is awesome, iCloud photos (if you use that) is great, and lastly, all the major player streaming apps are there and the layout & speed is incredible VS some other platforms, especially Amazon Fire devices (BARF).

If you are in the Apple Ecosystem and want to try a different streaming platform, this is hands down the best way to do it.

TraduciMostra in lingua originaleI bought this Apple TV on a friend’s recommendation and because I own an IPhone and find it’s interface easy to use. For at least the last 5 years I have streamed using either my Roku or my TiVo.

I have the TiVo as I primarily watch OTA programs. I recently bought a new tv with google tv as it’s smart tv platform. The TiVo noticeably loads and responds the slowest of these streaming devices. I have had the TiVo for the longest of the devices so probably strongly out of familiarity the interface is the easiest for me.

The Roku I have owned nearly as long as the TiVo. I used it as my primary streaming device until recently purchasing the new tv and appletv. The Roku interface is my preference of all 4 devices and I found it’s remote simple and the the easiest learn.

The google tv is my new tv’s operating system interface. I have only had this tv for about 2 weeks longer than the appletv. The google tv responds very quickly compared to the TiVo and Roku but the appletv seems to respond even much more quickly than the google tv.

I haven’t used the google interface much as I still primarily watch ota using the TiVo. So I have not used the google tv interface and remote enough to have any opinion of use. The appletv seems to process so much faster than the other devices I have mentioned.

When loading any of my streaming services they nearly instantly appear. I still haven’t owned this very long and as I said don’t stream alot. My impression so far of the interface is it is apple and having owned only iPhones very familiar and easy to navigate.

The remote is simple physically a similar simple minimalist buttons as the Roku remote. I am experiencing a slow learning curve mastering the main combination cursor and/or mouse button. It’s used as the primary navigation for the interface and as the forward,reverse,pause,play and etc.

for streaming. It takes some finesse to not get unintended responses. I haven’t spent more than 20 hours streaming and spent a couple hours playing and exploring. When streaming one feature the appletv does l know my Roku or TiVo won’t do is skip back or forward by 10 seconds like a dvr.

The other major preference I am having is owning an iPhone gives options to share apps. music,etc. Overall the appletv 4K will be my go to streaming device. At this point as I haven’t owned it for long this is based on it’s impressive processing speed.

As I don’t stream that much I don’t believe l needed this in any way but I so far it’s my preference and each time I use it I am finding that large button does something I hadn’t learned it could do.

TraduciMostra in lingua originaleLet me start by saying that my household has many apple products. We have an Apple Watch, too iPhone 13 Pro Max, and a MacBook M1 air. I figured the Apple TV would work great in this ecosystem.

Unfortunately I found the system to be lacking. The pros of the system are that the picture quality is fantastic And the menu is snappy (quick). I love the screen saver feature. The app support is horrendous though.

It’s not that there aren’t apps but that they are horribly made. Apple is also shoving its TV service down your throat. After using a Chromecast for the last eight years, I was really hoping that I could just cast from the apps.

Although it is technically possible, it works like crap. For example, you still have to choose the app with the remote and then you can cast inside the app. If you’re someone who likes remotes then the system is great for you, I just find them unnecessary in 2023.

Now iOS has a built-in remote for the Apple TV, but it’s still more annoying to use than just being able to cast from the apps. And you can put multiple accounts on the Apple TV, but every time you want to switch accounts you have to go into settings.

The system also gets really weird if you have more than one person casting videos. For example, me and my Fiancé will often share videos on the TV with each other, where I would play one and then she would play one.

This doesn’t work very well with an Apple TV. It also randomly blacks out and will start playing videos at a random volume. When I want to use AirPlay to play something, It will often start playing the video, go to black, and then play whatever was playing previously.

It’s obnoxious. For a premium streaming device, this is a pretty poor experience in my opinion. Again, if you’re somebody who wants a remote and just plays Netflix or buys movies from iTunes, you’ll have a good experience.

The overall build is very high-quality and feels solid in the hands. This device just doesn’t work for me. It’s definitely a better user experience than a cheapo Chromecast or cheapo fire stick, but it’s still pretty crappy in my opinion.

This experience pushed me to finally pay up and just buy the Nvidia shield and be done with trying streaming devices.

For some reason I spent a long time under the impression that the Roku product and the Streaming Stick and Roku Streaming Stick+ were on the lower end of Roku’s device lineup, but today I learned that’s not the case at all.

They are comparable to other name brand streaming devices. The Roku Streaming Stick+ is AWESOME. I love using it and it was so easy to set up on my TV. It definitely delivers on its promises. It works with Google Assistant if you’re into that, has a well-executed voice control functions, and also has much stronger Wi-Fi with a longer range.

It’s second only to the Roku Ultra and does not disappoint either. Plus, the Wi-Fi on Roku Streaming Stick+ is dual-band so you can use both 2. 4 GHz and 5 GHz connections, which is more useful than most people even realize, in my opinion (especially if you live in a dense urban area or an apartment building where other people’s connections can sometimes interfere with your streaming).

We use it at our beach condo and it work’s magnificently. Most retailers sell it for $49 in-store and online, which is a seriously good price. Five stars, no doubt! I would definitely buy this Roku product again.

I’m thinking about buying a new Roku 70” inch TV next because I’m just so impressed with their devices and products. You will be so happy with anything you buy from Roku!.

IšverstiShow in original language It works well. It is great that it is radio signal based and not line of sight based. The remote does not have to be aimed at the receiver. I have three other Roku units that are all the older Roku Express and when I tried a free trial of HBO Max it would not work on any of them, but it does work on the Streaming stick+.

The Streaming Stick+ connects to my 5G router channel while the Roku Express units only connect to my 2. 4G router channel. I think that that makes for a better viewing experience. The TV controls of power on/off, volume up/down, and mute that are built into the remote are really handy.

Only one remote is needed instead of two. The streaming stick can be powered by a USB port on the TV and that allowed me to eliminate the separate power wire that must go to a 115VAC receptacle on the wall that is required for the Express units.

I’m considering updating all of my units to streaming sticks. The voice remote works, but I never use it because I find it to be more reliable to push the buttons on the remote because the results from a voice command are not exactly predictable.

It works, but one must practice different voice commands to achieve a desired outcome.

This is the first time I purchased an Apple TV after using two versions of Amazon FireStick and I must say this is just miles better in every single way. Firstly its very fast and smooth without any lag or hiccups when making selections or browsing for content in Netflix or Prime.

The picture and sound quality are superb and even has an option that matches the original frame rate and colour space of the film or TV programme to give you the best possible viewing experience. The device itself is reassuringly heavy and there are only 3 ports at the back for power, HDMI and Ethernet.

At the front there is a tiny white LED when it is powered on. The sides are made from a black shiny plastic which gives is a nice slick look. Internally it supports the latest tech such as HDMI 2. 1, 1G Ethernet, Bluetooth 5.

0, Wi-Fi 6 802. 11ax, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. The remote is solid and made from aluminum and has all the buttons you need including a Siri button for voice commands, which is a joy to use. The only negative is the high price.

But then if you want the best streaming device nothing else comes close. Recommended.

I bought this as an upgrade to another streaming device I bought for £30. I honestly don’t know where to start with this device. Firstly Siri only brings up its own content and stuff from a few other services.

Although the device supports Netflix, Disney+ and Prime apps, Siri does not show content from these apps only it’s own content and a few other lesser known apps. This is very disappointing as other, cheaper mainstream devices offer cross service voice search functionality.

Considering the price of the device this is a a big disappointment. Also streaming video from phone and iPad is glitchy at best ( I have a top of the range Wi-Fi router) and also the remote doesn’t work with my TV even though it supports the hdmi protocol that is needed to make it work.

My TV is brand new – no idea why it doesn’t work but lots of people online talking about having similar issues. If you want a really restricted experience that is designed to push you to apple content then this device is for you.

Otherwise I would strongly urge you to save your money.

Having tried various streaming services across different devices and platforms, the Apple TV 4K is easily the most stable and reliable of them all. It may be the most expensive but if you’ve spent a lot of money already on decent audio visual kit, the Apple TV 4K also offers the best image and sound quality of any I’ve tried.

The ability to match frame rates and dynamic range of the source material means you get to see movies in the form they were intended to be seen at the cinema, at the correct speed and with the best colour reproduction.

Dolby Vision content in particular looks spectacular on a decent OLED or high-spec LCD TV. Compared to Sky Cinema’s UHD HDR movie content, the Apple TV 4K is in a different league when showing 4K HDR movies bought or rented via iTunes.

Hooked up via a home cinema amplifier, Dolby Atmos encoded movies & TV shows are absolutely sensational with full, rounded, multi-dimensional sound. All the main UK catch-up services are available – BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4 etc.

and integrate well with the Apple TV operating system. The BBC iPlayer can’t unfortunately show UHD content like it can on many iPlayer apps built into TVs but this will hopefully be updated by Apple in the future.

HD content upscaled by the Apple TV 4K all looks fantastic, really can’t fault it. Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ also show movies and TV shows in pin-sharp 4K with HDR. The Siri remote works extremely well.

You can simply say something like ‘play the next episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ and it will automatically open iPlayer and start playing the next episode. Very simple and extremely quick too. If you own other Apple devices like an iPhone or iPad then it’s easy to view any photos or videos you have on there on your TV screen.

It works well with a snappy interface and plenty of available apps. Probably the best of breed streaming box, but. If you don’t game, save money & get the 32GB version. Extra memory offers no advantage for streaming or performance.

The remote control is really good, especially the pseudo-jog wheel function and Siri voice integration. It’s also not infrared from what I can tell so you don’t need to point it accurately. It doesn’t have any separate digital audio out which makes it less flexible with older HT amps like mine.

It’s all via a single HDMI out. Setup is ridiculously easy if you already have an iPhone; just hold it near the ATV and it sets up networking and account details magically! ATV+ is a bandwidth hog but it results in excellent quality streaming video though there’s not a huge library yet.

It’s unfortunately expensive and you’re a captive to it if you want Airplay2 casting from the Apple ecosystem (for now anyway). Really only worth it for Apple die-hards.

I have had a FireTV Box for many years, then switched to an Apple TV 4K because the Fire TV slows way down so that you have to keep buying new ones. When both entered into politics, I switched to the Roku Ultra 2020 to get rid of the Apple and Amazon interfaces.

I like the Roku remote vs the other two. It fits the hand better, and the fact that it has a power button releases me from having to have my TV remote available as well. Then for as much as I tried to like Roku, the interface is horrible.

I shouldn’t have to select a show or movie, to see the rating, year, run time, and the description. There’s plenty of screen real estate to show all the info I want to see by highlighting a show or movie while browsing for something to watch without having to select it.

The Amazon Prime and Apple TV interface do this very well. This alone dives me away from Roku. Another very aggravating issue with Roku is the fact that it always starts back at the home screen. I have a bunch of pay services such as HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, STARZ, and so on, and I better pay attention to where I was while watching a show or movie when I decide to stop and finish it later.

With Roku, I have no idea where I was or what I was watching if it’s a day or two later. The Amazon interface will always come back up where I left off. Another huge complaint I have with the Roku is the speed, especially when trying to skip backwards to replay what I just saw or forwards to skip ahead 10 seconds or more.

Roku takes forever! Often it never does get there and just sits forever with the spinning circle telling you it’s working on it. I am hearing impaired and use closed captioning, and often have to skip back 10 seconds for a replay.

Roku fails MISERABLY at this. So, sad to say as I paid $80 for this Roku, I switched back to the Apple TV with it’s lightning fast speed and the Amazon Prime interface, and I just received the new Apple TV Remote which I like way better than the original too-small remote with the super-sensitive touch pad.

I purchased the Ultra to upgrade from our old Roku Express that was about 8 years old and was having functionality issues (running too slowly, booting us off of apps for no reason). The Ultra was a great upgrade–everything loads super fast comparatively, and it supports channels that our old Express did not, like Peacock.

The voice command is nice for entering passwords etc. but we also aren’t too lazy to press buttons to navigate where we need. The headphones are a nice option, though I’m not 100% sure how much we will use them.

Nice to have in case one of us wants to sleep while the other watches a show. I like that the remote can control the volume and power of the TV, and is rechargeable too–no more replacing batteries. All in all, we are super happy with our upgrade to the Ultra.

No complaints.

Hooked up to first television. Kept saying HDMI cable issue. Changed cable. Same problem. Moved to second television. Started with no signal. Pressed home button and came on. Selected channel. HDMI issue again.

Turn off and back on and works fine. We have several TV’s with other Roku devices. None have these issues. It’s going back to the store.

IšverstiShow in original languageI purchased the Streaming Stick+ after having repeated difficulties and problems with the Amazon Fire TV Stick. The difference in quality between these two products is astounding.

While the Fire TV Stick required constant reboots and had consistently poor network performance, the Roku has been flawless and completely without problems. The addition of 4K support is a huge bonus.

I’m especially impressed with the connectivity. My room, where I’m using the device, is on a different floor, on the other side of the house from our router, but I’ve never had an issue with connectivity or performance.

The menu/interface is a little outdated, but I’d gladly sacrifice a flashy menu for good performance. It’s astounding to me what a bad product the Fire TV Stick was now that I’ve switched to Roku. I enjoy the wide selection of channels as well – every streaming service seems to be available through Roku.

The voice functionality on the remote works well, and I like that I can turn my TV on and off with the Roku remote as well as adjust the volume. All in all it’s an awesome product.

IšverstiShow in original languageI purchased this during a black Friday sale and must say that for the price ($29. 99 when purchased) this is an amazing value. I bought this to replace an aging 2017 era Roku Premiere 4K (non HDR version) which was starting to feel sluggish and not as responsive as it once did.

The Streaming Stick 4K is much more compact (a dongle versus a countertop box) and can be plugged directly into the HDMI port so you don’t even need an HDMI cable to use it. Having said that, I needed an HDMI extender cable, which is not included in the package.

Roku does offer you that you can order one for free though, but if you ask me they should have just included it in the box. Other than that minor gripe, this is a really great value for the money, even at it’s $49.

99 retail price. Do try and get it though when on sale as the value is just way better. Speaking of features and usability the Streaming Stick 4K offers the updated Roku enhanced remote (the mid tier model, aka the one without the always on mic and rechargeable battery) which can also control the power and volume controls on your TV.

This is great because on one of the televisions I have uses the Roku as a pseudo cable box (we have Spectrum and use the Roku app) so not having to look for and use multiple remotes to control the TV is pretty nice.

The UI is typical Roku, so if you’ve used a Roku in the past it’s pretty much the same as before (NOT a bad thing!). If this is your first time using Roku just know the UI is pretty basic but again, that can be a good thing, especially for folks who may not be tech savvy.

All in all I’m giving this Roku 5 stars because of it’s value overall. It’s a typical Roku experience but for the money it’s tough competition for the likes of Apple TV (of which I also own), especially when you can get the Apple TV+ app on Roku.

If you’re looking for a streaming box/stick and are on a budget you can’t go wrong with Roku!.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis is the 3rd Roku I have purchased. I have the oldest “shelf-top” Roku device with a remote that allows me to plug in some earphones without getting up. The jack is on the side of the remote.

This one is in the man-cave so when my wife wants to go to bed early, I’m not killing her with my Klipsch speakers LOL. The second Roku is a slightly smaller box that I was able to stick to the bottom of the TV – and is nearly invisible.

I like this one because it has the added option of turning on/off the TV with the Roku remote. This one is in the bedroom. This latest purchase is a simply stick, attached to the HDMI Port 2, and has recently become our go-to device instead of the set-top box with Android installed.

The remote is good, volume button controls the TV Vol, and not some arbitrary control within the stick itself. This presents one with a greater range of volume when one wants. The Mute button is right below the volume and is handy for phone calls, etc.

The only thing I wish was that I could attach a finger-mouse (2. 4Ghz or BT), but this stick is too small for external ports. However, that being said, this stick is now on our large TV in the Living Room for everyone to utilize.

I wish Roku made some reasonably priced Set-Top boxes with external ports for memory/devices, however, we are quite happy with this latest purchase – it does what it advertises and has many “surprises” with the settings I think folks will like.

And all the “free” TV shows and Movies on the Roku Channel are a Bonus! 4. 5/5 ☼’s.

Die Einrichtung ist ebenso denkbar einfach, Schritt für Schritt wird man angeleitet und nach dem Erstellen eines Roku Kontos kann es auch schon losgehen. Einer der für mich größten Vorteile gegenüber den, ebenso sehr guten Fire TV Sticks ist, dass die Benutzeroberfläche unglaublich aufgeräumt ist und sehr simpel gehalten ist, hier findet sich jeder zurecht.

Man kann seine bevorzugten Apps prominent auf der Startseite platzieren und diese dann schnell anwählen, sofern sie sich nicht wie z. B. Netflix sowieso schon auf der Fernbedienung befinden. Die Fernbedienung ist ok, aber nicht außergewöhnliches.

TV Ton kann darüber gesteuert werden, sodass man solange man sich in der Roku Welt bewegt keine andere braucht. Kleiner Wermutstropfen ist, dass ein paar Apps noch nicht verfügbar sind, das mag aber auch daran liegen, dass Roku erst seit kurzem auf dem deutschen Markt ist.

Ich spreche hier z. B. von den Magenta TV, Zattoo oder skyQ Apps. Die Bildqualität auf meinem LG OLED ist sehr gut. Mit 4K, HDR sowie Dolby Vision sind alle wichtigen Dinge vertreten und somit steht einem super Bild nichts im Weg.

Alles in allem finde ich den Stick echt überzeugend und würde ihn Stand heute jederzeit wieder wählen.

IšverstiShow in original languageI’m still settling in with this, but so far so good. First things first: The hardest thing was plugging in the power cord to the back of the TV. It is a polarized plug and the receptacle is inset on the back of the TV.

No biggie (so I thought). For whatever reason, the plug would NOT go into the receptacle. Finally after a half hour of trying, I finally got it in. I think there must have been some manufacturing defect preventing it from entering, but I can’t swear to that.

I even got out flashlights and mirrors to make sure I was doing it in the corrct polarity. After that, I was finally able to power on, at which point I set up the network and password, and it proceeds to do a software update.

At first it went OK, but then locked up and told me there was a slow network, so check on it, which I did. No problem with other devices, but I powered the TV off and on, and then it proceeded. But then it got stuck again and told me to check the network.

At that point I rebooted the router, and it restarted. It then continued to do several software updates and powered on and off several times. Finally, I was able to get to see the TV and check it out for a few minutes.

I then powere off for about a half hour to do something else, then powered back on, at which point it did a software update on my remote control (what the heck?). But now that all the updates have been done, it appears to be working fine.

I am very happy (so far) with the quality of the sound and picture. I still have to finalize some connections to Blu-ray, digital optical out, etc. But so far, so good once I got past the initial hassles.

Worst part was defitely the power cord which you would think would be a 5 second thing. I will have to unplug it and try plugging it back in several times to see if the problem is solved. For now, I was afraid to unplug it until I could check the TV beacus they only give you 15 days to return it, and it has already been 9 days since I got it and this is the first time I’ve been able to turn it on.

15 day return is not long enough!!! If all goes well from here out I may return to this review and update it to 5 stars.

IšverstiShow in original languagePurchased this to replace a bedroom tv that was just slightly too small after mounting to wall. I am very familiar with video and audio equipment, so when I say I am highly satisfied so far, that means a lot.

You will need to tamp down the preset advanced settings but once you dial in, this tv looks very good for the price point. I am also impressed with just how good the installed speakers sound on increased bass.

This used to be a weak point, years back, but not with this unit. This has Fire TV integrated and has the same storage as the Fire Cube. I am a cord cutter, so this was added value. I have installed my streaming service and IPTV apps and this thing runs smooth as butter.

Very happy with my first Insignia purchase, especially for a bedroom tv. I won’t be playing Xbox Series X, or watching a lot of movies, I have a media room w 100” screen, so for what I will use this for, it is perfect, looks great and sounds very good.

IšverstiShow in original languageI currently own 2 older Insignia’s and these TVs have proven to be indestructible. I currently have a 12 year old one hanging outside that works great. and I live in Buffalo! My friend and I who have the same 12 year old one joke about it’s durability.

The picture and value is unbeatable for this brand. I figured I’d upgrade the bedroom TV and buy this TV during the Black Friday sale. The picture is great and value is amazing. I had to return my first one due to a hardware issue but I returned it for a new replacement.

I’m extremely hopeful that my experience with the first one was a fluke and that this one, like my other Insignia’s, will hold up for a long, long time. Set up is super easy. I’m not a fan of the Amazon platform so I just plug in the Roku 4K stick.

The picture and the interface has been flawless.

With the help of USB hub you can turn this device into Gaming station with Wireless Game Pad and at the same time add a Storage of upto 32 GB via pendrive. High graphic games like Asphalt 8 will run smoothly.

You can side load so many games , just search in YouTube. You can turn this device into anything that you desire it to be with the help of apps, Bluetooth and a little bit of storage. Streaming from OTT apps are easy as long as you have subscriptions.

Google voice based search is a breeze and picks local accent easily.

Pros: Its tiny and comes with bluetooth. can connect with almost all soundbar and wireless speakers. Cons: There is no option for close app. Mi box start hanging on second start. Then you need to reset box through pressing turn off switch on remote for 5 seconds and its takes 3 mins to fully load app.

Lack of apps in play store for this tv box. Like no chrome browser or file manager or music player app. You need to install it through unknown sources from other device through wifi sharing.

Was very difficult to find apps for this that work. Had to scour the free android APK sites to get older versions of apps that this supports, like the Amazon Prime Video. Some apps will only work with an air mouse, which I had to buy separately.

And after auto updates, official apps started to malfunction when it came to their system integration, such as video bookmarks. Things like voice assistant aren’t fully formed but this platform does have a future, and the User Interface is quick and looks good.

I recommend this to geeky types for now, who know their way around the Android ecosystem, but it won’t please those who consume a lot of streaming video and music services. This OS is undercooked, but will be better in a couple years.
