We visited New Orleans this past summer and had their signature cocktail. Since we were driving to Glacier National Park and had little space in the car, we decided to order the Sazerac online after we were home.

This cocktail is absolutely delicious. The Sazerac we ordered from Bottle Haus was the exact same one served in the Roosevelt Hotel bar. I believe the price was probably the same as if we went to the store in NO to buy it there.

I so appreciate that we could get such high quality liquor from Bottle Haus. It was safely delivered very quickly.

Sazerac is one of the finer Ryes available at any cost. It’s clean, has a fresh grassy rye flavor, not minty like some ryes, and it never disappoints. It’s not for lovers of Canadian Ryes that are so smooth you can’t taste the familiar American Rye bite, but the bite is just like a bit of pepper on the end.

Not overwhelming and folks that don’t like ryes will like Sazerac.

Supremely-well packaged bottles. Even after watching the delivery driver toss the box onto my front porch through my camera the bottles were unharmed! Totally recommend for anyone searching for hard to find products! Grateful in Georgia.

Southern Comfort has always been my favorite Spirit drink. I love it on the rocks for the sheer pleasure of the warm, sweet, spicy taste that doesn’t burn, but is so soothing all the way down. My second choice is with Coke over ice as well; lastly, even plain out of the bottle is good without ice.

I do wish that I could buy Liters instead of 5ths! Because the price is always a bit lower.

This is not my particular favorite, but I use it quite a bit in alot of cocktails. It’s slight peachy flavor means it can be used in fruity drinks, or just neat. It’s not super expensive either. Here’s a great recipe using this liqueur that delicious! PINK FLOYD 1oz.

Southern Comfort 1oz. Amaretto. Equal parts orange and pineapple juice, Top with grenadine and shake until frothy. Garnish with cherries and enjoy!.

My favourite liquor. One of a kind, haven’t had anything come close to the delicious flavour this drink has. I like to serve it with lemonade and a slice of lime. Great value, better when it’s on sale so I can stock up! Would buy again.

When you are looking for smooth, delicious, whiskey drink, guys, grab a bottle of Jack Daniels old #7. I have enjoyed several whiskeys to get the perfect drink of choice for me, and nothing, nothing, I’ll repeat again, nothing beats the finest Tennessee whiskey, Jack Daniels.

His name is big because it’s the good stuff. I’m not an alcoholic, in fact I don’t drink often, handful of times a year I’ll enjoy a couple of drinks in an adult fashion. Jack is always my go to choice.

Jack Daniels used to be all the rage when I was younger. But as time goes on you realise it’s not the most special drink in the world. It’s a typical American whisky. Would be a bourbon but I don’t believe it’s made in the right state.

If only they tried to do something different. I guess they do have there charcoal filtering but that’s about it really. Nothing special, can probably find the same quality of drink for cheaper else where.

Great bourbon for the price point. I get the 1. 75L for around $58-64. It’s an interesting bourbon when you break it down with notes of dried fruit, maybe agave and/or plum, cinnamon, black pepper and charred oak.

It becomes more interesting when the heat of early summer in the Mid-Atlantic warms ut a few degrees. Then it’s nose and palette are full of dried fruit, moreso agave flavor and smell. EC is great for the regular, budget-minded bourbon snob.

For a reference point, it’s kind of like Larceny but fuller and richer, and with less burn. Special sidebar note: If your budget is more Larceny than EC, just put a couple drops of water in it and it becomes EC extra lite.

It took me a little over twenty years to find my “number one”. That “go to brand” that I don’t even have to think twice about when I’m shopping to restock my liquor cabinet. I became loyal to the brand about thirteen years ago.

I was a bit disappointed when the 12 year old became a blend of 8 to 12 year old but for the same price with only just a bit more bite I’m still a happy camper. Besides, as that was due to the brand becoming so popular that they had to start making a blend using lesser aged, what does that tell you? It’s sippin’ whiskey.

Goes so well with a cola, ginger ale, or an ice tea as a back. You can spend more money but unless it’s a pretense to impress someone that thinks money is the be all, and end all, of existence you”ll find that there’s little, if anything, to be gained form doing so.

I’ve been trying different bourbons for about the past year, attempting to discover what fits my palette best. I’m a huge Widow Jane 10-year fan. I must admit that considering the simple hints of cherry and vanilla that hit strongest at the beginning, ending with a buttery smooth caramel tinge, the complexity is super impressive.

Especially considering this price point. I drink my bourbon with a couple cubes of ice. I’ve had all sorts of bourbons from Four Roses, EH Taylor, Blantons (amazing BTW), to Heavens Door and Angels Envy over the past 6-8 months.

Bulleit doesn’t put them all to shame but dang if it doesn’t give each of them a run for their money. Whatever Bulleit does in their distillation process, it works, and works wonders. There’s a reason this bourbon is so highly rated by customers.

Do yourself a favor and grab a bottle. Even if it’s just your Friday night mixer. For an extra $4 over the Jack Daniels, I can only imagine how much better this would be. for those who like their bourbon mixed.

I have lived all my life within 40 miles of the major, well-known distilleries of true Kentucky Bourbon. And I like to share our products with friends. This order with Total Wine was sent to the Los Angeles, CA, area.

It’s great to sit at my home computer and order a gift for a friend across the country. And, he didn’t mind picking it up at the store!!.

Right now, the Persian gulf is held up by supply chain issues and the fine sand used to make the bottles is hard to come by so this will be in low supply. Personally I think that this bourbon is better and will surpass Jack Daniels as the premier brown liquor of the u.

Me and my husband took our annual, anniversary bourbon trail trip and Bulleit was on the list. Had the orange label bourbon in mixed drinks but never drank it neat. Drove up on a nice, country road with a large Bulleit sign next to an old barn (loved this).

Pulled up the drive to the facility and noticed a few corn hole boards to welcome the guests and friendly employees welcoming you as you walk in. Tastefully decorated modern/frontier sitting room with tattoo artists displayed for Bulleit art.

Ashley was our tour guide. She was energetic, knowledgeable and efficient. the grounds were well-maintained and eco friendly (loved this as well). They are earth conscious in all that they do from ensuring they don’t overuse water to solar powered gates/lights and propane fueled shuttles that are decorated by local tattoo artists (nice touch).

The distillery was very clean. They re-purpose the left-over mash and barrels (many distilleries do this but always appreciated). Only down-side was wearing a mask. I don’t think it should be a requirement and was less than pleased about this.

After the tour, we had time to sit in the beautiful sitting room (tastefully decorated with good quality, high end furnishings) and shop in the gift shop. Literally the best distillery gift shop I’ve ever been in.

Many made in the USA products and items from local artisans. There were locally made coffee mugs, bags from WA, dog collars and key chains made from locals, Faribault blankets (WHAT?? love this), and beautiful ladies southern hats (didn’t have my size 🙁 ).

Wish I had more time here but will definitely be back next year.

Sorry – the reviews show 4+ stars and none of that makes any sense. I’m not trusting these reviews, they look like they were all written by a handful of marketing people and not Rye whiskey drinkers.

This rye is has no complexity whatsoever. It’s whiskey. It’s not bad whiskey but it might as well have been well whiskey in a dive bar. I love Rye – and two of my faves are at a lower price point than this.

they are complex with specific taste notes. THIS. is one dimensional and very disappointing. Many of the reviews addressed mixed drinks, and I don’t do mixed drinks. again. my bad. I should have read the reviews instead of viewing the overall rating.

93 points from Wine Enthusiast ??? In my opinion that rating is not a blind tasting. that’s a business deal. Wine Enthusiast is not (in my opinion) reliable at all – it always seems that it’s connected to the advertising.

These reviews indicate they came from another source. not Total Wine customers. I do not believe the reviews here are genuine. Just my opinion based on the fact that this whiskey has no complexity whatsoever.

With over 100 bottles in my bar, I have to be selective about replacing inventory that I like with something new and untried. Had heard from a friend that this bottle was worth a go so I picked it up before a New Years vacation with 4 serious whiskey lovers.

This bottle was very good and I would say a good value at its price point. The mid-palate was all candy corn and toffee for me with a hint of buttered bread, and a mild finish of spice that was not overpowering gives it a warm tail.

Open it up with a drop of water and serve in a Glencairn glass and you will find the bottom of this bottle before you expected.

I’m gonna stop giving good reviews to spirits. This was a good choice at $16. 49. After I gave it a 5 star review for the $16. 49 price point Total Wine jacked the price up two bucks. I dropped my rating from a 5 down to a 3 because at this price there are other rye whiskeys that you should consider before paying $18.

49 for this one. I wish Total Wine would stop jacking up the price on whiskeys that get good ratings because they are priced right.

Old Overholt rye whiskey was originally made in Pennsylvania. It was bought out by the largest whiskey and spirits provider in the world and is now being made in Kentucky in the same facility that Jim Beam is made.

The whiskey goes all the way back through America’s history. It was the favorite whiskey of presidents and legendary Doc Holliday. My families whiskey company went out of business and was picked back up to be made from the same recipe that our three times great grandfather created in 1810.

It’s a reliable good rye whiskey with good tones. Try it as an old Overholt old-fashioned. Delicious.

Lots of buzz already surrounding this whiskey despite it being fairly new on the market. I’m here to set the record straight. Does it taste like the original Overholt? Yes, but better. (More alcohol equals more flavor, lads.

) Does it really taste more like a bourbon than a true rye? Yep. This one is sweeter than most people will expect from a whiskey category which is mostly known for being dry, spicy, peppery. I picked up notes of molasses and (if you can believe it) birch-beer on Overholt Bonded’s nose, and lots of sweet corn on its palate.

So it’s not as sweet as a true bourbon and not as dry as most ryes. probably a great way for drinkers of one to try the other, and quite versatile for cocktails. (Though I drink it neat so I wouldn’t know.

) Is it better than Rittenhouse 100? No. Especially if you need your ryes to be really punchy and power with their spicy flavors, because as I said, this one is very sweet and bourbon-like (and so smooth for 100 proof).

But Rittenhouse costs $10 more than this. So Overholt is the obvious choice if you’re trying to live the high life while also being a broke college kid. or you care more about value than pure quality.

Been purchasing at TW in Denton TX. Awesome!! I buy for my friends when I visit my son. The TW in Lafayette LA doesn’t carry it. Purchased 14 bottles on one trip. Great stuff. Good price.

I’ve been fortunate to live within a few miles of the Witherspoons (now Bendt) facility. I am a serious Old Fashion snob and very VERY few bartenders make them right and tasty. Witherspoons (now Bendt) makes what is simply the absolute best premixed OF I’ve been able to find after many years of searching.

So if your one who enjoys a dang good sipping beverage without the effort of self made then this is for you. I keep a bottle in my fridge for a nightly sip and have not yet found a bourbon snob who hadn’t fallen in love with this.

Bendt don’t let us down. Keep this beverage coming. (On a side not made two more fans of this brew while on a business trip to London and they now love/hate as they will have to find a way to get it shipped here.

This is a very good Old Fashioned Bourbon Drink. All of the ingredients are included. I enjoyed the taste. Somewhat sweet, but enjoyable. It is a refreshing change.

I actually had this in Kentucky at the distiller. It was cheaper there 13 dollars but well worth 30 in California. It’s a good sipper or mixer. Very mild and good entry level bourbon.

A great, little-known (and not easy to find) bourbon. This review is based on a neat pour (i. e. , no ice, water, mixer, etc. ). There is a moment of heat at the front with smoke and cinnamon and then it quickly “cools” into a smooth vanilla and leather.

The longer it sat in the glass, opening up to the air, the more mellow it became — an excellent sipper. Very reminiscent of Makers 46. This is a recommended buy for the money. You won’t be disappointed.

I absolutely love these delicious candies. They are always a great treat to munch on while watching TV, on a car ride, or anything really. Other than other candies that I have tried, all of the flavors are great.

I would definitely buy them over again.

I’ve had a lot of bourbons over the years and have made this my only bourbon I buy and drink now. First off, it’s made with non GMO corn! That’s a huge deal to me. On top of that, it’s 50. 5 % alcohol! Last but most important, it taste great! It’s got everything I want in a whiskey at a very modest price.

Seriously, why pay more? Just hope the price doesn’t keep creeping up? If it does, I’ll keep buying it cause everything else will have as well.

There are several types of bourbon, each one serving a specific & special purpose. Like a date with an attractive woman, you can enjoy spending hours of complex conversation with. That’s why Four Roses came into existence.

Then there’s that date when everything is destined to have a Wild Turkey 101 ending. Just my way of saying this whiskey has the best finish of any I’ve ever consumed.

Not gonna lie at first it was a little Hot because I’m relatively new. But after a few glasses here and there I’m now acclimated. Let me tell you wow, you really taste the difference between an 80 or 90 proof and this.

It’s an absolute caramel bomb and pretty sweet. I’ll always keep it around. Goes great in cocktails too, actually stands up. But I have to say I recommend it neat.

I have no idea why some people say that Old Crow is rotgut. I actually tried the Reserve first and the standard Old Crow after that, because I really love the reserve. The standard Old Crow is thinner and not as rich and oaky as the reserve, and drier too.

More astringent, and one thing that I find especially attractive about this bourbon is the presence of a flavor similar to anise (liquorice). Unfortunately, this is beginning to fade as the bottle has been open for a few days, but I thoroughly enjoyed it at first.

Still, a great bourbon value and one that I might feel compelled to return to. This is a Beam product, made with the same mashbill as Jim Beam. It is aged 3 years, one year less than Jim Beam white. Old Crow Reserve is aged for four years, same as JB white, but is bottled at a higher proof than JB.

Even though they are all basically the same whiskey, they each have unique characteristics. I suspect that Old Crow comes from the ‘so-so’ batches of JB. However, it is still a tasty, very drinkable bourbon.

The good: it actually does very well as a mixer! It doesn’t hit too hard and it finishes pretty smooth with Coke. A lot better than I had expected, especially at this price point. $16 for 1. 75 litres is a steal! The bad: Not amazing for shots.

Drinking this straight is pretty tolerable as it doesn’t burn much considering its alcohol content, but the flavour isn’t very appealing on its own. Still. two back-to-back shots of this made me more tipsy than anything else has; never expected that, very impressive!.

Not a bad bourbon, just not a lot to recommend it. Rather insipid and lacking in distinction of any quarter; which is sometimes confused with being “smooth”! When I tried it I was hoping it would be an acceptable substitute for the somewhat difficult-to-find Old Crow Reserve, which I DO recommend.

It fails to make that grade. OK to mix, but I’d give the tip of the Ranger hat to Evan Williams in this price range.

This review is for the 2021 barrel select cask strength Smooth Ambler old scout from Total Wine in Miami Fl. First thing to note is unfortunately the age statement has been cut nearly in half. This is aged only 5 years instead of 9 as bottles of this used to be a few years back (the pic on this site still shows the 9yr age statement but it’s actually 5) Notes: on the nose i get sweet corn, vanilla and baked peaches, almost like a peach muffin and I’ve heard people get like a juicy fruit gum note on whiskeys before but this is the first time i do and it is so prevalent on the nose! The palate brings some creaminess, almost milkshake-y and some candy sweetness.

It’s low proof for a cask strength, coming in a fraction above 114proof and does not at all drink hot. All in all it’s just okay if you like lighter, sweeter bourbons (not my thing) but i do feel it has potential to get better after breathing for a few weeks.

Love this bourbon. I really like high rye bourbons and this is the best yet. You can definitely taste the heat and spice of the rye, yet the bourbon is very smooth and sweet. The best of both worlds.

Well worth the price. The Copper Still High Rye was my favorite, but now this is the choice. Highly recommended.

I came across this Total Wine store pick and decided to roll the dice. I have enjoyed Old Scout’s 10 year bourbon and was intrigued by the description of this product – a blend of 12 year bourbon from Indiana (I suspect MGP bourbon) and 6 year American Whiskey from Tennessee (I suspect George Dickel) bottled at 53.

5% (107 proof). I have had three separate pours and have enjoyed the whiskey each time, but in my opinion, proportionally, there is far more 6-year old whiskey in this blend than 12-year bourbon. There is a strong youthful ‘prickle’ (roughness) on the nose and palate.

This is not entirely an unappealing trait, but at the $40 price-point, I personally feel it is a bit too rough. If the price was $30 or less, I would give this whiskey a fourth star. Neat, both the nose and taste have a strong rye influence.

I get a fair amount of spice and butterscotch as well as a strong alcohol punch. There is also a mild smell of wood, but no where near as strong as a typical bourbon. Adding water does help mellow the youthful prickle/roughness and alcohol punch, but with water a very slight woody-astringent and even wet cardboard smell crept up.

The finish was medium length for me with rye-spiciness and a slight sweetness lingering pleasantly after each sip. This is a fun whiskey to try, but in my opinion it is overpriced. For $30 this would be a fun purchase to have on the bar to taste alongside other bourbons and Tennessee whiskeys, but at $40 there are more well-rounded choices on the shelf.

I really enjoy the OF 100. You get a nice punch of flavor for $25. I definitely get the cornbread, cinnamon, vanilla, and just a touch of dark chocolate. The finish is medium and slightly spicy. The obvious competitors are Wild Turkey 101, Evan Williams BIB, and Old Grand Dad 100.

The Old Forester 100 is not “better” or “worse” than those other offerings. It’s just different. I would say that the back end bite is a bit smoother than WT 101 and on par with OGD 100 & EV BIB. Would I buy it again? Absolutely.

This the least expensive Old Forrester bottle I’ve purchased and I gotta say I prefer the more expensive versions. 1910 is my favorite for its smooth finish and great taste. Compared to that one, this 100proof version is a bit harsh on the finish.

The nose is pure maple syrup and light vanilla, taste on the tongue is a bit astringent, and the finish is pure cherry cough syrup. Considering the 1910 & 1920 bottles are double the price, I would rather pay more knowing I’m getting a much better tasting whisky.

Old Forrester: the original bartenders handshake, or the Kentucky handshake, which ever you prefer to call it. This is the best, and original bourbon of the United States. The old is Brandon existence.

You cannot find a better bottle of bourbon to keep on your back bar, that you don’t have to cringe when people mix with Coke. Their higher tears are even better, especially if you can magically get your hands on a bottle of birthday bourbon.

Makes a great old-fashioned, Manhattan, just about anything you can throw at it, it will stand up to. If you’re looking for a nice spicy cake they also make a Rye that’s around the same price point.

I generally buy Bulleit Bourbon or Rye and Make my own Manhattans, Boulevardiers, Old Pals and Al Capones. Saw this and thought it was worth a try. Glad I did. It is excellent with either Orange rind or cherry garnish or both.

I’ve tried several other premixed cocktails before but this one takes the cake! Delicious and smooth. Definitely will be stocked on my bar. Taste as good or better than buying one at a bar.

Was great. Two people showed up on the doorstep carrying a bag of booze. Had a couple laughs and they left. Drank the bottle, laughed some more, then cried.

Jim beam rye made with the pre-prohibition era recipe. This is perfect for making a good old fashioned. It’s dryer than a regular bourbon which is the way it’s supposed to be because of the ingredients in the drink.

It’s a bit pricier than the regular Jim beam so I don’t get it all the time but it’s well worth it. If you love the old fashioned drink, try making it with this. A+.

I have bought this rye several times now. It is good, especially for the price. My favorite is Crown Royal rye but it is too expensive and Canadian Club, which Total Wine used to carry but doesn’t anymore.

The Jim Beam has a good, mellow flavor that I like either on the rocks or in a mixed drink.

Of the ryes I’ve tasted I’ve noticed that there are generally 2 types of rye whiskies: The lighter and more complex newer school ryes, or the rugged and rougher old school ryes. This one definitely is an old school rye, as the name says.

Dry, hot, spicy, and a little rough, but yet has a smoothness, richness, and slight sweetness that is common to Jim Beam. It’s not overly complex but is pretty straightforward. I appreciate the commitment to preserving this old style that goes back pre prohibition.

This is the kind whiskey that our great grandfathers would have drank. Definitely a real man’s whiskey.

Number Seven, Jack Black, or just Jack Daniel’s; I’ve never heard it called Jack Daniel’s Black. Jack Daniel’s is a classic, and almost in it’s own category. Stars are subjective- this is NOT a top-of-the-line-hand-crafted-small-batch-organically-sourced-artisinal-bourbon.

But it IS an Excellent value for taste vs price. It’s an affordable and good quality choice for regular consumption. It is flexible- sips well (especially over ice), and is priced at a point you don’t feel like you are “wasting” it when mixing into cola.

The nose is a little vanilla pepper; an initial bite that mellows quickly to reveal a bit of toffee/caramel. I also heard someone say that it tastes like paint stripper- but this is my review, and I like it.

All Kentucky liquor is off my shopping list: Tennessee whiskey is my go-to. Uncle Nearest & George Dickle (9YO Single Barrel!!) are indeed “better/more complex” choices, but come at a noticeably higher price.

I’ve been close to John since I could first put a glass to my lips. maybe it was because it was Frank Sinatra’s drink of choice but whatever I acquired a taste for Jack and its never let me down. Straight, on the rocks or with a mixer it never disappoints, although some find it has a little after taste I find it smooth and mellow throughout.

It’s a wonderful pre dinner or post dinner drink and it goes well all alone on its own at the end of a good evening. Salute !.

Proud a bourbon like this exists! For a small batch whiskey I’d put it up against any of the sought after whiskies. Hard to beat the consistency & price.

I like mine with a little less sugar and a little more on the citrus and bitters, but it’s pretty darn good. Normally these premixed cocktails are failure sauce, but this one manages to taste somewhat legit.

I bought this today instead of buying Handy & Schiller…glad I did! Great flavor…easy to drink!

Big fan of this bourbon. Spent the night making old fashions for a group and they were fantastic. It’s smooth, and delicious. This is a prime example of “you get what you pay for”. Definitely a premium bourbon and made for sipping on its own, or in a cocktail like an old fashioned.

If you’re making an elaborate cocktail, you can afford to get something less premium. But if you want something good, this is a great choice 👌🏼.

I would say this one fit the mold of average for this price range. I’ve had a lot at this price point and there is nothing wrong with it. It’s rather flat on the nose. There is a light earthy scent but also a hint of cherry.

There’s a smokey palate that is smooth but it moved into a surprisingly strong burn in the finish. It’s not long, though, so it doesn’t linger. In the end, there’s nothing that makes this stand out from other bourbons at this price range for me.

There’s nothing wrong with drinking it and I’ll drink more, I have no doubt. But if I’m buying at this price range, I still like Woodford Reserve Double Batch. but that’s because I like butterscotch.

Wow. Just WOW. At first, I didn’t know what to think. Somewhat new to the bourbon world, I love spicy intakes and oak finishes. And this at first, just seemed like, ew, bitter and then herbal aftertaste.

But my body wasn’t rejecting it, I kept on wanting to know what I was tasting. About half a bottle down. I think I have a pretty good idea now. And now, oh my, and now this is definitely the most complex and wonderful bourbon I’ve gotten so far.

This has been a wonderful learning experience because it’s opened up my palate to really disguising the vast amount of flavors that come from bourbon. And this is what this bourbon made me realize, a lot of the other bourbons I’ve had were just, simple, or maybe I’m just becoming more experienced with my taste buds, but either way, I think this is an amazing bourbon and it makes me eager to try more and see what other experiences there are out there.

And finally to the review. With this, it wasn’t just taste in, taste done. The nose hit me with this kind of sweet apple/peach smell, which was complimented by the intake, but then turned to dark bitter fruits, possibly plum, and then for a second cherry.

And then the bitter notes start to come, and this one took me a while to get. First it hits you with the tobacco, then I get a strong herbal/green tea kind of taste with a long leathery finish. The great thing is when you think it’s all over the cherry comes back and hits you in the mouth.

I mean, this bourbon really has a long of great complexities, and even if it doesn’t agree with your palate (and you’re crazy if you don’t like it), then you can at least say, wow that was some great quality bourbon and I just need to find out what that taste was, because I can’t quite put my finger on it.
