20 Best Lipstick For Over Fifty (2023 Updated)

I purchased this as I am getting married next year and decided to start testing out different long wear/no transfer lipsticks for the big day. Well, this lipstick always comes up when I research the best wedding day/kiss-proof lipsticks.

Overall, this stuff literally works no better than Maybelline Superstay ink liquid lipstick. I have a few of the Maybelline lipsticks already and love them but they do dry your lips out, but the staying power is pretty good and it’s pretty amazing at not transferring, just very little to none usually, I do still feel I need to reapply it to freshen it up later in the day too but that’s no big deal.

This Stila lipstick works exactly the same as the Maybelline one and the Maybelline one may actually work a little better! I found this Stila one to actually transfer more (it stayed on my lips but a lot of the color still showed up on my napkin when I ate lunch today) and it dried my lips out too and would def still need to be reapplied at some point in the day.

I will say the Rubino color is gorgeous but this color can probably be found in any other brand pretty easily. So overall I say save your money and buy the cheaper Maybelline ones or just try a different brand in general.

The price for this one isn’t worth it to me.

STILA in general is one of my FAVORITE beauty brands. I can always count on them to release products that are right up my alley. I love all mauvey and pinky nudes in their makeup collection. I bought the color Baci on a whim, because the woman assisting me at Sephora told me based on my current favorite Stila liquid lipsticks- I was sure to love! 2 years later and 3 tubes later- she was right on the money! It’s a cooler toned nude, which makes it such a stand out in my collection.

I love the way it pairs with so many different colors and lip liners! My favorite combination is Baci and Twig by MAC. Lasts all day with a couple minor touch ups! Photographs really well. I hope Stila keeps this shade around forever! #Stila #Baci #Sephora #liquidlipstick #holygrail.

I have had many of these lipsticks in the past. And currently have 5 shades. I have been disappointed in the past as have alot of people because the formula dries out very quickly. I mean I’m talking within a month or 2 after buying it and just using it occasionally.

But I finally figured out what to do to make this product last and not dry out so fast like that. I keep all of mine in a ziploc in my make up caddy. I take it out to use then put it back in and reseal it after each use.

I have had them now 3 or 4 months. They are the consistency of the day I bought them. Not dried out at all and applies well and lasts on the lips. Had I not discovered this new way of preserving them I would of had to stop buying them because they are just too pricey to be drying out that fast.

Hope that helps if you are considering these. I gave them 5 Stars because I love the shades and formula on the lips and now know how to store them fo preserve them.

Love this lipstick! Not only is it a clean brand, but it’s very hydrating and moisturizing. It almost feels like chapstick. That being said it can smear a bit, but I don’t think it’s bad. The color is also beautiful with a great shine and a little sparkle to it.

Overall, I just love it because of the feel it gives as it is so hydrating. I would even wear this color without any other makeup because while it’s beautiful, it doesn’t overpower your face to the point that you have to apply other makeup to balance out the look.

I just love this lipstick brans. I have this one too and it is great. It is a lovely golden red that stays on for hours even through a workout and most of the day. It isn’t creamy so you don’t end up eating it off.

I hate it when my lipstick end up as my dinner. Gabriel has some lovely colors and the price is right. For $14. 99 or so you can get a great vegan/GF lipstick. I highly recommend this brand for quality ingredients and colors.

I own Sheer Pink, Siren and Patina which gives me an antique look over any dark color I wear. Gorgeous!.

I adore Zuzu brand makeup. Sin is one of my all time favorite colors. It’s almost a poinsettia red. I just ordered Ultra Violet since I’m loving purples right now, and it’s creamy and looks amazing. I have a friend whose skin is so sensitive that she breaks into hives anytime she wears makeup, even some so-called clean brands.

She has no negative reactions at all to Zuzu/Gabriel. If you’re looking for a clean brand at great price point, this is it. Try the blushes too. They’re highly pigmented and last.

I have used this product for several years and have tried cheating on it a few times. Thankfully, it’s always there when I want to come back because nothing out there can compare. As with most beauty products, there is a trick to the application.

I usually prime my old lips with The Ordinary Squalane Solution and let absorb while I apply mascara, etc. Scrap excess product off the applicator, outline lips, and then fill in with a very light touch.

Blot if you want to lighten to color a bit. Another recommendation is to replace the product at least every 3-4 months. I’ve discovered that as it ages, it gets thicker and does not apply as smoothly as a newer tube.

Thankfully, it’s relatively inexpensive compared to a lot of lip colors. Try it! You’ll like it!.

This is honestly the best kept liquid lip stick secret. I absolutely HATE to reapply lipstick throughout the day. I hate carrying lipstick all day long. I hate to keep up with lipstick in order to reapply all day.

I hate losing my lipsticks so to all these factors. I don’t have to worry about any of that with this lipstick. I put it on in the morning and by days end, it is still there in perfect condition even after eating and drinking.

The trick is how one puts it on. I put on a pencil liner then take the liquid lipstick and outline my lips, then pierce my lips together gently and it covers my remaining lips, almost. WITHOUT dipping it back in, I lightly cover the parts of the lip that didn’t get covered.

DO NOT PIERCE LIPS AFTER THIS. Only pierce lips once, that’s all. Let dry, which happens quite quickly because you didn’t put a heavy coat on it. That is it. As long as you don’t eat anything too oily, you are good for the entire day.

And it lasts such a long time. I leave my liquid lipstick on my makeup table for the next day and it never gets lost. Now, to take it off, I use baby oil at night. If for some reason you need to take it off and reapply, you need to use baby oil then wash lips with your choice of soap as to get all oil off lips.

Friends that have tried this and hated it, I’ve told how to properly use it, and they try again and love it. I have to say that when new liquid lipsticks come out in other lines, I always try them because I’m so afraid that Revlon will discontinue this line.

There’s always that possibility. There is NO other liquid lipstick that compares. NONE !!! Jeffrey Star and Nix come sort of close. I do wish there were more colors. Please bring back 065, the peachie color.

So the colors in this range are absolutely beautiful. Normally I opt for higher end lipsticks for performance reasons but premium pink and stellar sunrise drew me in as I hadn’t seen colors quite like them before.

I have fair, cool toned skin and those are my PERFECT shades of hot pink and red. The staying power of these is also incredible. I just ate dinner with buttery pasta and a fudgey dessert and expected to look in the mirror and touch up the center of my lips.

Nope, it stayed on. It did get that “line” towards the opening of the mouth where the product cut off, but it wasn’t a big deal appearance wise because when my lips are shut, the lips are fully covered.

HOWEVER, this lipstick is highly uncomfortable to wear. As a makeup artist I’ve worn any liquid lip you can think of, including cheaper ones, and this is the worst so far. It remains sticky and makes your lips feel slightly tight and crusty.

If you hate the feel of lipstick, this is your worst nightmare. I’m used to wearing lipstick so I got through the day but the discomfort is enough to make me question if I should return it or not. The colors are so good that I don’t know if I will, but it’s so sticky and if I wear this long enough it will get those weird chunks on the lips.

I kissed my boyfriend’s cheek to test the transfer aspect of it. there was slight color of a full lip then a chunky lipstick rim around the shape. If you can stand REALLY feeling the lipstick you’re wearing, just want to wear it for lunch or a night out, or you find a color you can live without, I say try it.

Otherwise it’s just not worth the gross feel of it. Oh, and the layers apply sheer and thin so you’ll need two at least. I’ve tried this with and without balm underneath, and I prefer it with balm to combat dryness but nothing makes a difference with the tacky, tight feel.

The joy of this lipstick starts with opening it. The lipstick bullet has a small hinge in the lid that makes it spring open. I find just taking this out of my drawer will lighten my mood. The colour pulls toward a warm orange/brown red on me and works perfectly as a bold but flattering lip look.

I like to pair it with light eyeshadow and a tonne of mascara. It can be dressed up to a full face or dressed down as a last minute afterthought before running out the door. The formula is creamy and moisturizing.

The staying power for the colour is excellent but you will leave lip prints on your first few sips of coffee. The scent is neutral and I don’t notice much of a taste. I like that this formula can also be sheered out using a lip balm or other product.

This lipstick feels glam and fun. It’s one of those perfect colours I’ve just accepted that I will never be able to dupe and it’s much more of a pleasure to buy a replacement when it runs out than to seek a similar but less satisfying dupe.

I have worn Lancome’s 355 Champagne lipstick for 20 plus years. Lancome recently replaced the formula and labeled it as 355 Rose Cocktail. It is definitely not the same color. Dillard’s advertised Champagne and I ordered it online, received the lipstick with the label 355 Rosy Sparkling and I’m like, what is what.

So now there are two different 355 – Rose Cocktail and Rosy Sparkling. To me the Rosy Sparkling is more like the original Champagne. Champagne was a popular color so why change something if it’s not broken.

I hope Dillard’s will continue to stock 355 Rosy Sparkling which I will continue to purchase. FYI – I did call Lancome directly and spoke with a Customer Representative stating my opinion which they said they take into consideration.

I feel it’s important for Lancome to know customers opinions.

Before I comment on the lipstick, I want to say I 100% agree with the reviewer that asks for 047 Rouge Rayonnant to be brought back. I too found it the most beautiful colour, agree that there is nothing like it out there.

I had worn it for years, and seen packaging and textures change, but never stopped loving the colour. Come on Lancome, you have so many colours that are similar to each other, surely you could lose one of those, and bring 047 back.

Other than the colour issue, the new lipstick is nice, although I find it slightly thick and heavy, but that is probably just me. As for the lipstick case where you press one end and it opens, sorry to say it is not innovative and has been done before (Chanel have had it on their rouge allure lipsticks for years), although it does look and feel nice.

Not sure I will buy any more of them, due to the thick texture, and as I don’t have a Lancome counter any where near where I live, I can’t see what the colours are really like. No doubt others love them, and I hope they do well as Lancome is a lovely brand.

I was want to start off by saying that this color is flipping Ah-Mazing! This is right up my alley! I love dark vampy colors. Nyx definitely did their thing with this. This is currently the only color I own in this collection.

I am slowly working my way through trying all of NYX’s expansive lipstick collection. I purchased the Full Throttle lipstick in Con Artist purely for the color, without much research on the formula. I tried it once and was a bit overwhelmed at how difficult it was to apply.

I felt like the actual shape of the product was not compatible with the shape of my mouth, especially with trying to get a clean line along the perimeter. And just forget about my cupid’s bow. The lipstick got lost in my collection for awhile, but I found it again for a perfect fall color and have since learned a few things about its temperament.

It dries down to matte incredibly quickly, so you have to move fast to get an even coat and correct any mistakes. It works best over a lip liner, which will also help prevent any bleeding onto the face.

Most importantly, you can pop the top of the lid off to reveal a lip gloss in the matching color. This find was a godsend! The gloss is not sticky and it immediately smooths over any uneven lines in the applications.

It’s not exactly moisturizing, but it does minimize any cracking of the lipstick and prevents tugging on the lips. I can’t certainly feel that there is something on my mouth-there’s almost a little tingle to it-but it’s not as uncomfortable as it was without the gloss.

Please give these lipsticks more attention! I sincerely hope that NYX starts marketing these lipsticks with more advertising, better packaging, and a larger color range. They are so undervalued but deserve so much hype.

This is a fantastic product: it is amazingly pigmented, smooth, and super matte without balling up or making my mouth feel like sandpaper. It glides on like a lip balm, is transfer-proof comparable to some high-end liquid lipsticks, and feels as comfortable as a regular lipstick or balm.

Although these lipsticks are much less drying than any other true-matte liquid/lipstick I’ve tried, I’d still suggest using some lip balm a few minutes before applying. I wore Sandman for a full 9 hour shift during which I talked almost constantly and I had a sandwich.

I barely needed a touch up after I ate. It is the perfect warm-toned, darker-but-everyday-appropriate red for my fair, warm complexion. Con-Artist is a beautiful vampy-red, but it does apply with slightly more drag than the others (only marginally).

Kiss the Dust is a nice grunge nude that was a go-to shade for a while. I picked up Sidekick hoping it would work as a lighter nude for me, but is a cool toned pink with a bit of patchiness upon first application.

I highly recommend these lipsticks for anyone that dislikes the fussiness of liquid lipsticks but wants a matte lipstick that doesn’t budge or require a lot of maintenance. Please expand the color range, NYX!.

I’ve been looking for a lipstick exactly like this forever. I followed the recommendation from a beauty sight on Instagram, and I’m sooo glad I did. This shade, feverish, looks nothing like this picture.

It is a pinkish-peach with a little glow, long lasting, cruelty free. The perfect neutral go with everything shade for me. My skin tone is neutral, hazel eyes, blonde hair. I was skeptical because of the price at first, but I am a believer now!.

I have to be honest; I just bought this lipstick because a) I always buy red lipstick and b) I loved the packaging. Imagine my suprise when I ended up LOVING the lipstick itself. The color (red armchair) is a really lovely neutral red (not too blue, not too orange) for me.

The best part, though, it that it’s a matte that doesn’t make my lips fall off! I can wear it all day and I won’t wake up the next day feeling like I need to bathe my lips in a vat of balm. I am going to get more colors asap!.

I love a good limited edition collectors item and everything about this screamed that I needed it and feeling it and seeing it in person makes the price tag worth it for me.

I plan to get the second color now that I know how luxe the product is in person. As for the color I can’t say it’s anything special it’s your average wine colored matte lip but I think it’s clear why someone would purchase this and it’s worth it so if you’re a matte lipstick lover and you enjoy limited edition products like I do then check this out on Selfridges before it goes away! This lipstick is my go to, my absolute favorite and by far the longest wearing out of all the lipsticks I own.

I love it soo much. I don’t let myself run out of it The texture is lightweight and applied well. Wasn’t too slippery or hard to control. The color is quite pigmented, especially on my fair skin. I didn’t have any issues with application.

I typically find mattes drying but didn’t have issues with this one. Lasts a few hours on me.

I have to start off by saying, I am not a lipstick wearer naturally. I’ve tried to be and I love it on others, but every time I put it on my face, I feel like I’m not confident enough to pull off the look.

As well, I feel like it is very drying on my lips, so I just avoid it in general. This sample may have changed my outlook on wearing lipstick. The formula is so rich and glides on beautifully. The color, while intense actually makes me feel so beautiful and makes my teeth look incredibly white.

I think I still have to wear it and stare at myself in the mirror for a little bit to really feel confident wearing it out. But I am absolutely in love with the formula and the texture. It seems to hold up really well with regular activities like eating or drinking from a straw, but I can’t speak to how well it stays on for an extended amount of time.

That said, I’m still practicing with wearing lipstick and feeling good about myself while doing it. It. This is the perfect lipstick for that. I love that it doesn’t feel heavy, but it also feels like a huge impact in my life.

This color is so flattering and I cannot stress enough how sexy I feel with it on. I’ve already packed it in my vacation makeup bag and I am going to force myself to wear it out. I feel good wearing it and I’m grateful for the confidence boost!.

I really like this product. The colour of it is really nice for my light-medium skin tone. The texture of it is also really nice. It is very velvet and not drying at all. The only thing is that I own the same shade 196 in their other textures, but I find the two colours to be quite different.

The other one is more orange red, compared to this one being more pink red. I personally like both colours, but if I have purchased this lipstick because I liked the other colour, I would have been quite disappointed as the colours are different.

I personally enjoy this formula a lot. I like that it is matte on the lips while not transferring everywhere and drying. I think the only thing that I don’t like as much is the smell of it. I don’t mind the perfume scented smell, but I do think that this is a little heavy, and maybe if it was less scented it be a little better.

Also, I find the coverage of this lipstick to be really good. My lips were covered with two swipes. They were a little hard to blend and apply at first, but when I applied for the second time it was much easier, so I think it is probably the layer on top.

Another minor problem is the line with the inner lip. I find this lipstick shows the gap quite obviously. But it does not bother me as much.

Mum and I decided to treat ourselves to a girlie trip to boots, as it’s both our favourite shop. We were both wanting a lipstick that lasts so decided to try a more expensive range. The lady on the desk was very helpful she helped us find the colour we wanted and assured it lasts hours!!! NO IT DOESN’T it goes on and comes off on everything you touch, cup, lips, it’s off in the hour.

Maybelline lasts longer and I could have bought 3. Really disappointed. What makes it worse when we complained to estee lauder response ” its preference ” actually no it isnt , lasting means lasting I have had chapstick last longer.

A nice creamy lipstick that glides on smooth and feels great. This is a nice bright red, but it has a more yellow base so maybe not a rich a red as the pure color envy reds. I think it still pops. However, one’s skin tone will make a difference in how this looks, but the wear and feel will still be great.

Creamy texture which I like unfortunately I took a chance on buying the colour online without seeing it in real life. The colour SEDUCE is a peachy/coral shade reminiscent of the 1960s which is not a shade I go for.

The shade is perfectly beautiful for Asian skin tone. The texture is thick and luxurious not light weight. It’s feels so creamy and moisturizing on my lips. It slides beautifully onto the lips and lasts all day.

It is super pigmented and rich in color. The packaging is sleek and luxurious. Lancôme created a masterpiece and totally love it. 🔥.

So disappointed! I purchased Dutchess 5 months ago and really liked the color. I wanted to wear it today, and it is completely dried out. This is my 3 or 4th use of the product and the cap was tightly in place.

I have a reasonable collection of lip products and my use of liquid lips has decreased with wearing a mask. I find standard bullet lipsticks wear away, but are easily re-applied while the liquid lip formulas smear across my mouth area if I talk with a mask on.

But I wanted to try Ofra, and the price was right. I have never had a liquid lip dry out before – I have used some up some formulas after 15 months that applied as nicely as when they were first opened.

Dutchess is now in the trash can and the cost per use makes this the most expensive lip product I have ever owned. This was my first Ofra product, and my last Ofra lip product.

I purchased a bunch of these during a sale. No I’ve really enjoyed them because they are comfortable and don’t suck the life out of your lips. I have tend to have tried lips (so im more if chapstick type of girl), so these are a bit more forgiving than the formula that dries down.

The only con is because these are more comfortable, they don’t dry down completely. There is some transfer onto the masks. But overall I like them because they are comfortable and they do last. Maybe not as long as other liquid lipsticks, but I need the comfort! My favorite color is Miami Fever.

It’s has an orange tone to it- terracotta? Idk but it’s unique to my collection and it pairs well with the Naked Heat palette for a monochromatic look.

This is a great pink for people who don’t love pink. The brownish undertones really make for a classy, feminine look that is neutral and pulled together. It reminds me of my own lips, but better. A lot of pinks tend to pull very cool, but this is a warmer, friendlier pink that works well with my muted olive skin with yellow undertones.

I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did when I tried it in the Nude Minis set. Immediately ordered the full-size product.
