Best Lipstick Colours For Brunettes (2024 Updated)

I have wanted this lipstick for a few years, and finally convinced myself to buy it after binge watching the Agent Carter series. I want to start off by saying how picky I am with makeup, and often regret most makeup purchases soon after buying.

I am very picky with ingredients and comfort of the products I purchase because I have sensitive skin. I cannot speak highly enough of this lipstick. It was just super comfortable, and I never felt like my lips were overly dry, despite the finish of it being semi-matte.

It really did last most of the day too, which I have never experienced with any other lipstick. I am a college student and it lasted from morning until into the evening when I got back home and finally took it off.

Unlike how most lipsticks today have cheap looking plastic packaging, the metal packaging of this lipstick is lightweight (but not cheap feeling) and pretty enough just to leave on the top of my desk for display.

I have no regrets buying this lipstick and I highly recommend it.

I purchased this lipstick in the shade Dusty Rose. It is a beautiful deep rose berry-pink. I think of “dusty” as having a brown or grey undertone and I don’t see much of that in this shade; it’s just slightly muted.

If I apply it lightly, it leans more pink. If I apply it full on, it’s a deep rosy berry. The formula is what I like the most about this product. It has a creamy, slightly waxy feel, but it is quite long lasting, especially if I blot it.

It doesn’t dry out my lips like liquid lipsticks. It feels luxurious on the lips and the packaging is so glamorous. I like it as a lipstick, but I like it even more applied as a blush. I pick up a little with a brush and apply to my cheeks, then use my fingers to blend.

It looks like a beautiful pink flush on my fair skin.

I’m medium skin toned with red/yellow Southeast Asian warm undertones. I tend to avoid rosy colors because they pull pink on me, and sadly it looked more pink. Dusty Rose was a darker mauve I wanted to love, but it pulled more pink than rose on me.

It could be that the color clashed with my reddish undertones. HOWEVER! I gave it to my mom who is also medium skin with neutral undertones, and it looks more true to color. She loves it and it works well for her, so I think this color works better for neutral-cool undertones than warm undertones.

i think Chocolate Kiss is a better “nude” for warmer skintones like mine. But aside from the color, the formula is the comfortable Bésame formula as always.

Originally when I picked the color off the lime crime website it looked more like a tan neutral almost with subtle hints of peach close to nude color, and then when it arrived and the I swatched it – it was so far from what it looked like on the website? Hence why I usually don’t like purchasing make up mostly “lipsticks” online.

However, I was extremely surprised how beautiful it was with little to no make up on and just very light mascara and lashes and how beautiful it went with my pale skin it wasn’t too dark and it wasn’t too late it’s the perfect shade for any occasion.

I wouldn’t say it’s a nude color, I guess it could be placed in the nude category but I’ve found it had more hues of browns grays purples almost like a very dry it out purple with subtle and when I say subtle I mean very subtle hints of pinks and peaches and just all sorts of colors that I can’t quite point my finger on may be a little bit of a gray but mix those all together and you get this beautiful cashmere color that goes on smooth! I love that it’s a liquid lipstick aka VELVETINE matte (so I know it won’t be coming off on my teeth, clothes, drinks or even when I’m eating greasy foods – THIS HAS STAYED PUT!) I’ll even go as far as saying it lasted one very long passionate date night with my husband 🙊🙈😂 (insert blushing emoji here)  This was actually my second time purchasing this shade, and I would definitely purchase it again and again! Limecrime has great sales from time to time so make sure to look out for that! I think they’ve rebranded their website at showing the exact color on different skin tones and even have multiple lips pictured so you have a better idea how it will look, from when it was just the same pair of lips that was always pictured in every shade! I recommend any of limecrime’s liquid velvetines as they are soft on the lips and go on very smoothly.

Since this is probably the brightest red you can by from Lime Crime, when there’s a little bit of wear throughout the day, it is a bit more noticeable compared to the other colors available. Love everything else about it though.

The smell off all their products is amazing. Like any all day-wear lipstick, be careful whilst applying. Start with the smallest outline and work your way out to correct the shape. I recommend getting those pointed tip q-tips to shape it properly.

This may also be better applied with a different lipstick brush. This spongey brush works fine, but it does take out A LOT of product at once, which will probably end up contributing to the product drying up over time.

I would say this is comparable to other products, such as Jefree Star, etc. MAYBE Lime Crime is a little more drying over time. I’ve noticed it’s a bit harder for me to wear these on consecutive days without practically cracking my lips open.

ALSO an important note. This will come off VERY easily if you try to put chap stick over the product throughout the day. Basically almost turns it into lipgloss on your lips, which is great for removal, but horrible if you’re just trying to keep your lips from turning into raisins throughout the day.

I’ve had more success with adding moisturizing lip products over my all day-stay products with different brands. I would say it is almost worth the cost. I would personally value these more at a 15. 99 price point instead of 20, but that’s just my opinion.

Overall, you will use it a lot, it will be one of your favorites, but there are comparable products out there that you may like more or just as much for the same price. Cheers!.

I have been looking for this nude colour for ages and then when i found it I had to wait for it to come back into stick. Seemed to be popular shade. It has nice soft formula and weightless on the lips.

The colour as a light pinky nude matte works well with my olive medium skintone. My biggest issue was that it did not last. It would rub fade transfer off very easily and so i found myself needing to top up several times.

I received the L’Oreal hydrating code lipstick for free from topbox circle. I’m almost done with the lipstick because that’s how much I loved it. I often end up with lipsticks that last 1-2 hours on my lips and then the lipstick starts fading away and my lips start cracking, but with this hydrating core lipstick my lips did not dry out at all and I paired it with the free anti-feathering lip liner that I also received for free from topbox circle and the two just went bomb together.

I was surprised to see that the lipstick lasts so long and just needed a touch up once in 10 hours. I also noticed that this lipstick definitely added a plump to my lips and made them look more fuller.

Even after taking off the lipstick my lips were quite soft and hydrated. The best part for me is the nourishing serum and the the hydrating core, which is what makes this lipstick my favourite as you can’t often find that in other lipsticks.

I recommend this lipstick to anyone who also experiences dry and cracked lips when they use some lipsticks, if you want to avoid feathering, and are looking for a lipstick that can hydrate and nourish your lips.

I received this lipstick to review in the shade 112 Sublime Red. The packaging is eye catching in a white tube with gold coloured detailing. There is a clear hydrating core in this lipstick and because of this I found that the lipstick went on a bit blotchy on the inner parts of my lips because there was no colour in the center of the lipstick.

The texture of this lipstick is pleasing. It goes on almost creamy and then dries down as the day goes on. I found that my lips stayed hydrated for hours which was impressive! I had this lipstick on while eating lunch and there was some transfer onto my water glass and the lipstick needed touching up after eating.

This lipstick was a very bright red on me, so much so that it put me out of my comfort zone. I prefer lighter lipsticks with a “my lips but better” shade. That being said, I was able to get a nice light wash of colour by applying it with my finger tip.

It allowed me to control the intensity of the colour. If you’re looking for a pigmented red lipstick, this one is for you! Overall, even though this wasn’t my preferred shade, I do find the texture, long lasting moisture to be great aspects of this lipstick that would encourage me to try it in other shades and to recommend it to others.

I love this product, I would describe it more as a lipstick balm. It’s not as opaque and overall super unique formula. I have extremely chapped and dry lips that peel, so in general I stay away from lipstick and rely on balms and glosses to avoid attention to the texture of my lips.

This nude colour was not only a stunning your lips but better shade but worked great to be moisturizing enough for my lips and applied perfectly. Great dabbed on for an everyday look or paired with liner for a night out.

Recently I had the pleasure to test three of the new “L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Addiction” lipsticks in colours ‘112 Only in Paris’, ‘643 Hot IRL’ and ‘350 Insanesation’. \nTwo of the biggest changes with this latest lipstick line are: \n.

The change from black or gold outer packaging to clear lipstick tubes. It is now easier to see the true colour of the lipstick without having to open lipstick or remember the name/number you are looking for.

Very convenient if like myself you’re in a hurry. \n. This lipstick line has had a change of scent and taste. Instead of the usual L’Oréal floral fragrance the ‘Riche Shine Addiction’ lipsticks smell more like fruit and taste milder when inevitably ingestion occurs.

\nApplication of these lipsticks is very easy, assisted by the quality of pigments and the moisture provided by the product in question. My recommendation is to use appropriately matching lip pencils, especially for the ‘350 Insanesation’ lipstick.

\nAs all three lipsticks are very moisturizing I have found them to be extremely useful during the colder weather. If the lips are properly exfoliated and cared for then you shouldn’t require the use of a lip balm before using these lipsticks.

The hydration and moisture provided by any of the three was enough protection for my lips from the harsher effects of winter weather. \nMy lips were left very smooth, hydrated and felt refreshed after application every time I’ve used these lipsticks.

\nThe three lipstick colours provided work well for several looks:\n. daily wear with ‘121 Only in Paris’ (this colour applied a bit brighter of a pink than the actual lipstick colour)\n. modern /chic ‘643 Hot IRL’ (great for brunch, lunch time coffee or modern evening dates)\n.

sultry/ vintage date night looks using ‘350 Insanesation’ (this turned out to be my favourite of the three, the colour is bluer red than L’Oréal ‘Eva’s Pure Red’ and leaves the lips feeling more hydrated than the formula in Eva’s Pure Red).

\nWhen it comes to ease of wear with these lipsticks the trick is to line the lips, apply lipstick, blot with a tissue then reapply lipstick again. If you are worried about the lipstick transfer/are planning to eat while wearing these lipsticks, then I would highly recommend purchasing some ‘Lipcote’ to wear over the lipstick.

As the lipstick is so hydrating the Lipcote top layer wont effect your lips which will still be very hydrated, but the Lipcote will stop 98% of the lipstick transfer when eating (answer to a problem right there).

\nThe coverage from these lipsticks is very good and I can honestly recommend the product especially for winter time use. Available colours are suitable for a range of situations and can work with many different skin shades which is pleasing.

\nChanges to the product scent (and taste) shows that care has been taken by L’Oréal to provide a product within their lipstick lines for those who may have chosen to previously stay away from L’Oréal lipsticks because of the usual floral scent.

\nMy overall score for these lipsticks would be 8. 5/10 :). \n.

This Lipstick is a great, easy everyday lipstick. If you have chapped lips or whatever the texture they are in, you can put this on with out worry of how it will make your lips look. The lipstick is creamy and glossy finish without being too sticky.

It isn’t also so creamy that there is no color like some lipsticks. This particular lipstick is great for I believe any medium skin toned girl. My only gripe is the lid comes off easily in my purse. So I would place it in a makeup bag.

This is a beautiful lipstick! It’s looks beautiful with or without a lipliner and is great for everyday wear. I gave this product 4 stars because as beautiful as the lipstick is the description is misleading.

It does not have a frost finish, has a slight shimmer and you need to apply it a few times to get the true colour. It’s more of a sheer/creamy finish but its very comfortable on the lips!.

LOVE these matte liptsicks in every way. The colors are perfect (my favs pink canyon, prickly pear, marrekesh. And now tried mojave and cassia and strawebrry cactus). I have olive ton and light brown skin.

These colors are awesome in my skintone. They are natural and muted for the day but can layer for evening. Marrekesh i use for events or going out. The texture is perfect. Smooth and colorful. Not drying and cakey or flakey like other natural brands.

No scents other natural brands have a weird smells. Goes on smoothly. Other natural brands do not. And other natural brands feel like there are grains in them. Not these! Please do not change these. Especially my fav colors! These are my go to lifetime lipsticks!! Also in the glaze, I use *****.

LOVE it!.

These lipsticks go on a little waxy and smooth. They do last a long time and I have to remove them with mineral oil at the end of the day. They don’t dry my lips as much as other long lasting lipsticks, and the pigmentation is strong.

I like that I can layer and play with the colors, especially since the packaging does not represent the colors correctly. I purchased a couple that don’t look good on me, but when i layer them they become very flattering and add depth.

Somehow when I use these lipsticks I always get compliments!.

Well. all these berry colors for winter are amazing AND I WANT THEM ALL!!!! SO I decided to go on a berry run and grab a few different brands (a lot were expensive or sold out but walmart has an assortment that would make a christmas elf giddy) and this was my first.

I was not amazed. It felt amazing going on but it soon thickened up and looked clumpy (as my son said). I agreed. It looked so thick on my lips and cracked around the edges so. On to the Next!!!! With it being about 8$ from walmart, i can have fun with this experiment and bought 4 different kinds so be on the lookout this week for more berry trials.

I buy so many lip sticks and hate the color after I get home. For reference I am greenish blue eyes/brown hair dyed blonde/ fair to medium warmer skin tone. This color looks awesome. I went back and bought more immediately.

Absolutely beautiful shade of red. The packaging is high-quality, but I would expect nothing less from this brand. Some people complain it leaves their lips dry. As with any lip product, proper preparation is key here.

Exfoliate your lips, and apply a moisturizing balm. Once that has had time to settle, then apply your lipstick.  As far as the fragrance goes, do you remember those tiny little lipstick samples from Avon? That’s what the fragrance reminds me of.

To me, it is comforting. I have many shades of lipstick from various companies, but this is one of my favorites. It just feels luxurious when you apply it. It has great staying power for me, and the only time it needs to be touched up is after I eat a meal.

I’m a huge fan of these Louboutin lipsticks which first of all come in the most beautiful and sexy packaging ever! They have a great variety of shades and finishes but I really like this version the best.

My fave new shade is called Bengali which is a bright pink color. These are very moisturizing and long lasting although just as an FYI they do tend to bleed a little bit. The other major downside of these lipsticks is that they are $120 Canadian which is very overpriced for the lipstick even if it does come in the beautiful package.

If you’re looking to treat yourself for a special occasion this is a great gift!.

This is the most beautiful lipstick I’ve ever worn! My go-to brands are Rom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury and Chanel, but this is my new must- have, and I recently purchased a new shade as well. The formula and staying power are superb.

It’s lightweight feeling, comfortable, and I feel so put together, polished and lovely when wearing this lipstick. It’s appropriate for day or evening, and it’s now a must- have for me. The case is beautiful k but that’s just a bonus.

I’m not one to be excited over aesthetics, as I purchased it to wear. I can see myself adding more shades in the future. The price is high, but for something that flatters my face, is comfortable and luxurious it’s worth it to me.

This product feels soft and somewhat moisturizing to the lips – more than most lipstick products. It’s mostly good at keeping whatever moisture you started with, so if your lips feel parched, moisturize about 15 minutes before applying this lipstick.

It’s extremely sheer, and I don’t recommend building the product (especially if lips are a little rough) because this emphasizes texture, and if wearing a dramatic color like Cabo, it can easily slide around staining the outside of your lips.

Definitely worth trying, but note that the scent is variable for some colors. Specifically, Baby (ruddy pink, similar to sheer coat of CT original pillow talk) & Slip (warm fawn brown, similar to Glossier Trench) smelled sweet.

Whereas Cabo (punchy red, similar to Tilbury hyaluronic passion kiss) & Millennial (medium pink, similar to Clinique pink honey) had a much stronger scent that was remeniscent of drugstore L’Oreal lipsticks – that scent was strongest after freshly applying, and faded with ~30 minutes.

Hopefully it won’t cause anyone a headache. Finally, the packaging is way too bulky. It feels like they’re overcompensating for how sheer of a product they have – I love this product, and frustrated that the packaging makes me think twice before tossing into my pocket or purse before going out, because the packaging takes up so much volume & feels like you’re carrying around a dense glass rectangle paperweight.

& It’s not refillable, so not sure why a company that prioritizes minimalism would waste so much material on a disposable container. You ultimately need to reapply every hour or so if you want to maintain what you started with, so it would be much more sensible to have slimmer, lightweight packaging.

Overall I love & recommend this product, and hope they make a mini or lighten the packaging in the future.

First thing I want to say is the packing is STUNNING and makes this lipstick feel much more expensive than it is. It is satisfyingly heavy in the hand but not bulky. The colored acrylic lid looks much nicer to me than just clear acrylic and they style of the case is just not something you see often which definitely makes this feel special and unique.

Now on to the colors, feel and wear. I have 2 colors: Slip and Baby. Slip is a lovely neutral leaning warm soft brown. Because of the formula and how thin it is, I can get the desired opacity without going overboard.

I have light to light-med neutral/warm olive undertones with very pigmented lips which means browns, especially ones with a very heavy white base come off odd looking and too stark. Even with lip liner you can still see where my lip color is around the edges and it makes them look sickly or like there is a rash.

Because this formula starts very sheer and can be built easily, I don’t have that issue. And it’s emollient so there isn’t a lot of tug when applying and doesn’t feel heavy when you build it up. And growing up in the late 90s/early 00s, it lets me relive that love of brown-neutral lips.

It very much reminds me of the long discontinued Bonne Bell lip gloss in Cappuccino, just warmer and thinner. Baby is a neutral pink with some beautiful dusty rose mixed in. After some swatching and comparing, it isn’t EXACT as Merit is a bit deeper and the finish isn’t matte, it is a very close dupe to CT Pillow Talk.

And while I love CT, it is a heavier formula and a matte finish which has its time and place but I’m finding I prefer shiny, glossy, hydrating lip products more than anything that is matte. You definitely do not need both but I am not mad I have them both.

I did deduct 1 star because Slip is not staying upright in the bullet. I’m not sure if it is due to melting a bit in transit or just the softness of the shade, but it is frustrating. Gonna try letting it fully set in the freezer and hope that helps.

I was misled by YouTube reviews. They all said it was very balm like, and gripped the lips very well. They said that it hugged the lips and stayed put. I know it’s not a long wear lipstick, but it smears and slips and slides around like any other cream bullet lipstick.

I apply it to clean dry lips with nothing underneath to disrupt it. It feels and wears exactly like the Loreal bullet lipsticks in the gold tubes. It’s a thin lightweight creamy formula. The description sounded very similar to the Bobbi Brown Crushed bullet lipsticks that I love, they are my favorite formula.

So I was really excited to try this one, but it’s nothing like it. If you’re looking for a balm like, gripping formula that sticks to your lips, go with the Bobbi Brown Crushed lipstick. I have this in L’avenue which is described as a berry brown, but it appears much darker than that on me.

I have truly ultra palest of pale skin and it looks extremely darkest cool brown on my skin tone. I do love dark lipstick contrasted with my pale skin, but I’m not seeing a hint of the berry on me. L’avenue is also the same shade as Revlon Rum Raisin.

Designed to reduce & blur the appearance of lip lines while preventing bleeding, feathering, flaking & fading for up to 12 hours but still have a matte finish. My experience: I am a self-professed lipstick junkie & thrilled to try this newest release from them.

First off, the packaging is chic & high quality. I selected the color mull it over which is described as dirty peach & would say that’s an accurate description of this color, a darker peach nude. Holy smokes, this is such a pigmented lipstick! One swipe offers fully opaque & beautiful pigmentation.

The formulation is lightweight, slightly creamy & very comfortable to wear. This doesn’t feel drying but I also wouldn’t describe it as super nourishing like I imagined. I also noticed some transfer when drinking beverages so I would keep this close by for touch ups.

I don’t mind reapplying this one as it doesn’t feel thick or drying. It also has a delicious vanilla scent. Overall: I am enjoying this new release from Mac. It’s well made, with beautiful packaging, highly pigmented, with a vanilla scent.

I do note that while this isn’t drying it’s not as nourishing as I thought it would be & requires some touch ups from transfer but I don’t mind it because it’s comfortable to wear. Definitely a fan of this & would purchase in a bold red color.

MAC has won me back. I may have strayed and gone to other brands, but with this lipstick, they’ve reeled me back in. We’ve all heard of Ruby Woo, the universally flattering and iconic red. It’s the red that has built up a cult following over the years.

Almost every woman I know has at least one tube in her arsenal of lipsticks. This latest launch by MAC has now introduced this beautiful red in a few new formulas, including the Powder Kiss Velvet Blur Slim stick.

This formula is designed to basically have a matte finish but also provide moisture. Did you hear that? A matte lipstick that also provides MOISTURE! It’s the holy grail. It’s what everyone woman has been asking for! How can you not love it?? So after applying it, I found that it does have a more soft, subtle look than the original Ruby Woo.

But I actually love that. I love that I can wear this lip color every day if I wanted to and I wouldn’t look like a crazy person running around with a bright and bold red on a normal Wednesday afternoon.

This leaves more of a soft, almost stained, look to your lips. And also, one swipe is more than pigmented. You won’t need more. I did find that while it wasn’t drying out my lips, it didn’t last as long as the original matte formula.

There was a bit of a transfer so I’d keep the lipstick nearby for touch-ups. Lastly, can we take a second to appreciate the packaging of this lipstick? It is beautiful! The lipstick is housed in this very chic and sophisticated matte black casing with the MAC logo in gold.

It is a sleek design and despite its slim silhouette, the weight of the casing feels good in your hand. It feels expensive and luxurious and I’m here for it! This lipstick does not look like your traditional bullet and you will always have room for it in your evening bag or little clutch.

All in all, I give this child of Ruby Woo an A. It’s a matte lipstick that feels like a balm. The color payoff is good. It doesn’t last as long as I would like, but I don’t mind pulling this beautiful lipstick out to reapply.

I do hope that MAC comes out with some more shades in this formula. Would love to see some nudes and browns like Whirl, Yash, or Taupe for the upcoming Fall season.

I received this product free in exchange for a review. It has been a while since I have worn a non-liquid lip color but I have always been fond of Mac so I was excited to try it out. As usual the packaging is wonderful – sleek, modern, and recognizable.

I am also a huge fan of a red lip (there is a red out there for everyone!) so I was doubly excited about the color Ruby New. Performance wise – this applies like a dream! Smooth and velvety and feels great on the lip.

Light weight, slightly powdery, and feel moisturizing. You get get great color payoff on the first coat and a second coat just evens things up. There was no feathering or bleed. Wear is better than average for a bullet product.

It survived my morning coffee without too much movement – but doesn’t quite last through lunch w/out needing reapplication. Ruby New is a gorgeous classic blue-red and the finish is decisively matte.

It is a color that would work on various skin tones and will be a quick reach-for in my routine.

I bought a few different lipsticks to try and can easily say that this is my absolute favorite, not too brown, not too pink, not too light or dark. I can say it is a nude more on the brown side, which is what I was looking for.

It looks GREAT paired with the Iconic Nude lip cheat. The formula isn’t 100% matte as the texture itself is very creamy but it does look matter than her other lipsticks. Also, the smell is just AMAZING (it’s chocolatey/sweet and I just want to reapply it a 100 times because of that).

It may look a bit washed out on lighter skin tones I feel. I’m fair with olive/neutral and undertones and dark hair/dark eyes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Got mine in the shade catwalking and I love it so so much. Charlotte Tilbury’s matte revolution lipsticks are fabulous and I don’t know a person who doesn’t like this formula. When I saw this new shades I wasn’t sure if I was going to like any of them because Pillow talk and Very Victoria are my favourite for ages but I decided to try Catwalking and I’m so glad I did.

The shade it so nice and go really well with my 90’S inspired looks paired with the lip liner in icon nude it’s perfection and for a bulet lipstick it’s super long wearing and comfortable on the lips.

Got one for my friend and she said that from now on she will only use Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks so if anyone never tried this lipstick formula before I’m sure everyone will love it, highly recommend.
