The best lightweight weed eater for a woman is the Black & Decker LSTE523. It is a cordless trimmer that is very lightweight and easy to use. It has a 20-volt max lithium battery that gives it plenty of power to get the job done quickly and easily.
Stop making yard work such a chore and get the WORX 20V Max Lithium Power Share 12 Cordless Grass Trimmer with In-Line Wheeled Edging. That sounds like a lot, but it could not be easier to use. Just pull the head down and rotate it 180 degrees to switch between trimming and edging functions.
The shaft telescopes down if youre a short gardener, or it elongates if youre tall. And it tilts 90 degrees so you can trim underneath the deck, the bushes or the dog. The handle is adjustable, too, making this 2-in-1 Trimmer & Edger the most comfortable lawn & garden tool youll ever use.
The Auto-Feed Line Management System gives you the right length for the most precise cuts every time. The Flower Guard will keep you from tearing through the tulips. At only 5 1/2 lbs. it wont tire you out to carry around.
And the 20V Max Lithium Power Share battery can be recharged over and over and over and switched out with any 20V tool in the WORX Power Share family.
There’s so much to be said about this cordless grass trimmer. I bought my first one in 2009. I fell in love with the features since I have Rheumatoid Arthritis I’m not able to handle a heavy bulky tool.
It adjusts to your exact needs, feels comfortable in my hands (doesn’t hurt) and, runs a long time! In fact I weed eat my entire yard front and, back on one battery. That’s amazing! My Father in law liked it when he saw me use it and, he bought one for my Mother in law after I encouraged her to try it out and, she loved it! Then, she bought one for my brother in law for his Birthday and he loved his.
I purchased the 20” hedge trimmers, the Power Shot power washer, and am extremely satisfied with those as well. I plan to buy a few more tools that I need from Worx (jigsaw, leaf blower, jaw saw thingy, etc) and, I NEED those tools in that giveaway kit! Lol NO REALLY! These tools require very little maintenance if taken care of and tuned up periodically.
And I can even do that! And, let’s not forget free spools for life, only pay for s&h. One last thing, I am now on my 3rd grass trimmer since my first one in 2009! Folks that’s AMAZING, only 3 in 13 years! If you’re needing a new tool for your yard, don’t waste your money, purchase a Worx tool, you’ll be glad you did.
And, if I win the tool package giveaway, I’ll let y’all know how great they are because, I already know they will be! Until then. fingers crossed and, HAPPY GARDENING!.
I have 2+ full seasons on this trimmer and have been very pleasantly surprised. The trimmer is light weight and uses thin line, so I had low expectations. I trim about 200′ of chain link fence, at least 300′ along gardens and patios and edge both sides of a 60′ driveway and 30′ sidewalk.
Of the numerous trimmers I have owned over the years, this is easily my favorite. The line advances better than any trimmer, or add on trim head, I have ever seen. Very important with chain link fence! The spools are small.
I have purchased extras. I rewind my own and carry one in my pocket. They change out quickly with no tools. The edger function alone is worth the price.
I bought this item several weeks ago. I previously had a gas trimmer but the engine died and after several consultations decided on getting the cordless one. After checking online I decided on the word product because of the reviews it got and the price that it was for on sale $99.
00. After it took me a week to get the item via cursed pick-up,even though i live 5 minutes from the local hardware store Rona. I was more than anxious to get the unit up and running. I picked up the item at 0730 AM and as I got home I put it together and placed the battery on charge.
I read all the brochures that came with it and noted the length of time it would take for the battery to charge. The information package also stated that the battery should give me about five hours of run time once fully charge.
The reason for my 2 star rating on this item is due to the short battery life of the product. At about 6PM that day after the green light stopped flashing which by the way meant that the unit is fully charged.
I disconnected the charger and started to use the unit. The unit shut off about 10 minutes into using it. I could not complete the trimming of my property due to a dead battery. I was not pleased but however connected the unit and left it charging for four more days.
I tried to use the unit again and it did about the same thing only less minutes. The only way I got to complete the trimming of my property was to stop and recharge each time the unit would shut down.
Very embarrassing when you have to trim your yard in stages due to not enough battery life in your edge trimmer. Does not make any sense to me that the unit cannot complete a job for 10 minutes on a full charge.
I have put the unit down and since then have been trying to contact WORX. I waiting for someone to return my phone calls ,according to their phone lines they are busy and return my calls within 24 hours.
I’ll let you guys know how this goes when I speak with them.
The 2-in-1 Worx Cordless Grass Trimmer has function with dual-position wheels for trimming and edging. Convert trimmer easily to an in-line wheeled edger in seconds. Two (2) 20V Li-ion batteries for longer run time.
Command Feed line management system. Innovative Command Feed spool system for instant line feeding. Compact and light weight. In-line wheeled edging. Adjustable handle for maximum comfort and control.
Telescopic shaft adjusts to user’s height and posture. 90 degree tilting shaft orients the cutting head for the sloped and hard-to-reach areas. Adjustable spacer guard helps protect flowers and ornaments.
I needed a lighter, easier lawnmower that took up less space than my current one. My old one was also electric but required a cord and maneuvering that was becoming more cumbersome. The delivery was relatively good but the box was a bit beaten up.
Pros: easy to use, light weight (especially for women who take care of the yard themselves), battery life is decent, good for small yards Cons: assembly instructions are difficult to follow, would have loved to have had written instructions with the pictures.
If you have a large sized yard you’ll want to get the next size up or so. It’s a little more expensive for a lot of plastic parts. I’m worried that it may not last as long, but it serves my purpose for the moment.
After a lot of research I chose this trimmer. They offer the free string for it, so even if you use up a bit of string each time you trim the replacements are cheap — you only pay for shipping on the 6 pack.
The two batteries are nice – I ended up using both batteries up the first time as it had been a long time since we’d trimmed or mowed any of our yard. On this subsequent trimming this weekend I didn’t end up finishing one battery worth of charge.
I noticed it works well against standard grass and weaker weeds. If you try to run it against stronger weeds it pretty much just chews at them and makes a bit of a mess. With enough time and attention you can get through some of the more stubborn weeds, but I would say this probably isn’t the best tool if you have thick weeds.
The weight of the unit is really nice and is one of the main reasons I chose this model over “more powerful” ones. There is a tradeoff though – if you’re spending a while trying to get through stubborn weeds, even the lighter weight will wear you down.
Bottom line, the unit is good for the price, has a good amount of battery (with 2 included) to get through a 30 minute session of trimming, and it’s lightweight.
I’ve owned a gas trimmer but my last was a corded electric. I’m a disabled man with limited walking capabilities so I decided I needed to get a battery powered model and, after much online research I felt this WORX WG163 was the one I wanted.
Walmart had it priced well and I was also able to use a 10% off coupon I received from Walmart when I did a “Ship-to-Store” Pickup. Having never used a battery trimmer I was curious to see it’s capabilities for both power and battery duration.
Having now used it a few times I’m very impressed with both. Even though it comes with two batteries, I’m able to do a complete trimming job, including edging my long driveway, with a single battery.
I haven’t had to lengthen my trimmer line once thus far, it’s almost as though it’s been doing it on it’s own. I know it lets the line out. 25″ on it’s own each time you press the trigger but I’ve done 3 full timmings of my 1/4 acre property with a large shed, many shrubs, trees, rock lined landscaping and edging a 100′ long double wide driveway using the original spool of line and it hasn’t run out yet.
I like the batteries are lithium and don’t form a “memory” like NiCad batteries. I love the design with the wheels for edging, the pull out guard that acts as a guide to protect me from hitting things like rocks, shrubs, shed siding, etc.
And I especially like the way WORX has designed the trimmer so it can be so easily tailored to the user, and all adjustments are made without the need to use tools. I can’t imagine a better design, especially for the average homeowner’s needs.
The “only” negative I can find would be how hard it is to initially change the angle of the head. This has to be done to get the trimmer head at the proper angle for trimming and again to convert the trimmer into an edger, so it’s something that needs done frequently.
The instructions say to step on the top of the head as you rotate the handle’s angle, and this works fine after you’ve been able to change the angle “initially”, but it’s so tight out-of-the-box that their method is impossible to do because you can’t keep the head from rotating, even when applying a lot of pressure with you’re foot.
I ultimately had to use my hands to get the job done. But I not only felt like I pulled muscles in my hands and forearm but badly broke a thumbnail somehow when it broke loose, even though I was using my hands, and not my fingernails, to break it loose.
Now, once accomplished, I’ve since been able to change it’s angle by putting my foot on the head, as shown in the instructions. I’ve seen this complaint about “initially” changing the angle in many reviews and honestly don’t understand why WORX doesn’t include the initial breaking of the head loose as part of the product’s manufacturing process! But aside from this issue, I’m thoroughly pleased with the quality and performance of this trimmer/edger and absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting such a tool.

I am so upset that I wasted money on this trimmer. We just got it and the first time it ran out of spool we tried looking for replacement spools for it and nobody carries them, not even the official Scott website.
What a scam Fingerhut! And shame on Scott for selling a product with no way to use it more than once.
Much smaller that I expected. The cord isn’t for charging, you have to keep it plugged in the entire time that you use it. I’m returning because I need something that isn’t plastic. Not worth the price, at all!.
The DEWALT 20-Volt Max 5 Ah Brushless String Trimmer provides precise power control with a variable speed trigger as well as performance and run time management with the High/Low speed control switch.
The patented gear drive design provides more torque and maintains cut speed under load, while the dual-line bump feed head clears a full 13 in. Well balanced and only 8. 5 lbs. , the string trimmer easy to maneuver and puts less stress on the user.
Brushless motor for long life and run time Dual 0. 080 in. line with bump feed Variable trigger with speed control Metal gear case for on-the-job durability Patented gear drive design Ergonomically balanced and only 8.
The first one I assembled, and the guard fell off after a few uses. When this happens, the screws to attach it are lost in the mess and it’s hard to find replacements. Even if replacement parts were easily available, should I trust it would not just fall off after a couple uses again? My second trimmer had the same issue.
That’s right! I had to buy another one! That’s because my story gets worse! After approximately 2 months of use, the first trimmer failed. Engine began to smoke, and never worked again. I had already invested in other tools that use the battery, so I decided to try again, because the battery is much of the cost of the tool, and at least I could have another battery to rotate out during lawn sessions.
After the guard fell off the first day of use (the hardware store put this one together), I decided to just leave it off and take the pain. The new trimmer worked for approximately 3 weeks, and it too went up in smoke.
From what I understand, we can’t return these to the place of purchase, so ultimately I feel stuck with it. Not sure I want to deal with a return process, if I know it will fail again, and I’ll come full circle.
I also bought the pole saw, and pole hedge trimmer. I had to work on the pole saw several times, but at least it can return to functionality. The pole hedge trimmer seems to be working fine, but it is only a week old.
I have to get work done around here, and now I have to find another weed trimmer. It is a shame , because the concept is wonderful, and while operational, it works incredibly well. I was very impressed.
I don’t know how to move forward because I had invested in an entire system of tools, and the weed trimmer was the most important of my purchases.
I bought this to replace a lower price/quality unit I’ve had for a couple years which just wasn’t cuttin the mustard any longer. I’m just about 100% Dewalt when it comes to my small tools, so I figured why not, let’s try their yard tools line.
I also have a couple other tools which take the same battery. I am definitely happy with the trimmer, once I replaced the head for an extra $25. This trimmer is now up to version 4, according to the Dewalt customer service people I spoke to.
They will offered an suggested I bring the trimmer to a repair shop to check on the unit, but there isn’t anything going wrong with the trimmer head which can be fixed. The line just gets tangled and there isn’t any way around it.
The previous versions (and the item photos and manual) show the old trimmer head, which has an internal divider which will keep the string from becoming tangled. The replacement head I bought is exactly what was supplied with this trimmer in previous versions.
I actually told Dewalt they should have stuck with the original design and the new attempt is garbage. The trimmer isn’t exactly lightweight, but it is pretty easy to maneuver. The straight shaft took a little getting used to, my previous trimmer was curved.
It is also longer than others, but also easy to get used to. In all honestly it could have been designed better in this regard also, would have made it lighter and easier to handle. This unit also works as an edger, just rotate and go.
It isn’t specifically designed for the task, so it isn’t a perfect edger, but still easy enough to use. Just another thing to get used to. Overall I’m happy with this one, I have my opinions on how to make it better, but I’m not going to get rid of this unit any time soon.
I bought this trimmer on Thursday evening hoping that on Saturday morning I could tackle my yard. Since I’m now widow, I’m replacing our gas operated with battery because the maintenance is easier and the equipment is lighter.
Well, to begin with the good, it’s light even with the battery attached. The battery is interchangeable with other dewalt tools which was a bonus because all of the power tools my husband had were dewalt.
Which leads me to the reason of the two stars. When I opened the box, no battery, no charger, no instruction book, no tool to tighten the bracket, no auxiliary handle. The box was clearly marked as to containing all of the above, the model number matched to having all of the above.
Luckily for me I have a hex key set, multiple batteries, a charger, the instruction booklet is online. No nice handle but I can make do without it. And living in Maryland right now taking it back to where I bought is not an option ( purchase online in store item with curbside pickups, limited number of people in the stores and limited hours makes returns near impossible to do.
) but I got enough to where it will do what it’s designed to do. Is it pain in the you know what to do it this way yes but you gotta do what you gotta do to get it done. And Will update my review once I take a shot at my if I didn’t have weeds I wouldn’t have grass yard.
But cmon, guys, double check your boxes before you ship.
The HONDA 4-stroke 22. 2cc trimmer with loop handle uses unleaded gas as fuel and requires no mixing. The easy-start GX25 engine of this straight shaft trimmer requires half as much fuel as other trimmers with 2-stroke engines.
It features a 17-inch semi-matic head that can be used with Ultra Quiet line to reduce the amount of noise produced by the tool. The Honda trimmer also features a handle designed to improve comfort and limit vibration, a solid and durable trigger design and a flex shaft made to increase shock absorption.
The shaft is durable and comes with a lifetime warranty. It only weighs 13 pounds, and each part, including the handle, throttle and engine are all designed to ensure maneuverability and balance. The straight shaft trimmer features low-end torque for partial throttle tasks, fast acceleration and easy storage with its inclinable engine.
This Honda is my 3rd one. The first one I used was the 25cc from a local tool rental place. I loved it. It is a 4cycle engine so no mixing oil with gas. Basically maintenance free and starts on the first or second pull about every time.
I prefer the 25cc. It is lighter than the 35cc. I have had both. The only reason I have owned three is because a guy that worked for me ran over the first one. Then the second one was not secured and fell out of my truck on the highway.
I am sure I would still have the first one if I was still using under normal wear and tear.
Today I opened my new Honda line trimmer to use for the first time. Trimmer started and wouldn’t run at full rpm as engine keeps sputtering. Has fresh gas, same gas used in my Honda mower when I mowed today, engine sputters more when it is trimming grass.
Bump head doesn’t advance line when tapped in the yard but will feed out line after hitting it HARD on the asphalt driveway. Reviews are correct about the bump head being junk. Trimmer is on the heavy side compared to prior trimmers I have owned.
I purchased this as I wanted a 4 cycle trimmer without messing with mixing oil & gas. I may have made a mistake especially if engine doesn’t stop sputtering and will have to take to be checked out. Would like Honda to respond concerning other complaints of engine sputtering and lack of power if this has been an issue with other HHT25SLTAT 4 cycle line trimmers and what corrections need to be made to correct this condition.
I am re-posting an update from by one out of five stars last year. I’ve tried to use the trimmer now a few times this spring and it is worse than it was last year. Has been back to the dealer for warranty and no better than what it was.
I’ve only owned for four months of usable time and I’ve gone back to my very old two cycle trimmer. On my earlier post Honda customer support said they were going to reach out which they never did. Will be taking it back to the dealer one last time for repairs and if it is no better after that I will put another post in and a video on Internet showing how it runs.
Incredibly frustrated and disappointed and cannot recommend this weed eater.
The Earthwise Power Tools by ALM cordless battery-operated trimmer is a convenient weed wacker with 10″ cutting width. It has a convenient design that makes your yard task easier. This planet-friendly cordless lawn edger is a good alternative to a gas-powered trimmer since it runs on electricity instead of fossil fuels.
The Earthwise 20-volt string trimmer does not emit harmful fumes. Since this weed eater is battery-powered, you no longer have to deal with long extension cords every time you need to work on your yard.
this has been a great string trimmer for me so far. it is light weight and very simple to operate, any one can use this without a problem. its not very powerful so don’t expect this to take overgrowth or for it to run for an hour.
I use this for about 10-15 minutes at a time and it doesn’t damage my wood fence or the siding around my house. So its strong enough for weed control but not strong enough to damage structure which is perfect for my fountains and bird feeders.
Only con: i cant seem to find the spare battery on WM. com, anyone know about this?.
Unit does exactly what it says it will do. The light weight makes it very easy to handle, and it is not as aggressive as a gas powered machine. You will not be able to run a landscaping business, but for fine work around plants you do not want to damage, this little trimmer works very nice.
Battery lasts an expectable amount of time, and the sound level is tolerable without ear protection.
I have a acre and was able to trim it all up. Without battery going dead. Easy to release string even doing manually. Like edge trimmer. Easy to put down when you need too. No need to pull any rope anymore.
This is great for small for sure. Just need to remember to bring battery in for the winter.
The Ryobi 40-Volt trimmer combines cordless convenience with exceptional run time. With a 40-Volt high-capacity battery, this string trimmer has more run time than most gas trimmers with fade-free power.
This trimmer features an auto-feed string head that advances line with the pull of the trigger and accepts any of the Ryobi auto-feed spools for quick and easy reloads. The Ryobi 40-Volt trimmer has a variable speed trigger, providing you with ultimate cut control.
This is my 3rd 40 volt trimmer because I have a lot of land. I stayed with Ryobi because I already have the batteries/chargers. It’s a lightweight version. The others weigh more because they have the rotating head for use as an edger.
This one came with super duty 2 strand trimmer line and It was too heavy for the cutting blade on the bottom of the grass shield to do it’s job. The line would extend uncut and get too long to work properly.
I changed to single strand line and it now works fine.
This is a well balanced and easily operated trimmer. The extra power of 40 over 20 volts allows you to tackle slightly more heavy trimming jobs but the smaller string size negates the extra power. I have rewound the spool with 80 size and it feeds reasonably well and cuts significantly heaver stuff, It remains a great home owner lawn trimmer but falls short trimming an irrigation ditch.
Battery for this trimmer charges quickly and puts out great power but is expensive. I my opinion the 40 volt for the average lawn is a overkill and a 20 volt with extra batteries for the same money is a better deal.
This is my first cordless trimmer, and I wonder what took me so long to get one. It is very easy to use and actually more powerful than the old, extension cord trimmer. If you have any of the 40v batteries, this tool-only purchase is the way to go.
This ONE+ Cordless String Trimmer from RYOBI is all about performance at an unbeatable value. Featuring an 18-Volt lithium-ion battery, this lightweight trimmer delivers a 10 in. cut width with a rotatable shaft for easy edging capability.
The battery recharges in just an hour, and as part of the RYOBI ONE+ family, the tool and battery are both compatible with all other ONE+ tools and batteries for exceptional versatility. 18-Volt lithium-ion battery delivers fade-free performance.
Works with all Ryobi ONE+ tools and batteries. Ergonomic front grip ensures comfortable operation. Simple press-and-turn conversion to edger mode.
IšverstiShow in original languageI have only had the trimmer for a few days so I can’t comment on it’s durability, but I CAN comment on it’s function. I have a large back yard that borders a lake that has a fence running through the middle of it to keep the dogs off the lake during the winter, so I have a BUNCH of fencing to trim around.
I got the Ryobi because I didn’t want to mess with yet another gas engine gizmo that ran terrible half the time, and since I had a bunch of Ryobi ONE+ tools I also had a bunch of batteries. I got it set up with a not fully charged 1.
5ah battery while the included 4ah battery charged. Even with the 1. 5ah batt running at the LOW power setting this trimmer showed the weeds and tall grass who was boss! As the 1. 5ah batt ran down I switched it over to HIGH speed and continued to cut.
I probobly did about 100′ of fence and house trimming on the small battery then switched over to the 4ah and did the same thing: ran it on LOW till the batt started dipping, Ryobi 18V ONE+ 10″ String Trimmer/Edger WITH 1.
IšverstiShow in original languageFor what it is, its ok. It works just fine but the major issue is battery life. We have a fairly small yard front and back. I had to change batteries at least 3 times just for the front yard.
I am so impressed with the trimmer’s ability to maintain the areas I need to maintain. I am able to get all of my trimming done on one battery. I know this may change in the future as the batteries age.
But so far, I am loving it. The trimmer is lightweight and I can even operate it with one hand if I need to reach far away weeds under my pool deck. (Or kill a wasp that got after me. True story. Used it like a light saber and splayed that wasp!).
IšverstiShow in original languagePerfect weed eater. Had been using another brand, but it was too heavy and my arms would tremor for hours after using it. This is great, cuts the thicker weeds well , the string feeds itself out like a dream.
No tremors after I finish using it. Ive landscaped rock on half of my former lawn, so the remainder takes 10 minutes with this treasure. If I run out of power I just swap the battery out from my flashlight, drill, etc and finish the job.
So happy I bought it. I really enjoy the spare battery charger too.
Milwaukee Tool 2825-21ST: Trimmer, M18 FUEL, Cordless, with Quik-Lok, Kit – Milwaukee M18 FUEL string trimmers with Quik-Lok are designed to meet the needs of landscape maintenance professionals. These versatile tools provide the power to clear thick brush reaching full throttle in under one second and delivering up to an hour of run-time per charge.
Their Quick-Lok attachment system is compatible with multiple accessories, such as Milwaukee’s edger, pole saw, or articulating hedge trimmer (all sold separately). The M18 RedLithium HD9. 0 battery offers “best in class” performance.
The easy-load trimmer head enables you to load up to 25 ft. of line in under 30 seconds.
I purchased this for my vacation home as I have standardized on M18 for that location. It does a fine job cutting high grass/weeds and I did not have any of the issues around it stopping from overheating that some reviews have mentioned (last use I basically ran it without stopping til the 8Ah battery depleted).
I also have an E** 1520s trimmer so I can compare. The E** is lighter, better balanced, spins faster, and cuts better (but that may just be the non-Milwaukee string), however it is not a multi-attachment product.
It also lasts longer (about 20%) with a 2. 5Ah 56V battery than the Milwaukee with the 8Ah 18V battery although the 8Ah battery actually has greater capacity (2. 5 x 48 = 120 < 8 x 18 = 144). Also, the Milwaukee unit spins counter clockwise (looking down at it) while the E** spins clockwise.
This means you hold the E** with your left hand on the throttle while Milwaukee you hold with your right hand on the throttle. I highly recommend you get the strap for the Milwaukee as it makes it much less tiring to operate for long periods.
Lastly, while the Milwaukee is not too bad to load string, frankly nothing else is as simple as E**’s method. While the above might sound a bit inconsistent with my rating it is not. The E** is a true commercial product and the Milwaukee is a quality prosumer product at a lower price point, which suits my needs (and then some).
If Milwaukee wants to make this a commercial landscaping product then it has a few things to work on. I also purchased the pole saw and an extension. These work great. NOTE the extension comes with a strap! The flexibility of adding attachments to this string trimmer is its real value.
I will be getting the hedge trimmer attachment next. Frankly anyone with a bunch of M18 tools and a yard should have this.
First, my husband & I have many Milwaukee products (he’s a big fan of the power tools) and thought to purchase this for me to use, due to the gas powered weed trimmers he has are too heavy for me to use around our property.
Sadly, this weed eater doesn’t work the way your advertising portrays. It will stop after 5 minutes of use and then start again. After the first use stoppage, it will then stop every 2 to 3 minutes of use.
We then have to start and stop it after that. It doesn’t work continually or consistently and our property requires a lot of trimming due to hillsides and rocks. At the most, the battery life is on average 20 minutes, not the 45 minutes claimed.
We returned the first one, thinking that it was a manufacturing issue that made it a one-off and came home with another one just like it. It wasn’t a one-off issue, it’s the whole product. If a homeowner shells out over $300 for a battery powered weed trimmer made by a high end manufacturer, one would expect to get their moneys worth.
If this is a overheating issue, then maybe it should be advertised to use in the wintertime, since it’ll be colder outside and the grass won’t be growing. It truly is a disappointment and needs to be tweaked substantially in order to be put in a category that it’s advertised to be in for yard work.
My husband & I wouldn’t recommend anyone getting this and it truly is a let down. Please feel free to let us know if there is a solution to this problem.
Love this string trimmer. Bought as a combo with the M18 blower. Two big benefits the string trimmer has vs gas trimmer is it’s very quiet, can use early in the morning and won’t wake the neighbors a plus for starting a job early and it is very powerful, instant max speed in a fraction of a second and of course variable speed to control around delicate areas.
The blower is fantastic, plenty of power for blowing leaves as well as clippings. The combo came with charger and one M18 RedLithium XC8 battery. I also purchased the XC12 RedLithium battery for jobs that require longer work time, especially for the blower.
I am very pleased with all my Milwaukee tools and most recently purchased 10 of the PacOut tool boxes and storage cases. Ingenuous design, and absolutely love how convenient the PacOuts are work with and access tools etc and the durability of the construction is best I have ever seen.
rock solid. I am excited to share my review because if someone is looking for the best, Milwaukee tools, PacOuts and accessories are the PREMIUM LEADER in quality, durability and design. Worth every penny!!! Shout out to the engineering and design teams, you folks are truly tradespeople and know exactly what we are looking for.

Do not buy! Still have price tag on this machine is how little I’ve used it. Clutch is out, won’t run on reg gas, only the canned stuff. Now I have a useless pole saw attachment because I will never buy Huskavarna ever again!.
I use this trimmer commercially on about 20 residential properties. It has plenty of power, and isn’t overly heavy on my acreages and customers lots that require a lot of line work. I purchased so I could add the edger attachment later as my edger is almost toast.
The unit is VERY cold blooded. Bogs and hesitates until it’s had a good minute plus run time on fast idle. Doesn’t matter if it’s my 2 stroke mix or Stihl fuel, no difference either way. Good addition to my trailer all considering.
There’s no beating this trimmer. It runs so smoothly, has more power than I expected/need. It’s perfectly balanced, and is literally 6 feet long from end to end, so it’s got a ton of reach and keeps you far back from flying objects and debris.
After I bought mine, a friend came by, tried it and threw down the money to have me order him one on the spot. It’s not California emissions complaint so it runs like a weed eater should, like they ran 20 years ago.
Look no further, you’re not going to do any better for this price point.
Take charge of the overgrown grass with Toros PowerPlex 14 BLDC String Trimmer. This cordless, 40-volt MAX string trimmer has a highly efficient brushless motor that supplies more power, a longer life and more run time than a brushed motor.
It is built for durability with its cast aluminum head, steel shaft and heavy-duty dual trimming line. The variable speed trigger allows you to run the machine as needed more power or more run time. Step up to this trimmer for a super powerful, efficient and long lasting tool.
With 90 watt-hours, the T90 battery provides up to 40 minutes of run time and this battery charges in approximately 60 minutes in the quick charger. Take charge of the yard with Toro PowerPlex tools.
I am very pleased with the Toro Power Plex Brushless Trimmer. I had PowerPlex chainsaw that uses the same battery and charger, so I was able to purchase the trimmer and not incur the cost of the battery and charger.
Since my chainsaw is used infrequently, this trimmer option allowed me to make better use of the battery I had. The trimmer works very well. It is sturdy, easy to assemble, powerful, and is very quiet.
I had a gas powered trimmer before this purchase that required a gas/oil mixture and a lot of pulling at the cord to get it started. I was afraid that a battery powered trimmer was not going to be powerful enough.
This PowerPlex trimmer has plenty of power and eliminates all of the cord pulling and gas mixing. It did the same job as the gas powered trimmer with much less hassle. I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this product.
Sought a battery powered string trimmer with near-commercial performance but without the weight and price. I believe I found it with this Toro PowerPlex 51482: 14” dual line, good battery size, variable speed brushless motor, reasonable weight, good battery power remaining indicators, good string diameter, good reviews.
Have used this for about a month (2-3 mowing lawn worth) on my medium sized yard for routine trimming with no issues whatsoever; battery still has 2 LEDs lit out of 4. I actually enjoy grabbing this baby off the garage wall and getting right to work- no electric cords to unwind and no gas or starting issues.
I have been using this tool with a T90 battery from another Toro tool. Easy assembly. Good balance with T90 battery. I only get 30-40 minutes run time depending upon how heavy/thick the overgrowth is.
This would be a better tool with a second battery or maybe the T180 battery, but I haven’t purchased either one yet because of cost. I suspect the T180 would change the balance a bit. I’m only 5′-4 and find the handle adjustment adequate for me.
Bump Feed of line is OK, but not great. Some line sticking in spool problems.
Works with all Ryobi 40-Volt lithium-ion tools and batteries 40-Volt lithium-ion slim pack battery and 60 min charger included Variable speed trigger for cutting control Premium 0. 080 in. twisted line Auto-feed string head for ease of use and quick reloads Product details String Trimmer · Cordless · Straight Shaft Cut down your grass in less time with this Ryobi 40V string trimmer.
An auto-feed spool allows fast reloading, and a 10 to 12-in. adjustable cutting width lets you cut longer or create a wider cutting path. For more control, it offers a variable-speed trigger. This trimmer includes a battery and charger that works with all Ryobi 40V batteries.
This tool is capable of making batteries “inoperable”. Unfortunately I found out that it was the common denominator in “failing” my batteries to a useless state, once all my batteries had miraculously died and a new one was attempted to be used in this tool.
I am not certain what is wrong with the tool as it starts, but dies almost immediately while it kills the battery for all use and charging.
The only problem I have with the weed eater is the string. It sticks together and I have to pry it loose by hand. The weed eater is very satisfactory and I would recommend it. I have used Ryobi weed eaters for years and have been pleased with them.
Enjoy two-in-one versatility with the Black & Decker Cordless Trimmer. It’s quiet and easy to start, delivering great cutting results without the mess and hassles of gas-powered trimmers. An automatic spool ensures continuous work without bumping and having to stop for adjustments, while adjustable height and pivoting handle positions provide maximum comfort and control.
The Black & Decker Cordless Trimmer is ideal for small to medium-size jobs. Sturdy steel handle and plastic handle are double for long-lasting use.
Online reviews were good, so I took a chance & I am happy. The battery will run for about 20 – 30 minutes wacking weeds & take 8 hours to recharge. My set came with the blower as well and a second battery! It is a professional looking charger, and the batteries are more advanced than those offered with the Matrix drill/ interchangable system- yes I bought one of those too on the same day- on SALE! Remember the nightmares of getting long grass or vines wrapped around the shaft of your gas trimmer? Having to shut down, cut & pull all the binding debris out? FORGET ABOUT ALL OF THAT NOW! This baby has not clogged in the least! No “tapping” to release more line (that’s what killed my Troy Built straight arm- it stripped the worm gear).
This baby automatically releases the line for you! I have drip systems & micro sprinklers- 1/4″ tubing aboveground. My old unit used to pretty much destroy them if I got too close. This B&D unit may pull the sprinkler out of place, but it won’t damage it or wrap around the shaft creatng leaks.
The B&D uses 0. 65 line and is optimal for the speed at which it operates. There are replacement spools available, or you can rewind your old spool. I live in the South, so I deal with some rather tough grass types & weeds.
This B&D unit takes care of them- Sedge, Crabgrass, blackberry, Virginia Creeper, just about anything without a woody stem- it will even cut seedling gumball & oak trees! There may be higher voltage trimmers out there, BUT- this BATTERY powers the ENTIRE LINE of MATRIX products!!! Drill, circular saws, flashlight, reciprocating saw, sander, router, hedge trimmer, weed wacker, blower, impact driver.
I’m sure new ones will come along even though I haven’t listed them all. Awesome! 1 year manufacurer warranty, with optional 2 year extension through Wal-Mart. How can you go wrong? I’m usually a sceptic, very pleasantly suprised! Replacement batteries are like $50, so I got the weed wacker, blower , and charger for $25- well, that’s how I look at it anyway.
Awesome deal! You’re not taking a chance- just step up an be happy with it. I’m a hardline sceptic & I am VERY impressed with the line of products so far (3) Last week bought a B&D mini-refridgerator at Wal-Mart.
My neighbor has this exact model and I borrowed his, so I knew what to expect. I bought mine refurbished from CPO and paid about half of what he did purchasing at a big blue & Gray box store locally.
Then I got double the warranty from CPO, I got a 2 year warranty rather than he standard one year warranty. I know my neighbor has had his rechargable trimmer several years already. This B&D LST 220 R2 rechargable combination trimmer/edger comes with 2 – 20 volt Lithium Ion batteries and a charger.
I got tired of mixing gas and oil, pulling the starter rope 100 times attempting to get the 2 cycle gas engine running, changing spark plugs; then when it finally did start it smoked, stunk and was noisey.
My neighbor Bob gave me a hot tip and I knew what I wanted after that, I ordered from CPO right away. Matter of fact several of the neighbors here have already converted to this unit. ! I had a minor problem with the adjustable auxillary handle locking in place properly, but CPO handled the problem immediatly; they DO ship FAST ! I highly recommend this unit for the suburban dweller.
You might want something bigger for the back 40 acres. CPO sells those too.
Shipped and received in good condition and on time. However the Auxiliary handle would come out of place during its use. Also it might be good for a very Small yard only, not enough power to cut half acre or more.
Even though lightweight, I had to bend over quite a bit to cut. I am only 5 foot 9 inches tall. Just seems very cheaply made. Would not recommend this product. Used only one time. Purchased a ECHO GT225 gas trimmer for about 20 dollars more and it worked much better.
The STIHL FS 38 Grass Trimmer is ideal for homeowners looking for a great value. High cutting speeds and a 15? cutting width trim time off landscaping chores by providing excellent cutting performance.
Its lightweight design – just 9. 3 pounds! – along with an ergonomic loop handle, curved shaft and low vibration provide operator comfort as well as exceptional handling and maneuverability around landscaping obstacles.
I’ve got one blower BG-50, and a weed eater FS-38. Both of them don’t even start after a new season, for the weed eater and a third for the blower. How can I as a consumer want to buy anything from you guys ever again? I’m not going to take my dang equipment to a small engine repair shop for a tune up or a fix when your competitors make comparable products that don’t break as fast and do just as fine.
You guys didn’t invent the chainsaw or the weed eater or the dang blower, but you have your own exclusive oil for your product and any other two cycle will f::C your sh))t up. I’m not shopping for a car.
I need something that works consistently year after year. Stihl products don’t. Unless you want to treat your blower like a doting parent and shell out valuable cash to send it to a small engine repair shop for light duty work after one season.
I’m using fresh oil and gas every new season. Look at it this way, if I buy A 129. 00 weed eater from Stihl, and it’s not working properly after only one season, am I going to go get it fixed? or get another brand thats less expensive, and after that finally breaks seasons later, I just go out and get a new cheap one.
Hell, my local small engine repair shop exclusively works on Stijl equipment, they should be thanking y’all for keeping the customer flowing.
I purchased an FS38 weed eater. It was a problem from day one. We had issues starting it. Got it going then the line feeder wouldn’t feed out the line when tapped on the ground. I’d take it in they’d fix it and the next time I’d use it I had to take it back in again.
After taking it back several times, they finally said I needed a new head. Which they did not give me even though the original didn’t work. I paid for it and that one did the same thing. I then buy a different style head and that one works for a while then stops working.
I email Stihl, they send me a head where you feed precut line into a head, so every time you need new line you have to turn it off put in the line and restart. However now the line breaks almost instantly.
The pull start handle then won’t recoil so I have to replace that. I email Stihl again then play phone tag for two weeks before I talk to someone who basically said it was me and not the trimmer. I spent more on a Stihl because it was supposed to be better.
I know a few people who have one and it works great for them. Ace hardware told me it was likely a bad one, which happens from time to time. I’m very disappointed to say the least that the company is not replacing it, as it has been trouble from the onset.
I’m now pitching it and buying a different brand!.
Researched trimmers upon buying my first home, and landed on this one. Although it was pricier than most, I wanted to pay more for good quality. The first red flag should have been when the sales person at F&F gave me a demonstration, and it took her 20 minutes to get it started.
I exclusively used the specific (and overpriced) Stihl oil that is recommended. It worked without challenges for a little less than a season. Two summers in, and takes 10 minutes to start, and doesn’t run in idle (must be full throttle or it power cuts).
After three summers, it now runs for 45 seconds before shutting off. Absolute garbage. I’m guessing Stihl is just the next company to short cutting quality to make a bigger profit. Will never buy Stihl anything again.
The bump feed head provides 13 In. of swath with DeWalt’s 0. 080 In. line. The variable speed trigger offers precise power control as well as performance and runtime management with the hi/lo speed control switch.
Well balanced and only 8. 5 lbs (with a 20 V MAX* 5. 0 Ah battery–DCB205), the string trimmer is easy to maneuver and puts less stress on the user.
Maybe 3. 5 or 3. 75 stars. First of all I’m a homeowner and not a pro. Second I own several DeWalt 20v tools and battery packs so I’m already invested in the 20V system. 3rd, I love the low noise battery powered tool so much better than listening to 15-30 minutes of a 2 cycle motor screaming away for when I need to use a trimmer weekly.
4th, for light use the bare tool paired with packs I already own suffices for what I generally need so works great for that light homeowner use. 5th: I wish it had a tool-less adjustable handle rather than having the handle locked down with 4 hex head screw.
Would be nice to adjust with OUT tools. Anyway , I recently volunteered to do some heavier trimming at our local pool club and I was limited by only getting 15-17 minutes per 5ah battery pack. There was about 90 minutes of work but I had to do it over two days given the 3x 5ah packs needed needed to cool down and charge in between use.
I was operating the machine at hi power and running it constantly (so worse conditions for battery life). Because the trimmer is only 12-12 inches wide and runs 15 minutes I would not buy this exclusively as a battery powered trimmer if I had I not already owned 5Ah 20v packs or if I needed to be able to do larger jobs.
Instead I’d look for something that has a wider cut swath as I find the cut width limiting for larger jobs and that can run longer. Maybe the DeWalt 60V trimmer would be something I would look at first or maybe the Echo or other brands of battery powered trimmer that are out there (Echo chainsaw + trimmer seem nice).
Yes I can buy 8ah 20v DeWalt packs but that are $150 each or so and IMO that cost + the cost of this trimmer is too much for what you get. 5ah is more than plenty for any of my tools so rather than buy 9ah pack for specifically the trimmer I’d rather buy a gas trimmer or larger more powerful model on battery rather than larger 20v packs.
The non-removable head is a HORRIBLE concept. Grass and weed debris easily gets in the space above the head and the thing above it, and the “bump” doesn’t work at all, and it will not turn at all like it is supposed to load line into it.
Reloading the trimmer line into it is a very cumbersome two-person process. This is not the quality i was expecting from DeWalt. It worked great for 91 days and then it starting becoming just like all my other junk trimmers i’ve ever owned.
I can’t even attach a rino tuff head to it because it has a “screw you” non-removable head. DeWalt doesn’t even make an alternative head for easier trimmer mechanisms, but if they did, it would probably not have means to attach on this trimmer.
So I’m going to think twice about buying Dewalt again, despite all the batteries I’ve purchased, and despite the good use I’ve gotten from the corded reciprocating saw and the cordless drill I have. Poor design and a lost investment.
I’m back to manually tugging out line after every 5 minutes of use.
Bought the trimmer in April 2019 the trimmer started out good. But as soon as the line gets low look out. Reloading is another story, so you line up the notches. Now try to put your line that’s curved through, you have to take the hood cover off and use needle nose pliers to guide it thru.
Put the cover back on center your 25 feet and start turning counter clockwise. Ready to go sounds easy but not. You start trimming again and need to bump feed the line gets jammed inside. Start over reloading, tried it with someone holding the line and putting a little tension on the line.
Every time I took it apart the trimmer line is crossed and tight, so it will not advance. The trimmer disappears inside. A 30 minute job took an hour and a lot of frustration. It is the worst system for reloading the trimmer line I have every owned.
I can’t believe this is from Dewalt, sorry it is garbage.
The Husqvarna 524LK String Trimmer is a combination string trimmer featuring an X-Torq engine considered best-in-class for commercial use. A variety of attachments are available for this model: brushcutter, blower, brush, hedge trimmer, cultivator, string trimmer and weed scissor.
The X-Torq engine is powerful, yet reduces fuel consumption and produces fewer emissions. An air purge system removes air from the carburetor for easy starting. The 524LK model is a four-cycle engine – no need to mix fuel!.
I have 2 of the 525L trimmers. Bought the first one in 2019 loved it! Trimmer head went out in early 2020. With Covid there was zero customer support at shops. So I bought a second one in 2020 figuring that when Covid was over I would get the first one fixed.
The second unit trimmer head gearbox went out in late 2020. Dealer said they were 6 months out before they could touch it. Second dealer said that they no longer dealt with Husqvarna warranties. So I bought 2 trimmer head bevel gears and used the trimmers through 2021.
Towards the end on 2021, one of the trimmers quit running. I have thrown everything at it, tune up, carb, fuel lines. Starts and dies when you give it throttle. Anyway I am on here trying to decide what to replace it with and thought I should give a long term review.
These are good units. I use these an average of 6 hours a day at an hour to an hour and a half at a time. Wish the servicing dealers were as good as the machines. I may still buy another one. Low weight, great power, great fuel economy.
I haven’t found another unit that compares in the power to weight ratio.
525L is a strong trimmer, cuts everything with ease. When it runs. Stopped like I just turned it off while using. Took it in for a warranty repair. They charged me less than $30. 00 and returned it to me stating it was simply flooded.
Okay, I’m not perfect so I paid the fee because I was happy to have my workhorse back. Didn’t last the entire day till it just cut off while using. Returned it to the shop and they replaced the ignition coil and all was good till the warranty ran out.
It cut off while running just like before. Took the coil off my 525ECS because its the same engine, its simply an edger. Trimmer fired right up after the part swap no problem. Felt good about everything till I priced a replacement part.
$114. 00 or $70. 00 for a used one on Ebay. Very disappointed with the Husqvarna quality. Replacement parts are nearly 33% of the initial cost of new one. Just like the title say, Good product till it’s not.
Purchased this model on 8/7/21 and had trouble with it CONSTANTLY. I was only able to use it about 3 or 4 times before I finally decided to exchange it for a different model. Every time I started it up (oil+gas mixture measured perfectly), it would work for about 30 minutes and then die.
That was WHEN it would actually start. Many times, it wouldn’t start at all, or it would act like it was going to start and then I’d put the choke down and it would die again. Right before I returned it, I noticed that the only way it would start up was if the choke was up but as soon as you put it down, it would start to die unless you pull the choke up again.
It basically would only “run” if you were constantly pulling the choke up and down. I’ve never been more disappointed in a string trimmer. I purchased this to replace my Troy-bilt that had lasted me about 4 years.
Husqvarna has a good reputation so I thought I was putting my money into something that would last, how wrong I was. Once I exchanged the first trimmer for a different model, I couldn’t even get the BRAND NEW ONE to even start.
I followed the directions to a tee and nothing. Luckily, my local Tractor Supply has EXCELLENT customer service and not only did they let me exchange the first one for a newer, more expensive model, but once I realized the second was complete crap, they just let me get a full refund for the trimmer AND the extended warranty.
Do yourself a favor, avoid Husqvarna string trimmers and put your money into something that actually works and will last.

Rotational direction of the trimmer head can be changed. Heavy duty twin line cutting system with Tap ‘n Go for quick line feed. Intuitive controls and normal or savE modes for maximum power or maximum runtime.
Weatherproof – fulfils the IPX4 classification for rain resistance. Low maintenance with less parts and electronically controlled drive system. Brushless motor provides a high and consistent torque. No direct emissions or vibrations make it an Earth friendly option.
I’ve only had this thing for 3 days but. It is amazing so far. My yard is 3 acres and in south Louisiana so I bought the commercial unit. Our ~20 year old gas weed trimmer broke last summer and I just refused to spend more money repairing it again so we haven’t trimmed the yard all summer.
It’s July now and we usually start grass cutting season in late Feb. I pretty much trimmed the whole yard including 500+ feet of fence line, 250+ feet of ditch, all the way around our 50’x 65′ shop, in the garden and around numerous trees.
Also did some bad spots around the drive which is combo of asphalt and gravel and about 400′ long in total. I listed all that to just give an idea of what was accomplished on less than 1 charge. I bought the BLi200X battery and the dealer charged it for me before I picked it up.
After doing all of the above (in eco mode) I still have 1 LED out of 4 lit on the battery. I really don’t even see much reason to use the non-eco mode. I was cutting some fairly heavy stuff at times and never needed any more “umpf” than eco mode supplies.
I did try the non-eco mode out a bit but just did not need it. The reverse function was nice to keep stuff from being thrown in my face while “edging” the drive. 100% effective for that. Anyway, so far this trimmer is great.
Light enough, well balanced and simple to operate. The only bad thing I would say about this whole experience so far is Husqvarna’s web site. It’s just clunky, not up to date and hard to use. I rated durability, and value because it wouldn’t let me finished until I did.
After 3 days, I’m hardy qualified to be an expert there.
I have been using this trimmer for 2 months now and I can’t believe the power this trimmer has. It’s better than my gas powered trimmer. This trimmer has little to no vibration, very lightweight and easy to use and well balanced.
I added a Darwin grip to it and have taken this trimmer to a new level. I can do my entire yard 2 times on one charge. I have a creek in my back yard and it takes down thick weeds like they were nothing.
Well worth the purchase. I will be buying bigger batteries to use this in my Lawncare business daily.
I really enjoy using this battery trimmer compared to my gas, no engine exhaust, no vibrations, no pulling the rope just turn it on and go. The BL200 batteries provides me with enough run time in the reduced power setting to go all day with 2 batteries.
However, I have found down fall on the unit, that is the trimmer head does not like to advance line, compared to the T35 trimmer head. My dealership did install a new trimmer head and still did not advance well.
About 80% of the time I have to manually pull the string. I have tried the different types of diameter line and still line would not advance. The few times that I have gotten to advance I was hitting the trimmer on a driveway with pretty good force to get the line to come out.
If Husqvarna can get some sort of an update kit to get the larger T35 head on it this would be great.
