20 Best Lightweight Foundation For Summer (2023 Updated)

So I only just got this serum yesterday, but I applied it right away and ended up sleeping in it (because laziness and also just to see if any breakouts or anything weird/itchy would happen I guess); then I reapplied again this morning before work.

I’m loving it! I’ve been wanting a tinted mineral sunscreen that doesn’t suck the moisture out of my seemingly Sahara-like skin. I’m older now soooo my skin has decidedly become drier and crinklier (I think I’ve always been combination/regular, never exceptionally oily and my lifestyle/diet/age has tipped me into the drier territory).

I wouldn’t say this serum makes me as GLISTENING as the video ad models, but it might make an oilier gal shine. For me, the resulting finish/feel is smooth, soft, and comfortable. It evens out my skin tone with just the slightest soft glow and provides SPF so that’s pretty much right up my alley.

I have provided pictures showing the one side of my face where you can truly see my new age spot and some redness going on (I have recently been sunburnt, but also tend to show redness naturally)— no primer or lotions or other potions underneath this time around.

Then just the other side because *cute* 😊 Shows the coverage is definitely light, but in my opinion buildable. It’s a sticky formula that I dropper into the palm of my hand, rub together, and then rub onto my face like lotion and then sort of press in.

Never have and never will apply it with a sponge or brush because I’m a finger gal. I don’t often struggle too much with color matching as I am a white person with neutral undertones, but I will say it does apply lighter straight from the bottle.

Coverage is so light anyway that one could possibly make several shades work for them if necessary (but “haha” at that comment because your wallet would cry if that had to happen…okay maybe just mine…)—if you’re nervous about your shade, just stick to your usual color-picking tendencies and it’ll probably work for you.

I did not get matched by the website. It’s easy, it’s seemingly skin-benefiting, it’s expensive BUT everything is these days, so I’m gonna rock it til it’s gone (and probs buy more when I’m out). Ps.

I got a teeny sample of the overnight lip mask and that is absolutely dreamy (not wearing it in the pictures…if you can tell lol…I should have 😬). Beauty on, humans! ✨.

Okay here is my very extensive review of ilia’s skin tint. I just got this in the mail this week and have been waiting to write a review to make sure I love. It is beautiful on – enough coverage that I look like I’m wearing something without covering everything.

I provided a pic where I am wearing no makeup besides the skin tint. I normally use Lancôme for full coverage foundation which covers my freckles and any blemishes. This however provides a nice glow while protecting your skin and still shows tans, freckles, whatever else.

Perfect for what I was looking for but if you want full coverage, this isn’t it. When you originally put it on, it looks lighter but adjusts to your skin tone. Idk how but it does lol I was matched on ilia’s website and it matches perfectly.

The directions say you should apply a quarter amount I believe, but that seems to be too much for me as a little goes a long way. I think it’ll be trial and error for each person on how much they need but a dime amount is perfect for me.

I have combination skin and throughout the day, I noticed the skin tint does seem to concentrate on the dry area (currently where I’m peeling on my forehead) but it is not a huge deal. It does have a strong unpleasant smell like others mentioned but goes away after a few minutes of applying and I noticed it causes my mascara on my bottom lashes to run some throughout the day but plan to just put extra setting powder under my eyes to prevent this.

I have been watching for leakage from the packaging and haven’t noticed that being a problem like others stated BUT also haven’t traveled with it yet. All I all, I really like it! I am happy about my purchase but couldn’t give five full stars due to smell and mascara running because of it.

However, after this bottle is gone – I do plan to buy again!.

finally, the best daily SPF buildable skin tint on the market. I consider myself an SPF enthusiast and I hardly write reviews for products–I started my SPF journey after my mother was diagnosed with a small basil cell carcinoma (skin cancer lesion) on her forehead, when I was in my early 20s and she in her early 50s.

As a result of seeing that and caring for her, I knew I was putting myself at risk by not wearing SPF daily. I’ve tried SO many products promising impossible things to the point where I just considered my standards to be too high! Consider my opinion changed after finding this product.

I’m 32 years old now and don’t have too many skin concerns (other than a forehead wrinkle) because I am so diligent with my skincare routine. I absolutely love that this skin tint from ILIA is buildable, but still looks like you’re wearing nothing on your skin, has high SPF (most are 15 and under for daily wear) and PLANT-BASED squalene (for the vegans, yay)! I am first and foremost a “skincare mandatory, makeup optional” kind of person and this product ticks all of the boxes for me in that respect–I don’t own foundation so this is a great base for me in combination with sometimes using concealer if the need arises (I use RMS Uncover Up under my eyes, when needed).

I went with the “Rendezvous – ST1” for the New England winter season and will likely go one shade darker in the summer, when I get some color. This is without a doubt the most natural skin tint I’ve ever tried and it pairs so well with my moisturizer and facial oils (from Herbivore Botanicals).

If you’re thinking about it, go for it. The range of skin tone options puts this product ahead of it’s competitors as well. Like I said, I’ve tried SO many SPF products on my face I could probably have made a career out of it and this one has absolutely topped my list.

I know everyone has different skincare and SPF needs, but for me, I doubt I’ll ever find anything that could be better than this product.

Wow. That’s all I can say. Pros- – wide color range with pictures distinctly labeled warm , cool, neutral, making it very easy to find your perfect color – unlike most long wearing foundations, this doesn’t look chalky, thick, or mask like.

It ends up looking like skin not like a thick layer of makeup applied to your face. -I have combination skin that’s very easily dried out and then gets flaky and oily, I bought a dewy setting spray from Walgreens to give this a nice satin finish.

If your skin is normal you will probably get the satin finish from this alone. Ten years ago I tried the bare minerals powder and a tube lipstick that was shown. I did not care for the lipstick, it went on with an uneven texture, didn’t have a nice finish, and didn’t wear well.

The powder foundation was much too yellow and didn’t look nice on my combination skin that’s often much to dry for anything other than a cream. You guys have really stepped it up with bare pro and the mineral liquid lipstick! Blown away by the color selection you offer that includes everyone.

It is so frustrating when a brand does not even make a color that works for you. I am fair and cool, there’s a lack of these shades in the market. The shade shell matched perfect.

The circumstances for when I first got this foundation we’re totally a coincidence. I had gotten a BareMinerals gift of another one of my favorite products in a shade that was too dark. Prom was also coming up and I needed a foundation that would keep me matte and look good in pictures.

So I went to the BareMinerals store and asked if they had any matte foundations, to which I discovered this. Never have I loved a foundation more. I have combo oily skin and this keeps me so so matte, but with a perfectly natural finish.

The way my skin looks in this is like a “your skin but better” product. My oily mother normally sticks to the products she’s used for years, but the minute she tried this we both had to run out and buy it for our summer and winter shades.

It’s AMAZING!! I couldn’t even understand why it didn’t have all 5 stars, but I’m assuming that it is probably a better foundation for oily skin (like most matte foundations are). I use this on top of the Combo Control Milky Face Primer also by BareMinerals, and the compliments for perfect skin don’t stop coming (and I have some major acne scarring, so I’m far from perfect😭).

I had a severe allergic skin reaction to two different medications that left tons of underlining health issues for me. I always had great complexion my whole life, clear and no redness. I wore foundation for fun and mostly light powder for everyday.

Feeling self conscious of my skin for the first time in my life at 27, I’m 30 now; I had tried about everything. Got to the point where I had to change everything I used, skincare, haircare etc. Anything I used in the past started to burn, itch, make the blister reaction come back angrily.

After a suggestion my dermatologist made to try bare minerals I haven’t looked back this is the only thing I use for foundation now. My skin actually stays pretty clear now partially thanks to this product and the way it blurs any scarring or imperfections I have now is amazing.

I cried the first week I used this and everybody tells me that my skin looks so much better and healthy! I still have the reaction come back but this doesn’t aggravate like other foundations do. After a year of use this will be staple for years to come!!.

I really like this as far as being vegan, parabens, and silicone free. I love that it’s a broad spectrum SPF as well. It’s light weight, moisturizers with natural oils and has a dewy finish. It’s not great with oily skin but with a tiny bit of setting powder it works well.

I used the goop brand mineral SPF powder with it. The sunshine skin tint is a light coverage skin tint. The color match is really tricky as there is not a huge selection to pick from. My daughter and I both are fair skinned even in the summer but this fair was just a little too dark but the next lighter color (the light shade) was too light.

When blended well it’s not really noticeable. This has a glass roller ball to apply witch at first we thought was pretty neat, it’s a mess! It’s hard to get the correct amount of product on your face at first so we wasted a good bit.

We both had to use a brush or a sponge blender and it takes a bit more work to get everything evenly coated. If the color match was better I don’t think you’d have the same issues with the blending. I really do like how this feels and looks on the skin, especially with my teen who has dry skin.

I just don’t think I’ll purchase again for myself unless they add in more color choices or re design the applicator.

I first tried this from a Sephora sample and loved it. Thought it was the most beautiful, longest lasting skin tint that I have tried thus far. I purchased a full size from Milk and immediately hated the application.

I’d rather this come in a packet. It just gets goopy and you waste product wiping the roller ball off and I feel like it’s uneven. I get what they were going for, and I’m sure there are some people out there who love the rollerball style but it ruins the product for me personally.

It’s such a great skin tint, light to medium coverage, lasts a long time and looks so skin like, has a slight but pleasant smell so it’s just such a bummer that it comes in this applicator. If they took it out of that and made it a tad cheaper it would 1000% be worth it.

As much as I love it, I don’t think I will repurchase unless I can figure out a different way to get the product out of the tube. PS I find the best way to apply is to roll it all over and blend out with a sponge, my brushes caused too much patchiness and took away coverage.

A dry sponge, surprisingly, seemed to add coverage. I would recommend only if you think you could deal with the roller ball application! If not, go for a different skin tint!.

This foundation is extremely heavy texturewise and felt like it stayed sticky and sitting on top my skin for a very long time. It might work great for people who have extremely dry skin, but I felt like it was way too much for me, even though I’m dealing with some dryness from winter.

In summer this would definitely break me out. It felt like it was hard to blend it in and it never absorbed, and I could still feel it on my face after 30 minutes. It stayed tacky for the rest of the afternoon and I eventually took it off because of how uncomfortable it was.

(I don’t tend to be bothered by stuff like this usually). It smells strongly of sunscreen even after it had been a couple hours. I didn’t love it. I think the sunblock component is on the cheap side and responsible for the thick/sticky texture.

It’s disappointing because I’ve used other cheaper foundations with higher SPF that don’t have the greasy texture and strong smell this one does. The shade range is also really weird. I’m usually able to find a foundation that matches my skin tone in Milk products, but it seems like there are really big gaps between each shade for this product.

I’m slightly cool toned and fair skinned, but the “Fair” shade was WAY too pink and pale for me. The next cool toned shade was too dark and also too pink. I ended up going with the neutral shade in between the two, which was a decent match but still a bit warm toned, especially after it oxidizes.

I can fix the issue with a cool toned powder, but you shouldn’t have to for how much this costs. I love Milk but this product needs some work. I don’t recommend it. I’ll stick with my other Milk foundation.

I’m returning this one.

I’ve been a makeup artist since 2006 and get discounts on most pro makeup lines, so when I like a drugstore foundation, it’s a winner. It is a thin consistency but nicely pigmented for medium buildable coverage and dries to a satin natural finish.

I’m very fair and found no oxidation for myself or anyone else, some powders can cause that though. This would be best selling even if it were a $40+ luxury brand, it’s that good. Because it is thin, it will not blur pores or cover texture, you’ll want a thicker full coverage foundation and/or primer for that.

A dampened beauty blender (love an AOA Pawpaw) is ideal application, beware of harder sponges like orange Real Techniques. Prep is always well hydrated and exfoliated skin. I saw bad reviews stating this looks bad on dry skin.

You shouldn’t be dealing with dry skin when you put on foundation, you need to address that in skincare first: thicker moisturizer and/or oil at night, a lighter moisturizer before foundation that leaves no residue the foundation will fight with.

I recommend CeraVe PM for that. The Ordinary Glycolic toner every couple of days will keep you exfoliated. If you need extra coverage, I recommend using a liquid concealer (Elf 16hr or Tarte Shapetape) applied haphazardly to dark areas and blemishes first, then allow to dry down a bit before bouncing on this foundation.

The bouncing and letting the concealer wet wont move it, and it’ll provide extra coverage only where needed.

This is a medium coverage foundation that you can build up or turn it into more of a tinted moisturiser just by adding 1-2 pumps of moisturiser into the foundation before applying. It has great wear time does sit well under translucent powder, especially if you wanted to customise the glow for oily skin types for example.

Lovely hydrating formula perfect for normal to dry skin. It blends in incredibly easy sits well under cream blushes bronzers. Convenient packaging for travel touch ups. I apply this with a sponge but hands or brushes all work well for this.

This is water resistant formula however, under very warm conditions or if you are prone to perspiration you think you may need to touch up during the day I’d advise not setting with a powder as the powder once set into the skin might make touch ups not look as flawless could lift the powder underneath.

Leaves a lovely healthy glow at drugstore prices. Definitely recommend.

I’m pleasantly surprised by this foundation. As an oily/combo skin girl, I usually gravitate towards the matte options for fear of looking like an oil slick. However, as I’m getting older I notice my skin is changing a bit.

Matte foundations just end up looking cakey and separating on my skin after a while, so I decided to try a more hydrating foundation. I’m so glad I did, this wears beautifully! It is a very natural finish, covers imperfections, and is very long lasting (with me blotting once during the day).

The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the shade range is terrible. I couldn’t find my exact shade and I have to use my own pigment mixers to fix the shade I bought. They need deeper shades as well.

More options for different undertones would be great. Overall, I’m glad I picked this up!.

This is my first drug store foundation, I have used it for about a year now and I have to say it has raised the bar for any foundation I will purchase in the future! I even decided to wear it to my high school graduation ceremony because this foundation is so versatile, you can do both “no makeup” looks and full glam with it.

It has an even, velvet finish and covers my pores without having to use any pore filling primer beforehand. It has buildable coverage and does not pill, considering I wear layers of SPF with it. What I love about this foundation is that there is a “glow from within”, some foundations tend to take away all of the natural tones in your skin, but with this foundation, I can skip the blush and highlighter if I’m in a rush.

It is not too heavy on the skin and, I’ve noticed others mention it to be too radiant, but that can easily be fixed with powder to your liking. This never leaves patchy spots on my skin and also lasts under masks for hours.

Holy wow. Here’s my honest review. When CT launched at Mecca, I had no idea who she was. I saw people fangirling everywhere, attended the online event, but felt a little oversold. I didn’t end up purchasing anything.

Fast forward to me walking into Mecca, heart set on trying the Westman Atelier foundation sticks after falling head over heels for the blush/contour sticks. They didn’t have WA and the AMAZING shop assistant, I think his name was Aaron (Mecca Garden City), spent several minutes helping me find a suitable foundation that I would love – even though they were close to closing.

I wanted something that matched my skin perfectly, that I didn’t necessarily have to apply all over. I’m prone to chin acne flareups but the rest of my skin is usually in great condition and I’m REALLY time poor.

After trying a few other brands, he suggested CT and I begrudgingly accepted trying it. And he swept it onto my cheek and it basically disappeared into my skin and airbrushed it. I literally couldn’t tell I was wearing it.

I happily bought it there and then. He also gave me some great tips for applying it so allow me to share and fangirl over this. I use the Hourglass Vanish Foundation brush and I spray it with MAC fix it + prime spray.

I shake the foundation WELL, and put a squirt on the back of my hand. I stipple brush it over my face – NOT swipe. It blends SEAMLESSLY. I can hardly tell I’m wearing it. I also have super oily skin, so I purchased the Urban Decay setting powder (I liked it more in store than the CT equivalent).

Whether the powder, foundation, or happy combination of both: my foundation does NOT budge. I don’t have an issue with oil through the day, and the foundation retains its dewy glow for me. It’s my skin, but perfect, and I LOVE it.

SO happy I walked into Mecca that day as this is nothing like the other sheer foundations I’ve tried. Also, I can build it up if needed! It’s sheer mostly because I use the spray with it (personal preference).

If I want to build it for coverage I just use it without spray and reapply in that area.

This is yet another one of The Ordinary’s hero products. For a few years now I’ve been using their skin care products for my day and night time routines. They work, they are sustainable in terms of price and frequency of having to replenish/repurchase and the packaging is beautiful.

This foundation is no exception. The price point is incredible (There are drugstore brands that are twice the cost). The pump dispenses just the right amount. Shake well, apply product on the back of your hand, use your favorite beauty sponge and enjoy the results.

It’s light coverage so for all of us who love tinted moisturizers or just a hint of color, this is perfect. The first time I wore this, I had the following products underneath – HA, Vitamin C serum and my sunscreen.

I never use setting powder and rarely use a setting spray on top of makeup. Since it was my first time wearing this, I did not apply anything else on top. It lasted for hours, stayed put while I ran errands and looked even under my eyes (which is such a tricky area for me when it comes to concealer or foundation) until the end of the day.

Definitely worth a try. And with some Ulta stores having these in store, it was awesome to be able to sample a few shades before buying what I loved. So thank you Ulta.

This is the newest foundation I have in my foundation collection. I’ve only used this a couple of times, but I really do enjoy the natural coverage of this product, it looks really nice and natural but you can build it up and get some pretty good coverage.

I have a little bit of redness and hyperpigmentation and it does a good job of blurring and hiding those imperfections without looking too overdone. It does set down to a more satin soft powder type of finish as well, so I actually prefer it with a more illuminating products underneath, as I feel like I get a little more dewiness which I really like.

Obviously with this brand it’s a skincare line, so it’s really geared towards being more of a skincare infused makeup. However I don’t really look much to makeup products to give me skincare results, however I think the skincare benefits added are really great but I don’t think it’s a magic fix, because you obviously still want to be using really great skincare to address problems, however it can’t hurt to have skincare infused products.

Overall this foundation makes your skin look really pretty and natural and I really like the way it looks.

I debated weather to give this three or four stars, but I went with four, because in the end, it works for me. Based on the name “serum foundation” I expected it to be hydrating and somewhat sheer, but it actually has a natural to matte finish and coverage that can build to full.

I didn’t like this, because I tend to go for a “my skin but better” look, but I found that applying a small amount with a little bit of moisturizer overtop gives me what I’m looking for, and honestly that just saves me money since I use so little product, so I don’t mind.

There are also some unexpected benefits. I have very acne-prone skin and one night I wore this without washing it off (bad idea, regardless) and it didn’t break me out at all! It didn’t even worsen my existing acne.

Also, it is LONG WEAR. Like, I put it on at noon, went to a concert at 7, got back at 10:30, slept with my face on the pillow, and in the morning, there wasn’t a trace on my pillow and my face looked the same way it did when I applied it.

The only thing I wore with it was a touch of powder. That was truly shocking. Again, I only wore a small amount so results may differ with a more full-coverage look, but I still think regardless that this could be the type of makeup you don’t have to think about at all after you apply it.

I’m now well into my 30’s and have been looking for something like my favorite high school foundation. Yes, I’m Serious! I have fair, combination dry skin, I burn easily, and I use tretinoin and sunscreen everyday, so my skin is already pretty even and clear sans normal hormonal redness around the nose and mouth, but sometimes I can appear “flat” or dull.

With that in mind, I’m a big baby about what I put on my face. I have been looking for a foundation that feels lightweight, doesn’t dry me out, and looks radiant, because my major everyday makeup goal is a great complexion, a nude lip, and a bold lash, but with a touch of that CT romantic glam magic.

Think clean girl aesthetic meets dreamy romantic. This foundation does it all for me. I recently moved across the US and packed most of my makeup and skincare, as well as belongings in a moving truck and only took a few staples for the road, so I don’t have a lot to work with in terms of finding the right combination of products.

Unfortunately, what did arrive was all destroyed, so I can’t test it with other sunscreens or primers, products, etc. I was worried at first about pilling or patchiness, but I gave myself a little pep talk and took this opportunity to look on the bright side and try new things and I’m so glad I did! I got a (wonderfully sized) sample at Sephora, in 1N and 3N from the lovely Arielle in the Dallas Galleria location.

I have neutral to cool undertones (I’m so pale you can see my veins in most places). The 1N is PERFECT! I’ve never had such a great match. It lasts all day, it’s luminous, it didn’t oxidize or yellow, making me look ill.

I set it with the fair CT powder travel size from my travel bag, then mini airbrush finishing spray, and it wears all day like a dream. No creasing, flaking, caking or breakdown. I just look put together! (And I live in DALLAS now!) Yesterday, I returned to Sephora and purchased the full size, as well as the hyaluron kiss in crystal kiss which is also, AMAZING! This is going to be a HG product for me, I know it, and I’m so excited to work hard and rebuild my collection.

If you’re having doubts, TRY IT. I’ve never looked so radiant, and almost ageless (I work with and manage ladies ten years my junior and they’re all shocked I’m “so old. ”). Last night, I joined the loyalty program because I’m now hooked on CT forever.

I was really excited to try this out. This foundation was was very hydrating. I noticed that it made my skin brighter and made my pores less visible. The coverage was medium. This foundation stayed in its place and doesn’t come off until you use makeup remover.

I have sensitive, oily skin. I’m also beginning to get some fine-lines at 36. Since the pandemic, I’ve started wearing makeup less and now I HATE the feeling of anything on my skin. This is a game changer for me.

It’s non-greasy and such a thin consistency that it feels like nothing is on my face. It doesn’t cake or settle in lines/wrinkles or creases (like around your nose which I hate). It also doesn’t have any fragrance.

When choosing your shade you really need to test it in the store. I always wear fair-neutral in all foundations and when I tried this using the virtual try-on, shade 11 (fair-neutral) looked perfect.

However, when I actually tested the products at Ulta, it was way too dark. I ended up going with the lightest shade, 10/fairest-warm. Luckily I’m neutral but pull slightly warm. If you’re very pale, like me, but are cool-toned or neutral leaning toward cool, you may find that this line is too dark for you.

Definitely test it in person if possible. APPLY WITH YOUR FINGERS. I tried using a brush, as the bottle recommended, as well as a BB (which was slightly better), but applying with my fingers looked the best.

I set this with plain old Wet ‘N’ Wild Photo Focus banana powder and it lasts all day. I also tried with my Too Faced powder and it didn’t really make a difference, so go with whatever you have. It doesn’t pill up with any of my moisturizers (I use Cetaphil matte lotion combined with the AcneFree lotion).

I tried several finishing sprays with it as well and none affected it. I do still get oily, but nothing abnormal. With a lot of foundations I’ve tried I tend to get a little more oily than bare-faced, so this is great.

I just use the new Revlon oil control volcano stone thing and it’s fine.

For some reason it isn’t giving me an option to add a pic so I’ll be detailed Much better shade range and consistency than the original cc cream. Not as thick and better options for us neutral-cool girls.

No one on these reviews ever mentions what color they are wearing so I felt compelled to do this review for that reason (come on ppl start stating your shade!!!!) so let me start by saying i am a pretty solid light medium neutral and the absolute perfect shade for me is medium cool!!! Perfect! I lean a little cooler than warm so I feel someone who is a solid cool will be fine in this.

I do have to be careful how much skincare I wear under this bc it can interact with the skincare in the foundation. It’s a beautiful foundation but it’s not going to get rid of texture or just “wow” you like some of these influencers make you think! I have very dry skin with pores fine lines and texture.

I do feel it does a good job on my pores but didn’t feel it did a ton for fine lines For reference im an nw25 in Mac. I can get by w nw22 and sometimes c3. 5 Wet n wild soft beige is a good match for me but runs a tad warm Lancome teint idole glow in 305 and can wear 330n as well.

I wore this foundation out to dinner, on date-nights, and even just because. I can say that I tested it during the day, night, wind, and rain. I know and understand why it has the 2021 Allure Best of Beauty Stamp.

And let me tell you, I am in love this foundation. It’s liquid like water but spreads over skin amazingly and wears very light. I use a fluffy-like blunt tipped foundation brush to apply this. It also blends well with a beauty sponge.

It spreads evenly and has a light-medium coverage and I can’t feel it on my skin like I can with thick heavy foundations, even cc creams (Did I say it is liquid, like water?!). For the full review, visit my blog at lalena84|dot|com.

Estee Lauder should have released the Sheer as an additional foundation to the DW family Not a replacement for the classic DW light soft matte hydra makeup. This new Sheer formula foundation doesn’t work to be long wearing or provide any coverage at all and I don’t like it.

I wouldn’t be as upset about the coverage if this actually wasn’t the replacement for DW Light but it is so I am upset that this is like an expensive BB cream except it’s bad even as that and you can buy better drugstore products!!!! It’s like water and doesn’t cover nor last and also I don’t wear chemical SPF either because it’s bad for you and irritates mybskin, why add this into the formula, wear your own SPF under makeup for protection this makeup isn’t going to give adequate SPF protection anyway! In all, I don’t understand how DW just constantly discontinues products.

I have gone away from the company because of this and I won’t be repurchasing more things from them. I really do hope they release another Light replacement for the Hydra makeup with no SPF. The sheer foundation doesn’t serve the same purpose as the light version did and it markets to a different group of people who like that sheer version.

It doesn’t make the people who loved the buildable medium coverage from the light foundatio happy. I need foundation for work, the Light version it would last me 14+ hours felt light looked gorgeous for daily use and I used it for events like weddings and it was perfect and when traveling to see my boyfriend in the army and it never rubbed off from my face with hugging or mask wearing.

EL I hope realizes they made a mistake and re release the DW light again. If you are looking to replace Light with Sheer I think you’re better off getting a BB cream at drugstore or like in my case going to a different brand now.

This foundation or tint is now my absolute HG! I have dry skin and have attempted to use the original DW with no success. I have used the light version and while I like that foundation it doesn’t last and remains “wet” all day.

I’m not a fan of that feeling even with my dry skin. Welcome DW Sheer to my life! Now I have applied this with fingers for a sheer finish, just covers the redness in my cheeks and if I’m having a good skin day this is fab.

I have also applied it with a brush (I have the hourglass vanish brush) and the finish is much more, very decent light borderline medium coverage. A beauty blender isn’t recommended as it’s so runny.

Finish off with a light dusting of hourglass powder and this baby lasts all day!!!!! This is truly the best one I have EVER tried. It doesn’t settle into my fine lines, never looks cakey and very little transfer.

It’s extremely running (think Kosas oil) but somehow feels like velvet once it’s applied. It doesn’t look matte at all but truly does look like skin. I have experimented with various primers (MAC, Too Faced, Hourglass) and a variety of sunscreen (Mecca, UV) and happy to report it works with all of them.

Also sits well with just moisturised skin. The colour match is fabulous, as the original W range is really yellow on me and N becomes grey. C is also too pink. Shade Reference: This Sheer version I have used 4N1 which is just a tad too dark (should be fine by mid summer) but also purchased 3N1 which melts perfectly into my skin right now.

I use Nars Tinted Sydney, UD naked 41NN, Shisedo Tinted 315, MAC F&B C3. The packaging is brilliant with its squeezy dropper, perfect for travelling. I don’t think this would be suitable for oily skin, but if you sampled it with a decent matte primer it may work.

No oxidation at all either. 2 thumbs up from me!!!.

So, influenster wouldn’t let me choose the correct shade to review. But anyway, I really wanted to love this foundation!!! And I do really love the formula, the natural skin finish, etc. BUT it oxidizes soooo bad.

Not only that, but I’ve only been able to find it online. And even if it were in store I’d still have this issue. It is so hard to even find your correct shade in the first place unless you have a store with testers, which I don’t.

Anyway, Loreal has no description for each shade which would make it a lot easier to find your shade if they did! You only know what is gold vs pink because of some of the names of the shades. Can’t figure out which are neutral, unless it’s the ones that say natural in the shade name.

Either way, it’s super hard to find a shade due to the lack of descriptions, but also because, once again, the foundation oxidizes like crazy! It’s unfortunate because this could’ve and would’ve been a wonderful foundation if not for those 2 inconveniences.

😞 I may keep trying to find a shade match but I’m not sure. I did give the 2 stars based solely on the formula of the foundation.

First, I usually prefer foundation products that are light coverage with a dewy finish. So I assumed I’d like this from the description, but my skin can be sensitive so I wasn’t sure if the added fragrance and spf would work for my skin.

Happily, this product agrees with my skin and my preferences! I usually dot this over my face lightly, then blend out with a beauty sponge. I get light coverage that way, but can easily build up coverage in areas that may need a bit more.

I’ve never had it look cakey, or heavy in any way. Looks very skin like and lasts through my work day fairly well, with any fading doing so gracefully. I have no issues with this creasing into fine lines or emphasizing texture.

This is a really good everyday foundation that looks lovely.

I bought this foundation on a whim and I absolutely love it. It makes my dry/combination skin look fresh and dewy. The first time I used it, I was surprised by the compliments I received. The reason I generally steer away from moisture-rich foundations is because they tend to get on my hands when I touch my face.

Then, I touch my steering wheel or a piece of paper and there’s foundation colored finger prints 😩. I have not had any issue with this foundation. The only concern I have is that I like a bit lower SPF.

This is SPF 50, and I literally do not get even the slightest bit of color after being in the sun. I understand that it is better for my skin, but sometimes I like to get a bit of a natural glow. With that being said, I’ll keep buying this regardless of the SPF.

My biggest fear is that they’ll discontinue it, as it can already be difficult to find in stores.

Really lovely foundation! One of the only ones I can apply quickly with just my fingers vs needing a sponge to blend. I have dry skin, and redness in my cheeks from rosacea. The coverage is light to medium, and it’s definitely hydrating.

I do a full skincare routine underneath and don’t have issues with pilling or anything. I usually set lightly with powder, just so it’s not sticky feeling. I love the 50 spf, although I still apply separate spf underneath since I prefer a light layer of foundation.

Because of the more liquid consistency, if I put too much on it does settle into lines, but I’ve found if I use less I still get the coverage I want and it doesn’t do that.

It’s always so difficult for me to find a foundation that works perfectly with my fair, freckled skin tone. Some are too yellow, some are too light or dark, or they are too heavy and accentuate lines.

I recently purchased the Studio Fix 24-hr. concealer in NW20, and it is simply perfect. So, I figured I’d try this new foundation in the same shade. It matches my skin tone so well! I shake the bottle before opening and drop some liquid on top of my clean hand.

dip in my foundation brush and apply all over. It gives nice, light coverage to even my skin tone. It did not transfer to my mask at all which was pretty awesome. It has great staying power. I suppose one could build up coverage where needed if you need it to be more medium.

But if you are looking for a light, feels-like-nothing foundation with SPF 30 built in (another bonus!), then this might be for you! One last tip, it’s not super moisturizing, but it’s not drying to my skin either.

And it looks natural. not too matte. I always apply after my morning facial routine which includes serums and moisturizers. A spritz of prep beforehand works great.

So I have a plied this Mac studio water weight SPF 30 foundation I love this foundation when I am wanting the no make up look. I applied it this morning at 8 AM it is now almost 6 PM and I was sweating I just some cleaning in my house so I came back here and I just bloated my face to get the sweat off and all of my makeup came off with it.

So I am not sure about this 36 hour however I still love the look that I get from this foundation and from my other foundation by Mac. I am honest with my followers, but as I told them I still love it you can apply this every two hours so that’s a plus and when you do it doesn’t cake like other foundations do.

In fact I don’t know of many other foundations that you can keep applying and it without it taking and looking horrible so first off mag I am a fan of your make up I love your lipsticks I love your make up my followers love your make up but I feel that this 36 hour waterproof thing may be a bit extended definitely room to work on that.

I will be trying out my other favorite foundation from you and I’ll let my followers know what I think. As I will also let you know what I think. Still a great fan of Mac as a whole and I am excited to see what you come up with.

I am gutted. MAC is discontinuing this foundation! I assume the people who dislike it were either people who are younger and/orwith oily skin. I have tried lat least 20+ foundations, all but one of them high end (Dior, Chanel, Lancome, Pat McGrath, Charlotte Tilbury, Nars, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Estee Lauder, etc) and this MAC one is way above all the them.

It is my holy grail. I have dark sun spots on my face, quite large patches, areas which are paler and some red. As soon as I put this foundation on, I look a different person, 10 years younger, as uneven skin tone is very aging.

The texture is thin and watery, but it covers all these blemishes and unify the skin. It leaves my skin totally hydrated and with a beutiful satin finish. Why oh why, MAC is discontinuing this miracle of a foundation.

Is it because of the dropper? If this is the case, just change it to a pump.

I purchased this in shade 1. 05 after seeing it posted as a dupe for the discontinued NYX BB Cream in Nude, which was my holy grail color match for my fair olive skin tone. I love it! It’s another perfect match for me.

When I first applied it, I was a little worried that it would highlight my skin texture, but after blending it laid down really nicely. It has the ideal “your skin but better” finish and doesn’t exacerbate my dryness.

Like the NYX BB Cream, it’s buildable, so you can opt for a BB cream-style single layer or build it up to medium coverage with additional layers or adding concealer. I applied a second layer and some spot concealing to cover my dark spots and healing acne, and it never looked cakey.

Frankly, even with the second layer, it didn’t “look like makeup” sitting on my skin – it just looked like my skin! If you’re familiar with the NYX BB Cream, this obviously is more of a foundation formula and is slightly more matte in finish, but I think you’ll be pleased with the shade match and dry-down! I’m delighted to find a perfect shade match in a formula/finish I can wear for both every day and full glam.

Fair olive matches are ridiculously hard to come by, so this is a 10/10 win in my book.

OK so I rarely write reviews but I absolutely had to. This has been my all time favorite foundation for the last 2 years and that’s really saying something. I’m incredibly particular. As a makeup artist finding my perfect color match has always been A priority.

This foundation is not only a perfect color match but it’s also transfer resistant and it doesn’t break me out. It also looks incredibly natural on. It has buildible coverage and lasts all day. It also doesn’t settle into fine lines or pores.

OK so a little bit about my skin so you get the context my skin is oily, It can also get a little little red at times I have very fair skin with a olive undertone. Most foundations go Orange on me which is not a good look.

This foundation is perfect I love it. My tip is moisturize and of course use a SPF then use the smashbox primer a little goes a long way and then you can put 1 pump of this all over your skin using a wet and clean beauty blender or your hands.

I would recommend getting color matched in the store that so you can get the right color. I wear 1. 05 I put a photo down below for color reference.

I love this foundation. It does not irritate my sensitive skin. (Why or why do cosmetic companies make peach-scented foundation which immediately rules out the many customers who react to fragrance?) It does not cling to dry patches or settle in wrinkles.

It looks luminous and lasts 12 hours. I see some reviewers say it looks cakey. This is a full-coverage foundation, comparable to Estee Lauder Double Wear for oilier skin. If you don’t want a full-coverage look, it is important to prep the skin with moisturizer and primer, and to apply it with a kabuki brush using only small amounts.

I can get a sheer look with ease on my aging dry skin using this method. I wear the lightest shade (. 5) which is usually sold out online at Shoppers, but thought a review highlighting the appropriateness of this foundation for sensitive skin might help other Shoppers online customers who need a darker shade.

I have combo skin, as the day goes on oily in the T zone and the rest of my face is normal to dry. I hated this foundation because it was drying and heavy makeup-y looking on the skin until I found a different way to use it (mix it).

First of, I’ve been on a foundation hunt ever since EL double wear light hydra foundation was discontinued (it was my ride or die) and I’ve spent hundreds of dollars trying to find something that made me feel good in my skin and the task had been hard, and finally I looked over at the original EL double wear collecting dust and how everyone loves it I was like what do I have to lose, I gave it another chance in a different way.

Most important thing to do first is to prep and hydrate the skin. I use the Neutrogena Naturals Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Moisturizer and Mario Badescu Facial Spray my fav is the Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea.

Let that sink in a little into the skin. And here the my magic key mixture that gave me beautiful with the EL double wear. MIX the foundation with a drop of the Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex Serum (I use a makeup palette and spatula , on pump of foundation and a drop of serum and mix very well! Add less serum to see how you like it because you can always add more , Vs take away ).

With the mix, The foundation becomes hydrated and so smooth to apply and looks just like skin ! Also, I love the EL shade range they blend beautifully with the skin so foundation looks seamless. This was a game changer.

My skin isn’t drying in this anymore and it has a healthy natural finish. The longevity is completely kept intact with the serum just like EL double wear is famous for and it’s just perfect combination.

Please try this if Double Wear has not worked before for you. Shade: 1N1 but I will be ordering 1N2 as this one is just a hint too light. The serum I had as a sample. This is why it’s so small. I will be ordering a bottle of it.

This is my BY FAR FAVORITE foundation. I’ve come back to review this for the 2nd time now, last time was in November after using for a month to see how I liked it and wanted to see if it would break me out before reviewing, etc.

but I’ve just been unable to find another foundation like this one! To start off, I have really dry, eczema skin. but if you use a moisturizer and some setting spray on your face before putting this on, you will be fine if your skin is like mine.

So, I had run out of this foundation at the beginning of the year, I should’ve ordered when I was getting low but I was unaware that they don’t carry this one in the ulta stores, so I finished off the remainder of this too faced foundation I had (not the same but works good) and that started getting low so I went into my local ulta to see if I could maybe find something similar to it.

Nothing similar but a worker recommended a Smashbox matte foundation for me since I have dry skin. and I returned in within 2 days because I just couldn’t. it enlarged my pores and had barely any coverage at all.

So I was out of town and went and visited another ulta, hoping I could return that one and find this foundation, they didn’t have it either! So I settled with too face again but got a shade too dark.

So now I have to return yet again (ulta is about to be sick of me lol) but I’m almost thinking about returning this, and going foundationless for a while until I can order this and have it come in the mail.

Too faced is great, don’t get me wrong it’s definitely my 2nd choice, but nothing seems to compare to this foundation and will always be my favorite. It can withstand heat, humidity and sweat, all while making your face look flawless (not exaggerating).

My forever favorite. I would never come back and review something for a 2nd time. but now that I’m without it and have had to the other foundations again, I am seeing that I need to not go without this foundation again!.

The Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation, I am pretty pleased with it. I have worn it twice now yesterday and today, yesterday I applied with a brush and today I applied with a damp beauty blender and I 100% prefer the beauty blender method.

Yesterday’s application with the brush after only about 4 hours of wear it was starting to cake around my forehead, my undereye, and and oddly on my cheeks closer back toward my ears and it also looked patchy in spots even though when I first applied it, it looked amazing and was blended perfectly.

I was really disappointed but decided to give it another try before sending it back and what a difference the beauty blender made!! Today it looks absolutely FLAWLESS and smooth, the pictures attached I made sure was 4 hours after application so that I can test properly, and in combination with the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish powder and the Flawless setting spray my makeup has not budged! I am so glad that it ended up looking better with the beauty blender because the foundation itself sits so nicely on the skin, although it is not the lightest foundation I have worn (Nars Natural Radiant Longwear foundation takes that prize in my opinion) it still feels quite nice! I would say this is more toward full coverage but not quite full full coverage (I hope that makes sense) but it is definitely buildable so I am pretty sure that you can achieve the coverage you desire with this foundation! I do have pretty dark circles under my eye and some redness on my cheeks and on my nose and as you can see in the pictures everything is pretty well covered up! Overall I think it is a solid foundation however like I mentioned the application with a brush is a no go and although I do have foundations that I like better this is a solid choice to have in rotation.

The shade that I bought in this one is the 4 Neutral however compared to the Beautiful Skin foundation that I have in the same shade this one almost seems a tad bit darker so if you are kind of an in between shade maybe go lighter instead of darker, you can always darken up a bit with contour and/or bronzer!.

I had heard some great reviews about this flawless foundation so luckily I asked for a Sample pot first. I said to the young lady that I have older skin and discussed with her how careful older women need to be as some foundations actually end up making your lines under the eyes and making your pores look worse, I even joked how all these products are made for young under 30 year olds that have perfect skin and barely a wrinkle so off course it probably looks amazing on them but what about us mature skinned women.

Well unfortunately this foundation is not made for mature skin at all. I am 54 years old but my skin isn’t terribly wrinkly or bad at all for my age however this foundation went on terribly and was so drying and cakey on my skin and made my pores look huge.

when I tried to smooth the pores or smooth the foundation out of the lines it was forming under my eyes immediately, it just wiped off and into bally messes leaving patches and cakiness everywhere. Once applied you cannot try and smooth it as it doesn’t move or smooth and I applied this with a sponge over my normal skincare products.

I also dont use any concealer so the only product on my face over moisturiser was the foundation. I have to admit the results were completely the opposite of what I had hoped and read about and tbh looked awful.

I still have it on now 4 hours later and my skin looks patchy, pore filled and caking under my eyes and has actually aged me more. Perhaps I’ll try a more “dewy” formula of her products as this isn’t suitable.

As I said probably amazing on young fresh faces who can apply copious amounts of concealer and foundation onto their skin and still look great but certainly not good for older skin.

I bought this product after asking a Mecca consultant for a colour match of a foundation that looks natural, doesn’t cake, and preferably has SPF. I also mentioned being interested in Nars and Too Faced.

Unexpectedly, this foundation was recommended, though I actually picked one colour lighter than recommended as it was clearly way too dark for my complexion. The colour I went with is a great match, but that’s about the best of it.

The product is thick and dries/oxidises on the skin quite quickly, so it’s quite hard to blend. I have tried multiple prepping products from different moisturisers, serums, and primers to make the foundation blend better and have had varying results.

I have even tried mixing moisturiser with the foundation before applying. None of the results have been as good as my much less expensive BigW foundation. From the start of application it is patchy on my forehead and worsens with time, it also makes my pores really noticeable on my cheeks.

My skin has also been breaking out, which I have never had with any previous foundation. I used to be able to apply my daily makeup quite quickly too, and this product with all the extra effort and added products to try to get a good result has doubled how long it takes.

I plan to for a credit and get other brand samples before buying another foundation. Hopefully that way I can find what I actually want and need, rather than what I am told I should get.

I initially bought this in 4N a few months ago, and it was too light so I didn’t use it. I decided to pick up 2 more shades during the Sephora sale: 11. 5P and 10N. I didn’t open 10N, but I can say 11.

5P is slightly darker than Fenty 120 yet it worked out really well for me. Unfortunately, the shade match is the only good thing I can say about this formula. I don’t know why, but this foundation hates my skin and refused to blend into it.

I tried this formula with and without primer, and tried different primers (Tacha silk canvas, NYX marshmallow, Milani No-Pore Zone, Milk Hydrogrip) but this doesn’t look good on my skin. It refused to melt into my skin, regardless of whether I used a brush or sponge.

Even my favorite foundation brush left it looking like a weird mask sitting on my skin that would move around and get patchy. It sunk into my pores and clung to texture I didn’t know I had, but would slide off of other surfaces.

It immediately creased and settled into fine lines. This doesn’t happen with any other foundation I have tried, and I couldn’t make it look good. My skincare was the same as always, and I waited about an hour after doing so to apply my foundation.

I even tried blotting off any excess product before applying primer and foundation, but it was still awful. The best it ever looked was the last time I used it, because I tried to blot it down before setting it with my normal Huda powder.

Most of the foundation lifted with the blotting paper, except for the weird bits that wanted to stick to my pores and surprise texture. I have extremely oily skin, and it’s pretty common for me to have a foundation with a radiant or dewy finish crease or break apart within 2 hours.

Not this foundation, I couldn’t even finish my makeup! I had high hopes because I’ve seen and read reviews that say this foundation works even for oily skin types. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t like my face.

I have never been so unsatisfied with a product to come back and write a 1 star review, but here we are. I loved their old formula- it was the perfect coverage, the shade blended perfectly into my skin tone.

I don’t wear a full face of foundation often, especially now that hospital workers are wearing masks daily as part of their required uniform. But since buying this foundation and letting the worker color match me – I get angry and disappointed every time I put this foundation on.

It ruins my getting-ready process on my most important days. Of course, the “closest matching color” makes my skin look very orange in the sun light. The foundation feels heavy like it would provide a good amount of coverage, but in actuality does a very poor job.

I have to use a second foundation every time to balance the shade and match my face. I’d have returned it if I didn’t go also a couple months between buying the foundation and actually getting to wear it.

I’m just angry at this point and tired of putting on a full face of foundation in hopes of it magically working out for me each time, just to scrub it all off minutes later. I also hate that it keeps a wet feeling, even if I put a translucent powder on top of it.

It makes my face feel gross, and I always end up going without foundation.

I am trying Sephora’s Best Skin Ever Liquid Foundation (11. 5 P) for the first time. I had been using Even Better Glow Light Reflecting Makeup Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 by Clinique for quite a few years (and they are discontinuing it) and was looking for a replacement product.

I have fair/light skin with lots of dark spots and sun damage. I don’t wear a lot of makeup or products and mostly enjoy tinted moisturizers. That being said, I decided to try this foundation based on the many positive reviews! I give this foundation four stars (one star off as I don’t love it) for the range of colors that could match my skin tone/issues.

It wears very light and I like that and is medium coverage which I preffer. I normally can get away with moisturizing prior to foundation products but with this foundation I discovered it’s not good over top a moisturizer so I tried without moisturizer and it stayed on much better (without marks or uneven blending).

I have sensitive combination skin (drier with age) and sometimes break out. I had a few blemishes and this covered it well without the need for a lot of concealer. I will probably buy it again. We will see.

It’s a tough one to rate foundations. Because you need to try it out with different primers, might need to switch the skincare you apply under your usual make up routine, maybe the weather where you live interferes with that specific foundation performance.

It’s not a one time and review jig. As soon as I opened the Sephora box with this foundation and got to it I was a bit bummed. It looked a tad too pale. I am a Shiseido lover and very familiar with their foundations over the years , specially all of the ones they discontinued… I found this one to be very liquid opposed to Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear, but sort of the same consistency as Chanel Ultra Le Teint and Dior Backstage as they are on the same price range.

This one has SPF. I don’t really like SPF in foundation because I wear them most indoors or at night. Plus it changes the game with your usual skincare. I am a brush girl and applied over a gripping primer.

It was easy to apply, didn’t dry too fast during application and didn’t get patchy at all even in my first use. It’s a very good buy. The cap twists and pump,so there is no fear of any disaster and it lasted me nicely for 7 hours in humid hot weather.

I am once again in love with Shiseido foundations after a while. Rinsed off well after a double cleanse. For reference I am Buff 210 on Lancôme Teint Idole and 1N on Dior Backstage and Chanel Ultrawear B10 mixed with BD11.

I heard so many good reviews on this foundation, so I was very disappointed when I finally tried it and saw its performance. I don’t know how it can look so dry on my oily-combination skin and it emphasizes all my texture, blemishes, and dry spots.

I tried various methods to make it work—used different moisturizing primers, setting sprays, application tools. The combination of methods I found the most helpful was to use a very dampened sponge, set with translucent powder, and set with a hydrating spray.

But even then, I could still see a lot of my texture especially on the areas with blackheads, and it was also starting to look cakey. I surely have textured skin but it’s never emphasized like this with other foundations I’ve tried before.

My guess is that this formula was intentionally made dry so that once the natural oils of the skin start to come out, they would balance out—hence the “self-refreshing” feature. I did find the finish to improve after a few hours of application, but it still wasn’t particularly nice and my texture was still emphasized and my skin still looked dry.

Without a setting powder, it also looks shiny in an unflattering way. I just don’t know how to make this foundation work. The only good thing I can point out is the shade range. I have medium olive skin and 340 Oak is a perfect shade match.

I’ve been testing out a generous sample of this because KJH raves about it, and honestly it’s the most beautiful foundation I’ve ever used, and really is exactly what I have always wanted. It’s very pigmented, so you could definitely sheer it out like she does, but despite the pigmentation, it really truly looks like skin and like you’ve got nothing on.

It blends like an absolute dream with my fingers (I can’t be bothered with sponges these days), and I have no problems layering onto areas that need more coverage. It does have a slightly unpleasant chemical smell when you first put it on, but it doesn’t linger.

Honestly the lasting power is truly amazing. I do get a very small amount of creasing around my eyes and mouth, but it’s so minimal for something that is quite creamy and dewy, and blends out easily with a finger.

I love a moist foundation, but I hate that most of them transfer. This doesn’t transfer if you touch your face, even though it feels sticky to touch. Amazing. Even wearing a mask all day and getting hot and sweaty it stays looking as good as when you put it on, yes you’ll get a little transfer into your mask, but it’s minimal and undetectable on the skin (rather than a very obvious patch of foundation missing).

I do find I get a little bit of caking around my nose, but I’m okay with paying that price. It might work with a little primer around that area. Usually foundations go really weird and dry and sandy and gross on my chin and upper lip, but this hasn’t been too bad most days! For a long wear foundation it comes off very easily, although I agree that it is hard to get off of clothes if you have an accident.

I am using the second lightest colour which matches my face skin well, but the lightest colour would match my neck better (and I’d look like a ghost). If it wasn’t so expensive I’d buy one of each colour and mix to perfection.

Oh to be an influencer and get all the colours for free. Given how well this works for me, I’m very curious to try the concealers (although one is online only which makes colour matching impossible).

I don’t usually write reviews, but I thought it could help others with rosacea. The color matching was a little off but with the help of their great customer service I was able to return the wrong color and ultimately purchase color #180.

I’ve had rosacea for almost 15 years and have struggled with flare ups every few weeks. As I’ve gotten older, my skin tone has become extremely uneven due to the redness brought on by rosacea. I’ve tried so many different foundations over the years which only ended in disappointment.

I have combination skin, so I was concerned about using a matte foundation. I’ve been using the Fenty matte foundation for a few weeks and it has been working great for me. A little goes a long way and it blends really well.

My face tends to get beet red in the heat or when wearing a mask and this foundation does a great job of diminishing the appearance of the redness. It basically looks like I’m wearing a little blush.

I haven’t had any breakouts, my skin doesn’t look like I have a slick of grease at the end of the day, and its buildable so I can use more on days with flare ups. Because it is a matte foundation, it does settle on my nose and looks cakey but that’s mainly because of how bad my rosacea is there.

Before I apply the foundation, I apply Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel moisturizer, then Elta MD clear SPF, and lastly the Tatcha Silk Canvas primer. This combination seems to help with some of the settling that happens on the dryer spots like my nose.

Overall, I am happy with this product and does what I bought for which is conceal the redness in my face.

I have normal to dry skin, with prescription retinol treatment and use acids judiciously, so my skin can be pretty sensitive and variably dry/flakey, and to top it off I’ve got fine lines products looove to settle in and moderately large pores.

Yay aging skin! I also live in a moderately dry climate. I don’t have a lot of time in the AM and I like natural makeup – like in-person natural, can’t really tell if someone is wearing foundation. I’ve used this over solidly moisturized skin and a silicone-based invisible spf with excellent results!! The mattifying really helps blur my pores.

I’ve used the supplied sponge and a medium density foundation brush and get light coverage – enough to balance redness and even help with the severe blue undereyes I have genetically. Over a medium coverage concealer treated as a true foundation it works FABULOUSLY, and I used it very lightly to just tone down my overly-dewy spf with just a neutral blush and some mascara for a quick errand run also with excellent results.

I haven’t played around with upping the coverage, but regardless of the actual maximum coverage it is exceedingly flexible. I have found it just a touch drying around my eyes/undereyes when I played around with covering the undereye bags – better eye moisturizer or a mid-day facial mist would probably fix that.

It can settle a bit into my lines, though literally everything I use does that and it could be partly the spf (yes I use the CT setting spray too). Hasn’t broken me out with a week of use, though I’m not prone to breakouts.

This is by far my favourite Fenty product I have tried. So far everything I have tried from the brand seems to be meant for oily skin. This foundation was a pleasant surprise though ! It’s not drying at all.

It is medium to full coverage as it says. A lot more coverage then the stick foundation. It is weightless on the skin, literally feels like nothing is on my face. Love the feeling. It’s not super hydrating that combination skin couldn’t wear it.

But does not cause dry skin patches or stick to dry skin making them stand out more. It’s very natural looking, not matte but not a dewy finish, blends very well into the skin. There is minimal transfer throughout the day.

Now for people who are finding it creases or make bigger pores stand out I find a smoothing primer works best, makes it not crease and covers large pores beautifully. I have had no problem with the under eye area creasing but I do use an under eye concealer and don’t put too much foundation in that area.

It applies best with a sponge but does do well with a brush but the overall looks better with a beauty blender. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the shades do run a bit darker and the yellow and golden undertone shades have a little orange tone to them.

Manageable though I just use it when I’m darker with my self tanner. And the orange I can counter balance with a lighter coloured concealer. Overall I definitely suggest giving this a try if you are on the dryer side, just if you’re between colours go with the lighter shade.
