20 Best Lightweight Blanket For Summer (2023 Updated)

I love the quality of this material and the warmth it provides. I have BARE sheets/blankets in my home; refusing to purchase any other brand out there. My elderly mother loves the comfort of this product, so I recently purchased for her her very own set of BARE fleece polar bedding.

I can’t say enough good things about this company. They truly deliver the best quality of products.

I wish I would have read other people’s reviews of this blanket before I purchased it myself. I got it in a beige color and when I opened it, it was super lightweight (more than I was expecting) and the fleece material just felt really low quality.

I honestly feel like I could have saved a ton of money and just purchased a $5 or $10 fleece.

Superior throw and travel blanket. The red is a darker red, which gives it a touch of class! Very well made. Fiber is closely woven. Although the throw is light-weight, it is warm as toast on a chilly night.

I would suggest a thorough washing before use, however. Do not wash with anything else, since there will be a large shedding of fiber at first. After that first washing, the shedding of fiber will calm down.

There appears to be no bleeding onto other colors after that initial wash. It washes and dries well. This throw should stand up to years of good service. I recommend it as a gift or to keep.

I’m very particular when it comes to satin bindings on blankets, and this one is perfect. I’ve actually replaced the satin binding on other (more expensive) down blankets that I’ve purchased because the satin was too wimpy.

This one is nice and stiff with a great crease on the edge. Thank you for an excellent product. I love it!.

I bought this blanket two weeks ago and am so happy I did! The cotton cover on this lightweight down blanket is just what I wanted as it doesn’t slide around like man made fabrics. It is generously sized so plenty to tuck and still snuggle over my shoulders.

I fluffed it up in the dryer before placing it on fresh flannel sheets. It looked so inviting I showered and crawled in and fell asleep. It was noon. Hey, No judgment. I’m a very happy woman! Have already recommended it to my friends.

I bought this for my mom for a gift. It is a nice lightweight down blanket. I ordered the green color which is a pretty grey-green. It is pretty enough to use alone on the bed for a coverlet or with a quilt.

I got a good price on it and now regret not getting myself one.

I was also looking for a cotton blanket that wouldn’t snag, as a cover for a couch. This one works well for that; the weave is dense enough to be useful, it machine washes and dries easily, hasn’t snagged yet, and the pattern looks nice.

(As nice as its ever going to look while using a blanket as a couch cover). This was the only one I found with a high enough quality at a low enough price point. It seems to be better made than even the other blankets I tried to buy at a higher price point, in an effort to avoid the crush of terrible low quality blankets flooding the market.

(Why is it so hard to find good quality bedding?) I personally would not want this one on my bed as a blanket. I consider it a summer weight, and its not soft.

This is a very nice, high quality blanket. I like that it’s lightweight, so it’s perfect to use year round. It gives you just the right amount of warmth, so you are comfortable through the night. It fits the bed perfectly, the sizing is accurate.

It’s well made, no stray threads or pilling, the color is rich and the basket weave design is perfect for any decor. I think this will be great to use all year, especially during spring and summer when you just want a light covering to sleep under.

I bought this blanket for summer sleeping & so far it is perfect! We had a couple of 80 degree days over the weekend & my bedroom has a westward facing window so got very warm in the evenings. This blanket was perfect for the temperature of my room and I slept very well.

It may not be super soft, but my sheets are soft & I fold the top sheet over the top edge of the blanket so that didn’t bother me at all. I got the aqua color and was worried it wouldn’t be the right shade when it arrived in person, but it was exactly what I wanted.

I also really like the pattern & think it would make a nice summer bedspread.

This chocolate brown cotton blanket is a very nice color, warm and comfortable. I think it will be sufficient all seasons, but those who like heavy weight in winter might want another layer. I washed it immediately because the plastic bag it arrived in had an obnoxious odor.

The blanket washed well and retained its color. The size is perfect for my full size bed.

I really like this blanket’s weight and color. I gave it four stars because of all the lint on the first wash. It covered the bottom of the washer, and I’ve never seen so much lint in the dryer. I had to empty the lint filter three times.

I’m afraid to wash it again although I’m pretty sure it would be better.

I feel the sizing is a bit off. After washing it, several loose stitches so I’m not sure how long it will last. It has a medium heaviness which is perfect for me. I bought it to go under my bedspread quilt during the colder months.

It a perfect weight for that. It will work for now but again, the quality wasn’t the best.

I purchased this blanket because the others I was looking at had bad reviews stating that they produced a lot of lint when washed – well this one does too! I had to clean a bunch of lint out of the washer and had to clear out the lint trap NINE times while it was drying.

NINE TIMES! And I’m talking a full lint trap, it was seriously a fire hazard. I’m truly hoping that all of the lint produced from washing this blanket didn’t ruin my brand new washer and dryer set.

The negative reviews for this blanket made me afraid to buy it. I took a chance, though, because I was set on using Mustard Yellow for my guest bedroom. Additionally, the cost was fair. When I got the blanket, I threw it in the washer with a 1/2 scoop of Oxi Clean powder on a delicate (cold) cycle.

I then let it air dry. I dried it entirely and then fluffed it for a few minutes in the dryer. I had no problems at all. Not even shedding, which has been a major worry for the majority of people who have bought this blanket.

I adored these blankets so much. Purchased two for guest rooms. These blankets’ quality and firmness really amazed me. Separately wash each one. Dried on racks before being placed in the dryer to finish drying and being fluffed.

They looked even better when they emerged from this process than when they were first packaged. Even though they are not light, we didn’t want very light blankets. They are flawless. The third one was just ordered.

When I first received this blanket I was so disappointed because the “mustard” color I thought I was ordering was much dingier looking in person. However, this blanket is supreme. It’s so hot where I live and this is perfect for summer! The material is not hot or heavy, and it does not cling to you like most thin/cooling blankets do.

I’ve also had to wash this SO many times already because of my puppy and it’s held up very well. Highly recommend!.

Well, it’s nice. Looks good. Super soft. It didn’t wash very well though. We have a brand new washer and drier. I followed the wash instructions to the letter. Washed it alone, no zippers or anything in the load.

And yet, when this blanket came out, it had several pulled threads across the blanket. Not many, it’s not too noticeable. Yet. But I imagine it will probably get worse with use and further laundering.

This seems to be a very common problem with Target’s cotton blankets. Bought a cheaper version of this a couple of years ago and it was wrecked after only one wash. So far, this one is ok. Finger’s crossed it doesn’t get worse.

I simply don’t get it though, I grew up with cotton blankets like this and they almost never had pulled threads. The rare pulled thread or two was on 10 year-old blankets that had been used for blanket forts, dragged around the house, stepped on, tossed in the car for long trips, hung outside to dry periodically, survived two moves, and so on.

They were lived in. One wash resulting in several snags? *sigh* (Snags on what, I don’t have a clue. ) Overall, I can recommend it but, launder with caution.

Absolutely love this blanket! Was looking for a lightweight summer blanket for our bed and stumbled across this one and purchased because of all the good reviews. I was a little disappointed when it arrived because the packaging made it look rather cheap.

I took it out and immediately washed it following the directions on the tag and the washed product was absolutely beautiful and super comfy. Breathable, lightweight and just the right amount of blanket for warm climates.

Highly recommend and I will be buying two more for my kid’s beds.

I thought I found “the perfect in-between-seasons & a perfect fall and spring blanket” but boy was I wrong. But first off let’s talk about color. I chose White. The blanket I received is labeled as white but the blanket is more of an off-white or Ivory or cream color so immediately I know I’m going to have to return it.

I felt betrayed because nobody should label something as white unless it is absolutely perfectly White, not ivory, not cream, not off-white. So curious me checked out the quality of the fabric and it was barely heavier than a low quality jersey fabric top sheet.

I cannot believe how much time I spent researching blankets only to find this particular blanket as being supposedly the perfect blanket for me. I just felt so deflated when I opened the box and saw that the color was immediately wrong, but maybe it’s just as well because the quality of the blanket is not up to snuff, and based on the quality alone, I really don’t think they should be charging what they do for such a flimsy “blanket”.

And now I have to lug it down to my car and drive all the way to Target. This is not easy for me because I am disabled. This is why I use online shopping and research the products heavily before I buy.

Target, if you’re listening, please do something about this blanket. Please change the quality to be heavier and please change the colors to be true to their names. And in the meanwhile please lower the price of this blanket due to how thin and extremely lightweight it is.

It’s barely a blanket and the “white” one that I ordered was definitely cream colored. Oh perhaps you should just remove this item all together because it is Not Worthy of Being a Target item! Thank you for listening.

This is the absolute best blanket. It will be even better in summertime, but I love using it year round. We put it in between our sheet and top blanket. It makes suuchhhhh a difference on how much warmer and cozy our blankets feel.

It feels heavy but it isn’t and I really love that. It is stitched very well and it’s very soft. I love it and want a few more!.

So happy I got this 100% Certified Egyptian Cotton Blanket. It is a great quality blanket. If you are a hot sleeper like me and always find yourself kicking your blanket off at night, you’ll love this one.

This is my new favorite blanket ever. You know when you go to a hotel and they have those really nice throw blankets? Well this is exactly like this a very high quality blanket. It’s so warm and nice.

This is a very nice blanket. It is soft, sturdy, yet warm and lightweight. I live in AZ and it’s perfect with a flat sheet under it for those winter months. It washes well. Good weight to it. Tight knit.

I’m surprised at the price for the quality of the blanket. Typically a blanket of this quality and weight sells for $200. 00. You will not be disappointed with this Tommy Bahama all cotton blanket.

This is a good quality cotton and heavier than I expected. I washed it as soon as it arrived which caused major shrinkage. It barely meets the top sides of the bed. There is NO hanging over the sides at all.

It did shed pretty badly and came out of the dryer with a few snags (washed and dried alone). So, how it got snagged is a mystery. While it is a good quality cotton, I am disappointed it won’t cover my king size bed.

I bought this blanket because the colors match my family room so well. I initially purchased it to use as a throw blanket for my couch, but now I need to buy another one. Most nights my wife, daughter and I relax on the couch and watch tv and we all fight over who gets to use the blanket.

Usually my wife and daughter win that battle. The blanket is big enough for two people to use and we all love it. It is soft and cozy and so well made. On those chilly night it will keep you nice and warm.

I highly recommend this blanket to all and will be buying another one very shortly.

Absolutely love these Utopia 100% cotton dobby weave blankets. Perfect for layering in the cooler weather and alone in the summer. They are exactly what I wanted; a very well made, hard to snag blanket which is constructed to last for years of use.

Much better quality than i expected. I wanted to use this for layering as it was to replace a vellux blanket. It washed up with little to no lint. The weight is perfect. It’s very cold in central Illinois at this time and I have the blanket between a flat sheet and a loose weave thermal cotton on top.

I ordered white by mistake but it is a beautiful stark white. It really isn’t too heavy but very warm.

Washed up well, very little lint, if at all. color is dark more charcoal than smoke, almost black, but still great. I wanted a cotton blanket to go above my top sheet, enough to keep my warm and this does the job just fine.

This thermal blanket is better than any of my other cotton blankets I own, so I know I’ll enjoy:).

This blanket has a good tight weave. The colors are a little deeper than shown on the website. It looks nice folded and draped over the foot of a bed over a white coverlet. plenty of contrast. A good weight to tug up during the night if you need a little extra warmth.

During colder months this blanket will go under the coverlet with a wool blanket draped at the foot of the bed. 100% cotton; great for humid or seaside conditions, as synthetic fibers don’t breath and you end up warm – and sweaty!.

Run this one through the washer twice (without drying) when you get it. I’m typically cautious with anything red, since it all seems to bleed badly anymore, and wash the first time with a long wash and an extra rinse.

This one ended up with a second wash since it looked like there was still dye needing to rinse out. My dryer was horribly full of red lint, beware that you need to probably stop mid dry and clean the filter out.

My alarm on my dryer went off when I washed the other (different color) one of these, but not this one. When both were done drying I also cleaned out the ducts in the back of the dryer and the wall, but I was due a good cleaning back there anyway.

That said, it’s a good summer or spring blanket, not too thick, good for when you want more than a sheet, but you’ll likely want to swap it out for something thicker in the colder months.

I originally purchased a queen size blanket, but Zulily cancelled it because an item in the same order was taking too long. After searching other sites for a queen size I determined it was more economical to buy a king size (all that was left) from Zulily.

It came quickly, but had an odor. When I washed it yellow “linters” practically clogged my washer. When it came out of the dryer the lint filter was filled with these linters. I planned to use the blanket in place of my wool winter blanket for the summer.

However, for now it remains folded on a bench near my bed to add a punch of color.

This blanket has a nice weight to it without being too hot/not warm enough. It is perfect for summer when you want a little something over you, but not necessarily a huge comforter. The color is gorgeous and also great for summer! I washed it on the regular cycle, warm water, cool rinse, and there was no fading, picking, or fading.

Also tumbled it on high heat, but no shrinking either. So a nice, no-frills, all-seasons blanket!.

If you read through the reviews you’ll see a theme of comments that this blanket is not as soft or gossamer-like. True. Also, it snags and pulls easily. True. Super bummed to report that’s my experience as well.

I wanted to love this blanket because the color is a perfect match for my duvet cover. Unfortunately it’s not gossamery at all but more like a nicer cotten blanket. The deal breaker is that after one wash according to the directions and with the utmost care it has pulls.

How is it even possible?!? So unfortunately I will be working with The Company Store to return it as this blanket is for a guest bed and therefore will be washed often. The pulls will make it look cheap and sloppy in no time.

That’s just not ok. Dangit!!.

I had been looking for a King-sized muslin blanket and had something really specific in mind (I wanted something gauzy like the muslin baby wraps) but I wasn’t having much luck. After reading the reviews, I still wasn’t convinced that this was what I was looking for, but I’m so glad I took the risk! While it’s not gauzy, it’s a great weight and the fabric is so breathable.

I’m a hot sleeper and I also have hot flashes. I’d been sleeping so poorly because I was just constantly miserable and uncomfortable flipping the blankets on and off all night, but this blanket maintains just the right temperature all night and doesn’t feel restrictive, which I appreciate.

I was worried that the plum color was going to be too dark, but I really like the shade. Pairs great with a mustardy yellow. #sweepstakes.

I really wanted to love this blanket. It is the perfect weight for summer – light and airy. I was looking for just this color as well – the pink is gorgeous. But. I own another muslin blanket from a different company that is super soft.

I was looking for the same thing in a lighter weight and more color options. It was disappointing that blanket wasn’t nearly as comfortable. If you plan to use a top sheet, you will be perfectly happy with this blanket and you will absolutely love the colors.

If you want to use this blanket as a top sheet, be aware that it is a bit scratchy.

The blanket seems to be a good weight and quality. However, I ordered “brown” and when it arrived it was called “charcoal” and had a grayish tint. When I looked at the listing again, in some places it lists brown and other places lists charcoal.

I think the description needs updated?.

This is the perfect throw blanket! I’m tall and so is my husband but we both can fit and be comfortable without having to fight for extra room under it. I’ve washed it 2 times and it hasn’t frayed or snagged on anything.

I love the color and how soft it is.

I love this blanket! The diamond weave is beautiful! It washed and dried great, and still looks brand new. I assumed like with most woven blankets my dogs nails would snag and pull on this but it doesn’t! The weave is tight enough that it hasn’t snagged on their little paws.

I love the weight and feel of this blanket. It is a great blanket over sheets and under a coverlet for summer. This is a good combo for sleeping with the AC on or peeling back to coverlet for those nights that you want the windows open.

I like natural fibers for sleeping and having 5 bedrooms with all sizes of beds, I went all out and got these for every room. These are great for the winter and summer. We have washed and dried them and they don’t shrink and look great on the beds.

We have had compliments on these blankets and visitors have asked where I got them. These were a great find.

Like always the cool side of the pillow So this is not some magical blanket that will make everything cooler. It is basically a warm polyester on one send and cool nylon on the other (I think). The cool side feels cool to the touch, very different from the other side.

it basically works by not warming up from your body heat and continuous contact, so that the blanket doesn’t feel warm after using it for a while. Every time you move around, it feels nice and cool because the blanket is no retaining your body heat.

It’s like the cool side of the pillow, but in blanket form. It’s a very thin and light blanket, but well made, smooth and soft. You cannot layer another blanket over it or it fails to feel cool. It also won’t leave you shivering, but will just be slightly below your body temperature.

In the summer time, it gets so hot that I don’t use any covers as even a thin piece of cloth feels stifling. I still like being covered though so this should work great. So far it has been very comfortable to sleep with.

In terms of care, it cannot be machine washed past 30 Celcius and it has to be air dried.

Best Sleep in Years I’ve always liked a heavy blanket set when sleeping, so I suspected I would enjoy a weighted blanket. I just didn’t know how much I would like it! My “heavy blanket set” just does not compare.

The weighted blanket is pretty heavy (20 lbs) and I worried that it might be too much. It’s not, as the weight is distributed over my entire body, so when sleeping, it isn’t overbearing. The “beads in squares” lets the blanket hug more of your body, so you feel the weight on more surface area, like around arms and legs and torso, instead of just on top of you.

And I feel more “secured” – I don’t mean “safety” – I mean like secured to the bed. The result is that the tossing and turning restlessness has all but stopped. I fall asleep faster, and I tend to stay in the same position longer – sometimes all night.

It’s been a life changer. The product itself seems to be well made with quality materials. I ordered a queen size blanket and it covers the top of my queen size bed, no overhang. I bought the duvet cover, but have yet to use it.

I’m probably going to order one for my brother, as I know he too has sleep issues. I’m confident it will help him – if he gives it a chance. And that’s what I’ll say to you – give it a chance.

Cooling really works! I bought this and use the matching cooling protector. I was quite shocked it actually isn’t very warm. I used it almost all summer long without a problem, and in the winter I usually need another blanket as well.

This is, for me, a huge selling point. I haven’t tried with another protector yet. Note the size. I’m 6 foot and it does not cover me from head to toe when straight (I can make it work when corner to corner).

It does take a little getting used to, not having it over my feet. This will only fit 1 person. I don’t think they should be calling it ‘queen size’. It pretty much isn’t washable. I’ve seen a mix of handwash, gentle machine wash, and don’t wash.

I don’t want to ruin $100+ blanket, so I’m just using the protector 100% of the time. The beads have remained evenly spread. The only time I noticed them being bunched up is if it’s draping over my leg or something, but the weight is still there because the pockets are small enough that it’s still pulling on the fabric.

I haven’t tried any other weighted blankets for comparison. My spouse originally made fun of me for wanting one, but now they do too! I think we’ll order another brand so we have a comparison.

Dimensions are larger than some other companies and these blankets have held up well in the past. I bought full/queen and a King & used the size guides and Q&A for actual size. I ended up keeping the King for a Queen bed & returning the F/Q.

Although size guide says 96 x 108 for the King, I measured the new King as 95 x 101. 5. In either direction, I did not think the sides were long enough. My older Lands End fleece king is about 99 x 113.

(King Mattresses are 76 x 80 wide, but adding mattress pad, sheets, another blanket bulk up the bed. ) The F/Q size works well for a Full bed, but seems skimpy for Queen, especially if you have a deep mattress and consider 2 adults sleeping under it.

Since we moved to an apartment building I’ve found our down comforter to be too warm. We have a cotton thermal blanket and needed an additional blanket for winter. This fleece blanket has been perfect.

I especially like the size. I have been dissatisfied with queen/full sized blankets before. Our mattress is about 12 inches thick. This blanket is long enough to tuck-in at the bottom and the sides. The fleece fabric is soft and smooth.

I have not washed it yet. Blanket is not thick or too heavy. This blanket is just what we needed.

I have been buying these for years and yes they do shed in the dryer but now I wash them in warm water on the gentle cycle and air dry them. Easy to store in the summer. These fit in smaller condominium apartment unit washing machines and avoid laundry service charges using large washing machines.

They can be layered for more warmth in very cold weather. A twin size is good as a throw for a living room sofa. I like the extra long length as it is good for twin XL beds. I would like to see a purple one available.

So disappointed in what I thought was going to be a great blanket. Upon first examining it when I got it, it seemed great; soft, generous size (king), and a lovely different pattern. So I decided to keep it and washed it according to label directions.

It was then a different blanket. The pattern became very pronounced and raised and had become quite rough to the touch. It also snags SO easily. You expect some shrinkage from a cotton blanket but this oddly did not shrink much from side to side but it shrank SO much from top to bottom that I can barely tuck it in at the bottom and it is still uncomfortably short at the top.

Our mattress is 12″ so not overly deep. I bought a queen one as well but fortunately did not open that one and it is going back. You can get cotton blankets fairly inexpensively just about anywhere but I decided to treat myself to a “really nice one”.

Lesson learned, money does not necessarily buy quality.

After reading many reviews, I took the plunge on this blanket. I have zero regrets. It somehow regulates temperature perfectly in both warm and cool weather. It starts a little rough to the touch at first, but it softens just a tad after each wash.

Speaking of washes- it’s cotton, so make sure you check your lint trap after the first go in the dryer. It will be at capacity and perhaps then some. Long and short, buy the blanket!.

This is a quality blanket, it’s not too thick or thin, great for use under a comforter. It holds up well in the wash with no snags. As someone else pointed out, it’s not a bright white; in some lights it looks white and in some it looks a bit off-white.

I can’t speak for the size pre-washing because I only put it on the bed after washing it, but it seems a little short. If you let it hang over the end of the bed by a few inches it won’t reach the very top of the bed.

(I have a Queen). Not a big deal to me.

Love this blanket. It fits my king sized bed perfectly. It’s a great weight and is soft. I followed the care instructions to a tee and had no issues. Washed in cold, on delicate, put in the dryer on low.

The care instructions say to move it around frequently in the dryer- so I set timer for 25 mins at a time and rearranged it and emptied the lint trap each time. It did let off lots of lint on the first time in the dryer, but I didn’t find it abnormal and it’s to be expected with 100% cotton.

I am happy with the three blankets I bought. They are a nice weight. Gave off lint when I washed. Just saying. They snag very easy and had tons of loose threads. Just hoping in future washes they don’t fall apart after I trimmed the loose threads.
