20 Best Lights For Saltwater Tank (2023 Updated)

I purchase these lights in late 2020 for a 2021 build. I finally got everything purchased in February 2021 and completed the build for a custom nano reef in late June. I’ve used these lights since then.

They didn’t last long, about a year. At first they were great, corals did extremely well. but then all of a sudden all of the softies started struggling pretty hard. Water parameters were fine, had these double checked at pet store.

Store recommended new lights. Thinking that the dude might be in it for just the sale I went to another store and they checked water. again they stated all was well within parameters. Started doing some discussions online with other reefers, and their recommendation was lights as well.

Bought new lights and within days the tank was back to looking like its old self, corals flourishing. Don’t buy these unless you want to replace them frequently.

I just bought a par meter from BRS. The Par in the description is correct – If you have all LEDs turned on 100% and like a yellow look to your tank. One of my tanks is a 55 with 2 of these on the left, and 2 of the Orbit IC models on the right.

NPS and xenia live on the left. In 10 inches of water , light mounted 6 inches above water, at 100% blue, 50% white I got 62 par in the center, the IC model I got 115 par. More than 50% whites go into the yellowing range of color.

I would not recommend mounting on the rim of a tank, even if you keep the glass on them well maintained you get salt creep into the inside of the fixture with this model and the IC model within a few months and you get to do surgery – the glass is loose in the 4 Orbit fixtures that I have.

These do put out pleasing light spectrum and setup is very easy, just dont expect much power out of them. If you want these because their loop controller can also control the Orbit pumps, I 100% recommend against this brand’s wave pumps.

THIS IS THE DROID YOURE LOOKING FOR! Buy 1 for softies in a 20L Buy 2 for SPS in a 20L 2 of them over a 29g will create lovely mixed zone effects. (I bought a coralife aqualight-s to compare, this one is far better, but using both opens the door to interesting customization) Current USA is an impressive brand, it turns out.

The spectrum is amazing. goodbye T5s. and good Riddance. There are things i need done. and you just couldn’t do them for me. Things like sunsets. moonlights. and. weather. The weather patterns are as hypnotic as they are natural-seeming: some help anemones get used to brighter light for less feedings.

Other things i like: Preset timing, moonlight, manual mode, custom 2-channel timers allow independent controll of blue and white sunrise and sunsets. The moonlights are automaic: set by choosing number of hours 1-6.

Staggering 2 units creates 2-hour long, multi-spectrum sunrise that will take your breath away and have you rearranging rocks just to see the light shine down on them. Its like halides for a tiny tank, only better.

Dont bother with the Coralife unit unless youre adding it to one of these (like i did, and im very happy) Negatives: 4 colors of light, 2 channels to control them. so the blue is the blue and the white is the white.

the only spectral variations you can access beyond that is with the cloud-cover effects. Dont think youll be able to turn down the 445 vs the 460 or the 12k vs the 8k. they both ramp on the same channel, respectively.

During the cloud and moon effects, however, you do see them change independently of one another. so the fixture CAN do this, it just wont let you. a bit dissapointing. but a good excuse to run the weather effects.

I was using an ONF Flat Nano light on my 11g bookshelf tank. The light itself was great, but a little small in comparison to the tank. I purchased the Aquasky so that the outer ends of my tank would get more light.

The light itself casts a very yellow hue no matter how you modify the settings. I played around with the color temperatures on the app for a whole day & couldn’t get rid of the yellow tones. I did some research online and saw that others have also complained about this.

I prefer a clean white light to make my aquascape pop. I used the Aquasky for a few days hoping that I might get used to it, but I couldn’t. I returned it & went back to my ONF. Another drawback to the Aquasky is that if the power goes out, the light will remain off and doesn’t resume it’s schedule until you manually turn it back on.

Not good for when you’re out of town.

Best lights for the techies out there! Out of all the light systems I’ve tried, these are probably the most convenient and configurable of them all. I recently purchased a Fluval Flux tank. After playing seeing all the things you can do with the included light system, I made the plunge and replaced all five of my aquarium lights with Fluval lights.

Pro’s: *Easy/Highly configurable. You can set your lights and color any way you like or use the built-in presets. *Super bright! I’ve had to tweak my lights often to avoid algae growth, but my plants are going crazy.

*The warranty is three years on their lights! Cons’s: *The iPhone app is slightly quirky and could use some work. It’s just not as polished as other smart lighting apps out there. I find certain features like export custom settings confusing.

Not to mention you can only export to lights of the same type. If you have Grown Lights and Aquasky lights, you cannot import-export profiles across light types even if you want a similar effect on both.

*I have an iPhone and Ipad. The lights seem to work best when you only use one device to configure them. I’ve had issues, particularly when I rename a light, the second device will lose connection with it, and you have to re-add the light back to the device.

*You cannot group lights or configure similar lights together. I have two lights in my Fluval Flex tank. I have configured each one separately. It would be nice to group them and control them both at the same time.

The app treats each light individually. *You only the ability to create one routine per light. It would be nice if you could configure different patterns per day of the week. For example, I have a tank in my bedroom and have the lights come on at 6:30 am on weekdays.

I sleep in on the weekends and would prefer the lights to come on around 8 am. I’ve installed separate smart plugs (Kasa), that turn on the power to the units at 8 am on the weekends. *No integration with Alexa or other Smart light systems.

My entire house runs on Smarthings; it would be awesome to update the app to integrate with 3rd party applications. I have two tanks in my living room; it would be awesome if I could tell Alexa to turn off the lights when I want to watch a movie.

Depending on the Fluval model, I have to pull out the app or hit the button light itself. *Occasionally, the lights will ignore the routines. I’ve run into a few instances where the lights should be off based on my configuraiton, but are still on.

When I open the app and connect to the light, it suddenly re-syncs and continues where the routine should be. I realize I have lots of Cons, but they are mostly issues with the app itself. Fluval has the basics right but could enhance the app a bit.

The light units themselves are great, and the ability to program them on a smart app makes them best in class for the average hobbyist.

Every thing looks fine so fare as i have only had this light for three weeks. The sunrise and sunset programs are very good and all lights should come with this program on them. You can play around with all of the programs on the light and get it to suite your own tank.

It is a bit expencive but when you see how much has gone into this product well it is worth it. All i can say now is that i hope my plants will grow a lot better than they did before , i had the standered Fluval light that comes with there roma tanks and that is i tink mainly to show of the colours of your fish.

This light will give you a program that is pre set for plants and the colours of your fish. As i say its a bit expencive so think befor you buy it ,and when you look at other LED lights for your tank you will see that they have lots of individual led dios which are a mixtuer of Red Green Blue and white , this light just has one row off lights all they hay through the middle of the light and it has all of the same colours in it.

This light is a good value for the money. It has a wide variety of LEDs and build in Bluetooth for setting up via the Fluval app. Its waterproof and has a decent mounting system. It has a fairly clean look over the tank.

Why the 3 stars? No matter how I adjusted the settings I could never get a clean look out of it. Compared to IA Prime and the Tuna Blue A80 it was just bland. Hard to describe but when you look at them side by side the Fluval was just dull.

Corals seemed washed out. Tried this light a few times but just left me wanting more. Id say it be great for a fish only tank but not for corals.

I purchased this product for a small Fluval Spec V nano reef so that I could have greater flexibility with my light schedule, instead of the simple on/off of my previously used $40 black box LED. The light was very easy to set up – the app was straightforward and I didn’t have any issues with the actual hardware.

That said, the light spread produced by this light is very, very small and narrow. I placed it over the center of my (small) aquarium, and ramped up the lights over a week. Even at full power, only the softies directly underneath it so much as opened up after a few more weeks, so I replaced it with my $40 cheap led and all of the corals were happy once again.

At this point, it’s sitting unused in a box somewhere. I give it 3 stars because it does produce a pleasant light to look, and it is very easy to use, and it may work well on a 3g pico or something similar, but I can’t recommend it for anything larger.

At the relatively high price point, it’d be worthwhile to spend a bit more and get a true nano light with a bit more power.

This light works perfectly and is very easy to use. The only downside is it does get a bit hot on the top, but whatever i am not resting my hands on it. This light is very reasonably priced compared to similar products and does the exact same job if not better.

The AI prime is like 200 dollars and you have to buy the mounting arm separately, this comes whit the mountain equipment, also the mounting arm is really nice it swivels so you can move it when you have to do maintenance.

The app and setting the schedule/ levels for the light is super easy and it works like a charm. This light is honestly perfect for a 10 gallon tank. Plus it looks sexy and sleek.

Running on a 20 gallon lightly sticks in corals. While the light itself is great (so far), I found that the Bluetooth controller is practically a necessity, and I almost feel like the difficult setup is specifically a sales pitch to upgrade to the Bluetooth controller, which I did.

I also went ahead and bought a small pump and included this into the Bluetooth loop controller. Functionally, the light has been great. I would suggest that you save yourself some time and get the light with the Bluetooth controller from the beginning.

I picked up the 18″ model of this light for a Fluval Spec V nano reef and have been pleased so far. Right now I’m keeping a long tentacle anemone (who’s color has darkened noticeably since bringing it home about two months ago), a couple LPS (Xenia, Kenya Tree, Acan) and some SPS (monti cap, montipora digitata, Sprung’s Stunner chalice, lepto, bird’s nest) and all have been doing really well.

Contrary to the “official” answer, this light fits the Spec V perfectly on the shortened area of the lid and the light itself is almost exactly the same length (maybe a mm or two shorter) than the display portion of the tank.

The coral acclimation modes are really useful in preventing having to move corals up and down in your aquascape. I only wish the custom programming had more options like maybe being able to have a random cloudy day during the light cycle and still have the dimming at sunset.

As it is now, the effects (cloudy day, t-storm and cloudy moonlit night) run until you press the resume button. So if you have one of them running and forget to press resume, it won’t go back into the light program.

Also, just in the last week or so I’ve noticed some rust on the legs where they rest on the lid of my tank. Not a structural issue by any means but it is unsightly. Other than that, great little light and actually contemplating running two on a 55 gallon reef I’m in the process of setting up.

Let me start by saying I’ve had the same 65 gallon reef tank for over 12 years and can say I’ve never been happier with any single product as I am with this light. I’ve been running the same dual 175watt metal halide hood for the past 12 years with three 96 Watt power compact bulbs as supplement.

This single light, using ten percent the power, easily replaced all three PC’s. Cycling through PC bulbs is a pain in the you know what, and the expense is astronomical. Most of my corals are sps and lps aside from a few softies down in the depths.

I’ve never seen my reef shine like it does now! The corals just POP! Acros, Monties, Chalices, they all look beautiful! The polyp extension is improved and the growth tips are pushing nicely. A great response in just a week! They were begging for this light.

As it ramps down at night to just the actinic lights the corals glo ramps up! Look away for fifteen minutes, and Bam!, a glowing light show! My actinic PC’s never did that. This light is not going to replace my halides for primary light, but as supplemental light it Shines! Ha! Love the slow ramp up and down features, and my very few fish do too.

If this light lasts at least a few years it will save me a ton of money, and the hassle of light replacement. Not to mention the consistent light output compared with the slow dimming over time of the PC bulbs is a definite plus.

Cant wait to see what time will tell! So far, Love It! I just wanted to add a couple more exclamation points for good measure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS F&S Rocks!.

For the money, it’s a good product. The lights are bright, but plan on anything that is not directly underneath the light to be in the shade. As with most LED reef lights, the spread is narrow. The remote is easy to use and program.

I also have a set of Popbloom reef lights that are a couple of years old that came with wired controllers. Compared to those, this remote control is a bit less customizable, but still works good. The one thing I miss is controlling the percentage of each spectrum.

You can control each spectrum on the remote, but you just have to eyeball the levels. The arm bracket is sturdy and this package came with the arm. Looking online, I can’t believe they charge almost $50 for this piece.

It’s sturdy, but not platinum! As far as the tank life, my pulsing Xenias, frogspawns, mushrooms, kenya trees, and even aiptasias seem happy. My red gracilaria has shown improved growth.

The controller and expand-ability of this light makes it a great budget buy. We really like the lunar cycle feature of this, it is something we have always wanted and could not find in main brand features.

Some others have said that the lunar is too dim or green. It only used the center 3 leds. We think it is perfect on our 20g High tank using 1 of these lights. We expect to get more of these for our other tanks.

Some of the other reviews talk about wifi and able to control with a smart phone. This is not a feature of this and they expect to have a new controller for that in the future which we will likely invest in.

Another warning is that the cord for the controller is about 12 inches. I would suggest picking up the extension. Also if you are purchasing multiple to chain together make sure you buy a standard one with a “Mid” model which has controller connections on each side.

Also there are warnings on all of the instructions that the controller must be plugged into the light prior to the light receiving power, otherwise “damage will occur. ” Other systems use the controller for power input to correct this issue.

This is not the case with this, so be warned.

Very Nice Light! After almost 5 months i spread the result, the light really did not fail and many are surprised by the color and growth of corals, given the simplicity of the system, there is no balling, the light is used by about 70 percent, 3 channels out of 4, white increased recently because he planted calendrum about a month ago, the growth of about half a hundred a month, some branches under a centimeter, Moneti moneti in 1 ruble grew to 6×6, if not constantly turning it sinelapy would grow better.

Growth would be stronger, but nf on zeros hanging all the time, raise the edge hard, i will buy fish. I plan to expand soon i will order the 2nd bar. Dimensions of the operating system 56d 32 w 36 v, without sampa.

Reckomenduyu light for acquisition, the result as was almost the same as under top assemblies, only need to look the size of the system and choose the desired number of planks. Everything i can not show, unfortunately, the color as i could pulled out of the camera, but everything is much saturated, the activation gives even greenish, like a briarium).

Gotta love the LED technology, the touch button is a nice feature that responds every time quickly. Just hope that won’t be the first thing to go as sometimes touch features and water don’t mix well.

I’m hopeful that they took this into account and it will last a while, as waterproofing technology has come a long way. I’m sure the led bulbs themselves will last for 10s of thousands of hours or so.

Will update if anything comes up short on this product but I would recommend this as a solid tank for lighting up your tank with white/blue led wavelengths. Waiting on a new 20 gal tank but uploading a pocture of the light setup on some germinating plants in the meantime.

I love this light! It is a major upgrade from my past light. I love the modern look this light has. I also love that the on and off of this light is touch; it is so much more convenient than having to go behind the tank to use the on and off button in the back near the outlet.

It is extremely easy and quick it set up. I’m so glad I got this light! I recommend.

Wow this light is bright! It really makes the tank look nice. This light is best for 20g or smaller. It has blue spectrum lights so give the tank more of an ocean feel. Unfortunately it wouldn’t fit on the side of my tank.

My tanks rim is too wide. If you have a rimless tank or one that is 3/4 of an inch or less in thickness it will work.

Purchased a Ref Sea 260 Max setup from the LFS, which comes with two of these lights. Have had the usual litany of connection drops. Was routinely a 7-8 hour slog to reconnect them, about once a week.

Steadily increasing unreliability, leading to the lights unable to connect at all, then requiring being powered off and then on to start at all. Lights finally dont power on under any circumstance now.

I think it is fair to say they have been a low point in my return to the hobby. Red Sea is peddling snake oil with these things.

I bought this as I’d set up planted bioactive filters above my tanks. I needed waterproof low energy lighting because of the water pouring out of the filtration. Prior to getting these, I had normal lights over the tanks but without aquarium lids, there was a risk of the lights falling into the water or being splashed by the fall out.

I am very impressed with the amount of light these emit. It’s a nice clear light too showing off the markings and colours of the tank inmates. By attacking it to the front top of each tank, it allows for some shadowy corners behind the plants at the back corners, thus giving it a more natural look which some of the shyer fish seem to enjoy.

I bought a blue and white light for the axolotl tank and again attached to the front top of their tank. The light is less bright than in the main tropical fish tank and since Axolotls don’t like bright lighting, this has been a great success.

In all, I find these lights to be very effective, a good price and also reducing my electricity consumption which, because I have several tanks, vivariums and terrariums, is higher than most hoiuseholds.

Received this item, and was pleasantly surprised by the construction. The cord has a great length with a on/off switch. The tube that the LEDs reside in is made of glass, and the LEDs are bright. I do not have this installed under water, so I cannot rate that aspect.

I have this mounted in my wooden canopy. I’m very happy with this product.

A smallish convenient light for providing night viewing on an aquarium. This is not actinic light, which after some research I found out is closer to uv light, however many aquarists feel actinic light is too bright for all night.

This is a good choice, the cord is long and the light is quite versatile in use possibilities. Your animals still will fluoresce a bit using this.

This light is nice and bright. Fits perfectly on a 125 gallon aquarium. Has a nice sleek design and looks great on top of the tank

These lights will grow corals. At <6" the PAR is sufficient to grow most SPS. it drops off to <100 at 18" (numbers according tp Fuval). no problem growing LPS and softies. The spectrums are great for corals, and can drive excellent growth.

They lack the PAR and flexibility of high end reef LEDS but at this price it isn’t fair to compare. very nice white light and corals will pop under the blues. The button problems are very real and do not recommend these without the wifi – unless you want simple on and off.

I’ve accidentally knick mine into the tank, so their waterproofing is a big plus. Fluval lists the PAR mapping and spectrums on the box which is very useful and a huge advantage over cheaper no-brand lights.

This is the first LED light that I have tried, after years of using power compacts. The difference was immediately obvious, even though I left the intensity at a lower level to acclimate my corals. I have mushrooms, polyps, xenia, candy cane coral, and a piece of war coral – they all have thrived under the Fluval LED strip light.

I think the most vibrant difference is in the way my live rock looks now. The color is much more vibrant under the LED. With the benefits of energy efficiency and a much lower thermal energy output, it all combines to make an excellent upgrade from power compacts.

I plan to purchase another light like this one soon.

Bought this unit three months ago and it’s been terrible. Not only is the button one of the most poorly designed I’ve ever seen. But according to Hagen Customer service the unit has a known design defect.

If used on a aquarium with more than one light the unit reacts to the other ballast turning on. The result is the unit might come on dimly, or only the blue LEDs will turn on. According to Hagen the light must be at least four feet away from any other ballast to prevent the EMR pulse from affecting the unit.

Its a chinese lamp that make concurence to branded lamp, but at chinese prices. I measured the par of the lamp, and they are exactly as advertised. Form factor make think of a cheap chinese copy of the redsea reefled 90, but it is only in look.

They have their own circuitry, their own lens and their own led setup. It is in every point at least as good as the red sea option. They are not wifi, but O know no one who change their light setting often enough to justify the need.

The lighting is of very good quality very sturdy very strong. They are preset channels that are easy to use you can also operate the light manually I used a par metre I can easily grow SPS and LPS corals with these lights.

They are amazing value for money in comparison to Biggar brand names. I Highly recommend them you will not regret it. I have had many sets of lights in the past none of them stack up to these in comparison yes you can get lights as good quality but you will pay a hell of a lot more money for those it’s simply not worth it get these ones and you’re laughing.

Aquarium lighting has come a long ways. Ive had aquariums now for 42 years and I had not bought a new hood light in many years. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and found this extremely bright daylight balanced low profile light that also had a dark blue light for night time.

Its just brilliant. No pun intended. I love it and my fish love it. My grumpy old Jack Dempsey gives it his begrudging fins up.

I had concern that my discus fish would find it too bright but they dont seem to mind it. They also very much like the blue dusk mode. Light in weight and good design.

I’M like the light but you have one setting for blue which is the color i prefer the you can switch to the other setting but you can see nothing in the water due to there being so many colors and the white light is dominant there for you got just blue and a white setting.

I give it 3 stars.

Zilla makes the best screen lids on the market, but they could be better. They’re so flimsy, six of the eight I ordered came in considerably warped/bent. Yes, I could “bend them back” (somewhat), but until you try you won’t understand that they DON’T just go back to their original shape.

Because I am keeping snakes with these lids, it DOES matter. Also, PETCO doesn’t seem to carry the Zilla clips that are perfect for these lids any longer, instead carrying their “imagitarium” brand which are absolutely awful and for me, worthless.

I know COVID, inflation, supply-chain issues etc. are making everything wonky right now so corners sometimes need to be cut, but I’d have been willing to pay a little more to be able to buy the proper clips from the same seller and NOT have most of the lids come in warped.

Bought this for someone in college to use next to his laptop on his desk and also in his car when driving the several hours to get home for visits. Am a bit disappointed with packaging. Makes it look like a cheap item pulled off a hook in an ordinary store.

This was meant to be his most expensive gift out of several items and it looks the cheapest. That makes it hard because the item for his sibling now looks 3 to 4 times more expensive when it was actually about $10 less.

With them being 18 and 20 we try to spend close to the same amount and look for unique items for each so that they don’t actually get the same. The spiderpodium looks great and I’m sure will be good but it won’t have quite the impact I had hoped for.

As grandparents we struggle with technology and hoped this would impress him just a tad! The other reviews are what made me choose this model so I don’t doubt its construction or ability to do what is expected.

Just wish it had been better packaged-and that is on me.

Excellent light for the price. Gives you the option of daylight or at the flick of a switch a blue ‘moonlight’. I now have three of these units. they are lightweight, compact and look good. The only thing a potential buyer need be aware of is that it is designed to fit above a glass or perspex cover or condensation tray, if you try using it over an open tank you are inviting trouble; it does not take kindly to being splashed with water.

The lights are amazing. The color and effects are spectacular. You can make an amazing light but what you can’t manufacture is customer service. Steve in CA was so nice and walked me through my KessilX controller.

I couldn’t get the program to save and remain saved and it turned out a simple fix. My eyes aren’t great and I couldn’t see that the unit was in DEMO mode and kept reverting back to the standard setup.

Come to find out, the unit was never running the proper program for a year because I never took it out of DEMO mode. I was having algae problems because the standard programming has the light a little too bright.

Now they are adjusted. So happy with Steve and Kessil.

Long term experience with this light has been good. I replaced one of my four Kessil’s after it lost some of its full spectrum. Otherwise, these lights have been the best I have used over 30 years, including halides and fluorescent.

Great penetration, nice color, good coral growth, aesthetically pleasing, positive spousal acceptance factor. The latest model has some appeal in that one can play with the spectrum (ooh, look at the pretty purple reet!), but hey, in terms of utility and functionality, I’ll stick with these puppies rather than trading up.

Reefers know Kessils seem to be the Rolls Royce of Aquarium Lighting mainly associated to their upfront cost. Yes they are expensive initially but for $ per LED they’re actually pretty affordable. Other benefits are the ability to fine tune, compatible with many controllers and quality is second to none.

Kessils work for soft corals to SPS. I purchased a pair because I was tired of second guessing my second choice lighting and I’m seeing major improvements in growth in just a few weeks on installation whereas I barely saw growth over a year.

Everything looks better and healthier. Just look on YouTube there’s literally hundreds of success stories. Bottom line – If you want an excellent LED that will give you results – Kessils are your best investment!.

Seems like a solid and durable light. I’ve had mine about 1 month now but unfortunately, I finally have it set up only as of today. Here are some things to consider if you’re looking to do the Aquatic Life T5 Hybrid system.

You’ll need the AquaticLife 24in end caps and center bar. Aquatic life comes with 18in as the standard set-up. Also, you’ll need the longer center screws from Photon (order 6+), the screws can sometimes not fit due to the way they’re manufactured, so buy extra.

If you’re going to use this light with the Aquatic Life Hybrid T5 set-up with the 24″ endcaps, the hanging kit that’s included in both packages will also not work. I would suggest looking at AquaticLife website and get the 19in (19.

4″) endcaps. Keep in mind it will be an end to end fit with no extra room between the T5 and LED set-up. You can use two hanging kits if you chose to use the 24in setup. There will be about a 2in gap on both end between the T5 and LED and you’ll need a longer hanging kit if you plan to have it hanging.

Unless you have a tank wider than 24in, I’d suggest getting the smaller brace of 19 inches. The brace will also need to be drilled for the hole with the Hybrid system.

I bought this light about six months ago. It was a major upgrade for my main frag tank. Overall the light has been a huge disappointment, the app doesnt work and the light regularly switches to a strobe mode every hour where it flashes on at the highest setting and then off about ten times.

As you can imagine this scares the fish quite a bit a does not represent my idea of an ecosystem replicating light source. Save your money and buy a better light. Ill never buy another reef breeders product for any of my tanks or for any of my customers tanks.

Love everything about these lights. I can’t think of one bad thing about them honestly, other than I only have them on my 20L and not on my 40B. Looks like I’ll be selling my kessils a360’s and getting another reefbreeders.

Everything from par to color spectrum is phenomenal. Yea they may not have that kessil shimmer. But kessils are lacking everything else. These make my coral pop like I’ve never seen before. Its weird I usually see a coral I like take it home and it’s like what happend.

Not with these lights I get them home and they look 10xs better. Im 100% sure you will not be disappointed. These have got to be thee most underrated lights out. And for the price can’t be touched. Ill put them up to radions any day.

It would have cost me more than double this price to get what is very over hyped in my opinion if I would have got the radions. That panel makes for no hot spot on my par meter and its even over the WHOLE TANK.

Just received my AquaBasik in record time. It’s working beautifully in my 55 gallon tank. I especially like the remote control & all of the features. The LED lights really enhance the fish colors & decorations.

I use this light on my 40 gallon tall freshwater planted tank, and I have amazing growth from all of my plants. I have several swords, crypts, bacopa, hygrophilia, and jungle val as of right now. So, nothing that has high light demands, but it is a very deep tank, and I find it impressive that this light supports plant growth from such a distance.

I actually had to pull out a madagascar lace plant and aponogeton ulvaceus after those two had such amazing growth that they were blocking out all of my shorter plants from the light and taking over the tank.

I use a planted aquarium substrate but no CO2.

I have been in the aquarium hobby for over 30 years. 25 of that in saltwater and 23 of that with reef tanks. Lighting had always been a mystery to me but a few years back I dove into understanding lights.

I spent hrs reading everything I could on them. Reviews, opinion, fact sheets and then on photosynthesis in the worlds reefs itself. Needle to say there is a lot of good info and a LOT of bad info. The I decided to just gets the lights I wanted to try myself.

I stated with AI Hydras and did my best to understand and utilize them. I ten upgraded to Radion G5 Blues. They were great and I really liked them. When the Skys were announced I was not impressed. Little by little I was more intrigued by them.

Finally I decided I would try them. I was nervous to switch lights again, however this is where the story changes. Ive had the SKYs on my tank for just under three months now and I have zero regrets.

There have been so many positives with these lights, lower temperature, less blue yeah spectrum is the same, higher pH, easier to take photos, and my wife likes that she can be in the room without her eyes hurting (me too).

To me these have been the ultimate upgrade in lights. I highly recommend them to anyone that has a tank big enough for them, keep in mind you only need two of these to cover a 6 foot long tank. I am looking forward to using these on my 10 year tank now.

I have no plans on changing my lights again, and I think that these will go the distance. I highly, highly recommend these lights.
