20 Best Lighting For Unfinished Basement (2023 Updated)

Bought a 6 pack or these for garage lighting. They were everything i wanted and more. Went in easy peasy, and produce great work light. Will most likely buy more for my basement. 10/10 reccomend.

I installed in my garage where my vehicle is parked that has no ceiling light and once the garage door opener light automatically turns off get dark. I just installed one light and tested it out one is bright enough but since I have 4 can’t just stop there had to install all 4, really satisfied with this purchase.

Got them in earlier than expected that’s a plus. Jumped right into it. These lights are awesome. Lights up my garage nice. We’ll recommend these to everyone. Update: lights up nice. Poorly constructed from the warehouse because I had to fix two of the lights a week in of me getting them.

Wanted to buy more but now looks like there $10 more than what I paid. I will buy them again if they were the same price but $10 more I’ll look for something else.

Compared to other lights of the same design these are superior by far. Springs hold up well and give off a great light and look. The downfalls I find are minimal, one is that compared to other lights I’ve ordered through maxima they don’t have quick connects, just small wire nuts that I end up discarding.

Makes installation a bit tedious. the door on the transformer is pretty cheesy, doesn’t stay shut well at all. But overall good product once you get tricks to make install easy.

Just what we were looking for. Easy to install and work with. Top quality at an excellent price. We put nearly 70 of these in and have them on dimmer switches throughout the whole house. Provides the light necessary for all occasions.

My sister’s house is loaded with them and so is my brother’s house. Thank you for producing such an excellent product.

I have installed over 20 of these lights in my renovated home and 15 of another brand over the past year and a half. I love the junction box, light disc and the colors are good. The 2700 gives a nice warm light.

I just replaced my 9 kitchen lights to 4000 to brighten up my cabinet color. they are white bright, I didn’t want to rewire the boxes and was hopeful the new lights would solve my issue. The problem.

major is when using the dimmer, which I purchased also here. When used my lights flicker like a disco now and then. I can go 2 hours and then we strobe out for about a minute good for 5 then disco again, I’m used to it but truly embarrassing when having a dinner party.

I changed the switch to a non dimmer and all was fine but too bright. Replace with a different brand dimmer. same thing. I reinstalled my original dimmer same thing. So now I have invested a lot of money and time with these lights.

My other brand does not flicker. When I have a few extra hundred and a day I will replace them all.

We used these 14 inch LED Low Profile Square lights to replace the florescent lights in our family room. They do not extend very far below the ceiling and they provide a wonderful brightness for the room.

We are of an age that we may never have to replace them. their length of life is so great. We are very pleased.

I bought this item a month ago and am very pleased by the light coming out of it. It is bright and dispersed. I use it to light up the space at the bottom of the stairs in my basement. Since most probably this light will be left on most of the time I am sure that now I’ll realize the economy LED lights are providing and economy in electricity will pay off the higher price for the unit.

Installation was very simple and strait forward. I am looking now on other, longer units from the same company to install them elsewhere in my renovated basement. I wish the price would be lower.

Simple design, flush to ceiling, easy & quick install. VERY bright light. I replaced two “standard” 60W fixtures with a frosted globe in my kitchen. The room & working area is so much brighter now. (This fixture may be too bright for small enclosed areas, i.

e. , small hallway or closet. ).

We bought two of these to replace two large, round, fluorescent fixtures in our kitchen. Though I had calculated that 4000 lumens (2000 each) would be appropriate, these were way too bright, and I had to return them in favor of fixtures that would start at a lower brightness and could be dimmed.

Otherwise the lights were good quality and would have looked nice.

I’ve replaced a screw-in fluorescent lamp (NOT just a bulb, but a bulb with a built-in lamp cover). This is just as bright (1600 lumens) and white (color temperature 4000K) as the fluorescent it replaces.

This is way better, though, because it puts out ZERO heat (as far as I can tell), uses less energy (22 watts instead of 30 watts), and it’s supposed to last for YEARS if left on continuously (as opposed to months of continuous use for the fluorescent) – which means you may never have to change it! I should also point out it comes with all hardware needed to to install this permanently as a flush mount fixture screwed right onto a junction box.

There’s also a few 7-inch models. Lets hear it for LED lights!.

Affordable light with good lumen output. If I had one complaint is that you need wire nuts instead of push connectors.

I work for a high end renovation company that used a high end expensive lighting product, these are amazing and very economically priced. The best part is that you could adjust the kelvins on them by a flick of a switch.

Lights are great. Had to work with it a bit because our cans were so old but once worked out they look perfect. Just a bit of trouble with CO. trying to do a return. Ordered round and square not knowing which would look better and need to return.

Can’t get a response to return.

Just what I needed to replace a light fixture at home. Speedy delivery!

The light was perfect fix for switching out the old cans that were not energy rated.

I have installed 2 Juno SlimForm lights in our house and I just purchased 4 more. Both lights already installed are round and both have a color temperature of 4000K. One is 7″ diameter, the other is 11″.

I like the round lights because you don’t have to worry about making the edges parallel to the wall when mounting. The 5″ and 7″ diameter lights both mount by pushing them upward into a bracket (included) that you first mount to the ceiling electrical box.

My 7″ light took more force to install into the bracket than I expected, but there was no damage to the light or bracket in doing so. The 11″ and 13″ diameter lights also include a bracket that is first attached to the ceiling electrical box, but these lights are rotated to engage them with the mounting bracket.

The bracket and the mounting surface of the light are designed so that the light cannot accidentally rotate backwards and disengage from the bracket. One reviewer complained of an unsightly gap between the top of the light fixture and the ceiling.

On my 7″ push-in light this gap is less than 1/8″. My 11″ rotate-in fixture has a gap of about 3/16 to 1/4″. I don’t think either is unsightly. The diffusing panels on these lights do a very good job of dispersing the light, so in my opinion the lights don’t need to be as closely spaced as the documentation shows.

My 7″ light is the only light in my 9′ x 9′ home office and it illuminates the room quite well. I initially had the 11″ light in that room, but it was too bright. The 11″ light is currently in our 12′ x 12′ kitchen, but it not quite enough light for that room (I like very well lit work areas), so I just purchased a 13″ light for the kitchen.

When I had the 11″ light in my home office, I tried installing three different dimmers recommended by Juno to reduce the amount of light, but all three dimmers resulted in humming. These were expensive electronic dimmers.

Tech support for one dimmer manufacturer said the problem was most likely caused by poor circuit design in the wiring of our house.

Great light for a bathroom ceiling (or other uses), as it is rated for moist locations. Easy to install. Light is bright and is approx 3K kelvin, so it’s slightly whiter than an incandescent bulb. I’d buy again.

I’m very happy with the purchase

We purchased 5 of the 3000k for our laundry room, provides great quality strong incandescent quality light. These are slim but they look and perform like lensed recessed lights. Love them!

Bought 3 of them for our awning that’s over our driveway. Perfect for that application. Lots of light, very easy installation. Dealing with build.com was easy as well. Very happy!

I use these in my closets, laundry, and utility room. The light is so bright – it illuminates the whole room with beautiful light. They are a also really attractive on or off. I highly recommend!!!

I think Sunco lighting is a very great concept. They are slim and easy to install in tight fitting ceilings. The build seems nice. The one bummer is that when a unit goes out you have to replace the whole thing, not just a bulb.

And so far Ive had to replace 6. and of those 6, 3 of them are dim, they will flick bright for a while and then go dull again. No matter how many brand new lights i install in it’s place they seem to do the same thing.

All that being said I really don’t know if it’s the lights, the wiring, or a combination of things in between. What i do know is that for the almost 2 years i’ve been in my home they were working like a dream.

Then 1 or two went out completely (these, when replaced, fired up and work like normal. no complaints) But the ones that flickered dim to bright, when replaced, are hit and miss. 1 replacement worked perfectly.

a few other ports still flick with multiple brand new lights installed. Not sure what to do.

This recessed LED seems to fit more snuggly against my ceiling than others I’ve purchased. Disadvantages include a small junction box that uses wire nuts instead of “push-in” connectors. That makes closing the box lid impossible if there are more than two cables going into it.

One of five LED colors has to be chosen at time of purchase so the color isn’t switchable. Still I prefer this recessed LED to others I’ve purchased because of the much lower cost. Dims to 5% of max range.

Great lights. I wish they had these when I did my whole house a couple years back. Gimbal works great and holds its position. I love that you can spin it to direct how you like without having to pull the trim out.

Color selector is easy and really nice to help match it to the rest of your lights. Only downside is it doesn’t seal to the attic or insulation. Not good for indoor air quality or trying to have a nicely sealed house.

Insulation could slip though the crack if you have it turned much.

Was very impressed with the quality of this light and the hardware included. It installed nicely and the lighting color/warmth is perfect for our outdoor patio area. I put these under the overhang which needed a slim fit and this was perfect.

I build high performance homes and put these in instead of standard can lights. With the air sealing details I use these lights fit perfectly, and their single unit price is higher than a can light, the overall cost to install these is less than that of labor, fixture and bulb for a can light.

The crisis is above 90 so colors are true and the temp ratings are right on, I like the 3000k for residential. I’ll be buying lots more of these. Excellent quality and finish.

4 out of the 10 had no problems, the remaining six had poor cast quality (several visible weld repairs and voids) which wasn’t really a big deal for me as they are pretty high up. The bigger issue was that the same 6 had awful threads in the housing for attaching the conduit were I had to force thread the fittings using a large pry bar.

I would have returned them but I was all set up to do the wire job so I just made it work. I spent way too much time making them work. I was planning on buying several more, but I may seek another brand, as to avoid the headache the poor quality caused during installation.

Another interesting point. instructions refer to a green ground wire. none of the 10 had a ground wire. I have used the same light from another brand, and after comparing the two I would say that the ones that are sold here (at about half the price) as the other brand are the rejects from a quality point of the more expensive ones.

It worked perfectly for the job I had in mind. Perfectly water proof. I needed it for a tight, damp crawl space. I didn’t want shattered bulbs. It nearthe well water line. Don’t want a fire if there’s a rupter.

Don’t need to be electricuted. Works perfectly. Going to purchase two more for the boiler room.

I just received 7 of these lights to install on my dock. I haven’t installed them yet but the quality looks good. One question I had was if they were suitable for wet locations. Upon inspection of the light I found “Suitable for Wet Locations” stamped inside the base of the fixture.

I ordered these last time you offered them and as usual, Mr Beams comes through again. So happy this company moved to the Q as the quality is tops, lights work every time and battery life is long. My neighbor had a lurker in her porch at night, and living alone, scared her badly.

Hubby installed one of these for her home and it has lasted for a year now and she is secure knowing she has instant light at night to make her feel safe. Living in the country as we do, these are really a life saver and for the price, you get a lot of security and a very bright light.

All of Mr Beams I highly recommend and so glad they came to the Q and bring more of their line monthly. These are not cheaply made lights, but high quality and the company stands behind them. Have used other Mr Beams for over 7 years and they still work, even outdoors in the weather.

Do not understand any bad reviews on these or any of their products. I have been buying Mr. Beams for over 8 years and even their early lights were good bit the quality has only got better over the years.

Happy my go-to store QVC sells them now as they used to be hard to find and so much more expensive. These are the perfect closet lights and even had to use one in our spare refrigerator after the light box stopped working.

what a life saver. Do not be afraid to try and yes, the battery holder is very secure meant to be waterproof but not too hard to insert. I own over 20+ of their lights and living in the dark wooded country could not be without them.

Battery life is tops and last on all for a long time, just purchase quality batteries ( auto ship on Amazon Prime for my batteries) So happy QVC carries these once hard to find lights.

I installed light base in my shower ceiling using silicon sealer and twisted installed light into base. It seems to be holding fine. The light is heavy with the four C-size batteries required. These cost about 6.

50 at Walmart for four batteries. I’m hoping single LED will last reasonable length of time and it should since illumination is LED and batteries are C-sized instead of AA. Motion sensor sensitivity is not adjustable, so keep this in mind when installing – you might not want light to turn on everytime you walk into the area.

Note, if there is some amount of light in the area, the light will not turn on. So, during the day with window blinds open and I walk into my bathroom, the LED light does not turn ON (conserving battery life).

If I want to have light in the shower with daylight, then I just close the blinds. I really don’t think this light is designed for moist environment like a shower, but I’m going to clean battery contacts regularly to limit my problems.

I showed down light samples (8 total) to 4 different customers recently and all picked this light fixture. They go in easy and quick. No box needed. They dim down nicely with LED dimmers. They compare favorably to the Lithonia Wafer light fixture at nearly 2x the price.

My only questions are, how long will it last and can we get matching fixtures when one does burn out? We are buying spares for now, but the fixture runs cool so heat should not be an issue. I’ll buy more.

I bought several of these to use for under eave accent lighting. The ease of installation is unbelievable. You just need a hole and wire, everything else is integrated. Now I’m looking around looking for more places I can use them.

The junction box is small so you have to be very conservative with the amount of wire used. Even comes with push connect wire connections. Very easy for excellent results.

I bought two for each of the reach in closets I have and they are very bright. I almost could use just one. The color is as close to pure white as I can tell. Neither too yellow or blue. The only negative about them is the small junction box area made it a little difficult to connect the wires and cram them back in when working with the heavy gauge household wires.

Exactly what we needed, upgrades our common hallway nicely, adds a nice clean white light. Easy install.

Outstanding light fixture. Easy to install. Provides more than enough light to get your work done in the bathroom. Same detail shop the Hi-Bay LED fixtures were installed in. This bathroom fixture had to live up to those.

It did just that and more.

Terrific lights I have about 8 throughout my home! Lamps Plus the only place to buy lighting!
