20 Best Lightening Cream For Black Skin Without Hydroquinone (2023 Updated)

Like many other people have already said, I’m really disappointed you guys discontinued the old forumla and without warning too. If I knew, I would of at least stocked up before it was gone. The old forumla was perfect.

It cleared up my dark areas in only two weeks and made my skin so smooth and soft looking. Unfortunately, this new forumla is not as effective. It doesn’t have sunscreen, makes me darker, and seems like it breaks me out.

I was excited at first when I realized you guys were making the cream more natural, but didn’t expect that you guys would completely discountinue the old forumla and that this new forumla wouldn’t be as effective.

Why not have both the old and new forumla available so people can choose which one works best for them? Hydroquinone isn’t a bad ingredient, it been used for decades and dermatologists recommend it all the time for hyperpigmentation.

Please bring back the old forumla or at least improve on this one so it works just as well. I’ve used this cream on/off for years it was so affordable and very effective. It really was my favorite cream I’m sad to see it go, but I guess I’ll just have to find another brand of cream to use from now on.

I bought this product in July of 2020 and used it the entire summer. Within two weeks my face was noticeably lighter, my spots were all gone! After the two containers were used up I could not find it anywhere in October, November and early December.

Found it in Walmart in the last two weeks of December, I have been using it for eight weeks now and it has not done ANYTHING to my face. I don’t know if I got a bad batch. In fact my face is actually getting darker because this thing seems to have no lightening ingredients in it so it’s as if I am not using anything on my face.

I am just perplexed because I don’t understand what’s happening. This is something that I’ve been using for a while and it has always worked. All it did was cause a red rash around my neck area. The redness of the rash is gone but I am now left with a black line (of sorts) around my neck.

The batch number is B0338.

I don’t actually buy into these dark spot removers at all, I’ve used a few of those mostly patches and they’ve done nothing so I’d pretty much resigned myself to never getting rid off these weird marks the few pimples I was getting were all of a sudden leaving (never happened before, and I’ll tell you why at the end of this review) then I decided to try out this product, that I think I got in a Fabfitfun sale if I’m remembering correctly and I started using it on my dark spots and even sometimes pimples, and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing after only a couple of weeks, if that, my dark spots were literally getting smaller and smaller and some even disappearing!! And I wasn’t using anything else! This lightning wand truly does work wonders and literally like magic you can clearly see a reduction in your dark spots! And it works great for existing pimples too.

Very few times have I repurchased something I’ve gotten in subscription boxes but I just did with the lightning wand a few weeks ago because I am definitely continuing using this! I love that the ingredient list doesn’t contain anything that dries out the skin like most pimple removers do so I can use this without worrying that my already dry skin will get dryer and it is easy to use.

The only issue I have and the reason it gets a star removed is the application of it. I do like the steel roller that you can just roll over certain areas but the problem not only lies in it being pretty unhygienic having the roller touching the skin over and over but the clicker that pumps the product out does it in a way where you can’t really control how much comes out of it so usually I am pumping out more product than I actually need so I either end up having to just use the rest over the same areas or wherever or I close the lid with liquid still on the roller ball, which is probably a waste of product.

That is my only “complaint” with the product but other then that I absolutely love it and its effectiveness! When I went onto Hero’s website to buy another wand I even bought a few other products along with it because I was interested in seeing if their other products are as good, the jury is still out but I am so glad I found this brand as these dark spots were really starting to make me desperate that I’d never have clear skin again, especially since I don’t deal with issues like acne, so besides having mild but pesky eczema and mild rosacea my skin is usually clear.

Pimples often appear when trying out new products and I didn’t realize until too late that the products brands are selling you to reduce pimples (with all those drying ingredients like salicylic acid and such) actually are the reason you get a dark spot after the pimple is gone!! I never used those products before and I never got dark spots but after using them I have plenty of them! So this wand is a welcome addition to my skincare routine.

I bought this after reading the positive reviews & videos. I started using the spot patches & rescue balm about 2 weeks ago & found them really effective & helpful at reducing my pesky spots (I would recommend these!).

I now needed something to help fade the dark marks left from having picked my older spots. I thought the lightening wand would do the trick but alas, the first time I used it on several dark marks my skin reacted by first going red, swollen & itchy & then producing lots of tiny white pus filled spots that blistered.

I’ve had to calm them down with an ice pack (over 3 days) & have used a little of the rescue balm & lots of Weleda’s Skin Food to keep my skin moist during the swelling itchy period & to avoid lots of dry skin patches once it started to blister.

I’m disappointed that the lightening wand caused such a bad reaction. I’m worried I’ll be left with even darker marks. If this has happened to other people I’d be interested to know whether it’s a sensitive skin issue or if the lightening wand contains a very strong chemical that has affected other people in the same way.

I can’t risk using it again – such a shame as I ordered it from the US for a UK delivery & paid almost the sane price for the delivery cost.

After months of diligent internet research, I finally decided to try the Hero Cosmetics Clear Collective line. I purchased the jelly cleanser, toner, capsule toner, and lightning wand. I’ve never had problem skin – occasionally a tad oily but not usually one to break out severely.

I purchased this product mid February and finally made the decision to return it back to Ulta. I’ve never had a set of products just completely mess with my skin. After a weeks worth of usage I started breaking out in a ton of “white heads” which I was told was just my skin being purged.

I gave the products more time and it’s just gotten to the point where my skin is red, broken out in acne, and uneven. The before picture of me smiling is what my skin looked like before I tried any Hero cosmetics products – the other side profiles are what my skin looked like afterwords.

No dietary change, hormonal shift, etc. could have caused this. Leaving this review as a cautionary warning to anyone else whose thinking of trying this line of products.

I really like this product. Was pleasantly surprised with the light tint. I don’t have to wear foundation. I’d never noticed this brand at Walmart before until I saw this box on clearance for $7! Good time to try it.

It goes on smoothly, has a very creamy feel but, isn’t oily. I will definitely buy this moisturizer again! My skin doesn’t look 65 years old. Love this stuff!!.

To avoid writing bad reviews on every item I bought I just want to go ahead and do a general review. I started using makari in Senegal I was excited very new with the brand. I was told to buy the serum, carrotonic extreme lotion and tube cream which I did.

2 week after using the tube cream I began to face major breakouts and 3 month into the lotion I felt no significant changes some part of my body were shades lighter than the other, it gave me major discoloration.

I contacted the European customer care and I was told to stop using the tube cream and buy a face cream. So eager to give them a second chance I purchased another carrotonic extreme lotion, soap, daytime face cream, sun protection and a serum very expensive First the daytime face cream made my face 3 shades lighter then my body, blemishes, redish, developed white pimples and neck discoloration.

The lotion did nothing to my body still the way it was. And when I contacted them again I was told to buy other extra products. Makari is not genuine and they are making money off people. I am so done with them.

If you cannot return the money after a bad purchased at you can be truthful.

Palmers!! Thank you for creating this product. This dark spot Cream has done so much for me and my uneven skin. I used to hate my legs and wearing shorts because I had so many scars. I used to camp a lot and received many mosquito bites and scars covered my legs like leopard spots.

I hated it! That was all until I found out about Palmers fade cream. I covered my scars in this stuff probably for a month and dude my legs look normal and good. Combine this with Palmers Skin Therapy oil and my legs look so good it’s unbelievable.

I wasn’t sure about this cream, it actually popped up as an ad when I was looking for another fade cream. I have dark acne scars on my light skin and wanted to find something to help lighten them. This stuff actually works!! I noticed a difference after just a week of consistently applying to my face every day, multiple times a day.

My scars have drastically faded and even though they are still there, they are not as noticeable before! If you’re thinking about getting this, don’t hesitate! It does really work!.

Again, 😆 seems to keep happening to me!! My product not found! Anywho; this formula of Palmers Shea is Raw. Not greasy, rubs into the skin nicely and is soothing. I use this form for my family and mine Eczema, on my back, the back of my arms and sometimes on my chest! It heals immediately.

The best product OTC except Avenno that also is a miracle worker!! Also, may use for dry itchy skin not related to Eczema!! FYI: this formula has been a little harder to find in stock, in store. Maybe being discontinued not 💯 percent on that! 🥰.

I’ll begin by sharing that I’m a massive Caudalie fan! Many of the brand’s products are among my skincare staples. I tried this moisturizer on and off for a year, using as daytime under makeup. After giving it many second chances, I do not recommend.

It does not layer well with other products (makes EVERYTHING pill if you layer serums, etc under moisturizer and SPF on top). Every jar I purchased was a different color and consistency so I never knew what I was going to get—which was another reason I kept trying it.

It is a light texture but does not dry down and is greasy (not tacky/sticky, though). I did notice brighter and more even complexion, however. I will not be repurchasing simply as it doesn’t play nicely with my other products or oily skin.

This pure luxury in a jar, and unlike other “luxury” pricey products I’ve tried in the past that promises a lot but don’t live up to the hype, this cream actually does deliver decent results. It has niacinamide, a ingredient my skin loathed in the past because it leaves my skin so red and irritated, but with this cream I haven’t had any nasty reaction.

I definitely see some brightness,and the quality of my skin has improved. I recommend using this with Ren ready steady glow tonic during daytime cause the combo definitely boosts the result. It’s fragranced but not overbearing, but still probably won’t be good for people who are sensitive to fragrance in skin care products, but for me it’s part of the experience and I love it.

Definitely purchasing this again.

Wonderful moisturizer!!! I am lucky to have received this as a #freeproduct complimentary from Caudalie via TopBox. It is especially great when paired with the Caudalie Vinoperfect Anti Dark Spot Serum.

I saw great results after my first month of pairing the serum + moisturizer once daily. I found this moisturizer to be pretty thick – or at least a little goes a long way. I have dry skin so I need a lot of moisturization day and night.

I did have one issue- my favorite mineral SPF does not get along with this product. Regardless of how long I wait to layer my products, everything balls up and I don’t feel like I’m getting the benefits from this moisturizer or necessary sun protection from my SPF.

I love this product! The fragrance is so lovely. It goes on the skin so smoothly, and leaves a dewy glow to the complexion. I can put my makeup on right after I apply it. It also has an SPF 15. It feels so nice.

I have just begun using it, so I can’t really speak to the benefits of using over time. But regardless of that, I will continue to use this product. It is rather luxurious!.

I ignored the UK store and bought three face serums from your US store and paid all that shipping because I specifically needed the white creamy serum, since the oily serum earlier gave me serious breakouts.

I was still sent the oily one which wasn’t what was advertised on your US website. I complained and was told I will be sent just one creamy serum as compensation, but that was also not sent to me till date after weeks.

Whitening cream. This cream promises to reduce dark spots on the skin, you can use it on the skin, armpit and crotches. I used it for 3 weeks and the first week I noticed the change, the spots got better.

Apply it once every 3 days. The third week I get breakouts on my skin, it was very bad, it seemed like an allergy.

Ive been using this product for 2 weeks now. I was hoping to see results within the first week and I did! 2/5 scars have improved since I started using this product. I have 3 big dark flat iron burn marks, so I know those are going to take a couple months to lighten.

So far so good though. Its going to take a little patience but I recommend Dermisa. Wish I seen this product sooner.

I switched to this after the differin one was discontinued (and tbh that one smelled bad) and I’m so impressed! At this price point I wouldn’t expect much but I saw results in a week and a half! I’ve been using it for over a month now and my acne scars have faded significantly.

I feel like my skin is much more even and glowy too. It does have a scent but even to my sensitive nose, it’s not bad. Also haven’t noticed any clogged pores or breakouts! I have been warned to not use as a spot treatment (can cause hypopigmentation) so I use it all over my cheeks even though my scars are only in a few places.

This cream works and I’ve used it for only a week. I used to buy bottles of Hydroquinone cream from my dermatologist for $100 each but this $6 bottle of Ambi Fade Cream works even better! It also has a light sunscreen in the ingredients to protect from the dark spots from coming back.

It’s such a pleasure to share the newer version of Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum. Good molecules is one of the skincare brand that I began my journey fighting against melasma with and have had thoroughly enjoyed using their products for their quality and choice of highly effective and safe ingredients.

Two of my most loved products that always have a spot on my vanity are the Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner and the Squalane Oil. I used the older version too and really enjoyed using that but this newer version is a game changer.

I bought this product at Ulta on a whim after seeing the Good Molecules display. I had heard great things about the brand and wanted to try something out. I picked this product in particular in hopes of lightening up some post acne marks that I have seriously been struggling with, and brightening my overall skin tone.

2 things that I have yet to find a good solution for! The price for this was so great I had very little hope/expectations that it would work… After just a few days of using this, I ACTUALLY NOTICED it WORKING!! I kept myself quiet though because I didn’t want to be super hopeful, almost thought I was crazy.

But after a week, my mom started commenting on my spots lightening up and my face looking brighter. She didn’t even know I bought this! It’s been about 2 weeks now and I am continuing to use this every morning and night and the results are just incredible.

The actual product feels super good on the skin, it feels kind of silky and not oily OR drying at all. I keep my bottle in the box because I think you’re supposed to protect it from light. At this price point, you should definitely give it a try for yourself.

This is an update to my review in August. My first bottle was purchased in June of 2021. I had EXTREMELY bad hyperpigmentation. When I used the combo of the Niacinamide toner and this serum, in 6-8 weeks, my skin was completely cleared up.

After the serum was gone, I used the toner a few times a week, because it was all I needed with my clear skin. I’m a picker when I’m under stress, so I purchased another set last month and I knew after a few weeks, something was definitely different.

The results weren’t the same. I know this formula has changed. I’m sure you don’t care, but this was the first serum that I found that worked for African American dark skin. Reading some of the reviews, I’m quite sure that you don’t listen to your customers, as I see plenty have stated that they’ve experienced minimal results and you haven’t changed it back to the original formula.

Although the claim by the company is that you’ve improved the formula, you didn’t. Sometimes, stronger isn’t better, especially when there’s a breakdown in the quality of this new formulation. I won’t be purchasing anymore of your products.

Dermisa is an excellent and cost effective way to achieve skin brightening. The product works slowly (which means it is safe to use). If one is patient the results will be apparent. Dermisa has been my go to for years.

I’ve used this product for approximately one week. At this time, I see little change in the areas of hyperpigmentation. I will, however, continue to use this product as no adverse reaction is noted.

Purchase this to help clear up previous acne scars, work fast was able to see a difference with a few days. Make sure to use moisturizer, made my face really soft. Con: Do not leave on face long will cause dryness.

The PRO Strength Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment is AMAZING. It honestly works wonders. I have been using it on my face for freckle and sun damage discoloration. After just a few weeks I’ve already noticed a huge difference.

My skin tone is much more even and it even helps with blackheads. I use it first thing in the morning and then put my daily spf moisturizer over top 10-15 mins later after PRO Strength Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment has dried.

I notice if I use at night and rub my eyes after applying they get irritated. I am going to start using PRO Strength Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment on my neck and back to for sun damage and discoloration.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product works. It’s really expensive. I know. but I’m hoping it lasts a while like most Peter Thomas products.

I think the product works well and more swiftly than I anticipated. My one disappointment was that the tube was not full when I got it. I assumed it would be full but I had to squeeze for a bit before anything came out.

I have always loved these products ever since discovering a travel size tube of Body Lotion on the floor in and Alaska Airlines jet. I’d been bumped up to first class and when we took off the tube rolled out from under another seat.

I asked the person in front of me if it was hers and she said no. I opened and sniffed and put some lotion on. I loved the fragrance and how great my skin felt. Eight or ten large tubes later there is still nothing I’d rather use.

So, I imagine it will be the same with this product as well.

I have a love/hate relationship with this treatment. I have very oily skin and this is a cream formulation so I was a bit nervous to try this out. I had multiple bright pinkish red acne scars on my face that I was desperate to get rid of that my other niacinamide serums were slowly taking care of just not as quick as I would’ve liked.

I felt like I needed a boost in brightening effects than I was currently getting. This was appealing because of the kojic acid, tranexamic acid, and alpha arbutin all in one. I began applying this serum every other night to see how my skin would react to the new ingredients for a week then started using this every night in place of my other niacinamide serums.

It felt light on application and absorbed pretty well. But honestly, it was way too much moisture for my oily skin, and I think it clogged my pores more than they already were. I didn’t get any new pimples, just a couple of the small pimples that I had which were barely visible got swollen and red.

I was really disappointed because I was so excited to try this. So I instead began just using it as a spot treatment on my acne scars/hyperpigmentation. Let me tell you it worked way better this way!!! I’ve been using this for about 3 weeks, and most of my flat acne scars are barely visible! I have one raised scar that is taking a bit longer to fade but I kind of expected that.

Overall, I do like the cream for spot treating but I wouldn’t recommend putting it all over your face if you have oily skin. Like any other treatment, consistency is key. I use it every morning and night after serums and before moisturizer.

I definitely think it’s worth a try!.
