Best Leslie Speaker Simulator Pedal (2026 Updated)

It’s an expensive bit of kit, but it is the best guitar pedal Ive ever owned. Highly configurable, great sound. You get what you pay for in some cases; this is one of them. Great service from Scan, quick delivery.

Excellent sounds, although would like top speed faster. Light is too bright, makes controls hard to see. I wish all pedal makers would put ins/outs etc at the top to make pedalboard planning easier.

When I first received the pedal I did not know how to get the best out of it. After experimenting I have found the pedal to be very useful and enjoy the sounds.

Really happy with this pedal. Use it mainly as a rotary keyboard sound for chords playing three piece. guitar bass and drums. works to break up the guitar sound occasionally without appearing to be over the top with effects.

pretty easy to use on the default settings. gets a little confusing if you try to customise it. which I haven’t so really stoked.

It’s a good pedal, but there is no way to control its intensity. and it is very intense.

Incredible Leslie Simulator! This has to be the best Leslie sound available without having to invest in the real thing.

Has a unique sound that plays well with other effects build quality is exceptional. I use it for electric violin drums and synth. Try it in different spots in your effect chain. Awesome when paired before a wah!!!.

The saying – It just sounds better with the pedal on – is applicable here. If your a tone freak this pedal is for you. I sold my Mini Ego to get this and I dont regret it. The ego is a quality compressor and is the best I had used until I got this one.

Ive used various Electro Harmonix, TC electronics, Wampler, and Boss compressors. This pedal will please those players who like to leave their compressor on all the time, like me, or the ones who turn it on and off and change the settings for different songs.

There is no tone knob on this. because you dont need it. The compression sound is perfect wherever the amount is set. The dry mix knob allows you to blend your uncompressed guitar with the compressed.

For me this means i can get the sustain without loosing any of my tone – attack, low end, etc. It allows you to have a wide range of compression for very little to as squishy as you want. The noise in most compressors has been an issue for me.

This one is much better IMO. You can use this with both clean and dirty tones. Both sound great. The build quality on this pedal is excellent. Theres no click for the on/off switch- very nice. The indicator light is very helpful on the amount of compression.

There isnt a cheap part on these pedals. The knobs are very smooth andclearly are top shelf quality. Dont be afraid to spend the extra money on this thing, its worth every penny.

I wanted all of the effects this unit offers; Rotary, Vibe, 3 variations of Wah, a Octave Up or Down that could be mixed in, and a Fuzz that isn’t over the top unless you want it to be. I wasn’t sure if Rotary sound from a mono effect would be what I wanted, but it sounds like it should, very musical.

All of the FX play well together. The Fuzz is adjustable in depth, so you can dial in just what you need. This is pitched as a Jimi Hendrix influenced unit, and you can definitely get those sounds, but it has the wiggle room to dial in your own sounds as well.

Very well thought out, useful control parameters, and the expression pedal works without setting a slew of esoteric control change parameters. Keeley pedals are more intuitively musical thanh many other companies products.

Nothing to dislike! I’ve had one for years,it’s my most used pedal. The fuzz side weirded out after a bit,and when I contacted Keeley they DEMANDED I let them fix it for free. They upgraded some parts,sent it back before I could even pay for return shipping.

The provided effects are stellar. Knobs are very sensitive in a good way An essential pedal for my signal chain;be better if I had 2 of ’em. I WISH it was stereo,but then that would be a different pedal revue.

It is what it is, and that’s saying a lot.

The pedal has a lot of great tones in it straight out of the box, and would be a good value right there. But, when you add into the Neuro App, you can teak the stock tones to your liking to tailor fit your desires past the knobs on the pedal.

Or! you can change out the stock tones for a 30-40 different tones, from a Russian Big Muff, Darkglass, TS, and synth bass tones, to name a few. Then you can tailor fit THOSE to your liking with the app and knobs.

Its a great value.

With this pedal you get more than 50 various drive engines, that are hidden inside. You can use 2 drives at once – in parallel or cascaded one into another. With the mobile app you have so much controls it can get even confusing.

Don’t want dig too dip – use mobile app just to assign 3 favourite drives on 3 mini-switch positions, that’s it. Awesome pedal, much more interesting than my previous MXR Bass Distortion.

I got this pedal to add a distortion unit with midi functionality to my board and this doesn’t disappoint. Drive + Parametric EQ and with tons of different distortion types. Yes please. It can be routed numerous ways (my favorite being Mono effect plus dry through) and having this, or any source audio pedal to the board elevates your sound!!.

Not having a dedicated organ section in my Nord Wave 2, the Lester K takes the organ samples I’ve put in the wave (sampled from a B3 app) from fairly dead and uninspiring sounds, to full on B3 with Leslie.

I love that the speed settings for the hi and low speakers have notches in the centre, which sets the K to the speed settings of the original Leslie speaker. Looking forward to gigging with the Lester K very soon!.

I had become spoiled over the past few months using my friend’s Motion Sound 3D rotary horn amp with my over achieving Casino keyboard. When he needed it back I had to find a way to feed my Leslie addiction without having to lug equipment around on a dolly.

I tried my Money Laundry pedal which is excellent for guitar but fought with the DSP effects from my Casino. I did find a back door way to disable the DSP effects eventually. But the real solution was the Lester K! To my unsophisticated ear it sounds as good as the Motion Sound and offers a better control interface.

It doesn’t conflict with the DSP effects although I think it is better without them in the path. I am using it through a simple Peavey keyboard amp and couldn’t be happier with the results. As mentioned earlier, the weight to swirl ratio is the clincher.

Just hooked this up to my Nord Electro 2 and Crumar Mojo dual. Havent got it tweaked all the way, but it is excellent. Sounds like an old Leslie with worn lower belt. Overdrive is good and speed/ balance controls make it tweak able.

Ramp time adjustment would be nice, but not enough to be a factor. Sounds great on Nord nice step up on Leslie sim there. With it in break, and overdrive up a bit makes Rhodes and wurly nice and beefy.

This pedal is not the cheapest for creating sustain. They say the electronics is constantly analysing the audio input source and takes a small millisecond of the audio signal to loop. There is control of the dry/wet, attack, and decay signal.

Sustain up to infinite. Up to 5 layers can be sampled and played back. There are an effects loop so other pedals can be use after the plus which should be at the start of any pedal setup, optional dry only out.

Pros: very responsive with the piano-style pedal, a big plus and better than a switch. Very good build quality. It gamechanger audio and they make great stuff. You can create some very nice soundscapes.

To do this you will certainly need the optional footswitch. Cons: no other effects, no included PSU. Makes it expensive especially if you add the footswitch (a must have) and PSU.

Firstly, It’s very expensive for what it is, so you’d expect top quality etc. It looks good and is well made and finished but an item that costs close to £300 doesn’t come with a power supply!!! Fortunately, I had a spare Boss supply that met the requirements stated in the manual.

Secondly, it only works when first in the FX chain (I used it on the send/return on my Boss GT10). Although it hints at this in the instructions, it is in fact vital. Thirdly, the example that I bought took some fiddling to set up and seemed to work well but next time it was turned on it didn’t, producing a garbled warbling sound.

This inconsistent reliability continued over several days until I gave up with it and send it back to GAK, who refunded me. Even on the occasions when this pedal worked, it didn’t offer much better facilities than the ‘hold’ pedal on my Boss GT10, It may be that with different set-ups, it may work better but if not, it’s an expensive waste of time and money.

Built like a tank, similar in operation to the EHX Freeze pedal but more expressive. I like the brass sustain pedal, it is easy to modulate the volume of the repeated phrase. You do have to be accurate in where you get the pedal to freeze the sound as it can result in a burbling type staccato repeat if you are not careful.

I got the Wet switch unit with it but I cant see me using in the Wet mode very often.

This was a really good option because my tube amp has a load box built into it, so rather than having to buy the more expensive unit for the load box feature this is really a good option. it does not come with a whole lot of different cabinets.

But, the cabinets it has are basically all of the standards you would really want and their simulations sound amazing. within about 30 minutes I had already set up three or four different cabinets that I really liked and the room effects are very good.

I was extremely impressed with the fact that you could simulate a microphone behind the amp to get the full room sound I’ve never really seen that on simulations before and it works wonderfully. Some more room options would be nice built into it but the reverb in it is excellent.

That would be my only main complaint to the unit is that everything is based on buying more things out of their store. However at least you have those options available and the ones that do come in there are just fine and would handle almost any recording situation.

Overall: First of all, I am pretty sold school when it comes to amps and effects. A simple tube amp pushed with a couple of tube screamers, the on board reverb from the amp itself, and some modulation like delay and chorus.

I joined a band a few years back that was about to go into the studio to record an album the year before covid struck. As a result, I ended up buying a Pod HD500X as a way to try to consolidate the effects that I might need all in one unit.

I used it mainly as a “pedal board” in front of the [tube] amp as if it were my old analog board full of individual pedals. Needless to say, the recording project got pushed back because of the pandemic, and I was stuck at home, with a lot of time to play around with the processor.

It was “good” but it left me wanting an easier to use option. As you could imagine, what that kind of time on my hands, I did a lot of floating around the internet just looking at possible modelers. All of the names.

Kemper, Helix, Axe FX, Fractal, and this HeadRush board. Out of everything that was out there, the HeadRush board seemed to be VASTLY easier to try to figure out. Pushing my late 40s now, I don’t really ‘enjoy’ learning new technology the way I did in my teens and twenties, so I didn’t want a steep learning curve just to be able to use this thing.

I spent a day while it was being shipped looking over youtube tutorials as to how to use it. Only took me a few hours of messing around with it once it got here to dial in the tone that I had on the HD500X.

If you can use your cell phone, you can figure this board out. The effects sound convincing and the amp models really seem as good as the competition’s offerings (even if this board doesn’t have quite as many jammed into it).

We are about three weeks out from going in to start laying down the guide tracks for this LP [finally], and this will make things much easier to navigate when each little tone will be more heavily scrutinized.

The ability to tweak it on the fly will save time (and thus MONEY) in that studio environment. No deep dives into large menus to try to make a minor adjustment. Gives me a lot more freedom to just try to play my parts instead of worrying about the setup itself.

I think this board is a bit underrated as far as the amps and cabs as well. I still will be running it to my amplifier and mic-ing it up as I do still like the “feel” that tubes give when playing. But who knows, I may use some of the sims as well.

Built like a tank. A bit heavier than I had expected. Should hold up well under live applications (though that was actually not a problem with the 500X either). I highly recommend this unit if you want to get something that doesn’t take a degree from Berklee in sound engineering to get started making music.

Awesome product and easy to use. Team is constantly improving the product and they keep on adding new features and models. To me the models sound warmer and more realistic than the Line 6, but again, this is all subjective.

I would definitely recommend this product, its an amazing value, at the moment I am sure that as the product get more features and models you will probably not find it at the current market price. Same this happened with the Helix from initial release to the current price.

Its easy to fall into the quantity of models and effects, I end up only using a few that I enjoy as my primary tone. Its better to have what you need with great quality. Great Build quality, awesome screen and scribble strips are OLED.

Just cutting edge technology that is still growing!!.

IšverstiShow in original languageI recommend the HIGH IMPEDANCE version of this model for any location in guitar rig signal path. This is very a solidly built unit and a perfect size and weight. I tried it in my guitar setup, for volume swells and to control the overall level being sent from my pedalboard to the front end of a Marshall Plexi-style non-master volume tube amp.

I A/B’d it exhaustively vs the HIGH impedance version of this same pedal, and strongly preferred the sound of HIGH impedance model, even after a buffer. My signal path is Tumnus (with always-on BUFFER) overdrive, into Rockett Dude overdrive (true bypass), then the volume pedal then delay/reverb, into the front of a cranked up amp attenuated after the speaker output.

Putting volume pedal after dirt but before delay and reverb lets the “tails” of the time-based effects decay naturally when you cut off the signal with the volume pedal. According to Boss’ information–and the “prevailing wisdom”–this LOW impedance model theoretically is supposed to work better than the HIGH imp one after a buffered pedal.

But in my rig, my tests showed the LOW imp version sounded a bit duller than the HIGH impedance one, even after the buffer. My rig’s frequency response and the overall gain structure of the amp were slightly altered by the LOW imp version when compared to having no volume pedal or using a HIGH imp one.

You often read that HIGH impedance volume pedals after a low impedance output pedal (like the buffer on my Tumnus) can suffer–the volume taper of the pedal supposedly gets less gradual, more touchy and sort of on/off.

But my tests gave a different result. The HIGH impedance version still had a very usable taper, and smooth volume swells were no problem. With the superior sound of the HIGH imp version, that’s the one I kept.

The size of this pedal is ideal. Not too huge, but still large enough to feel natural. The heavy, metal construction helps keep the pedal in place on the floor, and not sliding around.

Not to small or large. L/R in/out, plus exp jack. Tension setting helps for fine tuning volume control. Recommend remove base plate and blow out rheostat once a year or so. Use compressed air (Office Depot/Office Max).

IšverstiShow in original languageI now own the FV50L, the FV500L and the FV200 BOSS stereo volume pedals. I mainly use them for keyboard and midi modules connected to the keyboard but also for controlling the volume of soundtracks used for some live performances.

All three pedals work great and are of good quality. I especially like the FV50L because it is considerably shorter than the others taking up less room and it is made of lightweight but sturdy plastic.

If you are rough on foot pedals the FV200 (an older model) or FV500L would be a better choice depending on the features you want. The FV50L has the minimum volume level control and a tuner output but it doesn’t have the adjustable feel control that the FV500L has.

The feel resistance on the FV50L is fine for me and I never had to touch that control on the FV500L as it was fine right out of the box. The FV200 only has the minimum volume level control. There is virtually no extra noise added from any of these pedals and no noisy pots even in the old FV200 that I bought used.

The volume sweeps are all smooth and even. I upgraded to these pedals from all my vintage Morley optical controlled volume pedals because they don’t require power, they are narrow, less maintenance and the input/output jacks are all at the toe end of the pedals resulting in better cable routing and less clutter under the keyboard and fewer power cords, since I use up to four at once in my stage setup plus several foot switches and the sustain pedal.

See pictures to compare. At first I couldn’t decide which pedal would be best so I bought all three and they are all good with the FV200 being the least desirable to me because it is longer than the others and doesn’t have the tuner out though I don’t use that feature with keyboards.

I rated at 4 only because it is made of plastic and might not hold up for some people.

I listened to every demo on the internet of rotary speaker pedals and I thought the Lester G sounded the best to me. Now that I am using it, I am happy with the choice. It sounds good in mono, but running it in stereo, it sounds so authentic.

I have had Leslie 147’s, 122, and MotionSound passive and powered rotary speakers systems over the years. This pedal does a great job creating that unique sound. With the overdrive control, you can dial in some great tones, like Stephen Stills intro on Woodstock, or It Don’t Come Easy by Ringo Starr, and Drift Away by Dobie Grey.

Don’t forget Badge by Cream.

I bought this initially to compliment the EHX C9 organ pedal. Yet, as a stand alone pedal for my guitar it does a number of things and could replace other pedals. With an expression pedal the Lester allows a user to produce tremelo, chorus as well as the the Leslie tones all with variable tempo, on the fly, as one plays.

This pedal also has a built in compression which contributes to my already substantial sustain. As an added bonus the drive function supplies another overdrive voice that I think I prefer over all the other gain stages available on my pedal board and from my amp.

Well done Electro-Harmonix. I only wish I had purchased this pedal years ago.

Have needed an effective rotary speaker pedal for a long time. Got tired of issues with an effects processor that is over 25 years old! The E-H LesterG pedal can do it all as I expect it to do. Controls are effective and easy to use.

Great recreation of a classic and awe inspiring musical masterpiece. The Leslie rotating speaker systems of the 60’s and 70’s made my jaw drop and my ears and eyes stand there bewildered as they spun ( horns and subs in opposite directions, the speed controlled by a footswitch ) their way into my heart with their out of this world, cosmic, pulsating sound making your chords sound like whistling whooshing of air.

They literally would make the hairs on your body quiver if you stood close enough to the big ones. I could only dream. But now Roland/Boss brings back a very, VERY impressive electronic recreation of these whirling wonders in the BOSS RT-20.

The color they chose for this magical musical “double pedal” from the BOSS “20 series” is very fitting as it is worth it’s weight in “GOLD”. Do yourself a favor and give one a listen today!.

Inspired by the sweet funky lead guitar tones of the Arc Angels song “Good Time”, I started a quest for a good Leslie simulator that took me almost 15 years to complete. I tried (and even bought) several effects over the years, but found all of them extremely lacking in one way or another.

When I found the Boss RT20, I was impressed by (1) the overall warmth and tone, (2) the ability to adjust the level(s) of the Horn and Rotor, as well as inject more of the Dry signal if need be, and (3) the low noise threshhold.

The various Modes (I, II, III, IV) are useful due to how different rooms affect your tone; a bouncy, bright room worked better with Mode II. A dark, “dead” room worked better with Mode I, etc. (your results may vary).

The “Brake” function works great, very close to the actual brake action of a real Leslie (I like how it ramps up and dow, and has a control of how fast that ramping is). I have dialed in reasonable sonic facsimiles of SRV’s “Cold Shot”, Clapton’s “Badge”, Harrison’s “Let It Be” and Jimmie Vaughan’s “Tear It Up” and “Tip On In” tones.

as well as my own “Travis County Line” and “I Love You (But Yo Momma’s Gotta Go)” A multi-instrumentalist (drummer/guitarist/keyboardist/bassist/singer/producer) within our group has used the pedal with his lower-end Yamaha keyboard, and got great results; after mixing the song, you would think there is an acual Hammond B-3 or C-3 in the band.

Some people have criticized the Uni-Vibe setting; I’ll admit it isn’t perfect, but I’ve heard much, much worse. (Although, I admit I’m not much of a Uni-Vibe user, so take my non-criticism with a grain of salt).

I personally like the spinning light show–it allows you to “see” the speed of the settings. The only criticism: The distortion effect should never, ever, ever be turned on. It turns the entire effect into a steaming pile of elephant droppings.

It’s not even a “good” bad. There are perhaps better Leslie effects out there (I’ve played through the Strymon and was suitably impressed), but for the money, this one is definitely a keeper. Is this as good as a real Leslie 122 or 145 or Vibratone? Probably not, but this costs and weighs significantly less–especially considering how I normally only use this effect for two to three songs throughout the performance.

The final cherry on top of the sundae: The lovely Lady Armadillo bought this pedal for me for our wedding anniversary.

I actually bought a different sim pedal, but after comparing it to this one (my guitar player had it) I exchanged the one I bought originally for this one. I think for the price, this sim pedal has versatility that you typically expect of pedals costing twice as much.

I love the LED rotor display on stage, you can quickly see your rotor speed. Very tight control of the effect, very sturdy construction. The only thing that kept me from giving it a 5-star rating was having to purchase the AC adapter separately.

But other than that, I am VERY happy with this. It makes my software synths sound like a full-blown Hammond/Leslie combo, that I can pack under one arm instead of having to hire help to carry.

Probably the best Leslie sim. Very well built although the power supply looks pretty weedy. Sounds fantastic and definitely enhances any organ clone one may put through it. Sounds great with guitars also.
