This Precision pickup is for musicians who want maximum output and extended frequency range. Large quarter-inch wide pole pieces expand the magnetic field and extend the frequency range from low to high end for a fat full punchy sound with midrange presence.
The Seymourized u2122 design balances the coils with the magnets for great sustain and harmonics. Pickup cover included. nnThere’s a reason this is our most popular Basslines pickup massive tone. The QP has a fat, punchy tone that pushes P-bass pickups past previous models with design and frequency improvements.
The quarter-inch diameter pole pieces expand the magnetic field and extend the frequency ranges for fat, full, punchy sound with tremendous mid-range presence and maximum output. Though often used for heavy rock tones, this pickup gives amazing tonal versatility, making it a favourite across the board in live and studio settings.
This pickup is a drop-in replacement for any American Standard Precision Bass. Hand built i.
I have my first bass, Ibanez Gio 200. That bass just feels really good in my hands. It is small, and light and just has a great feel but it has pretty weak stock pickups. For the last few months I have been researching the idea of replacing those pickups.
I have been talking to Sal, the bass mechanic about doing this. Being on a low budget upgrading this bass rather than getting a new one was my decision. So I brought in the bass and you guys just happened to have Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound PJ Bass pickups.
I asked “what do you have in Bass pickups?” and Max got out the PJ pickups and a couple others. I was going to order the PJ pickups but you had them, I left it with Sal and a couple days later. that bass is now a lil monster.
I will be upgrading another bass and a guitar pretty soon at Sam Ash. I go to Sam Ash for just about everything I get. always get what I needed. Thanks Sam Ash.
Your bass really doesn’t need batteries, it needs better pickups. I have used SPB 3 pickups since the 1980’s. I sold my bass and felt a strange emptiness, so I bought another bass – but the sound was wrong for me.
I pulled all the electronics and put in a set of 1/4 pounders for P-J. I love them. From the very first notes of testing the bass my favorite sound came back. No need for batteries with these pickups, your guitar won’t die on you in the middle of a gig.
If you really need a bass preamp, my advice is use a pedal. My inexpensive bass now plays like a million bucks.
The Seth Lover vintage output humbucker pickups are the perfect choice for players wanting to transform a solid body or semi hollow into a singing classic rock machine. Nothing but blue sky. The Seth Lover neck model gives you a smooth but articulate tone by striking the perfect balance of warm, full low-end and a nice sweet treble.
The alnico 2 bar magnet helps to smooth the high-end response, while the vintage output coils bring out this pickup’s rich harmonic content. Single notes will have that perfect singing quality, and the un-potted nickel silver cover creates an almost piano-like tone and percussive feel.
The Seth Lover bridge model gives you that warm, airy, open tone by striking just the right balance of low-end warmth with a smooth but articulate top end. Chords will have a full, open sound, and single notes will have a soft yet articulate feel.
The Seth Lover vintage output humbucker pickups are carefully hand built in Santa Barbara to Seth Lover’s original exacting specs. Our butyrate bobbin molds are created by the same factory that built the original PAF mold for Gibson.
Other key features include our specially manufactured 42AWG plain enamel mag wire, nickel silver cover, 2. 5-inch alnico 2 bar magnet, custom machined metal and maple spacers, and nickel silver bottom plate.
I play mostly jazz standards on hollow body guitars but occasionally stray into territory occupied by some of rock’s greatest lead guitar solos. I play clean with just a bit of reverb and the Seymour Duncan SH-55n pickup is absolutely outstanding for the purposes to which I put it.
I have never used the SH-55b bridge version of this pickup, so I cannot comment on it. The SH-55n is an absolutely exquisite neck pickup. It’s clarity, string-to-string tone separation and complex harmonics make it an outstanding pickup at any price, and a real bargain compared with the cost of many boutique pickups.
Be prepared to be surprised by the power of this Alnico 2 magnet pickup as well. It has plenty of volume to feel through a pedal chain where you can do additional sound shaping. The only application for which it might be ill-suited is heavy metal and/or high distortion applications.
Then again, would you really want to enter a Lexus in a mud bog race?.
This pair of Seth Lover PAFs by Seymour Duncan were installed in a 1995 Hamer Studio with a rosewood fretboard, mahogany body and a flamed maple cap so I am not about to describe how they sound in a Les Paul by Gibson or one of the LP clones.
I have tried the standard Duncans that came with the guitar (JB and a ’59) and was never happy with the JB though the ’59 was decent. I have tried other pickups by Duncan and Gotoh and Manilus in this guitar but none were going where I wanted to go.
The Seth Lover’s were my last hope. The dislike with all the PAF style pickups I tried was they helped to make the guitar sound brighter and this Hamer Studio does not need help like that!! From what I read about the Lovers I was afraid they too would brighten an already bright guitar.
NOT THE CASE. From the first instant I was pleased with what I heard and now several weeks later I am really loving what they do. The neck is very articulate and clear but warmth is available at all times.
Rolling off the tone control just opens up more possibilities from this pickup and it remains useful throughout the range of tone settings. The bridge is likewise useful at all tone settings but it really can give a nice bite and brings to mind some sounds from Bloomfield and Clapton way back when.
The Hamer volume controls are interesting beasts and when fully open they really let some high end frequencies come through. Playing with the volume and tone together just keeps revealing more and more great sounds.
I am presently playing all kinds of music except metal through a ’65 Fender Princeton Reverb Reissue with stock Jensen speaker and a Vox AC15C1 with the Celestial greenback speaker. The guitar sounds great through both.
I am not at all sure how these Lovers would sound through a high gain amp but maybe someone else has tried that and can address the situation. I am really pleased with the Lovers and would have paid more for this sound if I had to.
Frankly they sound better than more expensive pickups I tried in this guitar.
No Wax to dull the tone or kill the chime of the highs, a very smooth bell tone sound with the ability to overdrive into a classic distortion. If you love playing guitar, you will love playing it more with these.
Dont listen to others brag about all the hype of age and special woods or original winder just get it from the source, Seymour Duncan Original you will be very pleased trust me. The Best Sounds are from the 50`s wireing no coil split just flat out straight up two humbuckers.
Get powerful, distorted, rocking tone with this pair of SH-6 Duncan Distortion humbuckers. Players of the SH-6 include John Connolly (Sevendust) (bridge), Jerry Horton (Papa Roach) (bridge), Meegs Rascon (Coal Chamber) (bridge), Wayne Static (Static-X) (bridge), Eric Peterson (Testament) (bridge).
Experience Heavy Guitar Sound! The SH-6 Duncan Distortion’s design boasts a combination of massive ceramic magnets with a pair of over-wound coils to give you the ultimate heavy guitar sound. Each pickup is specially calibrated for their neck and bridge positions.
Experience chunky, low-end, power chords to raging leads with aggressive harmonics. Both these pickups include four-conductor wiring for trick switching options. They also come with a wiring diagram and mounting hardware.
Recommended for Balanced and Warm Instruments The SH-6 works great for balanced and warm instruments, especially with rosewood fingerboards. Designed for Bridges with Traditional String Spacing The bridge model is designed for bridges with traditional string spacing of 1.
Take your guitar to the center of the earth. By combining a large ceramic magnet with custom winding specs, the Nazgl offers the perfect blend of note articulation, saturation and one of the most brutal “chugs” youll ever hear from a humbucker.
It has incredible harmonic content across all frequency ranges, and an insanely tight bass response. The Nazgl has a seriously aggressive high gain sound that is lively, yet completely controllable. And, on clean amp settings, it still knows how to behave and give you those clear, bell-like tones when you need them.
The Nazgl was originally designed specifically for 7 and 8-string guitars, with the goal of delivering the perfect modern metal pickup for low tunings for extended range instruments under high gain. The Nazgl has since erupted from the depths, and become a favorite among 6-, 7- and 8-string guitarists; serving players whose styles range from hard rock to progressive metal and everything in between.
Hand built in our Santa Barbara, CA factory, the Nazgl high-output humbucker pickups use a large ceramic bar magnet, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, and are vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance.
Forged to fathom the deepest of metal tunings, the Nazgl high-output humbucker pickups searing highs, grinding mids and tight bass define the sound of modern metal.
The Black Winter pickup is a savagely high-output passive humbucker built for extreme metal, with no less than three large ceramic magnets to ensure maximum output and sustain in all high-gain situations.
The custom overwound coil design delivers incredible clarity in the mids and highs, while the low end stays controlled and focused. The Black Winter is designed to handle any tuning, no matter how low you go, and its voicing facilitates aggressive palm mutes, fluid sweep picking, and punishing lead tones.
Crushing distortion, vicious mids, and aggressive saturation are at your fingertips, without sacrificing string-to-string separation or sensitivity. The 7- and 8-string versions are built to handle even more extended-range low notes with ease.
Pair the bridge Black Winter with the Black Winter neck model for maximum metal onslaught.
The DiMarzio DP159 Evolution Bridge Pickup is a hefty humbucker designed for maximum impact and power. The Evolution pickup’s sound is tight, aggressive, and loud. The DP159 Evolution incorporates DiMarzio’s patented dual-resonance coil configuration that senses more harmonic overtones than ordinary humbuckers.
Perfect for solos that really cut through. Low notes are very tight, and the highs have a lot of presence. DiMarzio designed the DP159 pickup for Steve’s Ibanez Jems, but it can add a lot of punch and definition to Les Paul and similar set-neck guitars — even the lowest bass notes really jump out of the amp, and feedback occurs easily with a wide range of harmonic overtones.
If your guitar produces a bit of a thin or scooped tone in the bridge position, then I highly recommend the Breed. This is the 2nd one I’ve installed. The 1st was dropped into an ’89 Ibanez RG560. With a Floyd Rose style bridge, I found that the Dimarzio Breed gave it the body and mids that was missing.
In fact, I was so impressed that I just put another one into my Kiesel Delos. Fantastic guitar, but the light swamp ash body did give it a thinner sound with the stock Kiesel Bridge pickup. Now I have a fat bridge hum bucking tone! It also cleans up nicely.
I bought this pickup with chrome tops from Bill’s Music for my made in Japan rock n Roll machine Charvel San Dimas. Excellent service and communication from Leni Kern. Compared to the stock JB it had, the Breed sounds smoother, clearer and has magnifies the guitars character beautifully.
The treble is prominent but not overbearing and the bass never gets flubby. It provides more than enough presence thanks to that high mid range cut. It never sounds shrill or too sharp like the JB did.
For shred metal, classic rock and Hendrix with a bit more chunkiness, this pickup excels. Even at lower volumes it sounds clean and makes blues rock licks come alive. I’m a huge Vai fan and Dimarzio is my number one whilw Duncan is my number two.
This is a fantastic pickup and one of if not my favourite Alnico V. Thanks Dimarzio!.
The classic Appetite for Destruction tone in a neck humbucker! This is a black nickel covered Seymour Duncan Slash Alnico II Pro neck humbucker. Seymour Duncan used a different mag wire and winding spec that combined with the Alnico II magnet gives that famous Slash midrange crunch.
The Alnico II Pro Slash was designed to give Slash’s other Les Paul guitars-what he calls his “live guitars”-the exact tone of this legendary instrument. ApplicationWarm, moderate output humbucker. Recommended for jazz, blues, and classic rock.
DescriptionLike the standard APH-1 Alnico II Pro, this pickup uses an Alnico 2 magnet. However, the Slash model is wound with just enough boosted output to push a stock Les Paul toward the sweet sustain and rude crunch that characterizes Slash’s sound as heard on hundreds of tracks.
In addition, it comes with some of the same appointments found on the Seymour Duncan pickups in Slash’s ’86 recording axe, including single-conductor cable, long-legged bottom plate, and wooden spacer.
For the true fan, or the player who wants to capture Slash’s recorded tone, this pickup is a critical part of the tone chain. This is same pickup found in the newest Gibson Slash model Les Paul. Complete setupThe Slash aficionado will use a pair of these pickups to capture that unmistakable tone.
This pickup matches well with the SFX-11 Twin Tube Blue all-tube overdrive-distortion stompbox for singing leads and authoritative chording. Guitars While designed for use in a Les Paul, this pickup works well in any well-balanced humbucker-equipped guitar.
Also works great with hollow and semi-hollow body guitars.
The Monterey Pop Festival of 1967 was a watershed event in American music. When it was over, the world had heard and felt the sound of a Strat in the hands of a master. Single-coils in 1967 were bright and very clean.
And, of course, they hummed. DiMarzio captured the classic bright and clean sound but totally eliminated the hum with their patented Area technology. They have also reduced magnet pull by 40% for improved sustain and clarity! The Area 67 has the chime of 60s pickups, and the 2 and 4 positions are light, bright and quack-happy.
Put the Injector in the neck of my Vigier Expert 54. Was replacing a DM virtual vintage that was too vintage for my taste. Tried a YJM Fury first, but did not get what I was looking for. Enter the Injector.
Lots of power, with a lot of the bell-like qualities of a single coil for heavy blues, but has a more modern tone to it. There is a slight tilt towards full hum tone, but only slight. It can take immense amounts of gain and still remain clear, and tracks wonderfully.
The tone is very clear and well balanced, so it gives an articulate sound that is never harsh. Not exactly the same as true single coil because its smoother and is warmer, maybe due to Alnico 2 magnets and the hum-cancelling design.
I used a mixture of 250k volume control and 500k tone controls to get the tone I wanted. Previously when I used the Standard Area 58 (Staggered poles), I found the low strings are too strong, so it causes too warm string-balance that sounds muddy to me.
The “Special Order” version with Flat Non-staggered pole pieces is a great solution. Visually a small difference, but it turned out to be a worthwhile improvement for me. In this case the guitar has 12″ fretboard radius and the pickup was used in the neck position.
Seymour Duncans Antiquity II Jazz Bass single-coil neck pickup is an re-creation of the more aggressive pickups found in the original 1960s Jazz Basses. The Antiquity II Jazz Bass is constructed from period-correct materials and designs such as specially calibrated Alnico 5 magnets, push-back cloth wire, and wax potting.
These all come together, imbuing the pickup with vintage warmth and the midrange punch of the pickups from the late 60s. Pair the Antiquity II Jazz Bass neck and bridge pickups from GearNuts and your Jazz Bass will sound like a late-60s treasure.
The Seymour Duncan Antiquity Jazz Bass Bridge pickup was created to bring back the sound of another era to to modern musicians. The combination of warmth and a mid-range punch keep the pickups vintage reputation intact.
Hand crafted and wax potted to stop warping and oxidization, players can achieve a high-quality tone that cuts through any mix.
The classic Appetite for Destruction tone in a neck humbucker! This is a gold covered Seymour Duncan Slash Alnico II Pro neck humbucker. Seymour Duncan used a different mag wire and winding spec that combined with the Alnico II magnet gives that famous Slash midrange crunch.
Made for Jeff Loomis, this active bridge humbucker is crafted for clarity, attack and body, with a voicing inspired by high-output passive humbuckers. Jeff Loomis uses his bridge pickup for a lot of different sounds: speed-picked solos, liquid legato licks and aggressive rhythms.
He needs a pickup that stays clear under heavy distortion and is able to faithfully reproduce every nuance of his right-hand picking and left-hand phrasing choices. This high-output active humbucker is designed with an Alnico 5 bar magnet and steel pole pieces, and is voiced with a strong pick attack and a pronounced midrange response that allows the pickup to track fast playing very accurately, without sounding thin.
The low end is focused to keep the low B string sounding clean and tight. Jeff tested this pickup extensively on the road with Arch Enemy. Alongside its 6-string counterpart, the 7-string model has been painstakingly calibrated to handle the extended low range of his signature Schecter guitars while retaining the tone and punch that give the pickup its voice.
Seymour’s special re-wound PAFs went into a Les Paul and captured a sound that blasted through a Marshall stack and into history. These same pickups are now the Whole Lotta Humbucker. In his youth, Seymour Duncan spent time in London and aided fellow young guitar players with defining their sound through pickups.
This wouldn’t be much of a story if one of these lads didn’t go on to change the world! The recipe for these pickups starts with a rough cast Alnico 5 magnets, plain enamel wire, and Seymour’s unique wind pattern.
The bridge is a hotter than vintage 8. 78k DC resistance and the neck is similarly beefy at 8. 20k. Tonally, the rough cast magnets add warmth and balanced note-to-note clarity so everything sounds bigger.
What is sonically unique about the Whole Lotta Humbucker is the way they push your amp and add a very slight natural compression and sustain to your playing. You know how they sound!.
A classic moderate output humbucker, the SH-2W for neck position is not only great for jazz, but also country, blues, funk, classic rock, and heavy rock. The SH-2W provides an articulate and clear tone.
Great for fast runs. The brighter tone has slightly less output and is a good match with most bridge pickups. When distorted, the tone is full and bright. Smooth sustain. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable.
For balanced and warm instruments. Works especially well with mahogany bodies and rosewood fingerboards. Also works great with hollow and semi-hollow body guitars.
SH-16 59/Custom Hybrid, White by Seymour Duncan Players who demand bright clarity with natural sustain and chunk are flocking to this pickup! Mismatch hot and vintage coils along with a strong alnico 5 magnet makes this pickup screen with harmonics while retaining vintage clarity.
A Versatile blend of classic and modern tones. Recommended for blues, rock, pop, and classic rock. Unique hybrid construction pairs a ’59 screw coil with a Custom slug coil for crisp, clear highs, powerful lows, and a complex midrange growl.
Use in the bridge position with any vintage-output neck humbucker, such as the ’59n or the Alnico II Pro. or any well-balanced dual-humbucker guitar. Works equally well with maple and rosewood fingerboards.
A traditionally wired coil split yields the stronger Custom coil for a robust split tone.
Warm, moderate-output single-coil for Tele. Great for country, pop, jazz, blues and classic rock. Bridge position, Alnico 2 magnets, 6. 2 Kohm. The sand cast Alnico 2 magnets and moderate windings yield a warm, sweet tone with more natural string vibration for great sustain.
Players who get their distortion from the amp rather than the pickup love the Alnico II Pro. It allows them to back off the crunch and get beautiful clean tones with softer attack. Compared to the Vintage ’54, the Alnico II Pro has a rounder sound with a spongier bass response making it well suited to brighter instruments.
Comes with waxed cloth hookup cable. For brighter toned instruments. Works especially well with maple fingerboards.
The JB Model SH-4 is one of Duncan’s – and the world’s – most popular pickups. The archetype of hot-rodded humbuckers for generations, the JB Model SH-4 is incredible for everything from heavy blues to heavy metal.
As the world’s most popular humbucker, the SH-4 has slammin’ output while retaining singing highs, aggressive harmonics, and just the right blend of sustain and distortion. But aggressive music isn’t all the SH-4 is good for.
This ‘bucker cleans up nicely, providing warm and sweet open tones. Compared to the SH-14 Custom 5, the JB has a stronger treble detail. Some players use it with 250K pots to smooth out the highs. The JB Model SH-4 comes with four-conductor hookup cable to facilitate complex pickup switching setups.
Application: The archetype hot-rodded humbucker for over 35 years. Great for everything from heavy blues to heavy metal. Recommended for bridge position. Often a JB is paired with a neck pickup like the SH-2n Jazz (Seymour’s favorite) for versatility or a SH-1 ’59 for P.A.F. tones. For balanced and warm instruments. Works especially well with rosewood fingerboards. Nickel or gold-plated cover.. Available in matched set of SH-4 JB Model bridge.. Paul Stanley / KISS. Gary Rossington / Lynyrd Skynyrd. Ty Tabor / King’s X. Steve Marker / Garbage. Nick Hexum & Tim Mahoney / 311. John Connolly / Sevendust. Dave Mustaine / Megadeth. Magnet type: alnico 5 bar. D.C. Resistance 16.4k
