20 Best Lenses For Fujifilm Xt4 (2023 Updated)

The wide-angle Fuji was needed for some interior architecture work (which I rarely do anymore). The 10-24mm range has an impressive FOV – about as wide as you go before the perspective gets weird. I liked it so much, and with the discount for the 7-day rental, I purchased the lens I had rented.

Lens Rentals staff was extremely helpful. LR has the whole “find-reserve-ship-return-or purchase” process down – I don’t think you could make it easier. My only regret is that I won’t need to rent this lens again from such a nice, professional enterprise.

The original version of this lens is a great value on the used market. The lens offers a useful range of focal lengths from ultra wide to normal. The image quality is superb and the zoom ring and aperture ring have just the right amount of resistance.

If you carry this lens along with a telephoto and a fast prime lens you will be set for just about any photographic situation. I highly recommend this lens!.

My 9th year as a Fuji shooter, fifty five years an amateur photographer still improving and I finally shelled out for a first-class wide zoom. Wonderful lens. Lives up to all the hype in fact exceeds in most respects.

I came across a new original 10-24, under five hundred (not newly released wr version for 999) Zooming primes with my feet for landscapes has finally lost its appeal. Happy with the purchase.

If you’re considering this lens you already know the specs, it is; relatively expensive, heavy for carry use, intimidating to subjects, generally the beast described by others. So where does it fit in the toolbox? Personally, these comments will be as a comparison to my Nikon 70-200mm (G and E lenses) as they were my go to for many different shooting situations.

I also found that the 180-195mm focal lengths were most commonly my favorite shots. so the Fuji is right there. Obviously as a prime, you will do the positioning and not the zoom. This lens is not really longer than the Nikons’ mentioned but the dia.

increase is really there and somehow brings to mind, a coffee can. The hood is huge and quite an extension to the overall size (I’m considering adapting a shortened version). Pleasantly surprising is how extremely well this lens, with hood, gathers light! The lens being OIS, coupled with an IBIS body (GFX 100S) performs well! I’ve leaned on a tree or a sign post and felt that it was needed but on a tripod, certainly not an issue.

The results on a RAW final image are superb! A portrait in the park renders every detail at 200 percent! The background bokeh easily separates the subject and is smooth while the focus is even/clear across the frame.

I’ve shot this lens primarily open (f4-9 range) with crisp/sharp results and that larger format look. As for toolbox, I certainly wouldn’t make this my only GFX lens but if if you have others and want the 250mm (197mm) range.

With an incredible aperture of F1. 0, the Fujifilm XF 50mm F1. 0 R WR lens allows you to capture subjects in near pitch black situations. The first night after I got this lens, I walked around my backyard with only a full moon to light my way.

I was able to capture photos of flowers, handheld, at ISO 800, F 1. 0, and the shutter speed was 1/8. With the assistance of the IBIS in my X-T4, I was able to capture clear photos which would have been otherwise impossible in similar conditions.

Getting an ND or Variable ND filter of some kind is a great idea, even with the electronic shutter active, you will still over-expose images at F1. 0 in bright daylight (even with base ISO of 160). I picked up a 6-9 stop VND from Moment, beautifully made filter with a nice look (no noticeable colour-cast or anything).

This is my first prime lens from Fuji, definitely not my last I tell ya that much. I am looking forward to trying the XF 18mm F1. 4 next. If you are concerned about focus speed, I would only worry (slightly) if it’s a high speed subject coming towards the camera.

I am sure the newer camera(s) will yield more consistent results in that situation. A must buy for any serious portrait photographer in the Fujifilm system, especially if you want that creamy-bokeh look, some have told me it resembles a larger sensor look in some ways.

Being that this was my very first time renting a lens, I was a bit concerned with the lens being damaged while in transit. When the lens arrived, those thoughts quickly dissipated as the lens was carefully packed inside a padded lens sleeve which, in turn, was placed in a very sturdy plastic box with foam core.

The lens itself (a Fujifilm XF 50-140mm f/2. 8 R LM OIS WR) was in great cosmetic and mechanical shape. It came with it’s hood and a UV filter to protect the front element. The lens worked flawlessly and I am very happy with the images I captured.

One area that could use improvement is immediately after submitting an order as there is no clear indication that the order went though successfully. Or, it wasn’t clear to me. What I did to verify it was that I went into my account’s order history and I found it listed there.

Shortly thereafter, I received an email confirming it. However, I think it would be a nice touch to display a confirmation immediately after submiting the order. Aside from that, the rental process was easy and quick.

I received emails with order status updates. I had the option to have the lens delivered to a local FedEx shipping site and it arrived on schedule. The return instructions were simple and easy to follow and I appreciate the packaging tape they included -nice touch! I am very pleased with this experience and I will certainly return to Lensrentals next time I need a specialty lens.

Great lens! I took great portraits with it for my daughter’s virtual college graduation. The lens was packaged well in a very sturdy case. The barrel and lens hood had some oily marks (?). I’m not 100% sure what it is but perhaps from previous renters who have handled the lens with oily fingers.

The front and rear elements were very clean. The zoom and focus rings were very smooth. They were no mechanical issues. I can very slightly hear the OIS motor even when I turned the OIS switch to the off position.

I’ve read some reviews on this that is normal for this lens. It’s not loud and only audible when in very quiet environments. I was using it with my X-T4 so I’m not sure if it has something to do with that.

It took great photos, nevertheless, and was very happy with the lens. I’ve actually rented this lens previously, other lenses, and a camera from Lensrentals in the past. They’re affordable, reliable, great communication, on-time with shipping and delivery.

The lens produces nice images. The manual focus is really poor, loose and easily knocked out of position with the slightest touch. The depth of field scale is next to useless, and the clunky fly by wire focusing is so slow and cheap.

The aperture ring is soft and loose and easily moved from the “A” position, it is no good for street photography as you can’t set your focus and depth of field and leave it, just putting over shoulder will move the focus ring or aperture.

The autofocus is below average for a lens of this price, slow and clunky. Landscape would be ok if you have the time to wait for it to settle. I feel the lens is overpriced for what it can provide, which is an average quality wide angle lens with limited functionality.

The kit lens provides a much better option with nearly as good quality, more flexibility, same build quality, image stabilisation and it came with the camera. The function of this lens is so poor that I could only use it for just taking snaps at work sitting on an XT10 where I don’t care if it gets damaged or dropped.

I bought the XF 16mm f/1. 4 primarily for low-light events and nature photography in harsh conditions, and the lens excels for both of these uses. As online reviews indicate it is acceptably sharp and contrasty across most of the frame right from f1.

4, and by f4-f5. 6 the corners catch up and it is very sharp to extremely sharp across the entire frame. The lens can also focus very closely for a wide angle, allowing for unique 1:4 close-up images and environmental portraits with nicely blurred backgrounds.

The build quality is exceptional, and it feels wonderful in the hand. It balances very well on the X-T2 even without the battery grip, being close in weight to the XF 18-55 (and just over 1/2 the weight of the XF 16-55).

The included hood works well and is not too bulky. The retractable focus ring (clutch) is unusual, but I like that the focus ring doesn’t turn in AF mode giving me a surer grip on the lens. The only weakness I’ve found is a fairly significant level of field curvature below f4 that can result in soft corners but sharp edges in the foreground when focusing 10-15 feet into the scene (for example, shooting a crowd scene at f2.

8), but this isn’t too objectionable and is resolved by focusing closer or reducing aperture to f4. I also find that subjects too close to the edges of the frame appear rather distorted or stretched, despite this being an optically corrected lens with minimal software correction, presumably due to the native ultra-wide-angle coverage that is cropped to the APS-C frame.

Considering the high price of the lens I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5, but on balance it’s a great addition to the Fuji XF lineup.

This is the best light autofocus zoom lens that I’ve ever used. The optics are terrific, absolutely sharp and typical of Fuji products. The manual zoom is firm yet smooth, and with no sloppiness at all.

It’s rather reminiscent of a less stiff version of my big Nikon 80-400 AF-D VR zoom. The autofocus has a slight tendency to have a few problems locking on at the maximum 230 mm setting, but by backing off to about halfway between the 135 and 230 mm it will lock in; this occurs more in lower lighting sessions and surprisingly, (at least to me), at distant objects as it seems to be less prevalent in subjects several feet away.

The Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) seems to function well, although again at lower lighting levels one needs to be cognizant of both Shutter Speed and ISO as at maximum zoom, one is dealing with a maximum aperture opening of only f6.

7. If I know in advance that this is the situation with which I’ll be dealing, I opt for either bringing along a monopod or using my Nikon D600 with that VR Zoom. There is also the aspect that the physical size of the Nikon camera permits me to hold it better than my Fuji X-E2 camera.

That stated, I bought that camera and two XC lenses (XC 15-45 mm and this XC 50-230 mm) to take with me when travelling (light) for business, to keep in the car, and for just walking around without feeling the weight of the Nikon and one of two heavy zooms.

I’ve had some great photos with it and will undoubtable have even more as I get more used to it. Incredible value lens. The attached photo, compressed extensively, really doesn’t do justice, but at full size, it’s a sharp crisp photo (where it needs to be); ISO 400, f 5.

6, 1/80th second exposure.

Understand that this XC lens isn’t part of the Fujinon XF series of lenses – there are some sacrifices to the build quality made to get it cheaper than their XF series. But the lens itself is absolutely amazing to use.

Image quality is pretty great, especially when one factors in the price – some might miss having an aperture ring on the lens though, as this lens does not have one. You’ll need to adjust it using your camera somehow (probably command dial).

It also has a plasticky build compared to the more refined metal XF lenses. The aperture of this lens as well is quite poor in comparison to other XF lenses – at 50mm, you get f4. 5 and that drops all the way to f6.

7 when zoomed all the way to 230mm, so this lens is much better suited to good lighting. Nonetheless, if you can look past these flaws, you actually get a lighter lens as well – because of the plastic build, it’s not going to be as heavy on your camera as the metal ones.

So if you are in need of a telephoto lens, and prefer shooting in the day or well-lit scenes and can look past the plastic build and lack of aperture ring, look no further than the XC 50-230mm.

Honestly, I wasn’t impressed with the XC50-230. I recognise that it’s a good budget lens, and has some key qualities such as lightweight, good range, reasonable auto-focus speed, good OIS and acceptable aperture (for a cheap lens).

But, the results were just too soft for me. I spent a day shooting with it at a range of aperture settings and shutter speeds then spent a night reviewing the results. I found that at f5. 6-f8 it was “OK” at most zoom positions.

At f11 the results were good at 50mm but less good at 230mm. Overall, I just wasn’t happy with the results and ended up selling the lens the next day.

Great performance, in a slightly bulky body. Saying this as I am a M4/3 user now. Love the image quality. Film modes are amazing. Build quality is amazing. Feel that it lacks feature equivalent to Olympus’ live composite mode.

Overall, the camera is quite amazing and has made a strong argument for a move to the X Mount lenses and APS-C sensor. Tough choice, but I am going to wait to see what OM Systems comes out with next.

Using on an X-T2 body. Lens is Made in Japan, well built (metal construction), not clinically sharp (tested 2 copies with similar results). Switching from Auto to Manual focus is through a clutch. Aperture ring rotates too easily, thus the aperture can be changed if the aperture ring is bumped or touched accidentally.

IMHO the lens is overpriced at $899. If you require a 35mm (equivalent) focal length, at $699, it is worth a try.

Perfect for pictures of people in close spaces or street. Just feels right for that. It is a big Wow for that. But terrible at anything landscape oriented that has strong red colors. Seems like the optimization for skin tones interferes with red being captured accurately.

Since I generally do not take pictures of people, not very useful for me.

I’ve been using this lens for nature photography. The image stabilisation is incredibly effective, it focusses reasonably with my XT-2 ( I suspect newer models will be even better), nice and close. I often use off camera flash for photographing insects, flowers and fungi.

The lens has doesn’t suffer from flaring and has pleasing bokeh, though its slightly cats eye nature might not be to everybody’s taste. It’s sharp enough right down to very tight apertures. I’ve printed A4 prints of shots taken at f20 and not had comments on sharpness.

The knocking sound when the lens is off is actually quite similar to other lenses but more noticeable. You just need to accept it’s there. My only gripe as someone else mentioned is the aperture ring is fairly uncertain and easily knocked out of place.

To be honest I see that as an issue with the Fuji system. As much as I love the retro aesthetic and manual controls, with this lens and the 100-400 I’m forever accidentally changing things. It’s a fine thing on smaller primes and zooms, especially for those of us who used lots of manual film lenses in the past, but on the larger lenses I find it’s getting to the point where the aperture rings feel like style over substance now.

Alles klar verstehe ich, dann warte ich halt. Dann schickte ich es ein, knappe zwei Wochen gewartet und. Sie haben keinen Fehler gefunden, deswegen kommt das Objektiv wieder zurück. Na toll! Daraufhin wieder angerufen.

Die Lösung soll wohl sein die Situationen bei den Fehlgerräuschen zu filmen und das Objektiv mit dem Film einzuschicken. Also wieder 3 Wochen bis ich das Objektiv nutzen kann. Ich werde nie wieder technische Geräte bei ReBuy kaufen! Der Service ist langsam, unzuverlässig und kein bisschen Tolerant!.

Però si monta che è un piacere sulle modernissime mirrorless Fuji, anch’esse dal gusto retò. Usarlo è un piacere, e non smetterei mai di scattare. Le immagini mi paiono ben nitide, l’autofocus piuttosto veloce, gli scatti dei diaframmi emettono dei suoni rassicuranti che sanno di solidità e precisione.

Avere da 2/3 a uno stop intero di apertura massima in più è una comodità che non ti aspetti in un kit zoom. Purtroppo non è fantastico per i video, nel senso che i rumori emessi sono tutti fedelmente captati dai microfoni incorporati nella macchina fotografica: messa a fuoco, cambio di apertura del diaframma, persino lo zoom, complice anche l’attrito delle dita.

A tutto ciò si somma un rumore di sottofondo costante, dovuto probabilmente alla stabilizzazione, che non è possibile eliminare. Basta avvicinare l’orecchio con la macchina accesa e diventa subito evidente.

Altro difetto è la facilità con cui si può cambiare apertura inavvertitamente, e il selettore separato A-M per i diaframmi (dovuto immagino all’apertura minima non costante). La distanza minima di messa a fuoco è deludente, mi crea problemi soprattutto riprendendo i bambini che possono avvicinarsi attratti dalla macchina fotografica per risultare del tutto.

First the good stuff. the price is obviously excellent. The optics are nearly identical to the 35mm f/2 WR (just less quality control on this lens so you may get a dud here and there). That’s where it ends.

And I know you don’t get something for nothing, but I’m not expected too. What I haven’t seen in all the reviews, and why I finally decide to write one (to bring perspective to the 5/5 average rating here), is the comments on how fast the autofocus is, and the CFD (close focus distance).

I don’t care that it’s a mostly plastic lens (the optics are glass thankfully), but the slow focusing and lack of close up are deal breakers for me. Especially the focusing speed which to me is a huge step backwards for the X system in general.

For a hundred more you’re getting into the used price range of the 35mm f/2 WR which is very fast to focus, weather sealed, better built, and has an aperture ring. The CFD on the WR is still similar, but to me it’s worth upgrading in price just a bit regardless.

Just got used body only xt20 and needed a lens to try it out. I was not sure how I am gonna like fuji so I did not want to spend too much money. I knew I wanted 35 mm ( 50 mm full frame equivalent) I was in between wr version or this.

But after some research this has the same optic as the more expensive version. You dont get weather protection but so is my xt20 and I take care of equipment. It was money Mostly plastic construction.

Soft at wide open ( I use 2. 8 or 4), very good lens overall. You still get very good sharp pictures out of it. Saved $200.

I wish every fujinon xf lens has a xc version at half the price like this one is. I don’t make money off of photography so I can’t justify buying an xf series lens for my Fuji xt3. But I’ve been told this xc version works optically identical to it’s xf counterpart at the same focal length, which is exactly double the price.

And I don’t know about that but this one has been amazing for my use. I have no problem losing the aperture ring. I don’t need whether resistance so lack of that isn’t an issue at all. Autofocus is awesome.

It’s not at all a loud lens. The lens is do tiny makes my xt3 look more beautiful. I got complements from many bystanders. I couldn’t be happier with this lens. If there is one thing I can ask it is if they could include a lens hood.

But that’s okay.

I have two Fuji cameras and several fast primes. I had used Fuji lenses for a long time on large format and 35mm film prior to buying into the X camera family, so I expected their XF lenses to be very good and was not disappointed.

For reference, I am a long-time Nikon shooter and have experience with Minolta and Olympus as well. Fuji’s professional lenses are at least as good as any of them. That said, I had misgivings about the XC lenses and had avoided buying an inexpensive zoom.

The XF zooms are reported to be very good, but money is an object these days, so I held off. I recently came by an XC 15-45 “kit” lens at a price I couldn’t resist and was blown away by the performance.

In that cheap little plastic package are some of the best optics I’ve ever used, easily the equal of the Fuji XF primes. Of course, they are much slower. No f/1. 4 or f/2 maximum aperture here, not even f/2.

8. But a case could be made that with new sensors delivering good image quality at high ISO, it’s rare that an f/2 lens, let alone an f/1. 4, is even necessary. So all of that is true for this lens, too.

Cheap, plastic build, slow as molasses f/4. 5 at the short end and f/6. 7 (not even 6. 3???) at the long end. But the price is right, and unless I drop it, do I care that it is made out of plastic? The real question is: is it sharp? Well, the lens elements are glass, and very good glass at that.

Fuji knew where to cut corners (plastic and slow aperture) and where not to (optical quality). Combine that with the excellent stabilization, and you have a lightweight lens that balances nicely with and X-T or X-Pro, providing a package you can hand hold and get sharp pictures at absurdly slow shutter speeds.

If you need or want a tele zoom that you can actually carry around with you all day and that delivers sharp pictures, look no further. I ding it a star for the plastic mount, but nothing more.

Pros: The Fujifilm 56mm f1. 2 is a remarkable lens. Especially for the prices comparing to other brands. It feels solid, and does have a weight behind it which is noticeable but not a hindrance. Used on the X-Pro3, great companion.

Cons: Weather sealing would be awesome, but other than that the lens is great.

First off I’m going to say that as an XF WR lens you are getting very high quality no matter what. This lens does have some downsides, I do notice some vignetting around the edges especially at maximum zoom and there are some minor sharpness issues throughout.

That’s not the reason you should buy this lens. if you want sharp as attack zoom you’ve gotta go for fuji’s telephoto f/2. 8. Hands down the best. If you want a zoom for professional use, the 16-55 f/2.

8 has you covered. This is the lens that I slap on my camera when I am just going out somewhere and I am taking photos for me or if I’m doing a minor event shoot where the photos are going on a website, in the paper, or social media and I need maximum versatility.

I far prefer some of the majestic shots that come out of my primes but at the end of the day I prefer practicality if it’s not a professional shoot. It’s a 27 to 206mm FF equivalent lens with great build quality and weather resistance.

For the price you’re not going to find a more versatile lens out there.

I’m a professional photographer and photo educator. I purchased this after drowning my 18-55 f2. 8/4 lens in a bit of a canoe mishap. I decided to chance this lens to gain more reach in an all-in-one zoom; the 18-55 (one of the best kit lenses ever designed) just never had enough reach for me.

I bought this lens used on Ebay and crossed my fingers. I just processed my first set of images with this lens. some test shots at both ends of 18 & 135mm using a range of f-stops. This lens is sharp! I’m not a pixel peeper.

I’m a pro who knows what I want out of my glass. This lens fits the bill and exceeds my expectations. It’s a bit slow on follow focus at 8 fps. so I need to play with my AF settings. However, I’m very, very impressed with the sharpness! Build is everything I’ve come to expect in Fujinon lenses.

If you’re looking for a versatile zoom range and can handle the variable aperture this lens is for you. A note about the weight. I was concerned with the size/weight of it. Then I picked up my D750 body with no lens on it and the X-Pro 2 and lens were STILL lighter! Photo samples are outta da Fuji with only noise reduction applied.

Bass guitar (135mm, ISO 6400, 1/35th, f11) and African Violoet (1/50 @ f8).

I own almost every Fuji lens for the X-mount system and this is one I was determined never to purchase, considering that I almost never use my 18-55 zoom and consider the 16-55 as a benchmark. I finally decided to get this superzoom as a backup (a kind of security blanket when I intend to go out with a single prime lens but want a do-it-all secondary lens just in case).

Well, I’m really impressed with the image quality all across the focal range with this zoom. I would not hesitate to use this lens even as a primary lens when I am uncertain about what focal length I was to use on a given outing.

Perhaps I wouldn’t be as happy if I was into pixel peeping, but that’s just not what I do. The main limitation is that it’s difficult to get a shallow depth of field, but that is unavoidable with a superzoom, especially one this light and compact.

My only complaint is that the zoom ring gets tight at long focal lengths, which is not confidence inspiring. In this sense, the build quality is perhaps somewhat questionable. But it doesn’t detract from image quality, at leas on my copy.

In short, this lens should serve its backup purpose well and, thus, allow me to use prime lenses and carry only few of them at any time. Highly recommended.

This lens takes gorgeous surreal ethereal photos and video. Almost a tilt-shift quality. While not a sharp lens, its softness is very artistic. The donut-shaped bokeh gives the photo a surreal quality.

It is extremely compact for so much zoom. Videos are gorgeous due to the immense compression and surreal depth of field. Note it is quite shaky even on the body-stabilised Olympus e-m5 mk ii so a tripod or steady surface is recommended, especially in low light because the fixed aperture means you may have limited scope to up the shutter speed (though shooting at 1/640 on a cloudy day was fine, and I find it is beautiful at slightly reduced exposure, adding to the ethereal effect).

Cant recommend it enough for art-shooters. Only thing Ive found is the camera wont apply focus peaking so I use magnification, but it is very shaky handheld. But got some beautiful shots. Focus ring is very smooth with perfect resistance and accurate response.

It does rotate though so CPL filters might be a pain. But no complaints. Exceptional value.

I like Rokinon lenses and I needed a wide-angle, so I ordered this one. I was at first a little dismayed when I saw marks on the glass when I opened it, but it seemed to be okay. I used it for one shoot and liked how it looked on camera.

It feels heavy in your hand and overall a solid lens. However, after an 8 hour shoot, I noticed it was a little dirty, and I used proper lens cleaning liquid and cloth to wipe it off, and noticed a small smudge on the lens.

I was the only one who handled it and I am usually really careful with my lenses, but this sat in a chair for a couple hours. I have no idea how that smudge got there. I am unsure if it was like that when I received it, otherwise I’d absolutely return.

It doesn’t seem to impact the shots since it’s a wide angle, and focuses in the distance, but I am overall feeling very upset that my brand new lens has a spot. I am just going to be extra careful with this lens.

It’s apparently easy to scratch.
