20 Best Leggings For Winter Running (2023 Updated)

I love everything about these. I usually wear a small/ medium, depending on the brand, I have both in this style, and small is perfect, but medium certainly doesn’t look sloppy. I would say the material is a little more forgiving than my RBX Super Soft Camo’s.

I love the pockets, the high waistband helps with warmth, and the length is good. I’m 5’2″, they’re long on me but surprisingly not bulky for an insulated material. The material is sleek, and the fur from wool sweaters, or my lined boots, doesn’t stick.

I have all the colors now. Very happy with these!.

I love that the waistband doesn’t have a lip, it’s flattering and doesn’t leave an imprint on my skin. It does require pulling it up a little more often but I prefer that to having a tight waistband that squeezes me.

The material is like a second skin almost, very form fitting and soft. I found a pair of these at Ross and loved it so much I looked it up online and ordered another pair. These are my go to leggings now.

Pocket is a nice plus. I’m 5’1″, 130lbs, athletic build and the medium fits me perfectly.

This is the second winter I’ve purchased these. The fit is superb with the gussetted/triangle patch in the crotch which increases comfort and wearing ease. The high waist is far more comfortable than a mid rise fit.

Please dont change the sizing and fit! I would like to see the same style and fit in a heavier fleece for the really cold weather we get in north east Washington without sacrificing the fit of the lighter fleece model.

The lighter weight ones i can wear comfortably in 40 degree weather, but need something heavier when temps dip to the 20s and below.

Was looking for a thicker or warmer legging for cold walks and hikes with my dog and football tailgates. These are a great affordable pair. Inside liner is a soft fleece and the outside is a smooth performance legging (not cotton feel more like a slick scuba feel) they are long as some others have mentioned, I am 5’4” and I have to really pull them up or fold on the bottom.

The large is not tight on me so might have gotten away with medium but I’ll be recording in large for my second pair anyway. 5’4” 180lbs.

So I bought these in ruby port and I had no issue with fit. Super comfy and the fleece lining is so soft without being too heavy. The length of the leggings is long, which I like. The second pair I bought was in deep jade and even though I bought the exact same size, the fit was tighter, especially around the crotch.

I ended up returning the deep jade. For reference, I’m 5’5, 140lbs and purchased a size S. I also noticed that the stitching on both leggings is a little sloppy in some spots. Nothing major though. Overall, the leggings themselves are really nice and the material is good quality.

Soft, thick, fleecy, stretchy. Slightly tight due to the lining but still acceptable within the size. Might order more for winter. The legs are a bit long but I am only 5’4”. I would estimate a 30” inseam which is a bit long for a legging, but it’s ok.

I tried the polar flex legging which sucked—this one is better. The polar has pockets though and this one doesn’t.

I have to give one star as the sizing is way off! I ordered a small and a medium. The small I could not even try as too small. The medium was almost just as tight. I could get them on but so uncomfortable.

Too tight across my hips. I am 5’5 and weigh 120 pounds. Very frustrated as I have now tried 3 different brands of winter tights and all the same problem? I even tried a pair of large in person when I went into the store to do returns and of could they were too big.

Sales clerk said they have seen alot of issues with sizing. Very poor quality control. I ended up with no new tights. Maybe next year, if they fix this problem. The material felt great. Just too small, I have not had this issue with my other winter tights or Capri styles.

I can not comment on the warmth as could not wear.

I really like the look and material of this tight and the reflective strips. They run very, very tight though. I have no idea why a drawstring waist was included as the fit is so tight it is a challenge to get over my hips and I’m not a curvy person.

As a short-legged 5’3” and 105 lbs, the length is just right. I would have considered a medium but only in-store as I predict that the fit would still be too snug and then I’d have extra leg length to deal with.

My iPhone does not feel secure enough in the back pocket. I wondered if a deeper pocket or a deep side pocket would have been better.

These are my favorite winter tights, they are very comfortable and soft. The lacing at the waist ensures that the trousers stay in place. Very nice design, and good with reflectors. The tights are lined and the wind does not blow through (as it can with some tights).

Good length in the legs, half-length socks are enough to prevent a slip between socks and tights.

I am used to wearing compression stockings from a medical supply store for venous insufficiency that are quite an ordeal to put on but these pants surprisingly weren’t too bad even though I ordered a size down.

I used them for yoga and they seemed to help, definitely not as dizzy/lightheaded and felt my legs were capable of more than normal in terms of holding stances. I will have to see how they are when I use them again, they held odor pretty quickly for me personally so I had to wash them after one wear (albeit all day and for a workout) but I’m fairly used to that because I sweat a lot.

I like that there’s some breathability in the fabric around the crotch and buttocks & they don’t cling as much, however I’m not sure if that means it’s not compressive there? In any case, I’ll be purchasing more since they faired pretty well in comparison to the ones that were $140 from another online retailer.

I can’t say they feel like the same compression as the medical stockings but for the price and convenience, I think these are worth it for days when I don’t want to wear two layers of pants. Also, pockets! And soft.

I did a bit of searching online for compression tights. I’ve tried a lot of brands and finally stumbled on CompressionZ. I really love these. The compression is better and noticeable compared to others that I own.

I wear them for workout (I weight lift) but I’m also a professional lumberjill athlete. I’ve taken to putting these on after competing to help with muscle recovery. I would definitely recommend these leggings.

They’re a decent price for good compression. I’m 5’7″, 180 lbs and went with a large. The fit is nearly perfect for me.

These are really comfortable! The fabric is soft. The mid-rise waist comes right at my belly button (I’m 5’1″ and have a short torso more than short legs) so this is a perfect fit for me. The full leg length is just right for my 30″ inseam.

I didn’t realize from the product description that there was a little zipped pocked in the back of the waist band, that was a fun surprise. I’d love to see them with a thigh pocket for a mobile phone.

If you want a true compression feel, consider ordering a size smaller than normal. Comparable to the Under Armour and Zyka leggings that I already had, and a much better value! I will be ordering them again in other colors as they are available.

I had emailed with fit questions and the response was fast, friendly, helpful. I am impressed with this company and will support them with my athletic wear shopping again!.

My wife is the most cold natured person I know. She’s also the most thrifty person I know and she often buys “cheap”. She is planning a trip to New York City with our daughters and she wanted thermal leggings that were thin, comfortable, and warm outside, but could be worn indoors throughout the day without being unbearably hot indoors.

I own a pair of Icebreaker 200 Oasis for Men (as well as tops) and I live in them in the winter. I ordered her a pair of the 200 Oasis Leggings and she couldn’t believe how comfortable they are. Thin enough to be worn under her clothes unlike her older, bulky counterparts.

Sufficiently warm outside in the cold elements and comfortably “toasty” indoors. She loves how comfortable they are! Happy wife. Happy life. She deserves the best, that’s why I got her Icebreakers.

We’ve tried so many brands of Merino base layers and these are our favourites! I haven’t noticed any shrinkage after washing. These base layers are fitted, while being slightly stretchier than leggings from Wee Woollies and Iksplor.

This makes them more comfortable for our toddler to wear under her winter clothes or as pyjamas when camping. Durability seems a lot better too. These don’t develop small holes from rough play like we’ve seen with other leggings.

They are also just as warm, but thinner and less bulky than HH base layers. That makes them easy to layer under other winter layers without any complaints from our toddler.

I have a large range of merino base layers and it’s difficult to find the heavier weight ones. These are silky a wonderful on…that said they are cut strangely tight in the calves and large in the hips and butt.

Also, the inseam is shorter than I expected (closer to the video than the model pictures) I have a size small and my hips are ~40 inches. Once these warm up there is at least an extra inch in the bit and thighs, and as the calves are tight (my calves are just shy of 15 inches) the legging pulls down throughout the day even though the waistband fits as per the size chart.

The upside is they remain comfortable and this isn’t an issue when worn as a base layer. However, the crotch-sagging IMO would make them impossible to wear as leggings on their own. (Plus people with regular to small hips would likely be unable to keep them up).

There are reviews that reference seams splitting, and I actually tried on a pair of these tights at the garage sale and they had a split in the front calf diagonal seam. The leggings I received are different than these photos, so I think the design has been improved.

They have cuffs at the ankle and they do not have the diagonal seams at all. So far, so good! The size small is not extremely tight (I’m 5′, 118-120 range, and athletic/curvy) and definitely not compressive on me.

The drawstring kept them up at my waist but I was worried they might slip down.

This was my first pair of Brooks tights, I’m a bigtime Nike fan but these are next level. First off, three pockets – two side saddle pockets and one on the lower back that also has a top flap so things like your keys or phone don’t feel like they are going to fly out; a hidden drawstring design; and the pants are also cuffed at the ankle which makes me feel like I could wear lower socks and still keep warm.

The material is thick but lightweight and they are very cutttte.

I’ve had these thermal tights for over a year now and use them regularly! During the cold winter months in Alaska, these are the best for running outdoors. The high waste ensures they fit comfortably during long and short runs.

During the summer, they’re perfect for wearing casually. The pockets are a bonus. They do tend to run a bit on the smaller side and have held their shape well.

These Tights Long have a great design & feel to them. I wore first on a 6 mile winter day right out of the box and they felt great & looked great. Just a few items of notes: These are not compression tights even though they are tights.

I ordered size ‘S’ and could have easily worn a size ‘XS’ if one was available, and secondly, the zippered ankle, which is alway a great feature to me, expands the foot-hole only slightly. Care should be taken when sliding your feet & heel through this, and thirdly, there is an adjustable waistband/drawstring but it is a continuous drawstring meaning they are not like traditional drawstrings that have two ends to tie together.

Good luck in figuring out to cinch the drawstring without stressing the inner fabric and making the waist taut to your preference. I pulled the stretchy drawstring out as far as possible and cut with a pair of scissors to make two ends.

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this method. So all-in-all, I would recommend these.

These were about 7/8 length on me and I couldn’t zip the bottom. Returned for being too short and tight at the calves, but they are a nice style. Quite thin, so not the tights you want if you are looking for any winter warmth.

I am a small in Arcteryx, Patagonia, and other On pants so felt these ran small.

These look and feel nice for daily wear however, especially for the price, for me, were not great The waistband loosened within just a few wears meaning they’re no good for running as they slip too much.

Far too expensive for what they are. Plenty of nikes are half the price and do a better job tbh.

It was ordered for my neighbour. She says it’s an excellent product.

Just received these last week. I have never written a review for anything before. but these leggings are great! My favorite leggings in the past were Lucy, but they went out of business and I have been searching for great leggings ever since.

So many leggings these days are high waist and they don’t work for me. These truly are perfect. Not too high, not too low. No sagging. Great pockets on sides which actually fit my phone. I am 5’3″ and weigh 138lbs and the size large is perfect! Wish they had more colors, I would buy them all! Also, such a great price!!!!.

These were a Christmas gift from my parents as I mentioned I needed some warmer clothes for running. Not sure how well they will do in temps below freezing, but I run hot and was comfy in them in 35 degrees.

They’re also extremely comfy and have pockets. I have a size small and they are a little big in the waist, they have a tendency to pull down a little with my phone in my pocket. I’m 5’7 and tend to have difficulty finding leggings that don’t stop above my ankles.

These bunch a tiny bit at the bottom, so for someone who is tall they should be pretty full length! Great por of leggings for the price!.

These are by far the best cold weather compression tights available. I own many pairs-they are now the only tights I wear for running from Fall through Spring. They look great, are warm and provide great support to leg muscles and have held up extremely well through multiple years of washing.

I spend a lot of time in leggings and wanted some warmer ones for the winter. I already own the Acai thermal skinny trousers but don’t find them as comfortable as leggings, plus they’re a bit too warm for the temperatures here most of the time.

These leggings are noticeably warmer than regular leggings, while still retaining the feel of a normal athletic legging. Because the material is designed for additional warmth, they don’t have the super-sleek appearance you might be used to, but feel well-made and substantial.

I find the regular length about right for my 5’3 frame, but do find that the ankles gape slightly, something ai’ve also noted with my thermal skinnies. The extra-wide super-snug waistband is just that, but also has a tendency to gape after wearing for a while.

I’m not at all sold on the pocket. I tried walking with my phone in it and found it uncomfortable, plus you get a rather daft-looking bulge on your leg. My feeling is that the pocket is fine for your shopping list, a credit card, or perhaps a flat key, but I wouldn’t go for much else in there.

A mixed bag over all, but I’m glad to have them and will be getting plenty of wear out of these leggings this winter.

These are really comfortable and are the right length for me. I like the fabric as it’s really soft. The pocket is convenient perhaps for a key whilst outdoors but not big enough for my fone but that’s not an issue for me.

I wore them on a cold day recently when dog walking and to be honest I was disappointed as my thighs were still cold even to the point that when I came home and took them off my skin was very cool. My lower leg was warmer as I had wellies and boot socks on.

I had bought them precisely for dog walking/outdoor activity in the winter so this was disappointing as I expected to be warmer but I felt like I had normal leggings on. A lot of money for something to not meet the purpose! I have kept them as I wasn’t sure if I could send them back after wearing once but I definitely won’t buy again.

I will spend half the price in the local ‘Go Outdoors’ shop and get thermal outdoor leggings that keep me warm in all weathers. Shame as they are a nice fit.

These were such a good purchase. The initial cost might seem pricey but they are well worth the money. I wear them almost everyday. They are very comfortable, warm, and go with everything. Leggings can sometimes become see-through when bending down but these are completely opaque.

I tend to wear a size 10 on the waist and 12 on the hips. I ordered these in a 10 and they fit perfectly. The fabric is stretchy enough to go over my hips without being too tight. Would definitely recommend them for anyone who has to spend time outdoors!.

I have thicker thighs and butt than maybe the rest of me, and I adore how these pants make me feel and look more confident. The waist smooths out the transitions between my legs and tummy. Speaking of smooth, the fabric is so SOFT! I expect soft fabrics to be thick and add thickness, but these do not! The solid fabric makes me feel contained and fully secure, even while being supple and sleek.

I have these in black and they are my favorite pants; this color, feels even softer. The only drawback is you may see a bit more of a panty line depending on what underwear you wear (can’t see it with the black).

Oh! And GREAT pockets; they are the right depth for my phone in its case AND perfectly positioned so that it sits flat on my thigh even while moving and sitting. This fabric does not hold moisture and wicks well; I do not feel uncomfortably wet even after sweating.

They make great workout or work/dress pants.

I normally range between medium and small sizes…these are such amazing and comfortable leggings I’m inlove!! they are like lulu just so much more affordable. one thing I found is that these were a bit on the tighter side.

I could fit into the medium but they might’ve been a little big. I like when my leggings are tight though because it doesn’t leave any excess fabric. over all rlly love these and would defiantly recommend to anyone who is a big lulu lover! will be buying more for sure.

These are my most favourite leggings from this company. I love the high waisted fit, the seam along the belly draws less attention to your stomach, the fit is great (5’8 170LBS size medium), the fabric is amazing and comfortable and squat proof.

If you are purchasing for the first time from this company, I would start with these guys. They aren’t flashy but they are super comfortable and great for working out in.

I bought this right before my NYC Christmas trip for the cold and am so glad I did, it kept my legs warm and toasty! That said, be aware that this legging runs small — I am a size 6 in Lululemon and the small is still too small for me for reference.

Also, as another reviewer noted, the butt seam is at such an awkward location and cuts your butt in half, it’s not uncomfortable but definitely took a few wears to get used to. The tip is to pull the legging up high….

I ordered 2 sizes, medium and large as I had read this tight runs small. It does. I have a previous season midzero in a medium and this pair of mediums was entirely too small and tight. The large fit better, more like my other medium pair of midzero tights.

But I sent both back because the ankle on the left leg was huge. And not a the opening, above the opening making a ridiculous poofiness around my ankle. Not only is it ugly but I want my tights snug around my ankle for warmth.

And it’s not because I have a freakishly skinny left ankle. And even if I did, I should still not have that much excess fabric. Too bad. I love my other pair of Sugoi tights and wanted a second pair but these are poorly constructed.

These tights are excellent for winter running, but beware that they run VERY small. I am normally a size 6, pants size 29-31 (5’4″, 135 lbs) and ordered a medium, which barely got above my thighs. The large fits me much better and I’m so glad it does because the tights are perfect for Chicago winter running, but if you are any size larger than an 8 or 10, I’m sorry to give you the news that Sugoi has decided not to make clothes that will fit you.

The crops fit true to size. The fabric is buttery soft which is great! However, I was hoping that these would be the same or very similar to a pair of running crops that I had purchased a couple of years back with the same material.

However, the seams on these crops are more rough and I can feel it as soon as I put them on and continued to feel the rough seams after my run. The pockets at the waist and the side pockets on the thighs are a lot looser also, so my phone bounced up and down a bit in the side/thigh pocket, which was a little bit uncomfortable, and my keys and remote (I live in a gated community – the remote is very small; 1.

5 inch x 1. 5 inch) kept moving back and forth in the pockets at the waist. My previous crops were tighter (same size 4), and the pockets held phones, keys, remotes much better that there was no movement of these things in any of the pockets and I never felt them or felt that they were in my way or even aware of them when I run.

With these new crops, I definitely could feel them and it was not very comfortable. So overall, I gave it 3 stars, because of the pockets being too loose, and the seams being rough. I commented to my husband that I hope Lululemon’s quality isn’t going downhill, as I feel that I do prefer many of the items from years ago.

I never felt any of the seams from any of the other running crops I’d bought from Lululemon (and I’ve got quite a few); this is the very first one that I’ve had this experience. As far as the pockets go, I always to go Lululemon’s running gear because of their thoughtful design on the pockets and how things fit in them.

But for both of these items, this crop was a disappointment. I do hope that Lululemon will work on these two things- and if they are able to improve, then this crop would be a 5 star!.

Very disappointing. Long gone are the days when lululemon made high quality, uniquely feminine, wonderfully functional running gear. These are low quality run of the mill pants with little compression.

I DO like the lack of inseam for comfort. The lack of gel pockets and side pockets render these sit-around-pants rather than running tights. The back pocket is pretty much useless because it is difficult to reach and i get a bruise whenever I run long distance with anything in any of lulu‘s back pockets.

They run true to size. They are mostly comfortable, but the lack of compression makes them less flattering than most lulu pants. Not worth full price.

I bought these fleece tights for cold-weather running, and they perform well for that purpose. They are warmer than regular leggings, I appreciate the high-rise and the lack of seams on the inner thigh.

I wish there was a phone pocket on the thigh. The seam on the back does not flatter my body. The gusset shape and position is strange and seems to be placed too far forward or something… my tights are the berry color, and the gusset just seems very visible or prominent, and in an area I’m not trying to highlight.

I would buy these tights again, but while I love the bright pink color, black would probably be more flattering because of the unique seam placement.
