20 Best Leg Machine For Home (2023 Updated)

I started my home gym since the pandemic hit and the one machine I thought I would have to go without was the leg press. I saw the Vertical Leg Press by Titan on Amazon and as I read the reviews, one said to buy it straight from the Titan web site because it was on sale.

At the time the price was even less than what was mentioned in the Amazon review. Shipping was fast and it just so happen to arrive on Leg Day. I put it together as quick as I could so that I could finish off my workout with it.

I read the reviews here on the website and knew I had to download the instructions. My only issue was attaching the weight plate holder. After contacting Titans customer service I was told to take off the uprights arms and attach the weight plate holder to the uprights arms first and then attach the uprights arms to the body of the machine.

WHALAH! It worked like charm. I already had some silicone lubricant that I use for my treadmill in the house. I oiled the upright poles and loaded it with 2 x 45lb plates to see how well it would glide and how sturdy it was, and I can honestly say it glides as smooth as butter! My home gym was missing a key piece of equipment but not anymore.

I put 180lbs on it and only experienced very little wobble. I love this well built Vertical Leg Press. Might I add that Titans customer service is hands down the best there is. Thank you for being so nice and for making such a quality piece of gym equipment.

I ordered and received the vertical leg press machine around 2 months ago. The assembly instructions weren’t the best, but I was able to put it together successfully. I have been lifting weights for around 50 years.

For a person my age or to be truthful any age I’ve managed to look and stay in good shape, even with a few non- workout related injuries. I stopped going to the gym after my gym closed due to the virus and did not return when they re-opened and the variant came on the seen.

I turned my smallest bedroom/ office into a workout room. I bought a cheap pair of squat stands, had a few kettlebells, FID bench, and bought the Titan adjustable dumbbells and started working out at home.

So, I had a poorly constructed squat stand in a small room and, at the same time very limited in exercises for my legs. First off after several near disasters with cheap stands, I bought the Titan T-3 squat stands w chin up bar, and I love it.

Secondly, I bought the vertical leg press machine and it has been a very welcome addition to my small gym. It doesn’t take up much space(probably less than the squat stands)and neither do the T-3 stands, which if necessary you can place against the wall, when more space is needed.

The leg press can be placed close to the wall, but needs at least a few inches, due to the fact that it will wobble. The wobble does not affect the workout. You can go heavy. I need more 45lb plates I currently only have 10 plates.

You can use it for calf raises, which is great when there’s limited space. You can be creative and get that pump. Try maxing out heavy then doing partial movements or half movements until you get that burn, or start off or finish with single leg press.

Well, let me wrapped this review up by saying it’s a great addition to my gym. It’s sturdy(except the wobble), it’s space saving, it takes a lot of weight. The only real negative for me is putting the pin in place when the reps are completed, especially when you maxed out and your quads are burning.

But, even if the pins don’t go in you can rack you weights, it will just be lower than desired. Also, if you need to save space , need stability, the ability to do heavy squats, bench presses, and military press, checkout the T-3 squat stands.

I really like this leg press alot. The build quality is great, assembly was easy, and I’m really enjoying adding some variety on leg day. There are 2 caveats I have with the leg press (hence the 4/5).

The first is the foot plate is too small. You can not press up with your entire foot. You have to either press from your toes or your heels. The second gripe is the lack of pin holes and distance between them to adjust the height.

For me, the lowest pin is still too high and doesn’t provide enough rom. With no pins the starting position is too low and is really hard to get in a starting position. Also forget about taking the pins in/out during the exercise.

Impractical with hundreds of pounds over you.

I shopped long and hard for a versatile gym system compact enough to fit in our garage that had enough weight to ensure I could progressively increase the intensity of my workouts. The PX2 is extremely well-engineered and functional.

Moving through a workout is easy, adjusting the seat, back pad and arms is quick and intuitive. I can pop into the garage, bang out 3 sets each of 11 exercises in 90 minutes, and head inside for dinner.

I can also head down between Zoom meetings to get the blood flowing back to my head. No time wasted traveling to a gym, or waiting for machines to open up while lollygaggers socialize. Very satisfied with the purchase.

I wanted to switch from an old power cage using weight plates to a stack weight system. The Powerline P2LPX is the perfect solution. The injuries sustained over the years limit my comfortable range of motion allowed by my joints.

Fortunately the P2LPX allows for controlled joint articulation and repetitive rep movements. The leg press really helps to control pain and injury in my failing knees. While space was not an issue for me the P2LPX does not occupy a large area, although it is over 6 ft tall.

Assembly is a time consuming project. Give yourself a day or two to complete the process. It’s not overly complicated and anyone with basic mechanical skills can accomplish the assembly process. Just be patient.

Good home gym. Installation was easy as majority of parts were assembled. It’s compact and easy to use. Our family love using this home gym!

Overall a nice machine. My only negative comment would be that the distance between the seat and the floormy idss support at the front be greater or indeed the design changed so there is nothing under the front of the seat.

My issue is, is that being 6ft 3ins tall my feet catch on the floor support when performing leg curls. Just a bit more clearance and the machine would be perfect.

The leg ext. /curl machine was a perfect fit and function for my home gym. Meaning it was not to bulky and easy to use. Was very happy with the quality of the equipment, will give many years of service.

The service at ordering time was fantastic.

I’m so glad I decided to spend a little more money than the cheapest one I found on the web. The build quality is very close to commercial equipment costing over a thousand dollars. Silky smooth. In looking at pictures, the cheaper units used thinner pieces of metal, and the weld quality looked a bit suspect.

This one uses beefy stock metal, and the welds are perfect.

Having struggled with knee pain when squatting caused by years of crossfit and mobility problems I wanted something that would allow me to lift safely and pain free with no post workout knee soreness.

I considered leg presses and hack squats but the machines were all too big for my garage gym so i gave this vertical leg press a go. I only use it for presses and calf raises but it’s absolutely brilliant, no knee pain, no spotter needed, fits nicely without taking up too much real estate and allows me to work HARD on my legs.

I did spray a generous amount of WD40 on the sliding uprights when first purchased as it was a bit stiff and squeaky, it is a little tricky to put together in places as some of the holes are not perfectly aligned and to load heavy you need to be able to lift the weight plates (which could be an issue for those not used to slinging plates around) but for me none of these are issues especially considering how much cheaper this is than the alternatives.

The only problem I can (hopefully) foresee is the load limit of 400lbs which for very serious lifters may be a little restricting, but for me at 80kg doing sets of 10, this would be a nice problem to have.

I recently purchased the vertical leg press & I’m very impressed with the overall construction of the machine. It’s fairly straightforward to put together & you can do all leg press variations plus calves.

Great addition to my home gym as it’s space saving & easy to use. The poles either side are a bit squeaky at first. I used Vaseline as well as the spray that came with it & after a while the noise stopped completely.

Fast delivery. the tracking could be better but the courier calls on arrival so can’t fault that really! Overall a great purchase & highly recommend 👍.

Very strong and sturdy leg press, assembly leaflet very clear with diagrams. Concise instructions showing correct bolts etc to fit. Big thick pad to lie on and rest head on. Although the sliding action lifting and lowering is smooth with no shuddering it does screech loudly.

I had to spray both posts with WD40 to stop the noise. The foot plate is wide enough and long enough to accommodate different foot placements. Delivery time was slower than expected, 12 working days.

I understand January is a busy month for orders but maybe using more than one courier would cut the delivery time down. Overall 8 out of 10 for price, space saving size, sturdiness and ease of use. I would recommend this product.

Machine arrived on a large truck and large pallet (4′ x 8′) in 5 separate boxes. All boxes were banded together well and secured to the pallet. I removed everything from the boxes and packaging and brought each part into the gym for assembly.

All items were packed well and clearly marked for assembly. Assembly instructions were very detailed on A4 sized sheets of paper. While assembly of some items are okay for one person, the final assembly is definitely a two-person job.

This unit is very heavy – sturdy and well made. Fortunately the main mechanism came pre-assembled. This saved some time, but it is the heaviest single item you’ll have to deal with. I think my wife and I had it all assembled in about 2 hours; including beer breaks! Now finally I have a reliable LEG routine that won’t over-exert my lumbar like squats tended to do.

Plus I can now do one-legged presses so one leg won’t over power the other – which tends to happen on the knee rehab leg – and I can keep my legs more equal on strength.

Great piece of equipment at an affordable price. This is the second leg press machine of the same type, make and model that I have purchased from FS the first lasted 10 years. I am hopeful that the 4 wheels that allow the carriage to move up and down are better quality than on the previous model – these wore unevenly and had to be replaced – cost of replacement is expensive, service dept difficult to get through to by phone and email and fitting of replacement wheels extremely difficult without assistance Self assembly requires 2 persons.

Instructions are comprehensive however some steps are difficult to follow.

For the price, this is a steal. It is very well made and sturdy for this price. It’s ideal for a typical home gym user who doesn’t abuse their equipment, although the padding/stitching might not last long in a commercial environment.

It comes almost fully assembled out of the box.

This was a fantastic deal. Havent done sissy squats before and now with this machine Im doing them every leg workout is after my squats. Great addition to my home gym. I hold a 45 pound plate across my chest and go deep.

Great burn after doing squats and no stress on my knees. Also very comfortable on the shins. Highly recommend.

I am still waiting for you to deliver the weight plates that go with this machine. I am unable to use this machine without the weights so it is very frustrating and difficult to give a review. I received an email saying the weights might not be delivered so am waiting to hear back from you.

Unfortunately due to covid19 there is an issue with your warehouse being closed down so I understand this delay is justified.

I bought this product worked really well does the job but when I went on to use heavier weight the bar which you add weight plates on started to bend it went banana shape and was not useable after. I would suggest to put a weight limit on the machine do potential customers know how much is the maximum limit to use on the machine.

Simple leg extension and hamstring curl machine. Easy to assemble. Was surprised on how solid the material is. Perfect for home gym

I really like the machine but was extremely complicated to put together even with two professional installers. One of the cables that lifts the weights was too short so the last two weights in the stack are unuseable.

Instructions are truely complicated and should not be attempted by someone who doesn’t have a week to spend scratching your head. I decided to hire two technicians who put this type of equipment together regularly and it took them over 6 hours.

So impressed with the quality of the materials. The pulleys are really great since it allows you to adjust or change it to a different angle.

I’ve wanted a calf raise machine for ages and I’m glad I bought this one. It’s very good especially considering the price. Just remember you need to also buy 25mm plate locker/clamps to hold the weight plates on safely, but they are really cheap ($12-15) and you can pick them up from most gym equipment stores.

It was easy to put together and I have no regrets in my purchase.

The construction is good quality and the price is very affordable. The only item that I was disappointed in is the fact that the seat is attached to the lever bar. The seat should be separated and supported with a bracket.

Easy to assemble. (2 adjustable grips is all you need) and doesn’t take up that much space either. 50 inch long x 18 inch wide. Had 2 heavy workouts on it so far (40kg each side) and operates great. If you’re a newbie or just looking for calf development, this is for you.

It’s as good as an expensive piece of gym equipment.

Prior to my first daughter being born 2. 5 years ago, I was a fairly active person, regularly running 25-30 miles/week and even running several ultramarathons. Strength training wasn’t a priority, but something I occasionally did.

Two kids in 2. 5 years later and I have run maybe 25-30 miles total this year, and my muscles are hidden under layers of belly fat. Finding time to work out was extremely challenging, and I have never been much for going to the gym.

I decided to invest in the Bowflex Revolution after reading quite a few reviews (it’s definitely an investment), and I can say that I am extremely pleased with my purchase! Setup took less than 3 hours (by myself), and the workout instructions are clear and easy to use.

I am currently still doing the “introductory” 20 minute workout plan as I get more comfortable with the equipment and build up strength, but I don’t feel like I am losing out on strength development by not using regular weights.

Also, I am actually motivated to get out of bed at 4:45 every morning to work out before getting the kids up for daycare. The cost is going to be a hurdle to some, but if you can afford it, or can afford to invest in it, I would absolutely recommend the Revolution to anyone looking for a do-it-all in a compact package workout machine! #sweepstakes.

I was so excited for this to arrive I took the day off work. As a disabled veteran with limitations this has changed my life. I’ve only had it less than a month and the difference in how I feel about myself and the convenience of having it in my garage make this the best new purchase of 2022 besides my new house.

I can get a full body workout in 30 to 45 minutes. I have spent some time in the gym previously so I know my way around a cable system and how to work my muscle groups. To a new comer it may seem like a lot but as with anything, the more you practice the better you become.

Don’t discourage yourself, believe in yourself and know that this piece of equipment is what you are looking for. The set up is step by step, follow the piece of paper, lay out all the boxes but keep all the stuff in the boxes.

Wait until the instruction tell you to open. Other than that, I’ve found that metal coat hooks can store the attachments on the wall. I really need the weight holder rack but I can’t afford it. Also, you can leave the weights on the bar and as long as they aren’t locked in they won’t create any resistance.

Once you get a pattern of how you work out, you can arrange and just slide and lock. The #sweepstakes win would be life changing.

Someone else reviewed this and said that it wasn’t great to have as a Power Lifter. Now, I’m a Power Lifter and have been for many years. The honest truth is that I find this machine a great piece of kit when I can’t get to the gym.

and you can really load it up as well. so long as you’ve got slim, heavy weights. because the bars on each side are only so big! I often slap 260Kg on there for a number of sets with reasonably high reps.

Whilst it wobbles a bit, so long as you have a stable technique, you’re fine. The kit is great, easy to use, easy to assmble and easy to maintain. As with any weight machines; you need to check and ensure that everything is tight each time you use it.

After all, you don’t want anything to drop off in mid-lift, especially at higher weights as that could be pretty dangerous. I’d definitely recommend this. Fits in the garage nice and easily.

So let’s cut to the chase. 1. Can you squat past parallel on this machine? With your feet flat on the floor,the answer is yes. The machine actually has two holes to choose from for the stop position in it that allows the bar to travel further if you want to deep squat.

I’m not really sure you can see that in the actual picture. You can also use that angle plate which I did but I actually prefer to stand flat-footed on the floor, it is just more comfortable for me. I am 6’1″by the way.

2. Does it totally feel the same as squatting freestyle? The answer is no. And this is my opinion. But nothing is going to be the same as a freestyle barbell squat because in the latter you have to control everything from start to finish.

That is not a dealbreaker for me because I have back issues and it’s just one less thing for me to have to worry about. 3. Does the rounded calf bar make a difference? The answer is not really, but that’s a matter of preference I have a standing calf machine that has a flat bar and to me I get a good work out either way.

It really is just a matter of preference, and your comfort level. Conclusion, Overall it’s a great machine, and it is very well made. It took me a couple workout sessions to really get the feel of it trying to squat flat-footed and also using the angled platform, After that I am pretty sure you will enjoy it.

I really like my new Body Solid Squat and Calf machine. Perfect addition to my home gym. Takes up minimal space for a leg machine. The round bar for the calf raises seems to target the entire calf muscle really well, and using the angle plate for squatting makes the quads scream.

You can also use the flat plate that rests on the floor, or like I did, I have a stepper that I can place over the flat plate on the floor that raises me up about another 6″ and allows for even deeper squats that way.

Is it as heavy as gym euipment? Well, I’ve worked out at dozens of gyms all over the country in the last 35+ years, and I can tell you that in my opinion it falls into the top 10% – 15% of what I have used in gyms.

While I don’t think it would be recommended to go crazy heavy on this machine, I would think it can handle 400 pounds easily, and probably 500 pounds safely. (I’m 53 now, so for me those super heavy days are over).

Aslo, it may be a little difficult for taller lifters. Using the machine once you’re in it wll be fine, but getting in and out of it if you’re much taller than 5′ 10″ – 6″ tall may be a tad difficult, unless you’re flexible.

I’m about 5′ 6″ tall, so no problem at all for me. All in all, it’s one heck of a nice machine for home use to get those calves and quads pumped up nicely!!.

The equipment is fine. Would’ve been better if the hip cushion rod was longer, for taller people to feel safer and ability to do proper Roman chair back extensions. Also holes for resistant bands should be bigger for higher resistant (thicker) bands.

Last item is the pin that holds the rod should be thicker, giving more safety and sturdy feeling to that portion when doing back extensions. Worried when I’m doing the extensions with or without weight that it will give out and break and I’ll get hurt.

Hasn’t happened but the psychological thoughts prevent me from feeling safe and doing heavier weights.

Good for the money. Obviously as a budget product it is not super sturdy but is plenty sturdy enough. The pads are not super thick but they provide adequate cushioning

First off, I really do like the BowFlex PR3000. It’s extremely versatile, easy to use, and very smooth in operation. I really love the fact that I can do many different exercises without having to reset the machine.

Now the bad news. BowFlex support is terrible! I’ve had to call them 4 to 5 times and each and every time I was placed on hold for almost an hour while waiting to talk with a live person. E-mail is almost as bad.

I had issues while doing the assembly of the machine, see the first pic that I attached. Once the base is assembled and the bolts tightened the results are as you see. One leg of the base doesn’t touch the floor.

It’s not my floor as I tried it in another location, same result. I did assemble the machine as is and it does work, after adding a piece of wood under the leg. A costly piece of equipment such as this shouldn’t have to have this done.

I believe that the welds for the brackets were done incorrectly. My second problem is with the height of the PR3000. See the second pic. Before buying I did a bunch of online research. Everywhere that I looked the height was stated as being 82 inches.

I even asked the BowFlex rep what the height was, she told me 82″. I explained to the rep that the ceiling of my basement gym is 82. 5 inches, so the height was a big concern for me. She again stated that the height is 82″.

I wasn’t too happy to discover that the true height of the assembled machine is 83. 5″. As you can see, I had to remove ceiling tiles to make it work. I brought these issues to the attention of two different BowFlex reps.

I sent email along with pics of the issues to them. They replied to me but completely ignored the issues, totally blowing me off. Now I can’t even get them to reply to me. I’m sure that they are hoping that I be quiet and go away, I’m not.

I don’t expect a miracle, or to have my machine replaced. But I don’t expect to be blown off and ignored either.

I debated for a long time trying to decide what type of home gym I wanted to put into my home during the COVID epidemic. I have used commercial gyms for a long time to keep in shape and to complement my running and golf habits.

I wasn’t sure if I would like the bowflex power rods vs weights but have been pleasantly suprised! First, the delivery and set up was incredibly easy and well mapped out. The parts were all clean and free of grease so I did not make a mess of the carpet.

The instructions and packaging were the best I have ever seen and believe me, I have put together a bunch of home projects for our kids, etc. The unit itself is amazing and really allows for working out any muscle group that you want.

They describe 75 exercises but really the number is unlimited if you are creative. What I like is the circuit training feel to the apparatus. You can go from quads to Lats to chest and back again in a circuit until you are done.

Just amazing. It does take time to figure out how to get it set up properly and what “weights” you want to use. I combine this with free weights and a sit up / weight bench and am very happy. I get a great workout and the power rods seem to be a little easier on the joints and tendons.

The only downside would be the crunch apparatus which I don’t care for but I don’t really like the ones in the gym either. Also the preacher curl device is a little awkward to set up and use but is still a good device.

All in all A++. I am extremely happy with the purchase and feel that it is well worth the money and is incredibly well engineered. #sweepstakes.

Delivered in time as promised. Product was well packaged and when actually seeing how many individual parts there are to assemble, it can seem a daunting task. Fear not, instructions are very clear, parts are packaged separately for each step and labelled step 1, step 2, etc.

You will need to allocate around 6 hours, and don’t rush ahead, step by step. One piece of advice, there are some clearer assembly diagrams at the back of the book for the more detailed parts. This is a seriously well built and well designed piece of kit and the assembly instructions for something built from so many parts are a credit to Body-Solid.

Can’t recommend Fitness Superstore and this gym highly enough, you won’t be disappointed. Lastly, a special shout out for Karl who we dealt with.

I currently own one of these. The correct Model name is the Body Solid exm 1550 LPS. This model has been discontinued now, but there are some wonderful bargains on these in used condition, out there, now.

Previously I owned a Body Solid exm 3000 LPS. This one ( the 1550 ) is a little more limited in its stations compared to the 3000, but it has some great features like that Biangular arm Chest Press Shoulder station, that is wonderful very natural in its movement, giving you 25% more work on your arms and shoulders for the same movement as on the conventional arm press stations.

To me the seated Leg Extension feels easier on the legs than the same station on the exm 3000, which is slightly different in its engineering and construction. The Leg Press station is a very smooth station, and did you know that by using the lower part of the pedals with your toes and the balls of your feet you are doing a Toe Raise? The machine is very easy to use, very smooth and quiet in its operation, I suggest oiling it about once a month.

It is simple and effective, easy to get in and out of, doesn’t take up a lot of room, looks attractive and has about 20 exercise movements you can do on it. I am very happy with mine! Sorry that I can’t add photos at this time.

I purchased the G1S on Sam’s Club’s website after looking at several other home gyms on other sites. The G1S is made by Body Solid, so I went onto their website and was very impressed by the quality of the equipment they had to offer, they make commercial work out equipment, as well as home gyms and accessories.

The gym arrived in several boxes on a pallet via ups freight about 10 days after ordering. (the driver had a pallet jack and was able to wheel it right into my garage) Everything was packed very well and the quality of the parts was impressive, mostly high quality steel, the only plastic I can think of are the caps that snap into the holes at the ends of the steel square tubes that make up the frame.

The seat, backrest and tubular cushions for your legs are very good quality. The instructions were very clear and everything fit together nice and tight. It took about 8 hours to assemble but was very much worth the effort, it was actually kind of fun.

The fasteners are separated in small bags and labeled for each step. Allen wrenches are provided, however, I would recommend having a rubber mallet for the end caps, a socket set for the nuts and bolts and a tape measure for the cables, as there are 4 cables of different lengths and you will need to install them in the correct order.

Just take your time and use a little common sense and it will all come together just fine. When I completed the assembly there were no parts left over. HINT: You will need to fine adjust the cable tension in 1 of 3 ways as described in the instructions.

There is a double pulley with 4 bolt holes on each end, I installed the bolts in the 2nd hole from the end on both ends of the pulley and the tension was perfect. (you will understand what I mean when you get there) The machine is awesome and I can tell it will last a lifetime.

I LOVE IT !!! One more thing, one of the tubular leg cushions was slightly deformed (nothing big) and I was a little tired and installed the weight #’s that label the steel weight plates backwards (160lbs to 10lbs instead of the other way around) Duh!!! I called Body Solid customer service and they sent new ones with no questions asked.

Rock solid machine with a very reasonable price tag: I use it on a daily basis for my quads and hamstrings. Overall, a very positive purchase. Just a few negatives: the seat covering is very cheap faux leather.

a flaky laminate, so I know someday, I will have to re-upholster the seats with a quality material. Also the directions are scattered; the assembly is not in any coherent order, and there are a few omissions.

However I put it together within 2 hours.

For the price, you won’t find a better addition to your home gym for a leg curl/leg extension machine. Solidly built, well designed and easy to assemble. I’ve seen comparable items online for twice this price.

This item is great for the price. The leather might be a little cheap but what can you expect for the price. Although it a little better than what i expected. Love it. Jeff

I’ve been using this for about a month and so far so good. First off the boxing and packaging was very good compared to other equipment I’ve purchased (I won’t name a brand but it starts with a T). I’m used to building things so the instructions were fine for me, but I can see where they might be lacking for many people.

I liked the way each page of the manual was a “step” and all bolts, washers, and nuts were grouped and numbered for each step. Using both the hack squat and leg press have been very good. I’m 6′ tall and can get full depth for both movements.

The action is smooth. I did have to experiment with the angle of the foot plates (and back plate when doing leg press) and also foot placement on the plates, but once I found the sweet spot for all of that, it’s been great.

I will try to come back and give another review after maybe six months or so of use.

Overall it’s a great machine: sturdy, clean, easy to use with a fairly small footprint, which we need in a Manhattan gym. The one criticism I have is that shorter people can’t hack squat to depth. I’m 6’2” and can only just reach parallel before I hit the safety at its lowest setting.

To reach depth a shorter lifter, and really anyone, needs to stack mats as “boosters” on the platform. Not a huge problem but would be good to know prior to purchasing. It would also be great if the people at force came up with a factory solution to deal with this so we don’t have to hack it.

Waited a while to get it since I had to make some room for it first , bought it to replace a vertical leg press machine I bought when nothing else was available. Delivery was perfect , ordered on a monday received the following monday , intact packaging.

Love how smooth it is tho I was worried about it using rollers to slide. The stopper right infront of the seat is too high (for me) even when closed or at the lowest level (Im 5’3) so I just took it out , other than that everything is great.

Love the band pegs I use em to warm up with no weights on just to get my legs ready. The padding is really thick & comfortable. Assembly was easy , thanks to the clear instructions & numbered bolt packages it took us (hubby & myself) 2+ hrs to build.
