For the money, it’s a good product. The lights are bright, but plan on anything that is not directly underneath the light to be in the shade. As with most LED reef lights, the spread is narrow. The remote is easy to use and program.

I also have a set of Popbloom reef lights that are a couple of years old that came with wired controllers. Compared to those, this remote control is a bit less customizable, but still works good. The one thing I miss is controlling the percentage of each spectrum.

You can control each spectrum on the remote, but you just have to eyeball the levels. The arm bracket is sturdy and this package came with the arm. Looking online, I can’t believe they charge almost $50 for this piece.

It’s sturdy, but not platinum! As far as the tank life, my pulsing Xenias, frogspawns, mushrooms, kenya trees, and even aiptasias seem happy. My red gracilaria has shown improved growth.

The controller and expand-ability of this light makes it a great budget buy. We really like the lunar cycle feature of this, it is something we have always wanted and could not find in main brand features.

Some others have said that the lunar is too dim or green. It only used the center 3 leds. We think it is perfect on our 20g High tank using 1 of these lights. We expect to get more of these for our other tanks.

Some of the other reviews talk about wifi and able to control with a smart phone. This is not a feature of this and they expect to have a new controller for that in the future which we will likely invest in.

Another warning is that the cord for the controller is about 12 inches. I would suggest picking up the extension. Also if you are purchasing multiple to chain together make sure you buy a standard one with a “Mid” model which has controller connections on each side.

Also there are warnings on all of the instructions that the controller must be plugged into the light prior to the light receiving power, otherwise “damage will occur. ” Other systems use the controller for power input to correct this issue.

This is not the case with this, so be warned.

Reckomenduyu light for acquisition, the result as was almost the same as under top assemblies, only need to look the size of the system and choose the desired number of planks. Low cost and cheap, no value for the money. Instructions written by someone that speaks English as a second language, very difficult to read and understand. Might have been worth the effort if the product itself was better.

Lights are not bright at all, 36 watts produces a yellow cast, light that made the entire aquarium look dingy, not a good look. The blue light onlyh (night) setting produced only enough light to let you know that a light was supposed to be on.

Will not be returning this since I destroyed the packaging, but this junk would have been over-priced at half the cost. Save your money, do not purchase. 3 Amps at 12 Volts is only 36 watts, that is nowhere near the wattage required for lighting an aquarium that is 72″ long.

The unit that I hoped to replace is 6. 6 Amps at 12 V or about 80 watts, and it looks so much better than this unit, that I am keeping it and will just trash this unit. The bitterness of poor quality lasts much longer than the sweetness of low price!.

I think it is a great light so far, but i think if you have a very deep fish tank like me, you need to pass on this light. My fish tank is 30 inches long and 24 inches deep. I think this light falls into the category of (Moderate light) It is doing great for my Rotala plants, but i think is not really that strong for my grass carpet.

I think this light would be ideal in a 30 inch to 36 inch long tank that it is not that deep. And also the reason why i give it 4 stars is because it gets a bit warm, and i have to keep a fan in the front of my tank, and that dissipates the heat.

This light looked great when first put on the aquarium, good intensity and color. Within one month LEDs started to flicker (3 at a time) and ultimately failed. This has become the normal performance of the DHL lights.

I bought four 36″ and four 48″ DHL light before I saw this failure. Presently 7 out of 8 DHL lights have failed. The one light that still works was not placed over an aquarium but used as a workbench light.

Perhaps the one watt LED drivers used in these lights can not handle even moderate levels of moisture. I have bought many other BeamsWork lights (EA, DA) over the years and have had no problem with any of them.

The DHL series is a failure and should not be used with aquariums.

I like the form factor. Very sleek, compact and solid. I like the connectivity and ease of use with the app. Its almost plug and play. I like the full spectrum leds. It can pearl your plants if added with another light.

I dont like the weak intensity of the light. Even at max, the aquarium looks like a blackwater setup. It will need another light to complete it. Almost perfect but disappointing.

I’m slowly collecting equipment for a 75gal setup, so I can’t attest to it’s effectiveness yet, but so far I am super excited to use this light! It is WAY brighter than the Finnex 24/7CC on my 25gal tank.

It is a super sleek, classy looking fixture. I also love the customization options available on the Fluval App. The fixture itself sits right on the rim of the tank- no brackets were included to hang it or raise it in any way (from what I could tell anyway).

However this shouldn’t be an issue beyond aesthetic preferences, because you can customize the brightness to make up for distance. Shipping from Petco was extremely fast. The shipping box was pretty beat up, so I took the light out right away and checked it over for any cracks or damage.

The light itself is packaged pretty well with cardboard braces- it was fine. I turned it on and changed the settings to make sure all the colors and nodes were working properly- so far so good. I keep med/high tech, heavily planted tanks.

If you’re like me and want a light that is easy to work with, has preset settings, and does a good job, I would highly recommend looking into this fixture. There are others that do a good job too- I’ve had my 24in Finnex 24/7CC for probably 8 years now and it’s a great light too.

I can’t get the colors out of my plants that I would like or lush “carpets” though, so wanted something with more intensity this time around.

Shipping was fast and with a 20% off coupon, the cost was comparable to the Finnex planted plus 24/7. This light is supposedly waterproof with a much better warranty so that seemed like a good deal! I’m still waiting for several components to arrive from other online retailers in order to get my tank up and running so I cannot comment on plant growth.

The light spread seems quite narrow as it sits so close to the tank but my husband loves the low profile of the light, itself. Regarding the customizability, there is no limit to how you set the lighting schedules with the “pro mode.

” Of course there also isnt any guidance as to what types of changes may effect plant/algea growth. In addition, the color saturation is much more “sterile” and lacks the warmth of the Finnex planted + 24/7.

I have tweaked the Fluval to try an mimic the Finnex and it just doesnt compare in its ability to pull out red and just give the tank those warm glows at “sunrise” and “sunset. ” So, with the exact same price point.

I would say you are trading off the beautiful colors achieved with the Finnex for the warranty and App associated with the Fluval.

I used to have beta fish in my biorbs. I have two biorb tanks. But I just get too attached to the fish and they only live 3 or 4 years. And with a five gallon biorb, it’s just too heavy when it’s full to clean it.

So I turned my biorbs into terrariums so I only have to have it one third full of water (much easier and lighter to clean) and the led light works great for my live plants. I even have ivy in them. I bought some pretty rocks for the bottom and a few resin frogs and turtles and the led light fixture shows them off beautifully.

And the plants are thriving in plain water. Only have to change the water out every 3 months or so. Just add a little water as it dissipates. And these lights last for years. Have convenient on off switch.

And makes for a beautiful decorative display in my home. And easy no mess live plants. Totally recommend.

This is part of the Biorb system and although not cheap and requiring a transformer it is excellent. It fit my Biorb tank as it should and looks the part. It works and lights the tank adequately for day light and is bright at night but not too bright for my taste.

It uses very little electricity is water resistant and should last a long time. The Biorb system is miles away from the cheap glass tanks with thin metal lids. Do the fish notice, probably not but it fits in well with the decor.

Pleased with light unit. Gives nice bright light on my baby biorb. Hopefully it will last for the amount of time that is written in the product description.

These little lights are very good. I bought two initially and bought a further three at different intervals. I find the clip on facility very handy and there are red blue and white lights in it’s make up.

My plants have done well with them in small tank set ups. The service was very prompt.

Could not find this in a store so I was thrilled to get it. It’s delicious and I love it.

I bought this light to replace the fluorescent light on my 20 gallon tank. It isn’t quite as bright as I’d hoped. It would be excellent for a 10 gallon. I need to buy the longer version for the 20 gallon.

It is easy to put together, sits perfectly on top of my glass aquarium top, and has different settings for all white light, all blue light, white and blue light and other variations. It runs well on my timer.

This is a great light to have. I can’t say if its top of the line but compared to the old tank lights its excellent. I have to Fluval edge tanks that have mostly a sealed top except for a small square opening.

When their cheap lights failed due to water impingment I bought one of these lights. Sits easily across the tank, now I can service water w/o lights in my eyes and the tank dark due to Fluval’s own design flaw with light vs tank access.

This light has quite a few light scene selections and the price was great. Its sturdy and can fit on regular glass full open top tanks and adjustable but buy closest or bigger than the size of your tank so you can adjust the leg platform out.

Also gives way more light now for my real plants than the Fluval built in light and I don’t have to clean it of water splash buildup since it sits away from the water opening and where the water filtration is.

The little touch selection pad is good enough for what I want even though there are some really fancy one’s out there but they also come with the higher price. This is a great starter light and great for those who are satisfied with a great operating light without a lot out of pocket.

So far Chewy had the best price for this light when I shopped around. I’ve bought two now and really like them both.
